That is all from the News At Six, goodbye | :00:00. | :00:00.
Good evening, welcome to North West Tonight, with Annabel Tiffin. | :00:00. | :00:09.
And Roger Johnson. Our top story: Police arrest four more | :00:10. | :00:11.
anti`fracking campaigners in Salford, but are local residents as | :00:12. | :00:18.
angry as the protestors? We've got to move forward. Gas and Electric is | :00:19. | :00:25.
going up all the time. I don't think we should have it. Let Mr Cameron | :00:26. | :00:29.
have it where he lives! We will be speaking to the chief | :00:30. | :00:33.
operating officer of iGas. Also tonight, charged with perjury, | :00:34. | :00:36.
the Isle of Man's top legal officer goes on trial at a court in Douglas. | :00:37. | :00:39.
The order which shocked pizza workers in Lancashire ` don't speak | :00:40. | :00:42.
foreign languages or you'll face disciplinary action. What a | :00:43. | :00:49.
tremendous shame it is that they don't see the advantage to having a | :00:50. | :00:54.
multilingual workforce in an environment as diverse as the | :00:55. | :00:56.
Preston community. A cancer unit named after Linda | :00:57. | :00:59.
McCartney receives the Freedom of Liverpool after saving many lives. | :01:00. | :01:04.
And a friend and saviour to lakeland walkers for 40 years. Tributes to | :01:05. | :01:06.
mountain rescue leader Stewart Hulse. | :01:07. | :01:18.
Also tonight, Ian Haslam's at the Etihad Stadium to preview a big | :01:19. | :01:28.
night of Champions' League football. I will be looking ahead to | :01:29. | :01:33.
Manchester United's Champions League match against Germany as well as | :01:34. | :01:42.
City's here at the Etihad Stadium. The keeper Joe Hart will be having a | :01:43. | :01:46.
heart`to`heart with us later on To another that if you can. `` join us | :01:47. | :01:51.
for that. Four people have been arrested as | :01:52. | :01:55.
protesters again tried to stop a convoy of equipment reaching a a gas | :01:56. | :01:58.
drilling site in Salford today. The demonstrators fear the test drilling | :01:59. | :02:02.
at Barton Moss will lead to shale gas fracking. But the firm exploring | :02:03. | :02:06.
in Salford says at the moment it has no plans to use the controversial | :02:07. | :02:09.
fracturing process. We'll be hearing from iGas in a moment, but first | :02:10. | :02:13.
this report from Naomi Cornwell The protest at the entrance to the | :02:14. | :02:17.
site in Barton Moss began peacefully this morning. Campaigners from a | :02:18. | :02:22.
range of different groups gathered. Some had come from other areas of | :02:23. | :02:26.
the UK and camped on the access road. They were joined by others | :02:27. | :02:29.
who'd come from around Greater Manchester. What is the point in | :02:30. | :02:33.
test running when we're not going to let them extra that coalbed methane | :02:34. | :02:41.
and flak in Salford? It is going to destroy the whole countryside and | :02:42. | :02:44.
turn us away from alternative methods of getting fuel. But as a | :02:45. | :02:47.
convoy of lorries carrying equipment arrived, a blockade was formed | :02:48. | :02:50.
across the road. Heavily outnumbered by police, the standoff inched | :02:51. | :02:55.
slowly up the road. There are only around 25 or so protesters here but | :02:56. | :03:00.
as you can see, they have managed to block the access road to the site, | :03:01. | :03:04.
so far preventing the convoy from getting in. They say they will | :03:05. | :03:07.
continue to do this for weeks to come. Just two miles away in Irlam, | :03:08. | :03:12.
many people were unaware of what was happening nearby. No. Haven't heard | :03:13. | :03:17.
of it. And my friends haven't heard anything about it. Wider you think | :03:18. | :03:23.
it is a good win? Because we got to move forward. The price of gas and | :03:24. | :03:28.
Electric is going up all the time. I don't think we should have it. Let | :03:29. | :03:32.
