Hello and welcome to Friday's Look North. Tonight: | :00:01. | :00:05.
Could a daily dose of aspirin protect you from cancer? The | :00:05. | :00:08.
findings of a landmark study by scientists here in the north coming | :00:08. | :00:12.
Also tonight - the Deputy Prime Minister visits companies awarded | :00:12. | :00:17.
government cash to help them grow. Labour brand the scheme a fiasco. | :00:18. | :00:21.
Police dig up fields in the search for a woman who disappeared five | :00:21. | :00:25.
years ago. We're live on Tyneside for the | :00:25. | :00:31.
launch of this year's Poppy Appeal. And we meet Chatty Man as he | :00:31. | :00:38.
returns to his northern roots for a new tour. | :00:38. | :00:42.
In sport - he used to be a hero, now he's a villain. Darren Bent | :00:42. | :00:44.
says he won't celebrate if he scores against Sunderland for his | :00:44. | :00:48.
new club, Aston Villa tomorrow. Find out what a real red and white | :00:48. | :00:58.
:00:58. | :01:04. | ||
hero thinks about the striker's Just two aspirin a day could | :01:04. | :01:07.
protect you from a range of hereditary cancers. That's the | :01:07. | :01:11.
conclusion of a landmark study by scientists at Newcastle University. | :01:11. | :01:14.
They believe the humble aspirin could actually cut the long term | :01:14. | :01:17.
risk of contracting bowel cancer by an astonishing 60% for people with | :01:17. | :01:19.
a family history of the disease. Our health reporter Sharon Barbour | :01:19. | :01:27.
has more. Audrey Francis from Blyth in | :01:27. | :01:32.
Northumberland has fond memories of her wedding day. This was before | :01:32. | :01:35.
she learned her mother had bowel cancer, before her sister died of | :01:35. | :01:38.
brain cancer and before all three were told they had a genetic | :01:38. | :01:40.
disorder, Lynch Syndrome, putting them at high risk of developing | :01:40. | :01:48.
cancer. 17 years ago Audrey was told she had not one, but two | :01:48. | :01:58.
:01:58. | :01:59. | ||
cancers. They would not exactly say how long they thought I would have. | :01:59. | :02:05.
They said it might be three months, six months, they didn't know. They | :02:06. | :02:10.
had not really come across this idea of having to cancers at the | :02:10. | :02:15.
same time and they are not related. Having been successfully treated | :02:15. | :02:19.
for both cancers, Audry was one of the first to sign up to an | :02:20. | :02:24.
international study led by Newcastle University to find out if | :02:24. | :02:30.
aspirin could fight bowel cancer. We set out to find 1,000 people who | :02:30. | :02:36.
had a genetic predisposition to have bowel cancer. Some of them | :02:36. | :02:41.
have received two aspirins, others receive none. After the immediate | :02:41. | :02:45.
treatment there was no effect, but after five years the people given | :02:45. | :02:52.
aspirin had half as many cancers at the people who did not receive it. | :02:52. | :02:57.
Simply taking aspirin therefore could prevent thousands of | :02:57. | :03:01.
hereditary cancer deaths. This little pill cut the risk of bowel | :03:01. | :03:07.
cancer in those with a family history by 60 %. The research has | :03:07. | :03:14.
said that aspirin could prevent up to 10,000 cancers over the next 30 | :03:14. | :03:19.
years, potentially saving thousands of lives. Audrey believes hers is | :03:19. | :03:27.
one of those lives saved. I have been very lucky. Here I am 17 years | :03:27. | :03:35.
later. I never thought I would see these days. Anyone planning to take | :03:35. | :03:41.
aspirin over a long period should consult their doctor. | :03:41. | :03:44.
Well, earlier I spoke to Dr Kat Arney from Cancer Research UK and I | :03:44. | :03:50.
began by asking her how exciting a breakthrough this is. This is | :03:50. | :03:54.
really fantastic to see the results of this study because it shows that | :03:54. | :03:59.
a drug that is as cheap and humble as aspirin could make a difference | :03:59. | :04:05.
to a lot of people. Its people with a particular genetic condition that | :04:05. | :04:11.
predisposes them to getting cancer, but it could potentially save | :04:11. | :04:16.
thousands of lives. So can see UK could give it their full support? | :04:16. | :04:24.
