The Leicester City fan who suffered THREE heart attacks.

:00:00.:00:14.

Today, Jim Blockley met the opportunity firefighter who came to

:00:15.:00:20.

his aid when he collapsed during a match. Beyond belief. Not just that

:00:21.:00:25.

he is alive, but that he has sat up and talking. It is fantastic. Hit by

:00:26.:00:32.

a torrent of water. The aftermath of the dramatic mains burst in Derby.

:00:33.:00:36.

Plus, an apprenticeship college clothes as after losing a

:00:37.:00:39.

multi-million pound Government control. -- closes. And they've got

:00:40.:00:47.

a spring in their step. Find out why in Newark is one of the happiest

:00:48.:00:49.

places in the UK to live. Welcome to Monday's

:00:50.:00:59.

programme with Anne Davies First tonight: He's

:01:00.:01:02.

a walking miracle - that's how Leicester City fan

:01:03.:01:07.

Jim Blockley has been described The father-of-three collapsed

:01:08.:01:10.

and suffered three heart attacks after becoming ill

:01:11.:01:16.

during Leicester City's Champions' League match

:01:17.:01:19.

against Sevilla last week. Luckily for him, an off-duty

:01:20.:01:21.

firefighter was sitting close An emotional reunion with the

:01:22.:01:43.

firefighter who helped to save his life after Jim Blockley became ill

:01:44.:01:49.

during the match. I went to a steward and told him I was fine. I

:01:50.:01:55.

walked along with him and we got to the halfway line and I said I felt a

:01:56.:01:59.

bit faint. That is all I can remember. Then I passed out.

:02:00.:02:05.

Locally, Kaz Whitener, South Yorkshire firefighter was sitting

:02:06.:02:10.

close by rushed to help. I saw him and he was being held up as soon

:02:11.:02:17.

afterward, a couple of the on site medics came and started to give him

:02:18.:02:24.

CPR, something I've received a lot of training in. I was sat quite

:02:25.:02:28.

close to the end of the Aiello, so I managed to get quickly there and

:02:29.:02:34.

help him at the front. All in all, he did actually die on three

:02:35.:02:41.

separate occasions. They told us to kiss him goodbye at A and they did

:02:42.:02:45.

not think he would make it here. But he did. And he is now recovering.

:02:46.:03:01.

How you about what Caz did for you? If it wasn't her, I wouldn't be

:03:02.:03:11.

here. It is amazing. Not just that he is alive, but that's it is sat up

:03:12.:03:18.

and talking. It is fantastic. Leicester City football club's

:03:19.:03:20.

ambassador has been to visit with a signed shirts from all the players.

:03:21.:03:24.

It is fitting that Jim's first words were about the results. I knew I was

:03:25.:03:30.

in hospital, and I laid there and asked what the score was. When she

:03:31.:03:34.

told me was still - nil, and then said I, but view after that. He

:03:35.:03:39.

knows how lucky is to be alive. As for the next Leicester City match,

:03:40.:03:43.

he says he plans to take it easy and watch game from home.

:03:44.:03:49.

People living in two houses badly damaged by a dramatic water pipe

:03:50.:03:52.

explosion in Derby won't be able to return home for months.

:03:53.:03:56.

A road in the Chester Green area of the city will also

:03:57.:03:59.

Engineers have been working around the clock on repairs.

:04:00.:04:04.

Simon, how much progress have they made?

:04:05.:04:16.

The well, they have been working hard here throughout the day and as

:04:17.:04:22.

you can see, what is still gushing through here. That's not because

:04:23.:04:29.

there is any new problem, but because the engineers of control the

:04:30.:04:32.

flow of the water as they continue their work. They have had to have

:04:33.:04:37.

you pipe brought in for this repair and that has been fitted today and

:04:38.:04:42.

we are told that work will continue. It will carry on for some time.

:04:43.:04:46.

Around seven and a half thousand homes and businesses had their water

:04:47.:04:50.

supply affected by this and people that live immediately by the burst

:04:51.:04:54.

main say it was like a bomb going off.

:04:55.:04:59.

2am yesterday and a huge fountain of water and rubble explodes. It

:05:00.:05:06.

flooded and damaged nearby homes in Mansfield Road. Most people have not

:05:07.:05:12.

been able to return them properly, except for two households. Dawn's

:05:13.:05:16.

home is too badly damaged. She will be overseeing repairs, but will have

:05:17.:05:21.

to rent elsewhere. There are thousands of tonnes of water

:05:22.:05:25.

literally coming through the house. Top to bottom. There is nothing left

:05:26.:05:30.

unaffected. It is absolute devastation. As you can see. Every

:05:31.:05:34.

room is gone, furniture ruined, everything. There's very little to

:05:35.:05:41.

salvage. The water surged into the reception area of a local church.

