Hello and welcome to Look East, with Susie and me. | :00:06. | :00:09.
Coming up in the next 30 minutes: A major police investigation in | :00:09. | :00:13.
Ipswich after three teenage girls say they were raped. | :00:13. | :00:16.
The fake war hero jailed for three years for telling lies about his | :00:16. | :00:20.
military service. Disbelief at the A14 diversion, | :00:20. | :00:26.
which takes drivers on a 37-mile tour of the countryside. | :00:26. | :00:30.
And it's not even nice weather for Lemurs. The full bank holiday | :00:30. | :00:40.
:00:40. | :00:45. | ||
Specially trained police officers have been spending the day | :00:45. | :00:48.
comforting three teenage girls, who said they were raped at a flat in | :00:49. | :00:54.
Ipswich. A friend of the girls, who are all | :00:54. | :00:57.
aged 15, called the police early this morning. The allegation | :00:57. | :01:01.
involves a group of men. One, who is 19 years old, has already been | :01:01. | :01:09.
arrested. Let's get the details now from Alex Dunlop in Ipswich. | :01:09. | :01:12.
The police are saying this is potentially a very, very serious | :01:12. | :01:16.
offence. The girls are, who are local, are all friends and to know | :01:16. | :01:22.
each other, but the police are not saying if they knew their alleged | :01:22. | :01:26.
attackers off of -- how many men were involved in this group. We | :01:26. | :01:31.
know there Nineteen-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of rape | :01:31. | :01:35.
and being in possession of a controlled drug. Police say more | :01:35. | :01:39.
arrests are likely to happen. All day, a frenzied search inside | :01:39. | :01:45.
and outside of St Nicholas House. - - a forensic. Today, friends of the | :01:45. | :01:48.
teenage girls called the police saying that of the three had been | :01:48. | :01:51.
raped by a group of men in the block of flats in the centre of | :01:51. | :01:58.
Ipswich. We are now undertaking a serious inquiry with a group of | :01:58. | :02:01.
colleagues to try and establish what happened and he was involved. | :02:01. | :02:05.
How much information have you been able to get, bearing good mind the | :02:05. | :02:10.
age of the girls? It is still very early in the investigation and they | :02:10. | :02:13.
have been through a very traumatic period. We are working very closely | :02:13. | :02:16.
with them, but in these types of inquiry, they take considerable | :02:16. | :02:21.
time, so the process will be on going for several days. Should the | :02:21. | :02:26.
wider public be concerned or is it an isolated case? A as far as I am | :02:26. | :02:30.
concerned, it is an isolated case. These types of offences are | :02:30. | :02:35.
extremely unusual, both in Suffolk and Ipswich. Our local the 19-year- | :02:35. | :02:39.
old man has been questioned by detectives. -- a local 19-year-old | :02:39. | :02:43.
man. The girls are being comforted by experienced officers and | :02:43. | :02:48.
councillors. Many of the people who live in the flats are youngsters. A | :02:48. | :02:52.
local unit has been set up to reassure local residents. | :02:52. | :02:55.
Detectives say it is a complex investigation and they are keen for | :02:55. | :03:00.
witnesses to come forward. So do we know how the girls are | :03:00. | :03:03.
this evening? But police say the girls are very | :03:03. | :03:06.
traumatised by what they say has happened to them, so it could take | :03:06. | :03:10.
several days to build up a picture of exactly what happened. I spoke | :03:10. | :03:13.
to one resident in the block of flats and he said there had been a | :03:13. | :03:16.
big party going on in the block of flats throughout most of the night, | :03:17. | :03:21.
but there is no evidence that it is linked to the alleged attack. We | :03:21. | :03:26.
have 25 officers now have assigned to this case, trawling through CCTV | :03:26. | :03:30.
evidence and talking to local people. At complex investigation | :03:30. | :03:35.
and the police have put out of the phone number below in the hope that | :03:35. | :03:41.
anyone who has information will come forward. | :03:41. | :03:44.
A fantasist who made up an illustrious career in the Army is | :03:44. | :03:47.
tonight beginning a jail sentence of three years. Jack Livesey wore | :03:47. | :03:50.
service medals on his chest and claimed he fought in the Falklands | :03:50. | :03:53.
War. He's been jailed at Peterborough after lying about his | :03:53. | :03:56.
fake military service in a previous court hearing. | :03:56. | :04:00.
