I had just given up on everything by then and taken an overdose. | :00:00. | :00:24.
Terri-Anne was only 12 when the cyber bullying started. | :00:25. | :00:26.
Also tonight: From soul to Shakespeare, singer-songwriter | :00:27. | :00:28.
Laura Mvula on her new role with the RSC. | :00:29. | :00:32.
This was a buzz to bring jobs and regeneration, but 16 years and Tesco | :00:33. | :00:36.
say no and locals are angry. Also tonight: From soul | :00:37. | :00:42.
to Shakespeare, singer-songwriter Laura Mvula on her new role | :00:43. | :00:43.
with the RSC. I never imagined -- imagined I would | :00:44. | :00:56.
be able to do this with the RSC. So as corny as it sounds, it is a dream | :00:57. | :00:59.
for me. Taxi for Rabbit - the new cab | :01:00. | :01:02.

"Don't feel pressured by anyone into texting pictures of yourself." | :01:24. | :01:30.
That's the message from one young woman who tried to take her own life | :01:31. | :01:33.
after personal photos were shared online. | :01:34. | :01:36.
On the day the Government announced compulsory sex education | :01:37. | :01:39.
in all of England's classrooms with a focus on the dangers | :01:40. | :01:41.
of online relationships, we have a cautionary tale. | :01:42. | :01:45.
Terri-Anne Fell took an overdose after being bullied into taking | :01:46. | :01:49.
naked pictures of herself, which were then shared. | :01:50. | :01:51.
She now takes her message about online safety into schools. | :01:52. | :01:55.
The cyber bullying started when she was just 12. | :01:56. | :01:58.
Here's our special correspondent, Peter Wilson. | :01:59. | :02:03.
And what do you guys know about cyber bullying? | :02:04. | :02:05.
Terri-Anne Fell talks to these ten-year-olds at this | :02:06. | :02:07.
But for her, online abuse and bullying is | :02:08. | :02:11.
At 12, she was meeting men in Internet chat rooms. | :02:12. | :02:18.
By 15, she was sending nude photos of herself to | :02:19. | :02:20.
He ended up showing all of his friends and when | :02:21. | :02:31.
one of them told me in the middle of an argument, | :02:32. | :02:34.
I had just given up on | :02:35. | :02:36.
It doesn't seem a lot, but it was 15 paracetamol. | :02:37. | :02:43.
Nude or sexual texting has become such an | :02:44. | :02:44.
increasing problem, that the police are also taking to the classrooms. | :02:45. | :02:47.
A leading charity says that more than | :02:48. | :02:49.
10% of teenage girls aged 12 to 14 have sent or | :02:50. | :02:54.
Do not feel pressured by anyone, whether it is your friends, a | :02:55. | :03:03.

because it can be more damaging than you think and it will | :03:06. | :03:08.
Children's charities like the NSPCC said | :03:09. | :03:12.

And thankfully, we actually managed to | :03:40. | :03:42.
get them out of the cars, because it was outside school | :03:43. | :03:44.
We find children have been exploited sexually where | :03:45. | :03:49.
they have been asked to take photos of themselves. | :03:50. | :03:51.

None of the pupils at Chilcott primary school | :03:54. | :03:56.

If you ever get some nasty text messages, | :04:03. | :04:04.
then you should always go and tell a responsible adult. | :04:05. | :04:09.
You give one piece of information away, | :04:10. | :04:10.
that can give lots of different pieces of information, so it will | :04:11. | :04:13.
make it easier for the person who sees that information to track you. | :04:14. | :04:19.

