Good evening. Welcome to a special edition of NorthWest Tonight. I'm | :00:10. | :00:14.
here at the Olympic stadium in London to find out just what's in | :00:14. | :00:18.
it for us. And Happy Campers - I'm in one of the 73 Olympic training | :00:18. | :00:24.
camps all around the region. Join me to size up just who is in town. | :00:24. | :00:34.
:00:34. | :00:35. | ||
Meet Junior! Come on, I can take it! And I'm Ranvir Singh in | :00:35. | :00:38.
Manchester. The other headlines: Arrested on suspicion of murder - | :00:38. | :00:41.
the 72 year-old shopkeeper in hospital after a robber's stabbed | :00:41. | :00:44.
to death. And tell us the truth - the mother of a Hillsborough victim | :00:45. | :00:54.
:00:55. | :00:56. | ||
welcomes the release of secret government papers. It's just 366 | :00:56. | :00:59.
days until the opening ceremony will get underway in that stadium | :00:59. | :01:02.
over there and the athletes from all over the world congregates for | :01:02. | :01:12.
what really is one of the greatest shows on earth. But the Olympics | :01:12. | :01:15.
aren't just about sport - and according to the organisers down | :01:15. | :01:19.
here today - they aren't just for the people of London or the South | :01:19. | :01:23.
East. They say that the whole country will benefit and tonight we | :01:23. | :01:27.
are attempting to show you how. Come back to me shortly for more | :01:27. | :01:36.
but first back to Ranvir in Manchester. First tonight: a 72 | :01:36. | :01:39.
year-old man remains under arrest tonight following a fatal stabbing | :01:39. | :01:41.
at a florist's in Greater Manchester. Cecil Coley is | :01:41. | :01:45.
understood to be the shopkeeper. A group of men were apparently trying | :01:45. | :01:49.
to rob the shop last night. One of them was stabbed to death. Mr Coley | :01:49. | :01:53.
was also hurt and taken to hospital, where he was put under arrest. Our | :01:53. | :01:56.
Chief Reporter, Dave Guest, has been following developments in Old | :01:56. | :01:58.
Trafford. Sunflowers reflect bright summer sunshine, giving an | :01:58. | :02:01.
impression of normality this suburban street. But today was far | :02:01. | :02:04.
from normal here. A man was stabbed last night during a disturbance | :02:04. | :02:11.
inside the local florist shop. He died outside in the street. I saw | :02:11. | :02:15.
one guy shouting on the phone and a guy on the floor with people | :02:15. | :02:21.
crowding round, so I called an ambulance and perform CPR. What | :02:21. | :02:26.
state was he in? He was dead. year-old was also hurt during the | :02:26. | :02:29.
scuffle. He was named locally as Cecil Coley, the shopkeeper. | :02:29. | :02:36.
Relatives were left bewildered by what happened. He's a good man. He | :02:36. | :02:41.
is always helping people, he would do what he can for people like he | :02:41. | :02:46.
did for me and my family. It More bewildering for them was the fact | :02:46. | :02:49.
that, while in hospital, Mr Coley was arrested on suspicion of murder. | :02:49. | :02:54.
The man was arrested as a result of what officers found at the scene | :02:54. | :02:58.
and what has been suggested from the investigation, which will be | :02:58. | :03:03.
ongoing. Can you tell us anything about the man who died? Not at this | :03:03. | :03:09.
time. It would not be appropriate. It is too soon to speculate exactly | :03:09. | :03:14.
what happened in that shop last night, and how the dead man came by | :03:14. | :03:22.
his injuries. But police did reveal that a 19 year-old man turned up at | :03:22. | :03:25.
hospital last night with stab wounds. He was arrested on | :03:25. | :03:29.
suspicion of robbery. And a gun was found in the area. Police are | :03:29. | :03:31.
trying to establish whether it's connected with the incident. Only | :03:31. | :03:34.
last month a householder was arrested in Salford when a | :03:34. | :03:37.
suspected burglar was fatally stabbed in his home. He's now been | :03:37. | :03:40.
released without charge. Meanwhile, inquiries into the Trafford | :03:40. | :03:47.
incident are continuing. NHS managers have decided they want | :03:47. | :03:49.
