He was a respected businessman, a headteacher | :01:13. | :01:14.
And to many, Colin Gregg from Newcastle was a pillar | :01:15. | :01:24.
of the community - the son of the founder | :01:25. | :01:26.
But tonight he faces jail, his reputation in tatters: convicted | :01:27. | :01:29.
by a jury of a string of sex attacks on boys, over almost thirty years. | :01:30. | :01:33.
Our correspondent Peter Harris is outside Leeds Crown Court. | :01:34. | :01:36.
Colin Gregg claimed he was the victim of some kind of police | :01:37. | :01:49.
witchhunt, that the boys were liars, motivated by a desire for | :01:50. | :01:52.
compensation. The jury hears sore straits without, which means there | :01:53. | :01:58.
is justice at last. -- saw straight through it, which means there is | :01:59. | :02:00.
justice at last for those victims. Do you think you owe the boys | :02:01. | :02:02.
and apology, Mr Gregg? Why did you never admit | :02:03. | :02:06.
what you done to them? The judge told him jail | :02:07. | :02:12.
will be inevitable. Colin Gregg leaves | :02:13. | :02:15.
Newcastle Crown Court. I have one statement | :02:16. | :02:20.
to from Mr Gregg. I refer you to my statement | :02:21. | :02:28.
of the 5th of July, Mr Gregg is a fervent | :02:29. | :02:31.
believer in the fairness of the British justice system, | :02:32. | :02:34.
and is confident that it will find him innocent | :02:35. | :02:36.
of these unfounded charge. The 14-year-old alleged victim | :02:37. | :02:39.
wasn't believed by the jury. The verdicts back then, | :02:40. | :02:49.
perhaps unsurprising. He'd helped raise millions | :02:50. | :02:50.
through the yellow Brick Road fund, He'd helped raise millions | :02:51. | :02:58.
through the Yellow Brick Road fund, Back in the 60s, he'd helped build | :02:59. | :03:00.
the family's bakery chain. He'd been a teacher, | :03:01. | :03:04.
a headteacher and a social worker. But the suggestion of | :03:05. | :03:07.
a dark side persisted. Soon after that first trial, | :03:08. | :03:08.
in 1997, two more men came forward to allege they too had been abused | :03:09. | :03:13.
by Colin Gregg in the 1960s. A judge back then decided those | :03:14. | :03:20.
cases couldn't go any further. Former headmaster of a school | :03:21. | :03:23.
in Tynemouth has been arrested on suspicion | :03:24. | :03:33.
of a historic sexual offence. Police raided his home | :03:34. | :03:36.
in Newcastle on Saturday. He was taken in for questioning, | :03:37. | :03:39.
and has now been released on bail. We can now report that in 2016, | :03:40. | :03:43.
Gregg went on trial accused of 26 counts of indecent assault on nine | :03:44. | :03:50.
boys at Newcastle Crown Court. He was found not guilty | :03:51. | :03:55.
on 11 of those charges, but the jury couldn't | :03:56. | :03:59.
decide on others. And so, this year, | :04:00. | :04:02.
a retrial was held in Leeds. This time, he was charged with nine | :04:03. | :04:05.
counts of indecent assault on four boys over a period | :04:06. | :04:08.
of almost 30 years. Gregg had denied abusing one boy | :04:09. | :04:14.
in a swimming pool in the 60s, and others in the gym of his home | :04:15. | :04:19.
after going four runs He'd said he was performing | :04:20. | :04:22.
stretching exercises on them. One, then aged 11 or 12, | :04:23. | :04:28.
described what happened to. I had a huge amount of respect | :04:29. | :04:32.
and admiration for him. To think he might be up | :04:33. | :04:36.
to wrong was inconceivable. I was absolutely mortified, | :04:37. | :04:40.
and hugely embarrassed. The guilty verdicts | :04:41. | :04:48.
bring justice at last. Colin Gregg was in a position | :04:49. | :04:51.
of trust, which he used We hope today's outcome | :04:52. | :04:54.
gives the victims some The case demonstrates its never too | :04:55. | :04:59.
late to report abuse. Colin Gregg's reputation | :05:00. | :05:06.
