Hello and welcome to Look East. In the programme tonight: | :00:07. | :00:13.
More than 30 people are moved out of their homes as strong winds and high | :00:13. | :00:16.
tides cause problems along the coast. My husband is away so I am | :00:16. | :00:24.
very worried. Staff are suspended as police | :00:24. | :00:28.
investigate the care of a man at this mental health hospital shortly | :00:28. | :00:34.
before he died. How dare they turn around and say to me that you can't | :00:34. | :00:38.
stand for the National Anthem? The veteran who was told he couldn't | :00:38. | :00:41.
stand for the anthem because of Health and Safety. | :00:41. | :00:44.
And it's been a roller—coaster year for Olympic champion Greg Rutherford | :00:44. | :00:45.
but he tells us why has no regrets. Hello, the weather has been causing | :00:45. | :01:00.
disruption along our coastline with strong winds and high tides bringing | :01:00. | :01:06.
about the threat of flooding. The first place to be hit was the | :01:06. | :01:10.
village of Walcott in North Norfolk, where more than 30 people were moved | :01:10. | :01:13.
from their homes. Throughout the day, the tidal surge travelled down | :01:13. | :01:17.
our coastline. It peaked in Maldon just two hours ago. Gareth George is | :01:17. | :01:27.
there now. —— Alex reports. This is a community used to chaotic | :01:27. | :01:33.
scenes. As high tide and gale force winds rage down the North Sea | :01:33. | :01:38.
towards Wolcott, emergency services persuade those on the seafront to | :01:38. | :01:41.
leave their homes and seek refuge in a local pub. Rita is one of 35 who | :01:41. | :01:48.
have signed in for coffee and comforting advice. It is already | :01:48. | :01:52.
flooded, the road. Whitbread you do not feel safe? No. We have been | :01:52. | :02:00.
flooded before. Everybody knows where we are and forewarned is | :02:00. | :02:04.
forearmed. My husband is away so I am very worried. On the seafront, | :02:04. | :02:11.
Coast Guard, fire crews and flood warnings raise themselves for high | :02:11. | :02:16.
water. It is 10:45am and this is the point where emergency services were | :02:16. | :02:20.
worried it could get tricky. You will see that the road has nothing | :02:20. | :02:27.
yet to give them too much cause for concern. I have to take advice make | :02:27. | :02:30.
sure this is the worst. There is another high tide tonight but I am | :02:30. | :02:37.
sure the wind will die down. Inland, the wind has led havoc and fallen | :02:37. | :02:43.
trees blocked minor roads. A similar picture on the A120 new Stansted | :02:43. | :02:50.
Airport. Rear services were also affected. —— real services. We had | :02:50. | :02:54.
to work fast to make this scaffolding safe after it broke away | :02:54. | :02:58.
in strong winds. As we watched the surge, we were hoping it should have | :02:58. | :03:04.
passed. Come early evening, we have got the final flood alert out how | :03:04. | :03:08.
flew along the Essex coast and as the waters pass, we will hopefully | :03:08. | :03:11.
be able to take those of. Traditionally, the weather at this | :03:11. | :03:14.
time of year, south—westerly storms moving across, this is the season | :03:14. | :03:19.
when we need to be most prepared. Back in the village and back in | :03:19. | :03:24.
time, a huge sea surge six years ago caused extensive misery and damage. | :03:24. | :03:29.
Not so today. Good warning and planning as waged any anxiety people | :03:29. | :03:35.
may have had. As the head home, they know that there may be more days | :03:35. | :03:42.
like this to come this winter. It was high water in Essex late this | :03:42. | :03:46.
afternoon. Gareth George has just sent us this report. | :03:46. | :03:52.
They were waiting nervously for high water here at 4:30pm. A flood | :03:52. | :03:57.
warning was in place. That means flooding was expected. The water | :03:57. | :03:59.
level got pretty high and still remains so but the defences were not | :03:59. | :04:04.
reached. One theory is that the wind direction helped keep the tidal | :04:04. | :04:10.
surge back down the river is cherry. It stayed Northwest. —— back down | :04:10. | :04:18.
the river estuary. And easterly cheese is the tidal surge up the | :04:18. | :04:21.
river and encourages it to rise, obviously. But with that being a | :04:21. | :04:27.
waste, Northwest, it has kept it down and wide. This is the lowest | :04:27. | :04:31.
point of the sea defences. If they were going to be breached, it have | :04:31. | :04:34.
been here. Sandbags were put in place but not needed. The village | :04:34. | :04:38.
was lucky and there is some relief tonight. | :04:38. | :04:41.