The supermarket giant Tesco has pulled out of a scheme which locals | :04:38. | :04:49.
had hoped would create jobs and boost the local economy. | :04:50. | :04:51.
Plans for a superstore in Stirchley in Birmingham were first drawn | :04:52. | :04:53.
But today, Tesco has told local people they've reviewed the project | :04:54. | :04:57.
taken the difficult decision to withdraw from it. | :04:58. | :04:59.
Not deprived, but not fluent either. In the South Birmingham suburb of | :05:00. | :05:18.
Stirchley, a huge hole lurks the landscape. Locals have spent years | :05:19. | :05:23.
waiting for Tesco to build a superstore here, but out of the | :05:24. | :05:26.
blue, they have now changed their minds. I am furious. I have worked | :05:27. | :05:31.
with them for 15 years to develop this project. It was a massive | :05:32. | :05:35.
regeneration project here is going to be an anchor site which was going | :05:36. | :05:38.
to kick-start the regeneration of Stirchley, but now it will not | :05:39. | :05:43.
happen, jobs will not be created. Just before Christmas, council | :05:44. | :05:48.
planners approved a new store on a site nearby which is a gym and | :05:49. | :05:51.
bowling alley will be demolished. The MP for the area that for Tesco, | :05:52. | :05:58.
this was the straw. I'm not thrilled at all. I accept it is a commercial | :05:59. | :06:02.
decision and we know we are going through a tough period, and | :06:03. | :06:06.
obviously, I does in a commercial decision to build a Lidl was helped | :06:07. | :06:09.
by the decision of the Council of the other week to have another | :06:10. | :06:13.
supermarket within a mile down the road. Not everyone sees Tesco as | :06:14. | :06:17.
saviours though. This bicycle shop is one of several collectives on the | :06:18. | :06:23.
high Street, part of a move toward smaller, independent shops. What | :06:24. | :06:27.
we've seen in Stirchley recently is lots of new businesses showing an | :06:28. | :06:31.
interest and the ones that put the interests of the community first, so | :06:32. | :06:34.
looking and interacting with what people want on building the business | :06:35. | :06:38.
is up in a way that is beneficial for the community. Whatever comes | :06:39. | :06:46.
next, locals say it is time they were listened to. There's an | :06:47. | :06:49.
opportunity now for the local community to discuss what they would | :06:50. | :06:53.
like on the site and they can get more involved so we don't have | :06:54. | :06:57.
another 17 years of dereliction. Tesco have already put the land of | :06:58. | :07:00.
the markets think there are big Company positive part in the area's | :07:01. | :07:02.
future. The phrase I keep hearing is mixed | :07:03. | :07:16.
use. So not just housing, not just businesses, but a mixture of the | :07:17. | :07:20.
two. This is Mary Locke who has lived here for over 40 years and is | :07:21. | :07:23.
a city councillor. I know you are disappointed tonight along with the | :07:24. | :07:28.
locals, but you -- can you offer them the hope that something | :07:29. | :07:34.
positive will come out of this? I feel that the site should rise from | :07:35. | :07:39.
the ashes and the residents should be involved in what goes on here. | :07:40. | :07:44.
Because they are very angry. I am angry, too, because it is a waste of | :07:45. | :07:50.
time. You have invested in this area and have the pub next to what you | :07:51. | :07:54.
thought was a catalyst for regeneration. You must be gutted? | :07:55. | :08:01.
Yes, it's a step backwards, but let's make sure that their loss is | :08:02. | :08:06.
our gain. Let's get the community, businesses, residents, politicians, | :08:07. | :08:09.
all together and make sure we have a stake in this site. Will we still be | :08:10. | :08:16.
looking at a pile of rubble in five years? No, we will not. I can | :08:17. | :08:22.
guarantee that. I'm hopeful that we will see homes, businesses and the | :08:23. | :08:28.
like here. Thank you both. Tesco could not give us a precise reason | :08:29. | :08:32.
why they have done this. But they did say this was a decision they did | :08:33. | :08:36.
not take lightly and they also say they realise local people will be | :08:37. | :08:38.
disappointed as a consequence. A man has died after being | :08:39. | :08:42.
assaulted in Coventry city 68-year-old Patrick Redmond suffered | :08:43. | :08:47.
a serious head injury, after being punched | :08:48. | :08:51.
at Riley's Snooker hall. A 37-year-old man has been arrested | :08:52. | :08:54.
on suspicion of murder. The family of a Sedgley man whose GP | :08:55. | :08:58.
surgery failed to tell him about test results | :08:59. | :09:01.
which showed an abnormal growth on his bowel, | :09:02. | :09:03.