is now ruined. As the prosecution had always | :05:07. | :05:08.
claimed, beneath the veneer of respectability lies | :05:09. | :05:11.
an abuser of children. Let us hear Colin Gregg now in his | :05:12. | :05:26.
own words. When interviewed by the police, he claimed these were | :05:27. | :05:29.
copycat claims cobbled together from media coverage. This is what he told | :05:30. | :05:30.
the police. Do you accept that there | :05:31. | :05:34.
are distinct similarities between the previous people we've | :05:35. | :05:35.
spoken about over the last few days, Effectively, in relation to all | :05:36. | :05:38.
these people we have spoken to, is that your suggestion, | :05:39. | :05:47.
that they have manufactured this based on what they have seen | :05:48. | :05:55.
in the news, or read Colin Gregg has been released on | :05:56. | :06:07.
bail tonight, but we'll be back in court at Newcastle Crown Court on | :06:08. | :06:10.
the 30th of March for sentence and the judge has told he'll be going to | :06:11. | :06:14.
prison. Peter Harris in Leeds, thank you. | :06:15. | :06:20.
She had a short and tragic life of just 13 months. | :06:21. | :06:23.
Three years later, we still don't know why Poppi Worthington died. | :06:24. | :06:27.
But we do know a family court found she'd probably been sexually | :06:28. | :06:29.
abused by her father - and he's never faced any charges. | :06:30. | :06:33.
Now a catalogue of failures by Cumbria police, over the course | :06:34. | :06:38.
of the investigation has been laid bare in a report | :06:39. | :06:41.
by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. | :06:42. | :06:42.
The blunders that marred the investigation into Poppi's death | :06:43. | :06:47.
began the night officers were called to her home in December 2012. | :06:48. | :06:52.
For instance, the child's last nappy was thrown out, | :06:53. | :06:58.
The investigator found evidence that there had been an unstructured | :06:59. | :07:17.
investigation, essentially not fit for purpose. We found concerns in | :07:18. | :07:20.
relation to the scene where Poppi had been was managed. | :07:21. | :07:22.
home just before six on the morning of December 12th, 2012. | :07:23. | :07:31.
At 7.07 that morning she was declared dead | :07:32. | :07:33.
at the Furness General Hospital in Barrow. | :07:34. | :07:35.
The investigation then effectively went into cold storage for seven | :07:36. | :07:37.
months while officers waited for pathology reports. | :07:38. | :07:41.
On August 28 2013, Poppi's parents were arrested. | :07:42. | :07:43.
Neither were charged with any offence Cumbria's Chief Constable | :07:44. | :07:52.
admits it has been a shameful episode. | :07:53. | :07:57.
There are basic things, I can only apologise to the family of Poppi for | :07:58. | :08:04.
the basic mistakes made. I'm not running away, we are not running | :08:05. | :08:08.
away from our inadequacies in this investigation. We're not trying to | :08:09. | :08:12.
cover everything up. We're not trying to pretend it's better than | :08:13. | :08:19.
it was. It was in a Dutch Redwood was an inadequate investigation, and | :08:20. | :08:25.
I accept that. -- it was an inadequate investigation. | :08:26. | :08:27.
family court hearing, a judge said Poppi was probably | :08:28. | :08:30.
abused by her father, Paul Worthington. | :08:31. | :08:32.
The IPCC report says there was enough evidence | :08:33. | :08:34.
to arrest him on the day of Poppi's death, but delays meant he was later | :08:35. | :08:37.
The police insist they have learned lessons. | :08:38. | :08:40.
We have put in checks and balances to make sure no one can sit on a | :08:41. | :08:44.
case of seven months. I'm confident it won't happen again in the same | :08:45. | :08:47.
way, it will be challenged and picked up much quicker. | :08:48. | :08:48.
And Mark's in our Carlisle studio now. | :08:49. | :08:50.
So what's happened to the police officers involved in | :08:51. | :08:52.
Two offices in particular are mentioned in this IP CC report, and | :08:53. | :09:07.
neither ask that any producers. Duport says they were both | :09:08. | :09:14.
responsible -- they are not spared any criticism. While the report says | :09:15. | :09:19.
that Detective Superintendent Forrester should have faced a | :09:20. | :09:24.
hearing for gross misconduct, he has retired and has faced no formal | :09:25. | :09:27.
sanction for what went wrong during their investigation. Detective | :09:28. | :09:34.
