end of the week? No. Had Russia heading our way and wet and windy | :00:00. | 3:59:59
again. That is Welcome to the programme. Tonight, | :00:00. | :00:07.
the worst storm of the winter hits Yorkshire. The M62 is among the | :00:08. | :00:14.
roads affected as 90mph winds storm in. More snow is also on its way. | :00:15. | :00:20.
We'll have the very latest for you as commuters face a difficult | :00:21. | :00:24.
journey home. Also tonight, tractor aid. Yorkshire's farmers help | :00:25. | :00:28.
flooded farms in the south, but could floods here hit food supplies? | :00:29. | :00:34.
The growing numbers of Roma migrants in Yorkshire. How one council is | :00:35. | :00:38.
trying to help them settle. We go behind`the`scenes. What a day to | :00:39. | :00:43.
train our tandem ride. On Wild Wednesday, we hit the hills. A | :00:44. | :00:50.
stormy night ahead across Yorkshire. Blizzard conditions possible over | :00:51. | :00:53.
the Pennines. The latest coming up shortly. | :00:54. | :01:02.
Welcome to the programme. Thank you for joining us. The most severe | :01:03. | :01:06.
storm of the winter is hitting Yorkshire tonight. In the last hour, | :01:07. | :01:11.
winds of 92mph have been recorded near Sheffield. The M62 was closed | :01:12. | :01:16.
across the Top this is afternoon after a lorry was blown over. Snow | :01:17. | :01:20.
and ice have added to the problems in places. There is more of that to | :01:21. | :01:24.
come. We will go live to Tom Ingall in Sheffield for the latest there. | :01:25. | :01:29.
Charlotte Leeming is in Leeds city centre. Charlotte, how is it there? | :01:30. | :01:33.
Good evening. It's terrible. The Met Office told us these gales were | :01:34. | :01:36.
coming. My goodness have they arrived here tonight. Difficult to | :01:37. | :01:40.
turn around, but it's a difficult commute for many people in the city | :01:41. | :01:44.
centre here. Atrocious it is. I'm glad I have this bollard to help me | :01:45. | :01:49.
keep upright. The weather impacted our region this afternoon. That was | :01:50. | :01:54.
on the M62, a very exposed part of our region of course. A lorry | :01:55. | :01:58.
overturned there. That closed two lanes of the west`bound carriageway, | :01:59. | :02:03.
causing a lot of congestion. That is happening tonight as well. Just to | :02:04. | :02:09.
update you on the M62. It is is closed tonight to all high ciders in | :02:10. | :02:13.
both directions. That's between junctions 22 and 24. Let us not for | :02:14. | :02:19.
get as well as the wind we will have wintry showers and snow over the | :02:20. | :02:23.
Tops. That will be difficult tonight. Avoid that area if you can. | :02:24. | :02:28.
In another part of West Yorkshire, in bingely, this was the scene | :02:29. | :02:33.
outside the town's swimming pool. That is when a tree blew over on to | :02:34. | :02:38.
a number of cars. Miraculous no`one was hurt in that. We are bringing | :02:39. | :02:43.
you down to tonight, the traffic and travel situation on the trains, | :02:44. | :02:47.
Northern Rail are having difficulties on the railway line. | :02:48. | :02:53.
You can expect delays and cancellations. At Leeds Bradford | :02:54. | :03:00.
Airport, one flight in the last hour has had to be divert too dangerous | :03:01. | :03:06.
for it to land. We will keep you up dated tonight of course. That is the | :03:07. | :03:10.
situation here in Leeds. Let us hand you over to Tom Ingall in Sheffield. | :03:11. | :03:15.
It's a fierce evening in Sheffield tonight. The winds picked up between | :03:16. | :03:23.