Jack Livesey built himself a "false life and a false persona". And | :04:00. | :04:04.
that's the view of his his own defence team. This false life | :04:04. | :04:06.
included a 20-year career with the Parachute Regiment and five tours | :04:06. | :04:12.
of duty in Northern Ireland. And he also claimed to have fought in the | :04:12. | :04:15.
Falklands and even took part in a Veterans' Day at the Duxford | :04:15. | :04:22.
Imperial War Museum, where he also worked as a military historian. | :04:22. | :04:26.
is very difficult, because you have Cox -- got a lot of happy memories | :04:26. | :04:30.
but also sad memories and it is a day to come to terms with that | :04:30. | :04:35.
particular war. That incident in my life. But in fact, Livesey had | :04:35. | :04:38.
served just two years in the catering corps and left in 1974. | :04:38. | :04:41.
Livesey's lies began to unravel 30 years later when he was convicted | :04:41. | :04:45.
of benefit fraud. At the time, his military friends provided character | :04:45. | :04:48.
references for him which directly referred to his military career - | :04:48. | :04:54.
which, at this point, they had no reason to disbelieve. And at the | :04:54. | :04:57.
time the judge said these references had spared him from a | :04:57. | :05:00.
jail. But subsequent investigations revealed the truth and today | :05:00. | :05:07.
Livesey was sentenced for perverting the course of justice. | :05:07. | :05:12.
The judge said "much of your life has been ally and you have to seek | :05:12. | :05:18.
the court's". -- A Life. He said it was a very serious offence and he | :05:18. | :05:24.
had no option but to give a custodial sentence. This is a | :05:24. | :05:27.
warning for those people living a lie and hopefully this can help | :05:27. | :05:32.
prevent the scourge of this sort of thing. It is a disgrace to all of | :05:32. | :05:36.
those soldiers who saved their friends' lives in conflict and | :05:36. | :05:39.
returned injured, it is an insult to their efforts. He has belittled | :05:39. | :05:45.
the memory of the 255 who sadly lost their lives 29 years ago, and | :05:45. | :05:49.
hopefully we will have nobody attempt to do this next year on the | :05:49. | :05:55.
30th anniversary at the National arboretum in Staffordshire. Tonight, | :05:55. | :05:58.
Livesey is beginning his jail term with the knowledge he'd lived a | :05:58. | :06:00.
complete lie. And his once-proud military reputation now lies in | :06:00. | :06:04.
tatters. Later in Look East, it's Chelsea | :06:04. | :06:08.
against Norwich in the Premier League. We hear from Chris Sutton, | :06:08. | :06:11.
who played for both clubs. And with the summer almost over, we | :06:11. | :06:18.
find out how business has been for the region's tourist trade. | :06:18. | :06:21.
And after a bit of a stamp -- damp start to the weekend, it does get | :06:21. | :06:29.
A former prisoner-of-war camp in the Fens, which houses hundreds of | :06:29. | :06:34.
migrant workers, has been given a big loan to expand. The site is at | :06:34. | :06:38.
Friday Bridge, near Wisbech. The owners wants to improve the | :06:38. | :06:48.
:06:48. | :06:49. | ||
accommodation and recruit more workers from Eastern Europe. | :06:49. | :06:53.
These people have just arrived from Lithuania. They say they have come | :06:53. | :06:57.
to work here for half the hours they work back home but for twice | :06:57. | :07:01.
the money. But they need somewhere -- somewhere to live and this is | :07:01. | :07:06.
where Friday Bridge camp comes in. We have workers arriving from most | :07:06. | :07:08.
of the Eastern European countries and other rival, they have the | :07:08. | :07:12.
option of whether they want to take accommodation here or they can | :07:12. | :07:17.
arrange it in town. But at 32.27, it is a very good option and if | :07:17. | :07:21.
they add more, they have more to send back to their families. But it | :07:21. | :07:25.
hasn't always been foreign workers. Since the 1950s, people would bring | :07:25. | :07:29.
their families here for working holidays. But with those gone, | :07:29. | :07:36.
Polish workers take their place. is really, really good to live here. | :07:36. | :07:42.
It is not like a normal home, but it is enough for us. These were | :07:42. | :07:46.