Mr Cameron have it in his! The company, iGas says it plans to take | :03:33. | :03:35.
core samples in its search for methane in the coal bed. If they | :03:36. | :03:39.
found shale gas and wanted to start fracking, they'd have to apply for | :03:40. | :03:43.
new planning permission. But the local MP believes her constituency | :03:44. | :03:47.
isn't suitable for the drilling Why start in urban Salford with a | :03:48. | :03:52.
process nobody knows much about People talk about regulation and | :03:53. | :03:55.
there is no regulation. The company is just getting on with it, using | :03:56. | :03:58.
toxic knuckles and running in an open field. `` toxic chemicals and | :03:59. | :04:06.
drilling. Four people were arrested at scene on suspicion of obstructing | :04:07. | :04:09.
the highway. They included a 41`year`old man from Glossop, who | :04:10. | :04:12.
was arrested and charged with the same offence yesterday. | :04:13. | :04:14.
John Blaymires is the Chief Operating Officer of iGas. You are | :04:15. | :04:17.
not fracking at the moment. What exactly are you doing there? But if | :04:18. | :04:21.
you find shale gas, you will want to frack? As you say, we are not | :04:22. | :04:24.
fracking and we don't have permission for that at the time We | :04:25. | :04:28.
expect to find coalbed methane and we will evaluate the geology. If we | :04:29. | :04:33.
find something, we will analyse the data we get, the rock samples, and | :04:34. | :04:39.
some Electric Wireline logging data and that will help us assess what | :04:40. | :04:44.
the prospect of it he is. If there is shale gas there and it looks | :04:45. | :04:49.
promising, if we thought it was worth actually testing it to | :04:50. | :04:53.
establish its commerciality, then we would have to go away and have to | :04:54. | :04:59.
apply for permission, except for. `` etc. Shell gas is something | :05:00. | :05:06.
completely new not only for you but for all of us. Do you not accept | :05:07. | :05:11.
that people have grave concerns about it? We absolutely respect the | :05:12. | :05:17.
right people do have to have concerns and part of the industry's | :05:18. | :05:21.
policy is to help people understand that we have been drilling wells | :05:22. | :05:26.
onshore in the UK for decades. There are over 2000... But not this deep. | :05:27. | :05:32.
We have drilled wells as deep as this and deeper, so there is no | :05:33. | :05:34.
difference between the so`called shale well and any other type. The | :05:35. | :05:42.
only difference is when it comes to conducting hydraulic fracturing and | :05:43. | :05:50.
that is in excess of 5000 to 10 000 feet. We know it can cause tremors, | :05:51. | :05:55.
that is established. And it can do that years into the future. And it | :05:56. | :06:00.
may contaminate the water table That is a big concern for people? On | :06:01. | :06:06.
both of those issues, we have to put into context that the tremors you | :06:07. | :06:11.
refer to are equivalent to a bus going past at the end of the road. | :06:12. | :06:17.
So we have to put it into context. In reality, you generally cannot | :06:18. | :06:23.
feel those tremors. But we don't know what the commercial effect is? | :06:24. | :06:27.
There have been over 2 million instances of fracking done globally | :06:28. | :06:33.
and there is no evidence to support that. There are two or three at West | :06:34. | :06:37.
which connect to those earthquakes. `` at best. You have signed | :06:38. | :06:46.
agreements with water companies and those wouldn't have been signed if | :06:47. | :06:52.
you weren't concerned? We just want to show people we are behaving in a | :06:53. | :06:56.
safe and responsible manner. You talked about pollution earlier on. | :06:57. | :07:01.
The whole point of building and constructing the world is to ensure | :07:02. | :07:04.
we don't in any way introduce some foreign bodies into those. `` | :07:05. | :07:13.
constructing the wells. By working with the water regulators, we are | :07:14. | :07:17.
trying to demonstrate this can be done safely, providing it is | :07:18. | :07:21.
properly regulated, and we are committed to doing that. Thank you. | :07:22. | :07:25.
A man who tweeted pictures purporting to be of one of James | :07:26. | :07:28.
Bulger's killers has received a 14`month suspended jail sentence. | :07:29. | :07:32.
James Baines, who's 27 and from Liverpool, had flouted a judge's | :07:33. | :07:34.
order banning any image revealing the adult identity of Jon Venables. | :07:35. | :07:39.