Manchester Royal Infirmary to take control of Trafford General | :03:49. | :03:53.
Hospital. The hospital's being taken over by a larger trust, | :03:53. | :03:57.
because it's too small to be viable on its own. Wythenshawe Hospital | :03:57. | :04:00.
had also been bidding to run it. The takeover should be finalised by | :04:00. | :04:08.
next April. I would assure patients that the high quality of care they | :04:08. | :04:12.
are already receiving will continue. There will be benefits in being | :04:12. | :04:16.
associate with a hospital with greater Infrastructure for those | :04:16. | :04:20.
specialist, complex procedures that places like teaching hospitals | :04:20. | :04:28.
perform. More than 250,000 jobs could be created in Greater | :04:28. | :04:31.
Manchester by a high speed rail link to London, according to a | :04:31. | :04:34.
report out today. It was commissioned by a group which | :04:34. | :04:37.
represents the eight largest city economies outside London. One of | :04:37. | :04:42.
the region's biggest hospitals has been closed to visitors after an | :04:42. | :04:48.
outbreak of norovirus. Managers at Arrow Park Hospital in the Wirral | :04:48. | :04:52.
say the ban will stay in place until Monday. The virus causes | :04:52. | :04:59.
vomiting and diarrhoea. A plan to move Lancaster's indoor market into | :04:59. | :05:02.
the city museum has been scrapped. The idea was put forward to help | :05:02. | :05:05.
secure the market's future and cut debt. But councillors have rejected | :05:05. | :05:13.
the move and will now consider alternatives. The families of | :05:13. | :05:16.
Hillsborough victims have welcomed the will and that the Government | :05:16. | :05:20.
must release papers about the tragedy. It follows a Freedom of | :05:20. | :05:24.
Information request by the BBC. 96 Liverpool fans died in a crush at | :05:24. | :05:34.
:05:34. | :05:43. | ||
Sheffield Wednesday's ground, in 1985. An Wilson -- Anne Williams is | :05:43. | :05:47.
one of the relatives who have been fighting for what they see as | :05:47. | :05:50.
justice for 22 years. Her son Kevin was killed at Hillsborough. She | :05:50. | :05:53.
says a witness saw him alive after 3:15pm. Yet the inquest wouldn't | :05:53. | :05:57.
hear evidence of what happened after that. The coroner ruled all | :05:57. | :06:00.
victims were dead by then. Anne's hoping the release of cabinet | :06:00. | :06:03.
papers will shed light on what the government of the day thought. | :06:03. | :06:07.
me, it is one big can of worms, and I want to know where it all started, | :06:07. | :06:09.
whether it was through the cabinet meetings she had. Hopefully, it | :06:09. | :06:13.
will bring out the truth. The then prime minister Margaret Thatcher | :06:13. | :06:16.
visited Hillsborough the day after it happened. Many families believe | :06:16. | :06:20.
the government wanted to deflect blame from the police on to fans. | :06:20. | :06:23.
The official inquiry blamed a failure of police control. A panel | :06:23. | :06:26.
chaired by the Bishop of Liverpool is already examining thousands of | :06:26. | :06:29.
public documents on Hillsborough. One MP says it's vital its work | :06:29. | :06:32.
isn't overshadowed by the cabinet papers release. The release of the | :06:32. | :06:37.
Cabinet papers should not detract from what the panel is trying to | :06:37. | :06:41.
achieve because they are looking at the bigger picture and the Cabinet | :06:41. | :06:46.
papers are only a small part of the overall jigsaw puzzle. The files | :06:46. | :06:49.
covered by the ruling include reports presented to Mrs Thatcher | :06:49. | :06:52.
and minutes of meetings she attended. The Government has 28 | :06:52. | :06:57.
days to appeal the information commissioner's decision. If it does | :06:57. | :07:07.