Inspector Amanda Sadler was given a hearing of gross incompetence, but | :09:35. | :09:39.
not sacked. She has now left the force as well. There will also be a | :09:40. | :09:47.
fresh inquest into Poppi's death held in May. There will be no fresh | :09:48. | :09:51.
evidence, so it is possible we will never know what happened to Poppi in | :09:52. | :09:56.
that night of December 2000 12. Mark, thank you. -- 2012. | :09:57. | :10:03.
A man's been charged with murder after a body | :10:04. | :10:05.
Craig Eade, who was 23, was found in a back lane | :10:06. | :10:09.
Local man Paul Watkins, who's 36, has been charged | :10:10. | :10:13.
with murder and is due before magistrates tomorrow. | :10:14. | :10:15.
Many of us will remember its famous revolving dance floor. | :10:16. | :10:17.
But the floating nightclub, the Tuxedo Royale, has | :10:18. | :10:19.
The ship has been tied up at the dock - owned | :10:20. | :10:23.
by Teesside company Able UK - since 2009 after its owner went | :10:24. | :10:26.
Now, Middlesbrough council has agreed to share the costs with Able | :10:27. | :10:30.
to have the ship scrapped, as Ian Reeve reports. | :10:31. | :10:34.
The Tuxedo Royale partially sunk, listing, resting on the riverbed | :10:35. | :10:39.
It's been here since 2009 after its owner went | :10:40. | :10:46.
into administration, leaving it with no legal owner. | :10:47. | :10:51.
But now Middlesbrough Council has a plan to remove the ship. | :10:52. | :10:58.
We've decided to work Able, with the owner of the land and water | :10:59. | :11:01.
that it's on to raise the ship and dismantle it. | :11:02. | :11:03.
The Crown have denied all responsibility for it, | :11:04. | :11:12.
the owners went bankrupt and left it on the land, so it's something that | :11:13. | :11:15.
belongs to nobody that's been an eyesore for a long | :11:16. | :11:17.
The ship gained some fame as a nightclub when it was berthed | :11:18. | :11:21.
Its sister ship the Tuxedo Princess was also berthed there. | :11:22. | :11:27.
The ship was originally named the TSS Dover and launched | :11:28. | :11:37.
from Swan Hunter's Tyneside shipyard in 1965. | :11:38. | :11:39.
It was one of the last steam turbine ships to be built - | :11:40. | :11:42.
something that enthusiasts thought made it worth saving. | :11:43. | :11:43.
However, the costs of doing so are too expensive. | :11:44. | :11:49.
Two of the people who sadly haven't raised funds for it, | :11:50. | :11:52.
one was looking at ?40 million, one was looking at ?14 million. | :11:53. | :11:55.
The ship is also detracting from the development | :11:56. | :11:57.
of the surrounding Middlehaven site, including a proposed | :11:58. | :11:59.
I'm sure that has stirred a lot of memories for a lot of you. | :12:00. | :12:21.
Now, imagine being told - for once - that one of your many bills | :12:22. | :12:24.
Well that's the lucky situation some North East firms find themselves in. | :12:25. | :12:28.
The government says a re-valuation of business rates - | :12:29. | :12:30.
due to come into effect next month - will mean a drop in the amount | :12:31. | :12:34.
But not everyone will be a winner and there are calls for fundamental | :12:35. | :12:37.
The owner of this restaurant and cafe in Whitley Bay, | :12:38. | :12:41.
on Tyneside, is about to receive a welcome boost. | :12:42. | :12:44.
We were paying well over ?1000 a month for our business rates | :12:45. | :12:47.
which was actually working out more than our rent, it was a huge outlay, | :12:48. | :12:51.
It's now coming in at around ?350 a month. | :12:52. | :13:01.
Another winner is this softplay and cafe - | :13:02. | :13:03.
What I pay now is ?350 a month and what I should be paying | :13:04. | :13:08.
when the new rates come in is zero, nothing, mine should | :13:09. | :13:11.