Meanwhile, the News of the World hacking trial has heard how the | :07:40. | :07:42.
newspaper paid a private investigator to track down Venables | :07:43. | :07:44.
and Thompson when they were released from prison. Glenn Mulcaire, who's | :07:45. | :07:48.
already been convicted of phone hacking, was given three separate | :07:49. | :07:51.
payments totalling 13 and a half thousand pounds in 2001 and 200 . `` | :07:52. | :07:58.
?13,500. Three of the top five areas of the | :07:59. | :08:02.
UK struggling with debt are in the North West. The figures from the | :08:03. | :08:04.
Government`backed Money Advice Service suggest more than four out | :08:05. | :08:08.
of every ten people in Liverpool, Knowsley and Manchester have | :08:09. | :08:12.
unmanageable debts. Police are urgently trying to trace | :08:13. | :08:15.
a 21`year`old man who hasn't been seen since leaving his home in West | :08:16. | :08:19.
Lancashire yesterday morning. Officers are very concerned for the | :08:20. | :08:22.
welfare of Thomas Orsman, who's recently been suffering from | :08:23. | :08:26.
depression. The Isle of Man's top law officer | :08:27. | :08:29.
has gone on trial charged with perjury and acting against public | :08:30. | :08:34.
justice. A court in Douglas was today told that the island's | :08:35. | :08:36.
Attorney`General laid a trail of lies to try to hide his professional | :08:37. | :08:40.
misconduct. Stephen Harding was suspended from his role as the Manx | :08:41. | :08:43.
Government's main legal advisor last year. He denies the charges, which | :08:44. | :08:47.
go back to 2010, before he became Attorney`General. Our Isle of Man | :08:48. | :08:50.
reporter Kelly Foran heard the prosecution outline their case. | :08:51. | :08:57.
Stephen Harding, the island's Attorney`General, appeared here | :08:58. | :09:02.
facing two charges. Committing a series of acts against public | :09:03. | :09:06.
justice and perjury. The prosecution said in their opening that this is a | :09:07. | :09:12.
case about a lawyer who failed in his professional duties. A lawyer | :09:13. | :09:14.
who relied on oath, they say, to cover his tracks. It all stems from | :09:15. | :09:20.
his alleged actions during the winding up of an Isle of Man company | :09:21. | :09:26.
street heritage limited. The legal representation did not show up to | :09:27. | :09:29.
the petition hearing so the company was wound up. But the prosecution | :09:30. | :09:35.
claims Stephen Harding knew the legal representation was planning to | :09:36. | :09:39.
attend and about efforts made to raise funds to repay their debt The | :09:40. | :09:45.
prosecution says Stephen Harding remained silent and made that | :09:46. | :09:48.
choice, and that he should and did no better. A complaint was made | :09:49. | :09:53.
about his conduct here so he was taken to the Advocate's disciplinary | :09:54. | :09:57.
Tribunal, and it is here where it was alleged he wilfully made a | :09:58. | :10:00.
statement knowing to be false about a note relating to a telephone | :10:01. | :10:05.
call. It is also alleged he created and submitted. Kim intention to the | :10:06. | :10:12.
Advocate's disciplining tribunal. `` and submitted false information He | :10:13. | :10:23.
told police Stephen Harding was unwell at the time and that his | :10:24. | :10:27.
judgement was clouded, but the prosecution said that while he was | :10:28. | :10:30.
well enough to apply and be appointed as the Attorney`General, | :10:31. | :10:34.
he made a choice to conceal his misconduct. Stephen Harding denies | :10:35. | :10:42.
both charges. The trial continues. Should people from ethnic | :10:43. | :10:45.
backgrounds be allowed to speak in their native languages when working | :10:46. | :10:49.
in shops, factories and offices Well, the pizza chain Domino's | :10:50. | :10:54.
doesn't think so. It's banned its staff in Lancashire from speaking | :10:55. | :10:58.
foreign languages while at work One employee has now resigned in | :10:59. | :11:01.
protest, and the pizza chain is being criticised by the town's | :11:02. | :11:04.
Labour MP and the TUC, as Yunus Mulla reports. | :11:05. | :11:13.