We help to fund this trial. -- can see UK. We look forward to the | :04:24. | :04:31.
results of further results and we do hope it will come into clinical | :04:31. | :04:36.
practice soon and benefit patients. It makes me wonder how many | :04:36. | :04:42.
existing drugs, humble drugs could be used in a similar way. There are | :04:42. | :04:47.
a lot out there and many trucks we have had for a long time are being | :04:47. | :04:51.
looked at by cancer researchers to see if they can benefit cancer | :04:52. | :04:56.
patients. There is a drug called thalidomide, which has a bad | :04:56. | :05:00.
reputation, but there are trials to see if it can benefit people with | :05:00. | :05:05.
cancers. There are many drugs that we need to find out whether they | :05:05. | :05:09.
can work and benefit people. Well our health reporter Sharon | :05:09. | :05:12.
Barbour joins me now. So Sharon, should we all now be taking | :05:12. | :05:19.
aspirin? It is an exciting study and it does have built on other | :05:19. | :05:29.
:05:29. | :05:35. | ||
studies that shows aspirin can be effective against preventing cancer. | :05:35. | :05:41.
However there is a question mark over whether aspirin would benefit | :05:41. | :05:46.
all of us. There is a downside as it can be associated with a higher | :05:46. | :05:52.
risk of ulcers and strokes. But for those who do have a high risk of | :05:52. | :05:58.
cancer, it may be worth taking that risk. The key thing is if you want | :05:58. | :06:03.
to take aspirin over a long period of time, told to your doctor. | :06:03. | :06:06.
you. The inquest into the death of a | :06:06. | :06:09.
pensioner in the Grayrigg train crash has been hearing about | :06:09. | :06:12.
maintenance work carried out on the points which failed, causing the | :06:12. | :06:14.
derailment. A railway technician claims that work record forms were | :06:14. | :06:17.
poor and that sometimes unrecorded work might have been carried out. | :06:17. | :06:20.
84-year-old Margaret Masson was killed in the crash, 22 others were | :06:20. | :06:23.
injured. The Deputy Prime Minister Nick | :06:23. | :06:27.
Clegg has been in the North today. He visited companies who have been | :06:27. | :06:29.
awarded grants from the regional growth fund. 14 projects will get | :06:29. | :06:34.
cash. But Labour has described the fund as a fiasco, claiming | :06:34. | :06:36.
companies haven't been given the money, even though the grants were | :06:36. | :06:43.
announced six months ago. This is the sort of company the | :06:43. | :06:47.
Government says it likes to help. An engineering business in North | :06:47. | :06:50.
Shields that's gone from employing five people to 44 in just eight | :06:50. | :06:58.
years. All the investment, 1.8m worth, has been self funded. Until | :06:58. | :07:01.
now. It's been given 75,000 from the regional growth fund, a pot | :07:01. | :07:04.
that's meant to help alleviate cuts in the public sector by creating | :07:04. | :07:14.
:07:14. | :07:14. | ||
them in private businesses. planned is to invest the money in | :07:14. | :07:18.
at more machine that talks. We just took delivery of one of the last | :07:19. | :07:23.
couple of weeks. We have another one on the way. That investment | :07:23. | :07:31.
alone is about 250,000. It should create up to eight new jobs. | :07:31. | :07:34.
Little wonder then that the deputy prime minister wanted to visit. And | :07:34. | :07:37.
to see where the government's cash will be spent. Although one | :07:37. | :07:39.
criticism of the scheme is that although the first 45 winners | :07:39. | :07:42.
across the country were announced six months ago, only two have | :07:42. | :07:48.
actually received their cheques. About 50 % of all the companies who | :07:48. | :07:56.
were awarded the money had already started their projects. They know | :07:56. | :08:03.
they have got the assurance regarding the money. I think some | :08:03. | :08:07.
of the criticisms from Labour are wide of the mark. | :08:07. | :08:11.
But the company here isn't worried that the money won't turn up, so | :08:11. | :08:18.
it's employed three apprentices. Ryan is one of them. It is great, a | :08:18. | :08:27.
lot better than I hoped for. The next round of winners of | :08:27. | :08:30.
regional growth fund cash will be announced soon. The Government will | :08:30. | :08:33.
be hoping it's put to use employing a lot more people like Ryan. | :08:33. | :08:36.
Sunderland footballer Titus Bramble has been charged with two counts of | :08:36. | :08:40.
sexual assault and urinating in a public place. The 30-year-old was | :08:40. | :08:45.
arrested in September on suspicion of sexual assault. He was then re- | :08:45. | :08:48.
arrested on suspicion of the same charge last month after a second | :08:48. | :08:52.
allegation was made. Mr Bramble's due before Teesside Magistrates in | :08:52. | :08:57.