Firms like these aren't likely to be the only ones | :13:12. | :13:23.
business rates will go down across the North East by 11% | :13:24. | :13:27.
Some firms will now pay nothing at all. | :13:28. | :13:32.
But with having no notification, and it's due to come into effect | :13:33. | :13:39.
on the first of April, we don't know where we are, | :13:40. | :13:41.
where we stand, how much extra we're going to have to pay. | :13:42. | :13:44.
And even if many firms here do well from revaluation, | :13:45. | :13:47.
there are calls to change the business rates system. | :13:48. | :13:50.
Government determines in advance how much money it wants to make out | :13:51. | :13:53.
of this tax and then divides up which businesses are going | :13:54. | :13:56.
There's no other tax that works in that same way, | :13:57. | :14:03.
and it doesn't bear any relationship to businesses' ability to pay. | :14:04. | :14:06.
Under pressure from firms losing out, the Chancellor may say more | :14:07. | :14:09.
about business rates in his budget next week. | :14:10. | :14:12.
But those who'll see bills go down are hoping the whole process | :14:13. | :14:15.
And there's more on this story on Sunday Politics - | :14:16. | :14:23.
that's on BBC One, this Sunday morning, at 11 o'clock. | :14:24. | :14:27.
Dawn's here with all the weekend sport, plus: Does it sound | :14:28. | :14:33.
We're hands on, at Teesside's first self-service bar, which opened | :14:34. | :14:38.
A fair amount of rain this weekend, cloudy and sunny spells. I'll have | :14:39. | :14:50.
the details later in the programme. A north Yorkshire pub | :14:51. | :14:57.
which was saved from closure by locals has been crowned | :14:58. | :15:02.
the best in Britain. People in Hudsdale in Richmondshire | :15:03. | :15:04.
raised ?250,000 to save the George As Danni Hewson reports, | :15:05. | :15:07.
as well as serving pints the pub also doubles as a library | :15:08. | :15:11.
and village shop. Nobody expected awards. In fact, | :15:12. | :15:21.
nine years ago just getting enough cash together to reopen the George | :15:22. | :15:25.
and Dragon was a big enough hurdle. But we open it did, becoming the | :15:26. | :15:30.
country's first community pub. Those involved admit, it's not always been | :15:31. | :15:34.
easy. You will never keep everybody happy. We've had two landlords in | :15:35. | :15:40.
that time. And the people, some people didn't like one think I don't | :15:41. | :15:43.
like another. You'll never keep everyone happy, but that's the same | :15:44. | :15:47.
with any pub. As long as we keep content, it's all right! It could so | :15:48. | :15:52.
easily have been a different story, but the community came together to | :15:53. | :15:56.
save this pub, and many of them have come here today to celebrate the | :15:57. | :16:01.
power's success. On the half of Campaign for Real Ale, I would like | :16:02. | :16:06.
to present the 2016 pub of the year award. -- on behalf. APPLAUSE | :16:07. | :16:14.
With done a tremendous job to go from something that was closed in | :16:15. | :16:22.
2008, reopened in 2010 and wins Pub Of The Year in 2016. Burdett, | :16:23. | :16:26.
couldn't be better. Over 200 people from places as far away for as | :16:27. | :16:30.
Australia own a piece of this pub. It doubles as a library and shop. | :16:31. | :16:36.
The latter is staffed by volunteers and it's fun. It's fun. One or two | :16:37. | :16:45.
of the customers, are a bit dour. He is well known and loved. As a | :16:46. | :16:49.
landlord, he has plans to keep everyone happy. We have found a | :16:50. | :16:55.
little farm in the village, actually a milking parlour for the cows. We | :16:56. | :16:59.
are hopeful that this time next year, we will have a microbrewery as | :17:00. | :17:05.
well. You could see our own beer on the bar. Phoenix from the ashes, not | :17:06. | :17:11.
a bad name for the first cake. Does look pretty good, doesn't it? | :17:12. | :17:14.
Staying with the drinking theme and for some it'll sound | :17:15. | :17:17.
like an offer that's too good to be true. | :17:18. | :17:19.
A pub that allows you to pull your own pints. | :17:20. | :17:21.
