Hello and welcome to Monday's Look North. | :00:00. | :00:00.
Tonight, deported to Singapore - the County Durham mother | :00:07. | :00:08.
who's been married to a British man for 27 years. | :00:09. | :00:12.
Can DNA testing help identify a World War One soldier | :00:13. | :00:14.
Sir Ian Botham is formally unveiled as the new chairman | :00:15. | :00:20.
The special award to former Look North presenter Mike Neville | :00:21. | :00:26.
for his contribution to broadcasting. | :00:27. | :00:32.
Not too many winners on the football front - | :00:33. | :00:35.
But one familiar face enjoyed the latest twist | :00:36. | :00:39.
in the battle to stay clear of the Premier League trap door. | :00:40. | :00:55.
A County Durham grandmother says she was treated "like a terrorist" | :00:56. | :00:57.
by immigration officials who deported her from Britain. | :00:58. | :01:00.
Irene Clennell from Chester Le Street has been | :01:01. | :01:04.
married to a British man for 27 years | :01:05. | :01:06.
but has now been sent back to to Singapore. | :01:07. | :01:09.
The Home Office says she broke immigration rules | :01:10. | :01:11.
and has been living in Britain illegally for three years. | :01:12. | :01:15.
But Irene Clennell's supporters say she's been treated appallingly. | :01:16. | :01:18.
Here's our News Correspondent Mark Denten. | :01:19. | :01:23.
Tonight, Irene Clennell is 6,000 miles away from | :01:24. | :01:25.
Despite having a British husband, children and grandchildren | :01:26. | :01:28.
she was put on a plane by immigration officials | :01:29. | :01:30.
The way they escorted me was like I was a terrorist. They got both of my | :01:31. | :01:47.
arms, like, locked in, like this. And I am walking in the middle and | :01:48. | :01:52.
everybody's looking. And I was thinking, why? | :01:53. | :01:56.
Although she was originally given indefinite leave to remain | :01:57. | :01:58.
in Britain after her marriage, the immigration service say | :01:59. | :02:00.
she's spent too long back in Singapore, partly looking | :02:01. | :02:02.
Now her husband John is sick, too, | :02:03. | :02:05.
and disgusted at the way she's been treated. | :02:06. | :02:08.
I think it is a disgrace. Surely through the period of time, it is | :02:09. | :02:18.
not just the marriage of convenience. It is a genuine | :02:19. | :02:25.
marriage. And like I said, it is underhand, what they've done. | :02:26. | :02:26.
Now politicians have called on the Home Secretary to intervene. | :02:27. | :02:30.
The government have set this arbitrary target of reducing net | :02:31. | :02:37.
migration to the tens of thousands. And therefore, they are deporting | :02:38. | :02:44.
anybody and everybody who does not fit exactly within rules. There is | :02:45. | :02:46.
no room for compassion or humanity. Tonight a funding appeal to help | :02:47. | :02:48.
with Irene Clennell's legal costs What have I done? Nothing. And I | :02:49. | :02:50.
feel like a terrorist. So Mark tonight the Clennell family | :02:51. | :03:12.
are on opposite sides of the world - what does the Home Office have to | :03:13. | :03:15.
say about all of this? Unusually, the Home Office has | :03:16. | :03:23.
issued a full statement about this case. What they are saying is that | :03:24. | :03:28.
all applications are considered on their individual merits and in line | :03:29. | :03:32.
with emigration rules. They go on to say... | :03:33. | :03:41.
The Home Office also say that Irene's appeal rights were exhausted | :03:42. | :03:48.
three years ago and she has no legal basis to live within the UK since | :03:49. | :03:54.
the 10th of July, 2014. This case is turning not into just a row about | :03:55. | :03:58.
immigration rules, but about the way that those rules are actually | :03:59. | :03:59.
enforce. -- enforced. The jury in a murder trial | :04:00. | :04:05.
in Carlisle has heard how a woman died in an act | :04:06. | :04:07.
which was Melinda Korosi, who was originally | :04:08. | :04:09.
from Hungary, was found with extensive injuries to her head, | :04:10. | :04:15.
face and neck at her home | :04:16. | :04:19.
in the city in September last year. It's alleged she was attacked | :04:20. | :04:24.
by her partner Miklos Verebes just two days after he'd been released | :04:25. | :04:27.
from prison for Mr Verebes, who's 29 and also | :04:28. | :04:29.
from Hungary denies murder in September last year and three | :04:30. | :04:33.
counts of rape between October | :04:34. | :04:35.
