0:01:07 > 0:01:11To kick us off, Jay's in south-east London.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15He's here to rifle the rubbish of professional garden designer

0:01:15 > 0:01:18and landscaper Danny Clarke.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22Danny is well-known for presenting his own series,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24The Instant Gardener,

0:01:24 > 0:01:29as well as hosting coverage of the iconic Chelsea Flower Show.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31He lives in a top-floor flat

0:01:31 > 0:01:35that's furnished with all manner of eclectic items,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37but where does he keep his rubbish?

0:01:37 > 0:01:39I've been really looking forward to Jay coming here

0:01:39 > 0:01:42because I think we're going to have a lot in common,

0:01:42 > 0:01:46cos I know that he's into upcycling and I'm the same.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50I hope he does find a few little nuggets but, having said that,

0:01:50 > 0:01:54I just hope his eye isn't that keen, if you know what I mean.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56- Hello.- All right, Danny, it's Jay.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58- All right, Jay, I'll let you in. - Cheers, mate.

0:01:58 > 0:02:02Jay's here on the hunt for two items that he can transform

0:02:02 > 0:02:05- and, hopefully, turn into a profit. - How you doing, Danny.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07- Hi, Jay, how are you? Great to see you.- Likewise.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10- Is that one of yours?- It is. That's my garden.

0:02:10 > 0:02:14- But don't tell anyone, will you? - It's looking a bit bleak!

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Mum's the word. Your secret's safe with us.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19- Come in, come in.- Will do.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23This is nice, what you've got in here. It's a bit eclectic, isn't it?

0:02:23 > 0:02:25It is. That's why I was looking forward to you coming around.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27One thing that sticks out to me is that.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30I love bright neon colours and that...

0:02:30 > 0:02:32You've got a plant there as well. Look at that!

0:02:32 > 0:02:33Yeah, don't want to be looking at that

0:02:33 > 0:02:36because that's looking a bit sad, so we don't want to be going into that.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38I thought you were a gardener!

0:02:38 > 0:02:40Let's talk about the neon light instead, shall we,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42and how lovely that colour is?

0:02:42 > 0:02:44THEY LAUGH

0:02:44 > 0:02:47- How long have you been doing the gardening?- 20 years.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50- I started off maintaining gardens. - Right.

0:02:50 > 0:02:54Then, from maintaining gardens, I always liked design,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57so I enrolled at a college and did a design course

0:02:57 > 0:02:59and that gave me the confidence to be a designer.

0:02:59 > 0:03:04It's a bit like interior decorating. Someone wants their interior redone.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06I go in and I redo people's gardens.

0:03:06 > 0:03:10- So, you're an interior decorator outside.- Exactly.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12Well, I hope YOU followed that.

0:03:12 > 0:03:16Right, Jay, let's get the trash search started.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19- Here we are, Jay. This is the spare room.- That's nice.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22What's the story behind the trunk then? I've got my eye on that.

0:03:22 > 0:03:26I thought you might have your eye on that, somehow!

0:03:26 > 0:03:29- I've got to have a look, haven't I? - He was a client of mine.- Yeah.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31- He basically didn't want it. - He was throwing that out?

0:03:31 > 0:03:33He was throwing it out.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37This was a few years ago and, yeah, just goes to show.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40I could see a few things in here that I've got my eye on.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43- I want to have a...- I tell you what. Let's go and look in the other room.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46- I've got something else to show you. - OK, all right.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50With the trunk staying put for now,

0:03:50 > 0:03:53there's plenty more places for Jay to rummage.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58I do like this. Leather suitcase.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02Looks like he's hiding all the good stuff away from me.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04There's a nice chest underneath there.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07Maybe we should move away from the antiques

0:04:07 > 0:04:10and look for something more up your street, Jay.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12It's very nice.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15- So, Danny, in this room...- Yeah.

0:04:15 > 0:04:20I've had a good little look, but this is the baby. Not the suitcases.

0:04:20 > 0:04:24- That one.- Not this?- No, no, not that.- Oh, THAT!- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27It's not getting used, is it? What's the story behind that?

0:04:27 > 0:04:28That's my dad's old rocking chair.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31- Seriously?! - Yeah, it's from the '70s.

0:04:33 > 0:04:34Since Danny moved house,

0:04:34 > 0:04:38he's struggled to find a place for his dad's old chair.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43- You can have that with my blessings. - Thank you, sir. That's very kind.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45Jay is in luck.

0:04:46 > 0:04:50This rocking chair - it's a rocking chair that's not rocking any more.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53It's just stuffed in the corner, but the potential it's got is amazing.

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Little bit of effort, it's going to be a winner and rocking again.

0:04:56 > 0:05:02Jay has his first item in the bag - Danny's dad's old rocker.

0:05:05 > 0:05:10From smart suburbia to a rural retreat just outside Bristol.

0:05:10 > 0:05:14Sarah is about to begin her rummage for rubbish

0:05:14 > 0:05:16and eagerly awaiting her arrival

0:05:16 > 0:05:21is wildlife TV presenter and author Miranda Krestovnikoff.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24Miranda's one of the original presenters

0:05:24 > 0:05:27of the BBC nature programme Coast.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Good girl! Come on then!

0:05:29 > 0:05:34She's also a roving wildlife reporter on the One Show.

0:05:34 > 0:05:35Bring it here.

0:05:35 > 0:05:40A keen upcycler herself, she is very excited about Sarah's arrival.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42Drop it. Good girl.

0:05:42 > 0:05:43Sort of excited and slightly terrified.

0:05:43 > 0:05:45We're having building work done at the moment,

0:05:45 > 0:05:48so the place is an absolute tip, but I'm sure she'll find

0:05:48 > 0:05:51something exciting and go, "Wow, that's going to be amazing!"

0:05:51 > 0:05:53So, I think there's quite a lot of stuff lying around

0:05:53 > 0:05:55that she'll probably quite like.

0:05:55 > 0:05:59Two celebrities with a love of the great outdoors,

0:05:59 > 0:06:01but will Sarah match Jay

0:06:01 > 0:06:05in the search for two transformable trash items?

0:06:05 > 0:06:08- Hi, there.- Hi, how are you doing? - Really well. Nice to see you.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10- Come on in.- Thank you.

0:06:12 > 0:06:13Your dog is so sweet.

0:06:15 > 0:06:18Miranda's home was originally built in the 1930s

0:06:18 > 0:06:21and was derelict when she and her husband, Nick,

0:06:21 > 0:06:23bought the place 12 years ago.

0:06:23 > 0:06:28It's now home to their two children, along with German shepherd Nanook.

0:06:28 > 0:06:31Oh, sorry, we'll keep the noise down.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34- So, sitting room.- Lovely room, isn't it?- Yeah, very light.- Beautiful.