:05:42.:05:46.

This shows how much water came in here. When I got down here, I was

:05:47.:05:51.

amazed to see the amount of water that was flooding around, all of the

:05:52.:05:57.

debris on the road and around, in some ways, it looked a bit like a

:05:58.:06:02.

war zone if he did know any better. Severn Trent Water parlour and a

:06:03.:06:05.

permanently fix the pipe rather than temporarily repairing it. Were take

:06:06.:06:11.

up pipeline is out of service, you need to bring water in from another

:06:12.:06:15.

area. We decided today whether we were going to do a full repair or a

:06:16.:06:20.

temporary one. We decided to do the full repair, so that will be on

:06:21.:06:23.

there for you next two days and then we need to reinstate the road in the

:06:24.:06:28.

days after that. They restart as a bite of thousands of people as

:06:29.:06:32.

quickly as possible. They apologised for the disruption. They could be a

:06:33.:06:35.

long time before life returns to normal for those most affected.

:06:36.:06:40.

And all those affected by the incident, you can see the whole

:06:41.:06:46.

other, are being spoken to by loss adjusters. Severn Trent Water say

:06:47.:06:50.

they will get compensation. We stalled another cause, but

:06:51.:06:53.

specialists will be looking at the evidence and also the data recorder

:06:54.:06:58.

to try and find out the cause and here it remains closed and because

:06:59.:07:02.

of all of this work, the road will stay closed for the next few days.

:07:03.:07:07.

So commuters in and out of Derby will have to suffer congestion.

:07:08.:07:08.

A 17-year-old and a 20-year-old have appeared in court today

:07:09.:07:11.

charged with murder after a man was found dying

:07:12.:07:15.

45-year-old Timothy Smith from Tamworth was discovered

:07:16.:07:20.

on the Gelders Hall industrial estate in Shepshed

:07:21.:07:22.

Mark Law from Shepshed and the teenager, have been remanded

:07:23.:07:25.

37 drivers have been caught not wearing seat belts during a four-day

:07:26.:07:33.

Police officers patrolled the motorway and the A1

:07:34.:07:38.

It's part of the Fatal Four campaign, which targets

:07:39.:07:42.

drink-driving, speeding, not wearing a seat belt and using

:07:43.:07:44.

Still to come, a look back at a sporting

:07:45.:07:54.

The Tigers brought back the Anglo Welsh Cup and the Riders

:07:55.:08:01.

A national apprenticeship college has shut down,

:08:02.:08:19.

after losing a multi-million pound Government contract.

:08:20.:08:21.

It's understood that more than 200 staff,

:08:22.:08:22.

at the Derbyshire headquarters of "Positive Outcomes",

:08:23.:08:24.

Our Social Affairs Correspondent, Jeremy Ball, is there for us

:08:25.:08:30.

This is the headquarters building, where most of them worked.

:08:31.:08:56.

And some staff have also lost their jobs at Positive Outcomes'

:08:57.:08:58.

Its website says it was running one of the country's largest

:08:59.:09:04.

with thousands of placements across the country

:09:05.:09:07.

in industries from property sales, to hospitality and warehousing.

:09:08.:09:12.

Now the Department for Education's confirmed that it's terminated

:09:13.:09:14.

And it says it's now talking to employers.

:09:15.:09:18.

So those apprenticeships can be transferred.

:09:19.:09:19.

And young people's training programmes aren't disrupted.

:09:20.:09:29.

We are having a few problems with the sound.

:09:30.:09:32.

And has "Positive Outcomes" issued any statement about the closure?

:09:33.:09:39.

We haven't been able to contact them directly,

:09:40.:09:41.

But they did send a statement to a trade publication called "FE Week".

:09:42.:09:45.

That says they had to cease trading, because they couldn't find a buyer.

:09:46.:09:49.

And they've thanked the staff, who've worked for the business

:09:50.:09:51.

Sorry about that, we have a few sound problems. Comic up, it is the

:09:52.:10:19.

biggest cancer killer in the young, but there is a relatively recent --

:10:20.:10:24.

little research done into it. The causes brain tumour is little

:10:25.:10:25.

understood. Someone who really wants

:10:26.:10:30.

to change all that is Her brother Ryan

:10:31.:10:32.

died a few days ago. The 26-year-old was passionate

:10:33.:10:35.

about raising awareness of the disease and that's work

:10:36.:10:37.