2012 and July 2016. A man who died after being stabbed | :04:36. | :04:36.
in the centre of Newcastle last week He was Frankie Cooper, who was 22 | :04:37. | :04:44.
and from the Newcastle area. He was stabbed in Princess Square | :04:45. | :04:49.
next to the city library last Monday lunchtime and died | :04:50. | :04:52.
in hospital yesterday. Two people have already been charged | :04:53. | :04:54.
with causing grievous bodily harm. Tributes have been paid | :04:55. | :05:02.
to Neil Fingleton, who, at seven feet seven, | :05:03. | :05:06.
was Britain's tallest man. The 36-year-old from Durham | :05:07. | :05:10.
died at the weekend. He made a career - | :05:11. | :05:12.
first as a basketball player - and then as an actor, | :05:13. | :05:15.
starring in TV shows like The family of a North | :05:16. | :05:17.
Yorkshire pensioner who was killed in a hit-and-run | :05:18. | :05:26.
crash 10 years ago are appealing | :05:27. | :05:28.
for help to find the driver. 75-year-old Bill Hendry | :05:29. | :05:30.
was knocked down while walking his | :05:31. | :05:32.
dog in Knaresborough. The person responsible | :05:33. | :05:33.
still hasn't come forward. They could never have imagined they | :05:34. | :05:45.
would still be trying to get justice, ten years on. But today, | :05:46. | :05:49.
the family of Bill Hendry return to the spot where he was knocked down | :05:50. | :05:54.
and killed in Knaresborough. The driver didn't stop and left him on | :05:55. | :05:59.
the road. We would like an end to it, we would like an answer. We just | :06:00. | :06:07.
want a bit of justice and someone to have the courage to say, I know | :06:08. | :06:11.
who's done it, or the person who's done it. I've lived in Knaresborough | :06:12. | :06:18.
since 1968 and I walk around knowing that somebody's dominate. I just | :06:19. | :06:26.
want an answer. Bill's beloved dog Abbey run home after he was hit and | :06:27. | :06:30.
was found waiting on the doorstep of their house. Bill died in hospital a | :06:31. | :06:38.
short time later. Police admit there are no new lines of investigation. | :06:39. | :06:44.
So, this morning, officers stopped motorists to try to get fresh | :06:45. | :06:48.
information. Bill Hendry had just been to the post office. He was | :06:49. | :06:53.
crossing Stockwell Lane with his dog, Abbey, when he was hit. It was | :06:54. | :06:57.
just after 9:30am. This is a busy commuter route. But although people | :06:58. | :07:04.
living here told police they heard the collision, nobody saw the | :07:05. | :07:07.
vehicle involved. Does the family have confidence that you will get | :07:08. | :07:14.
justice for Bill? If they haven't got the courage, then we're hoping | :07:15. | :07:21.
for somebody who knows who's done it to do the decent thing. Police say | :07:22. | :07:28.
the person who hit Bill Hendry was driving a car or small van that was | :07:29. | :07:34.
travelling at speed. They will have known exactly what happened, and the | :07:35. | :07:38.
vehicle would have been damaged. Detectives believe this is their | :07:39. | :07:39.
last chance to catch them. It was one of the bloodiest battles | :07:40. | :07:43.
of the First World War. In 1916, 60,000 British | :07:44. | :07:46.
soldiers were killed with the Yorkshire Regiment | :07:47. | :07:49.
suffering more losses than most. The regiment's fighting force | :07:50. | :07:53.
was recruited from across Yorkshire But the bodies of many | :07:54. | :07:55.
listed as missing in action Now though, a recent discovery and | :07:56. | :08:06.
some remarkable science could bring | :08:07. | :08:10.
comfort to one grieving family. for a special report | :08:11. | :08:11.
on tonight's Inside Out. Fred Holmes is about to give a | :08:12. | :08:25.