:07:07. | :07:15. | ||
not, it has to release the papers Back to Gordon now. You have a | :07:15. | :07:19.
great vantage point. I believe you got much closer today. Yes, you are | :07:19. | :07:25.
right about the vantage point. If we moved to the left, you can see | :07:25. | :07:30.
the apartments where all the athletes will stay. Then, to the | :07:30. | :07:37.
left, the basketball centre, and then, the magnificent Velodrome. | :07:37. | :07:42.
But you are right. I managed to get inside. It was not easy, but I did | :07:42. | :07:47.
manage. All of the buildings look fantastic. There is a lot of work | :07:47. | :07:52.
going on still, as you would expect, lots of diggers, cranes and | :07:52. | :07:57.
builders around, but the buildings themselves look splendid. When I | :07:57. | :08:03.
got to the aquatic Centre there was the amazing sight of TV presenters | :08:03. | :08:07.
spreading the word across the world. When I went into the aquatic centre | :08:07. | :08:14.
itself, I was gobsmacked. The pro looked absolutely splendid, and the | :08:14. | :08:24.
:08:24. | :08:25. | ||
seating went high up into the Skype. -- the prole. -- the pool. That is | :08:25. | :08:34.
all very good for London, and well done London. What do the Olympics | :08:35. | :08:38.
mean to the North West? It's over 200 miles away, and for some people | :08:38. | :08:42.
in the region, the Olympics could be on another planet. Or could it? | :08:42. | :08:46.
Arif Ansari has been looking at the impact the Games will have here and | :08:46. | :08:50.
explains what if anything could be the legacy? MUSIC: London Calling. | :08:50. | :08:55.
The promotional video is pretty clear - these are the London Games. | :08:55. | :08:58.
A study by Nottingham University six years ago said regions like the | :08:58. | :09:01.
North West would actually lose money as public investment is | :09:01. | :09:06.
redirected towards the capital. There might be a business in | :09:06. | :09:11.
Salford, or a hotel in Cheshire that benefits. Overall, money will | :09:11. | :09:17.
be sucked into London during the process of the Olympics. No doubt | :09:17. | :09:22.
that Lee Valley and London will do extremely well, but the rest of the | :09:22. | :09:29.
country will do badly. But we're still paying for it. The total | :09:29. | :09:32.
budget for delivering the Games is 9.3 billion. 1.2 billion is | :09:32. | :09:35.
coming from London taxpayers. 2.2 billion from the National Lottery. | :09:35. | :09:39.
And 6.0 billion is coming from taxpayers in the North West and the | :09:39. | :09:48.
rest of the country. The government sees that as investment. It depends | :09:48. | :09:54.
how you cut the figures. All of those figures, the 6 billion, have | :09:54. | :10:00.
gone to suppliers in the UK, based across the regions. So is the | :10:00. | :10:05.
region winning or losing? It is not going to benefit Blackburn, and it | :10:05. | :10:10.
is not going to benefit me in any way. In the North of England we are | :10:10. | :10:15.
just going to watch it on television. But they're already | :10:15. | :10:19.
handing out the medals in Wigan. This is a fit club for overweight | :10:19. | :10:29.
children. One of several projects in the region to have been awarded | :10:29. | :10:32.
an "Inspire Mark", basically an Olympic badge, and the kids have | :10:32. | :10:35.
been down to visit the new stadium. It gives you help and inspires you | :10:35. | :10:39.
more than what you would do. I they have tried and succeeded, so why | :10:40. | :10:43.
can't you do it? It is clear that the Olympics is making a big | :10:43. | :10:47.
difference do lots of people here, but critics insist that it is still | :10:47. | :10:57.
:10:57. | :11:01. | ||
not enough. -- deference to -- difference to. If you're asking | :11:01. | :11:05.
"what's in it for us?" As far as revenue goes, quite a lot, it seems. | :11:05. | :11:08.
