Hello and welcome to Look East. In the programme tonight: | :00:05. | :00:10.
A trail of destruction as a tornado wreaks havoc in an Essex village. | :00:10. | :00:17.
Next thing I knew the wind blew me over backwards onto the ground. I | :00:17. | :00:20.
saw these bits of debris coming towards me, I managed to scramble | :00:20. | :00:24.
out the way into the woodshed. The convicted murderer Jeremy | :00:24. | :00:28.
Bamber has lost his latest bid to prove his innocence. 26 years later, | :00:28. | :00:32.
we're still coming up and he's still pleading his innocence. I | :00:32. | :00:37.
find it quite extraordinary. Criticism of the expenses system at | :00:37. | :00:40.
Essex County Council when the disgraced peer Lord Hanningfield | :00:40. | :00:46.
was in charge. And find out why we made a beeline | :00:46. | :00:56.
:00:56. | :01:03. | ||
Parts of a farm in Essex have been left in ruins after a tornado. It | :01:03. | :01:06.
lasted just a few minutes but buildings were sent into the air | :01:06. | :01:10.
and trees were uprooted. Brook Street Farm near Halstead was hit | :01:10. | :01:15.
late yesterday afternoon as violent storms passed across the region. | :01:15. | :01:19.
The winds were so strong that one man said he was lifted off his feet. | :01:19. | :01:29.
:01:29. | :01:30. | ||
Our Essex reporter Gareth George is Welcome to Brook Street Farm or | :01:30. | :01:34.
should I say what is left of it. This was at the epicentre of the | :01:34. | :01:39.
damage. You can see some of it now. Some of the smashed roofing tiles | :01:39. | :01:44.
on the ground. And look at what has happened to this barn. The roof has | :01:44. | :01:48.
completely gone. It was here at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon but | :01:48. | :01:52.
within minutes, it was reduced to splinters. You might be able to see | :01:53. | :01:57.
some of what is left of it in piles here. This was just some of the | :01:57. | :02:07.
:02:07. | :02:08. | ||
damage caused when the tornado The Borough brothers look at the | :02:08. | :02:12.
wreckage of their farm -- barrow brothers. It took the tornado just | :02:12. | :02:17.
seconds to cause around 100,000 worth of damage. This route is the | :02:17. | :02:24.
main piece of damage. -- this roof and two chicken sheds with the | :02:24. | :02:27.
chickens right in it and took it down the field. We had to rescue | :02:27. | :02:31.
them before the fox got to them all too chicken sheds, picked up and | :02:31. | :02:41.
:02:41. | :02:42. | ||
thrown around. Every river has a -- every roof has a gaping hole. The | :02:43. | :02:47.
farmer said it was frightening. heard this rush of the wind and the | :02:47. | :02:50.
wind and to see what was happening. The next thing I knew, the wind | :02:50. | :02:56.
blew me backwards onto the ground. I saw these bits of debris and a | :02:56. | :03:00.
complete roof coming towards me and take cover in the workshop. I saw | :03:00. | :03:04.
it all come down in front of me. Nearby in the hamlet of White Ash | :03:04. | :03:10.
Green, more damage. Trees uprooted and debris strewn around. I have | :03:10. | :03:16.
got two Chicken shed blown away and cattle sheds without rooves, some | :03:16. | :03:21.
cattle slightly injured. No electricity. The police say it is | :03:21. | :03:26.
amazing nobody was hurt and that Brook Street Farm, the repairs | :03:26. | :03:30.
could take months for all stopped we have moved to one of the other | :03:30. | :03:33.
outbuildings here and we can show you some more of the damage. | :03:33. | :03:38.