Melanie now plans to continue. Rob Sissons - our Health

:10:38.:10:40.

Correspondent has more. Ryan, Melanie's brother and best

:10:41.:10:48.

friend. She says that throughout his cruel illness, Ryan was passionate

:10:49.:10:52.

about raising both money and the profile of brain tumour disease.

:10:53.:10:57.

Ryan was not really given a proper diagnosis until last year, because

:10:58.:11:00.

the brain tumour he had was so rare and they are many types brain tumour

:11:01.:11:07.

and they do know enough about them, which is why he's no longer here,

:11:08.:11:11.

because we don't have a cure. I'd been people realise our common it is

:11:12.:11:18.

an especially in the young. The facts are stark. Brain tumours in

:11:19.:11:22.

the under 40s of the biggest cancer killer, that is for the children and

:11:23.:11:27.

adults. And yet, when it comes to the national spend on cancer

:11:28.:11:31.

research, just 1% goes on at this devastating disease. Melania still

:11:32.:11:35.

going to get involved in the fund-raising events Ryan had planned

:11:36.:11:39.

over the next few weeks. Including wear a hat today, which is the

:11:40.:11:44.

centrepiece of this brain tumour awareness month. Ireland have the

:11:45.:11:46.

strength to do this because he was going to do it and if he can do it

:11:47.:11:52.

in a position he was in then, I can do it for him. I have done lots of

:11:53.:11:59.

different fundraising things. I think people can learn from him that

:12:00.:12:07.

you need to live life to the fold. Every day. Leave it like it is your

:12:08.:12:08.

last. Rob, there is still so much we don't

:12:09.:12:10.

understand about brain tumours? Yes, I want the campaigners are

:12:11.:12:19.

saying is they want decisive action. They say this has been going on for

:12:20.:12:25.

years, this underfunding. Melanie, who we saw in the fold, we have

:12:26.:12:28.

pictures of her chatting to someone at her home from the national

:12:29.:12:35.

charity, the Brain Tumour Research Organisation and they say this is

:12:36.:12:39.

very important and we need to pour money into it.

:12:40.:12:43.

What we know with absolute certainty is if we do not increase research

:12:44.:12:46.

funding, we will not make a difference in terms

:12:47.:12:48.

of outcomes and options of

:12:49.:12:49.

We are just asking for some form of parity.

:12:50.:12:54.

Look at what has been going on with breast

:12:55.:12:56.

cancer and leukaemia and the

:12:57.:12:57.

steps they've made, we applaud that, but we say give us parity of

:12:58.:13:00.

funding and make a difference for brain tumour patients as well.

:13:01.:13:03.

And what gives this added urgency is that cases are increasing?

:13:04.:13:07.

For reasons unknown, the numbers are going up. We have an interesting

:13:08.:13:12.

figure and this is the number of cases in the East Midlands. It is

:13:13.:13:19.

372 cases. This is in 2014. They're the latest figures available. That

:13:20.:13:27.

is up 20% in the space of just three years. So at the time people are

:13:28.:13:33.

saying we should be do more research, the number of people

:13:34.:13:36.

affected on a number of people quite frankly dying from this condition is

:13:37.:13:37.

going up. Thank you. Coming up on Inside Out tonight,

:13:38.:13:52.

as demand continues to grow for council homes, owners of empty

:13:53.:13:55.

properties across the East Midlands are being urged to bring

:13:56.:13:57.

them back into use. Across our region there

:13:58.:13:59.

are an estimated 20,000 homes that have been sitting empty

:14:00.:14:01.

for more than six months, Now a team at Leicester City Council

:14:02.:14:04.

is bringing around to hundred back It's not acceptable for properties

:14:05.:14:08.

to remain like this. They are a detriment

:14:09.:14:13.

to the environment, to the area, the neighbours

:14:14.:14:15.

complain about them, so every property that

:14:16.:14:21.

returned back into us is an extra property for a family, a much-needed

:14:22.:14:24.

And you can see more on that story on Inside Out at 7.30 on BBC One.

:14:25.:14:39.

What makes them happy in the happiest part of our region? Just

:14:40.:14:45.

where is the cheeriest spot in the East Midlands?

:14:46.:14:58.

Time for sport, and what a weekend for Leicester sport.

:14:59.:15:03.

Yes, coming up, trophies for the Leicester Tigers

:15:04.:15:05.

and Riders and all the drama from the East Midlands derby.