0:06:34 > 0:06:38- We're very lucky we face the sun. - I see you bring your work home.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41I just love collecting weird stuff to do with animals

0:06:41 > 0:06:45and also, if I do talks to children, it's really fun to say,

0:06:45 > 0:06:48"And this is a mammoth bone and this is a deer antler", or something.

0:06:48 > 0:06:52Yeah, that is a mammoth bone. And feel the weight of this.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54That's a molar from a mammoth, and that's a small one,

0:06:54 > 0:06:57so imagine a having a mouth full of teeth like that.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59That's quite frightening.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02You'd soon get sick to the back teeth with a mouth full of those.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04This room is beautiful but, clearly,

0:07:04 > 0:07:06there's not much in here that's going to be leaving, is there?

0:07:06 > 0:07:08I'm really sorry.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10Yeah, I do have a couple of tricks up my sleeve, so come this way.

0:07:10 > 0:07:12Brilliant, thank you.

0:07:12 > 0:07:16Heading outside, Miranda has a hideaway shipping container,

0:07:16 > 0:07:18full of old cast-offs.

0:07:18 > 0:07:21Though I'm not sure how you get THAT up your sleeve!

0:07:22 > 0:07:27- Come on in.- Oh, the Aladdin's cave. - It really is, yeah.

0:07:27 > 0:07:31This is ten years of junk and building materials.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33It's going to go one day,

0:07:33 > 0:07:37but you're welcome to pretty much anything you can find in here.

0:07:37 > 0:07:42Sarah can't pass up an opportunity for a really good rummage.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45No, don't sit down!

0:07:46 > 0:07:47Could be good.

0:07:47 > 0:07:52Lots to look at but nothing to be found. But all is not lost.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55Miranda has an idea.

0:07:55 > 0:07:58So, there's this beautiful old bench.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00There's a bit of a story behind this one.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02The last but one house that we bought, this was in the garden

0:08:02 > 0:08:05when we bought the house, but it's just been sitting there.

0:08:05 > 0:08:07It's actually a really beautiful thing.

0:08:07 > 0:08:10The fact somebody took the time to design something so beautiful

0:08:10 > 0:08:13that may have just been in a park or something, makes it really special.

0:08:13 > 0:08:14And you can tell it's heavyweight

0:08:14 > 0:08:16and it's definitely got some age to it.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18If you can make something really special out of it,

0:08:18 > 0:08:21- you're welcome to it.- That's thrown down the gauntlet, hasn't it?

0:08:21 > 0:08:23- I love a challenge.- On the condition that you make something

0:08:23 > 0:08:25really, really good, you can have it. No pressure.

0:08:25 > 0:08:27To rescue that and revamp it, I'd love to.

0:08:27 > 0:08:30- Could be exciting, couldn't it? - You can tell immediately, can't you?

0:08:30 > 0:08:33- Give me your bench! - Well, you got excited about it,

0:08:33 > 0:08:36so, that would be good. I'd like to see what you could do with that.

0:08:36 > 0:08:39Sarah's first item is the wobbly garden seat.

0:08:39 > 0:08:42Look at that. What a beautiful bench.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44Miranda might not be keen on doing it up,

0:08:44 > 0:08:47but I think it's a challenge I just can't wait to take on.

0:08:49 > 0:08:54We're up and running. But what will she do with that old thing?

0:08:59 > 0:09:04Back in south-east London, having thoroughly searched Danny's flat,

0:09:04 > 0:09:10Jay still has one item to find and there's just one last place to look.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13- You've got some goodies in here for me?- I have got some in here for you.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16- I think you're going to be very impressed.- Oh!- Not a lot.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20With limited storage space inside his flat,

0:09:20 > 0:09:24Danny rents a storage unit a short distance away.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27Cor blimey! I see something straightaway.

0:09:27 > 0:09:30- Ooh!- What, that?- What's that?

0:09:30 > 0:09:32- This is a headboard. - It's a headboard?

0:09:32 > 0:09:34- Yeah, but you can't have that, I'm afraid.- Oh, is it?

0:09:34 > 0:09:38- Yeah, so put your eyes away. - Oh, man! What about that?

0:09:38 > 0:09:40- Is that part of the headboard as well?- What, this?- Yeah.- Yes.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43- This is the end bit, that's the headboard.- OK.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46Gardening stuff, you can't take, but there's a lawnmower there.

0:09:46 > 0:09:50- You can take it.- A lawnmower. - You're very welcome to it, yeah.- OK.

0:09:50 > 0:09:54Don't be too enthusiastic, Jay. Keep looking.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56I'm sure you'll find something else.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58- Is that a strimmer? - That's a strimmer.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00- What's it sitting on? - It's sitting on a table.

0:10:00 > 0:10:04- On a table. Is that what that is? - Yeah, sitting on a table.- Nice.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06The story behind that is that's a table

0:10:06 > 0:10:09- I couldn't get in the flat cos the legs won't come off.- Oh.

0:10:09 > 0:10:15- It's been made in one piece.- Right. - So, you're quite welcome to have it.

0:10:15 > 0:10:20A solid pine table that, luckily for Jay, wouldn't fit in Danny's flat.

0:10:20 > 0:10:24Time to dig it out. Shouldn't be a problem for a gardener.

0:10:24 > 0:10:26- There's quite a bit here. - There is quite a bit.

0:10:27 > 0:10:32Jay, it's just the table we're taking. Jay, come back!

0:10:35 > 0:10:38You've got so much gardening stuff. It's unbelievable!

0:10:38 > 0:10:40At last!

0:10:40 > 0:10:43- That's a solid bit of table, isn't it?- It's lovely, isn't it?

0:10:43 > 0:10:46- I must admit, I really like it. - Strong as well.

0:10:46 > 0:10:48It's had all of that on top of there.

0:10:48 > 0:10:51- Yeah, so you know it's going to last.- One consolation.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54I'll take this off your hands, cos you said I can have it.

0:10:54 > 0:10:55- You can have it. - That's very kind.- Yeah.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58- And I'll move all this stuff back. - I'll see you later.- All right.

0:10:58 > 0:11:01- I'll be down the pub. - THEY LAUGH

0:11:03 > 0:11:08Jay's found his second item - a solid pine table.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11Wow, what's not to love about a tried and tested table?

0:11:11 > 0:11:13Solid as a rock.

0:11:13 > 0:11:15All it needs now is a little bit of creativity

0:11:15 > 0:11:17and then it's ready to go again.

0:11:17 > 0:11:19I'm so happy with this one.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22Bravo, Jay.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25- Danny, nice one for having me. - Great meeting you.- Yeah.

0:11:25 > 0:11:28And I'm sure you're going to make great use of the stuff

0:11:28 > 0:11:31- that you've taken from me today! - Taken? You GAVE it to me!- Oh, did I?