sample of his DNA. It is a test that could explain what happened to his | :08:26. | :08:29.
great uncle John, a soldier killed in 1916, and one of the many whose | :08:30. | :08:34.
bodies have never been found. I know in my heart, if I wanted to go and | :08:35. | :08:44.
be close to him I could go to Theipval and see his name on the | :08:45. | :08:50.
memorial there. But it would be nice to see a gravestone. Fred was my | :08:51. | :08:56.
great uncle served with the Yorkshire Regiment and whilst many | :08:57. | :09:00.
are remembered in the war cemeteries of northern France, for him at | :09:01. | :09:06.
500,000 others, there is no recognised grave. 100 years on, for | :09:07. | :09:12.
one family, there is a glimmer of hope. Last year in a field in | :09:13. | :09:24.
France, human remains were discovered of World War I soldier | :09:25. | :09:28.
with a very distinctive cap badge. To get that clue, that helps to | :09:29. | :09:33.
narrow down the possibilities who this individual might be. It is a | :09:34. | :09:38.
fantastic start. In Gloucestershire, a team of four detectives from the | :09:39. | :09:43.
MoD work tasked with taking the investigation further, with the | :09:44. | :09:49.
regimental badge providing crucial clues. The 5th Battalion was a | :09:50. | :09:53.
territorial unit. How much of a head start does this give you? If you | :09:54. | :09:57.
didn't have that insignia, you would not be able to take it forward. You | :09:58. | :10:02.
have to be able to determine what the regiment is before you can | :10:03. | :10:06.
proceed with any sort of research. As inquiries continue, it emerges | :10:07. | :10:09.
that the soldier could be related to one of 12 different families, with | :10:10. | :10:15.
DNA tests trying to establish if there is a positive match. Tonight | :10:16. | :10:22.
we will discover on Inside Out if the mystery is solved and if one | :10:23. | :10:26.
long lost soldier can be reunited with his family. It is a fascinating | :10:27. | :10:30.
story. And you can find out exactly what | :10:31. | :10:32.
happens at 7.30 here on BBC One. Teamtalk is coming up shortly. Also | :10:33. | :10:36.
on Monday's Look North, envelopes at the ready, as the | :10:37. | :10:39.
Royal Television Society announces its award winners at a glitzy event | :10:40. | :10:41.
on Tyneside. Snow and ice but get a mention in | :10:42. | :10:54.
the Monday night forecast. I'll be back shortly with the full story. | :10:55. | :11:02.
Sir Ian Botham's been formally unveiled as the new chairman | :11:03. | :11:04.
The former England cricketer - who finished his career | :11:05. | :11:07.
as a Durham player in 1993 - takes over as the club forms | :11:08. | :11:10.
The game's ruling body - the ECB - had to bail out the club last year | :11:11. | :11:15.
after debts threatened to put it into administration. | :11:16. | :11:17.
However, Sir Ian says he can bring new cash to Durham. | :11:18. | :11:20.
Our Business Correspondent Ian Reeve reports. | :11:21. | :11:30.
They won't bother looking for that, let alone chasing it. The sporting | :11:31. | :11:37.
success of Sir Ian Botham is beyond question with over 5000 runs scored | :11:38. | :11:42.
for England and 383 wickets taken. But his latest challenge is | :11:43. | :11:47.
financial, ensuring that Durham does not find itself mired in debt again, | :11:48. | :11:51.
and as the new chairman, attracting cash to the club. My job as chairman | :11:52. | :11:56.
is to bang down doors and help get sponsorship, bring new people to the | :11:57. | :12:01.
ground, new investors. I live in the north-east. I have done for 30- odd | :12:02. | :12:06.
years. And also, I am very proud to be asked to do this job. People want | :12:07. | :12:11.
is to be successful again. We should be one of the biggest clubs in the | :12:12. | :12:14.
country and my intention is to get us back to where we should be. The | :12:15. | :12:19.
ruling body of the game, the ECB, wrote of much of Durham's debt. The | :12:20. | :12:26.
council turned its debt into shares in the new company. But the new club | :12:27. | :12:31.
still owes over 300 in quarters of ?1 million to the North East Local | :12:32. | :12:35.