Well a new bar has opened tonight, claiming to have | :17:22. | :17:24.
It's in Stockton, it's called Thirsty Souls and it'll see | :17:25. | :17:27.
He took some persuading - but we sent Stuart Whincup along | :17:28. | :17:31.
When you're walking, it's like any new bar. It has a trendy interior, | :17:32. | :17:46.
music playing, sofas and seats. Here is how it's different: when come to | :17:47. | :17:53.
the bar, no need to queue. There is my ?5, last of the big spenders. I | :17:54. | :18:00.
got my plastic card filled up. I put it in the little hole. I was once a | :18:01. | :18:07.
very poor Barman, so here goes! Like a professional. I'm sure you move it | :18:08. | :18:13.
about. I don't think I'd get a job. One man who came up with the idea | :18:14. | :18:17.
joins me. How did this idea come about? It something other than | :18:18. | :18:21.
looking out for a couple of years. We have four venues three venues | :18:22. | :18:26.
across the road. People often experience something a bit | :18:27. | :18:29.
different, so we have come up with a self-service beer war support people | :18:30. | :18:33.
were surprised about this, they thought the outcome, no star. Tell | :18:34. | :18:42.
me about it. We have staff at the counter to take payment, staff | :18:43. | :18:45.
manning the wall, glass collectors, all drinks are monitored. Once you | :18:46. | :18:51.
had four drinks, we will monitor your drinks and reactivate your | :18:52. | :18:54.
card. It will stop people overindulging. We wish you the best | :18:55. | :18:59.
of luck. My head I don't think is very good. John? Thank you very | :19:00. | :19:03.
much, I will take yours. I will hand back to you, we will stay here for a | :19:04. | :19:08.
bit. See you later. I'm sure he will! We have it on good authority | :19:09. | :19:12.
that he used to work behind the bar at George and Dragon on Teesside... | :19:13. | :19:17.
In his slippers! Yeah, he has that look about, hasn't he? He has, say | :19:18. | :19:20.
no more. Well we normally kick off | :19:21. | :19:23.
on a Friday with our But this week we thought we'd | :19:24. | :19:26.
begin with a huge game After beating leaders Brighton | :19:27. | :19:29.
on Tuesday to regain top spot, Newcastle United travel to third | :19:30. | :19:33.
placed Huddersfield, knowing that victory would put some | :19:34. | :19:35.
clear daylight between the automatic promotion places | :19:36. | :19:37.
and the chasing pack. Until Newcastle's late comeback from | :19:38. | :19:48.
1-0 down to winning 2-1 and then leaders biting on Tuesday night, to | :19:49. | :19:52.
my's game was looking even more daunting. The way they play, a very | :19:53. | :19:58.
good team. They press aggressively, good movements of the ball when they | :19:59. | :20:01.
have it, so it's going to be a tough game. They are where they are for a | :20:02. | :20:06.
reason. A fantastic run. At the same time, so are we. We had good results | :20:07. | :20:11.
of late, and we need to make sure we go there with confidence we've | :20:12. | :20:15.
picked up from the game the other night and hopefully as I say, good | :20:16. | :20:19.
performance and three point. Much change Huddersfield may have lost | :20:20. | :20:24.
heavily a magister city despite going ahead. But they have shown | :20:25. | :20:30.
plenty of bite and consistency. -- Manchester City. The return of | :20:31. | :20:37.
Dwight Gayle after month out. If you have a couple of chances, you can | :20:38. | :20:41.
take one or two. It is important to the others, because you know that | :20:42. | :20:45.
even sometimes about playing at the best level, he can make the | :20:46. | :20:46.
difference. In the Premier League Middlesbrough | :20:47. | :20:48.
are away at Mid table Stoke City tomorrow and boss Aitor Karanka | :20:49. | :20:51.
says his side must approach every game from now until the end | :20:52. | :20:53.
of the season as if it's Boro's lack of goals is alarming | :20:54. | :20:56.
although their steadfast defence keeps them outside the relegation | :20:57. | :21:00.
zone on goal difference. Last weekend's defeat | :21:01. | :21:04.
to Crystal Palace made it nine league games without a win | :21:05. | :21:06.