0:11:31 > 0:11:34- Yes, you did.- OK, I'm looking forward to seeing the end product.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37- OK.- And you'll be back shortly, I take it.- Course I will.- Great.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40- Take care. Take care, mate. - All right. Be lucky.

0:11:40 > 0:11:41- Yeah, and you.- All right.

0:11:41 > 0:11:45I'm really looking forward to seeing what he comes back with.

0:11:45 > 0:11:48It makes my mind boggle cos I think the guy's very imaginative

0:11:48 > 0:11:51and I'm sure he's going to put an interesting twist

0:11:51 > 0:11:53on the items that he's taken away today.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56Jay's hunt is over.

0:11:56 > 0:12:02He's taken Danny's dad's rocking chair and the pine kitchen table.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05What's he going to do with them? Who knows?

0:12:07 > 0:12:12Back in Somerset, Sarah is still searching for a second item.

0:12:12 > 0:12:13Can you do anything with a futon?

0:12:13 > 0:12:15I'm sure things could be done with it

0:12:15 > 0:12:18but I'm wondering if you've got stuff that's really broken.

0:12:18 > 0:12:22- Not the futon then.- Not the futon. - I thought you'd go for the futon.

0:12:22 > 0:12:24She's already laid claim to the wobbly seat,

0:12:24 > 0:12:27so there's just one more item to find.

0:12:27 > 0:12:31- Here's the kitchen...- Wow! - ..where we spend all our time.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33- Is this the heart of the home? - It is.

0:12:33 > 0:12:34You look and see a room like this

0:12:34 > 0:12:36and think you've got to be spending time...

0:12:36 > 0:12:39Also, we sit around the table and you can look out onto the garden

0:12:39 > 0:12:42and the pond and there's loads of wildlife out there.

0:12:42 > 0:12:43I'm a very outdoor person as well.

0:12:43 > 0:12:45I'd spend my life outdoors, if I could,

0:12:45 > 0:12:48so we try and bring as much of that into the house as possible.

0:12:48 > 0:12:54Miranda has one last thing that she thinks might be worth "chicken" out.

0:12:54 > 0:12:56There's this. It's an old door.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59There was a big workshop here when we moved in

0:12:59 > 0:13:01and, obviously, we just took it off,

0:13:01 > 0:13:04but it's just used to protect the wood underneath, keep it all dry.

0:13:04 > 0:13:08- I don't know if it's rotten though. - Maybe some of it has gone.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10That's probably gone but, certainly,

0:13:10 > 0:13:14- a couple of the planks seem to be OK.- Shall we risk it?

0:13:14 > 0:13:16Well, we could pick it up and see if it falls apart.

0:13:17 > 0:13:22OK... Wow! That middle timber's gone, hasn't it?

0:13:24 > 0:13:28The bits on it that are looking solid should be reusable.

0:13:28 > 0:13:29The hinges are great.

0:13:29 > 0:13:32The door furniture is beautiful so, if you're not going

0:13:32 > 0:13:34to do anything with it, I'd love to try and save it.

0:13:34 > 0:13:38- If you can lift it out of here in one piece, you can have it.- May I?

0:13:38 > 0:13:41- If you want it, yeah.- I'd love it. Thank you. Pop it back down.

0:13:43 > 0:13:46Oh, that's surely at death's door! What is she thinking?

0:13:46 > 0:13:48SARAH TAPS ON THE WOOD

0:13:48 > 0:13:50Is that profit knocking?

0:13:50 > 0:13:54I'm not sure, because this door is in a terrible state,

0:13:54 > 0:13:57but there are some elements about it that are absolutely beautiful,

0:13:57 > 0:13:59so I'm going to take the best bits

0:13:59 > 0:14:01and I'm going to give this just one last chance.

0:14:02 > 0:14:04- Thank you for today. - It's been really fun!

0:14:04 > 0:14:06I've had a really good time.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08I never thought I'd end up in your laurel bush

0:14:08 > 0:14:10but that was one of the best bits for me.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12- Thanks so much.- Take care.- Bye.- Bye.

0:14:14 > 0:14:16Are you coming with me? Come on then.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19She completely surprised me with the things that she liked.

0:14:19 > 0:14:22The things I thought she might take, she wasn't that interested in.

0:14:22 > 0:14:25So, it's going to be quite exciting when she comes back.

0:14:25 > 0:14:30Sarah's picked a rickety park bench and a discarded old door.

0:14:30 > 0:14:35Will she be able to transform her chosen trash into treasure?

0:14:38 > 0:14:41In a rainy Wolverhampton, Jay is about to start work

0:14:41 > 0:14:44on Danny's old rocking chair.

0:14:44 > 0:14:45So, what's the plan, Jay?

0:14:48 > 0:14:50I got this rocking chair from Danny.

0:14:50 > 0:14:52I love rocking chairs, but this one is brown.

0:14:52 > 0:14:56There's nothing wrong with brown, but it's a bit dated.

0:14:56 > 0:15:00What I'm intending to do with this is give it a zing and a pop,

0:15:00 > 0:15:04add some modernisation to it, but also, adding that Danny twist to it.

0:15:04 > 0:15:08Ah, that good old zing, pop, Danny twist!

0:15:10 > 0:15:12First things first.

0:15:12 > 0:15:15I'm planning to upholster the seat and also the back.

0:15:15 > 0:15:17But what I need to do first is take the chair apart

0:15:17 > 0:15:19to see what I'm working with.

0:15:19 > 0:15:22Danny's rocking chair is actually a model

0:15:22 > 0:15:24known as the bentwood rocker,

0:15:24 > 0:15:27and it's claimed the style originated in Austria

0:15:27 > 0:15:29in the mid-19th century.

0:15:29 > 0:15:33For me, this is my favourite bit. It's picking the fabric.

0:15:33 > 0:15:37So here, you've got brown against brown. Hmm, doesn't really work.

0:15:37 > 0:15:41If I was to pick something that was lighter, that contrast just works.

0:15:41 > 0:15:45Some lovely birds on there. Or lovely grey. That works sometimes.

0:15:45 > 0:15:49Or even, look at that red. That's popping!

0:15:49 > 0:15:54But, for me, and a link back to Danny, cos he's a gardener,

0:15:54 > 0:15:55look at that.

0:15:55 > 0:15:57That is so cool.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00Definitely have to use flowers, cos he's a gardener.

0:16:03 > 0:16:07Before Jay can re-cover the seat, the old material has to be removed.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12To comply with fire safety regulations,

0:16:12 > 0:16:17the old foam is replaced and a layer of Dacron is glued to the top.

0:16:23 > 0:16:26Dacron gives you that extra bit of comfort,

0:16:26 > 0:16:30that nice little layer, so when you sit down, ooh, it's nice and cosy.

0:16:31 > 0:16:34When upholstering, tension is everything.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37I don't mean being on edge.

0:16:38 > 0:16:43I mean how taut the fabric is pulled across the surface of the seat.