You should be able to see a great big gaping hole in the roof of this | :03:38. | :03:42.
plan and there were cattle in here when they tornado struck, | :03:42. | :03:45.
incredible that none of those were seriously injured when the roof | :03:45. | :03:50.
crashed to the ground. But talking to the farmer, the damage minus six | :03:50. | :03:54.
figures. He is trying to work out whether he is insured because | :03:54. | :03:58.
apparently insuring yourself for storm damage if you are a farmer is | :03:58. | :04:02.
extremely expensive and many of them do not do so so the farmer | :04:02. | :04:05.
here going through his insurance papers just try to work out what | :04:06. | :04:10.
the situation is that there's real relief here that no one was | :04:10. | :04:14.
seriously injured by this tornado. Thank you. | :04:14. | :04:18.
For the rest of us it's just miserable and wet and for our | :04:18. | :04:21.
biggest industry. Tourism the season is starting badly. It's | :04:21. | :04:24.
worth 6.2 billion a year to the region's economy and in a recession | :04:24. | :04:27.
traders are looking for a strong start to 2012. But today some | :04:27. | :04:34.
businesses said that takings are 70% down on this time last year. | :04:34. | :04:42.
Easter weekend a year ago. 26 Celsius - hotter than Madrid. | :04:42. | :04:47.
Lowestoft today, 13 Celsius and very wet. Regulars at the Tide's | :04:47. | :04:52.
Reach tearooms sought shelter in a doorway. Takings here this Easter | :04:52. | :05:02.
:05:02. | :05:02. | ||
were down 70%. High winds, rain, it really is doom and gloom. People's | :05:02. | :05:07.
spirits are low. We just wanted the sun to start shining so people | :05:07. | :05:10.
start feeling happier, and can enjoy the seafront here at | :05:10. | :05:14.
Lowestoft. Nearby, part of the sea wall has collapsed. The stormy | :05:14. | :05:20.
weather and strong onshore winds have eaten away the beach. | :05:20. | :05:24.
analogy I would draw is like a chainsaw. Winds driven at the top, | :05:25. | :05:31.
undercurrents and water, drawing the material out. Material comes | :05:31. | :05:34.
from the upper beach and converts it into something that looked like | :05:34. | :05:38.
this prior to the more significant weather, it would flatten out and | :05:38. | :05:41.
perhaps lead a steeper face of it at the top edge. | :05:41. | :05:44.
With no immediate end in sight to the wet weather, punts stood idle | :05:44. | :05:51.
on the River Cam in Cambridge. comparison to previous Aprils, a | :05:51. | :05:55.
couple of 1,000 pounds per day and now as you can see, it has calmed | :05:55. | :05:58.
down dramatically. Today those behind some of the region's leading | :05:58. | :06:01.
tourist attractions met in Bury St Edmunds. The board of Visit East | :06:01. | :06:07.
Anglia all aware that customers are becoming increasingly savvy. There | :06:07. | :06:12.
are still an awful lot of visitors out there an awful lot to do in | :06:12. | :06:15.
rain but yes, it has had an effect with us. We are slightly down on | :06:15. | :06:20.
where we would like to be. five-day forecast is an influence | :06:20. | :06:25.
on what people decide to do the following weekend and we look at | :06:25. | :06:29.
the BBC weather forecasts and see what the likely outcome will be. | :06:29. | :06:35.
Will it be wet or dry? And make plans accordingly. It is a really | :06:35. | :06:38.
important influencing factor when people decide what to do. | :06:38. | :06:44.
unfortunately for the next few days at least, unsettled is the word. | :06:44. | :06:46.
The convicted murderer Jeremy Bamber has lost another attempt to | :06:46. | :06:52.
clear his name. He was jailed in 1986 for murdering five members of | :06:52. | :06:56.
his family in their farmhouse at Tolleshunt D'Arcy in Essex. He has | :06:56. | :06:58.
never stopped claiming he is innocent. Today the Criminal Cases | :06:58. | :07:01.
Review Commission refused permission to allow the case to go | :07:01. | :07:10.
back to the Court of Appeal. Nowhere was today's decision been | :07:10. | :07:13.
more eagerly anticipated that at Full Sutton prison in Yorkshire. | :07:13. | :07:21.
