Good evening. A couple from Sussex who won a human

rights case in the UK's highest court got married in a Church of

Scientology chapel today. Louisa Hodkin and Alessandro Calcioli, from

East Grinstead, made historx as they said their vows in front of family

and friends at a ceremony in London. It marks the end of a five`xear

legal battle, as Jane Witherspoon reports.

Wonderland mac legal battle after officials refused to registdr their

Scientology chapel is a place of marriage. In December by Supreme

Court judges ruled it was a place for meeting for religious worship.

The couple from East Grinstdad in Sussex said their victory h`d ended

inequality and paved the wax for other Scientologists. At experts say

that we should be sceptical about the precedent. It opens the door for

Scientology to be recognised as a religion by the Charity Comlission,

which might happen. This gives them huge financial privileges of being

able to deduct tax from don`tions. Controversy aside, the new larried

couple definitely have something to toast.

A man from Burgess Hill has been questioned on suspicion of the rape

of a woman on a night out in the town. The 43`year`old was w`iting

for a taxi outside the libr`ry in the early hours of yesterdax morning

when a man offered to walk her home. She told police that when they got

to Marle Place in Leylands Road he attacked and raped her in a wooded

area near the playground. A 21`year`old man handed himsdlf in to

police last night. He was qtestioned and later released on bail.

Police in Kent say they're concerned for the welfare of a 22`year`old man

who has gone missing from hhs home in Dover. Daniel Till was l`st seen

by his wife at their home in Auden Way just before seven yesterday

morning and was reported missing soon afterwards. Police say he was

in a distressed state. Hundreds of homes in Brighton have

had their phones and interndt cut off after metal cabling was cut in

an attempted theft. It's thought to have affected around 1,200 homes in

the Withdean, Westdean and Hove areas. BT engineers have bedn at the

scene in Preston Park attempting to fix the damaged sections. The firm

described it as "an attack on its network".

Gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold from Kent had the honour of carrxing the

flag and leading the GB teal out in the closing ceremony of the Winter

Olympics this afternoon. Thd 25`year`old, from West Kingsdown,

set a new track record in Sochi when she won her skeleton gold.

It is an honour to do this `nd represent the whole team and

myself. It has been the best few weeks of my life. I cannot wait to

get out there and fly the flag for GB.

Football now, and all our tdams were in action this weekend, but there

were mixed fortunes, as Siobhan Daniels now reports.

In the Championship, Brighton failed to secure a win in their match of

the Amex Stadium. James McArthur gave Wigan the lead when he struck a

left`footed effort past the goalkeeper. They doubled thd lead

after the break with a headdr from the corner. The deficit was reduced

in the 78th minute with a close range strike to make the final score

2`1 to Wigan. Better news for Charlton. Johnnie

Jackson headed in a late stoppage time winner from a tight angle at

the far post to secure a victory. The final score was 1`0.

In League One, the scoring was opened for Crawley from the spot.

The striker doubled his tally after the break when he headed in Billy

Clarke's fine far post cross from six yards. Walsall got one back

before Crawley were reduced to ten men. Clarke was sent off after a

second yellow card for time wasting, but Crawley held on to win 2`1.

Gillingham failed to score hn their away game. Gary Harkins put Oldham

in front with a powerful shot from close range after being found from

this deep cross. The match dnded in a 1`0 defeat for Gillingham.

It looks dry during the daylight hours with the wind eventually

easing down. As we head into late afternoon, things will cloud over

from the West again and eventually through the evening rush`hotr, we

will see outbreaks of rain. Some outbreaks of rain at first `nd then

gradually, through Monday nhght we will get this area of rain pushing

through. That will give us wet weather through the early hours of

Tuesday and then showers on Tuesday. The general outlook into next week

is that it will be unsettled and there will be wet and rather windy

Hello. Still no sign of the weather really settling down next week.

There should be an improvement for most of us tomorrow. It will not be

as windy as it has been today, and the band of rain will slowly peter

out. We still have some rain to come through the night. This band of rain

is quite slow moving, it will wander northwards into Dumfries and

Galloway. Close to Northern Ireland, heavy rain in Cumbria and later in

the night it will turn whether in Wales and the south-west. Southerly

wind, quite strong at the moment, that will ease as the night goes on

but it should be pretty mild, six or seven degrees, typically.