November. Police in Northumberland have begun | :08:57. | :09:00.
digging on two sites in connection with the disappearance of a woman | :09:00. | :09:05.
from the Hexham area five years ago. 51-year-old Janet Brown hasn't been | :09:05. | :09:08.
seen since November 2006. The police say their investigation also | :09:08. | :09:18.
involves financial irregularities. Since Janet Brown disappeared, no | :09:18. | :09:22.
trace has been found of the part- time actress, who lived in a | :09:22. | :09:32.
:09:32. | :09:33. | ||
bungalow at cottage at Plane Tree Farm near Lowgate. Last month there | :09:33. | :09:37.
was an extensive search of the property and on another site. The | :09:37. | :09:44.
man who currently lives at the farm says the police has made - that | :09:44. | :09:48.
have made many visits over the last few years. They have got everything | :09:48. | :09:58.
:09:58. | :10:02. | ||
up, looking at the floor. How many of them were here? Close to 50. | :10:02. | :10:05.
There were eight or nine police vans. Did they bring specialist | :10:05. | :10:11.
equipment? They did. There was also a sniffer dog. The excavations that | :10:12. | :10:16.
took place here recently were the latest in a series of visits to the | :10:16. | :10:21.
property by the police. We did request an interview with the | :10:21. | :10:24.
police but they declined on the grounds that there was too much | :10:24. | :10:29.
speculation going on surrounding this case. | :10:29. | :10:32.
A congregation of nearly 2,000 packed York Minster to watch the | :10:32. | :10:35.
consecration of Justin Welby as Bishop of Durham and John Freeman | :10:35. | :10:38.
as Bishop of Penrith today. The two come from very different | :10:38. | :10:43.
backgrounds. The former having worked 11 years in the oil industry | :10:43. | :10:46.
and the latter having been a student of psychology, who now | :10:46. | :10:56.
:10:56. | :10:58. | ||
enjoys Motown and rock guitar. Quite overwhelming. An | :10:58. | :11:01.
extraordinary ceremony and beautifully sung. A great day. It | :11:01. | :11:09.
has been exciting to have all these people gathered hair. A little | :11:09. | :11:19.
:11:19. | :11:20. | ||
daunting. Still still to come -- still to come, the weather and the | :11:21. | :11:27.
sport as well as Alan Carr, Chatty Man of the North. | :11:27. | :11:30.
Now, if you're a budding film-maker, here's a new BBC project you might | :11:30. | :11:33.
be interested in. We're asking viewers to take part in the Britain | :11:33. | :11:36.
In A Day project, which aims to capture a snap-shot of modern | :11:36. | :11:39.
Britain on the 12th November. We want you to film whatever you're | :11:39. | :11:43.
doing on that day. To give you an idea of what the project's all | :11:43. | :11:46.
about, we've been to see a typical day at one of Northumberland's best | :11:46. | :11:55.
known businesses - Craster Kippers. Once you are prepared and you have | :11:55. | :12:00.
decided what part of the day you want to film, the easiest thing to | :12:00. | :12:10.
:12:10. | :12:12. | ||
do is try in a friend, upload your video... My name is Duncan, I am 41, | :12:12. | :12:18.
I work at Craster Kippers and this is a day in my life. I start at 7 | :12:18. | :12:22.
o'clock. That first job is to go into the smoke house and take out | :12:22. | :12:30.
the kippers that are ready. After that it is on to the splitting | :12:30. | :12:34.
machine. From the basket they go onto the table where they are | :12:35. | :12:39.
cleaned. You pull out the guts and any bits of blood. That is a | :12:39. | :12:46.
horrible job. That is about one! From that table, Prix basket at the | :12:46. | :12:52.
time go into the brine. They are taken out and put on the hooks. | :12:52. | :13:00.
After that they go back in the smokehouse, ready for next time. | :13:00. | :13:10.
:13:10. | :13:10. | ||
After that, brush the rubbish of the floor. You put down wood | :13:10. | :13:20.
:13:20. | :13:21. | ||
shavings and oak and like them. They left a for Abu Abbas. The | :13:21. | :13:27.
smoke drives them out. -- they are left for a few hours. After work | :13:27. | :13:33.
you have to have a good shower and a scrub. Sometimes you sweat | :13:33. | :13:43.
:13:43. | :13:47. | ||
kippers! Why not film a day in your life? Go to the website for more | :13:48. | :13:57.
