Cornwall remain cut off tonight, 24 hours after a section of road

collapsed. Five properties were evacuated after the landslip in the

village of Calstock. Spotlight's John Danks reports. In the shadow of

ground water in the water pressure has built up causing this failure.

The residents were forced to spend the rest of Christmas Day elsewhere

after an evacuation. 20 properties beyond the landslip are effectively

cut off. Our car is up that way and this is the only way that we can

is going to lend us a car to get home but we are in trouble and our

car is likely to be stuck here for a long time. It is expected that

Greenpeace campaigners from Devon who have been held in Russia is

expected back in the country from tomorrow. Kieron Bryan, Iain Rogers,

and Alex Harris were arrested after a protest against oil drilling in

the arctic. Charges against them were dropped just before Christmas.

Anti hunt campaigners claim that despite it being nearly ten years

since the ban on hunting with hounds was passed, many hunt supporters are

still deliberately flouting the law. The League Against Cruel Sports has

launched a new campaign film to rekindle awareness of the ban. Pro

hunt supporters also say the ban doesn't work. It is very difficult

for them to go out on a regular basis when dealers such a fine line

between what is legal and what is not. We feel the legislation should

not be the in the first place and we will keep pushing to get it

changed. Say it is not part of the civilised society and it is up to

groups like ours to highlight any threat to the hunting act which is

what we are doing. People have been out across the region today for the

Boxing Day Sales. Many were shopping from six o'clock. Some stores are

reporting record trading. Shopper numbers in Plymouth's Drake Circus

are up by 5% on last year. Despite the growth in online buying many out

today had found good bargains. I like having lots of people around

and trying stuff on. I love the thrill of getting something very

cheap. We saved quite a lot of money. It is cheaper, you save

money, if you want some of the nice stuff, that is the time to come and

get it. It's been a busy day for sport. In football's early kick off

Torquay United remain just outside the relegation zone after drawing at

Plainmoor against Bristol Rovers. The Gulls took the lead after six

minutes when this free kick was handballed. Torquay's John Marquis

scored from the penalty only for Rovers to equalise just before the

half hour. Elsewhere it finished Bournemouth three, Yeovil Town zero.

Cheltenham one, Exeter City zero. Oxford two, Plymouth Argyle three.

In the local rugby derby, the Cornish Pirates beat Plymouth Albion

weather warning for wind where gusts could be reaching up to 70 mph

which will be a concern to those who have had flooding problems of late.

The rain will march into the mainland through tonight and down

through the Channel Islands. All buyers will see some pulses of heavy

rain. That will clear by early tomorrow morning, the exception

being the Channel Islands where it might linger for a while. Into

tomorrow once the early rain clears it will be a blustery day with some