Enterprise Partnership. -- three quarters of ?1 million. We're not | :12:36. | :12:42.
ducking and diving and burying our heads in the sand. We know what has | :12:43. | :12:47.
got to be done. Between us, the council, myself and the ECB and the | :12:48. | :12:50.
people up here, we will be fine. Look at it this way, in comparison | :12:51. | :12:55.
to most football clubs, we are very healthy. The club was relegated by | :12:56. | :13:02.
the ECB to the Division 2 and given a points deduction, punishment for | :13:03. | :13:04.
its perceived financial misbehaviour, something that Sir Ian | :13:05. | :13:11.
hopes that he can help with. There was a bigger name in cricket than | :13:12. | :13:15.
Sir Ian Botham. He will bring a lot of cricket side but also, he can | :13:16. | :13:19.
open his commercial contacts and sponsors and city contacts, etc, so | :13:20. | :13:24.
he will contribute to the business side but first and foremost he is a | :13:25. | :13:27.
cricketer and he will lead on the cricket side. Sir Ian Botham was a | :13:28. | :13:34.
Durham player, the club providing an end to his career in 1983, but now | :13:35. | :13:38.
he's back with the hope that he can be as big a hit financially as he | :13:39. | :13:41.
was at the wicket. Former BBC Look North presenter | :13:42. | :13:47.
Mike Neville was presented with a special award | :13:48. | :13:49.
for his contribution to broadcasting at the regional | :13:50. | :13:51.
Royal Television Society's annual awards in Gateshead | :13:52. | :13:53.
on Saturday night. There were gongs for a number | :13:54. | :13:55.
of others from the North's TV industry, including on screen | :13:56. | :14:00.
personalities And I'm glad to say there was no | :14:01. | :14:02.
mix-up over the envelopes. Some might say it's not | :14:03. | :14:09.
as big as the Oscars. who spent over 30 years at BBC | :14:10. | :14:12.
Look North, has turned 80. I would like to say, in effect, that | :14:13. | :14:32.
I am also rather grateful that I am still around to pick it up in person | :14:33. | :14:37.
rather than posthumously! Thank you very much, thank you. | :14:38. | :14:41.
Another broadcaster received an oustanding contribution award. | :14:42. | :14:43.
Fiona Armstrong has worked in regional | :14:44. | :14:44.
and is a presenter on the weekly ITV series, Border Life. | :14:45. | :14:51.
The Best Drama was Vera, which is filmed in our region. | :14:52. | :14:57.
And its star Brenda Blethyn won in the Best Performance category. | :14:58. | :15:00.
And the thrill of receiving this has doubled the static electricity in my | :15:01. | :15:08.
Froch! -- frock. ITV Tyne Tees won | :15:09. | :15:17.
Best News Programme of the year. After finding a number of exclusive | :15:18. | :15:20.
stories BBC journalist BBC Inside Out's Dan Farthing, | :15:21. | :15:23.
who worked on a feature about the aftermath of fatal road | :15:24. | :15:27.
accidents, won | :15:28. | :15:29.
the Outstanding Journalism award. And the BBC won an award | :15:30. | :15:30.
for its programme, The Gift Of Hearing, about helping | :15:31. | :15:32.
deaf children in Bangladesh. Congratulations to everyone. I don't | :15:33. | :15:43.
think it was a quiet night. Time now for the sports news in | :15:44. | :15:48.
Teamtalk. Not the best of weekends for our | :15:49. | :15:52.
teams - without a win between them, and for some the threat | :15:53. | :15:55.
of relegation Sunderland are still bottom | :15:56. | :15:57.
of the Premier League. Middlesbrough now just a point | :15:58. | :16:01.
above the drop zone after losing | :16:02. | :16:03.
to Sam Allardyce's Crystal Palace. And they're still not scoring, | :16:04. | :16:05.
Steve! That's right. They are sinking down | :16:06. | :16:13.
the table, not creating opportunities and conceding too many | :16:14. | :16:20.
at the other end. They just didn't seem against Palace to be in the | :16:21. | :16:25.
game, did they? They are conceding opportunities and just creating half | :16:26. | :16:28.
chances, just lacking that cutting edge in the final third. Aitor | :16:29. | :16:35.