:13:58. | :14:01. | ||
information. Now, you have probably noticed it is the time of year for | :14:01. | :14:09.
sharing our respect for our armed forces. This year is the 19th | :14:09. | :14:19.
:14:19. | :14:20. | ||
anniversary of the poppy appeal. -- 90th anniversary. Let go live to | :14:20. | :14:24.
the Millennium Bridge. It looks absolutely gorgeous. If | :14:24. | :14:27.
you can see, there is a procession coming across the bridge at the | :14:28. | :14:33.
moment. They are servicemen and women, past and present, and | :14:33. | :14:38.
members of the Royal British Legion. A question for you - how many | :14:38. | :14:43.
people can potentially be helped by the Royal British Legion today? | :14:43. | :14:47.
I am guessing Thousands. I have no idea. | :14:47. | :14:52.
Believe it or not, 10 million. To explain that we have a | :14:52. | :14:58.
representative from be Royal British Legion. Explain that to us. | :14:58. | :15:02.
We are proud that we stand this shoulder to soldier with all who | :15:02. | :15:06.
serve, or all who have served and their families and dependants. | :15:06. | :15:11.
is not less relevant today, it is probably more relevant, isn't it? | :15:11. | :15:19.
Yes. It is in the media every day, the current conflict. So far be it | :15:19. | :15:24.
while British Legion has helped 16,000 veterans of Iraq and | :15:24. | :15:28.
Afghanistan. It highlights how important the poppy appeal is. | :15:28. | :15:36.
a lot of people in our region had been held. Give us an example. | :15:36. | :15:43.
have a variety of cases. We have things like campaigns that help | :15:43. | :15:48.
recent service leavers to set up their own businesses, or helping a | :15:48. | :15:53.
soldier with disabilities to become independent in his own home. We do | :15:53. | :15:58.
very well in this region supplying the armed forces with personnel. | :15:58. | :16:02.
What are we like when it comes to handing over the money? Fantastic. | :16:02. | :16:09.
Last year we have raised nearly 1 million. It would be great if we | :16:09. | :16:13.
could pass that this year. Let us finish with another look at that | :16:13. | :16:18.
gorgeous bridge which is wonderful. One last question - who wrote the | :16:18. | :16:24.
poem who inspired be poppy appeal? It was John McRae in 1915. My old | :16:24. | :16:34.
:16:34. | :16:35. | ||
teachers will be very proud of me! Now, it is time for spot. It will | :16:35. | :16:43.
be quite lively tomorrow, when to it. -- won't it? | :16:43. | :16:47.
He used to be a hero at the Stadium of Light and on the eve of the the | :16:47. | :16:50.
panto season Darren Bent will be back on Wearside to play the | :16:50. | :16:53.
villain tomorrow. Back with Aston Villa, of course, the club who | :16:53. | :16:56.
snatched him away from Sunderland for 18 million in the January | :16:56. | :16:58.
sales. The Black Cats have never been the same since. | :16:58. | :17:02.
He scored on his debut. He scored in his first game at the Stadium of | :17:02. | :17:05.
Light and he kept on scoring until he suddenly disappeared off to the | :17:05. | :17:08.
Midlands. Just don't expect Darren Bent to get as close to the | :17:08. | :17:15.
Sunderland fans as this tomorrow afternoon. The disappointment was | :17:15. | :17:20.
the timing and hit it was. He was a bigger player here. If he had stuck | :17:20. | :17:28.
around, he would have been one of the Sunderland greats. A bit like | :17:28. | :17:31.
this man. Not just for the double save which helped Sunderland win | :17:31. | :17:35.
the FA Cup in 1973. As much for the 600 games he played for his | :17:35. | :17:45.
:17:45. | :17:47. | ||
hometown club. They do not realise it these days. They move on. They | :17:47. | :17:51.
see what is supposedly at better club. If he can find be a better | :17:52. | :17:59.
club than Sunder land, you are a better man than me. -- Sunderland. | :17:59. | :18:02.
Sadly, Sunderland haven't been a better team without him. Since | :18:02. | :18:04.
Bent's shock departure, they've found goals and points hard to come | :18:04. | :18:08.
by. But if he does do this tomorrow, well he won't be doing this. No | :18:08. | :18:18.
:18:18. | :18:21. | ||
celebrations, certainly no slapping the badge. I am happy being an | :18:21. | :18:31.
:18:31. | :18:31. | ||
Aston Villa player. I enjoyed my time at Sunderland. It will be | :18:31. | :18:41.