0:16:44 > 0:16:46That's all done now.

0:16:46 > 0:16:47Normally, what I like to do

0:16:47 > 0:16:50is have a bit of something different on the back,

0:16:50 > 0:16:52so I'm obviously going to go for a contrast,

0:16:52 > 0:16:54and I'm going for a yellow.

0:16:54 > 0:16:58The yellow is in the same fabric but, against the brown...

0:16:59 > 0:17:01..I think that's going to look awesome.

0:17:01 > 0:17:03Yeah, that's the one.

0:17:06 > 0:17:11And, in a moment of inspiration, Jay's spotted another opportunity.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14I'm going to be spraying this, which is part of the chair,

0:17:14 > 0:17:17and I'm going to be spraying it in a beautiful vibrant orange,

0:17:17 > 0:17:20which is inspired by Danny's lamp in his flat.

0:17:20 > 0:17:22Let's get going, eh?

0:17:22 > 0:17:27For the piece de resistance, a splash of subtle neon orange.

0:17:27 > 0:17:30I do hope you know what you're doing, Jay.

0:17:30 > 0:17:36Jay's spent £42.07 on the fabric, foam and spray paint.

0:17:36 > 0:17:39If his enthusiasm is anything to go by,

0:17:39 > 0:17:43this chair will be rocking again in no time,

0:17:43 > 0:17:45provided he can put it all back together again.

0:17:51 > 0:17:54While Jay does what he does best,

0:17:54 > 0:17:57Danny's table has made it to east London,

0:17:57 > 0:18:00ready for its very own makeover.

0:18:01 > 0:18:05And who better to take it on than Daniel Heath?

0:18:08 > 0:18:12Daniel has a passion for all things salvaged and sustainable.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14He's an award-winning wallpaper designer

0:18:14 > 0:18:18who loves adding an artistic flair to bespoke furniture.

0:18:18 > 0:18:21My style is quite illustrative.

0:18:21 > 0:18:25There's always a lot of drawing in my work, whether it's going

0:18:25 > 0:18:29onto textiles or wallpaper or onto surfaces or furniture.

0:18:29 > 0:18:33Yeah, it's not really work. It is my passion, it is my life.

0:18:33 > 0:18:37I think anyone who makes anything has to try and live it.

0:18:37 > 0:18:38Yeah, I really enjoy it.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41He's committed,

0:18:41 > 0:18:44but I reckon this table's going to put him to the test.

0:18:45 > 0:18:48PHONE RINGS

0:18:49 > 0:18:52- Hello, Jay, how are you doing?- How you doing, Daniel? You all right?

0:18:52 > 0:18:54I'm good, thanks, I'm good.

0:18:54 > 0:18:57Jay's calling to agree a plan of action.

0:18:57 > 0:19:01Yeah, OK. Yeah, right.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04- I think it's going well.- OK, great.

0:19:04 > 0:19:08Well, I'm glad that's sorted. So, what's the plan?

0:19:08 > 0:19:13Jay had mentioned this idea about making it look different

0:19:13 > 0:19:17when it's set than when it's unset, which I think is fun.

0:19:17 > 0:19:21So, what I've got is just an enamel bowl

0:19:21 > 0:19:25and I'm just going to lay these out,

0:19:25 > 0:19:28just for a guide, and see if it works.

0:19:28 > 0:19:33Jay's nifty idea is to screen print onto the table top.

0:19:33 > 0:19:36He wants the pattern to include the place settings

0:19:36 > 0:19:37as part of the design.

0:19:37 > 0:19:40Daniel has already cleverly covered the top of the table

0:19:40 > 0:19:42with plain brown paper,

0:19:42 > 0:19:46which allows him to draw without damaging the surface.

0:19:46 > 0:19:49Don't know whether I'm going to do something geometric on this

0:19:49 > 0:19:51or do something nature-based.

0:19:51 > 0:19:54I'm quite into natural things at the moment.

0:19:54 > 0:19:57But obviously it's more complicated to do that with a stencil.

0:19:57 > 0:20:03I'm just going to try drawing a few basic ideas.

0:20:05 > 0:20:06Judging from these leaves,

0:20:06 > 0:20:09I'd say we're starting with the nature-based idea.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14I think I've got my mind set on doing some stencilling

0:20:14 > 0:20:17instead of creating a dedicated silkscreen.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20I'll still screen print the ink through

0:20:20 > 0:20:24but the actual pattern will be hand-cut out of the stencil,

0:20:24 > 0:20:26so it will e a complete one-off.

0:20:26 > 0:20:31Nice floral design, but do you know what I think would finish it off?

0:20:31 > 0:20:33A little bit of fruit.

0:20:33 > 0:20:35I'm just drawing some lemons.

0:20:35 > 0:20:38As always, a step ahead of me, Daniel.

0:20:38 > 0:20:40But isn't that a lime?

0:20:40 > 0:20:42They look like limes cos I'm using the green pen,

0:20:42 > 0:20:46but that's just so that I can differentiate between the lemons

0:20:46 > 0:20:48and all the foliage that I've drawn,

0:20:48 > 0:20:51because the lemons are going to be a different colour.

0:20:51 > 0:20:52They're going to be yellow.

0:20:52 > 0:20:54Brilliant idea!

0:20:54 > 0:20:58Jay and Daniel agreed a budget of £280

0:20:58 > 0:21:01to turn around Danny's old table.

0:21:01 > 0:21:03But when they come to sell it,

0:21:03 > 0:21:08will that leafy design prove that money really does grow on trees?

0:21:10 > 0:21:12With Jay's items well under way,

0:21:12 > 0:21:15in West Sussex, it's time for Sarah

0:21:15 > 0:21:19to turn her attention to Miranda's old garden bench.

0:21:21 > 0:21:24Well, it's a super chunky garden bench.

0:21:24 > 0:21:26It's old and it's just not fit for purpose any more,

0:21:26 > 0:21:29and I'd really like t give it an update that will bring it

0:21:29 > 0:21:31in from the cold and make it into something you have inside

0:21:31 > 0:21:35but is luxurious, welcoming and beautiful.

0:21:35 > 0:21:37First job, take it apart.

0:21:37 > 0:21:42What Sarah's actually hoping to make from this rotten old bench

0:21:42 > 0:21:46is an upholstered seat, suitable for use inside.

0:21:47 > 0:21:50Guess what - they're really tight. They are going to be all rusted on.

0:21:50 > 0:21:52I can tell already.

0:21:52 > 0:21:55Do we have a plan B? A saw, perhaps.

0:21:57 > 0:22:01I don't think this is working. Oh, Bramble!

0:22:03 > 0:22:05I don't think she's going to help.

0:22:05 > 0:22:08Having eventually dismantled the bench,

0:22:08 > 0:22:11it's time to reveal its old green paint.

