Good evening. A Sheffield mother whose 10`year`old son suffered

permanent scarring to his eyes after using a laser pen is warning of the

dangers of such products. Celine Jackson bought the pen over the

internet for just a few pounds as a present for her son. Shirley Henry

reports. Ten`year`old William loves to read

that this became a struggle when a laser pen was accidentally shone

into his eyes. I could not see stuff close to me. It was like a blur. The

pen was bought over the Internet for just a few pounds. Within days,

William's site deteriorated. Doctors warned he might go blind. It was

truly awful. We were worried about the rest of his life. All the hopes

you have your children and the plans they have for themselves can all be

changed in a second. These look like ordinary pens but they include a

laser to highlight words. Experts say that can be extremely powerful

and dangerous. Their power out that sat anything between 40 to 80 times

more powerful than your British safety standard laser. Exposure can

cause retinal injury. William's site is back to normal at his mother says

the pens are too easy to buy. They should not be as easily available

and they should be more expensive. They should not be ?3 for pound.

There are plans for more controls over their sale that this won't

improve product bought outside the European Union over the Internet.

A protest has been taking place in Leeds against the Ukrainian

president, Victor Yanukovych. Earlier this week, police in Kiev

opened fire on protesters. More than 70 people died. Members of

Yorkshire's Ukrainian community have been singing the national anthem,

lighting candles and holding a minute's silence to honour the

victims of the violence. We are here today to support those who have been

protesting for three months. We want to commemorate those who have died

who have been murdered by the regime in Ukraine. It has been quite

tragic. A demonstration against cutbacks in

Doncaster which will see more than 1,000 jobs go as part of a bid to

save ?109 million took place this afternoon. Up to 30 campaigners

gathered in Askern to protest against cuts to the library,

swimming pool, leisure and day centre services. Doncaster Council

agreed to the cuts during a budget meeting on Thursday. Campaigners

fear the most vulnerable will suffer. The most vulnerable people

in Doncaster, the people in the council run care homes, the library

users, they are the people who will suffer because of these cuts.

On to football and in today's early kick`off in the Championship Leeds

drew 0`0 away at Middlesbrough. United failed to get a shot on

target all match. Luke Murphy came closest, shooting wide at the end of

the first half. On loan goalkeeper Jack Butland made his debut and kept

Leeds in the match, saving Albert Adomah's strike.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Barnsley gained a vital three points

against fellow strugglers Millwall, winning 1`0 at Oakwell. Sheffield

Wednesday beat Huddersfield Town 2`0. Doncaster went down 1`0 at

Yeovil. In League One, Bradford beat MK Dons

1`0. Rotherham won 2`1 away at Carlisle. And Sheffield United won

3`0 at home against Bristol City. Finally in League Two, high`flying

Chesterfield lost 1`0 away at Wycombe. York's match at Southend

finished goalless. And you can see all the action from

an hour or so around the Irish Sea coast but with the wind, cloud and

rain it should be mild everywhere, typically six or seven Celsius.