of falling debris during West Midlands Police have | :09:36. | :09:38.

that's roughly 140 women every week, and yet delays in diagnosing | :09:55. | :10:03.
the disease are not uncommon. Late detection makes treatment | :10:04. | :10:07.
more difficult and five years from diagnosis, | :10:08. | :10:10.
survival rates are just 46%. In a moment we'll be | :10:11. | :10:15.

on one woman's battle It is it like your life suddenly | :10:22. | :10:38.
falls away from you. Suddenly you hear the word cancer and you thing, | :10:39. | :10:43.
I am dead. And that is all I thought at the time. | :10:44. | :10:45.
Lynn Hill, is 52 and was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2012. | :10:46. | :10:48.
A former RAF officer who worked as a postie, | :10:49. | :10:51.
she knew something was wrong, but initially doctors told her | :10:52. | :10:53.
her symptoms were down to Irritable Bowel Syndrome. | :10:54. | :10:55.
Getting the right diagnosis took over | :10:56. | :10:57.
by which time it was too late to operate. | :10:58. | :11:07.
When they did the final exam, which was done after A, they found 14 by | :11:08. | :11:16.
16 centimetres tumour on my right ovary. Which I call a pineapple, | :11:17. | :11:23.
that's probably the best idea to give people a size of it. | :11:24. | :11:24.
Lynn has just completed her third round of chemotherapy. | :11:25. | :11:26.
She says telling her son her cancer is incurable was the hardest part. | :11:27. | :11:33.
You want to protect them at all costs and to tell him, I saw an | :11:34. | :11:40.
eight-year-old child have the colour drain out of his face and you got to | :11:41. | :11:46.
explain, I am not going to die, even though I've got life limiting, you | :11:47. | :11:50.
got to tell him, I am going to be here and put a positive spin on | :11:51. | :11:53.
whatever it is that is going through your own head at the time. | :11:54. | :11:54.
Let down by the system, Lynn says more rigorous testing | :11:55. | :11:57.
is vital, but she's determined to use the time she has left | :11:58. | :12:00.
My theory is, I've got at least an idea of what I have come in, and I | :12:01. | :12:13.
can do whatever I want. Whereas most people go, oh, I will do it next | :12:14. | :12:18.
year. Do it tomorrow. Or icon be bothered. I just think, get on, do | :12:19. | :12:20.
it. That was Lynn Hill, speaking | :12:21. | :12:21.
to Elizabeth Glinka. I'm joined now by Janos Balega, | :12:22. | :12:23.
an Ovarian cancer specialist It took over two years | :12:24. | :12:25.
for Lynn to be diagnosed. It is a heartbreaking story and | :12:26. | :12:40.
unfortunately, a very common scenario. Symptoms of ovarian cancer | :12:41. | :12:48.
are quite... Anyone can have these symptoms any day of the week. Women | :12:49. | :12:55.
in particularly are not very aware of the symptoms and the potential | :12:56. | :12:56.
link to ovarian cancer. Is it a lack of awareness | :12:57. | :12:57.
among women - or GPs? I wouldn't blame the GPs. One GP | :12:58. | :13:14.
will see one of ovarian and cancer patient every five years. The | :13:15. | :13:18.
symptoms are very, very difficult to identify. Despite that, we are aware | :13:19. | :13:24.
that not all GPs are aware of the guidelines to identify these | :13:25. | :13:26.
symptoms and the potential link to ovarian cancer. | :13:27. | :13:34.
here in the Midlands compared with the rest | :13:35. | :13:38.
We have a particularly good outcome and Birmingham is in the lead for a | :13:39. | :13:48.
varying cancer research and identification of cancer patients, | :13:49. | :13:52.
in fact, Birmingham has the best outcome in the UK. We are not aware | :13:53. | :13:55.
of the reasons why this is happening. Potentially, the | :13:56. | :14:00.
dedicated teams of surgeons and oncologists and specialists and the | :14:01. | :14:09.
attitude of pushing boundaries is what makes the change. That is good | :14:10. | :14:14.
news then, so let us tell them what they should be looking for. What are | :14:15. | :14:19.
the main symptoms? If a woman is over 40 or particularly over 50 and | :14:20. | :14:28.
notices a recurring bloating or tightness after small meals, if they | :14:29. | :14:39.
change their bowel habits, they lose weight or their stomach is swollen, | :14:40. | :14:42.
I would strongly recommend that women to visit their GP. Good | :14:43. | :14:44.
advice, thank you. A scuplture's been unveiled today | :14:45. | :14:48.

