Good evening. Welcome to North West Tonight with Roger Johnson and | :00:04. | :00:08.
Annabel Tiffin. Our top story... Murdered by his kidnappers in | :00:08. | :00:11.
Nigeria. Tributes to the "likeable, sociable and professional" Chris | :00:11. | :00:17.
McManus. We did not want him to leave. So we are all devastated to | :00:17. | :00:20.
hear this. Chris died when an attempt to | :00:20. | :00:24.
rescue him ended in tragedy. We'll be live in Oldham. | :00:24. | :00:28.
Also tonight... Going to the chapel. A Unitarian church becomes the | :00:28. | :00:33.
country's first religious venue to offer civil partnerships. | :00:34. | :00:38.
The DIY X Factor. Rebecca Ferguson visits the housing charity where | :00:38. | :00:43.
work brings rewards. At the moment, charity starts at home for me. And | :00:43. | :00:51.
Liverpool has been so good to me. And David's decade. Moyes clocks up | :00:51. | :00:55.
ten years at Everton. But could he be tempted by the lure of a bigger | :00:55. | :01:05.
:01:05. | :01:13. | ||
club? Any talk of any other clubs, A model student who was building a | :01:14. | :01:18.
promising career. A keen traveller. An Oldham Athletic fan. That's the | :01:19. | :01:21.
picture emerging of Chris McManus, murdered after being held hostage | :01:21. | :01:26.
in Nigeria. Chris, whose family live in Royton near Oldham, died | :01:26. | :01:29.
when a rescue attempt involving British and Nigerian forces failed. | :01:29. | :01:33.
Today, those who knew him have been paying tribute. Stuart Flinders is | :01:33. | :01:43.
:01:43. | :01:46. | ||
in Royton for us now. Chris McManu's family live in this | :01:46. | :01:53.
estate. They have lived with his disappearance for ten months. | :01:53. | :01:56.
They've had the uncertainty of not knowing what would happen to Chris | :01:56. | :02:02.
since he was captured last May. He and an Italian colleague were both | :02:02. | :02:07.
killed in an attempt to rescue them Guitarist, Formula 1 fan, Oldham | :02:07. | :02:11.
supporter, according to his CV. When chartered surveyor, Chris | :02:11. | :02:14.
McManus, was apprenticed to a firm in Bolton, they were reluctant to | :02:14. | :02:21.
let him go. We tried hard at all levels to make him stay. He | :02:21. | :02:24.
qualified here, so he was very much a team member. We wanted him to | :02:24. | :02:30.
stay. We left his job open for two years when he decided to leave. | :02:30. | :02:34.
Chris went to school in Royton. He got 11 GCSEs and three A-Levels. He | :02:34. | :02:39.
left a decade ago, but staff here remember him fondly. It has come as | :02:39. | :02:45.
a shock. It is a very sad time. He was very popular with his peers and | :02:45. | :02:51.
with the staff and very fondly remembered. And did very well? | :02:51. | :02:57.
well, achieving very well and going on to university. But really, at | :02:57. | :03:02.
the moment, our plots are primarily with the family at such a sad time | :03:02. | :03:06.
and they are very much in our thoughts and prayers. Chris McManus | :03:06. | :03:09.
was working as a contractor in the north west of Nigeria when he was | :03:09. | :03:13.
taken hostage. His captors released a video of him with fellow detainee | :03:13. | :03:17.
Franco Lamolinara. The Prime Minister authorised an attempt by | :03:17. | :03:21.
British and Nigerian forces to release them, but they were killed. | :03:21. | :03:25.
Chris's family chose not to speak directly to the media. But in a | :03:25. | :03:28.
statement, they said they were confident everything that could be | :03:28. | :03:32.
done was being done during his ten month ordeal. | :03:32. | :03:38.
You will be aware from the national news that there is a bit of a spat | :03:38. | :03:42.
between our and Italian governments in terms of how that rescue attempt | :03:42. | :03:47.
was done. Chris's family said in a statement, we were aware of the | :03:47. | :03:52.
people trying to get Chris returned. We would like to thank all of them | :03:52. | :04:01.
for their efforts. Stuart Flinders, thank you. | :04:01. | :04:04.