0:22:11 > 0:22:14It's going to be a fine line exposing

0:22:14 > 0:22:16as much of that green as possible,

0:22:16 > 0:22:18but leaving the lovely patina of the bench.

0:22:18 > 0:22:20I certainly don't want to make it look new.

0:22:20 > 0:22:22Ooh, no! That would be wrong!

0:22:23 > 0:22:25Just want to check how it's going to look.

0:22:25 > 0:22:28I've got a bit of clear wax on here. It's made it really bright.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31The wax has sealed in all of that lovely colour.

0:22:31 > 0:22:34It means, if it's in somebody's house, they can dust it.

0:22:34 > 0:22:37It will be clean and nice to live with.

0:22:37 > 0:22:40Not all of the original wood turned out to be rotten,

0:22:40 > 0:22:44so some of it cam be reused once Sarah's cut it to size.

0:22:44 > 0:22:46To put the bench back together,

0:22:46 > 0:22:51all that's left to do is drill some new holes for the bolts.

0:22:51 > 0:22:52And voila!

0:22:54 > 0:22:57Ah, that looks really sweet!

0:22:57 > 0:23:00It IS sweet, Sarah, but isn't that just like the bench

0:23:00 > 0:23:02but a bit smaller?

0:23:02 > 0:23:04Right, upholstery time.

0:23:06 > 0:23:09Fireproof calico - very important.

0:23:10 > 0:23:14As well as fireproof calico, Sarah's wrapping the salvaged slats

0:23:14 > 0:23:18with upholstery foam filling, so at least it might be comfy.

0:23:18 > 0:23:20Is this going to work?

0:23:22 > 0:23:23No idea.

0:23:23 > 0:23:26I'm actually going to upholster each slat individually

0:23:26 > 0:23:28because I want it to look cool

0:23:28 > 0:23:31but I also want it to look reminiscent of an old garden bench.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35I don't think you've got any problems there, Sarah.

0:23:40 > 0:23:42- I think it's going to work. - Well, let's hope so.

0:23:42 > 0:23:46Sarah's spent £100 on materials to convert the bench

0:23:46 > 0:23:51into an indoor mini bench, otherwise known as...

0:23:51 > 0:23:52a chair, I suppose.

0:23:55 > 0:23:58With Sarah taking care of the garden bench,

0:23:58 > 0:24:02it's time for Miranda's other item, the large wooden door,

0:24:02 > 0:24:04to receive some love and attention.

0:24:04 > 0:24:07And who better to lavish that love

0:24:07 > 0:24:11on a mouldy old door than EJ Osborne?

0:24:12 > 0:24:15Woodworking warrior EJ uses simple tools

0:24:15 > 0:24:19and traditional methods to create handmade utensils and furniture

0:24:19 > 0:24:24that will stand the test of time and become more beautiful with age -

0:24:24 > 0:24:26like myself.

0:24:27 > 0:24:32So, what I do is mainly obsession, lots of love

0:24:32 > 0:24:36and a little bit of a job, um, yeah.

0:24:36 > 0:24:37And a lot of fun.

0:24:38 > 0:24:41I don't know what I'd be doing if I wasn't doing this.

0:24:41 > 0:24:45I think this is all I ever want to do

0:24:45 > 0:24:50and I can't possibly imagine a life where I don't make stuff.

0:24:50 > 0:24:52EJ loves a challenge,

0:24:52 > 0:24:56but will the door that Sarah salvaged be a step too far?

0:24:56 > 0:24:59Oh, my goodness!

0:24:59 > 0:25:02Oh...what have we got here?

0:25:02 > 0:25:04It's a really old...

0:25:05 > 0:25:08..rather rotten...door.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11PHONE RINGS

0:25:11 > 0:25:15- Hello?- EJ, hi, it's Sarah. - Hi, Sarah, how are you?

0:25:15 > 0:25:18- Really well, how are you doing? - I'm good.

0:25:18 > 0:25:22I'm just standing here looking at the massive door!

0:25:22 > 0:25:26- Sarah, what is this? - HE LAUGHS

0:25:26 > 0:25:28You were right first time, EJ.

0:25:28 > 0:25:33It's a massive rotten old door, but Sarah has a few ideas.

0:25:33 > 0:25:37Um...well, that may not work.

0:25:37 > 0:25:39Well, don't worry.

0:25:39 > 0:25:42I'm sure EJ has something special up his sleeve.

0:25:42 > 0:25:45I'd better get cracking, Sarah, cos there's a lot to be done.

0:25:45 > 0:25:49- OK, we'll catch up soon. - All right, bye.- Bye.- Bye.

0:25:51 > 0:25:54So, I'm going to make a dressing screen

0:25:54 > 0:25:58and I'm going to chop all that wood up and I'm going to use it

0:25:58 > 0:26:02as decorations in the style of shingles.

0:26:02 > 0:26:06Wooden shingles are thin, tapered pieces of wood,

0:26:06 > 0:26:09usually used to cover roofs and walls of buildings.

0:26:09 > 0:26:11First things first.

0:26:11 > 0:26:14All those rusty nails need to be removed,

0:26:14 > 0:26:19as well as the metalwork, which is carefully taken off to be reused.

0:26:19 > 0:26:22As these are bracket hinges,

0:26:22 > 0:26:28they have these lovely readymade holes.

0:26:28 > 0:26:33Somehow, I think I may make some kind of rack.

0:26:33 > 0:26:38Something through here, going across, like a pole, maybe.

0:26:38 > 0:26:41You can take your clothes off and hang them over.

0:26:41 > 0:26:46These...I'm going to use if it kills me.

0:26:47 > 0:26:52Having taken the door to pieces and discarded all the rotten bits,

0:26:52 > 0:26:55EJ's left with a surprising amount of usable timber

0:26:55 > 0:27:00which, given a light sanding and cut into manageable lengths,

0:27:00 > 0:27:04is then sliced thinly, ready to make into the shingles.

0:27:07 > 0:27:11Look at that! Oh, my goodness!

0:27:11 > 0:27:15- You see, I thought... - HE BRUSHES THE WOOD

0:27:15 > 0:27:18..that the inside was going to be less interesting

0:27:18 > 0:27:20than the outside but, actually,

0:27:20 > 0:27:24not only is it fresh and clean, but it's a woodworker's dream.

0:27:24 > 0:27:27If you say so, EJ.

0:27:27 > 0:27:30Sarah has agreed a budget of £150

0:27:30 > 0:27:34for EJ to create his glamorous dressing screen,

0:27:34 > 0:27:36but with lots still to do,

0:27:36 > 0:27:39will he be able to bring it in on budget?

0:27:40 > 0:27:43In Wolverhampton, it's time to catch up with Jay

0:27:43 > 0:27:47and discover what's become of Danny's dad's old rocking chair.