According to the North West Development Agency 251 businesses | :11:08. | :11:11.
in the region have won 451 games related contracts. That equates to | :11:11. | :11:21.
:11:21. | :11:25. | ||
100 million of business benefit. But not everyone is a winner. Nina | :11:25. | :11:31.

Widnes, so a special coating is being added to their steel fauna | :11:41. | :11:46.
statue in the Olympic village. is exciting to be involved in the | :11:46. | :11:52.
Olympics the river. Elsewhere in the north-west, the Breakfast of | :11:52. | :12:01.
Champions is being prepared. How important is this company's new | :12:01. | :12:05.
contracts to feed Olympic athletes from the British boxing and cycling | :12:05. | :12:10.
teams? It is massive, not just in terms of kudos, but in financial | :12:10. | :12:15.
terms it has been fantastic and it has a knock on effect on all master | :12:15. | :12:24.
suppliers. Tomorrow, this will be feeding all our Olympic hopefuls. | :12:24. | :12:27.
And the benefits will be felt long after the closing ceremony for | :12:27. | :12:36.
companies in the north-west. In Manchester, still has been supplied | :12:36. | :12:42.
to the main stadium, and in St Helens, the aluminium for the | :12:42. | :12:48.
aquatic Centre roof was put together. This has used contractors | :12:48. | :12:51.
from all over the country. Billions of pounds has been spent across the | :12:51. | :12:57.
UK, not just in London but all over the UK. Businesses across the | :12:57. | :13:01.
north-west are being told to aim high and make sure that they win | :13:01. | :13:09.
their own bite of the Olympic action. Join me later when we'll be | :13:09. | :13:13.
meeting two athletes at the pinnacle of their sports. She is | :13:13. | :13:17.
already a world champion and European champion, it is a | :13:17. | :13:27.
brilliant gymnast, Beth Tweddle. Ranvir. Back to Gordon shortly, but | :13:27. | :13:30.
first, the Olympic Games will attract athletes from all over the | :13:30. | :13:33.
world. Many countries will have their training camps near London - | :13:33. | :13:37.
but many teams have already decided where they want to be and that is | :13:37. | :13:40.
in here in the North West. Including one camp in Liverpool, | :13:40. | :13:47.
from where Tony joins me now. Hopefully, a bit safer, were lovely | :13:47. | :13:57.
:13:57. | :13:59. | ||
from that punchbag! - well away from. There are big medal hopes and | :13:59. | :14:02.
there are big medal hopes. Take this fellow. He's a super | :14:02. | :14:05.
heavyweight. And I'm not just calling him "super" to be nice. | :14:05. | :14:08.
There are 73 official Olympic training venues around the North | :14:08. | :14:11.
West, including the Rotunda Boxing Club here in Liverpool where these | :14:11. | :14:15.
Tongan fighters hope to make their base. More in a moment but first | :14:15. | :14:19.
let's have a look at the pick of the stars and the places putting us | :14:19. | :14:29.
on the Olympic map. The Thorpedo, Ian Thorpe, Is coming here to make | :14:29. | :14:33.
his preparations along with all the Australian swimming squad. They a | :14:33. | :14:38.
promise to pass on tips to locals. They and one of the biggest | :14:38. | :14:41.
swimming nations in the world with one of the biggest teams and it | :14:41. | :14:45.
makes sense to have the best teams coming to the best facilities that | :14:45. | :14:53.
the UK can offer. The University of Central Lancashire is doing his bit | :14:53. | :14:59.
for RTE -- archers and cyclists from six oceanic Nations. We're | :14:59. | :15:02.
providing medical needs and sports science knees. Some athletes coming | :15:02. | :15:06.
here have not had access to that and some athletes coming here have | :15:06. | :15:11.
not had access to top-level coaching. We are providing athletes | :15:11. | :15:17.
with world-class coaches, throughout the region. And expect | :15:17. | :15:20.
standing room only at the basketball centre in Chorlton, when | :15:20. | :15:27.