on the first of January. But Aston Villa waited | :15:18. | :15:28.
until the last week in February. Until Saturday, they were still | :15:29. | :15:32.
waiting for the first win in 2017. But now, they've won | :15:33. | :15:36.
twice in four days. Shrewsbury Town and Cheltenham | :15:37. | :15:38.
also had a good night. But Coventry City lost | :15:39. | :15:41.

club, Bristol City. And then he turned provider to set | :15:59. | :16:00.

who scored first through Louis Dodds but found themselves trailing 2-1 | :16:08. | :16:12.
at half-time, against Charlton. Soon after the break, | :16:13. | :16:18.

later, Shaun Whalley put it was Dodds double strike that | :16:21. | :16:22.
decided this ding-dong duel, to lift his team five points clear | :16:23. | :16:30.
of the relegation zone. Coventry will and the opponents | :16:31. | :16:50.

director, Gurinder Chadha certainly Best known for Bend it like Beckham, | :17:03. | :17:05.
her latest film turns back the pages of history to 1947 | :17:06. | :17:09.
and the partition of India. The director's called | :17:10. | :17:12.
on the talents of Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson | :17:13. | :17:14.
for Viceroy's House, Gurinder's been talking | :17:15. | :17:15.
to Trish Adudu. Viceroy's House, billed as a big, | :17:16. | :17:26.
sweeping epic, depicts the end of British | :17:27. | :17:35.
colonial rule in India. I wanted to make Viceroy's House, | :17:36. | :17:40.
because it was a very important part of our joint history | :17:41. | :17:42.
as British people, Indian people, Pakistani people, and it has | :17:43. | :17:46.
great lessons for today. Set in 1947 when the last | :17:47. | :17:51.
Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten, played | :17:52. | :17:53.
here by Hugh Bonneville, partitioned India | :17:54. | :17:57.
to create Pakistan. A decision which resulted | :17:58. | :18:01.
in hundreds of thousands of I grew up with the idea | :18:02. | :18:03.
that in 1947, the British sent Lord Mountbatten out | :18:04. | :18:09.
to India to hand India back. each other, he had no choice | :18:10. | :18:12.
but to divide the country But I found some | :18:13. | :18:18.
top-secret documents in the British library and they tell | :18:19. | :18:23.
a very different story. But it is this a story | :18:24. | :18:26.
that bought Chadha Hopefully, I'm going to see | :18:27. | :18:28.
you smiling on your But when you come | :18:29. | :18:33.
back, I want to see As a director, Gurinder | :18:34. | :18:38.
Chadha got worldwide recognition 15 years ago | :18:39. | :18:44.
with Bend It Like Beckham. Back in the 1980s, | :18:45. | :18:51.
Gurinder Chadha worked here at BBC WM as a travel presenter | :18:52. | :18:54.
and she feels Birmingham is travelling in the right direction | :18:55. | :18:57.
when it comes I think that Birmingham, | :18:58. | :18:59.
as a city, should be really proud of in the way | :19:00. | :19:03.
it conducts its community politics, So, are we going to see | :19:04. | :19:09.
you directing a film here If someone writes me | :19:10. | :19:22.
a cracking script set in the Midlands, I would | :19:23. | :19:26.
jump at the chance. Your idea could be | :19:27. | :19:29.
coming to Soul and Shakespeare | :19:30. | :19:32.
are not obvious bedfellows, but Birmingham singer songwriter, | :19:33. | :19:39.
Laura Mvula, is fulfilling She's writing the score | :19:40. | :19:42.
for Antony and Cleopatra, which is being staged | :19:43. | :19:45.
by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Joan Cummins went to see how | :19:46. | :19:48.
the composer's work is unfolding. The tragic love story of Antony and | :19:49. | :20:05.
Cleopatra has entertained audiences for decades. Now, Laura Mvula has | :20:06. | :20:08.