3.00pm and 3.30 pm. We are getting gusts with periods of calm. When | :03:24. | :03:28.
they come they take you by surprise and grab hold of you. The highest | :03:29. | :03:38.
record wind speed is 92mph. It has blown the light off the top of the | :03:39. | :03:40.
camera. That is how surprising the gusts are. Transport problems right | :03:41. | :03:46.
across South Yorkshire. Speed restrictions, accident on the top of | :03:47. | :03:52.
the Woodhead, the exposed places. The trains suffering as well. If you | :03:53. | :03:56.
are travelling to London, trees down on the line causing delays. Services | :03:57. | :04:02.
suspended from Manchester to Liverpool because of the strong | :04:03. | :04:06.
winds. Thank you very much. The strongest winds are forecast to hit | :04:07. | :04:09.
our region around now. They are too strong for us to deploy our | :04:10. | :04:14.
satellite trucks safely. We wanted to show you just how strong the wind | :04:15. | :04:17.
are even in the city centres. We will try to do that later. Paul, how | :04:18. | :04:22.
bad is it at the moment? It's as nasty as we get. 92mph gust at High | :04:23. | :04:29.
Brad field. 92mph in the South Yorkshire Pennines, 79mph at Emily | :04:30. | :04:37.
Moor we are aren't in the peak of the gusts. We expect them to peak | :04:38. | :04:43.
from 9.00pm to midnight tonight. As we have seen, we have exceed that | :04:44. | :04:52.
and we might head towards 100mph if High Brad field has come up with | :04:53. | :04:56.
that already. Let us look at the footage from today's storm. We have | :04:57. | :05:00.
received this report from Ian White out and about this afternoon. This | :05:01. | :05:05.
lorry became the first victim of today's appalling weather. It | :05:06. | :05:09.
toppled over in high winds closing part of the busy M62 this afternoon | :05:10. | :05:16.
between junctions 22 and 23 west of Huddersfield. Elsewhere, a dusting | :05:17. | :05:21.
of snow brought picture postcard scenes, high up near Holme Moss. The | :05:22. | :05:26.
wind knead feel colder than it actually was. That wasn't putting | :05:27. | :05:31.
walkers off. We're quite used to the hardened weather and conditions in | :05:32. | :05:39.
Holm Firth. Let's enjoy it. At England's highest airport, planes | :05:40. | :05:44.
were taking off as normal, but getting a battering from the | :05:45. | :05:47.
elements. No plane spotters here today. No`one messing about in boats | :05:48. | :05:55.
at Yedon. Not the weather for ducks, too choppy. We are in Bingley, 1,000 | :05:56. | :06:02.
feet above sea level. We have encountered all sorts of conditions | :06:03. | :06:07.
here, rain, sleet, snow and now the really cold biting winds. Of course, | :06:08. | :06:13.
things are set to get worse as the evening continues. Along the road | :06:14. | :06:18.
the white rose flag was flying proudly, winds were picking up as | :06:19. | :06:22.
youngsters finished school for the day in East Morton. When I see the | :06:23. | :06:27.
weather report and I hear it will be windy we are concerned for the | :06:28. | :06:29.
safety of the children getting to and from school. Concerns like, | :06:30. | :06:36.
trees, that is the main concern. And cars. The doors, things blowing | :06:37. | :06:41.
about in the wind. We need to make sure that the children are safe. In | :06:42. | :06:45.
Leeds city centre tonight what has become a regular event. Roads around | :06:46. | :06:50.
Yorkshire's tallest building, Bridgewater Place, the scene of a | :06:51. | :06:52.
fatal accident three years ago, closed to traffic because of high | :06:53. | :06:59.
winds. Paul will be back with a full forecast later. We will report on | :07:00. | :07:03.
how flooding is hitting farming in Yorkshire. If you have pictures of | :07:04. | :07:06.
how the weather is affecting you, you know how much we value them. We | :07:07. | :07:10.
would love to see them. There are lots of ways to get in touch. Post a | :07:11. | :07:15.
comment on our Facebook page: or you can send us annel mail, our address | :07:16. | :07:22.
is: You can tweet as well. We will show them late fer we can. Later, | :07:23. | :07:27.
Massimo Cellino misses the chance to watch Leeds play as the Football | :07:28. | :07:33.