The police in Norfolk are investigating the death of a man who | :04:41. | :04:45.
was cared for at Hellesdon Hospital. It's the second mysterious death at | :04:45. | :04:48.
a hospital in Norfolk in the last month. There is no connection but in | :04:48. | :04:52.
both cases staff have been suspended. The details now from | :04:52. | :05:00.
Jenny Kirk. Jenny? Thanks. The details have only just come to light | :05:00. | :05:04.
of this latest case. A man in his 40s was being treated at the | :05:04. | :05:09.
hospital, which deals with people with mental illnesses, last Tuesday. | :05:09. | :05:12.
He had what has been described as a medical emergency. Four members of | :05:12. | :05:20.
staff have been suspended about the standard of care he received there | :05:20. | :05:22.
before being taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital where he died | :05:22. | :05:24.
on Friday. And what about this other case I | :05:24. | :05:29.
mentioned? In that case, it is a different hospital in Norfolk, one | :05:29. | :05:35.
in Gorleston. Jenny, 76, died last month. Later, a worker came forward | :05:35. | :05:40.
claiming that his death may have been the result of medical | :05:40. | :05:42.
malpractice. There was an internal inquiry. Hospital reported a member | :05:42. | :05:48.
of staff to police. He was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murder | :05:48. | :05:51.
and bailed until next month. Norfolk police say they are investigating a | :05:51. | :05:56.
police that that man was given a drugs overdose. The major | :05:56. | :05:59.
investigation unit are involved with both cases but say that they are not | :05:59. | :06:03.
linked. Jenny, thank you very much. A former soldier has made a | :06:03. | :06:07.
complaint after being told he's not allowed to stand for the national | :06:07. | :06:10.
anthem during a military concert in Suffolk. Doug Speller has tickets | :06:10. | :06:13.
for the event, at the Apex in Bury St Edmunds, next month. But he's | :06:14. | :06:17.
been told everyone has to remain seated because of Health and Safety | :06:17. | :06:26.
regulations. Dog has had a long —— this man has | :06:26. | :06:30.
had a long military career, he served two decades in the | :06:30. | :06:34.
Territorial Army as a radio operator. He was shocked when he and | :06:34. | :06:39.
his wife were told they could not stand for the National Anthem. We | :06:39. | :06:47.
were both so annoyed about it. How do deer they —— odour of these turn | :06:47. | :06:50.
around and say to me, " you can't stand for the National Anthem. " It | :06:50. | :06:54.
is an insult to the Queen. I have always been taught the correct way | :06:54. | :06:57.
that you stand up for the National Anthem. This is not the first time | :06:57. | :07:01.
that the recent Edmonds has made the headlines for Health and Safety. In | :07:01. | :07:06.
2004, hanging baskets where banned because of a risk they could fall | :07:06. | :07:10.
and injure someone. Months later, the Terran Christmas lights where | :07:10. | :07:15.
switched on 80 days early to be tested for Health and Safety | :07:15. | :07:18.
reasons. Although we were allowed to film today, to see the seeds for | :07:18. | :07:24.
ourselves, nobody was prepared to talk on camera. There was a U—turn | :07:24. | :07:30.
this afternoon. —— to see the seats. I am ever so sorry. Of course we | :07:30. | :07:34.
would not stop anybody standing for the National Anthem or showing | :07:34. | :07:37.
appreciation at the end of a particularly good performance. The | :07:37. | :07:40.
Health and Safety rules are there for a clear purpose, people's | :07:40. | :07:44.
safety. The guidelines are very clear around the building and that | :07:44. | :07:47.
is to stop people from dancing raucously during an event. I am | :07:47. | :07:52.
quite happy, much happier now! To say that I can do it, you know. I | :07:52. | :07:56.
thank them for coming to their senses about it. It is nice to know | :07:56. | :08:02.
that they have admitted that they were wrong. For him, buying tickets | :08:02. | :08:08.
for the concert has not really been a peaceful path. But he says he will | :08:08. | :08:13.
stand to attention with respect and pride when the National Anthem is | :08:13. | :08:18.
played next month. Just a few years ago, Norwich City | :08:18. | :08:21.