:18:41. | :18:43. | ||
great it go back. And Sunderland today sent defender | :18:43. | :18:46.
Nyron Nosworthy off to Watford on loan until the New Year. Now the | :18:46. | :18:48.
Premier League's surprise package are fourth-placed Newcastle, who | :18:48. | :18:51.
don't play at Stoke until Monday night. Manager Alan Pardew must | :18:51. | :18:54.
decide whether to bring back defender Steven Taylor, who'd wear | :18:54. | :18:57.
a mask to protect his broken nose, and midfielder Cheik Tiote, who | :18:57. | :18:59.
watched today's open training session from the sidelines. | :18:59. | :19:02.
Thousands of Magpies fans descended on St James's Park this morning to | :19:02. | :19:04.
get close up and personal with the players, collecting autographs | :19:04. | :19:07.
before watching the squad put through their paces. One fan was | :19:07. | :19:10.
even allowed to train with them. It was a half-term gesture than went | :19:10. | :19:16.
down pretty well. It is a fantastic idea for the children to come and | :19:16. | :19:21.
see and make the players, spend time here getting autographs and | :19:21. | :19:25.
getting closer to the players as they are not able to do that on the | :19:25. | :19:33.
match day. We have got some fantastic players. The team is | :19:33. | :19:40.
built on ability and there is a lot of continuity. Wednesday night at | :19:40. | :19:48.
Blackburn was great. Alan Pardew is doing an excellent job. Let us hope | :19:48. | :19:56.
he continues. There's a big game for | :19:56. | :19:59.
Middlesbrough tomorrow - third in the Championship, they take on the | :19:59. | :20:02.

so far this season. Boro boss Tony Mowbray celebrated a year in charge | :20:05. | :20:08.
this week. In that time, he's turned the club around after the | :20:08. | :20:11.
dark days of Gordon Strachan. And he's hoping to strengthen Boro's | :20:11. | :20:21.
:20:21. | :20:21. | ||
promotion challenge when the transfer window reopens in January. | :20:21. | :20:30.
The chairman has been hugely ambitious over the last few years. | :20:30. | :20:34.
Money was spent, but it did not work out. I would like to think | :20:34. | :20:39.
that, January the chairman will be ambitious again and if he sees an | :20:39. | :20:44.
opportunity for promotion, he will probably listen to where I feel we | :20:44. | :20:52.
need the strength and try and help. In League One, Carlisle take on | :20:52. | :20:55.
Oldham at Brunton Park tomorrow - fresh from that stunning fightback | :20:55. | :20:57.
against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday when they scored three | :20:57. | :21:00.
quick second-half goals, to shake off that 4-0 thumping by the | :21:00. | :21:03.
leaders Charlton a few days earlier. This weekend it's Hartlepool's turn | :21:03. | :21:06.
to take on the Londoners - Pool's having lost to Tranmere in midweek. | :21:06. | :21:09.
Now, while the region's top three clubs don't enter the competition | :21:09. | :21:12.
until January, the FA Cup is already in full swing. Among the | :21:12. | :21:14.
fixtures tomorrow a North-East derby at the International Stadium, | :21:14. | :21:18.
home of Conference club Gateshead. The visitors are near neighbours | :21:18. | :21:22.
Hebburn Town, who play just up the road and are ready for the biggest | :21:22. | :21:32.
:21:32. | :21:33. | ||
game of their lives. Forget Wembley. It does not get | :21:33. | :21:39.
much bigger for Hepburn town when they make the short visit to | :21:39. | :21:46.
Gateshead. Everyone is excited. Is the biggest game in the club's | :21:46. | :21:50.
history. Everyone is up for it. It will be a challenge because | :21:50. | :21:57.
Gateshead are a good team. We have to go in and enjoy it. Whilst their | :21:57. | :22:02.
opponents are professional, this team is made up of plumbers | :22:02. | :22:07.
merchants and bar staff. I have not been able to sleep properly. I had | :22:07. | :22:15.
been out training nearly every day. It is a massive game and a big test, | :22:16. | :22:21.
but it is there for the taking if we play well. The winner will pick | :22:21. | :22:26.
up 12,500 and the chance of drawing a League One show I into | :22:26. | :22:32.
the first round proper. There would be 20,000 people, it will be great. | :22:32. | :22:38.