League considers his takeover bid. More news first of all on a deputy | :07:34. | :07:37.
care home manager from South Yorkshire who stole almost ?15,000 | :07:38. | :07:41.
from residents, has been jailed for two years. Denise Nichols took the | :07:42. | :07:48.
money from the bank accounts of 23 residents at the Wensley Street Care | :07:49. | :07:51.
Home in Sheffield. Police said the fraud was a "flagrant abuse of | :07:52. | :08:00.
trust." The money's been paid back by her husband. The veteran | :08:01. | :08:11.
politician Tony Benn is in hospital. Mr Ben, who is 88, was MP for | :08:12. | :08:16.
Chesterfield until 2001. He's understood to be seriously ill. He | :08:17. | :08:20.
was admitted to hospital over the weekend. The increasing number of | :08:21. | :08:24.
immigrants from Eastern Europe in parts of Yorkshire. Last year, the | :08:25. | :08:27.
former Home Secretary, David Blunkett, warned of an "explosion" | :08:28. | :08:34.
in the Page Hall area of Sheffield unless action was taken to integrate | :08:35. | :08:38.
Roma migrants. He accused the Government of "burying its head in | :08:39. | :08:44.
the sand." There's also a big Roma population in Rotherham. The council | :08:45. | :08:50.
there is trying a different approach to help `` integration. One area | :08:51. | :08:59.
where they are settling is Rotherham. 4,000 Roma now live in | :09:00. | :09:06.
Rotherham and the council has started running induction days like | :09:07. | :09:10.
this one to help with integration. If there is no rub ish, there is no | :09:11. | :09:15.
reason for the rats to come. The culture they have come from, none of | :09:16. | :09:21.
this was a concern. For example, we've seen, from research that we've | :09:22. | :09:27.
done, that fly tipping, rubbish is thrown everywhere, there's no bin | :09:28. | :09:31.
services, so this is totally new to a lot of families. This is only the | :09:32. | :09:36.
second time this type of event has been held here in Rotherham. It all | :09:37. | :09:42.
happens here at the Lifewise Centre, which is a model town built inside a | :09:43. | :09:49.
warehouse. Stop, look, listen, think before you cross the road. It's not | :09:50. | :09:53.
just the adults who are learning about life in the UK. For children, | :09:54. | :09:58.
it's basic things like how to cross the road, which must be mastered. As | :09:59. | :10:03.
well as other essentialals like fire safety. `` essentials. We are trying | :10:04. | :10:13.
to give them the basics so that they know the legalities and what ` in | :10:14. | :10:18.
each of the services. What they need to do. It's inducting them into | :10:19. | :10:25.
British life, basically. We are learning new things about recycling. | :10:26. | :10:30.
Before we put everything in the same bins. Now he knows to recycle. I was | :10:31. | :10:36.
happy when they were talking to me to don't do serious things to listen | :10:37. | :10:46.
to mum and dad. Different things like that. "It's a really good idea. | :10:47. | :10:52.
It's really helpful." In November, the former Home Secretary, David | :10:53. | :10:57.
Blunkett, warned there could be an "explosion" in the Page Hall area of | :10:58. | :11:01.
Sheffield if the Roma community there wasn't integrated. | :11:02. | :11:07.
Here in Rotherham, the council has found a new way to tackle the issue. | :11:08. | :11:11.
It seems to be working. So, is the Rotherham approach the | :11:12. | :11:22.
right one? In a moment, we will talk to Dave Brown from Migration | :11:23. | :11:24.
Yorkshire, which helps local authorities to deal with the impact | :11:25. | :11:29.
of migration, but first Robert Oxley from the TaxPayers' Alliance. It's | :11:30. | :11:34.
not 9 council job to tell people how to live their lives. B, also when it | :11:35. | :11:39.
comes to immigration and coming to this country, there has to be kind | :11:40. | :11:43.
of a basic thing that you should be able to engage with local services | :11:44. | :11:48.
without requiring extra effort and extra taxpayers money from those | :11:49. | :11:53.
councils. Dave, does rob vert a point? Should we use taxpayers money | :11:54. | :11:56.