Football Club was in a financial mess and dropping down the | :08:21. | :08:24.
divisions. Today, it's a very different story. The Premier League | :08:24. | :08:27.
has brought big money and this week when they published the accounts, | :08:27. | :08:34.
there is money in the bank. It has been a remarkable turnaround, from a | :08:34. | :08:39.
club deep in debt to the financial top flight. All in just four years. | :08:39. | :08:44.
We are on sound financial footing. We have a very good team, in my view | :08:44. | :08:50.
will be the best for 20 years. We have achieved all our objectives for | :08:50. | :08:53.
the last fiscal year, above all finishing well on the Premier | :08:53. | :08:57.
League. And I think the future is looking very good. Delegation back | :08:57. | :09:02.
in 2001 left the Canaries on their knees, with debts of £23 million. | :09:02. | :09:06.
They had losses of £9 million per year. In 2013, it is very different. | :09:06. | :09:12.
Last year, the revenue was £278 million. Boosted by £50 million of | :09:12. | :09:19.
TV money. Norwich ended the year £500,000 profit and for the first | :09:19. | :09:24.
time in many years, debt free. That profit would have been higher but | :09:24. | :09:28.
this year, the club spent nearly £20 million on a new squad. Norwich is | :09:28. | :09:33.
now among football's financial elite but staying there depends on one | :09:33. | :09:36.
thing. As long as we're alive, we have to stay on the Premier League. | :09:36. | :09:40.
That is what I need to get across to all of my colleagues in the club, | :09:40. | :09:44.
the board know it. But everybody that works here has to be really | :09:44. | :09:48.
focused on that. Norwich all £2 million to a handful of directors, | :09:48. | :09:53.
including Delia Smith. —— Norwich need to be two main towns. They say | :09:53. | :09:57.
it will be people as here. For the Canaries, it is key to invest in | :09:57. | :10:03.
football. Winning games and staying up will pay not just football but | :10:03. | :10:11.
financial dividends also. Walkers will be able to cross the | :10:11. | :10:15.
entire length of Norfolk by foot from King's Lynn in the West to | :10:15. | :10:18.
Great Yarmouth in the East, now that a missing piece of footpath has been | :10:18. | :10:22.
opened. The new 12—mile stretch passes through Wensum Valley where a | :10:22. | :10:25.
bench has been installed, marking the mid—way point. | :10:25. | :10:27.
Tributes have been paid to one of the best known boat builders on the | :10:27. | :10:31.
Broads, who's died at the age of 79. Martin Broom is credited with | :10:31. | :10:34.
helping popularise boating holidays. He also helped establish the Broads | :10:34. | :10:37.
Authority. He ran his family business, Broom Boats in Brundall, | :10:37. | :10:46.
for more than 40 years. The annual Heritage at Risk register | :10:46. | :10:49.
has just been published, highlighting those buildings which | :10:49. | :10:52.
are most in danger of neglect or collapse. The good news is that | :10:52. | :10:55.
Finchingfield Guildhall in Essex has come off the list, after a lot of | :10:55. | :10:59.
renovation. The bad news — the Langham Dome, which was used to | :10:59. | :11:02.
train gunners during World War Two, is now in the ten most at risk in | :11:02. | :11:05.
this region. Until recently, this is what Langham | :11:05. | :11:09.
Dome used to look like. It was used during the war to train gunners, | :11:09. | :11:12.
with film of the enemy projected onto the walls for simulated target | :11:12. | :11:15.
practice. There are only six training domes left in the country. | :11:15. | :11:18.