and Karanka says his side must continue to believe they can get | :21:07. | :21:09.
themselves out of trouble - I think for me as a coach, | :21:10. | :21:12.
if I am the first one who goes I think they're going | :21:13. | :21:24.
to feel the same. We said were going to be | :21:25. | :21:28.
fighting to the last day. We need the three points, | :21:29. | :21:35.
and when one team is At least we have to show them | :21:36. | :21:37.
we're playing something. Middlesbrough and Sunderland | :21:38. | :21:42.
are the only clubs in the current bottom six who've kept faith | :21:43. | :21:44.
with their manager. Black Cats boss David Moyes | :21:45. | :21:47.
says his players are giving everything in the fight | :21:48. | :21:49.
against relegation ahead of Sunday's televised home game | :21:50. | :21:52.
against Manchester City. Pep Guardiola's men brushed aside | :21:53. | :21:55.
Huddersfield in their midweek cup replay to set up a quarterfinal | :21:56. | :21:59.
against Boro next weekend. However Moyes is refusing to be | :22:00. | :22:03.
daunted by City's reputation. I think the players | :22:04. | :22:08.
in some of the big games, Liverpool played well, | :22:09. | :22:11.
Tottenham played well. We've got to make sure | :22:12. | :22:20.
we do that again. It's a tough call, | :22:21. | :22:24.
but we know that we can go I think we'll probably have | :22:25. | :22:27.
to win one or two of these games in the run in, | :22:28. | :22:31.
and why not this one? In League Two it's second | :22:32. | :22:34.
versus third as Plymouth host a Carlisle side in danger | :22:35. | :22:36.
of losing their automatic And Hartlepool can move further | :22:37. | :22:38.
clear of the relegation zone with victory over sixth placed | :22:39. | :22:41.
Exeter. Commentary on Radio Cumbria | :22:42. | :22:43.
and BBC Tees respectively. Congratulations to Teessider Jordan | :22:44. | :22:48.
Nobbs who won the Women's Player The Arsenal and England midfielder | :22:49. | :22:50.
is hoping to be on the winning side tomorrow when England take | :22:51. | :22:55.
on the USA in the She Believes Cup. Despite Nobbs opening | :22:56. | :22:58.
goal against France in the first game England lost | :22:59. | :23:02.
to an injury time winner. Now, the new rugby league season | :23:03. | :23:09.
proper gets underway for our teams this weekend, | :23:10. | :23:11.
although it will be the second weekend in succession | :23:12. | :23:14.
that Newcastle Thunder and Workington Town | :23:15. | :23:15.
have faced each other. And in rugby union's | :23:16. | :23:17.
Premiership Newcastle Falcons could move into the top six, | :23:18. | :23:18.
but they'll have to beat reigning English and European | :23:19. | :23:21.
champions Saracens first. The Falcons fell short | :23:22. | :23:24.
away at their bogey team Exeter last weekend, | :23:25. | :23:26.
but if they put in the kind of performance against Saracens | :23:27. | :23:29.
that's seen them beat the likes of Northampton, Bath and Harlequins | :23:30. | :23:31.
at Kingston Park this season, they could push the champions | :23:32. | :23:34.
all the way. Newcastle wont relish the return | :23:35. | :23:36.
of Billy Vunipola to action although it's good news for England | :23:37. | :23:39.
- and it certainly They'll have some out, | :23:40. | :23:41.
which will be great if people The rest of the boys, | :23:42. | :23:47.
and all the others will be The "ruck gate" controversy | :23:48. | :23:53.
in England's six nations clash with Italy last weekend has given | :23:54. | :24:00.
the rugby world food for though - We've talked about it, | :24:01. | :24:03.
and we're got something up our sleeve in case Saracens | :24:04. | :24:07.
decide to do that and we'll In rugby league, the Falcons' sister | :24:08. | :24:11.
club Newcastle Thunder travel to Workington in their first game | :24:12. | :24:15.
of the new league season. And although Thunder narrowly | :24:16. | :24:18.
beat Town in the third round of the Challenge Cup | :24:19. | :24:20.
at Kingston Park last weekend, they know Workington will be | :24:21. | :24:23.