to pay for courses to help people cross the road? Councils are right | :11:57. | :12:02.
to be spending this money on their local communities, whoever the | :12:03. | :12:04.
people are. Some of this money isn't from the taxpayer, we are drawing | :12:05. | :12:09.
down European money through the Migration Yorkshire's Roma matrix | :12:10. | :12:12.
project. We want more money from government to deal with this. There | :12:13. | :12:16.
is an economic benefit for migrants being in this country. We want it | :12:17. | :12:28.
down from local (inaudible ( has increased from zero to 3,500 in 10 | :12:29. | :12:33.
years. With these work restrictions lifted no doubt that will increase | :12:34. | :12:37.
dramatically. Are we right to have concerns about the pressure this is | :12:38. | :12:40.
going to add to our services? I don't think it will increase that | :12:41. | :12:43.
much now. We have seen quite an increase in this period of time. | :12:44. | :12:47.
It's in specific areas. There are concerns in local areas. It's in | :12:48. | :12:51.
everyone's interests we integrate people, children in particular. They | :12:52. | :12:56.
respond well to this. If we can get in children in schools learning | :12:57. | :12:59.
about what they should be doing and being good citizens that benefits | :13:00. | :13:06.
everyone. Before 7.00pm. Animal feed and bedding head from Yorkshire to | :13:07. | :13:10.
Somerset to help farms struggling with floods. And, not long to go | :13:11. | :13:16.
until our charity bike ride. Join us to find out how we are getting on. | :13:17. | :13:25.
Strike the pose, Amy. First though, back to problems caused by the | :13:26. | :13:29.
weather, I'm afraid. The floods in the south of England seem to get | :13:30. | :13:33.
more serious by the day, don't they? This is the Somerset Levels, so far | :13:34. | :13:36.
Yorkshire has escaped the worst, but some people here are affected, and | :13:37. | :13:42.
not for the first time. This was our reporter Danny Carpenter. He loves a | :13:43. | :13:47.
field, at John Dickinson's farm near Bawtry in South Yorkshire in 2007. | :13:48. | :13:51.
This was Danny at the same farm again, in 2008. He has grown a bit. | :13:52. | :13:56.
This is the farm now, with water being pumped off John's fields | :13:57. | :14:01.
again. Some farmers now fear so many fields are flooded, the food supply | :14:02. | :14:06.
may be affected. Danny's been back to meet John again. The eyes of the | :14:07. | :14:12.
nation have been fixed on the South West. The worst flooding in living | :14:13. | :14:18.
memory. This is South Yorkshire, where flooding, for farmers, has | :14:19. | :14:24.
become a fact of life. 2007 was the record year here. Since then, it | :14:25. | :14:31.
hardly seems to have stopped. The pump has been running 24/7 for week, | :14:32. | :14:36.
but the river just keeps breaking it is banks. This is grazing land for | :14:37. | :14:42.
John Dickinson's jersey cows. He keeps resowing, but the water keeps | :14:43. | :14:46.
coming back. It kills the grass and the soil it grows in. We need to get | :14:47. | :14:50.
back to a managed river system. You can't go back 300 years and let | :14:51. | :14:55.
things run naturally. There are 60 million people in this country | :14:56. | :15:00.
today, that has a big effect on the environment. These rivers need to be | :15:01. | :15:04.
managed so the river runs to where it's supposed to do, as quickly as | :15:05. | :15:09.
possible. His neighbour, Russell, is busy lambing. He also grows food | :15:10. | :15:15.
crops, when he can. The every year, he's losing land to floods and he's | :15:16. | :15:20.
worried about the long`term impact. There needs to be new money and real | :15:21. | :15:24.
investment into the infrastructure of drainage. Just to protect houses, | :15:25. | :15:29.
it seems ridiculous, those people in those houses need to eat from | :15:30. | :15:32.
somewhere. We've got to, in the future, we have to realise that and | :15:33. | :15:37.
put more value on farmland. It is a simple fact, that the most fertile | :15:38. | :15:43.
soil is found in river valleys. Soil that can't be cropped if it's | :15:44. | :15:48.
underwater. The harsh and simple maths is that more floods means less | :15:49. | :16:00.
food. It doesn't look better there than did a few years ago. Other | :16:01. | :16:06.
farmers in Yorkshire are preparing to deliver castle feed and bedding | :16:07. | :16:09.
to farms which have been hit by floods in the South West. Tractors | :16:10. | :16:14.
pulling two trailers loaded with 30 tonnes of hay and silage will be set | :16:15. | :16:18.
off from Woolley near Wakefield tomorrow to travel to Somerset. Phil | :16:19. | :16:23.