Second World War prison blocks and up until 10 years ago, they were | :07:46. | :07:50.
used to house migrant workers. Now it is hoped they could be | :07:50. | :07:53.
demolished to provide accommodation for people who want to bring their | :07:54. | :07:58.
husbands or wives here and give them extra privacy. Bergkamp has | :07:58. | :08:02.
its own shop and bar, but here, they insist they are contributing | :08:02. | :08:07.
to the economy -- the camp. Decent us worry about the number of | :08:07. | :08:12.
jobs for English people? -- do you seem to worry? A again under send | :08:12. | :08:17.
wide. But to the English person comes and Basque for a job, we can | :08:18. | :08:21.
try and get them-that -- if any English person comes and asks for a | :08:21. | :08:28.
job. By the end of the year, it could have doubled. | :08:28. | :08:31.
Tornado bombers flew direct from RAF Marham in Norfolk to attack a | :08:31. | :08:35.
bunker in Colonel Gadaffi's home town of Sirte. The MoD said they | :08:35. | :08:42.
used Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Most of the missions by Marham | :08:42. | :08:44.
Tornados over Libya have been mounted from an airfield in Italy. | :08:44. | :08:48.
A woman who shot her ex-partner at a farm in Norfolk, because he'd met | :08:48. | :08:51.
someone else, has been jailed for 24 years for his murder. Katherine | :08:51. | :08:54.
Hodges shot John Loveday in June at Stratton Strawless. The police | :08:54. | :08:56.
described her as a controlling character. She admitted going to | :08:56. | :09:00.
the farm with a loaded rifle. Drivers who use the A14 in Suffolk | :09:00. | :09:03.
will have to follow a diversion of 37 miles this autumn while | :09:03. | :09:09.
roadworks are carried out. The plan, which will take the traffic through | :09:09. | :09:14.
a number of small villages, has led to a wave of complaints. | :09:14. | :09:17.
The village of Elmswell - rural and quiet, apart from the occasional | :09:17. | :09:21.
lorry. And the Parish Council would like to keep it that way, but they | :09:21. | :09:31.
:09:31. | :09:34. | ||
say Elmswell is bound to be used as a shortcut. Are there any thick | :09:34. | :09:38.
lorry drivers about? No. They have sat-nav, they have done it before | :09:38. | :09:42.
and they will come through the Willett -- village. We blame the | :09:42. | :09:45.
Highways Agency. It is crazy. When I presented it to buy councillors | :09:46. | :09:51.
that the screen last meeting, they burst into laughter. -- Mike. | :09:52. | :09:56.
this is the proposed route. Instead of going straight from Ipswich to | :09:56. | :10:00.
Bury St Edmunds on the A14, traffic will have to go up the A140 to Diss | :10:00. | :10:03.
and along the A143 to Bury St Edmunds - a diversion of about 37 | :10:03. | :10:11.
miles. The detour is planned for 12 nights between 7pm and 6am. | :10:11. | :10:16.
Estate mad, the Highways Agency said the statement -- the diversion | :10:16. | :10:19.
is designed to help people who don't know the most suitable roads | :10:19. | :10:24.
and that the diversion will be well signposted and suggestions will be | :10:24. | :10:28.
given to heavier vehicles coming from Felixstowe and Ipswich. But | :10:28. | :10:32.
villagers in Elmswell aren't convinced it's a good idea. We get | :10:32. | :10:36.
loads of lorries coming through, it is going to get worse. I come | :10:36. | :10:39.
through at 6 o'clock in the morning and there are calls roaring through. | :10:39. | :10:43.
It is very noisy and we will get a lot of truckers coming through. | :10:43. | :10:47.
Night times are going to be worst. And there were con the A14 is due | :10:47. | :10:53.
to begin in October. -- of the work A park and ride scheme costing 3.4 | :10:53. | :10:56.
million has been approved for the outskirts of Colchester. It will be | :10:56. | :10:59.
built on a greenfield site near the Colchester United football ground | :10:59. | :11:03.
at Cuckoo Farm. There will be parking for up to 1,000 vehicles, | :11:03. | :11:06.
with buses into the town centre and to the railway station. | :11:06. | :11:10.
Accidents in heavy rain closed a slip road off the M11 this morning. | :11:10. | :11:14.