a different prospect away from home. We know going across to their place, | :24:24. | :24:26.
it will be a lot tougher. I mean, we played there are few | :24:27. | :24:29.
times and its hostile. Tough place to go, but I suppose | :24:30. | :24:32.
if we keep talking about making the play-offs and getting promoted | :24:33. | :24:35.
and fighting for all these nice things, we've got to go places | :24:36. | :24:38.
like that and do the tough We had a shot at a first | :24:39. | :24:41.
have the other day, and came back and pulled | :24:42. | :24:47.
away second half and one by two points, | :24:48. | :24:49.
and I imagine it's going to be We're all raring to go and really | :24:50. | :24:53.
looking forward to it. Should be a good one. Time for a | :24:54. | :25:03.
good Dutch overtime for the weather. I don't like the look of that rain! | :25:04. | :25:07.
It's not as bad as it blocks. We will see some rain at times this | :25:08. | :25:12.
weekend. It's ready with most of the north-east and Cumbria. It will be | :25:13. | :25:16.
fairly cloudy. Some outbreaks of rain, but there should be some | :25:17. | :25:20.
sunshine as well. Do this evening and overnight, unquestionably we | :25:21. | :25:23.
have the rain with us. It will be heavy at times, quite a breeze | :25:24. | :25:26.
coming in from the east, but as we progress through the night, the rain | :25:27. | :25:30.
breaks up. There will be mist and mud patches, further rain into | :25:31. | :25:35.
Cumbria by the time we get to dawn, -- murky patches. It will be a slow | :25:36. | :25:41.
start tomorrow morning, quite wept at the start of the day. Gradually | :25:42. | :25:47.
that rain will push away and by Saturday afternoon, we look a lot | :25:48. | :25:50.
better. More dry and bright with spells of sunshine. Across Cumbria | :25:51. | :25:54.
on Saturday afternoon, it will be fairly cloudy. Temperatures around | :25:55. | :25:58.
eight Celsius. For the north-east, we are more likely to see some | :25:59. | :26:03.
spells of sunshine. Temperatures around eight or 9 degrees. Not | :26:04. | :26:06.
actually feeling too bad in that sunshine. The cloud will tend to | :26:07. | :26:12.
come and go throughout the day. Through Saturday night, its great to | :26:13. | :26:15.
start with but we will see some further showers pushing into | :26:16. | :26:18.
Cumbria, eventually spreading across to the north-east as we go through | :26:19. | :26:22.
the night. It will be fairly mild, the temperature falling back to | :26:23. | :26:26.
around five Celsius. Sunday looks like another fairly mixed day. We | :26:27. | :26:30.
have showers to start with, but there will be some brighter spells | :26:31. | :26:34.
as well. The best of the brightness across the north-east, but will | :26:35. | :26:37.
become cloudy by the afternoon. We all see some showers at some point | :26:38. | :26:41.
on Sunday. Temperatures fairly on the mild side, around eight Celsius, | :26:42. | :26:48.
46 Fahrenheit. The breeze is coming from the south. That is Sunday, what | :26:49. | :26:52.
about Monday and Tuesday? Monday looks like another fairly unsubtle | :26:53. | :26:57.
day. We will see some spells of rain at times, mostly in the form of | :26:58. | :27:02.
showers. -- unsettled day. Temperatures around single figures, | :27:03. | :27:07.
it all 7 degrees. Lots of cloud and Tuesday. For Cumbria, will start on | :27:08. | :27:13.
a wet note tomorrow, but things will start to brighten up, temperatures | :27:14. | :27:16.
into double figures by the afternoon. For Sunday, some spells | :27:17. | :27:21.
of rain but we should see some sunny spells in between. Similar for the | :27:22. | :27:25.
north-east, not too bad. A wet start to the weekend, some showers on | :27:26. | :27:29.
Sunday but in between, plenty of dry and bright weather. Thank you very | :27:30. | :27:33.
much! A couple of weeks ago saying it's spring already! That's the one | :27:34. | :27:37.
for you, isn't it? Comes and goes. Have a great weekend. I will see you | :27:38. | :27:40.
on Monday. Goodbye. | :27:41. | :27:46. |