0:27:47 > 0:27:51What I had was an old brown rocking chair that wasn't being used,

0:27:51 > 0:27:54and what I've done is I've added a hint of me

0:27:54 > 0:27:57with a touch of Danny and a splash of colour.

0:27:57 > 0:28:04When Jay found the chair, its rocking days were over. But now...

0:28:06 > 0:28:10..Jay's bold design has brought this old rocker centre stage.

0:28:10 > 0:28:14The modern floral fabric compliments the original wood

0:28:14 > 0:28:19which, after a buff and polish, has given it a sophisticate update.

0:28:20 > 0:28:25A splash of neon orange accentuates the curvaceous design

0:28:25 > 0:28:29and a hint of yellow on the back brings real personality.

0:28:29 > 0:28:32But will it have buyers flocking to snap it up?

0:28:34 > 0:28:36It's looking beautiful.

0:28:36 > 0:28:38Well, I'm glad you think so, Jay.

0:28:38 > 0:28:41You've just got to find somebody else who thinks so, too.

0:28:43 > 0:28:45And that someone is the owner

0:28:45 > 0:28:48of Complete Lighting & Living in Essex, Amanda.

0:28:48 > 0:28:51I really love Jay's rocking chair

0:28:51 > 0:28:53and I think we'll sell it really quickly.

0:28:53 > 0:28:55That's great news.

0:28:55 > 0:28:59Jay's first item is sold, but how much profit has he made?

0:29:04 > 0:29:07In the East End of London, Jay's second item,

0:29:07 > 0:29:11Danny's redundant dining table, was left with Daniel.

0:29:12 > 0:29:14Well, at least we know it's been dusted down.

0:29:15 > 0:29:18I'm here to pick up Danny's table from Daniel.

0:29:18 > 0:29:20I had a few out-there ideas but I wonder if he's done them

0:29:20 > 0:29:22or if he's come up with his own.

0:29:22 > 0:29:23I had fun with this table.

0:29:23 > 0:29:26It came to me and there wasn't really a lot we could do

0:29:26 > 0:29:28to take it away from being what it was,

0:29:28 > 0:29:30but we could add some fun and some colour.

0:29:30 > 0:29:32I don't think it's going to be what he expected,

0:29:32 > 0:29:35but we'll see his reaction when he arrives.

0:29:37 > 0:29:41Danny's table was a solid but dull piece of furniture

0:29:41 > 0:29:43when Jay rescued it from storage.

0:29:45 > 0:29:47Take a look at that though!

0:29:47 > 0:29:49It's certainly anything but dull.

0:29:49 > 0:29:53Daniel has sanded down the original surfaces,

0:29:53 > 0:29:56pained on a geometric design in pastel shades

0:29:56 > 0:30:00and given the table a light, bright, energetic vibe.

0:30:02 > 0:30:07- Woohoo! Now, that...that's a party. How you doing, sir?- Good.

0:30:07 > 0:30:09- You've had fun with this one, haven't you?- Yeah.

0:30:09 > 0:30:12- It's an ice cream. - What kind of ice cream is that?

0:30:12 > 0:30:15- You know, you're on holiday in Mexico.- OK, cool.

0:30:15 > 0:30:17Having a good time.

0:30:17 > 0:30:18Never mind the dancing, Daniel.

0:30:18 > 0:30:21What happened to the floral design you promised?

0:30:21 > 0:30:23Yeah, we had a bit of a disaster.

0:30:23 > 0:30:26I had sort of an organic vine pattern

0:30:26 > 0:30:29that I was drawing on it and we cut it all out the stencil,

0:30:29 > 0:30:33- printed it and it just didn't look right.- OK.

0:30:33 > 0:30:36It just looked too...boring.

0:30:36 > 0:30:39What it does is it makes me smile, and that's good.

0:30:39 > 0:30:44- I think furniture's supposed to do that.- Yes. And unapologetically fun.

0:30:44 > 0:30:48- The other thing is, have we come in on budget?- We have, yeah.

0:30:48 > 0:30:53The budget was £280 and it was just a lot of sanding, but it was fine.

0:30:53 > 0:30:59- We had to buy the paints and things but, yeah, good.- Cool.- OK.

0:30:59 > 0:31:01- I'm sorted. All right.- Great.

0:31:01 > 0:31:03- I'm going to see you soon. - Yeah, see you soon.

0:31:04 > 0:31:07I'm glad Jay found the fun in that piece

0:31:07 > 0:31:11and knew that we were just trying to do something that was fun

0:31:11 > 0:31:15and I hope it brings someone some joy anyway.

0:31:15 > 0:31:17So, it's good.

0:31:17 > 0:31:19See, that's what it's all about - having fun.

0:31:19 > 0:31:22If you're not having fun, there's something wrong,

0:31:22 > 0:31:25and Daniel definitely achieved that with that table.

0:31:25 > 0:31:28Wasn't what I was expecting but it's everything what I wanted.

0:31:29 > 0:31:33Jay was quick to get the fun Mexican-themed table online.

0:31:33 > 0:31:38As soon as the pictures were posted, he had a buyer all lined up.

0:31:38 > 0:31:43And where else would a Mexican-themed table be more at home

0:31:43 > 0:31:45than a Mexican-themed restaurant

0:31:45 > 0:31:47in Mexican-sounding Guildford?

0:31:49 > 0:31:52Owner Miguel couldn't be more pleased.

0:31:52 > 0:31:53Absolutely love the table.

0:31:53 > 0:31:56I think it's really nice - the fact that it's colourful, big,

0:31:56 > 0:31:58it fits up to six people -

0:31:58 > 0:32:01so I think it's going to bring a lot of people in to sit down together.

0:32:01 > 0:32:04I do like a happy ending.

0:32:07 > 0:32:10Jay's done his sums and it's time to let Danny know

0:32:10 > 0:32:13how he got on with his rocking chair and table.

0:32:13 > 0:32:17I wasn't surprised by the items he took away

0:32:17 > 0:32:19because he's got beady eyes

0:32:19 > 0:32:21and I think he wanted to take away everything.

0:32:21 > 0:32:25I was happy for him to take the rocking chair

0:32:25 > 0:32:27and I was happy for him to take the table

0:32:27 > 0:32:29and I'm really looking forward to seeing

0:32:29 > 0:32:31what he's going to do with them.

0:32:31 > 0:32:33I hope Danny's partial to Mexican influences,

0:32:33 > 0:32:35otherwise this could be a bit awkward.

0:32:35 > 0:32:38- Hi, Jay.- How you doing, Danny? - I'm doing very well. How are you?

0:32:38 > 0:32:40- I'm very good.- Come on in. - All right, mate.

0:32:41 > 0:32:44- How you been, Danny? - I've been keeping very well.- Yeah?

0:32:44 > 0:32:47- How about you?- I've been as busy as a bumblebee in the summer, mate.

