Here on the late Look North: for the news where you are.

:00:00.:00:00.

Hundreds of mourners gather at York Minster to celebrate

:00:00.:00:07.

the life of seven-year-old Katie Rough.

:00:08.:00:11.

And how a project piloted in Yorkshire is helping more

:00:12.:00:14.

of those in need access mental health services.

:00:15.:00:19.

And with news of milder weather on the way,

:00:20.:00:21.

join me for that detailed, updated, live weekend forecast.

:00:22.:00:32.

Hundreds of mourners gathered in York today

:00:33.:00:35.

to celebrate the life of seven-year-old Katie Rough

:00:36.:00:38.

who was killed in the city last month.

:00:39.:00:42.

As well as a private family service, members of the public

:00:43.:00:44.

were invited to help remember her short life

:00:45.:00:47.

and a message from the family thanked people for their support.

:00:48.:00:51.

From York, Charlotte Leeming sent this report.

:00:52.:00:56.

Outside York Minster this afternoon, Katie Rough's hearse arrived

:00:57.:00:59.

were met by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu,

:01:00.:01:08.

who was leading the thanksgiving service.

:01:09.:01:11.

Katie's coffin was decorated with characters from one

:01:12.:01:14.

of the writers she loved the most, Dr Seuss.

:01:15.:01:17.

Inside the Minster's choir, the congregation joined together

:01:18.:01:20.

to sing some of her favourite hymns and her uncle, Stephen, held back

:01:21.:01:23.

tears as he paid tribute to her, describing her as a smart, fun,

:01:24.:01:28.

beautiful child who will live on forever in our hearts.

:01:29.:01:40.

Before the funeral, Katie's family released

:01:41.:01:42.

a video which shows a compilation of photographs

:01:43.:01:45.

They want people to remember her for what she was like

:01:46.:01:50.

Three days after the child died, I went and met

:01:51.:02:01.

And, of course, I've got to know them.

:02:02.:02:06.

I felt I was speaking to families that I know

:02:07.:02:09.

rather than to parishioners or churchgoers.

:02:10.:02:11.

So I really got to know them and also they gave me a lot of

:02:12.:02:15.

things about Katie, which you could understand.

:02:16.:02:18.

And I've met her five times, so there was a memory.

:02:19.:02:20.

She was found with serious neck and chest injuries on a playing

:02:21.:02:25.

field not far from her home and died later in hospital.

:02:26.:02:28.

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with her murder.

:02:29.:02:32.

Her tragic death has affected many communities across the city

:02:33.:02:36.

and hundreds of people packed into the Minster today

:02:37.:02:38.

to pay their respects to a little girl they didn't know

:02:39.:02:41.

It's moved the whole city and there's a couple of other

:02:42.:02:47.

events on later this week that we're helping with

:02:48.:02:49.

to raise money for two York charities,

:02:50.:02:52.

and we just want to remember her as a lovely

:02:53.:02:56.

little girl and leave a legacy and not remember her

:02:57.:02:58.

After the service, Katies coffin was carried out

:02:59.:03:04.

He's Got The Whole World In His Hands with the words

:03:05.:03:08.

changed to, "He's got Katie in his hands."

:03:09.:03:11.

And then, as she was slowly driven away for a private

:03:12.:03:13.

service of committal, there was spontaneous applause.

:03:14.:03:17.

This personal family tragedy has become

:03:18.:03:19.

something very public and now her parents are going

:03:20.:03:22.

to set up a lasting memorial to the daughter

:03:23.:03:24.

In Leeds, flowers continue to be left at the scene

:03:25.:03:34.

where a schoolboy was stabbed on Friday.

:03:35.:03:37.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident

:03:38.:03:42.

and a 16-year-old boy remains in custody.

:03:43.:03:45.

Meanwhile members of the community are asking people who possess

:03:46.:03:48.

dangerous weapons to hand them in as Ian White reports.

:03:49.:03:53.

This is 16-year-old Irfan Wahid,

:03:54.:03:55.

the latest teenage murder victim in Harehills.