This one is still on English Heritage's At Risk register but | :11:18. | :11:22.
funding has now been found for the delicate task of repairing it. The | :11:22. | :11:26.
dome has been suffering from severe decay at the concrete and | :11:26. | :11:28.
particularly the metal that is inside it and has required an | :11:28. | :11:31.
absolutely innovative technique to run a current through it to drive | :11:31. | :11:35.
the moisture out and then to be re—faced. So it is actually quite a | :11:35. | :11:41.
technically difficult job and has taken years to build up the right | :11:41. | :11:46.
expertise. More importantly, to get the money in place. English Heritage | :11:46. | :11:51.
has given £200,000 towards the work. The Heritage Lottery Fund is | :11:51. | :11:58.
stumping up £426,000. Future generations can come in here and | :11:58. | :12:02.
will be able to learn what went on in 1945 in Langham. Langham went | :12:02. | :12:09.
from a village of 200 people to 2000 people living here during the war. | :12:09. | :12:16.
So it was quite an upheaval for the village. And I think it's important | :12:16. | :12:19.
to remember this. Meanwhile in Essex, this Guildhall, built in | :12:19. | :12:23.
1460, has now been taken off at Risk register following restoration. Very | :12:23. | :12:30.
important that English Heritage put the building on at Risk register in | :12:30. | :12:34.
2008 and also very important that they give money, at that stage about | :12:34. | :12:37.
£15,000, to show that this was something that they were in favour | :12:37. | :12:48.
of, that they believed in. And that was a signal to other funders that | :12:48. | :12:51.
they should get behind this project and that is exactly what happened. | :12:51. | :12:54.
The Guildhall includes a library and a museum. Once renovations are | :12:54. | :12:57.
completed, the Langham Dome will open to the public as an education | :12:57. | :12:59.
centre. Also coming up: | :12:59. | :13:19.
Sir Henry Cecil's widow bids to win the big race at Newmarket this | :13:19. | :13:21.
weekend. Olympic champion Greg Rutherford on | :13:22. | :13:27.
injury, inspiration and his ambition to make long jumping history. | :13:27. | :13:36.
This region is the driest in the whole country, which is why farmers | :13:36. | :13:39.
have been meeting today to talk about water. With pressure coming | :13:39. | :13:42.
from industry and climate change, there's a real worry that | :13:42. | :13:44.
agriculture could get squeezed out. Our region is home to 60% of the | :13:44. | :13:48.
country's irrigated farmland. More than 1,000 businesses make their | :13:48. | :13:51.
living from the land. 30% of the potatoes and 25% of the fruit and | :13:51. | :13:54.
vegetables supplied to the supermarkets are grown here in the | :13:54. | :13:59.
East. And water is critical to that whole industry. | :13:59. | :14:05.
It's a lovely green colour, it's a perfect height. And so hopefully it | :14:05. | :14:11.
will find favour with customers. A Mediterranean—style crop in the | :14:11. | :14:16.
Norfolk countryside. But to grow, it relies on these to irrigate it. The | :14:16. | :14:20.
water here is pumped from deep underground. But for other farmers, | :14:20. | :14:26.
they have chosen to dig their own reservoirs to store what falls from | :14:26. | :14:30.
the sky. We've used it quite a bit this year. We've sold quite a bit of | :14:30. | :14:34.
water to neighbouring farmers and use around six or seven million | :14:34. | :14:37.
gallons. It's a huge benefit. It gives us peace of mind knowing that | :14:37. | :14:41.
we can grow whatever we want on the farm and we've got water if we need | :14:41. | :14:45.
it. At 180 million gallons, this is small. But getting permission to | :14:45. | :14:50.
build any reservoir can take years. What we'd really like to see is a | :14:50. | :14:53.
situation where almost every farm has a reservoir, an on—farm | :14:53. | :14:57.
reservoir, to capture water. A high proportion of irrigated crops come | :14:57. | :15:02.
from this region. We feed into the supermarkets here significant | :15:02. | :15:04.
amounts and therefore, it's important for all of us that we have | :15:04. | :15:08.
the water to be able to continue to do this and that we are not forced | :15:08. | :15:13.
to import food. Globally, weather can seem more extreme. While it's | :15:13. | :15:17.
difficult to predict it, local patterns are emerging. The summers | :15:17. | :15:22.
in general will become drier and harder to manage but you will get | :15:22. | :15:25.
your rainfall in short, sharp bursts. The winters will have to | :15:25. | :15:29.
offset that lack of rainfall in the summer by becoming a bit wetter. I | :15:29. | :15:34.
think it is all going to hinge on how we manage the water when it | :15:34. | :15:38.
falls. Here, 75 tonnes of onions are on their way to the supermarket, | :15:38. | :15:41.
having enough water insured the best crop. During that hot, dry spell in | :15:41. | :15:47.