0:32:47 > 0:32:50- I like that. I like that.- I thought you might.- Pleased to hear it.

0:32:50 > 0:32:53- So, do you remember your rocking chair?- Oh, wow! Yes.

0:32:53 > 0:32:55This used to be your father's rocking chair, if I'm not mistaken.

0:32:55 > 0:32:58Used to be my father's rocking chair. I really like that.

0:32:58 > 0:33:01You've done a great job. I like it.

0:33:01 > 0:33:03So, I'm pleased to tell you that I've sold this one

0:33:03 > 0:33:08and I got a profit of £182.93 for you.

0:33:08 > 0:33:11- Wow! Brilliant. - Just for the rocking chair.

0:33:11 > 0:33:14- The other item you gave us was the table.- Oh, wow!

0:33:14 > 0:33:18- Do you know what I like about that? - What?- Cos you've been adventurous.

0:33:18 > 0:33:21Yeah. The colours are just, ooh.

0:33:21 > 0:33:23I'm pleased to tell you that we've sold this table as well.

0:33:23 > 0:33:30So, with the two together, you've got a combined profit of £252.93.

0:33:30 > 0:33:32Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

0:33:32 > 0:33:35I've got to get it out of my pocket before I walk away with it

0:33:35 > 0:33:38because you won't get your furniture back, but you'll get the money.

0:33:38 > 0:33:42- And I'll give you the shrapnel. - Give me the shrapnel as well.

0:33:42 > 0:33:45What you going to do with the money? What charity is it going to?

0:33:45 > 0:33:48- The money's going to the Brain Tumour Charity.- Oh, right.

0:33:48 > 0:33:50Yeah, well, basically, I had a sister

0:33:50 > 0:33:54- who died from a brain tumour a few years ago.- Oh, mate.

0:33:54 > 0:33:57So, I thought it would be a nice gesture to give it to there.

0:33:57 > 0:33:59- Now, sir, it's been a pleasure working with you.- Yeah?

0:33:59 > 0:34:02It's been a pleasure seeing you again, and you've done a grand job.

0:34:02 > 0:34:05- You take care and I'll see you soon. - See you again.- All right.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07Take care. Bye.

0:34:07 > 0:34:10I tell you what - he's done a fantastic job.

0:34:10 > 0:34:13I'm really impressed and I'm a bit envious, actually,

0:34:13 > 0:34:15cos I wish I could have thought of those ideas myself.

0:34:17 > 0:34:22Jay was able to sell the dining table for £350.

0:34:22 > 0:34:24With Daniel's costs taken off,

0:34:24 > 0:34:26it left a profit of £70.

0:34:27 > 0:34:30The rocking chair sold for £225.

0:34:30 > 0:34:32Minus Jay's spend,

0:34:32 > 0:34:36it gave him a profit of £182.93.

0:34:36 > 0:34:39Added together, Danny has a total

0:34:39 > 0:34:43of £252.93 to donate

0:34:43 > 0:34:47to the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of his sister.

0:34:49 > 0:34:54With Jay having successfully raised money for a great cause,

0:34:54 > 0:34:56it's Sarah's turn to impress.

0:34:56 > 0:35:00Has she managed to turn Miranda's old rickety garden bench

0:35:00 > 0:35:02into an upholstered beauty?

0:35:02 > 0:35:05I think it looks lovely but I really like pink and green.

0:35:05 > 0:35:07I'll have to see what you think.

0:35:09 > 0:35:13When Sarah claimed the old garden bench, it was rickety,

0:35:13 > 0:35:15rusty and ready for the dump.

0:35:15 > 0:35:17But now...

0:35:18 > 0:35:22..it's a cut-down and compact beauty.

0:35:22 > 0:35:27By shortening the salvageable wooden slats, Sarah's created

0:35:27 > 0:35:31a single seater that's a perfect fit for a space indoors.

0:35:31 > 0:35:34The rough aesthetic of the original metalwork

0:35:34 > 0:35:37contrasts with Sarah's selection of fabrics.

0:35:37 > 0:35:42The graduating shades of pink and fetching florals give a softer,

0:35:42 > 0:35:46homely edge, and a layer of wax has sealed in the patina

0:35:46 > 0:35:48and original paintwork.

0:35:48 > 0:35:51It's unique, but will the buyers love it?

0:35:51 > 0:35:54There aren't many of these around, are there?

0:35:54 > 0:35:57And I'm not sure that's a good thing because I think there might be

0:35:57 > 0:36:00a bit of a trend here - the lovely padded bench.

0:36:00 > 0:36:03It's got some lovely floral fabric. It's got a bit of charm and I hope

0:36:03 > 0:36:06somebody else is going to really like it and give it a proper home.

0:36:06 > 0:36:11Time to take a few snaps to advertise it online.

0:36:13 > 0:36:17Having achieved a new benchmark in garden furniture upholstery,

0:36:17 > 0:36:19will it be snapped up?

0:36:19 > 0:36:22And will there be any profit to return to Miranda?

0:36:26 > 0:36:30With work on the garden bench complete,

0:36:30 > 0:36:33Sarah's in Frome to catch up with EJ

0:36:33 > 0:36:37and see how he got on with the big old rotten door.

0:36:39 > 0:36:42Really excited for Sarah to arrive.

0:36:42 > 0:36:44I really hope she's going to like this.

0:36:45 > 0:36:50Spent quite a lot of time on making something that was completely rotten

0:36:50 > 0:36:54and riddled with nails into something that's really lovely

0:36:54 > 0:36:57and usable so, hopefully, she'll like it.

0:36:58 > 0:37:02I'm here to see EJ and to find out about that big old door.

0:37:02 > 0:37:05I'm really excited cos it had some potential

0:37:05 > 0:37:07but I reckon EJ's had a real task.

0:37:08 > 0:37:12A rotten old door, full of nails and found in undergrowth,

0:37:12 > 0:37:15may not be everyone's idea of raw material.

0:37:15 > 0:37:17But for EJ...

0:37:19 > 0:37:21..it's a match made in heaven.

0:37:21 > 0:37:25Somehow he's managed to use every bit of salvageable timber

0:37:25 > 0:37:28to create this classy dressing screen,

0:37:28 > 0:37:31sanding, sawing and slicing each plank

0:37:31 > 0:37:34to reveal a unique woodgrain pattern

0:37:34 > 0:37:37that he could arrange in a shingle mosaic.

0:37:37 > 0:37:42The original hand-forged metalwork was rescued and put to good use,

0:37:42 > 0:37:46finishing the whole thing off with a creative hanging rail.

0:37:47 > 0:37:50- EJ. - SARAH GASPS

0:37:51 > 0:37:56- Is that it?- That is it.- Oh, my God, that is amazing.- Hi, how are you?

0:37:56 > 0:37:59I'm a lot better now! Talk me through it.

0:37:59 > 0:38:03How much of it is door and how much of it have you added to it?