Stuart from Deepdale in Preston has quit his job at Domino's pizza after | :11:14. | :11:17.
more than five years as a delivery driver. And this is why. Note that | :11:18. | :11:22.
was put up in the staff area asking employees to speak to each other in | :11:23. | :11:29.
English or face disciplinary action. My friends there from different | :11:30. | :11:35.
countries, like India, Pakistan and Poland, also took offence to this. A | :11:36. | :11:39.
couple of individuals highlighted the sign and asked me to interpret | :11:40. | :11:45.
it, as I'd did best eye could. The notice was put up here at the | :11:46. | :11:49.
Domino's branch in Ashton in Preston. The wording is self has | :11:50. | :11:54.
attracted criticism. This is an employee who took on these staff, | :11:55. | :11:58.
employed them knowing they were multilingual, and what a tremendous | :11:59. | :12:02.
shame it is that they do not see the advantage to having a multilingual | :12:03. | :12:07.
workforce in an environment has diverse as the Preston community. | :12:08. | :12:09.
Domino's said today: it doesn't bother me whatsoever I'm | :12:10. | :12:36.
not offended by it. As long as they come out with a good pizza well | :12:37. | :12:42.
made, that is me happy! It is a whiz courteous to speak in a language | :12:43. | :12:46.
people understand. Just talking to a friend, having a banter, talking to | :12:47. | :12:51.
somebody like we do, but the only problem is, we are nosy and human | :12:52. | :12:56.
and we want to know what is being said. | :12:57. | :13:05.
It has got us all speaking about it in the office this afternoon. | :13:06. | :13:11.
So, do you think the pizza company is right to insist that its workers | :13:12. | :13:15.
use only English in their stores? Or is it, as Preston's MP says, a | :13:16. | :13:18.
ridiculous decision which appears to discriminate against people who | :13:19. | :13:21.
would like to speak their native language? | :13:22. | :13:32.
A cancer unit named after Linda McCartney receives the Freedom of | :13:33. | :13:41.
Liverpool after saving many lives. It is to honour the work carried out | :13:42. | :13:44.
by staff and volunteers from the past 13 years. The centre, based at | :13:45. | :13:50.
the Royal Liverpool Hospital, is named after Sir Paul McCartney's | :13:51. | :13:53.
late wife, Linda. Here's our Merseyside reporter, Andy Gill. | :13:54. | :13:58.
Kate Nelson is a breast surgeon and a year ago she was diagnosed with | :13:59. | :14:03.
breast cancer herself. After surgery and chemotherapy, today she is | :14:04. | :14:07.
having preventative treatment at the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool. | :14:08. | :14:11.
She is delighted it is getting the freedom of the city. I think when | :14:12. | :14:16.
you first get diagnosed, you feel your world has stopped turning, and | :14:17. | :14:20.
right from the beginning, everybody was ready kind and helpful. The | :14:21. | :14:25.
breast care nurses, surgeons, the oncologists have all been fantastic. | :14:26. | :14:30.
The centre is named after Paul McCartney's wife, who died from | :14:31. | :14:36.
breast cancer in 1998. The centre is partly funded by the McCartney | :14:37. | :14:40.
family. We are delighted by the news. Everybody works really hard in | :14:41. | :14:45.
the centre and we work closely as a team, so to have it recognises | :14:46. | :14:49.
really important. It recognises the care and compassion that we have | :14:50. | :14:55.
here in the centre. I feel it has given me my life back. Erm... And | :14:56. | :15:06.
I'm sure if Linda McCartney wasn't here, I wouldn't be here today. It | :15:07. | :15:11.
is incredible. They make you feel special, like you are the only | :15:12. | :15:16.
person being treated here. These days, the centre treats all kinds of | :15:17. | :15:21.
cancers. In future, they want to do more preventative work. That is | :15:22. | :15:24.
because if you get cancer in Liverpool, you are much more likely | :15:25. | :15:28.
to die from it than almost anywhere else in Europe. That is down to the | :15:29. | :15:34.
levels of drinking, smoking, lack of exercise and sunbed use. Tonight, | :15:35. | :15:37.
the Linda McCartney centre was granted the freedom of Liverpool at | :15:38. | :15:41.
a ceremony in the town hall. The Lord Mayor said it was a most | :15:42. | :15:45.
deserving recipient. Very well`deserved. | :15:46. | :15:49.
