Good evening, welcome to Friday's Look North. | :00:08. | :00:12.
We have been with the new recruits as they still themselves for a tour | :00:12. | :00:15.
of the most dangerous territory in the world. | :00:15. | :00:19.
I have spent the day with the Yorkshire soldiers on parade in | :00:19. | :00:23.
Warminster head of their deployment to Afghanistan. We will also hear | :00:23. | :00:26.
from new recruits in Catterick about their feelings following the | :00:26. | :00:29.
terrible loss of life in Afghanistan. | :00:29. | :00:35.
Off the rails, plans to use the iconic Flying Scotsman in | :00:35. | :00:39.
Yorkshire's Olympic torch celebrations are scrapped. | :00:39. | :00:44.
And we look at Yorkshire's forgotten explorer, the remarkable | :00:44. | :00:51.
story of the Whitby man who tried to the Antarctic with Shackleton. | :00:52. | :00:55.
And I will be live in Sheffield talking to three swimmers who have | :00:55. | :00:59.
already booked their place at this summer's games. Plus we look | :00:59. | :01:07.
forward to a big boxing fight. Join me for the weather. These were | :01:07. | :01:11.
the sunny skies over South Yorkshire earlier. I will have the | :01:11. | :01:21.
:01:21. | :01:25. | ||
Good evening. More than 400 soldiers from the Yorkshire | :01:25. | :01:28.
Regiment have taken part in a farewell parade as they prepare to | :01:28. | :01:32.
go to Afghanistan. They also attended a service to remember the | :01:32. | :01:36.
six soldiers who died in Afghanistan last week. Nicola Rees | :01:36. | :01:40.
has been at the battalion's headquarters in Warminster, and she | :01:40. | :01:46.
joined us now. It has been an incredibly difficult | :01:46. | :01:52.
to 10 days for people in Yorkshire. The people are still really trying | :01:52. | :01:56.
to desperately come to terms with that loss of life in Afghanistan. | :01:56. | :02:00.
Six soldiers killed by a roadside bomb in Helmand province, five of | :02:00. | :02:06.
them from this regiment. That battalion has been out on the | :02:06. | :02:10.
streets marching through the town as thousands of people turned out | :02:10. | :02:14.
to watch them and show their support, to say goodbye and to say | :02:14. | :02:19.
good luck. Many had to travel hundreds of miles to be there, so | :02:19. | :02:23.
it was in no mood for celebration, a time to feel proud about the | :02:23. | :02:27.
armed forces, but it was an event are tinged with sadness at the | :02:27. | :02:34.
forefront of everybody's minds. It is a very sad day. It is very | :02:34. | :02:39.
emotional. It is difficult when you have got kids as well, and their | :02:39. | :02:45.
step dad is going out there, and they ask questions. | :02:45. | :02:50.
Terrible. Absolutely terrible. You hear about the odd one now and then, | :02:50. | :02:57.
but when there is a group of lads like that, it is heartbreaking. | :02:57. | :03:01.
I think it is a great thing that everyone has come out to show their | :03:01. | :03:05.
support for people. It is fantastic that the whole | :03:05. | :03:08.
community and civilian community have turned out. | :03:08. | :03:13.
Good luck! Nicola, today was very moving, but | :03:14. | :03:18.
it had been planned for some time, the march through Warminster. What | :03:18. | :03:23.
a new dimension it has taken on widows fatalities? | :03:23. | :03:27.
Yes, this was a plate upon it parade, so it was planned as | :03:27. | :03:37.
several months ago. -- deployment. It was a private service, an | :03:37. | :03:40.
opportunity for families and friends and the soldiers themselves | :03:40. | :03:43.
to make an act of remembrance for those of fallen soldiers in | :03:43. | :03:48.
Afghanistan. The Last Post was sounded, and a roll of honour was | :03:49. | :03:53.
read out. It was a very private affair, but the majority of family | :03:53. | :03:59.
and friends were from Yorkshire. I have come down to watch in today | :03:59. | :04:05.
to see him off. It has been quite an emotional day anyway, I am so | :04:05. | :04:10.
nervous. He did us proud. I am so proud. | :04:10. | :04:15.