The family of one of the six soldiers killed in Afghanistan on | :04:04. | :04:07.
Tuesday has paid tribute to him. A book of condolence has opened for | :04:08. | :04:12.
Sergeant Nigel Coupe. The 33-year- old from St Anne's served with the | :04:12. | :04:15.
1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. This tragedy | :04:15. | :04:20.
has left two little girls without a daddy. A loving wife with no | :04:20. | :04:29.
husband. A sister with no brother. A mum and dad with no son. A family | :04:29. | :04:37.
which a broken heart. Nigel would be touched by all the | :04:38. | :04:41.
support we are getting from family friends and the British Army in | :04:41. | :04:45.
which he loyally served. I also have no doubt in my mind he will be | :04:45. | :04:48.
proud of our children and the way in which they have dealt with his | :04:48. | :04:52.
untimely death. Our eldest daughter Ella said, Daddy is a star now. | :04:52. | :04:56.
Everyone who knew Nigel would know he has always been a star. The only | :04:56. | :05:00.
difference is now he is shining in a different place. | :05:00. | :05:03.
The issue of gay weddings in churches has been in the headlines | :05:03. | :05:10.
this week. Tonight, the news that a chapel in Manchester is to become | :05:10. | :05:13.
the first place to effectively, they say, offer just that. Cross | :05:13. | :05:16.
Street Unitarian Chapel has been granted a licence to conduct both a | :05:16. | :05:19.
religious ceremony and the legal same-sex civil partnership in the | :05:19. | :05:22.
same venue. It is thought to be the first religious venue in the | :05:22. | :05:26.
country to offer the service. We are joined now live from the chapel | :05:26. | :05:28.
by Reverend Jane Barraclough. Thank you for cocky to us this evening. | :05:28. | :05:37.
Why have you decided to do it? -- thank you for talking to us. | :05:37. | :05:43.
seemed like a natural extension of the work we have already done. | :05:43. | :05:48.
controversial? It is amongst the religious right, not amongst | :05:49. | :05:53.
religious liberals. The religious right get all the headlines, when | :05:53. | :05:57.
some of us are tried to carry on been decent, human communities, | :05:57. | :06:03.
including people. Do you worry about not a backlash, but by the | :06:03. | :06:11.
reaction you are likely to get from certain sections of the Church? | :06:11. | :06:17.
wake it up, making your choice. We have decided to do this. We are an | :06:17. | :06:21.
inclusive church. It would be strange for as not to do it. We | :06:21. | :06:26.
have to live with the consequences. We thought about it, our committee | :06:27. | :06:32.
discussed it, doing that on a long time. But for us, this is not a big | :06:32. | :06:39.
drum up. It is part of our every delight., because you are saying | :06:39. | :06:45.
this will be done up under one roof, are you effectively offering a gay | :06:45. | :06:52.
wedding? Effectively, yes, but legally, we cannot all further up - | :06:52. | :06:59.
- we cannot offer a gay marriage is. It will be a civil ceremony. It | :06:59. | :07:02.
will be the civil signing of document patient. The registrar | :07:02. | :07:05.
will come to her mac building and do that, which was not possible | :07:05. | :07:15.
:07:15. | :07:17. | ||
before. What have the congregation said? Is the key Minty are in | :07:17. | :07:21.
favour and we are celebrating. -- the Cook -- the committee are in | :07:21. | :07:27.
favour. You were the first to have women ministers are in your church. | :07:27. | :07:32.
Now that is common in the Anglican church. Do you think other charges | :07:32. | :07:38.
will follow suit? I hope so. We have no agenda to make other | :07:39. | :07:43.
denominations take this on. This is about religious liberty. We | :07:43. | :07:47.
consider we have the right to have these services in our churches and | :07:48. | :07:52.
chapels. If other denominations choose not to, that is their | :07:52. | :08:02.