0:38:03 > 0:38:06So, my theory - when in doubt, when it's really bad,

0:38:06 > 0:38:10just slice it all up. So, that's exactly what I did.

0:38:10 > 0:38:13I didn't expect such a contemporary lovely-looking thing.

0:38:13 > 0:38:17- It's fantastic! Can I look round the back?- Yeah, come and see this.- OK.

0:38:17 > 0:38:21- This is the extra ta-da!- Oh, wow!

0:38:21 > 0:38:25So, a little branch hanging rack for a towel

0:38:25 > 0:38:27or some clothes or something like that.

0:38:27 > 0:38:31It's absolutely beautiful, isn't it? Was it a nightmare?

0:38:31 > 0:38:36Well, mainly, I spent most of my time plucking out nails

0:38:36 > 0:38:40and here's a very few of very many that I plucked out.

0:38:40 > 0:38:42Because they're so corroded,

0:38:42 > 0:38:44they look like they'd have been a nightmare to get out of this.

0:38:44 > 0:38:47They're so old that... These are good ones.

0:38:47 > 0:38:50But when you pluck them out, they kind of, they're very corroded.

0:38:50 > 0:38:52- Yeah, they're all snapping off. - Yeah.

0:38:52 > 0:38:53Well, I'm going to hand these back to you.

0:38:53 > 0:38:55If you want to recycle those, that's great.

0:38:55 > 0:38:59It looks like EJ's nailed it this time.

0:38:59 > 0:39:04But with only £150 to play with, has he nailed the budget too?

0:39:04 > 0:39:07Luckily, I like plucking out nails.

0:39:07 > 0:39:11I find it very relaxing, so that's what I spent most of my time doing.

0:39:11 > 0:39:14- OK.- But, yes, budget, bang-on.

0:39:14 > 0:39:18I think that that is a very special piece of furniture for that budget,

0:39:18 > 0:39:20so I really appreciate you doing that.

0:39:20 > 0:39:22Cannot wait to see where it ends up.

0:39:22 > 0:39:26Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?

0:39:26 > 0:39:29I'm really, really happy that Sarah's happy.

0:39:29 > 0:39:32It was really, really challenging but it was really fun as well

0:39:32 > 0:39:36and I'm absolutely over the moon that she loves it,

0:39:36 > 0:39:38so, yeah, really happy.

0:39:41 > 0:39:43Well, that is a fantastic thing to pick up.

0:39:43 > 0:39:46I literally couldn't imagine anything better

0:39:46 > 0:39:50happening to that old oak door. EJ has totally nailed it.

0:39:50 > 0:39:52I've already done that gag.

0:39:52 > 0:39:55Not only has EJ created the screen,

0:39:55 > 0:40:00but he's only gone and sold it as well to a regular client of his.

0:40:00 > 0:40:05With a pocket full of cash, Sarah's back, just outside Bristol,

0:40:05 > 0:40:09to show Miranda what became of the garbage from her garden.

0:40:10 > 0:40:13I'm so excited to see what she's done with these items.

0:40:13 > 0:40:17Ever since she left, actually, I've been really poring over

0:40:17 > 0:40:20in my mind about what she's transformed them into.

0:40:20 > 0:40:23I bet she's done something really amazing and creative,

0:40:23 > 0:40:25so very, very excited.

0:40:25 > 0:40:28Amazing and creative - you could say that!

0:40:30 > 0:40:32I've got everything crossed for you, Sarah.

0:40:32 > 0:40:35- Hi.- Hello again, how are you?

0:40:35 > 0:40:38- Great to see you.- I'm really well. How you doing?- Come on in.

0:40:38 > 0:40:40- Show me what you've got. - I'm a bit nervous.

0:40:42 > 0:40:44Right, moment of truth.

0:40:44 > 0:40:48Well, you certainly get the prize for having the heaviest rubbish!

0:40:48 > 0:40:51Oh, I'm so pleased! Is that the only prize?

0:40:51 > 0:40:53I think it might be a game of two halves, actually.

0:40:53 > 0:40:55I've got pictures of both of them to show you

0:40:55 > 0:40:57but, first of all, the bench.

0:40:57 > 0:41:02- I thought it might be a nice idea to bring it in from the cold.- Wow!

0:41:02 > 0:41:06- Oh, my goodness me! - It's been turned into...

0:41:06 > 0:41:08You know I hate pink, don't you?

0:41:08 > 0:41:11When I walked in here, I thought, "No pink anywhere, is there?"

0:41:11 > 0:41:13- No.- You're either a lover or a hater.

0:41:13 > 0:41:16I really hate pink and I hate flowery things, but it's fabulous!

0:41:16 > 0:41:19So, that's actually been sold to a lady who owns a boat

0:41:19 > 0:41:23- and it's made £125 profit. - Really?- Yeah.- Oh, brilliant!

0:41:23 > 0:41:25I didn't think that would be up your street,

0:41:25 > 0:41:29but what I'm going to show you next is a beautiful dressing screen.

0:41:29 > 0:41:32- It's reused all the iron work that's on it.- Oh, that's incredible!- And...

0:41:32 > 0:41:35- Oh!- Yeah.- That is stunning!

0:41:35 > 0:41:38I would definitely, definitely have that in our house.

0:41:38 > 0:41:40Can I pay for you it or have you sold it already?

0:41:40 > 0:41:43EJ actually shared pictures of it when he'd made it

0:41:43 > 0:41:48and it sold on his social media with a £250 profit, so I have got...

0:41:48 > 0:41:51- Wow!- ..£375 here for you.

0:41:51 > 0:41:55That's amazing! Thank you so much! And I'm so delighted

0:41:55 > 0:41:58that they've both become really beautiful pieces as well.

0:41:58 > 0:42:01I don't even have to ask, where's that going to then?

0:42:01 > 0:42:03Well, this is going to Marine Conservation Society

0:42:03 > 0:42:06and they're doing amazing work, so many different things -

0:42:06 > 0:42:10protecting the waters around our coastline. Thank you so, so much.

0:42:10 > 0:42:13Brilliant. I'm so pleased you like the results, one way or the other,

0:42:13 > 0:42:15- and it was lovely to catch up.- Yeah.

0:42:15 > 0:42:18- I think I got away with the bench. - You did. Bye.

0:42:18 > 0:42:23Both of the items have become really, really beautiful things,

0:42:23 > 0:42:27and I'm very excited, actually,

0:42:27 > 0:42:31very, very excited. The screen is utterly beautiful

0:42:31 > 0:42:34and something I would dearly love to have in my own house.

0:42:34 > 0:42:37It's amazing. They've done such a great job.

0:42:37 > 0:42:42Sarah sold the revamped garden bench for £225.

0:42:42 > 0:42:45Taking off the cost of materials,

0:42:45 > 0:42:48that left a profit of £125.