:03:56.:03:58.

He died on Friday after receiving a single stab wound to his chest

:03:59.:04:01.

in the centre of this bustling part of Leeds.

:04:02.:04:05.

Tonight, one of his former teachers told me what he was like.

:04:06.:04:08.

He was just the happiest, smiliest boy.

:04:09.:04:10.

He was always desperate to please you.

:04:11.:04:13.

We worked so hard on his maths ability while

:04:14.:04:17.

we had him and he just achieved fantastic results when he left

:04:18.:04:20.

for high school and I just got the enormous feeling

:04:21.:04:22.

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with Irfan's murder.

:04:23.:04:29.

A 15-year-old boy was released without charge

:04:30.:04:32.

but a 16-year-old remains in custody being questioned.

:04:33.:04:35.

Since Friday, the number of floral tributes being left here

:04:36.:04:38.

They're worried about gun crime and knife crime so

:04:39.:04:44.

they have decided to do something about it, leaving this bucket here

:04:45.:04:47.

with a sign, "Stop the knife crime, simply put your weapon in here."

:04:48.:04:52.

It's just over a fortnight since another teenager,

:04:53.:04:55.

Raheem Wilks, the brother of a Leeds United footballer,

:04:56.:04:57.

And yesterday, another murder investigation was launched

:04:58.:05:02.

when a man's body was found by an ambulance crew in Harehills.

:05:03.:05:07.

People who know this area well say something needs

:05:08.:05:09.

Recently what's been going on around here,

:05:10.:05:14.

me being a parent myself and having children, it's not something

:05:15.:05:18.

Me, I usually wouldn't come across as a person who would say

:05:19.:05:27.

I am frightened, but yeah, I am frightened.

:05:28.:05:29.

My message to the community is actually that we all know

:05:30.:05:35.

that East Leeds is not perfect, Harehills isn't perfect,

:05:36.:05:38.

It is a tragedy that has happened at a young life in our community

:05:39.:05:44.

has been taken but people from the outside will say

:05:45.:05:48.

that this is a bad place, this is a bad community.

:05:49.:05:51.

Harehills is full of wonderful people.

:05:52.:05:57.

Prayers have been said at the local mosque for Irfan Wahid

:05:58.:06:00.

and councillors have called on the community to support

:06:01.:06:02.

Friends of the dead boy hope to hold a vigil on Wednesday.

:06:03.:06:12.

A brief look at some of the day's other stories.

:06:13.:06:15.

A teenager who praised the killer of MP Jo Cox has been found guilty

:06:16.:06:18.

of making a home-made pipe bomb in his bedroom in Bradford.

:06:19.:06:22.

The 17-year-old, whose room was plastered

:06:23.:06:24.

with Nazi paraphernalia, was arrested after sharing images

:06:25.:06:27.

He's been sentenced to a three-year youth rehabilitation order,

:06:28.:06:33.

which includes counselling with a de-radicalisation expert.

:06:34.:06:43.

Tesco has promised urgent action after a BBC investigation found that

:06:44.:06:49.

many advertised promotions had actually inspired. An undercover

:06:50.:06:50.

reporter was overcharged several reporter was overcharged several

:06:51.:06:54.

times in stores across Leeds. In some cases, gales were still on

:06:55.:06:58.

display almost a month after price changes had ended. Tesco says it

:06:59.:07:01.

will double check the accuracy of pricing at all its stores.

:07:02.:07:03.

A new scheme, being piloted in Yorkshire,

:07:04.:07:05.

is helping more of the Muslim community to access

:07:06.:07:07.

It's hoped that being more able to talk about faith in

:07:08.:07:11.

the therapy room will encourage more of those in need to seek help

:07:12.:07:14.

Mental health - famously, it's something we don't like

:07:15.:07:20.

talking about and in some communities, the stigma is severe.

:07:21.:07:23.

And it's not actually tackled, it's not actually addressed.

:07:24.:07:30.