From inside, prisoner A5355 to Aseat broke the news on his Twitter | :07:21. | :07:27.
page. To some that is a relief. have made it clear that we think it | :07:27. | :07:30.
is guilty and we wanted the guilty person to come out and therefore | :07:30. | :07:36.
you wanted retribution to the people who have suggested that he | :07:36. | :07:41.
is guilty. Bamber's denials of guilt have never changed over 26 | :07:41. | :07:44.
years behind bars but his appearance has. Essex police found | :07:44. | :07:50.
the bodies of his adoptive parents, his sister and her two six-year- | :07:50. | :08:00.
olds. They had been shot in his farmhouse. He insisted that | :08:00. | :08:08.
somebody else did the killings and then turned the gun on herself. | :08:08. | :08:12.
Bamber said he was shocked and extremely disappointed adding that | :08:12. | :08:16.
"I shall continue to campaign to prove my innocence in every way I | :08:16. | :08:21.
can". Campaigners have gathered around his campaign. If we | :08:21. | :08:24.
Transport Today the way we deal with crime looking at the evidence | :08:25. | :08:28.
that existed in 1985, if the evidence today was put before a | :08:28. | :08:34.
court, I did believe he would be found guilty. Bamber faces the rest | :08:34. | :08:38.
of his life behind bars. Today's decision has not changed that but | :08:38. | :08:43.
it also has not ended his campaign Earlier I spoke to Simon McKay, | :08:43. | :08:46.
Jeremy Bamber's lawyer. He told me the notoriety of the case made the | :08:46. | :08:53.
situation more complicated. In my professional experience which now | :08:53. | :08:59.
extends over 20 years, I have never known a case polarised groups of | :08:59. | :09:03.
people in the way that this case does. I have been involved in | :09:03. | :09:07.
politically sensitive cases in my career as well as orthodox cases. | :09:07. | :09:12.
It seems that this case falls into two distinct camps. Those that the | :09:12. | :09:18.
amendment to lead -- that that BM - - vehemently believe he is a cold- | :09:18. | :09:23.
blooded killer and those that do not. Resolving the polarisation is | :09:23. | :09:33.
typically done. -- difficult play dumb. -- difficult. This is as we | :09:33. | :09:38.
say a very clear dismissal by the Commission. What can your next move | :09:38. | :09:43.
the? Is this the end of the road was Mike no, it is not. We are | :09:43. | :09:48.
already considering a major judicial review -- is this the end | :09:48. | :09:56.
They have overstepped their functioned as the organisation that | :09:56. | :10:00.
is to determine whether the statutory tests for referral back | :10:00. | :10:07.
is made out as opposed to testing the evidence itself. Looking | :10:07. | :10:10.
already at challenging this decision before the High Court to | :10:10. | :10:15.
see if we can persuade the High Court to direct that the commission | :10:15. | :10:17.
reconsider the matter. We have heard from family members to say | :10:17. | :10:21.
that every time this comes up, it is very difficult and traumatic for | :10:21. | :10:28.
them. Do you have sympathy for them? Listen, at any level, this | :10:28. | :10:33.
case is deeply, deeply tragic. Five people lost their lives. Of course, | :10:33. | :10:38.
I have got the deepest sympathy for the victims of the White House Farm | :10:38. | :10:43.
shooting. But my function here is to advise my client on the merits | :10:43. | :10:47.
of an appeal against his conviction. In my view, the submission that | :10:47. | :10:51.
went to the commission in January was sufficient to justify a | :10:51. | :10:54.
referral back and it was a matter for the Court of Appeal to test | :10:54. | :10:59.
quite properly the validity of that evidence. That is what must happen. | :10:59. | :11:03.
Jeremy Bamber is quite right to continue to pursue this matter. | :11:03. | :11:10.
Until he has no avenues or exhaust every opportunity open to him to do | :11:10. | :11:16.
Thank you. Still to come: The weight loss plan | :11:16. | :11:19.
invented here and now doing very well around the world. And Kevin | :11:19. | :11:26.