You have to not worry about it, because Odyssey with it being so | :04:15. | :04:18.
close to home, lots of people have been through it. | :04:18. | :04:22.
You have to stay focused and be strong for our lads. But that is | :04:22. | :04:28.
the main point. Our lads are going to come home safe, that is what I | :04:28. | :04:32.
have to focus on. People here have been out in force | :04:32. | :04:36.
to support the troops, but here, just like in Yorkshire, people are | :04:36. | :04:41.
still grieving. There is a mounting pile of floral tributes here at | :04:41. | :04:46.
headquarters. Daily life in the armed forces has to go on as normal. | :04:46. | :04:50.
Soldiers are getting ready to deploy, but all that time, new | :04:50. | :04:54.
recruits are signing up. I have been in Catterick where some of | :04:55. | :04:58.
these new recruits have been taking part in their infantry training. | :04:58. | :05:02.
They will be joining this buried Italian, and I have been speaking | :05:02. | :05:10.
to them about how they felt when they heard the news. | :05:10. | :05:16.
Every two weeks, 150 new recruits arrive at the victory Training | :05:16. | :05:22.
Centre in Catterick. This is their first taste of life in the military. | :05:22. | :05:26.
-- Infantry Training Centre. These recruits are five weeks into | :05:26. | :05:31.
their training. Some are just 17 years old. Depending on their | :05:31. | :05:34.
performances, they are about to be presented with their regimental | :05:34. | :05:39.
berets. Receiving the beret is a | :05:39. | :05:41.
significant rite of passage, but it is also the start of a tough | :05:41. | :05:45.
journey into the army. This is not for the faint-hearted, but there | :05:45. | :05:50.
are advantages. There was a lot of banter and it is | :05:50. | :05:54.
good fun. It is a completely different life. | :05:54. | :05:58.
It is good. Many of these young men will go on | :05:58. | :06:03.
to join the Yorkshire Regiment. Some, like 18-year-old Nathan from | :06:03. | :06:08.
Leeds, are heading to the battalion that lost five children's -- five | :06:08. | :06:12.
soldiers in Afghanistan. It is a shock, me going to a | :06:12. | :06:18.
battalion, but I think I will be ready. I am a bit scared about it, | :06:18. | :06:24.
but you signed up for it, so you know what could happen. | :06:24. | :06:28.
Nathan Patterson from Rotherham will also join up. He is having to | :06:28. | :06:33.
come to terms with the reality of a life in the army. | :06:33. | :06:37.
When I found that how many people there were, it was a shock. It does | :06:37. | :06:45.
make you more focused, but there are people who will still scared. - | :06:45. | :06:51.
- who are still scared of me going We do not know to what extent of | :06:51. | :06:55.
the lads have watched the news in the past. I am sure they know about | :06:55. | :07:00.
Brize Norton and Wootton Bassett. We have not had anyone say that | :07:00. | :07:03.
since the tragedy happened that they want to leave. | :07:03. | :07:08.
They are not yet soldiers, but they are learning to cope with death. | :07:08. | :07:11.
They will finish their ratings -- basic training a matter of months. | :07:11. | :07:16.
After that, they will join their battalions. Some could be fighting | :07:16. | :07:21.
in Afghanistan in less than a year. Herein Warminster the soldiers have | :07:21. | :07:24.
been say goodbye to their family and friends. They will be flying | :07:25. | :07:28.
out to one of the most dangerous places in the world over the next | :07:29. | :07:32.
two weeks. It is a difficult journey they have a head, had | :07:32. | :07:36.
before that they have a very difficult day on Tuesday. That is | :07:36. | :07:41.
when the bodies of the six fallen comrades will be repatriated to the | :07:41. | :07:45.
UK, to RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. | :07:45. | :07:52.