July when the onions were trying to grow really well, they needed | :15:47. | :15:50.
adequate irrigation and water to help them do that. To achieve this | :15:50. | :15:59.
size! Any shortage of water has potential to cause a shortage of the | :15:59. | :16:03.
crop that you're trying to irrigate and shortages normally mean higher | :16:03. | :16:09.
prices. With rainfall becoming more unpredictable, farmers will need to | :16:09. | :16:12.
come up with new ways to guarantee crops like these. | :16:12. | :16:24.
Lovely stack of onions. Enough to make a grown man cry! | :16:24. | :16:33.
Sir Henry Cecil's widow has been talking about her bid to win the big | :16:33. | :16:37.
race at Newmarket this weekend — the Cesarewitch. | :16:37. | :16:40.
After the death of Sir Henry in June, Lady Cecil decided to continue | :16:40. | :16:43.
training at the famous Warren Place stables. And on Saturday, her hopes | :16:43. | :16:46.
are resting on a horse called Tiger Cliff. | :16:46. | :16:48.
If you think it training racehorses is a glamorous business then you | :16:48. | :16:52.
should have been an Newmarket Heath at 7am this morning. It was cold and | :16:52. | :16:56.
wet and Jane Cecil was well wrapped up. Her big hope for Saturday at | :16:56. | :17:00.
BetFred Cesarewitch is Tiger Cliff. Ridden by Tom Queally, he won a race | :17:00. | :17:04.
in August and starts as a favourite this weekend. What would it mean to | :17:04. | :17:12.
win at Newmarket? Well, what can I say... Henry has won it once. So it | :17:12. | :17:22.
will be great if... I can imagine we will settle for winning it once, | :17:22. | :17:25.
too. Henry actually won the Cesarewitch ay back in 1971, an | :17:25. | :17:28.
early success in a glittering career, shared latterly with his | :17:28. | :17:35.
third wife, Jane. Now, she has taken over the license and although she is | :17:35. | :17:38.
very shy, racing fans want to hear what she has to say. How are you | :17:38. | :17:46.
enjoying your new role? Oh, it's lovely, isn't it?! Well, I hate... | :17:46. | :17:57.
This is the bit I really don't like. It's hard work but when you've got | :17:57. | :18:00.
good people around you, you know, it's enjoyable. Sir Mark Prescott | :18:00. | :18:09.
knows just how hard the racing game can be. He saddles Pallasator in the | :18:09. | :18:12.
Cesarewitch, a race he has never won in more than 40 years of trying. He | :18:12. | :18:19.
has this advice for Jane Cecil. She needs lots of luck. She's got a | :18:19. | :18:24.
tremendous team of staff there, her husband's legacy is there. Racing is | :18:25. | :18:30.
unforgiving, of course. Results are needed but she's made a fantastic | :18:30. | :18:34.
start. Jane Cecil has already had some important wins and there is no | :18:34. | :18:38.
doubt Henry would be incredibly proud. Victory on Saturday, at the | :18:38. | :18:42.
home of flat racing, would be another very significant moment. | :18:42. | :18:53.
Olympic Champion Greg Rutherford has been passing on his skills to school | :18:53. | :19:01.
children in Milton Keynes, today. He even tried his hand at basketball. | :19:01. | :19:07.
Greg Rutherford has struggled with injuries and form since winning gold | :19:07. | :19:11.
at the London Olympics. In a moment, we'll hear from him but first, this | :19:11. | :19:14.
report from James Burridge. If your dream is to be an Olympic | :19:14. | :19:19.
champion then it helps to learn from one. Greg Rutherford's gold medal | :19:19. | :19:23.
moment is the tale he is happy telling. His achievement has | :19:23. | :19:26.
inspired hundreds at his local club, as well as these children from a | :19:26. | :19:31.
local primary school. He has inspired me and taught me that | :19:31. | :19:34.
anyone can do anything they like, if they tried. He just stands me rough | :19:34. | :19:43.
and helps us. He was off. Well, he was OK but I think he should stick | :19:43. | :19:49.
to long jump! 2013 has been a rude contrast to the glory of 2012. He | :19:49. | :19:54.
