An investigation has been launched after Greater Manchester Police

tasered a blind man last night at a railway station

The 43-year-old was carrying his white stick,

which a member of the public thought was a gun.

Officers were called to the scene and the man was tasered.

This shopkeeper today described a dog barking and armed officers

shouting to a man to lie down outside Levenshulme station.

The man, who was blind, had been Tasered after police

mistakenly took his folding cane for a gun.

The shopkeeper said the man was distressed.

He was obviously in a confused sort of state.

It was a bit dark, he probably quite worried,

in a state of panic, sort of thing.

And the officers around him, what were they trying to do?

Probably, they were just trying to calm him down,

From what I could make out it was a mistaken identity case.

In what followed, one armed officer went into the shop to buy a drink

which was later given to the 43-year-old man.

A much calmer day today after the nasty storm yesterday. Let's look at

systems are marching through again. It means this weekend there will be

will be blustery once again. Nothing like we have had,