the Americans come to play a couple of show matches. It seems fitting | :15:27. | :15:34.
that we're going to be hosting the best players in the world. We have | :15:34. | :15:40.
aspired, over the past 10 years, to be the best in British basketball, | :15:40. | :15:45.
certainly at junior level. The kids are very excited about it. The main | :15:45. | :15:48.
event is in London and tickets are like gold dust, but for once-in-a- | :15:48. | :15:54.
lifetime, stars of 2012 will be on your doorstep. These teams will be | :15:54. | :16:01.
vying for gold in the Olympics. This is something we can all be a | :16:01. | :16:04.
little bit excited about with the world's best coming to the north- | :16:04. | :16:12.
west. Coaching the fighters from Tonga here in Liverpool is Damian. | :16:12. | :16:17.
Why are you here? Week were asked to put together a proposal to see | :16:17. | :16:21.
if people would come to Liverpool to do some boxing training and the | :16:21. | :16:26.
team from Tonga came over last week. They are comfortable learning, | :16:26. | :16:31.
coming from a German, in Tonga where they might have a square room | :16:31. | :16:36.
with three bags in it. They are coming on in leaps and bounds. | :16:36. | :16:43.
much better are the facilities here than at home? Much better, we just | :16:43. | :16:49.
have a few bags, just like he said. Two people in the gym, and it is | :16:49. | :16:54.
full. How is lovable helping Your Olympic dream? The great bowl | :16:54. | :16:57.
because the coaching and the facilities are far better and | :16:57. | :17:01.
hopefully through that I can have a chance to show my skills in the | :17:01. | :17:08.
ring. I felt the weight of junior's punches. He has got a good chance. | :17:08. | :17:13.
What does he do for the legacy of the Games in Liverpool? Last | :17:13. | :17:17.
Saturday we went to Livingston Square and their were to a given to | :17:17. | :17:20.
the poll standing around watching the lads training. People are | :17:20. | :17:30.
:17:30. | :17:30. | ||
embracing the Olympics. It is great. Good luck, and I hope you reach the | :17:30. | :17:37.
Olympics, junior. For most Olympic hopefuls, the first job for the | :17:37. | :17:41.
next 12 months is to qualify and make the GB team. Heywood's open | :17:41. | :17:44.
water swimmer Keri-Anne Payne is the first home competitor in any | :17:44. | :17:47.
sport to confirm her place in London and she's been talking about | :17:47. | :17:50.
her excitement to our Olympics reporter Steve Parry at the World | :17:50. | :17:53.
Swimming Championship in Shanghai. Keri-Anne Payne, One year to go on | :17:53. | :17:56.
sale the Olympics, you have got to be excited. Yes, to qualify one | :17:56. | :18:01.
year in advance is amazing. I can just focus now on training rather | :18:01. | :18:05.
than on trials. There will be more trials next year in London, but I | :18:05. | :18:10.
have qualified, I have done what I needed to do. How does it change | :18:10. | :18:15.
your focus because it is Orly tours a day or on the train from | :18:15. | :18:18.
Manchester to London and you're going out all of those home | :18:18. | :18:23.
supporters cheering for you. have so many people cheering for us, | :18:23. | :18:27.
when the Galway to other countries, people cheer for China or Australia, | :18:27. | :18:33.
but for once, to be cheered by hundreds of thousands of people, it | :18:33. | :18:40.
is when to be brilliant. -- it is going to be believed. Hopefully, | :18:40. | :18:46.
the rest of the team will get there as well! That's all from Liverpool. | :18:46. | :18:53.
I believe you have been talking to a few Olympians yourself? I have | :18:53. | :18:59.
been chatting to one or two, but one in particular. I am talking | :18:59. | :19:04.
about Beth Tweddle, the brilliant gymnast. She has been a world | :19:04. | :19:08.
champion three times and European champion six times, so can she now | :19:08. | :19:14.
become an Olympic champion? The celebrations today were Centre on | :19:14. | :19:18.