:08:02. | :08:02. | ||
business. It makes me sad. I was just going to say that I am sad | :08:02. | :08:06.
about all the homophobic rhetoric in the press right now. It gives | :08:06. | :08:12.
religious people are really bad name. In one word, have you had | :08:12. | :08:17.
much interest? We had one pre- booked before legislation had gone | :08:17. | :08:22.
through. We have not done any advertising, which we will do. I | :08:22. | :08:29.
hope people feel free to come here and have a religious ceremony. | :08:29. | :08:34.
grateful for your time, the Reverend Jane Barraclough, from the | :08:34. | :08:37.
Cross Street Unitarian Chapel in Manchester. | :08:37. | :08:40.
An air accident inquiry is underway after a plane crash landed in the | :08:40. | :08:44.
Isle of Man. The undercarriage collapsed as the flight from Leeds | :08:44. | :08:47.
landed at the island's Ronaldsway Airport. When it skidded off the | :08:47. | :08:53.
runway last night, 12 passengers and two crew not injured. | :08:53. | :08:58.
A lucky escape for passengers, looking back at do craft the | :08:58. | :09:05.
managed to walk off. We get the run week with a big fat, sparks were | :09:05. | :09:11.
flying. -- with a baked crash. I thought we were going to turnover, | :09:11. | :09:16.
then it flipped back and we went on to the grass. Luckily, we got out | :09:16. | :09:23.
the back. You can just about see it behind me at the airport. It landed | :09:23. | :09:28.
last night and be carriage under the collapsed, leaving it to skid | :09:28. | :09:34.
across onto the grass. It is business as usual today. All 12 | :09:34. | :09:40.
passengers and two crew walked off safely. It was operated on behalf | :09:40. | :09:46.
of a company based in the Isle of Man. It said this type of aircraft | :09:46. | :09:52.
has a good track record. It was one of the most frightening experiences, | :09:52. | :09:59.
I am still seeing it. I wasn't going to try and get out because of | :09:59. | :10:05.
the sparks. The craft will be held and the investigation is continuing | :10:05. | :10:15.
to find out what caused this to happen. | :10:15. | :10:18.
Moors murderer Ian Brady will have his mental health tribunal held in | :10:18. | :10:22.
public on Monday the 9th of July. Brady wants to be released from | :10:22. | :10:25.
Ashworth Hospital in Sefton, where he is held under the Mental Health | :10:25. | :10:30.
Act. The hearing will be at the hospital and people will be able to | :10:30. | :10:34.
watch it via CCTV at the Civil Justice Centre in Manchester. | :10:35. | :10:38.
Mistakes at a forensic laboratory mean a Manchester rape case is to | :10:38. | :10:42.
be reopened. It has emerged that a DNA sample was contaminated in the | :10:42. | :10:47.
laboratories of a company called LGC Forensics. It led to a man | :10:47. | :10:50.
being wrongly accused of the attack which happened in Blackley last | :10:50. | :10:53.
October. Greater Manchester Police are reviewing of some their | :10:53. | :10:58.
investigations where the same company was used. We spoke to the | :10:58. | :11:01.
forensic regulator about a review to be undertaken in relation to | :11:01. | :11:05.
that particular sample and other samples. I must stress, at the | :11:05. | :11:09.
moment, this is one isolated case. As tragic as it is, this is one | :11:09. | :11:13.
case. We will wait for the Home Office and forensic regulators to | :11:13. | :11:19.
give us that review. An old mill in Oldham has turned | :11:19. | :11:24.
its entire roof into a solar- powered generator. It is not only | :11:24. | :11:27.
cutting the energy bills of the company based there. It is making | :11:27. | :11:32.
them money. But will the government's plan to cut the | :11:32. | :11:35.
subsidies for solar power take the shine off a power source that's | :11:35. | :11:37.
good for business and the environment? | :11:37. | :11:40.
