Good evening. Young people in South Yorkshire have

been helping to clear waterways to try to reduce the risk of future

flooding. The project ` in one of the most deprived parts of Sheffield

` involves children who've been misbehaving at school.

Time to get stuck in. The first job is clearing the fly`tipping at

Hartley Brook on the Parson Cross estate, one of the most deprived

areas of Sheffield. Then comes the serious work. The vegetation get in

the way of the water and if it is not dealt with, it could cause a

flood. These boys are students at the nearby school but are all at

risk of being excluded and possibly becoming involved in crime.

It's helping us get out and it's helping other people. It keeps us

out of trouble. In lessons, I would mess about or

shout out but out here I just do as I'm told and never mess about.

Volunteers help to show the students how to maintain the waterways.

They do not often get to use hand tools. When they work at 18 together

they tend to really succeed. You find that they go home and they feel

like they have had a good day and their grades might go up at school.

If you give a little bit of care and guidance to these kids, we can make

a change. After three hours of work it is time

for a break. If they keep this up, they will be awarded with a

qualification. These boys do not want to skip this lesson. It keeps

them away from criminality and gives them new skills.

A leading children's heart charity says the delay to results from a

review into heart units in England is "harming services". The Leeds

General Infirmary is one of a number of hospitals waiting to hear whether

children's heart surgery will continue. The Children's Heart

Federation says the uncertainty has created a "worrying culture of

infighting within the service". A final decision, which was expected

later this year, has been put back to 2015.

There are seven flood warnings across Yorkshire.

This was the scene at Nayburn Lock near York this afternoon where

there's a warning in place along the River Ouse. There are also warnings

at Riverside Properties and St George's Field in York, at Linton

Lock near Beningborough, on the River Ure at Roecliffe and Aldwark

Bridge and on the Swale at Kirby Wiske.

Onto this afternoon's football: Sheffield Wednesday's FA Cup match

against Charlton was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

It was a great day for Huddersfield Town at Birmingham. Ollie Norwood

gave them an early lead with his fifth goal of the season. And on the

hour mark, Town doubled their advantage thanks to this fantastic

strike by Adam Clayton. Huddersfield held on to win 2`1 at St Andrews.

In the other game in the Championship ` the South Yorkshire

derby between Doncaster and Barnsley finished 2`2 with two goals each for

Coppinger and Proschwitz. In League One, Bradford's game at

Coventry was postponed. Chesterfield have moved three points

clear at the top of League Two. They came from behind to beat Torquay

3`1. A great result for York who beat

Plymouth 4`0. You can see all the goals from the

One at 11:45pm. At the Winter Olympics in Sochi,

Sheffield's Kristan Bromley finished eighth in the Skeleton Bob

competition. His last run of the four was by far the best ` he went

down in just under 47 seconds. It wasn't quick enough for a medal `

but Kristan seems to have enjoyed the experience.

What a fantastic experience here in Sochi! It's been amazing, the team

have been great and it's been a pleasure to be part of it. I'm just

thrilled this has been one of my top Olympics experiences.

We've had a fair few showers around today, but as we head through the

night, those will ease down. The winds will become lighter. Some

showers will linger, perhaps falling as snow. Many of us will see clear

spells which could bring a touch of frost. Temperatures down to three

degrees Celsius. A chilly start to Sunday, but we will see some lengthy

spells of sunshine. Temperatures up to seven degrees Celsius.
