0:00:21 > 0:00:24- Beautiful!- I had no idea they were even here!

0:00:24 > 0:00:28..by having a really good look around some celebrity homes...

0:00:28 > 0:00:31This is unbelievable!

0:00:31 > 0:00:34With the help of some of Britain's best designers and makers...

0:00:34 > 0:00:38And celebrity faces, we're on a mission to turn celebrity trash...

0:00:38 > 0:00:39Into hard cash.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45But what will our celebrities think of the transformations?

0:00:45 > 0:00:48You are joking!

0:00:48 > 0:00:53- Oh, wow!- And how much money has been made for their charities?

0:00:53 > 0:00:55£307 here for you.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Oh, my gosh! You're an amazing lady!

0:01:08 > 0:01:11First up is intrepid super salvager Sarah.

0:01:14 > 0:01:20She's in Essex at the very lovely home of...Louie Spence.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24Famed for his high kicks, backflips and boundless enthusiasm,

0:01:24 > 0:01:28Louie first found success as a dancer in London's West End,

0:01:28 > 0:01:33before he took centre stage in a docu-soap about his dance studio.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37Sarah will have a right good rummage around his home to uncover two

0:01:37 > 0:01:41unwanted items she can give a new lease of life to.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44I love what she does and I'm quite crafty myself.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46I don't think to her expertise,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48but, you know, I do like making a cushion,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50I like a bit of spray-paint.

0:01:50 > 0:01:51I'm not afraid of colour.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54I'll be interested to see what she thinks of some of my things

0:01:54 > 0:01:57and maybe if she's got some ideas of other things I can do.

0:01:57 > 0:01:58Hello, Sarah, darling.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00- Hello.- How are you?

0:02:00 > 0:02:02- Really well. How are you?- Come in.

0:02:02 > 0:02:03Welcome to my home.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10Louie's home is an extended 17th-century cottage,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12full of original period features.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16He and his husband have lived here for five years.

0:02:18 > 0:02:23Louie's pirouettes are pinpoint and he also loves getting crafty with a

0:02:23 > 0:02:24needle and thread,

0:02:24 > 0:02:29so he's looking forward to showing off his handiwork to Sarah.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31So, this is the sitting room.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Wow! What a great airy room for a property of this age.

0:02:34 > 0:02:35- Yeah.- Oh, Sarah,

0:02:35 > 0:02:40Louie's not after your opinion on the airiness of his room.

0:02:40 > 0:02:41Check out the cushions.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43I made that cushion.

0:02:43 > 0:02:48- I'm really impressed.- And I made this one, as well, Miss Japan.

0:02:48 > 0:02:49- Beautiful.- I made that one.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52So, do you enjoy doing that? Do you enjoy making everything?

0:02:52 > 0:02:55You know what? I really do now.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57I mean, it's something I've done

0:02:57 > 0:03:01because of owning the house and always wanting a change.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04I'm not doing it to sell, I'm doing it for myself.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06So, yeah, the cushion may not be exactly square,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09it made dip a bit in the middle, but it's only going to be there a week,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11cos I'm going to change it to another colour.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13It's inspiring stuff. You just have to have a go, don't you?

0:03:13 > 0:03:14I'm with you there.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18Louie and Sarah are kindred spirits

0:03:18 > 0:03:21when it comes to DIY home furnishings.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25But there's precious little junk hidden about

0:03:25 > 0:03:26Louie's immaculate home.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28Beautifully tidy.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Nothing for me in there.

0:03:30 > 0:03:34Everyone has somewhere to chuck the bits, the bobs,

0:03:34 > 0:03:37the odds and sods that no longer serve a purpose.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39But where are Louie's?

0:03:42 > 0:03:45Jack, and may I add, pot!

0:03:47 > 0:03:49I'll have a closer look at this.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52That looks cool. It's looking really neglected.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55It's very interesting. Right, let's go and see where Louie is.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59So, I did have a quick look in the shed.

0:03:59 > 0:04:01- OK.- Something really interesting.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04- Really?- It's looking a bit neglected.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06- What's that?- Well, this...

0:04:06 > 0:04:08Darling, I'll take that. A little bit heavy for you.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Oh! Those gym workouts, thank goodness.

0:04:12 > 0:04:16Right, when I first moved in, I was going for the country feel.