Thank you. The serious favourites. Is your's | :07:53. | :08:02.
:08:03. | :08:03. | ||
John Sentamu the next in line for De Flying Scotsman has today been | :08:03. | :08:08.
abandoned as the Olympic torch carrier. The engine has been given | :08:08. | :08:12.
a major overhaul that is running five years later. | :08:12. | :08:16.
More faults have been uncovered, as there is absolutely no chance of it | :08:16. | :08:23.
being repaired in time for that a torch. | :08:23. | :08:26.
Just when you thought the news about the Flying Scotsman could not | :08:26. | :08:31.
get worse, it has done. It is only last May that the loco that -- | :08:31. | :08:36.
locomotive was unveiled, ready for another 40 years of service. It has | :08:36. | :08:40.
not worked out that way. Within weeks, it was back in the workshop | :08:40. | :08:44.
because of problems with its chassis. Since then, the news has | :08:45. | :08:48.
gone from bad to worse. Only a couple of weeks ago, it was pulled | :08:48. | :08:52.
out of an event when it would have been reunited with other famous | :08:52. | :08:57.
locomotives like Blue Peter. Now it is losing its role as the | :08:57. | :09:02.
centrepiece of Yorkshire's Olympic torch replay. -- relay. | :09:02. | :09:06.
We have let ourselves down. There is a huge amount of emotion that | :09:07. | :09:11.
has gone into this project. The engineers are very wedded to this | :09:11. | :09:16.
project, my own personal attention to getting this right has been | :09:16. | :09:20.
significant. Not surprisingly, this latest hurdle has come as a bit of | :09:20. | :09:24.
a blow to us. What has gone wrong? Anyone who | :09:24. | :09:28.
knows about steam locomotives will tell you you cannot be sure how | :09:28. | :09:32.
long it will take until you have got it completely stripped down, a | :09:32. | :09:42.
bit like restoring an old house. But there is good news. The Flying | :09:42. | :09:45.
Scotsman's overhaul is now nearly finished, and when it is done, the | :09:46. | :09:49.
locomotive will be ready for another 40 or even 50 years of | :09:49. | :09:53.
service on the main line. I will not see all of that, but it is | :09:53. | :10:03.
:10:03. | :10:03. | ||
something to look forward to it. Not quite ready yet. | :10:03. | :10:06.
Let's have a look at some of the other news. | :10:06. | :10:13.
A Doncaster-based poll company has pleaded guilty to help as a defence | :10:13. | :10:18.
is following the death of a miner at Kellingley Colliery. Ian Cameron | :10:18. | :10:22.
was 46 when he was killed as supporting equipment fell on him in | :10:22. | :10:28.
2009. UK Coal will be sentenced after another company, Joy Mining | :10:28. | :10:33.
Machinery Ltd, has stood trial. They pleaded not guilty to offences | :10:33. | :10:37.
relating to his death. A 25-year-old man from Mexborough | :10:37. | :10:40.
has appeared in court accused of conspiring to bring down the | :10:40. | :10:45.
website of the CIA and the UK's Serious Organised Crime Agency. | :10:45. | :10:50.
Ryan Ackroyd is also charged with hacking into other systems. He made | :10:50. | :10:55.
no plea, and is next due to appear at Southwark Crown Court in May. | :10:56. | :11:00.
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, has paid tribute to the | :11:00. | :11:04.
work of the Archbishop of Canterbury following his | :11:04. | :11:08.
announcement that he is standing down in December this year. | :11:08. | :11:11.
Dr Sentamu is close friends with the Archbishop of Canterbury and | :11:11. | :11:18.
said he was very sad to hear the news. Speculation as to who may | :11:18. | :11:26.
succeed is already rife. A since Ugandan dancers celebrated the | :11:26. | :11:29.
minister at his enthronement, the Archbishop of York has cut an | :11:29. | :11:32.
unconventional figure in the Church of England. | :11:32. | :11:36.