lost his sponsor, split with his coach, suffered a serious injury, | :19:55. | :19:58.
endured a public spat over his selection, before crashing out in | :19:58. | :20:02.
the heats. I think five weeks on, you should not be running, let alone | :20:03. | :20:07.
jumping. I know how to compete at big competitions. When I am fit and | :20:07. | :20:11.
well I stand a good chance and sadly I think I felt better than I was. I | :20:11. | :20:15.
was not good enough and those are the hard facts. Unlike others in the | :20:15. | :20:21.
athletics world, Greg's golden moment has not provided the | :20:21. | :20:25.
financial legacy he was hoping for. His training has taken a back—seat | :20:25. | :20:28.
so that he can earn money through various media commitments. He has | :20:28. | :20:32.
not lost his love of the long jump yet. The Commonwealth Games are less | :20:32. | :20:35.
than one year away. Well, I spoke to Greg while he was | :20:35. | :20:39.
at that event in Milton Keynes, this afternoon, and he told me how | :20:39. | :20:42.
important he thought it was to inspire young people to take up | :20:42. | :20:47.
sport. I think we have been having a bit of | :20:47. | :20:52.
issue with this country are kids are not as active and engaged in sport. | :20:52. | :20:55.
Just activity in general. I grew up about one mile from here. I go past | :20:55. | :21:00.
the same places where I grew up and I was out there every single day | :21:00. | :21:04.
playing around, climbing trees and now it is barren. There is nobody | :21:04. | :21:08.
out there engaging in it and something like this is really | :21:08. | :21:11.
helping, I feel, to get these kids engaged with them, outside and | :21:11. | :21:15.
enjoying it. After winning gold, you have been doing lots of things like | :21:15. | :21:19.
this. On a personal, sporting level, it has been quite an up and down | :21:19. | :21:24.
your four years. It has not gone anywhere near to plan, as last did. | :21:24. | :21:29.
It was the greatest year of my sporting career and life to date. | :21:29. | :21:34.
This year, due to a massive injury, things just have not gone well for | :21:34. | :21:38.
me. That has been a real problem. I think most of the year I was | :21:39. | :21:42.
searching for the right training and environment in order to succeed | :21:42. | :21:45.
again and I did not find it. Then again, in Paris, picking up the | :21:45. | :21:50.
hamstring rupture completely ruined this year for me. I was desperately | :21:50. | :21:54.
trying to get right for the World Championships. I gave it everything | :21:54. | :21:58.
to go there and had fantastic support to make sure I could make it | :21:58. | :22:02.
there but sadly, it just was not enough time. With Tyneside, would | :22:02. | :22:07.
you have done things differently? Maybe not gone to the World | :22:07. | :22:11.
Championships. —— with Tyneside. Speaker McNaught regrets. | :22:11. | :22:14.
Ultimately, I was never going to find out unless I put myself in | :22:14. | :22:21.
there. —— with hindsight. No regrets. I was able to jump | :22:21. | :22:26.
beforehand, in training. To be perfectly honest. As much as I did | :22:26. | :22:32.
not perform well, I think now I look back and I probably performed better | :22:32. | :22:35.
than most other people would have done in the same circumstance. That | :22:35. | :22:40.
is not good enough. I went in to win but ultimately, my body was in the | :22:40. | :22:43.
position to not let me do that. Now, it is the focus on getting my body | :22:43. | :22:47.
right again and getting everything focused incorrectly in the right | :22:47. | :22:51.
scenario so that I can excel again and do well. It is an odd thing to | :22:51. | :22:57.
ask but in a way, was the gold—medal a hindrance? It is such a pinnacle | :22:57. | :23:00.
in your career, where'd you go there? Obviously, we go out there | :23:00. | :23:06.
all the time to try and win competitions. The way I view the | :23:06. | :23:10.