Burch surrounded by silk and sequins. You're going to a fancy- | :11:26. | :11:30.
dress party, but you're never too sure what to wear. Here, you're | :11:30. | :11:35.
spoilt for choice. 8,000 costumes in total and they are all going | :11:35. | :11:45.
:11:45. | :11:48. | ||
under the hammer. More on that Major flaws have been highlighted | :11:48. | :11:50.
in the expenses system at Essex County Council. Auditors have | :11:50. | :11:53.
expressed serious concerns about the lack of control over claims | :11:53. | :11:56.
made by councillors when Lord Hanningfield was leader. He was | :11:56. | :12:06.
:12:06. | :12:09. | ||
sent to prison for fiddling his own For council tax payers here in | :12:09. | :12:13.
Essex, this is about how their money was spent and the money that | :12:13. | :12:17.
should have been in place. The auditors looked at the systems | :12:17. | :12:23.
operating at County Hall back in and expressed serious concerns | :12:23. | :12:26.
about the lack of control over corporate credit cards. They said | :12:26. | :12:28.
poor record-keeping made it hard to see if chauffeur-driven cars were | :12:28. | :12:31.
being misused, and that gifts and hospitality weren't always being | :12:31. | :12:34.
registered properly. This was while Lord Hanningfield was leader of | :12:34. | :12:44.
:12:44. | :12:47. | ||
Essex County Council. 2009 it has only just been made public. Overall, | :12:47. | :12:49.
auditors felt the guidance on expenses wasn't clear and that | :12:49. | :12:52.
there was no system to properly scrutinise or question claims put | :12:52. | :12:58.
in by councillors and officers. These are not small amounts of | :12:58. | :13:05.
money, in 2008/9, the total claim came to 140,000. The sort of | :13:05. | :13:09.
amount of money you would assume would be carefully counted. But the | :13:09. | :13:15.
auditors also... Feel significant progress has been made as the | :13:15. | :13:22.
current leaders of Essex County Council are keen to point out. | :13:22. | :13:26.
have a new constitution, new members' expenses system. We | :13:26. | :13:31.
publish every night and lot numbers' expenses on our website. | :13:31. | :13:36.
We publish every about over 500 at the County Council spent on our | :13:36. | :13:40.
website. We are totally open and transparent about everything we | :13:40. | :13:46.
spend. Lord Hanningfield, the former leader, was convicted over | :13:46. | :13:50.
his parliamentary expenses and the City of London police are still | :13:50. | :13:56.
Five employees have been suspended after an animal rights group | :13:56. | :13:59.
carried out secret filming at two farms in Norfolk. The East Anglian | :13:59. | :14:02.
Pig Company which runs the farms says it won't tolerate animal | :14:02. | :14:07.
mistreatment. But the RSPCA says it won't be prosecuting. | :14:07. | :14:12.
A nightclub in Norwich has been stripped of its licence. The police | :14:12. | :14:15.
say there had been high levels of drunkenness and crime at the Wafou | :14:15. | :14:18.
club in Prince of Wales Road. The city council withdrew its licence | :14:18. | :14:21.
after hearing that discussions with the club to clean up its act had | :14:21. | :14:27.
failed. More than 700 people have signed a | :14:27. | :14:30.
petition against a plans for an Islamic community centre in King's | :14:30. | :14:34.
Lynn. If it goes ahead it would be opened in a former pub. A final | :14:34. | :14:41.
decision will be made next week. This used to be a thriving pub. But | :14:41. | :14:45.
for the past year, The Queen's Arms has been boarded up and abandoned. | :14:45. | :14:47.
Now the West Norfolk Islamic Association want to convert it into | :14:47. | :14:52.
a centre for prayers, meetings and social gatherings. The vast | :14:52. | :14:59.
majority of people would not know it is there. People are being | :14:59. | :15:04.
invited from out of the region to discuss religion. It's great that | :15:04. | :15:09.
they can go to a community centre in King's Lynn. But objectors say | :15:09. | :15:13.
there are already enough community centres. We have got one here which | :15:13. | :15:18.
is going out of use. Down here in Hillington square two minutes' walk | :15:18. | :15:23.
which is quite adequate for them. Why do they need an exclusive | :15:23. | :15:26.
community centre for themselves? The council has also removed some | :15:26. | :15:30.
of what it has called offensive messages from its website in fact | :15:30. | :15:34.
early today, it was shut down completely. | :15:34. | :15:37.
