A first look at tomorrow morning's papers is coming up on the BBC News

:00:00.:00:00.

Channel. It's now time for the news wherever you are. Good night.

:00:00.:00:16.

Certain cars could be banned from London's roads in an effort

:00:17.:00:21.

The Mayor of London hasn't ruled the measure out,

:00:22.:00:25.

while in another effort to improve the air we breathe, an entrepreneur

:00:26.:00:28.

is using crowdfunding to set up thousands of new charging points

:00:29.:00:31.

Just five days into 2017, and the capital had already

:00:32.:00:38.

Funding over the next five years has been doubled by the Mayor of London

:00:39.:00:45.

Green electric vehicles are part of radical plans to improve things,

:00:46.:00:49.

We've got plans to run out over the next few years

:00:50.:01:01.

We have to make sure that the electric that

:01:02.:01:04.

comes to the points is as clean as possible.

:01:05.:01:06.

We're setting up energy for Londoners to make sure we have

:01:07.:01:09.

sustainable forms of generation of electricity in London.

:01:10.:01:11.

We've got to rethink the way our city operates.

:01:12.:01:13.

London-based entrepreneur Eric Fairburn believes he has the answer.

:01:14.:01:17.

Partly through crowdfunding, his firm is providing thousands

:01:18.:01:19.

of charging points across London, at airports, supermarkets

:01:20.:01:22.

and housing developments, to make electric car driving

:01:23.:01:24.

We really think that electric vehicles are just

:01:25.:01:28.

about to hit mass market, and that means we need to put

:01:29.:01:31.

thousands and thousands of charge points everywhere you park

:01:32.:01:35.

So this investment is a fundamental change in our ability

:01:36.:01:40.

The latest technology may make drivers in the capital think again

:01:41.:01:46.

about owning their own car, with sharing becoming

:01:47.:01:48.

Electric car technology is changing all the time.

:01:49.:01:54.

For example, if I want to put the heating on in the car,

:01:55.:01:57.

I can do it from inside the house, using my phone.

:01:58.:02:01.

And if I press this button twice on the motorway,

:02:02.:02:04.

While campaigners accept private and public initiatives are steps

:02:05.:02:08.

in the right direction, many are calling for action now

:02:09.:02:11.

to make the capital's air cleaner, and to protect Londoners' health.

:02:12.:02:14.

One of the men convicted of the racist killing of teenager

:02:15.:02:23.

Stephen Lawrence in Eltham nearly 25 years ago is to sue the government,

:02:24.:02:27.

David Norris is said to be seeking thousands of pounds in compensation,

:02:28.:02:33.

because of an alleged attack at Belmarsh Prison

:02:34.:02:36.

His lawyers claim he was put at risk by being moved

:02:37.:02:41.

Former boxer, Michael Watson, and his carer have been injured

:02:42.:02:48.

during an attempted carjacking in east London.

:02:49.:02:51.

Mr Watson, who was left partially disabled after a bout in 1991,

:02:52.:02:56.

was dragged along the road in Chingford, as he tried

:02:57.:02:59.

Police are appealing for information.

:03:00.:03:02.

Low-cost houses that measure four metres by eight are to be

:03:03.:03:05.

built in Chelmsford, as a modern day version

:03:06.:03:09.

And the local authority promises that rents there will be low,

:03:10.:03:13.

By the spring, this parking lot will be one of two council-owned

:03:14.:03:22.

sites where the first 18 prefab homes will be assembled for some

:03:23.:03:24.

It will be people who are mainly on our waiting list,

:03:25.:03:29.

and in desperate need of immediate accommodation, people

:03:30.:03:30.

who will have become homeless from their present accommodation.

:03:31.:03:36.

The interesting thing about this unit is it was assembled

:03:37.:03:38.

What we've got here is a separate bedroom, a living area here,

:03:39.:03:44.

and you can see through here we have got a shower room within a bathroom,

:03:45.:03:48.

and, of course, in the kitchen, the fridge, washing machine already

:03:49.:03:51.

Now, it can be assembled on-site in half a day,

:03:52.:03:59.

This is very much a quick fix for a local council.

:04:00.:04:03.

But the housing industry will be taking note of this because so many

:04:04.:04:06.

young people are unable to afford to get onto the property ladder.

:04:07.:04:10.

So these prefab homes could be a game-changer.

:04:11.:04:13.

Alex Dunlop, BBC London News, Chelmsford.

:04:14.:04:17.

Now the weather forecast, with Elizabeth.

:04:18.:04:20.

Tomorrow is looking unusually mild for this time of year.

:04:21.:04:24.

We'll be starting off the day in the towns in double figures,

:04:25.:04:27.

lots of low cloud around, some missed and some murk,

:04:28.:04:29.

Perhaps a bit of early drizzle, but otherwise dry.

:04:30.:04:33.

And if we get any breaks in the cloud through the afternoon,

:04:34.:04:36.

we'll be looking at temperatures higher than this, possibly up

:04:37.:04:39.

It'll feel a bit cooler from Tuesday.

:04:40.:04:41.

We'll be keeping the cloud and the windy weather.

:04:42.:04:43.

It'll turn colder by the end of the week.

:04:44.:04:46.

That's it from the BBC London weekend team.

:04:47.:04:48.

We wish you a very good night, and a good week ahead.

:04:49.:04:51.

Good evening. It has felt more like spring and winter this weekend. We

:04:52.:05:17.

had 14 Celsius in North Yorkshire today, purely down to the wind

:05:18.:05:21.

direction. The south-westerly will continue to bring in mild there on

:05:22.:05:27.

Monday. If anything, temperatures will be a little higher. It

:05:28.:05:28.