Olympics was another competition and possibly a chance for me to finally | :23:10. | :23:14.
win something that really means a lot to everybody in the sport. Now, | :23:14. | :23:18.
what that gave me was the passion and drive to go on and try and win | :23:18. | :23:23.
major medals. I will be 29 when the next one comes along but before that | :23:23. | :23:26.
we have World Championships, Commonwealth, other major | :23:26. | :23:29.
competitions I want to win. I focused when from not just —— my | :23:29. | :23:35.
focus went from not just winning one that multiple. I am getting up in | :23:35. | :23:38.
the morning to train hard and putting all the work to do that | :23:38. | :23:41.
again. The way things are going, that will happen and I can be more | :23:41. | :23:44.
successful and solidify myself as one of the best long jumpers in | :23:44. | :23:50.
history. How are you right now? I am feeling good. The hamstring is | :23:50. | :23:55.
definitely in the latter stages of healing. All being well and good, | :23:55. | :23:59.
within a month or six weeks, that will be completely gone. I will be | :23:59. | :24:03.
back to my normal self and will be getting myself ready for the indoors | :24:03. | :24:06.
before the Commonwealth Games. That will be a good test for me. | :24:06. | :24:11.
Ultimately, I won a medal at the last Commonwealth. I will be looking | :24:11. | :24:13.
to win the title next. It is great to talk to, as always. | :24:13. | :24:18.
Thanks for coming on the programme. Three thank for having me. | :24:18. | :24:22.
He is a very likeable young man and the kids love him also. | :24:22. | :24:26.
A real inspiration. We are elated to a listener to the | :24:26. | :24:32.
radio. They are sending in ties for you! Via. I quite like it. | :24:32. | :24:40.
Very nice. It has been very wet and windy | :24:40. | :24:43.
across the region. We have a couple of photos to show you. Some pretty | :24:43. | :24:51.
strong winds across the region also. Not just the winds, running through | :24:51. | :24:58.
eastern areas but they have tracked further westwards throughout the | :24:58. | :25:00.
afternoon. The winds are still fairly strong. Rainfall total, we | :25:00. | :25:05.
have had quite a bit already across some parts of Norfolk. Some places | :25:05. | :25:09.
north of Norwich have had close to 20 monitors. The further south and | :25:09. | :25:17.
west, not Azma rain. Of course, not just the rain. —— not as much rain. | :25:17. | :25:24.
45 mph gusts in some places and 50 miles in some places. The winds will | :25:24. | :25:29.
continue in some places and further spells of rain will spread and as | :25:29. | :25:34.
those winds turn north—easterly. Maybe the odd rumble of thunder were | :25:34. | :25:37.
the rain is thick. Not quite as cold as last night thanks to that cloud. | :25:37. | :25:43.
Still feeling colder in that wind. This rain is coming courtesy of this | :25:43. | :25:47.
weather front, sitting quite close to us over the North Sea for much of | :25:47. | :25:51.
tomorrow. I think quite a lot of cloud around tomorrow. Little did a | :25:51. | :25:53.
room in the morning but as we had to, mid—morning onwards, that will | :25:53. | :25:59.
turn heavier and more persistent across parts of Essex and Suffolk | :25:59. | :26:03.
particularly. The winds tomorrow will still be quite strong and | :26:03. | :26:06.
coming in from the north—east and still close to 40 mph around the | :26:06. | :26:11.
coast. Temperatures at best will be 15 degrees. This, feeling colder in | :26:11. | :26:15.
the wind. That rain will continue on and off throughout the evening. Most | :26:15. | :26:20.
other places will end the day dry. That we never clears but continues | :26:20. | :26:25.
to most of Saturday, Asian backing against the region. Some heavy | :26:25. | :26:28.
bursts on Saturday afternoon and evening. Finally clearing the | :26:28. | :26:35.
north—west. —— actually backing back in against the region. There is the | :26:35. | :26:40.
potential for some further rain into the early part of next week. Some | :26:40. | :26:43.
further rain on Saturday, some heavy. Hopefully a bit brighter on | :26:43. | :26:48.
Sunday. The picture is improving and the winds are easing so if you get | :26:48. | :26:51.
some sunshine on Sunday, it will start to feel a little warmer. It | :26:51. | :26:55.
does turn breezy with more showers into Monday. Also, through the | :26:55. | :27:00.
weekend, some quite chilly nights, particularly late in the weekend. | :27:00. | :27:02.
Perhaps a touch of frost for some of us also. | :27:02. | :27:06.
Thank you very much. That is, . Had a good evening. | :27:06. | :27:08.
Good night. | :27:08. | :27:13. |