Bodmer's meet the farmers behind the idea. It's a simple gesture, | :16:24. | :16:26.
Yorkshire farmers working together to help their flooded colleagues in | :16:27. | :16:32.
Somerset. Under the steel grey skies of a rain soaked winters morning, | :16:33. | :16:37.
they were busy loading a trailer with cattle feed and bedding ahead | :16:38. | :16:43.
of a journey to Bridgewater. I felt there was just not enough being done | :16:44. | :16:49.
quite in the country. I don't grow cattle feed. I haven't got cattle | :16:50. | :16:53.
feed, I could offer them time and transport. I came up with the idea | :16:54. | :16:57.
on Saturday morning of getting my colleagues in the area and | :16:58. | :17:01.
delivering them with... Organising cattle feed and delivering it. These | :17:02. | :17:05.
farmers know the heartbreak flooding can bring. Cattle on the Somerset | :17:06. | :17:09.
Levels would usually be grazing on fields which are now underwater. I | :17:10. | :17:13.
think the first thing is to get the water off the land as quick as we | :17:14. | :17:17.
can. To make sure that those businesses have the feed for the | :17:18. | :17:24.
livestock. Come together and help to tackle this very difficult | :17:25. | :17:31.
situation. Is There is ?1,000 worth of animal feed aboard this trailer. | :17:32. | :17:36.
That may not be much in terms of it is monetary value, for farmers and | :17:37. | :17:40.
their stricken animals on the flooded Somerset Levels, this load | :17:41. | :17:47.
will be priceless. The convoy is setting off early tomorrow morning. | :17:48. | :17:51.
It will be a long, slow journey. For those at the other end though, it | :17:52. | :17:55.
may mean the difference between going under or staying afloat. Let's | :17:56. | :18:03.
have a bit of sport. If you were waiting for a final, defin tiff, | :18:04. | :18:08.
once and for all confirmation of the Leeds United takeover, wait for it. | :18:09. | :18:12.
Oggy, what can you tell us? Well done. The watchword tonight is ` | :18:13. | :18:17.
wait for it. We will have to wait a couple more weeks it seems for the | :18:18. | :18:20.
outcome of those meetings between the perspective new owners of Leeds | :18:21. | :18:25.
United led by Massimo Cellino and the Football League on the other | :18:26. | :18:27.
side of the table thechl have to rubber stamp his purchase of a | :18:28. | :18:31.
majority stake in Leeds United football club. If you are a fan of | :18:32. | :18:36.
any of our four teams in action on the field last night, including | :18:37. | :18:39.
Leeds United, it was a night to test your patience. The VIP seating area | :18:40. | :18:45.
contained a reservation for the Italian businessman, Massimo | :18:46. | :18:50.
Cellino, who is expected to go and watch the team he is planning to buy | :18:51. | :18:55.
subject to his meetings in London today with the Football League. The | :18:56. | :18:59.
seat was empty. Mr Cellino reported in sick on the night, on the field | :19:00. | :19:07.
Leeds were off colour themselves. The only goal was scored by Brighton | :19:08. | :19:13.
in the second`half of the the big changes proposed at Leeds United may | :19:14. | :19:17.
be a good thing. It's in the hands of the Football League and Mr | :19:18. | :19:20.
Cellino. What will happen, I don't know. Sooner the better, as far as | :19:21. | :19:24.
I'm concerned, everything is sorted. The mood wasn't better at | :19:25. | :19:28.
Huddersfield Town who failed to score in a 3`0 defeat by Nottingham | :19:29. | :19:35.