Tributes are being paid to one of England's leading mountain rescue | :15:50. | :15:52.
volunteers who's died. Stewart Hulse grew up in Bury, but after falling | :15:53. | :15:55.
in love with the beautiful scenery of the Lake District, he made | :15:56. | :15:59.
Windermere his home. He dedicated more than 40 years to helping | :16:00. | :16:02.
walkers who'd become injured or lost whilst exploring the lakes, and in | :16:03. | :16:06.
2001 he was awarded the MBE for his voluntary work, as Alex Worsick | :16:07. | :16:11.
reports. Dedicated and passionate, Stewart | :16:12. | :16:13.
Hulse worked tirelessly to promote mountain rescue. He was a founder | :16:14. | :16:19.
member of the Ambleside Fell Rescue Team, and when it merged with its | :16:20. | :16:22.
neighbours in Langdale, he became leader, a position he held for 5 | :16:23. | :16:26.
years. He was known for speaking his mind, particularly about the | :16:27. | :16:29.
financial struggles of running the voluntary but vital service. We are | :16:30. | :16:38.
saving the government ?6 million a year for this free voluntary | :16:39. | :16:44.
emergency service. That... I don't think they appreciate it. And what | :16:45. | :16:48.
we are saying is, they are taking everything from us but not giving | :16:49. | :16:51.
anything back in return. Stewart Hulse also campaigned for the use of | :16:52. | :16:54.
portable medical equipment such as defibrillators, to use on casualties | :16:55. | :17:01.
in cardiac arrest. They are not like they are today. They are huge | :17:02. | :17:05.
things! But this was the first team to use those. He also persuaded the | :17:06. | :17:09.
RAF to come out on rescues and help us out. I think our team has taken | :17:10. | :17:15.
that legacy forward and we bring in new innovations all the time. | :17:16. | :17:17.
Another of Stewart Hulse's long`running campaigns was to reduce | :17:18. | :17:20.
the extent to which the mountain rescue teams pay VAT. Local MP Tim | :17:21. | :17:23.
Farron said he was a wonderful man. Stewart Hulse described his beloved | :17:24. | :17:35.
Lake District as idyllic, peaceful and adventurous. He died on Saturday | :17:36. | :17:38.
at the age of 78. You can't underestimate how brave | :17:39. | :17:50.
they are, and the volunteers as well. Many people wouldn't be able | :17:51. | :17:54.
to enjoy the countryside without them. And how relieved you are, I am | :17:55. | :17:59.
sure, when you see them coming to your rescue! A big night for | :18:00. | :18:02.
football tonight. With Manchester clubs are playing. We can go over to | :18:03. | :18:08.
Iain. Yes, welcome to the Etihad Stadium, | :18:09. | :18:11.
as Manchester City prepares to host Victoria Pilzen in the Champions | :18:12. | :18:14.
League, with a win surely a formality against a team who are | :18:15. | :18:24.
literally pointless. But before anything has happened on the pitch, | :18:25. | :18:27.
the Reds had some slightly worrying mid`air problems to contend with as | :18:28. | :18:30.
they flew into Germany. The club's plane had to abort its landing 00 | :18:31. | :18:33.
metres above the runway, thankfully getting down safely at the second | :18:34. | :18:37.
attempt. Though it was, as Rio Ferdinand tweeted, a choppy landing. | :18:38. | :18:40.
They will be hoping to avoid any drama on the pitch. They are playing | :18:41. | :18:55.
the team managed by Sami Hyypia The situation now is very different We | :18:56. | :18:59.
are more mindful of how we get the result here and it is important to | :19:00. | :19:03.
get a result of sorts to keep ourselves in a strong position in | :19:04. | :19:09.
the group. Back to Manchester city. It is starting to get busy and the | :19:10. | :19:13.
music is quite loud! `` Manchester City. So they could do with boosting | :19:14. | :19:30.
their goal difference by scoring a hatful of goals tonight, then | :19:31. | :19:33.
winning at leaders Bayern Munich next month. But aside from the | :19:34. | :19:36.
result, the ongoing side issue of Joe Hart, City's England goalkeeper, | :19:37. | :19:39.
who, we understand, will return to the starting line`up tonight after | :19:40. | :19:41.
being dropped following some much`publicised errors. In his place | :19:42. | :19:45.
for the last five games has been Costel Pantillimon, who's form has | :19:46. | :19:48.
been good, with a clean sheet in Sunday's 6`0 win over Tottenham | :19:49. | :19:50.