0:04:16 > 0:04:20- Right.- Before I found colour in the house,

0:04:20 > 0:04:22this is how I thought it should have looked.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24I think like everyone else, I had that feeling of,

0:04:24 > 0:04:28if it's a country house, it should have those old kind of things.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31I went off it very quickly and it's been here ever since.

0:04:31 > 0:04:32It's good to go. Get rid of it.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35- I would love to take that away. - Take it.- Loads of potential there,

0:04:35 > 0:04:40- and maybe something I could give a little Louie love to.- Yeah.

0:04:41 > 0:04:45Sarah's got her first item, this Victorian style sofa.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48It's a very sweet little two-seater sofa.

0:04:48 > 0:04:52It's reproduction. It's got great lines, lots of potential.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Not quite sure which direction to go down, but as it's reproduction,

0:04:55 > 0:04:57I can go anywhere I like.

0:04:57 > 0:05:01Sarah's got free rein to unleash her creativity upon it.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08In Cambridgeshire, Jay is on his way

0:05:08 > 0:05:10to the home of one-time ballet dancer

0:05:10 > 0:05:14turned Royal Marine turned actor Cassidy Little.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17When he's not playing a tiny guitar,

0:05:17 > 0:05:19Cassidy also works to raise awareness

0:05:19 > 0:05:23of soldiers' experiences after injury.

0:05:23 > 0:05:29In 2011, Cassidy lost his right leg while serving in Afghanistan.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32Since then, he's appeared on Strictly Come Dancing

0:05:32 > 0:05:37and carried the Olympic torch for the 2012 London Olympics.

0:05:37 > 0:05:41Jay will scour Cassidy's home to seek out two items

0:05:41 > 0:05:42of tip-bound trash

0:05:42 > 0:05:46that he can transform and sell on for a profit.

0:05:46 > 0:05:47I'm really excited about Jay coming.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Actually, I'm a little bit nervous, too,

0:05:49 > 0:05:53cos I have no idea what he's going to want to take out of here and,

0:05:53 > 0:05:56to be honest with you, I have no idea whether I'm going to be even

0:05:56 > 0:05:57able to let it go. I kind of hold

0:05:57 > 0:06:00on to things because I'm worried that they're going to be

0:06:00 > 0:06:02emotionally sensitive to me in the future,

0:06:02 > 0:06:04so even the kind of rotting things around the corner

0:06:04 > 0:06:07I will still kind of look at and go, "Yeah, but... Yeah, but..."

0:06:10 > 0:06:13- Cassidy.- How are you doing, man? - You all right?- Yeah, I'm good,

0:06:13 > 0:06:15- buddy. Come on in.- Thank you. - Come on in.

0:06:17 > 0:06:21Cassidy shares his home with his wife, Laura.

0:06:21 > 0:06:22They married in 2012,

0:06:22 > 0:06:27and three years later, welcomed their first child.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29Like a lot of couples with a young family,

0:06:29 > 0:06:32their home has been filled with baby stuff.

0:06:35 > 0:06:37Straight away I see it.

0:06:37 > 0:06:39- That's got to be you, isn't it? - Yeah, yeah.

0:06:39 > 0:06:40That was a couple of years ago.

0:06:40 > 0:06:43I was one of the poster boys for the Royal British Legion.

0:06:43 > 0:06:44So, how did you lose your leg, then,

0:06:44 > 0:06:47if you don't mind me asking? I'm all right to ask, am I?

0:06:47 > 0:06:50Yeah, of course. Have you ever seen the film Jurassic Park?

0:06:50 > 0:06:52- Jurassic Park?- Yeah, dinosaurs, man.

0:06:52 > 0:06:55You're having me on! That's not dinosaurs!

0:06:55 > 0:06:57- LAUGHS:- No dinosaurs.

0:06:59 > 0:07:04I lost my leg in 2011 on Herrick 14, which was a tour of Afghanistan.

0:07:04 > 0:07:06Wow. So your leg got blown up?

0:07:06 > 0:07:08Literally. Yeah, just flying through the air.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10Wow.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13And then obviously the guys helped you, picked you up...

0:07:13 > 0:07:15- Yeah, yeah.- ..and put you into the ambulance?

