And now the news for the East Midlands, I'm Dominic Heale.

:00:12.:00:17.

First tonight, an East Midlands police chief has called

:00:18.:00:19.

on communities to fight the 'hateful agenda' which brought terror

:00:20.:00:21.

Simon Cole, the Chief Constable of Leicestershire, said people

:00:22.:00:26.

needed to work together to combat terror.

:00:27.:00:27.

The chief of Nottinghamshire Police has warned people against carrying

:00:28.:00:30.

Meanwhile, this evening special prayers were said for the victims

:00:31.:00:34.

at Leicester Cathedral. Sarah Teale reports.

:00:35.:00:46.

Across the East Midlands, flags were lowered to fly at half-mast at many

:00:47.:00:53.

public buildings, in a show of respect to those caught up in the

:00:54.:00:55.

terror attack at Westminster yesterday. And at a meeting of

:00:56.:01:00.

Leicestershire police, one minute's silence was hurt to honour the dead.

:01:01.:01:08.

The country's security level remains active year, with East Midlands

:01:09.:01:11.

police forces confirming there are no specific threats to the region.

:01:12.:01:17.

Leicestershire's Chief Constable, Simon Cowell, asked the public to

:01:18.:01:22.

help them fight terror. Be vigilant, be calm, let's stick together as

:01:23.:01:26.

communities and work together because this is a pretty hateful

:01:27.:01:31.

agenda and we need to combat that stick together. We have done that in

:01:32.:01:35.

the past and we will do it going ahead. Today, Theresa May said

:01:36.:01:41.

policing would be stepped up protect communities and reassure the public.

:01:42.:01:46.

She said cities across the country would see an increase in police and

:01:47.:01:52.

armed police on the streets. And the East Midlands police operational

:01:53.:01:56.

support unit, which runs aren't policing, says it's reviewing the

:01:57.:02:00.

deployment of all armed officers. Today, the Chief Constable of

:02:01.:02:03.

Nottinghamshire Police warned against revenge attacks. These

:02:04.:02:08.

incidents tend to have an effect whereby one occasion, incidents of

:02:09.:02:11.

hate crime can increase and I want to send a very clear message to

:02:12.:02:14.

anybody considering any of those actions that our response will be

:02:15.:02:22.

very swift. This evening, a time for reflection of Leicester Cathedral.

:02:23.:02:26.

Special prayers were held for those killed and injured and a clear

:02:27.:02:30.

message came from the Bishop to uphold all that is good and

:02:31.:02:32.

challenge all that is wrong. As I said earlier this evening,

:02:33.:02:38.

special prayers were held at Leicester Cathedral to show

:02:39.:02:40.

the city's sympathy for those Shortly after the service finished

:02:41.:02:43.

I spoke to Canon Karen Rooms and asked her what the mood

:02:44.:02:46.

was like among those who attended. The mood was beautiful,

:02:47.:02:49.

it was sombre, there was a sense of lament and naming the reality of

:02:50.:02:52.

what's happened but also of hope. Why did you decide

:02:53.:02:55.

to hold the service? We always pray each evening

:02:56.:02:58.

and we wanted to make this evening's prayers specifically focused

:02:59.:03:01.

on what has happened yesterday and provide a space to people

:03:02.:03:03.

of all faiths and none to come into this iconic

:03:04.:03:06.

building in this holy space in the middle of Leicester and to gather

:03:07.:03:09.

themselves and their feelings with each other and to spend

:03:10.:03:11.

that time together. I suppose it's very obvious,

:03:12.:03:18.

it's a service for all faiths, what sort of message

:03:19.:03:20.

did you want to send I think we wanted a message of hope

:03:21.:03:23.

and solidarity with those who have gone through some difficult times

:03:24.:03:31.

yesterday and support for our emergency services and community

:03:32.:03:39.

leaders, who are trying to build bridges that people can walk

:03:40.:03:41.

across and live together on. And so, we wanted it

:03:42.:03:44.

to be a place of welcome. And the reaction from people

:03:45.:03:49.

that attended tonight? I think they were delighted to be

:03:50.:03:51.

here and to be included and invited into this place and to

:03:52.:03:54.

be together at such a moment this. OK, Canon Rooms, we are grateful

:03:55.:03:59.

for you joining us this evening. Next tonight - a GP's prescription

:04:00.:04:08.

error significantly contributed to the death of a Derbyshire woman

:04:09.:04:10.

diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. That was the finding

:04:11.:04:12.

of an inquest into the death The coroner recorded a narrative

with today's findings, Kymberley Holden's family has waited

was satisfactory and as good a conclusion as she could come

to but it's been a living nightmare. It's nice now to get

closure and conclusion. Almost a year before her death,

Kymberley was diagnosed with In November 2014, feeling

your weather now, here's Alex. Thanks. What a contrast a few days

makes. Earlier this week, some rain showers and even wintry elements.

:09:30.:09:34.

Today, bright sunshine across much of the East Midlands. Just a touch

:09:35.:09:39.

of scattered cloud. Still very pleasant and springlike. High

:09:40.:09:44.

pressure building over the next few days. It will stay with us into the

:09:45.:09:51.

weekend. The low pressure that we had in charge earlier has moved out

:09:52.:09:56.

of the way and the high pressure continues to build. On the ground,

:09:57.:10:03.

overnight, a settled night ahead. Cloud coming up from the South. We

:10:04.:10:09.

will see temperatures down to around five Celsius. In rural sports,

:10:10.:10:13.

potentially lower. We may see some frost. Tomorrow, starting on a

:10:14.:10:21.

cloudy note but that will thin and break-up. A bright afternoon with

:10:22.:10:28.

plenty of sunny spells. Highs of 12 Celsius. Perhaps 13. Easterly winds.

:10:29.:10:41.

Feeling a touch chilly. Looking ahead, lots of sunshine on Saturday.

:10:42.:10:47.

Still some scattered cloud. Highs of 12 Celsius. High pressure sticking

:10:48.:10:53.

with us into Sunday. But looking cloudier.

:10:54.:10:55.

Your national forecast is coming up, I'll leave you with the outlook.

:10:56.:11:02.

part of the weekend. 1415 degrees. Still quite breezy. Here's