He has been a flamboyant deputy to Dr Rowan Williams, but has always | :11:36. | :11:39.
been careful to work as a supportive partner to the | :11:39. | :11:42.
Archbishop of Canterbury. News of his departure later this year has | :11:42. | :11:47.
been greeted but sadness by Dr Sentamu, who will miss him. | :11:47. | :11:50.
Any messages for the other Archbishop? | :11:50. | :11:54.
You have read my statement. He and I have been working very closely. | :11:54. | :11:59.
He is one of my greatest, grit his companions, I greatly admire what | :11:59. | :12:06.
he has done, who hears, and everything else. The he and his | :12:06. | :12:09.
family are constantly in my prayers, like they have been. | :12:09. | :12:15.
Do you fancy his job? You can't be serious. | :12:15. | :12:18.
The question might be embarrassing, but a move to Canterbury is a | :12:18. | :12:24.
possibility. At his local pub, his supporters think he would do well. | :12:24. | :12:31.
He is fantastic. He has done so many brave things, fun things, | :12:31. | :12:35.
secular issues, fantastic. He covers the whole range of things | :12:35. | :12:40.
you would want. I could not agree more. We have | :12:40. | :12:46.
seen in -- seen him in here and he is superb. | :12:46. | :12:49.
The Archbishop of Canterbury has said his successor will need the | :12:49. | :12:55.
constitution of an ox and the skin of a rhinoceros. Good to Dr Sentamu | :12:55. | :13:05.
:13:05. | :13:06. | ||
the amount? It will be months until He is certainly a very popular. | :13:06. | :13:09.
Now, there have been claims that Yorkshire could suffer from | :13:09. | :13:13.
migraine drain of talent unless the Government cuts taxes for high | :13:13. | :13:17.
earners in the Budget. The presenter of the Sunday | :13:17. | :13:22.
Politics in our region can tell us more. Who is making these claims? | :13:22. | :13:27.
These are the views of Yorkshire's richest man. You may not have heard | :13:27. | :13:34.
of him, he is called Asim Allen, and he is worth 300 million. That | :13:34. | :13:40.
is as much as the Queen, apparently. He is influential and his friends | :13:40. | :13:44.
with Ed Miliband. He is saying that unless the Chancellor cuts the top | :13:44. | :13:50.
rate of income tax, which is 50p on the pound, more and more business | :13:50. | :13:55.
orders and entrepreneurs will lead the country. Contrast his use what | :13:55. | :13:58.
someone we're going to see now, her name is Helen Alexander and she is | :13:58. | :14:04.
a single mum from North Yorkshire. She has three children and is part | :14:04. | :14:08.
of the occupy Leeds anti-capitalist protest last year. She will join us. | :14:08. | :14:12.
She says she is struggling to survive on the minimum wage and | :14:12. | :14:15.
will have her benefits cut in April. How does she feel about her | :14:16. | :14:20.
benefits being cut when the West is there as well have their taxes cut? | :14:20. | :14:26.
Could be a heated debate, kicking off on Sunday Politics at 12:00pm. | :14:26. | :14:33.
Stay with us, before 7pm: pulling his punches, the softer side of | :14:33. | :14:36.
Kell Brook. But will the new father still | :14:36. | :14:41.
triumph in the ring? And Sheffield success, we speak to | :14:41. | :14:44.
swimmers who have already booked their place in this summer's | :14:44. | :14:54.
Olympics. If you were asked to name some | :14:54. | :14:57.
famous polar explorers, you would come up with names like Scotland | :14:57. | :15:02.
Shackleton, but what about Yorkshireman Frank Wilde? I had | :15:02. | :15:07.
never heard of him, but he was the right-hand man to Sir Ernest | :15:07. | :15:11.
Shackleton, until his name stuck from history. His remarkable story | :15:11. | :15:17.
is captured in the BBC documentary if broadcast on Sunday on BBC One. | :15:17. | :15:21.
We will speak to its presenter and Arctic expert Paul Rose any moment. | :15:21. | :15:28.