Karanka seems to know this is happening but can't seem to change | :16:36. | :16:42.
it. Good passing but not that killer instinct. It is unfortunate that | :16:43. | :16:51.
that sums them up at the minute. And then they know that it is not going | :16:52. | :16:57.
to be their day. Four victories all season for Middlesbrough, it is a | :16:58. | :17:00.
bad habit. It is the lack of any plan B. The frustration for the fans | :17:01. | :17:04.
is that they are just huffing and puffing. The fans would like to see | :17:05. | :17:10.
something different away from the formation they are playing, 4-2-3-1, | :17:11. | :17:20.
and this was definitely a penalty, definitely not a charge for | :17:21. | :17:24.
simulation. This summed up the day for Middlesbrough. That one goes | :17:25. | :17:25.
into Row Z. So - is Aitor Karanka | :17:26. | :17:28.
still confident Boro have got what it takes to stay in the Premier | :17:29. | :17:30.
League? Yes, of course, we have two be | :17:31. | :17:36.
working, we have to keep going together, and we will do things | :17:37. | :17:41.
together. We know that things are hard, but all we can do is keep | :17:42. | :17:49.
working well. On to Sunderland - who're also | :17:50. | :17:51.
finding the goals have dried up. They've only scored in two | :17:52. | :17:54.
of their last eight games - It just seems all those relegation | :17:55. | :17:56.
battles have finally caught up with them, | :17:57. | :18:00.
Steve. I think what is happening off the | :18:01. | :18:05.
field will not help the atmosphere around the place. They need to win | :18:06. | :18:12.
five more games. We have highlighted the ones in yellow as five games | :18:13. | :18:16.
that are winnable. They have formed for this time of the season, sadly | :18:17. | :18:21.
not perform the pitch at the moment. A little prayer at the start there, | :18:22. | :18:26.
and that is probably what they need at them. They were not great on | :18:27. | :18:29.
Saturday but they were still pretty comfortable in the game. Just not | :18:30. | :18:34.
tracking the run. If you stay in the game, with this guy, you've always | :18:35. | :18:39.
got the chance. But if you rely on one chance and you don't take it,... | :18:40. | :18:45.
Just sums up the way the luck is going for them at the moment. They | :18:46. | :18:51.
really need to get cracking. 80 minutes, very comfortable, but the | :18:52. | :18:56.
power and pace of Romelu Lukaku, 80 minutes, it is game on. | :18:57. | :18:58.
certainly with his team's first-half performance. | :18:59. | :19:05.
The passing was terrible when we got it. We didn't play with any | :19:06. | :19:09.
competence and showed any belief when we got the ball. I said to them | :19:10. | :19:14.
at the end of the game, well done, because at least in the second half | :19:15. | :19:17.
we turned it around and made it a game and had one or two chances. | :19:18. | :19:21.
What do you make of the picture at the bottom so given that some teams | :19:22. | :19:26.
seem to be running into form? We have still got our time to run into | :19:27. | :19:34.
form, so plenty of games to go. Sunday is a tough game, Manchester | :19:35. | :19:39.
City. After that you look at five out of 11. Four points worse off | :19:40. | :19:42.
than this time last season. It is now or never. Like it has been every | :19:43. | :19:45.
year for the last umpteen years. Into the Championship - | :19:46. | :19:47.
Brighton's turn to take the leadership back | :19:48. | :19:49.
from Newcastle this weekend! Nervous times ahead | :19:50. | :19:50.
for the Magpies, Steve. Some big games coming up - | :19:51. | :19:52.
but they seem to be playing better away from St James's Park, | :19:53. | :19:55.
which is unusual? This is the real business end of | :19:56. | :20:03.
this season. 35 points at home, 35 points away. The way that the | :20:04. | :20:08.
formation is, and the pressure to perform at St James' Park they are | :20:09. | :20:11.
better off having those victories away from home. Just have a look at | :20:12. | :20:16.
this one, from the goalkeeper. When the defenders turned around and face | :20:17. | :20:20.
you you have got to take charge. Whether he has not heard him, they | :20:21. | :20:24.
have given themselves a mountain to climb and it could've been worse. | :20:25. | :20:29.