Baum Trading designs, imports and distributes clothing. It works out | :11:40. | :11:45.
of Devon Mill in Oldham. Heating and lighting this five-storey, 100- | :11:45. | :11:50.
year-old building eats money. costs are going up all the time. I | :11:50. | :11:56.
am paying 25,000 roughly a year in electricity. I have a resource on | :11:56. | :12:00.
the roof. He's right. The roof is a big resource. It is big enough to | :12:00. | :12:06.
house more than 600 solar panels. The panels also earn money. He has | :12:06. | :12:10.
paid for every kilowatt produced using a feed-in tariff, organised | :12:10. | :12:14.
by the Government, but with cash from the Government. The scale of | :12:14. | :12:19.
the scheme means the Feed-In Tariff should generate up to 35,000 a | :12:19. | :12:25.
year. On top of that, surplus energy generated here and fed back | :12:25. | :12:31.
into the National Grid should bring in another 3,500 from his energy | :12:31. | :12:36.
supplier. But the Feed-In Tariff payments will be lower or newt | :12:36. | :12:41.
installations, because of changes ordered by the Government. | :12:41. | :12:47.
tariff has been reduced. It is still a viable commercial project. | :12:47. | :12:52.
Do you see yourself as someone tried to convert more businesses? | :12:52. | :12:59.
am hoping other businesses will take up these opportunities. | :12:59. | :13:02.
with so many former mill buildings, with so many acres of roof space, | :13:02. | :13:08.
David believes this region could lead a solar-powered revolution. | :13:08. | :13:18.
:13:18. | :13:20. | ||
Not a lot of sun there. Sunshine all this helps. | :13:20. | :13:24.
That was a mill using solar panels to power itself. Well, a long time | :13:24. | :13:27.
before solar panels or fears over global warming, water power was the | :13:27. | :13:30.
future. In Stockport, they have just excavated what was, in the | :13:30. | :13:32.
1700s, the world's biggest water wheel. It powered a six-storey | :13:32. | :13:36.
mille employing 500 workers. Our Environment Correspondent Colin | :13:36. | :13:40.
Sykes has been to take a look. With just hours to go before the | :13:40. | :13:44.
opening, there's still work to be done. This was the site of Samuel | :13:44. | :13:49.
Oldknow's magnificent Mellor Mill. 400 feet long and six storeys high. | :13:49. | :13:53.
He diverted the River Goyt to power his water wheel, the largest in the | :13:53. | :13:58.
world. The water would have come in at the top here. It would have | :13:59. | :14:02.
driven the water wheel down and exit through the tunnel I am facing | :14:02. | :14:10.
now. The mill was destroyed by fire in 1892. But the pit for the wheel | :14:10. | :14:15.
is being painstakingly restored. have something functioning two | :14:15. | :14:19.
years is tremendous. And to this sort of standard of work. This was | :14:19. | :14:23.
an age where, if I was building a house, it was going to be better | :14:23. | :14:27.
than your house. And my mill would be better than your mill. There was | :14:27. | :14:31.
that competition going on between entrepreneurs. We tend to think of | :14:31. | :14:35.
technology being a new thing. But back in 1792, when this opened, | :14:35. | :14:39.
this really was the biggest in the world. But it would only be a | :14:39. | :14:43.
matter of time before it was overtaken. Oldknow was one of the | :14:43. | :14:48.
great entrepreneurs of his age. must have been able to get people | :14:48. | :14:52.
to work for him. To work very hard for him. And people to lend him | :14:52. | :14:56.
money. He had several partners that came and went. And he spent, spent, | :14:56. | :15:01.
spent. There is still much work to be done here, but with a huge | :15:01. | :15:11.
:15:11. | :15:11. | ||
effort, the history of the site is slowly coming back to life. | :15:11. | :15:17.
That is an excavation job and a halt -- and a half. A lot of power | :15:17. | :15:21.
there. Sport now. And Tony, a bad night | :15:21. | :15:24.
for both Manchester teams in the Europa League, particularly for | :15:24. | :15:27.
Manchester United? Yes, this cheeky back-heel goal by Xandao meant City | :15:27. | :15:32.
were beaten 1-0 at Sporting Lisbon in Portugal. But the real shock of | :15:32. | :15:36.
the night was United losing 3-2 at Old Trafford to Athletic Bilbao. | :15:36. | :15:39.
Bilbao are only fifth in the Spanish League, but they outclassed | :15:39. | :15:44.
