The emergency services are urging the region's drivers not to take

risks on flooded roads. Essex Fire Service says in just 24

hours it had to rescue eight people from vehicles driven into water.

Although the rain has eased, there are still three flood warnings in

place. One in Essex between Halstead and Colchester and two on the River

Nene near Peterborough. This stretch of road is flooded.

There is also flooding in Essex. The wire service says it rescued eight

people from vehicles this weekend. Is it worth losing your life? I

suspect the answer is no. Do not drive through it. It is hoped the

flood water will soon received but drivers are being told not to put

themselves at risk. A multi`million pound programme of

flood protection measures is about to get underway in Great Yarmouth.

Around 9,000 people there had to leave their homes due to the recent

tidal surge. The most serious tidal surge for

decades. As cliffs crumbled homes fell into

the sea. One reason why the floods minister organised a drop in event

to reassure people that action is being taken. On the show and new

title defence scheme land for the town. Build our defences on the top.

It is critical for the future of great Yarmouth. 20 local properties

were flooded in the storms in December.

The rivers were always changed. They have been allied to be filled in

with silt and rash. There is not much room for the water to go. ``

communities to bid for other funds. Ultimately the local council is

responsible for the coastline. Within three years thousands more in

great Yarmouth will feel secure. But for many others they will still.

The Local Government Secretary says he believes councils in the region

will be able to cope with further budget cuts. Eric Pickles was

responding to research by the Sunday Politics programme which found that

councils in our region are planning to make a total of ?1 billion of

extra savings between now and 2018. Essex and Northamptonshire are

warning that they may have to put up council tax. But Mr Pickles says

that shouldn't be necessary. Football, and the weather played

Good evening. Most of us have had a fine Sunday with some sunshine, but

there is more wet and windy weather on the way. Focused tomorrow across

of coastal flooding. Though strong winds bringing the rain back to

Northern Ireland. Elsewhere, apart from a few showers, a dry night and

mainly frost free. A wet start across Northern Ireland, the rain

pepping up across Pembrokeshire Devon and Cornwall through the day.

Many central and eastern areas will stay dry with a bit more cloud

around and we have seen cloud will certainly thicken across

western Scotland, with outbreaks of rain ageing in across here. Not much