But first, who is this man? A unique polar expedition weaves | :15:28. | :15:31.
its way past the icebergs of Antarctica with an unusual cargo on | :15:32. | :15:38.
board. It is carrying the remains of one of the greats British polar | :15:38. | :15:42.
explorers. Frank Wild, from Skelton near Whitby, made five epic trips | :15:42. | :15:47.
to the Antarctic at the beginning of the last century. This includes | :15:47. | :15:51.
the ill-fated endurance expedition when a ship carrying 28 men was | :15:51. | :15:56.
stuck in the polar ice for almost one year. It was here that Frank | :15:56. | :16:01.
Wild showed his survival skills, keeping all of the stranded men | :16:01. | :16:05.
alive in desperate circumstances. Frank Wild was a seasoned Paul a | :16:05. | :16:10.
man, a guy you want us to have a range you when things got bad. | :16:10. | :16:14.
Wilde became Sir Ernest Shackleton's close companion, but | :16:14. | :16:19.
will Shackleton was immortalised, Frank's Park in this great era of | :16:19. | :16:23.
history was quietly forgotten. were led to believe he was the | :16:23. | :16:29.
forgotten hero, but I wanted to find out if that was true, and if | :16:29. | :16:35.
that was true, why had he been for one? Frank Wild died just before | :16:35. | :16:39.
the start of the Second World War, that it was believed that his ashes | :16:39. | :16:44.
had been lost. But a dog-eared piece of detective work by an G | :16:44. | :16:49.
Butler led to their discovery last year. It meant that the wild | :16:49. | :16:53.
family's wishes to be fulfilled and that Frank's remains could be taken | :16:53. | :16:58.
to the remote island of South Georgia to be buried next to his | :16:59. | :17:02.
great friend Shackleton. We honour the memory of John and Robert | :17:02. | :17:10.
Francis while. It was an act that brought to great -- to crates of | :17:10. | :17:13.
polar exploration back together, Lorraine Frank Wild to find peace | :17:13. | :17:19.
in the icy land he loved so much. Joining us now is Paul Rose, he is | :17:19. | :17:21.
the presenter of the programme, Frank Wild: Antarctica's Forgotten | :17:21. | :17:26.
Hero. He is also Base Commander of the British Antarctic Survey for | :17:26. | :17:30.
ten years. I must confess that I had not heard of Frank Wild until | :17:30. | :17:35.
now, it can be story is only been told they? Frank Wild was always a | :17:35. | :17:40.
the shadow. He was Shackleton's right-hand man, Captain Scott's | :17:40. | :17:44.
right-hand man. He was always a the shadow of these men. I am in the | :17:44. | :17:50.
Paula circuit and had been working in Antarctica since 1890, but I | :17:50. | :17:54.
only knew a little bit about francs. As soon as we touched the story, we | :17:55. | :18:00.
fell in love with that man. About how likeable he was and what he | :18:00. | :18:06.
meant to the men. We have revealed the true unsung hero. He kept his | :18:06. | :18:11.
expedition quite simply alive. With his brilliance. He did, he was a | :18:11. | :18:16.
technical genius. He could run the docks and look after the horses. He | :18:16. | :18:20.
could sail and navigate. He could look after the men. There was | :18:20. | :18:25.
something about him. He did not be everything in a masterly sense, he | :18:25. | :18:30.
did it and the men still litem. think about people going to | :18:30. | :18:34.
Antarctica with all the cat, all the specialist equipment. These | :18:34. | :18:39.
guys would not have had all of the CPS equipment. The feisty now went | :18:39. | :18:46.
to Antarctica, we would put on all of our dear. -- if I as three. All | :18:46. | :18:50.
of those years ago when de Frank Wild and his men put on all of | :18:50. | :18:55.
their kit, fur and cotton, they would have felt invincible. This | :18:55. | :18:59.
was men at their physical prime putting on equipment in which they | :18:59. | :19:02.
would have felt fantastic. What I think was sad is that he died | :19:02. | :19:08.
almost in poverty. As a father in Africa, it went horribly wrong. -- | :19:09. | :19:14.