It happened at Junction 9 near Hinxton. A van rolled over at the | :11:14. | :11:18.
turn-off for the A11. Then two cars collided behind an ambulance which | :11:18. | :11:22.
had turned up to help. Two people from the cars were taken to | :11:22. | :11:28.
hospital. Plans to scrap permit parking for | :11:28. | :11:31.
residents in Great Yarmouth have sparked a wave of complaints from | :11:31. | :11:34.
guest-house owners. The local council says it can't afford to | :11:34. | :11:38.
meet the annual cost of 100,000 to run it. | :11:38. | :11:42.
Jane Reynolds has owned the Merivon guesthouse for several years. She | :11:42. | :11:45.
helped set up the permit scheme back in 2006. Now she's fighting | :11:46. | :11:55.
hard to keep it. People that come on to the internet very often ring | :11:55. | :11:59.
us first. "what is your accommodation like? Have you got a | :11:59. | :12:05.
space?". The next question is always, what do we do about | :12:05. | :12:12.
parking? You have got to think about residents as well as | :12:12. | :12:16.
holidaymakers. Otherwise there's lot of resentment. I feel sorry for | :12:16. | :12:22.
residents if they have to give it up. The area under threat involves | :12:22. | :12:25.
65 streets close to the seafront. Residents currently pay 25 for a | :12:25. | :12:28.
yearly ticket, while a business permit costs 100. Last year, that | :12:28. | :12:30.
raised almost 78,000, but the Conservative-led borough council | :12:30. | :12:40.
say it's still operating at a loss. The permit numbers, the | :12:40. | :12:44.
applications, have been dropping. The amount of fines, interestingly | :12:44. | :12:48.
enough, has dropped significantly, because people, but it was first | :12:48. | :12:52.
brought in, were not aware of the situation and they were being | :12:52. | :12:57.
hammered. They have now got wise to it and the fines have dropped. | :12:57. | :13:00.
Businesses and residents say the scheme has always run at a small | :13:00. | :13:04.
deficit but until now, it had been propped up from the sea front pay | :13:04. | :13:07.
and display charges. They want to know why it cannot still continue | :13:08. | :13:12.
or whether the scheme could still be run more efficiently? Questions | :13:12. | :13:15.
campaigners say are still to be answered. The final decision lies | :13:15. | :13:18.
with the County Council. If approved, the scheme will be | :13:18. | :13:28.

Sport now and a packed programme of football this weekend. | :13:46. | :13:49.
For Norwich City, it's their biggest match so far in the Premier | :13:49. | :13:51.
League. The Canaries are off to Stamford | :13:51. | :13:54.
Bridge to play a Chelsea side brimming with international talent. | :13:54. | :13:56.
Here's Tom. First, news of an an injury blow | :13:56. | :13:59.
for Norwich. Defender Daniel Ayala has been ruled out for two months | :13:59. | :14:02.
with a knee problem. He's only just signed from Liverpool but had to | :14:02. | :14:06.
come off against MK Dons on Tuesday. Tomorrow, Norwich are at Chelsea. | :14:06. | :14:09.
Two draws for City so far. Now, we can't bring you interviews with the | :14:09. | :14:12.
Norwich manager or players but we can hear from Chris Sutton. He | :14:12. | :14:15.
played up front for both teams during his career and alongside | :14:15. | :14:22.
Paul Lambert at Celtic. Phil Daley went to meet him. | :14:22. | :14:27.
From the age of 14, his coach is now he would be a star. He won the | :14:27. | :14:32.
titles and broke transfer records and scored some fantastic bowls. | :14:32. | :14:38.
This is Chris Sutton, and the John Lukic couldn't stop bed. But before | :14:38. | :14:41.
the big-money moves, Chris Sutton played over 100 games for the | :14:41. | :14:44.
Canaries and wowed the Premier League. I started off with Dave | :14:44. | :14:48.
Stringer with manager and move on to Mike Walker and we had a good | :14:48. | :14:53.
European run. On the day, we had a good team. It was more of a level | :14:53. | :14:57.
playing field in those days. There was not the Gulf financially which | :14:58. | :15:01.
Norwich find themselves in at the moment, trying to match up against | :15:01. | :15:05.
the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. It was far more level in | :15:05. | :15:09.
those days. Anja played for Norwich in the Premier League. Your | :15:09. | :15:15.
feelings towards Norwich been there? Is it where they belong? | :15:15. | :15:20.
think so. The fans want to see a Norwich team who are competing, | :15:20. | :15:23.
which I think they built to this season. Paul Lambert has done | :15:23. | :15:29.
incredibly well. -- I think they will do. I expected them to get | :15:29. | :15:32.
their to Division One, but back-to- back promotions show what a great | :15:32. | :15:35.
job he has done four-star on Saturday after bedcover Stamford | :15:36. | :15:41.