Olympic Park but also in Trafalgar Square, where I caught up with Beth | :19:18. | :19:24.
Tweddle and asked if being in London amid all this hype brought | :19:24. | :19:30.
home the exceed that of the games to have. Yes, it is great to be a, | :19:30. | :19:35.
to be part of it, with the crowds around Trafalgar Square. It brought | :19:35. | :19:40.
it all to life. The fact that it is in London is a lifetime experience. | :19:40. | :19:46.
You have been two Olympic Games before. Just try and explain what | :19:46. | :19:51.
is special about the Olympic Games that makes it better than any other | :19:51. | :19:55.
competition to compete in? happens every four years. It is the | :19:55. | :19:59.
dream of every Gatwick to be part of the Olympics. With it being in | :19:59. | :20:03.
London it is so close to home, it is the closest you going to get to | :20:03. | :20:09.
having an event this big on your doorstep. How much would winning an | :20:09. | :20:13.
Olympic gold medal in London mean to you? I am not fussy on the | :20:13. | :20:18.
colour, any medal would be nice, to finish my career. I want to look | :20:18. | :20:22.
back in 10 years' time and know that I tried for the Olympic medal, | :20:22. | :20:28.
rather than wishing that I had. have got three gold medals and six | :20:28. | :20:32.
European medals, we just walk them all for an Olympic one? I would | :20:32. | :20:35.
swap one or two of them just to have that Olympic medal tucked away | :20:35. | :20:41.
with the rest of the collection. think about you just turning up, | :20:42. | :20:46.
but there is a matter of qualifying, yet, isn't there? That has not | :20:47. | :20:51.
happened yet. Everyone is getting excited about 2012 and asking me if | :20:51. | :20:57.
I have got my ticket, but I still have to qualify, and the process | :20:57. | :21:02.
starts in October in Tokyo. We have to take a backs there and focus on | :21:02. | :21:09.
that before we can look forward to 2012. -- take a back step. All your | :21:09. | :21:15.
friends and family will want to be a touch you yawn. And they all got | :21:15. | :21:18.
tickets? There are a couple of tickets floating around with some | :21:18. | :21:23.
of them but they have not got as many as they wanted, so we will | :21:23. | :21:27.
have to see what we can get our hands on, near the same. We wish | :21:28. | :21:33.
you well with your preparations. Thank you very much. -- near the | :21:33. | :21:43.

What about getting close to the action? What about getting to the | :21:46. | :21:49.
then use and two venues like Old Trafford where the football will be | :21:49. | :21:54.
taking place? Are we able to see how much interest there has been as | :21:54. | :21:59.
regards tickets in the north-west? The organisers could not give me a | :21:59. | :22:04.
regional breakdown. 2 million people across the UK applied for | :22:04. | :22:10.
tickets. 700,000 of them was Max accessible. I went out and about in | :22:10. | :22:16.
the north-west to ask if they had been interested and got tickets. | :22:16. | :22:21.
son has tickets for the Olympic Book of. You had to show interest | :22:21. | :22:25.
before they became available, which is what I did, but I did not get | :22:25. | :22:33.
tickets. Did you apply for Olympics tickets? And why not? Because it | :22:33. | :22:38.
was such trouble getting them, and I just wasn't bothered. At the the | :22:38. | :22:43.
pounds, it is a full day out. would be nice to go to, but I have | :22:43. | :22:50.
not bothered, to be honest. For all those people who have got tickets | :22:50. | :22:53.
coming to the venues from the north-west, it is going to be a | :22:53. | :22:58.
costly experience. Yes, if you live in London you can pop along for | :22:58. | :23:01.
next to nothing, but if you come from the north-west you have got to | :23:01. | :23:07.
think about transport, food and accommodation, which is never cheap | :23:07. | :23:11.
in London, so some people are saying that the organisers have to | :23:11. | :23:16.
think about it how they are going to cater for people coming from the | :23:16. | :23:20.
regions to the Games. It sounds boring, but it is the essence of it. | :23:20. | :23:24.