This is obviously a sensitive issue. I have spoken to a number of people | :15:37. | :15:41.
who live near here and none of whom would appear on camera. It seems | :15:41. | :15:46.
that their main concerns are that the centre would make this area a | :15:46. | :15:50.
target for community tensions. Not so, say those working to make | :15:50. | :15:55.
King's Lynn more integrated. People need to learn about the differences | :15:55. | :15:59.
that exist between all the different people that live and work | :15:59. | :16:02.
in King's Lynn and West Norfolk and once people know and understand | :16:02. | :16:07.
those differences, I think it is a lot easier for them to accept them | :16:07. | :16:13.
and for everybody to work and live alongside each other haply. | :16:13. | :16:19.
council will make the final decision on Monday. | :16:19. | :16:22.
A troubled hospital in Norfolk has appointed a new chairman. The James | :16:22. | :16:25.
Paget Hospital in Gorleston has been given a number of critical | :16:25. | :16:28.
reports by inspectors. David Wright who was previously the Director of | :16:28. | :16:31.
Social Services at Norfolk County Council will take up the post in | :16:31. | :16:33.
June. The Red Arrows will be performing | :16:33. | :16:36.
again at the Clacton Air Show this summer. It was forced to pull out | :16:36. | :16:45.
last year after a plane crashed during a display just a week before. | :16:45. | :16:48.
This time next week, voting will be under way in 19 councils across the | :16:48. | :16:51.
region. The Conservatives are likely to stay in control of most | :16:51. | :16:54.
of them but Labour are hoping for some notable gains. One of their | :16:54. | :17:04.
:17:04. | :17:06. | ||
targets is Norwich where no party The politics of Norwich City | :17:06. | :17:10.
council regularly confounds the best of political analyst. For most | :17:10. | :17:14.
of the last 40 years, it has been dominated by the Labour Party. But | :17:14. | :17:21.
another party keeps getting in the way. I am from the Green Party. | :17:21. | :17:24.
just three seats less than Labour, the greens and that the main | :17:24. | :17:27.
opposition on the city council. Once again they are hoping that | :17:27. | :17:31.
this will be the year they take control. But it is going to be hard | :17:31. | :17:34.
- many of their councillors have decided not to seek re-election so | :17:34. | :17:38.
there's a lot of new faces on the doorstep and Labour are doing well | :17:38. | :17:42.
in the opinion polls. We would bring services in-house which means | :17:42. | :17:47.
that the council would be directly responsible for providing services | :17:47. | :17:50.
and the other one is that we would improve communication. I think | :17:51. | :17:55.
there are enough votes for us in Norwich and people will work for us. | :17:55. | :17:59.
Labour has been running City Hall as a minority administration for | :17:59. | :18:02.
the last few years. It boasts that despite government cuts, it has | :18:02. | :18:08.
been able to find savings of 4.6 million without harming services. | :18:08. | :18:12.
Housing is a big issue here and Labour say the quality and quantity | :18:12. | :18:16.
has improved. To move from a situation three years ago were the | :18:16. | :18:19.
ordered Commission was telling us that we will not delivering and not | :18:19. | :18:23.
very good, we were an old fashioned kind of housing department to an | :18:23. | :18:27.
organisation which has been building houses, won national | :18:27. | :18:30.
awards for tenant involvement. It has been really positive. But it | :18:31. | :18:35.
has not all gone smoothly. The collapse of the Council Contractor | :18:35. | :18:39.
and then fountains which replaced it is being used by opposition | :18:39. | :18:42.