United for large parts of the match. Wayne Rooney put United ahead in | :15:44. | :15:48.
the 22nd minute. But Bilbao equalised with a great header. In | :15:48. | :15:51.
the second half, the Spanish side scored another two, both of them | :15:51. | :15:54.
controversial. De Marcos appeared to be just offside when he finished | :15:54. | :15:58.
off a brilliant move. Two minutes from time, Patrice Evra was | :15:58. | :16:01.
penalised for kicking the ball without his boot on. Never seen a | :16:01. | :16:05.
free kick given for that before, but it was. And seconds later, | :16:05. | :16:09.
Bilbao scored their third goal. Just before the final whistle, | :16:09. | :16:14.
United were awarded a penalty. Rooney kept his cool and scored. | :16:15. | :16:18.
The upshot is that, in the second legs of these ties next week, | :16:18. | :16:21.
United and City both need to win by two clear goals. This is what the | :16:22. | :16:26.
managers had to say. An uphill fight for us, obviously. The | :16:26. | :16:33.
question is can we win the match? I think we can. We do not think we | :16:33. | :16:43.
:16:43. | :16:44. | ||
deserved to lose this game. Maybe we did not play very, very well. | :16:44. | :16:50.
With the chance to score, we consider it so-so. | :16:50. | :16:57.
Against the need to go away and score? And players need to tie | :16:57. | :17:05.
their shoelaces. Now one of the managers Fergie most | :17:06. | :17:08.
admires, his fellow Scot, David Moyes is about to celebrate ten | :17:08. | :17:11.
years in the hot seat at Everton. Experts like Fergie say Moyes has | :17:12. | :17:14.
worked miracles at Goodison Park given the club's lack of cash. And | :17:15. | :17:16.
as next week's anniversary approaches, there's speculation | :17:16. | :17:19.
Moyes could be head-hunted by a richer club. | :17:19. | :17:22.
One day, they'll build a statue to David Moyes at Goodison Park. It | :17:22. | :17:27.
can only be made of one thing. Rock. Everton had only finished in the | :17:27. | :17:31.
top half of the Premier League once before he arrived. During the last | :17:31. | :17:34.
decade, they've done it seven times. There are some really experienced | :17:34. | :17:37.
managers who are managing on and still going and doing it | :17:37. | :17:41.
unbelievably well. I hope that there is a lot more to come for me. | :17:42. | :17:45.
I hope there is more development. And I have to say, I hope there is | :17:45. | :17:49.
the chance I might win some trophies along the way. Moyes is | :17:49. | :17:51.
the third longest-serving manager in football behind Sir Alex | :17:51. | :17:54.
Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. That's even more remarkable when you | :17:54. | :17:58.
factor in fan unrest over the lack of cash afforded him by the board. | :17:58. | :18:02.
He is a first class manager. And he has that grittiness and | :18:02. | :18:06.
determination that has allowed Everton to be in there all the time. | :18:06. | :18:09.
No matter how many players he has had injured, he has always produced | :18:09. | :18:15.
a team that represents the club very well. With no big bucks, the | :18:15. | :18:18.
Scot has had to nurse countless new generations like Jack Rodwell and | :18:18. | :18:23.
Seamus Coleman. Oh, and someone else, too. Although Rooney's sale | :18:23. | :18:25.
to Manchester United remains a constant reminder that the | :18:25. | :18:29.
manager's nuggets may always have to be for sale. Nevertheless, he's | :18:29. | :18:33.
not been tempted by links to top six sides. Yes, of course you hear | :18:33. | :18:38.
it. I would be lying if I did not say I did not hear or see it. But | :18:39. | :18:44.
Everton have been great to me. They gave me that chance when I was | :18:44. | :18:49.
young. Any talk about any other clubs, I do not want to hear about | :18:49. | :18:52.
it. After a decade, the gaffer worries his players think he's | :18:52. | :18:58.
mellowed with age. How will that affect the average Moyes match day? | :18:58. | :19:06.