There is no point in having cheap because if you cannot bring your | :23:24. | :23:28.
family to London and get back home. In the next few months we're going | :23:28. | :23:32.
to hear a little bit more about ticket prices and ticket timetables | :23:32. | :23:37.
that will enable good to come from the north-west, to London, and get | :23:37. | :23:44.
back to the north-west, maybe in one day. There has been this huge | :23:44. | :23:49.
charge or tickets. Are there any left? You might get a chance with | :23:49. | :23:55.
another million going on sale next -- towards the end of this year, | :23:55. | :23:58.
including the football at Old Trafford, but in London you are | :23:58. | :24:01.
probably limited to freestyle wrestling. Do you fancy that, | :24:01. | :24:06.
Gordon? Not sure that at, Stuart. Here in London, the weather has | :24:06. | :24:12.
been reasonable, but we're going back to north-west to get the | :24:13. | :24:17.
picture. Bay and returns with the weather on Monday. We are sorry to | :24:17. | :24:24.
lose Kai, who has fitted in Max Orwell. It has been great to be | :24:24. | :24:34.
:24:34. | :24:35. | ||
We have seen clear, sunny skies this morning. Cloud increasing into | :24:35. | :24:40.
the afternoon. But the lines Shearer that sunshine has been | :24:40. | :24:44.
across the Isle of Man and western coasts. -- the lines share of that | :24:44. | :24:54.
sunshine. It looks as if you could draw a line and this period of | :24:54. | :24:58.
cloud and rain is across Northern Ireland at the moment. It will be | :24:58. | :25:03.
moving eastwards through tonight and into tomorrow. It will start to | :25:03. | :25:09.
fizzle out. The majority of us will see a few showers tomorrow. The | :25:09. | :25:14.
only reliable rainfall will be across the Isle of Man tonight and | :25:14. | :25:19.
tomorrow. For most of us, generally cloudy with light showers. This | :25:19. | :25:24.
evening, cloud increasing as we go through the night, with rain | :25:24. | :25:28.
arriving across the Isle of Man in the early hours of tomorrow morning. | :25:28. | :25:34.
It will be quite hit the at times. Elsewhere, mostly dry with clear | :25:34. | :25:40.
spells. Temperatures, down to 14 or 15 Celsius. Tomorrow morning, a | :25:40. | :25:45.
promising, bright start, with that rain across the Isle of Man. It | :25:45. | :25:49.
will move away quite quickly so it will brighten up as we go on into | :25:49. | :25:53.
the afternoon. As that brain tries to age in across the mainland, it | :25:53. | :26:00.
will fizzle out, leaving a few light showers here and there. | :26:00. | :26:06.
Feeling cooler under that cloud. Into Friday, a legacy of cloud to | :26:07. | :26:12.
start with, then we have an area of high pressure settling things down | :26:12. | :26:19.
into the weekend. More in the way of sunshine this weekend. You leave | :26:19. | :26:24.
us with a smile. Come and have a quick chat before you go. We have | :26:24. | :26:29.
had an e-mail about the Olympics. One year from today. John Townsend | :26:29. | :26:34.
said that they might have had someone from the Olympics in Darwen, | :26:34. | :26:39.
near Blackburn in Lancashire. They made the Olympic clock in Trafalgar | :26:39. | :26:47.
Square. Gordon, I can tell you have had a great day out. Can you get a | :26:47. | :26:56.
sense that the euphoria will travel beyond the M 25, and reached this | :26:56. | :27:03.
region? It is difficult to say. I have spoken to Sir Matthew Pinsent, | :27:03. | :27:07.
Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, who say that the entire country | :27:07. | :27:12.
will get involved. The Commonwealth Games was not just about Manchester | :27:12. | :27:18.
- the entire country got involved. It was a fantastic event, as I am | :27:18. | :27:23.
sure that the Olympics will be. Everyone has been a big fan of | :27:23. | :27:28. |