been approached to compose the score for a new version. I didn't know | :20:09. | :20:16.
whether they want to act or to sing a Song or what. And they said, no, | :20:17. | :20:21.
you are to write all of the music for the play. Trained originally at | :20:22. | :20:27.
the Birmingham conservator, Laura entered the charts with her own | :20:28. | :20:28.
unique singing style. But once asked to write the music | :20:29. | :20:41.
for the RSC, she took just a fortnight accompany the arrangement | :20:42. | :20:46.
and fulfil a lifelong dream. I'm always looking for different ways in | :20:47. | :20:49.
which I can express myself and I never imagined I would be able to do | :20:50. | :20:57.
this with the RSC. So as corny as it sounds, it is a dream for me. Every | :20:58. | :21:04.
production at the RSC has a new musical score created for it. And | :21:05. | :21:11.
today, the composer put the band through its paces in a rehearsal | :21:12. | :21:16.
room in Stratford. To have someone like Laura, and write her music, | :21:17. | :21:22.
which very much as her signature on it, she's interpreting it in her own | :21:23. | :21:25.
way as well produced producing this music which is another fabulous | :21:26. | :21:34.
score for that play. She is asking us to try different things and it is | :21:35. | :21:37.
great to be part of that process, to see what she is thinking and the | :21:38. | :21:40.
kinds of sounds that she once had to be able to help recreate that. Is at | :21:41. | :21:45.
the Birmingham the singer been tempted to enter the world of acting | :21:46. | :21:49.
after her Shakespearean experience? No. You do not want to see me on the | :21:50. | :21:56.
stage. It would just be ruined. People would throw stuff! They would | :21:57. | :22:03.
say, just do the music! Never say never, Laura! If you want to see | :22:04. | :22:06.
more of that interview, it is on our Midlands Today Facebook | :22:07. | :22:07.
page. Getting a taxi is usually pretty | :22:08. | :22:11.
straightforward for most of us, but it can be a bit trickier | :22:12. | :22:13.
if you have for paws. So a woman from Stoke | :22:14. | :22:20.
on Trent has set up Jamie Agar says she got the idea | :22:21. | :22:23.
after hearing how people were struggling to find cabbies | :22:24. | :22:27.
who'd agree to take their animals. Buster is on a journey through | :22:28. | :22:30.
the streets of Stoke-on-Trent. Buster and his owner Zoe | :22:31. | :22:32.
are being driven there in style, People are telling me, it is | :22:33. | :22:47.
brilliant that somebody is actually doing this. | :22:48. | :22:49.
Jamie set up her pet transport service after learning | :22:50. | :22:52.
on social media that many owners were having difficulties. | :22:53. | :22:54.
Taxi drivers were sometimes refusing to take the animals | :22:55. | :22:56.
With the taxi drivers, they wouldn't take Buster | :22:57. | :23:01.
If somebody has a pet pig, I'm not insured to take that! Be domestic | :23:02. | :23:18.
pets, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, I'm insured today | :23:19. | :23:20.
call of those. Jamie says she's even | :23:21. | :23:23.
prepared to transport pets long distance to holiday | :23:24. | :23:24.
destinations, with or The law says unless they have an | :23:25. | :23:37.
exemption certificate, dry taxi drivers mistake I guide dog. But in | :23:38. | :23:41.
ordinary pets, is up to the driver whether they take the animal not. | :23:42. | :23:50.
Owner Lisa is also bringing along her dog Yogi, too - | :23:51. | :23:56.
So far the service has attracted a dozen regular clients | :23:57. | :24:01.
Jamie says if demand increases, she might launch a fleet of vehicles | :24:02. | :24:06.
Let's find out what the new month has to offer. | :24:07. | :24:12.