0:07:15 > 0:07:20I was a medic at the time, and I had trained a lot of guys in how to do

0:07:20 > 0:07:22immediate life-saving drills and, luckily,

0:07:22 > 0:07:25some of the guys that I'd taught first aid to saved my life.

0:07:25 > 0:07:29Cassidy's tale is one of incredible bravery.

0:07:29 > 0:07:31He's an inspirational man.

0:07:33 > 0:07:37But today, Jay is here to rummage through his rubbish.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40- This is where you've got it all hiding, eh?- Yeah, OK,

0:07:40 > 0:07:42I'm a little embarrassed about this, but this is our tip, so...

0:07:42 > 0:07:45This is exactly what I'm looking for. This is my kind of space.

0:07:45 > 0:07:47- Well, that's good, cos... - There's no need to be embarrassed.

0:07:47 > 0:07:49- This is perfect!- Errr...

0:07:49 > 0:07:51- Anyway, if you can find something in there, it's all yours.- OK.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55That sounds like a good deal.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57This is a trash treasure trove.

0:07:57 > 0:08:00- That's a wooden high chair back there, isn't it?- It is, yes.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02Yes, the blue one.

0:08:02 > 0:08:04- Yeah, the blue one.- I can't let you have the blue one.

0:08:04 > 0:08:06Well, that deal didn't last long!

0:08:06 > 0:08:09I know it looks like rotting wood, and it is rotting wood,

0:08:09 > 0:08:13but the truth is that every one of my nieces and nephews

0:08:13 > 0:08:16and my daughter have sat in that chair.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19And although none of the family want it, my wife doesn't want it and,

0:08:19 > 0:08:20truth be told, I don't even want it,

0:08:20 > 0:08:23I cannot let it go cos I'm just...

0:08:23 > 0:08:26I feel like I'm ditching that connection, so I can't do it.

0:08:26 > 0:08:29He did warn us he's a sentimentalist.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31Now, this...

0:08:31 > 0:08:33Obviously timber. Nice.

0:08:33 > 0:08:37It's part of a sandbox and it was bought for my daughter by a friend

0:08:37 > 0:08:41of the family. The truth is that my sister was horribly ill from eating

0:08:41 > 0:08:44something in a sandbox when she was around my daughter's age,

0:08:44 > 0:08:48so I will never, ever own a sandbox,

0:08:48 > 0:08:51so it's literally going to sit here or I will burn it.

0:08:51 > 0:08:53No, don't burn that. This is a lovely bit of pine.

0:08:53 > 0:08:55I'm sure I can do something with this.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58- Jay...- Yeah?- You're a strange man.

0:08:58 > 0:09:02- I am a strange man. - Strange, strange man.

0:09:02 > 0:09:08Jay has got his first item and he's as happy as a kid in a sandbox,

0:09:08 > 0:09:10with his kid's sandbox.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13You can never go wrong with a bit of wood, but

0:09:13 > 0:09:14this one's going to be a bit of a challenge,

0:09:14 > 0:09:17so I'm going to have to get my creative hat on -

0:09:17 > 0:09:18not this one, me other one -

0:09:18 > 0:09:20cos I don't know what I'm going to do with it just yet.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22Let me have a think.

0:09:22 > 0:09:26It could be a...kid's sandbox?

0:09:26 > 0:09:27Hm.

0:09:30 > 0:09:33In Essex, Sarah's having a rummage

0:09:33 > 0:09:35in the immaculate home of Louie Spence.

0:09:35 > 0:09:37I don't know if you're the first

0:09:37 > 0:09:40lady I've taken up to my bedroom, Sarah!

0:09:40 > 0:09:42What a privilege!

0:09:42 > 0:09:45She uncovered this two-seater sofa in the garden shed.

0:09:45 > 0:09:46And, for the second item,

0:09:46 > 0:09:50Louie thinks he's got just the thing for her in his bedroom.

0:09:50 > 0:09:51What's in here, then? Come on.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53OK. I've got a rug or two.

0:09:53 > 0:09:56- Have you?- Yeah, I mean, it's the same with my cushions.

0:09:56 > 0:10:00- You've got a rug habit? - I've got, like... Hold on.

0:10:00 > 0:10:02So, got, like, all different types.

0:10:03 > 0:10:07Happy days! This is just the sort of thing Sarah loves.