The excitement of the FA Cup. It will be the best day of my life | :22:38. | :22:45.
tomorrow if we win. Elsewhere, it would be a big turn- | :22:45. | :22:48.
up for Ashington to beat ex- Football League club Grimsby. Craig | :22:48. | :22:51.
Liddle takes caretaker charge of Darlington at the Arena. Conference | :22:51. | :22:54.
promotion rivals York and Wrexham clash in North Wales and famous FA | :22:54. | :22:56.
Cup giant killers Blyth travel to Droylsden, also from Conference | :22:56. | :23:04.
North. A big weekend coming up. He's known as Chatty Man and he's | :23:04. | :23:07.
returning to his Geordie roots this weekend. Alan Carr comes from | :23:07. | :23:10.
generations of miners and is the son of Newcastle United Chief | :23:10. | :23:13.
football scout Graham Carr. This weekend his stand up tour Spexy | :23:13. | :23:17.
Beast is at Newcastle's Metro Arena. Our entertainment reporter Sharuna | :23:17. | :23:27.
:23:27. | :23:27. | ||
Sagar's been trying to get a word in edgeways. | :23:27. | :23:33.
But that you are doing Arena's means you are big. You are massive! | :23:33. | :23:38.
Do you know what? But first time I did an arena, I came off and the | :23:38. | :23:43.
buzz is unbelievable. But it is embarrassing the first time. You | :23:43. | :23:53.
:23:53. | :23:57. | ||
tell a joke and it is like a Mexican wave of laughter because it | :23:57. | :24:05.
is so big. I thought, I'd better start it again. And there were | :24:05. | :24:09.
people with bad seats and you start the next joke and they are still | :24:09. | :24:16.
laughing at the one before. You go, keeper! You must be delighted to be | :24:16. | :24:26.
:24:26. | :24:31. | ||
up north. I am. The whole clan will be here. We will be on the Quayside | :24:31. | :24:39.
after works wearing mini-skirts and not wearing a coat. How do you find | :24:39. | :24:43.
the Geordie audience? They are raucous, but I would not want it | :24:44. | :24:48.
the other way. There is a lot of love for you out there. People just | :24:48. | :24:57.
love you, don't they? Yes, they want to be me. Men are jealous of | :24:57. | :25:07.
:25:07. | :25:12. | ||
me! Is that true? No, you are all right! And now for the weather. | :25:12. | :25:19.
It is glorious hair is evening. It is a clear and calm evening hit in | :25:19. | :25:23.
a Gateshead. Perfect for the launch of the poppy appeal. Let us have a | :25:23. | :25:27.
look at the weekend and I am afraid it is not as good as it was today. | :25:27. | :25:33.
It will be a bit more cloudy and breezy. It will be mainly dry in | :25:33. | :25:41.
the North East, but Cumbria will have a wet start. This evening and | :25:41. | :25:45.
overnight, clear skies for now. They will last up until about | :25:45. | :25:49.
midnight, particularly in the North East. After that the cloud will | :25:50. | :25:53.
thicken and from dawn tomorrow morning the first fringes of rain | :25:53. | :25:58.
will be waiting to pounce on Cumbria and the borders. Overnight | :25:58. | :26:02.
temperatures will be up on last night because we have more of a | :26:02. | :26:08.
breeze picking up and we have at cloud overhead. Into the weekend | :26:08. | :26:12.
itself on Saturday you one noticed that the breeze will be back. It | :26:12. | :26:17.
will be mainly south-westerly and it will continue to blow in from | :26:17. | :26:21.
the West with the cloud and rain. Most of the rain will be confined | :26:21. | :26:25.
to Cumbria and parts of Northumberland, but there is no | :26:25. | :26:30.
line in the sky over the Pennines. It will be light and patchy here, | :26:30. | :26:37.
but heavier in Cumbria. Despite the breeze, it will not be cold. Highs | :26:37. | :26:41.
of 14 Celsius in that south- westerly breeze. If you have a look | :26:41. | :26:46.
at the pressure charts, you can see that the winds are still blown from | :26:46. | :26:50.
the south-west. Although it will be cloudy in the West, it will be dry | :26:50. | :26:56.
it with a hint uprightness for the North East. Just a reminder that it | :26:56. | :27:01.
is the RSPB feed the birds day tomorrow. We are asking you to get | :27:01. | :27:06.
in the habit of leaving food out for the birds to see them through | :27:06. | :27:12.
the winter. Make sure your bird feeder is out of the way of any | :27:12. | :27:21.
caps and docks. A final look at the headlines. -- | :27:21. | :27:27. |