Three big away games coming up. They need six wins to go up and if they | :20:30. | :20:33.
can get a couple of them this week it would be a massive, massive boost | :20:34. | :20:39.
them. Mika sold to keep digging at resorts, don't they? Eight games | :20:40. | :20:45.
unbeaten -- Newcastle keep digging out results. Almost pinched it right | :20:46. | :20:56.
at the end. I think because the reaction of the team was so good, we | :20:57. | :21:03.
know that we can do it. It is a question now to bring back the | :21:04. | :21:06.
confidence and to work in the same way that we were doing in the past. | :21:07. | :21:12.
So that a team that is in our position, we need to have this | :21:13. | :21:19.
confidence. He said that he knew nothing about reports linking him to | :21:20. | :21:23.
a job in China. Everybody has been linked to a job in China! | :21:24. | :21:25.
In League Two, just when it looked as if Carlisle had turned a corner - | :21:26. | :21:29.
This is how it looks at the top of the table. | :21:30. | :21:33.
Portsmouth closing the gap to just three points - | :21:34. | :21:36.
with a game in hand - after winning 3-0 at Brunton Park. | :21:37. | :21:38.
It's going down to the wire this one, Steve? | :21:39. | :21:41.
At the start of the season when they didn't play well, they still got a | :21:42. | :21:46.
point, but this is a tough result for them. They are shooting | :21:47. | :21:49.
themselves in the foot, and Portsmouth with huge momentum move | :21:50. | :21:55.
-- huge momentum, moving forward now. They crumbled towards the end. | :21:56. | :22:00.
21 games without a clean sheet, they really need to get that sorted. And | :22:01. | :22:04.
these are the games that you have to do well in, when you're playing | :22:05. | :22:08.
against your rivals. Yes, that was poor. And at the other end of this | :22:09. | :22:16.
table, Hartlepool are struggling. Five successive away defeats, actor | :22:17. | :22:20.
back home games this week, against Crewe Alexandra and Exeter. That is | :22:21. | :22:26.
a clumsy challenge there, he gets caught on the wrong side. Doesn't | :22:27. | :22:32.
have it under control. The bonus was getting back in the game and having | :22:33. | :22:37.
Nathan Thomas back. He is back and scoring goals, that is one crumb of | :22:38. | :22:38.
comfort. And after winning through to | :22:39. | :22:39.
the semi-finals of the FA Trophy at the weekend, | :22:40. | :22:41.
York have been drawn against FA Cup | :22:42. | :22:43.
giant-killers Lincoln City. That's all the football - | :22:44. | :22:46.
and our thanks again to Steve. Elsewhere, two of our sides | :22:47. | :22:51.
are through to tomorrow evening's fourth round draw of Rugby League's | :22:52. | :22:57.
Challenge Cup. It was mighty close | :22:58. | :22:59.
at Kingston Park though. This penalty in the 72nd minute | :23:00. | :23:00.
securing a narrow victory for Newcastle Thunder, who'd gone | :23:01. | :23:04.
16-0 down to Workington Town early on, before staging | :23:05. | :23:07.
an impressive comeback. Also through are Whitehaven - | :23:08. | :23:11.
winners by the same score at West Hull, and York, | :23:12. | :23:14.
who thrashed amateur club Egremont at Bootham Crescent, scoring 10 | :23:15. | :23:17.
tries. In rugby union Newcastle Falcons | :23:18. | :23:24.
have signed Yorkshire Carnegie captain Ryan Burrows | :23:25. | :23:26.
for next season. But Exeter Chiefs continue | :23:27. | :23:29.
to be the Falcons' They made a positive start | :23:30. | :23:31.
at Sandy Park, taking an early lead through Niki Goneva who crossed | :23:32. | :23:38.
after just four minutes. Will Welch added another | :23:39. | :23:40.
and the Falcons trailed But the Chiefs turned the screw | :23:41. | :23:42.
in the second half, running in five tries in all to leave | :23:43. | :23:50.
the Falcons empty-handed. England women's Six Nations victory | :23:51. | :23:51.
over Italy was marred by a red card for Darlington Mowden Park Sharks | :23:52. | :23:54.
fly-half Katy McLean. She was one of two England players | :23:55. | :23:57.
sent off for a high tackle. And disppointment for | :23:58. | :24:03.