0:10:09 > 0:10:13- So, are you using all of these? Are they all going back in...? - No.- Maybe not?

0:10:13 > 0:10:14I mean, I don't...

0:10:14 > 0:10:17I think some things, once they get put away,

0:10:17 > 0:10:19and they get forgotten about, do you know what I mean?

0:10:19 > 0:10:22- It's like... - Are you going to circulate those?

0:10:22 > 0:10:23I really don't think so.

0:10:23 > 0:10:25I think I might actually be over them.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27Well, they're definitely food for thought for me.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29Maybe come back to that later, if that's all right.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32- Let me help you fold them up. - Shall I stay in or shall I come

0:10:32 > 0:10:33- out of the closet?- Definitely out.

0:10:33 > 0:10:37Right, OK, fine. I just needed a bit of a push there.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40Oh, don't worry about that, darling. We'll get someone else to do that.

0:10:40 > 0:10:42The husband!

0:10:42 > 0:10:45Sarah's saying a polite "thanks, but no thanks"

0:10:45 > 0:10:47to the right-up-her-street rugs.

0:10:47 > 0:10:52That can only mean she's got her upcycler's eye on another item.

0:10:52 > 0:10:55- What are you doing with that, then? - Well, the thing is,

0:10:55 > 0:10:56it's not normally here.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58It's been put here for a reason, Sarah.

0:10:58 > 0:11:01When I moved into the house, I bought it thinking

0:11:01 > 0:11:04it would be a wonderful garden piece, not thinking about the dogs,

0:11:04 > 0:11:07not thinking about my nieces and nephews when they come round.

0:11:07 > 0:11:09If this was to fall...

0:11:09 > 0:11:12- It's really heavy.- On one of the children or the dogs...

0:11:12 > 0:11:13It really is quite dangerous,

0:11:13 > 0:11:16and to tell you the truth, I don't mind if you wheel this out.

0:11:16 > 0:11:20That has got "make me into something amazing" written all over it.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22- So, shall I just wheel it away now? - You wheel it away. Like I say,

0:11:22 > 0:11:24it's used to being pushed around everywhere.

0:11:24 > 0:11:25It doesn't take offence.

0:11:25 > 0:11:27Once the momentum goes, darling...

0:11:27 > 0:11:29Once you get going with the momentum, look...

0:11:29 > 0:11:31And you can get it down... Go on.

0:11:31 > 0:11:33- Lovely.- There you go. - Well, I'll put it in the van.

0:11:33 > 0:11:34Off you go. Put it in your bag, darling.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37Put it in your handbag. No-one's going to know.

0:11:39 > 0:11:40Well, this WHEELIE is my lucky day.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42I love this wheel.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44Heaps of age to it.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47Lovely finish on it, great colour, and there's money in here.

0:11:47 > 0:11:49I can just smell it.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52Ugh! I'm not sure that's money!

0:11:52 > 0:11:54Perhaps it's the dogs Louie mentioned earlier.

0:11:56 > 0:11:58Louie, I have had the best day today.

0:11:58 > 0:12:01I've really enjoyed it, and thank you for letting me see your home.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04That's an absolute pleasure. I just hope you can work your magic

0:12:04 > 0:12:07with some of the junk I've given you, so good luck and safe journey.

0:12:08 > 0:12:11- I love the junk. I'll be back in touch.- OK.- Bye.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13I've had a really, really nice time today,

0:12:13 > 0:12:16and I'm so pleased that Sarah's found things that she believes

0:12:16 > 0:12:19she can do something with, which I'm sure she can.

0:12:19 > 0:12:21So it's been a successful day and it was just nice to meet Sarah,

0:12:21 > 0:12:24actually, and have a chat about soft furnishing.

0:12:24 > 0:12:27Sarah's got two items that she thinks

0:12:27 > 0:12:31she can give a new lease of life and earn a bob or two on -

0:12:31 > 0:12:36the Victorian-style two-seater and the rusty old cart wheel.

0:12:39 > 0:12:43Jay's search continues at the home of Cassidy Little,

0:12:43 > 0:12:46Strictly Come Dancing People's Champion.

0:12:46 > 0:12:48Do a little cha-cha-cha. There we go.

0:12:48 > 0:12:51Be careful, man. I'm pretty good at the old dancing!

