A man has been found dead and a woman has been taken to hospital

with serious injuries after police were called to a house in North

Nottinghamshire. Officers found the man's body in Bircotes near

Doncaster at around 12:50 this morning. Shamir Masri reports.

Police were called to a house in the early hours of this morning after

reports of a shooting. They found the body of a 37`year`old man and a

33`year`old woman was suffering from serious injuries, described by

police as intentionally life`threatening. It is believed the

injuries were caused by a shotgun. Two children were also found in the

house, apparently unharmed and have been taken to safety. A postmortem

will be carried out to determine the cause of death of man, who is

believed to have lived at the address with the woman. Neighbours

were shocked. We rarely see police at all because there is no need.

They don't get called out very much as far as I know. I rarely see a

police car anywhere around here. This is not something you would

expect in a town like this. The area around the house remains cordoned

off tonight. Yorkshire charity shops say they're

fighting to survive as struggling families sell clothes and toys

online instead. The RSPCA in Halifax and Huddersfield has seen profits

drop by 50%, as Emma Glasbey reports.

They are trying their best to make the shop looks full but it is

difficult. This is one of the RSPCA's shops in Halifax. Staff

expect this room to be piled high with furniture at this time of year

but struggling families are keeping hold of goods for longer and selling

them online or at car`boot sales instead. It is having a massive

impact on profits. We are 50% down on last year. We have had snow, rain

and flooding and also with the current climate, it has been massive

for us. And this is why it is so important that charity shops make

money. The RSPCA in Halifax and Huddersfield is an independent

registered charity and rely on their local stores to pay for this animal

centre. They hope that the New Year will bring new donations.

It's clearly the season for sharing amongst our football teams, with no

fewer than six sides involved in draws. Not for Rotherham though `

this evening due to a broken`down train at Aldwick in South Yorkshire.

This is leading to delays of 40 minutes on the East Coast line

between Doncaster and Leeds. Northern Rail services are also

affected. Have we got away with it? It seems

so. We have seen the worst. Tomorrow is a quieter day with sunny spells

and scattered showers. There are fewer ice buyers. `` isobars.