Forest. Forest's finishing was a class above. The home manager | :19:36. | :19:40.
described the match as "men against boys." Sheffield Wednesday lost 3`1 | :19:41. | :19:46.
at home to Wigan. Wednesday's first defeat after a run of 10 without | :19:47. | :19:51.
losing. Their biggest loss could be of their midfield player who | :19:52. | :19:57.
suffered Annele injury and could miss a serious chunk of season. | :19:58. | :20:01.
Bradford City were our own remaining hope of po a goal no. Luck, I'm | :20:02. | :20:07.
afraid, Carlisle beat them by 1`0. Leaving City just five points above | :20:08. | :20:12.
the relegation zone. In case you hadn't heard, tonight's league one | :20:13. | :20:15.
match at Bramall Lane between Sheffield United and Brentford is | :20:16. | :20:21.
off because of a waterlogged pitch. Yorkshire have signed Aaron finch. | :20:22. | :20:27.
He holds the world record for the highest 2020 international innings. | :20:28. | :20:31.
He spent a season playing for Clifton Alliance in York. He can't | :20:32. | :20:37.
wait to get back to Yorkshire in May. It's a successful and great | :20:38. | :20:41.
county. I have heard nothing but great things of it. The opportunity | :20:42. | :20:46.
to play county cricket and 2020 cricket is something I wanted to do | :20:47. | :20:51.
for a while. The time is right. I'm grateful that Yorkshire has have | :20:52. | :20:55.
given me the opportunity. 's hope the weather changes before he gets | :20:56. | :21:00.
here. To the Winter Olympics. Tomorrow morning's Ski Slopestyle | :21:01. | :21:03.
event. Is our man Woodsy going to be fit enough to compete for the medal | :21:04. | :21:08.
he's been working so hard towards? Sheffield's James Woods, to give him | :21:09. | :21:18.
his full tight, is not 100% fit. He suffered a hip injury in training | :21:19. | :21:22.
last week. He says he will give it his all even though certain | :21:23. | :21:29.
movements do hurt. It's a gnarly sport, that means tough, I think. | :21:30. | :21:36.
Qualifying starts at 6. 15 am tomorrow. The final is at 9.30 am. | :21:37. | :21:47.
Today's steepest sporting achievement is coming up and you | :21:48. | :21:54.
have my upt most admiration for even trying this on your tandem. In just | :21:55. | :22:00.
over a month's time we begin a very big challenge for Sport Relief. The | :22:01. | :22:06.
idea, not mine I must add, is to cycle the two Yorkshire stages of | :22:07. | :22:10.
this year's Tour de France on a tandem. It's around 250 miles over | :22:11. | :22:19.
eight days. What do we need? Lycra, and an idea of the hills that await | :22:20. | :22:24.
us. Something we should maybe have looked into before agreeing to the | :22:25. | :22:33.
challenge. We need to be functional, not fashionable. You want to look a | :22:34. | :22:39.
bit glam. I want nice gel shorts. Gel. Nice tights or long trousers, | :22:40. | :22:45.
that are warm. I want something that breathes. You want to wear lyrca, | :22:46. | :22:55.
don't you? Well, maybe! Look at those Bobby dazzlers. | :22:56. | :23:16.
We look exactly the same. Come on. Let's get cycling. You're not | :23:17. | :23:24.
wearing those glasses. I am. Not with me you're not. I am. Nothing | :23:25. | :23:29.
looks nicer than a Yorkshire mountain. I'll take your word for it | :23:30. | :23:33.
Harry, it's better than the view I've got. We will face plenty of | :23:34. | :23:44.
climes on routes. Kidstones is 424 meters above sea level. We hit Holme | :23:45. | :23:56.
Moss today. Help wasn't far behind. Are you going up that way? Yes. | :23:57. | :24:01.
Harry, let's jump in. Thank you so much. Jason does trike tours of | :24:02. | :24:13.