Not much we hope. Well done today it, a remarkable | :19:06. | :19:08.
achievement. Premier league fans are familiar | :19:08. | :19:12.
with Super Sunday. Well, for those in the relegation fight, welcome to | :19:12. | :19:15.
worry weekend. Second-from-bottom Bolton are at home to QPR, who are | :19:15. | :19:23.
only two points above them. Rock- bottom Wigan travel to Norwich. | :19:23. | :19:26.
Blackburn are offering their fans free transport and a free pie if | :19:26. | :19:28.
they travel to the Midlands for tomorrow's game against Wolves. | :19:28. | :19:31.
Rovers are currently trying to sign the former Dutch international Bolo | :19:31. | :19:35.
Zenden. We are confident we have made a good case for what we want | :19:35. | :19:38.
to do, how he will fit in, the dynamic in the dressing room, or | :19:39. | :19:44.
what we need from him. I'm sure he left much more positive than when | :19:44. | :19:49.
he came. Jeff Whitley tasted the glory of | :19:49. | :19:52.
playing professional football for his beloved Manchester City and | :19:52. | :19:55.
winning promotion. But his career was ruined by drink, drugs and | :19:55. | :19:59.
gambling. He's since rebuilt his life, and now he warns young | :20:00. | :20:02.
players about the temptations which he fell prey to. Jeff delivers his | :20:03. | :20:06.
message through the League Football Education Programme. | :20:06. | :20:12.
Football is what he is known for, not what he is here to talk about. | :20:12. | :20:18.
Instead, he is telling you to teams about how he lost his career and | :20:18. | :20:24.
nearly his life to alcohol and cocaine. I went weeks and weeks not | :20:24. | :20:31.
being sober. Just completely on another planet. I was trying to | :20:31. | :20:37.
kill myself and waking up and braying to die. Then waking up and | :20:37. | :20:40.
thinking, how can you still be alive when you have abused your | :20:40. | :20:46.
body? It was until four years ago, with his career in tatters, that he | :20:46. | :20:52.
sought help, checking into a clinic founded by Tony Abbott -- founded | :20:52. | :21:02.
by Tony AB -- founded by Tony Adams. I have my daughter and my partner, | :21:02. | :21:12.
:21:12. | :21:12. | ||
I thanked her for that, she has been to a lot with me. Welcome to | :21:12. | :21:17.
this... All but three years, hundreds of youngsters have had | :21:17. | :21:21.
this about the potential pitfalls of life as a professional | :21:21. | :21:24.
footballer. It is only recently that ex-professional have come | :21:24. | :21:29.
forward to tell their story. This is something I wish I had as a | :21:29. | :21:35.
player. And I am delivering it knout. Just hearing about how many | :21:35. | :21:39.
goals he has scored, and the consequences behind the scenes, it | :21:39. | :21:46.
opens your eyes. It is best to come from another professional. | :21:46. | :21:50.
matter what these youngsters a cheap, this could be the most | :21:50. | :21:56.
important 90 minutes of their careers. | :21:56. | :22:02.
Good stuff. More of the region's swimmers have qualified for the | :22:02. | :22:05.
Olympics during this week's National Swimming Championships. | :22:05. | :22:08.
James Goddard came second in the 200 metres medley after leading | :22:08. | :22:12.
most of the way. But his time was good enough to qualify. And | :22:13. | :22:15.
Southport's Fran Halsall won the 100 metre freestyle in the fastest | :22:15. | :22:21.
time she's ever achieved in a British pool. The 21-year-old is | :22:21. | :22:25.
now ranked number one in the world for that event. Amazingly, she said | :22:25. | :22:34.
she was disappointed because she can go faster. | :22:34. | :22:41.
You can hear some Super League action tonight. | :22:41. | :22:45.
Back to Manchester United. When your team is up against it in | :22:45. | :22:51.
Europe, can it get worse? It did for Alex Ferguson yesterday when he | :22:51. | :23:00.
tried to make a substitution of. Watched the electronic board. Right | :23:01. | :23:07.
on his shin. I got that would be amusing. We hope his leg is all | :23:07. | :23:16.
right if he is watching. Thank you, Tony. | :23:16. | :23:20.