Team Northumbria, who lost 70-46 to Wasps in Netball's Superleague, | :24:04. | :24:06.
and saw captain Katarina Cooper stretchered off with a potentially | :24:07. | :24:08.
serious knee injury. She really looked in pain, that | :24:09. | :24:25.
girl. We have had the winter tyres taken off the car. And we watch this | :24:26. | :24:37.
every night! It is the tail end off every, and it is still winter. We're | :24:38. | :24:43.
starting off with a wintry looking picture from Ian, looking out across | :24:44. | :24:49.
the border. Certainly, there is a wintry feel in places as we head | :24:50. | :24:54.
into tonight. There is some rain, sleet and hill snow at the minute. | :24:55. | :24:58.
That will tend to die away with the skies clearing for many of us and | :24:59. | :25:01.
icy stretch is becoming the main thing to watch out for during this | :25:02. | :25:06.
evening and overnight. There was a Met Office warning for the risk of | :25:07. | :25:09.
icy stretches on untreated roads and pavements. Even some of the roads | :25:10. | :25:16.
that have been gritted, just take care if you're out and about | :25:17. | :25:21.
overnight. Those showers dying away with snow being limited to higher | :25:22. | :25:25.
ground and most place is drying up overnight. As the skies clear, | :25:26. | :25:28.
temperatures falling to about 0 Celsius. The Wings, fairly light | :25:29. | :25:36.
through the night with one or two missed four patch as possible | :25:37. | :25:39.
towards the end of the night -- the winds. The risk of those icy | :25:40. | :25:43.
stretches continues until ten o'clock tomorrow morning. Tomorrow | :25:44. | :25:50.
it's self, a dry start, a cold, icy starting places. Any snow, again, | :25:51. | :26:01.
limited to the fells with rain at lower levels. Further east, tending | :26:02. | :26:06.
to stay drier and brighter. Afternoon temperatures peaking at | :26:07. | :26:12.
around seven Celsius. The winds, generally westerly, picking up a | :26:13. | :26:16.
northerly is on the Cumbrian coast through the afternoon. So it is a | :26:17. | :26:20.
messy weather chart over the next few days. One area of low pressure | :26:21. | :26:24.
pulls away with others coming in from the Atlantic. Heavy rain | :26:25. | :26:28.
through the middle part of the week remaining to the south of us, | :26:29. | :26:32.
although we will get our share at times. It is unsettled picture. By | :26:33. | :26:38.
the end of the week the air coming from a south-westerly direction so | :26:39. | :26:41.
temperatures will begin to rise ever so slightly during the latter part | :26:42. | :26:45.
of the working week. Heading through Tuesday and into Wednesday, some | :26:46. | :26:50.
showers in the West. Highs of seven Celsius. Wednesday through the day, | :26:51. | :26:55.
a drive picture but most of us will see some rain on Wednesday night, | :26:56. | :26:58.
and heading into Thursday and Friday, still the risk of some | :26:59. | :27:05.
showers at times. Temperatures around eight, nine Celsius. So | :27:06. | :27:09.
slightly milder to end the week. And remember to keep those were the | :27:10. | :27:14.
pictures coming. I've told my dad, I've told him once! Does you listen? | :27:15. | :27:21.
No. Think he would accrue some wisdom, he is 80. Maybe he has. | :27:22. | :27:27.
That's it from us, night. -- good night. | :27:28. | :27:54.
To be in the Lords, you have to be punctual... | :27:55. | :27:56.
literally have to slam the door in somebody's face. | :27:57. | :28:00.
What right do they have to tell ME about my fashion sense. | :28:01. | :28:05.
Can you now control your bad language? Yes, I will. | :28:06. | :28:10.
Otherwise you'll be, you know, drummed out. | :28:11. | :28:13.
To win on something as important as this | :28:14. | :28:18.
A unique opportunity to meet the Lords. | :28:19. | :28:21. |