Stage 1 of the Tour de France routes. How do you think we will | :24:14. | :24:16.
cope? You have seen the physical state of Amy. You have seen me. How | :24:17. | :24:21.
will we cope with Holme Moss? You will be absolutely fine with a good | :24:22. | :24:25.
wind behind you. A wind like this? You don't want a day like today! The | :24:26. | :24:30.
intention was that is we would tandem up from the bottom and reach | :24:31. | :24:34.
Holme Moss. We are on the tandem we sort of gave it up as an idea | :24:35. | :24:38.
really. There is a fair covering ever snow up here. The wind, I've | :24:39. | :24:45.
never felt anything like it. I'm really worried. What if is it like | :24:46. | :24:49.
this in March. Won't be. It will be glorious sunshine. It will be a | :24:50. | :24:54.
doddle. I would give you a cuddle, but... I need a bit of warmth. | :24:55. | :25:02.
Desperate times, Harry? Absolutely. Major reality check. What do you | :25:03. | :25:06.
mean by "Amy's physical state"? We will be cycling the whole route in | :25:07. | :25:11.
Marge. We will let you know how to donate to Sport Relief. You did look | :25:12. | :25:18.
like a drowned rat. Three quick pictures which summarise what we | :25:19. | :25:22.
have had so far. That is a downed tree in Lothersdale. That the was | :25:23. | :25:27.
before the winds picked up to where they are now. This illustrates, this | :25:28. | :25:31.
is not good quality. Taken on a phone. It gives an idea of how wet | :25:32. | :25:35.
the land is and the water from today pouring off the land. The land is | :25:36. | :25:39.
now on a knife edge. We can do without any more rain, there is a | :25:40. | :25:43.
lot more to come. This was Holme Moss. This gives an idea of the snow | :25:44. | :25:47.
line. Right up on the tops. Blizzards to come at Holme Moss for | :25:48. | :25:51.
a time tonight. We will start with the wind speeds. HighBradfield | :25:52. | :26:00.
92mph. The winds will not peak for another two or three hours. | :26:01. | :26:05.
Dangerous conditions out there, especially across western parts of | :26:06. | :26:09.
Yorkshire. Amber warning in place. Blizzards over the top of the | :26:10. | :26:16.
Pennines for a time. That is out of the way. A better day in eastern | :26:17. | :26:20.
areas tomorrow than this feature brings more heavy rain up later on | :26:21. | :26:25.
Friday night. Look at that swirl of cloud. The strongest winds now | :26:26. | :26:29.
packing in behind the cold front which left the east coast at the | :26:30. | :26:33.
middle of this afternoon. This frequent showers now piling back in | :26:34. | :26:36.
from the west. The wind will strengthen further. The showers will | :26:37. | :26:40.
turn to snow over the tops, blizzard conditions for a time. Showers will | :26:41. | :26:44.
move northwards. After midnight the severe gales will slowly ease. | :26:45. | :26:49.
Lowest temperatures coming in at about two Celsius, 36 Fahrenheit. | :26:50. | :26:54.
The sun will rise in the morning at 7.31 am. Still windy we will have | :26:55. | :27:04.
lost the severe gales by first light. It should be mostly dry with | :27:05. | :27:07.
some sunshine. Just a hint that later the showers will become more | :27:08. | :27:12.
organised, especially to north and parts of West Yorkshire giving some | :27:13. | :27:16.
wintry showerses in places. Top temperatures around six Celsius, | :27:17. | :27:21.
that is 43 degrees Fahrenheit. Still a strong South West wind, but not | :27:22. | :27:24.
the severe gales we are going to get in the next few hours. Friday | :27:25. | :27:29.
morning a respite, more heavy rain on Friday night into Saturday. Amber | :27:30. | :27:33.
warning for severe gales in the next few hours. That is the forecast. | :27:34. | :27:40.
Check out local radio for information. Harry and Paul are back | :27:41. | :27:44.
at 10.25pm with the latest on those storms. Until then, stay warm. | :27:45. | :27:45.
Goodbye. Hello and welcome to the One Show | :27:46. | :29:03.
with Matt Baker. And Alex | :29:04. | :29:04. |