House building isn't a very glamorous business. But it was | :23:20. | :23:23.
today when X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson dropped in to a house in | :23:23. | :23:27.
Liverpool. She was there to lend her support to a charity that helps | :23:27. | :23:30.
people buy their own homes by getting them to build them. Instead | :23:30. | :23:32.
of paying a deposit, potential homeowners put in hours of work | :23:32. | :23:34.
shifting bricks or shovelling cement. | :23:35. | :23:38.
They don't teach this on X Factor boot camp. Cutting the first sod | :23:38. | :23:48.
:23:48. | :23:50. | ||
for the next stage of a charity housing scheme in Toxteth. SINGING. | :23:50. | :23:55.
A year and half ago, Rebecca was unknown. Now she has a critically- | :23:55. | :23:59.
acclaimed album and sell-out shows. But she wants to help out good | :23:59. | :24:03.
causes in her home city. At the moment, charity starts at home for | :24:03. | :24:09.
me. And Liverpool has been so good to me. I am focusing on Liverpool | :24:09. | :24:14.
charities for the first year, then I will move on. I have such an | :24:14. | :24:23.
attachment to my home city, I wanted to get back, really. -- give | :24:23. | :24:26.
back. Rebecca visited Julia Walimbwa's home. Julia helped build | :24:26. | :24:30.
her own house. It's how the charity helps people who otherwise couldn't | :24:30. | :24:35.
afford their own home. It was difficult, but the joy it is you | :24:35. | :24:40.
have something and have benefited from a hard work. The Territorial | :24:40. | :24:44.
Army are building the new road. The charity says there's big need for | :24:44. | :24:48.
affordable homes here. The housing stock in the City, there is a lot | :24:48. | :24:54.
of poor, derelict housing. There were over 2000 derelict properties | :24:54. | :24:59.
at one time. It is brilliant, giving people hope and pride as | :24:59. | :25:04.
well, pride in their own worth. Rebecca's was a flying visit. She's | :25:04. | :25:09.
singing at the Philharmonic Hall this weekend. | :25:09. | :25:15.
I've thought she was going to be up a ladder painting. How to look | :25:15. | :25:19.
glamourous in that jacket. And all was looking glamourous, here is the | :25:19. | :25:26.
weather. Can I say to Alex Ferguson at I was the only one not laughing? | :25:26. | :25:36.
:25:36. | :25:40. | ||
It is really quiet weather-wise. Quiet, mild, up but it is fairly | :25:40. | :25:45.
cloudy. Not constantly, but fairly cloudy. That is thanks to this high | :25:45. | :25:52.
pressure. Up until about Tuesday or Wednesday, we can predict this high | :25:52. | :25:58.
pressure will stick around, keeping weather fronts out of the way. It | :25:58. | :26:03.
is not a bad picture. A weak weather front makes it way across | :26:03. | :26:08.
the region tonight and first thing tomorrow. Some spots of drizzle in | :26:08. | :26:13.
the forecast, particularly for parts of Cumbria. For many, it is | :26:13. | :26:21.
just quiet, cloudy, some mist a possibility in the early hours. But | :26:21. | :26:26.
temperatures are good tonight. Very mild, between 8 and 11 Celsius | :26:26. | :26:32.
along the coast. Into Saturday. The weather and comes down, dying out | :26:32. | :26:40.
all the time. Some drizzle in parts, but for most, a cloudy picture, | :26:40. | :26:45.
resembling today. This that I could come out every now and then, | :26:45. | :26:52.
feeling quite pleasant. -- the sun it could come out. When not causing | :26:52. | :26:57.
any problems. Temperatures tomorrow do not rise that much from | :26:57. | :27:04.
overnight values, because the air is so warm. It could get to 13 or | :27:04. | :27:10.
14. Temperatures could creep up with an hour of sunshine. | :27:10. | :27:14.
Temperatures continuing to be quite good in to Sunday. Nothing really | :27:14. | :27:20.
changing. The high pressure keeps averaging very static. And | :27:20. | :27:30. |