Bridge, a grand but Chris Sutton knows plenty about. -- on Saturday | :15:41. | :15:44.
afternoon, it is Stamford Bridge, a grand Chris Sutton knows plenty | :15:44. | :15:50.
about. Back when I played, you could go to Stamford Bridge and be | :15:50. | :15:53.
confident about getting a result. Norwich have a chance, it is only a | :15:53. | :15:59.
small chance, but what they have in their favour is they do have a | :15:59. | :16:04.
resilience and they do have players who can cause problems. While his | :16:04. | :16:07.
10 million move to Chelsea never quite paid off, if he is now | :16:07. | :16:11.
putting pen to paper about his career as a footballer. I am sure | :16:11. | :16:14.
he will take 90 minutes off on Saturday to watch two of his former | :16:14. | :16:17.
clubs collide. Some transfer news just in. We | :16:18. | :16:20.
understand MK Dons striker Sam Baldock is on the verge of | :16:20. | :16:24.
completing a big-money move to West Ham. The fee's believed to be | :16:24. | :16:28.
around 2 million. Now to the rest of tomorrow's | :16:28. | :16:31.
football. How will Ipswich and Peterborough fare after last week's | :16:31. | :16:39.
incredible game? A moment of calm after a week of | :16:39. | :16:43.
frantic activity. After four straight defeats, finally success | :16:43. | :16:49.
on the transfer front. Three in, popular midfielder Jimmy Bullard, | :16:49. | :16:53.
centre-back Ibrahima Sonko and striker Darren Murphy. They are all | :16:53. | :16:57.
likely to be involved against Leeds. Jimmy hasn't played a lot of | :16:57. | :17:01.
football, he has been away from Hull for about four weeks, so we'll | :17:01. | :17:06.
we'll have to assess his fitness. There Murphy can play at wide left, | :17:06. | :17:11.
quite right, kids as options. We have relied on Michael Chopra too | :17:11. | :17:16.
much -- it gives us options. He scored within 21 seconds of his | :17:16. | :17:22.
debut. The goal came against Middlesbrough 18 months ago. But | :17:22. | :17:25.
it's in defence where Town have real worries. Conceding 12 times in | :17:25. | :17:28.
two games - seven of them at Peterborough. It was disappointing, | :17:28. | :17:32.
embarrassing, but it takes strong figures to come out on Saturday and | :17:32. | :17:39.
play against a very good lead side and put it right. -- Leeds. With | :17:39. | :17:42.
three goals in five games, Kayode Odejayi has reason to be happy. Not | :17:42. | :17:45.
so. With Colchester winning just once so far, the striker says it's | :17:45. | :17:48.
taken the gloss off his own goal- scoring form. The U's host Oldham | :17:48. | :17:50.
in League Two. In the league below, after starting | :17:50. | :17:57.
with two wins, Southend have suffered two defeats. It is a | :17:57. | :18:02.
difficult run, September is going to be very difficult. So many teams | :18:02. | :18:05.
that at the top end. We are a better team than we have showed and | :18:05. | :18:09.
have the bounce back. The Blues will hope to do just that at Port | :18:09. | :18:15.
The new president of the British Racing Drivers' Club, Derek Warwick, | :18:15. | :18:18.
says his main aim is to help secure private funding to develop | :18:18. | :18:20.
Silverstone further. The BRDC own the Northamptonshire circuit, which | :18:20. | :18:23.
is now one of the world's best venues. Warwick, who takes over | :18:23. | :18:27.
from Damon Hill, is also keen to develop young British talent. | :18:27. | :18:29.

England vs Germany starts at eight o'clock. They are very disciplined | :18:44. | :18:48.
and they penalise you, they wait for you to make mistakes. We have | :18:48. | :18:51.
beaten them in a couple of tournaments and hopefully we will | :18:51. | :18:54.
continue that, we are hopeful we can beat them. | :18:54. | :18:57.
In tennis, Elena Baltacha was knocked out of the Texas Open in | :18:57. | :19:01.
the quarter-finals. The Ipswich player lost in straight sets to | :19:01. | :19:04.