in South Georgia next to Shackleton, which was his wish. It is a | :19:22. | :19:27.
beautiful setting. All these Norwegian Graves, but to grace | :19:27. | :19:32.

One. Let's talk sport now. Tanya is in | :19:47. | :19:50.
Sheffield where there is an exciting weekend of sport ahead. | :19:50. | :19:55.
Especially if you are a sport -- a boxing fan, but if you are at. | :19:55. | :20:00.
International Forge pool as well. They will be talking to three | :20:00. | :20:04.
swimmers who have already booked their place at the Olympics. Let's | :20:04. | :20:08.
start with the boxing, because at lunchtime, Sheffield's Kell Brook | :20:08. | :20:13.
had his way and for the War Of the Roses battle. But has a new arrival | :20:14. | :20:23.
in his life pretending to a bit of a softie? | :20:23. | :20:28.
-- has the new arrival in his life turned him into a bit of a softie. | :20:28. | :20:33.
I have a family now. We do family things. But you also see me with | :20:33. | :20:38.
the gloves on. There are two sides to Kell Brook bed. I have grown up | :20:38. | :20:44.
a lot, at it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. After I | :20:44. | :20:50.
finish the training sessions I am back home to feed and went my | :20:50. | :20:54.
daughter. It is amazing to have her here. Ahead of the big fight, there | :20:54. | :20:58.
has been a big change to the likes of Kell Brook and his partner | :20:58. | :21:02.
Lindsay. Their daughter arrived four weeks ago, at the height of | :21:02. | :21:06.
Kell Brook's training to take on Matthew Passion. We both had | :21:06. | :21:12.
pressure on us, but it is his job. -- Matthew Hutton. We have taken it | :21:12. | :21:17.
in her stride and been the best parents we can. Is it taking your | :21:17. | :21:22.
mind off his fight? If I am honest, normally before his fight I get | :21:22. | :21:27.
into a state, but it has taken my mind off at this time. I have not | :21:27. | :21:32.
thought about it as much. Today it was time for him to face the crowds | :21:32. | :21:40.
at the weekend. The hair was on the back of me neck when I walked down | :21:40. | :21:46.
the escalator. You do this and a big fight week with it coming up, | :21:46. | :21:49.
but now it is about resting and making sure we turn up on Saturday. | :21:49. | :21:55.
Will you put on a show for him? Or I will put on a show, all right. | :21:55. | :21:59.
I'll put a show on. For the next few days, kill must | :21:59. | :22:04.
focus on the fight. Good luck to kill, I am pretty | :22:04. | :22:10.
confident that he will win through. When stocks remain, with three | :22:10. | :22:13.
swimmers to after the Olympics. To the Olympics, one to the | :22:13. | :22:18.
Paralympics. Becky, let's talk to you. You could | :22:18. | :22:22.
sue place in the 200 metres freestyle. A fantastic race in a | :22:22. | :22:27.
state -- in a strong field. But you think you could win? I was always a | :22:27. | :22:31.
sure I could win, but in the time, I always thought that just to be | :22:31. | :22:37.
able to do it is a while. Just put us into the frame of how strong 200 | :22:37. | :22:42.
metre freestyle at Sonning is in this country. We have lots a big | :22:42. | :22:46.
names in this country. It is a fast field. -- 200 metre freestyle | :22:46. | :22:52.
swimming. You did your place in the Olympics, no one can ask more than | :22:52. | :22:57.
that. I beat my personal best by one second, I am very pleased. | :22:57. | :23:02.