parties and particularly Conservatives as proof that Labour | :18:42. | :18:46.
cannot be trusted to run the council. Contracts collapsing left | :18:46. | :18:51.
right and centre, they cannot collect council tax, business rates | :18:51. | :18:54.
and the City Council Trust is not fit for purpose. The Tories who | :18:54. | :18:58.
only have two seat on the council know that the current lack of | :18:58. | :19:01.
popularity of the Government will make things hard for them and also | :19:01. | :19:05.
the Lib Dems, down to just four councillors and hoping voters will | :19:05. | :19:09.
vote on local bother about national issues. It is clear on the doorstep | :19:09. | :19:12.
that people recognise that we are strong local campaigners for them | :19:12. | :19:17.
and we have councillors, people respond but positively. People | :19:17. | :19:21.
coming out and thanking us for the work we have done. Butler dams and | :19:21. | :19:27.
Conservatives would like to make gains here but the main battle in | :19:27. | :19:32.
Norwich is between Labour and the Greens -- both the Lib Dems and the | :19:32. | :19:34.
Conservatives would like to make gains. | :19:34. | :19:37.
As well as the three parties featured in that report, UKIP is | :19:37. | :19:44.
also standing in Norwich. There's a full list of candidates on the | :19:44. | :19:49.
As many businesses struggle in the recession, a slimming company in | :19:49. | :19:55.
this region has won a prestigious Queen's Award for Export. The | :19:55. | :20:04.
Cambridge Weight Plan used to be known as the Cambridge Diet. It's | :20:04. | :20:07.
actually based in Corby and now has a turnover of more than 30 million | :20:07. | :20:09.
a year. This Corby factory produces one | :20:09. | :20:13.
million milkshake sachets a week. It sells its flavoured bars, soup | :20:13. | :20:16.
and porridge around the world and has seen huge growth in South East | :20:17. | :20:26.

Asia and the Middle East. The basic criteria for the ward was growth in | :20:28. | :20:33.
export sales over a three-year period -- the award. We have grown | :20:33. | :20:38.
by nearly 120% in those three years. But I think it is a lot more than | :20:38. | :20:43.
that. We are working in a really important area. Combating obesity, | :20:43. | :20:47.
it is a growing problem around the world. Now based in Corby, the | :20:47. | :20:50.
original research was carried out in Cambridge in the 1970s by Dr | :20:50. | :20:57.
Alan Howard. It was regarded by some as Wishful thinking. Potential | :20:57. | :21:00.
health concerns were raised about the affects of rapid weight loss. | :21:00. | :21:03.
But it was launched as the Cambridge Diet more than a quarter | :21:03. | :21:07.
of a century ago. It involves eating between 440 and 1,500 | :21:07. | :21:16.
calories a day and complies with all the legislation. It now employs | :21:16. | :21:18.
177 people, provides 2,000 weight plan consultants across the UK and | :21:18. | :21:28.
:21:28. | :21:29. | ||
has sold that idea across the globe. It never ceases to amaze me that | :21:29. | :21:34.
the size of the company - we have five units now and we produce for | :21:34. | :21:38.
the whole world. It amazes me that it all comes out of this tiny | :21:38. | :21:42.
factory. It can now use this emblem to market the company for the next | :21:42. | :21:50.
five years, in which it hopes to So the invite comes for a fancy | :21:50. | :21:55.
dress party. The only problem - what to wear? In Bury St Edmunds, | :21:55. | :21:59.
there is something for everybody. From pop stars to pirates and sumo | :21:59. | :22:06.
wrestlers to spacemen. A total of 8,000 and they're all going under | :22:06. | :22:16.
:22:16. | :22:16. | ||
There's so much choice that it is tough to decide what fancy dress | :22:16. | :22:21.
takes your fancy. It is great. I am like a child in a sweetie shop like | :22:21. | :22:27.
smack may be something to cap everything off? A bit too big. | :22:27. | :22:31.