France's Aravane Rezai. Next up for Baltacha is next week's US Open, | :19:04. | :19:07.

We are down to what many regard as the last weekend of the summer | :19:34. | :19:37.
holidays and the region's tourist industry will be taking stock. So | :19:37. | :19:40.
far, it's looking pretty good. All the signs are that people have | :19:40. | :19:43.
continued to spend more leisure time at home on what has become | :19:43. | :19:46.
known as a "staycation". So what is the mood of the holiday industry? | :19:46. | :19:48.
Our chief reporter Kim Riley is at Caister-on-Sea. | :19:48. | :19:52.
Yes, how about this? Alcohol banned. No talking after 11pm. And a Sunday | :19:52. | :19:58.
afternoon treat - a lecture on the Labour movement. That was how it | :19:58. | :20:01.
was back in 1906, when Britain's very first holiday camp was opened | :20:01. | :20:09.
right here. John Dodd's socialist holiday camp offered breaks to the | :20:10. | :20:13.
families of working men from east London. Eventually, tents gave way | :20:13. | :20:18.
to huts and chalets. In the 1930s, an adult had to pay 2 pounds 2 | :20:18. | :20:24.
shillings to stay here for a week. Well, as you can imagine, things | :20:24. | :20:29.
are very different now, as we'll find out in a moment. First, let's | :20:29. | :20:37.
review the holiday season so far. It all began in a blaze of glory. | :20:37. | :20:41.
People took to the beaches as April and May raised hopes of a glorious | :20:41. | :20:49.
summer. But of course, it didn't last. The rains came. At the summer | :20:49. | :20:55.
festivals, at Latitude was a bloody affair. In Chelmsford, but I | :20:55. | :21:04.
umbrellas were up. -- muddy. Be sure, tourism trade is said to have | :21:04. | :21:08.
held up pretty well compared to last year. A hotelier's Association | :21:08. | :21:11.
says the last five years has seen more visitors coming for shorter | :21:11. | :21:17.
breaks off to-for days, leading to a greater turnover of guests. -- | :21:17. | :21:22.
two-four. The Blackburn family have visited his camper for years in a | :21:22. | :21:27.
row. We call it a baby black Paul Hartley eased, but clean-air. | :21:27. | :21:35.
we have come again for next year -- we call it the Blackpool of the | :21:35. | :21:39.
East. It is clear the Investment that has been made in the | :21:39. | :21:42.
accommodation and facilities over the last few years brings more | :21:42. | :21:48.
customers here and brings them back. At Colchester Zoo, a line of Lima's | :21:48. | :21:54.
shelter from the rain. Last year, visitors dropped by around 11%. | :21:54. | :21:58.
This year, helped by online special offers, the downward trend has been | :21:58. | :22:03.
reversed. On a good year, we attract around about 500,000 people | :22:04. | :22:08.
to the zoo. This year, we are about 12% up, so we would like to think | :22:08. | :22:13.
that by November, we are looking at Knierim of half-a-million visitors. | :22:13. | :22:18.
For Milton Keynes Theatre has as one of the most successful outside | :22:18. | :22:24.
London -- is. Milton Keynes itself is a serious visitors magnet. | :22:24. | :22:28.
concert that took place at the start of July brought in 100 and | :22:28. | :22:34.
that it 1,000 people over two days, which is huge. -- 130,000 people. | :22:34. | :22:37.
With acres of open spaces and attractions, Milton Keynes is | :22:37. | :22:43.
delivering the goods for a vital industry. | :22:43. | :22:46.
Back here at the Caister Holiday Park, there is a volleyball match | :22:46. | :22:52.
going on. 1,000 caravans and chalets Arnside and people are | :22:52. | :22:57.
sheltering under the shade sticky bout of the rain, having a drink -- | :22:57. | :23:01.
and the shades, staying out of the rain. Well, the Caister Holiday | :23:01. | :23:04.