She's had serious depression and to remain anonymous

:07:31.:07:34.

because she's afraid of what her friends will think.

:07:35.:07:37.

I just felt I had to constantly keep myself strong

:07:38.:07:42.

But now a new kind of treatment is being piloted

:07:43.:07:55.

that brings religion into the therapy room

:07:56.:07:58.

It's concreted it for me and I feel happy that I can

:07:59.:08:02.

live my life with my religion and I know that I have

:08:03.:08:07.

the support from within the Koran, from within Islam.

:08:08.:08:10.

In the past, faith and therapy have been kept very separate

:08:11.:08:14.

but this study proved that one can help the other,

:08:15.:08:16.

particularly in the Muslim community.

:08:17.:08:18.

A big concern though is that some therapists will feel out

:08:19.:08:21.

of their comfort zone talking about religion.

:08:22.:08:24.

People who have experienced services have often felt

:08:25.:08:26.

that they are not able to talk about that aspect of their identity

:08:27.:08:30.

and it is like a missing part of what they need to talk about.

:08:31.:08:34.

People who are Muslims see faith as a resource

:08:35.:08:36.

for well-being, as a resource for health.

:08:37.:08:43.

Only 4% of people who access the mental health service are Muslim

:08:44.:08:47.

and it's thought that there's still a reluctance

:08:48.:08:49.

I think perhaps Muslims are not recognising that there are mental

:08:50.:08:54.

health issues prevalent in our community and that is partly

:08:55.:08:56.

because some people think that when you are facing

:08:57.:08:59.

mental health issues, you are being possessed by a third party

:09:00.:09:01.

and that can have deeper consequences because that means

:09:02.:09:04.

and if you have family around you,

:09:05.:09:09.

In Islam, all situations are tested and we should not assume

:09:10.:09:14.

that difficulties that we face in life are punishments...

:09:15.:09:19.

It's these words, putting the Koran at the heart of

:09:20.:09:22.

Samia's treatment that have helped her feel better.

:09:23.:09:24.

It is hoped this could be a blueprint to help people

:09:25.:09:28.

Well, that's it from me. You up-to-date with the news this

:09:29.:09:43.

evening. The breakfast broadcasts will be at 6:25am tomorrow morning.

:09:44.:09:46.

I will leave you with pole and the weather.

:09:47.:09:50.

Double-figure temperatures in the second half of this week. For cloud

:09:51.:09:56.

afresh tomorrow, otherwise dry with some hazy sunshine. Watch this

:09:57.:09:59.

weather sequence them. Two things to note. One or two week weather fronts

:10:00.:10:04.

coming through mid week. I surpass winning right round the South West.

:10:05.:10:08.

That is a milder direction. Ten or 11 degrees likely on Thursday and

:10:09.:10:13.

Friday. We have a lot of low clouds across the Pennines at the moment.

:10:14.:10:18.

Some in coastal areas in the middle. In the middle slice, it is clear and

:10:19.:10:24.

in shelter from the breeze, there could be ground frosts. Tomorrow, a

:10:25.:10:28.

grey start in places. Low cloud breaking up reviewing some sunshine.

:10:29.:10:33.

7 degrees the high tomorrow afternoon, 45 in Fahrenheit. Still

:10:34.:10:37.

keen East or Southeast wind. Into Tuesday evening and Tuesday night, a

:10:38.:10:41.

week weather front will bring patchy rain from the South West and then we

:10:42.:10:44.

will see extensive low cloud redeveloping first light, Wednesday

:10:45.:10:49.

morning, it is quite great with a bitter drizzle in places. Wednesday

:10:50.:10:53.

will be fairly overcast. Brightness in places and at the same time

:10:54.:10:56.

patchy rain can't be ruled out. That patchy rain into Wednesday night and

:10:57.:11:02.

then Thursday and Friday, to make most looking days. Try and write

:11:03.:11:04.

with some sunshine. The at the weekend it will be mild.

:11:05.:11:06.

Largely dry, perhaps

:11:07.:11:07.