How is the forecast? Is the start of a new month and the start of the | :24:13. | :24:30.
meteorological spring. Time is marching on. But the least the first | :24:31. | :24:37.
day of spring for them offered a splash of colour. It was quite | :24:38. | :24:40.
pleasant although chilly. We have plenty of blue sky and sunshine, | :24:41. | :24:45.
though it clouded over from the south. Largely dry but temperatures | :24:46. | :24:50.
were consistent. Highs of seven Celsius in the north to nine Celsius | :24:51. | :24:54.
in the South. The frontal system producing the cloud is now producing | :24:55. | :25:00.
rain and it is draped across us at the moment and look at the squeeze | :25:01. | :25:04.
on those isobars. There will be gusty winds through the evening and | :25:05. | :25:09.
overnight. Rayner, some heavy in places, but easing off across the | :25:10. | :25:13.
south of the region in the early hours. We keep it in the north | :25:14. | :25:16.
through much of the night, and across the hilltops, will produce | :25:17. | :25:21.
snow, too. A sly covering in the morning tomorrow. Temperatures as a | :25:22. | :25:25.
result of the strong winds will stay above freezing, between 2-4 C. A | :25:26. | :25:32.
chilly start tomorrow. A ridge of high pressure building which will | :25:33. | :25:34.
kill off the rain in the North quickly. We could have a wintry mix | :25:35. | :25:40.
in that rain in the morning. That will die away by the afternoon and | :25:41. | :25:44.
we have pleasant spells of sunshine once again. This dry weather stays | :25:45. | :25:47.
with us throughout the day and temperatures rise to between 8-10 | :25:48. | :25:53.
sources. It is quite pleasant and we have highs into double figures here | :25:54. | :25:55.
in the south of the region and the winds will ease off by that stage. | :25:56. | :26:01.
It is a bit blustery across northern parts, more particularly. Gusts of | :26:02. | :26:05.
40 mph will not be as strong as tonight. Heading into tomorrow night | :26:06. | :26:10.
at -- and through to Friday, high-pressure pulls away and it will | :26:11. | :26:13.
be replaced by low pressure moving from the south-west and brings a | :26:14. | :26:18.
more active band of rain with quite a few dark colours in there. It will | :26:19. | :26:21.
be quite heavy at times and we will see that taking effect through the | :26:22. | :26:25.
early hours of tomorrow evening and to Friday morning. A wet start to | :26:26. | :26:28.
Friday. Thank you! On tomorrow's programme, | :26:29. | :26:31.
we'll be following the progress of a Birmingham school "dinner man" | :26:32. | :26:33.
who's reached the final Jose Davies Kochakkadan | :26:34. | :26:35.
from Marston Green will be competing against nine other chefs | :26:36. | :26:39.
for the title. Jose plans to create | :26:40. | :26:41.
an Indian-inspired main suitable for an 11 year | :26:42. | :26:42.
old and costing just ?1.30. I think my political beliefs are | :26:43. | :27:05.
really quite straightforward. I believe that our country needs to | :27:06. | :27:08.
work for everyone. Not just for the rich, | :27:09. | :27:11.
not just for the privileged, not just for those who know | :27:12. | :27:14.
the right people or who've got the loudest voices, but a country | :27:15. | :27:16.
that really works for everyone, has the opportunity to be | :27:17. | :27:20.
who they want to be. In order to make sure that the | :27:21. | :27:25.
country works for everyone, Standing up for the vulnerable, | :27:26. | :27:27.
for the voiceless, against those who feel that they're | :27:28. | :27:32.
strong and powerful. If you're doing the right thing, | :27:33. | :27:36.
then you must do that however difficult it is, even if there seems | :27:37. | :27:40.
to be an easier path to take. | :27:41. | :27:44. |