Let's move on, used Matthews in the 200 and the 800. What was the week | :23:02. | :23:06.
like for you? It was a great experience, especially with the | :23:06. | :23:11.
home crowd out there. Being able to compete in front of them. And | :23:11. | :23:14.
knowing that there will be 50,000 more people later as well, it is | :23:14. | :23:19.
nerve-racking. He were a second behind Becky Adlington, can you | :23:19. | :23:26.
catch up? I will do my best. are both 19, it must be lovely | :23:26. | :23:31.
coming through together. It is great. Having a friend on the team | :23:31. | :23:34.
and been able to speak to her whenever I need to is amazing. | :23:35. | :23:39.
But come to James, as you are an old hand, you are going after the | :23:39. | :23:44.
third Paralympics. It was great to qualify, I have qualified before | :23:44. | :23:48.
but this will hopefully be my third. If everything goes well, it will | :23:48. | :23:54.
hopefully be a great home game. He cannot ask for more. What was the | :23:54. | :23:59.
atmosphere like? It was great, when they gave a picture it was pretty | :23:59. | :24:04.
loud. That was only 3,000 people, so when there are 15,000 people it | :24:04. | :24:09.
will be amazing. Best of luck, I am sure we will speak to all of you do | :24:09. | :24:13.
for summer. Before I go, a quick piece of football news, because | :24:13. | :24:18.
Wembley is looming for yet another of her teens. But City are aiming | :24:18. | :24:22.
for a place in the FA Trophy final in May, but first they must hold | :24:22. | :24:26.
off the challenge of Luton in the semi-final second leg. The going to | :24:26. | :24:34.
be oddly like holding a slender one-0 lead. Best of luck to them. | :24:34. | :24:39.
Thank you very much. Later on we will find out if it | :24:39. | :24:43.
will be hot this weekend. It is day three of the BBC Sport | :24:44. | :24:48.
Relief challenge, and the pedalo athletes are doing well. | :24:48. | :24:53.
Presenters Catherine had Adam port are attempting to take Grace this | :24:53. | :24:56.

I quite fancy pedalo myself. I bet it is called this week. | :25:34. | :25:40.
Isn't it downhill? Yes it will be, Isn't it downhill? Yes it will be, | :25:40. | :25:45.
I hope they have the ponchos ready. Let's look at today's photos. We | :25:45. | :25:51.
saw some sunshine. This is the daffodils on Harrogate straight. | :25:51. | :25:56.
This is a reservoir courtesy of Diane. And on to one of my favoured | :25:56. | :26:03.
parts of the coast. Please keep your photos coming in. | :26:03. | :26:06.
It will turn more unsettled through the weekend, we are looking at | :26:06. | :26:10.
showery outbreaks of rain. If you look at the pressure charge, you | :26:10. | :26:14.
can see why. The weather front is set to cross over during the | :26:14. | :26:18.
weekend. The satellite picture shows how we have had a variable | :26:18. | :26:23.
amount of cloud. We have seen it break up in some places, including | :26:23. | :26:27.
the Vale of York. Tonight, the cloud will thicken up. It will | :26:27. | :26:32.
bring outbreaks of rain. It will be mostly right -- mostly light and | :26:32. | :26:38.
patchy. Hopefully it will not drop too low tonight. No lower than five | :26:38. | :26:41.
or seven degrees. Seven will be 45 degrees Fahrenheit. | :26:41. | :26:49.
On Sunrise it will rise at quarter past six. Some said will be at | :26:49. | :26:52.
quarter past 6:00pm. They will be a lot of cloud to | :26:52. | :26:58.
begin the day. The game will die out and the cloud will thin. We | :26:58. | :27:03.
will seek clouts with some spell of sunshine. We will see clouds | :27:03. | :27:06.
developing it and through the afternoon the showers will get | :27:06. | :27:10.
going. They will merge into a longer spell of rain particularly | :27:10. | :27:15.
in the late afternoon. The piece will be from the West on north-west, | :27:15. | :27:18.
taking the edge of the temperature. It will be nine degrees along the | :27:18. | :27:22.
coast. For most of us it will be a and ten degrees. Perhaps in | :27:22. | :27:25.
Yorkshire we will see temperatures of 11 degrees. | :27:25. | :27:31. |