Park is 105 years old. It's now operated by Haven Holidays. The | :23:04. | :23:07.
general manager is Gary Cook. You can't just have knobbly knees | :23:07. | :23:11.
competitions anymore. No, you can't. We have had significant investments | :23:11. | :23:15.
over the years. We have recently had a refurbished indoor swimming | :23:15. | :23:20.
pool, we have had this built and we are looking for sizable investment | :23:20. | :23:26.
over the winter. If the weather is good, what do you offer? There is a | :23:26. | :23:29.
multitude of activities. But there are two show bars, entertainment in | :23:29. | :23:35.
the activities that capers -- caters for all ages, we have our | :23:35. | :23:40.
own teams of competitions, archery, fencing, bicycle hair -- bicycle | :23:40. | :23:45.
hire... Enough. And how our bookings going? They have held up | :23:45. | :23:49.
well. We had a good start to the year which have levelled across the | :23:49. | :23:54.
summer, we have been fully booked for the six-month summer holiday -- | :23:54. | :23:58.
six weeks. We have tried to keep the same price band as 2010 and | :23:58. | :24:01.
they sure everybody gets good value for money forced up thank you very | :24:01. | :24:05.
much, that is what everybody are looking for more and more. -- thank | :24:05. | :24:10.
you very much. We have run around a lot of different tour operators and | :24:10. | :24:13.
they do give a very bullish message, perhaps surprisingly, but the | :24:13. | :24:18.
weather could be a lot better! Band you very much. We might think | :24:18. | :24:22.
that the weather could be better but we are lucky we are not on the | :24:22. | :24:27.
East Coast of America. That is right, we do have a | :24:27. | :24:29.
Hurricane Irene the Atlantic at the Hurricane Irene the Atlantic at the | :24:29. | :24:32.
moment. Hurricane Irene, it just made its way through the Caribbean | :24:32. | :24:38.
and it is now pushing its way towards North Carolina. At about 2 | :24:38. | :24:41.
am our time tonight, we will see hurricane-force winds pushing near | :24:41. | :24:47.
the course -- coast of North Carolina. And in the early hours of | :24:48. | :24:50.
Sunday our time, it could bring strong winds to New York City, and | :24:51. | :24:54.
it is very rare for a barricade to make it that far north, but it | :24:54. | :25:04.
:25:04. | :25:05. | ||
could bring very gusty winds -- It is a category to. Expected to | :25:05. | :25:09.
maintain that the strength, at least fast North Carolina at -- two. | :25:09. | :25:15.
Back home, a lot of rain here today, that will continue to push away but | :25:15. | :25:19.
it will continue to bring unsettled weather before the next day or so. | :25:19. | :25:24.
All of that rain drifting from south to north across the region, | :25:24. | :25:27.
and some of the showers at this afternoon did turn a bit of | :25:27. | :25:32.
thundery across Essex. As we go through the rest of the evening, we | :25:32. | :25:35.
will continue to see some showers flinging around, so they will fade | :25:35. | :25:41.
a bit of tonight. You can see the graphic showing a bit of showery | :25:41. | :25:44.
rain just about anywhere this evening, but it will become more | :25:44. | :25:49.
patchy, particularly for eastern parts of the region. Overnight, you | :25:49. | :25:53.
can see the showers hanging on back in the West and towards the end of | :25:53. | :25:58.
the night, cloudy and damp. Temperatures no lower than 11 or 12 | :25:58. | :26:04.
degrees Celsius, with a light West- north-westerly breeze. For the bank | :26:04. | :26:07.
holiday weekend, there will be showers around at first but it will | :26:07. | :26:10.
become drier and brighter towards the end of the weekend. We get rid | :26:10. | :26:14.
of the showers for a time on Saturday morning but they will | :26:14. | :26:18.
redevelop through the course of the day and a few of those, | :26:18. | :26:22.
particularly across northern part of the area, could see a heavy | :26:22. | :26:28.
downpour. Maybe the odd rumble of thunder. 17 or 18 degrees. A | :26:28. | :26:33.
moderate westerly winds, so breezier around those showers. The | :26:33. | :26:36.
showers will generally fade away through Saturday evening which is a | :26:36. | :26:39.
sign of slightly better weather to come. This area of high pressure | :26:39. | :26:44.
will move its way into western Britain and will be a cross by the | :26:44. | :26:47.
end of the Bank Holiday weekend, bringing some drier weather. -- | :26:48. | :26:53.
across. Isolated showers on Sunday but by Monday, trying out just | :26:53. | :27:00.
about everywhere. 18 or 19 Celsius. By the middle part of the week, it | :27:00. | :27:04.
will warm up a little bit. Overnight lows, eight or nine | :27:04. | :27:07.
degrees Celsius, just a touch below average for the time of year. That | :27:07. | :27:10. |