Here's what manager Manuel Pellegrini has had to say on the | :19:51. | :19:54.
subject. The important thing for Joe is that he will play tomorrow and I | :19:55. | :19:57.
think you will have a very good performance. There is a lot of news | :19:58. | :19:59.
about five, six, seven goalkeepers we want to buy. By Joe Hart stays in | :20:00. | :20:08.
January, come what may? Of course. Joining me now is legendary City | :20:09. | :20:18.
goalkeeper Joe Corrigan. A real man! Not wearing a coat like me I | :20:19. | :20:24.
don't know how! A lot of talk about City wanting to replace Hart and | :20:25. | :20:27.
that he might leave in the January transfer window. How important is it | :20:28. | :20:34.
for him to get back in the team Very important. I've personally | :20:35. | :20:38.
think he is the best English goalkeeper around. And the best | :20:39. | :20:43.
goalkeeper at Manchester City. `` I and personally think. They do not | :20:44. | :20:49.
know what is going to happen... It will have to be some goalkeeper .. | :20:50. | :20:52.
If they are going to bring one in, to take his place. The manager said | :20:53. | :20:58.
he won't be leaving. But they are playing Swansea this weekend and if | :20:59. | :21:02.
he doesn't get back into the first team soon, he will have to move | :21:03. | :21:07.
away, surely? That is between him and his agent. If I were looking, I | :21:08. | :21:11.
would want to play every single week but the circumstances are different | :21:12. | :21:16.
now. It will be a big ask. It is a big ask for the England management | :21:17. | :21:20.
as well because they have come out and said, we're not going to be | :21:21. | :21:23.
playing players who are playing regular football. Thank you so much. | :21:24. | :21:33.
Onto last night's football now, and last night was all about Leagues One | :21:34. | :21:36.
and Two, with North West teams playing in key matches affecting | :21:37. | :21:39.
both ends of the tables. Picking out the key moments, here's Howard | :21:40. | :21:41.
Booth. Preston North end of the league s | :21:42. | :21:49.
Top performers in League One. Their striker scored both goals but only | :21:50. | :21:54.
after narrowly escaping a red card after a case of mistaken identity | :21:55. | :21:58.
when something struck a player. Whatever the circumstances, the wing | :21:59. | :22:02.
constitutes a good night's work for Preston. | :22:03. | :22:07.
One minute of madness in this match. The game was goalless on the stroke | :22:08. | :22:10.
of half`time. The home side scored twice after to put the game out of | :22:11. | :22:15.
reach. Rochdale missed the chance to go top of League Two after a 4` | :22:16. | :22:24.
defeat at home against Scunthorpe. The game was completely changed | :22:25. | :22:32.
after this sending`off. Stanley finished on top in this match, | :22:33. | :22:36.
stretching their unbeaten record to eight games after the 2`0 win. The | :22:37. | :22:45.
defeat sees Fleetwood slipped to fifth in the table. `` slip down to | :22:46. | :22:53.
fifth. That is it from me here. About an | :22:54. | :22:59.
hour to kick`off. Back to you. It's Lancashire Day, and while towns | :23:00. | :23:02.
across the county have been marking the occasion, it's been a | :23:03. | :23:05.
particularly special day in St Annes. More than 120 soldiers from | :23:06. | :23:09.
the Second Batallion, Duke of Lancaster Regiment took part in a | :23:10. | :23:12.
church service and parade through the town today, to celebrate their | :23:13. | :23:15.
return from Afghanistan, as Beccy Meehan reports. | :23:16. | :23:22.
Today is Lancashire Day, and across the ancient county palatine, the | :23:23. | :23:34.
proclamation is being read. The city and County Palatine of Lancaster! | :23:35. | :23:37.