:15:06.:15:11.

But first, the former Head Coach of Italy has told French TV

:15:12.:15:13.

he turned down an approach from Leicester City.

:15:14.:15:15.

Cesare Prandelli said he refused talks after seeing how

:15:16.:15:18.

Yet the decision has turned around the season.

:15:19.:15:21.

This weekend saw them win the fourth game in a row since the sacking.

:15:22.:15:24.

There were early gifts for Leicester on this

:15:25.:15:31.

newest Premier League ground, the London Stadium.

:15:32.:15:40.

The shot from the first of two goals in seven minutes

:15:41.:15:42.

in Leicester's own version of Super Saturday.

:15:43.:15:44.

It had been a tame 20 minutes for

:15:45.:15:49.

But under Craig Shakespeare, anything

:15:50.:15:56.

Leicester have not won an away league game all season.

:15:57.:16:01.

The goal before joining up with the England squad,

:16:02.:16:04.

And much about this man, Kasper Schmeichel,

:16:05.:16:11.

with another eye-catching performance in Leicester's goal.

:16:12.:16:14.

It is a wonder anything got past him,

:16:15.:16:16.

It set up a tense ending, but Schmeichel is the top of

:16:17.:16:21.

his game and anything that came his way from this was stopped.

:16:22.:16:29.

It bounces to him and you just make yourself as big as you can and hope

:16:30.:16:33.

it hits you and nine times out of ten, hope it doesn't,

:16:34.:16:36.

but this time, the luck was on my side.

:16:37.:16:39.

I thought we started really good, but the

:16:40.:16:41.

goals got in front, but it was definitely

:16:42.:16:43.

backs to the wall in the

:16:44.:16:46.

second half and I'm really pleased to get

:16:47.:16:48.

It is important to go into the international

:16:49.:16:54.

something today and to get the three points we have to be delighted with.

:16:55.:16:59.

Four games, four wins for Craig Shakespeare.

:17:00.:17:00.

Leicester are going into spring bristling with confidence.

:17:01.:17:02.

The discontented winter appears to be behind them.

:17:03.:17:04.

Well, onto the drama of Forest versus Derby.

:17:05.:17:06.

If you're a Red or a Ram, how was your Monday?

:17:07.:17:09.

Well, I guess Forest fans were the happier.

:17:10.:17:11.

But the two-all draw meant local pride shared and so were the points

:17:12.:17:14.

Natalie Jackson looks back at the East Midlands derby.

:17:15.:17:22.

Soon as Nottingham Forest and Derby County last met here, the two clubs

:17:23.:17:29.

have changed managers manages eight times between them. There is

:17:30.:17:34.

certainly know where they can poke fun at us when they're doing exactly

:17:35.:17:43.

the same thing. No joke for the men in arguably the most insecure jobs

:17:44.:17:48.

in football. Mark Robertson faces a nervy fight to keep Forest up and

:17:49.:17:54.

Gary row must survive the RAM and go for an outside push. Derby season

:17:55.:18:03.

was finished last week although it has been reignited. How big is the

:18:04.:18:10.

rivalry? It is big. Derby do not have to win it, but we do. The

:18:11.:18:15.

passion is significantly better than both clubs. If I sent derby win the

:18:16.:18:22.

Premier League, this will be shown worldwide. So both managers have

:18:23.:18:26.

been thrown in at the deep end today. This is a where tempers can

:18:27.:18:34.

often boil over. Always five state and so it was started with an early

:18:35.:18:44.

goal. It was scored by a player... Forest were better in the first half

:18:45.:18:53.

and Derby bet the second. -- better in the second. Five minutes later,

:18:54.:19:01.

Derby were ahead. David Nugent turns it around! Then with virtually the

:19:02.:19:10.

last kick of the game. It is an equalising goal! To show the unit

:19:11.:19:17.

they displayed in terms of on the pitch and with the fans, we need

:19:18.:19:20.

that unity and at Armadale togetherness. We have to see it out

:19:21.:19:25.

and we didn't have it don't quite get the free point. A

:19:26.:19:27.

disappointment, but there are positives. It's always nice to score

:19:28.:19:33.

a win in the Derby, and it does feel like a defeat, but we take a point

:19:34.:19:38.

and move onto the next game. A great header and we showed a lot of

:19:39.:19:39.

passion on the page. In League Two, Mansfield Town had

:19:40.:19:43.

gone for games without a goal, but found the scoring

:19:44.:19:46.

habit against Carlisle. Matt Green was the man who broke

:19:47.:19:48.

the drought with this goal midway And just to make sure of the points,

:19:49.:19:51.