Maybe not. But finding the kit that fits is also proving a tall order | :22:31. | :22:38.
for six-foot-five Richard. I came to look for the town crier but | :22:38. | :22:45.
being such a little bloke, I can't get into the close! -- clothes. | :22:45. | :22:49.
Rail upon rail, row upon row and no matter what you're after it's bound | :22:49. | :22:56.
to be here somewhere. Have you got any pirates? Lovely. | :22:56. | :22:59.
Thank you ever so much. The collection has been built over 30 | :22:59. | :23:02.
years by Maureen Hammond. But now she's retiring from her costume | :23:02. | :23:10.
hire business. Everything is up for auction. It is not easy, it is very | :23:10. | :23:16.
hard. I had a pantomime group come back with a bunch of flowers and it | :23:16. | :23:23.
was I found it very unexpected, I had a few tears. It is very hard. | :23:23. | :23:28.
Especially to let something go or even all of them. You have got | :23:28. | :23:32.
8,000 costumes to get through. You will have to go fast. Luckily, | :23:33. | :23:37.
8,000 costumes but only 800 lots. It will take around six hours. | :23:37. | :23:41.
will have a bit of sweat on your brow? Yes, a strong bladder is all | :23:41. | :23:46.
you need! Always washing and ironing never stop. You will be sad | :23:46. | :23:53.
to see them go but not unhappy to have a rest? Yes. The sale starts | :23:53. | :24:02.
at ten. There's bound to be a real I think he was enjoying himself too | :24:03. | :24:12.
:24:13. | :24:14. | ||
much there! I went to Swaffham and Here's a photograph of a double | :24:14. | :24:18.
rainbow taking in St Ives today, thank you for sending that in. I | :24:18. | :24:22.
will start with the satellite image to show you that some places are | :24:22. | :24:26.
enjoying some evening sunshine tonight as the skies clear. Winning | :24:26. | :24:33.
the radar pictures from earlier, -- running the radar pictures, you can | :24:33. | :24:36.
see the low pressure is driving the system at the moment and the | :24:36. | :24:42.
showers swelling around that area of low pressure. Right now, you | :24:42. | :24:48.
will see most places are dry right now. A few showers in the far west | :24:48. | :24:52.
of the region. Overnight, most places should have a dry night with | :24:52. | :24:56.
still a chance of some isolated shower was but only further west. | :24:56. | :24:59.
We should not be bothered by a frost tonight. Temperatures no | :25:00. | :25:04.
lower than six Celsius. It will stay pretty breezy and we are | :25:04. | :25:09.
recording some gusty winds around 40 mph which will ease slightly | :25:09. | :25:15.
overnight but we are looking at a freshening force around the coast. | :25:15. | :25:19.
Tomorrow could be a fairly cloudy day all in all and there will be | :25:19. | :25:23.
some scattered showers and some could be on the heavy side. And | :25:23. | :25:27.
perhaps a bright start for some first thing tomorrow but it will | :25:27. | :25:30.
quickly cloud over with a good scattering of the showers. They do | :25:31. | :25:36.
have a potential to turn heavily and thundery. An overall height of | :25:36. | :25:41.
14 Celsius with the winds variable, much lighter in and and turning | :25:41. | :25:50.
more north-westerly. A risk of some showers through the afternoon, | :25:50. | :25:54.
still potential for them to be on the heavy side. Looking to the | :25:54. | :25:58.
weekend, it might be dry to start with but there is an area of low | :25:58. | :26:01.
pressure moving from the Bay of Biscay looking like it will turn | :26:01. | :26:05.
things fairly wet and windy through the weekend so the unsettled | :26:05. | :26:10.
weather is certainly with us for a few days. You will see bright | :26:10. | :26:14.
intervals Black Wednesday. The start of May could be dry and a bit | :26:14. | :26:17.
warmer but before we get there, we have got some showery days with | :26:17. | :26:21.
some unsettled weather and some rain turning up later on Saturday, | :26:21. | :26:26.
bringing us some showers. All in all, a damp weekend. And our | :26:26. | :26:36. |