Here in St Annes, it's a particularly special occasion, as | :23:38. | :23:40.
the town hosts a church service and parade to celebrate the return from | :23:41. | :23:43.
Afghanistan of 400 soliders of the Second Batallion, Duke of Lancaster | :23:44. | :23:51.
Regiment. I am touched, really, to be honest. You know... You can't ask | :23:52. | :23:58.
for more. From these guys. They are putting their lives on the line It | :23:59. | :24:02.
is the first time in centre hands and we are proud to have it so I | :24:03. | :24:07.
think it is really good. I am here to support my future son`in`law who | :24:08. | :24:16.
is back from Afghanistan. Lancashire Day is marked on the 27th of | :24:17. | :24:20.
November each year and it marks the day this county sent its first | :24:21. | :24:23.
representatives to Parliament. ? WHITE And the Armed Forces are a | :24:24. | :24:27.
crucial part of the heritage and modern life of Lancashire. | :24:28. | :24:30.
Lancashire men and women have fought in conflict right the way from the | :24:31. | :24:35.
Civil War through to Afghanistan. Surely we even have a family who | :24:36. | :24:49.
served in the Zulu War, then the Second World War and First World War | :24:50. | :24:54.
and then another son served in the Troubles of Northern Ireland. So it | :24:55. | :24:57.
goes way back right through to modern times. Certainly that pride | :24:58. | :25:00.
was keenly felt on Lancashire Day here. | :25:01. | :25:07.
Earlier, we asked you to comment or give us your thoughts on Domino s | :25:08. | :25:12.
pizza's request for their staff to speak English. You really have | :25:13. | :25:18.
commented! A quick look through Laura says, celebrate | :25:19. | :25:20.
multiculturalism and don't suppress it. Chris says, if people are | :25:21. | :25:25.
talking in different languages, other employees may feel left out. | :25:26. | :25:30.
Speak English, please, says Philip. But Basil says, most of the people | :25:31. | :25:35.
working there are foreign, so why shouldn't they speak their language? | :25:36. | :25:39.
I'm really sorry we didn't get to read them all out because we have | :25:40. | :25:43.
never had so many! There are hundreds, literally! Here is the | :25:44. | :25:44.
weather. It is just clouds, Roger! A fairly | :25:45. | :25:54.
mild day but plenty more cloud around all day with occasional spits | :25:55. | :25:58.
and spots of rain. It has been mild because of this area of mild air | :25:59. | :26:02.
dropping down from the North, and we hold onto that for another day but | :26:03. | :26:07.
then all change on Friday. Still plenty of cloud around this evening | :26:08. | :26:11.
and it will thicken up at times to bring the occasional spots of rain | :26:12. | :26:16.
in places. Cumbria and Lancashire could see spots of rain. Mist and | :26:17. | :26:19.
fog patches forming with the overnight temperatures, look at | :26:20. | :26:27.
this, very, very mild. It means it will be a frost free night. But I'd | :26:28. | :26:33.
think we will see fog hatches. `` I think we will see fog patches. A | :26:34. | :26:39.
cloudy day tomorrow with drizzle. A misty start tomorrow morning in some | :26:40. | :26:44.
places with plenty of cloud around and you can see it continuing to | :26:45. | :26:49.
produce some light, drizzly rain through the afternoon and with very | :26:50. | :26:52.
light winds around tomorrow, it will be another mild day. We could even | :26:53. | :27:01.
see 11 degrees. Then it is all change on Friday. This cold front | :27:02. | :27:05.
drops south, bringing with it to some high winds on Friday and we | :27:06. | :27:12.
will see blustery showers. So a wet and windy day on Friday but | :27:13. | :27:14.
hopefully an improvement on Saturday. Enjoy! | :27:15. | :27:20.
There is a split, isn't there, on the Domino's issue, but it has to be | :27:21. | :27:24.
said, most people think the pizza chain are right. Certainly the ones | :27:25. | :27:28.
who have got in touch with us. If you want to join in, you can go to | :27:29. | :27:33.
our Twitter page. Thank you for watching. You are back at 10:30pm? I | :27:34. | :27:41.
am. You look very edible! See you later. Good night. | :27:42. | :27:45. |