Shaq Coulthirst got a second Meanwhile, Notts County survived

:19:52.:19:55.

an early setback at Meadow Lane when Mark Yeates was sent off

:19:56.:19:58.

with just over ten minutes gone But full-back Matt Tootle scored

:19:59.:20:01.

the only goal of the game just after half-time to leave Notts

:20:02.:20:05.

a healthy 11 points off Now, as promised, our

:20:06.:20:08.

look at a trophy-laden It was a day when Leicester Tigers

:20:09.:20:22.

brought back Rugby's Anglo Welsh Cup And when Basketball's Leicester

:20:23.:20:29.

Riders retained their grip A Sunday afternoon when,

:20:30.:20:32.

minute to minute, The Twickenham stoop, just before

:20:33.:21:03.

3pm. Leicester Tigers all to try and put a trophy in the Cabinet in the

:21:04.:21:07.

middle of a season of trouble and change. What turns out to be the

:21:08.:21:11.

decisive moment happens just 20 minutes later. 350 miles north of

:21:12.:21:23.

the Emperor 's Arena in Glasgow, Leicester Riders come out wanting to

:21:24.:21:28.

re-emphasise their dominance. It takes them less than 20 minutes to

:21:29.:21:40.

completely assert themselves. Taylor King with 13! There is attacking

:21:41.:21:44.

brilliance, but they both built their victories on defence. Just

:21:45.:21:48.

before 430, Linda was rocking to tackle after tackle after tackle.

:21:49.:21:55.

The tackle count was amazing. Some unbelievable performances. Riders

:21:56.:22:02.

were strung up the bike at 20 to five at the Glasgow and that set up

:22:03.:22:13.

a back quaking moment. They were in complete control. The rugby boys,

:22:14.:22:18.

with a brief twitchy moment, Exeter came close. But in the end... They

:22:19.:22:24.

showed what it meant to them today. We always talk about looking each

:22:25.:22:29.

other in the eye and I am proud and cannot say anything else. It was a

:22:30.:22:32.

very good half an hour for Leicester. Very good indeed. One

:22:33.:22:35.

trophy has been one and another retained. Get used to conduct a

:22:36.:22:46.

Glasgow and it's been two years in a row we have been successful. We

:22:47.:22:56.

super excited! -- we are super excited! I am proud to be their

:22:57.:23:01.

coach. And tomorrow we'll get the chance

:23:02.:23:04.

to hear in-depth from both camps and take a closer look

:23:05.:23:07.

at both those trophies! We'll definitely have some shiny

:23:08.:23:09.

silverwear in this studio. Finally a quick mention

just happy to see Lucy. But few were maybe happy with what

:25:35.:25:49.

we have coming this week. Temperatures by to single figures

:25:50.:25:53.

and low pressure in charge. We will see outbreaks of rain throughout the

:25:54.:25:56.

week and it will be quite breezy to start with. We did see some sunshine

:25:57.:26:03.

today, some late spells captured by our weather watcher here. But as we

:26:04.:26:08.

moved through the morning, that was not the case. This rain making its

:26:09.:26:11.

way toward the south-east is dragging in fresh air behind it and

:26:12.:26:15.

that's where we are as we move through this evening. Clear spells

:26:16.:26:18.

and scattered showers and they could be quite heavy at times. Hail and

:26:19.:26:25.

snow over high ground. Temperatures not doing well at all and an

:26:26.:26:29.

overnight low of 2 degrees in towns and cities and slightly cooler in

the countryside. A cold night on the way and a few patches of ice on

:26:34.:26:38.

untreated surfaces first thing and a few patches of frost tomorrow as

:26:39.:26:42.

well. Fairly bright though as we move into tomorrow. We are looking

:26:43.:26:46.

at sunny spells and scattered showers. Again, there is potential

:26:47.:26:52.

for them to be heavy and thundery. Temperatures not doing well, maximum

:26:53.:26:59.

of 8 degrees. As we move into Wednesday, we have this band of rain

:27:00.:27:04.

clearing toward the east. Temperatures struggling under

:27:05.:27:08.

maximum of seven Celsius. By Wednesday, the breeze drops off.

:27:09.:27:13.

Less in the way of cold wind. An unsettled picture. Some quite heavy

:27:14.:27:17.

showers to look out for as we move into tomorrow. More outbreaks of

:27:18.:27:21.

rain, but by the end of the week high pressure begins to build and

:27:22.:27:25.

certainly a more settled picture by the weekend.