0:12:51 > 0:12:54Cassidy was happy to see the back of this kid's sandpit.

0:12:54 > 0:12:58Now, Jay is having a root around in his garden shed.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00Oh, wow, cool!

0:13:00 > 0:13:01That's a cooler that we still use.

0:13:01 > 0:13:03I've got a drill over there that I still use.

0:13:03 > 0:13:06There's a vacuum cleaner over there that I'd like to get rid of,

0:13:06 > 0:13:08but what are you going to do with a vacuum cleaner?

0:13:08 > 0:13:11You never know! I could do something with a vacuum cleaner.

0:13:11 > 0:13:13That's right, he could!

0:13:13 > 0:13:16He could tidy up his workshop - it's a mess in there!

0:13:16 > 0:13:17Woodchips everywhere.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22Hold it. What about this, Cassidy? What about that?

0:13:22 > 0:13:25That's... It's a wheelbarrow.

0:13:25 > 0:13:27Yeah, but are you using it?

0:13:27 > 0:13:29No, I'm not using it. It's flat. It's useless.

0:13:31 > 0:13:32So, how long have you had this for?

0:13:32 > 0:13:33It came with the house.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36I'm looking for an excuse to buy a new one, so if you were to take

0:13:36 > 0:13:39- this off my hands, I'd appreciate it.- You could get a new one.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41- Oh, hell yeah.- I think I might have to take this, actually.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43- Yeah, do it, man.- I do like that.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45If it's something you think you can use, then it's yours.

0:13:45 > 0:13:47Yeah. So, are you sure I can have this?

0:13:47 > 0:13:49Yeah, yeah. It's yours if you want it.

0:13:49 > 0:13:53- Yeah, I want it. - Well, then, dude, take it.

0:13:53 > 0:13:54- OK.- Get it out of my yard.

0:13:54 > 0:13:57- Well, that's in the bag. I'll have that one.- Good man.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00Jay's got his second item.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03What on earth is he going to do with this?

0:14:05 > 0:14:08Well, you might be wondering what I'm going to do with a rusty old

0:14:08 > 0:14:10- wheelbarrow. - Jay, you've read my mind!

0:14:10 > 0:14:13You're just going to have to wait and see, aren't you?

0:14:13 > 0:14:15That cheeky wink is fooling nobody.

0:14:15 > 0:14:19He's got no idea, but I'm sure he'll get one.

0:14:19 > 0:14:21- So, Cassidy, thank you for having me today.- Dude, it's my pleasure.

0:14:21 > 0:14:23I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do

0:14:23 > 0:14:26- with the stuff you've grabbed. - OK, well, once I've finished,

0:14:26 > 0:14:27I'll bring it back and show you.

0:14:27 > 0:14:29- That's a great idea.- All right? - Go on, get out of my house.

0:14:29 > 0:14:32- THEY LAUGH - Take care.

0:14:34 > 0:14:38I wasn't really sure what to expect when Jay rocked up because it feels

0:14:38 > 0:14:42like I'm kind of parting with something that...

0:14:42 > 0:14:45You know, I would be parting with things that I would miss or I would

0:14:45 > 0:14:48regret parting with. But he's chosen things that I'm not connected to,

0:14:48 > 0:14:53even remotely, and I'm really happy that he's taking away from my house.

0:14:53 > 0:14:56Jay's picked two items that he thinks have the potential

0:14:56 > 0:14:57to turn a profit -

0:14:57 > 0:15:00the sandpit and the wheelbarrow.

0:15:05 > 0:15:09With four items found, let the upcycling commence.

0:15:11 > 0:15:15At Sarah's home in Sussex, she's in the workshop,

0:15:15 > 0:15:19ready to begin work on the Victorian-style two-seater sofa.

0:15:20 > 0:15:25I think it would be comfier sitting on a bag of spuds.

0:15:25 > 0:15:27Well, at the moment, this bench looks a bit mean,

0:15:27 > 0:15:30it looks austere and it looks really uncomfortable.

0:15:30 > 0:15:33And we just don't give house room to things like this any more unless

0:15:33 > 0:15:35they're antiques. So this, I think, needs to be made plump,

0:15:35 > 0:15:40generous and slapped on with a big dose of colour and pattern.

0:15:40 > 0:15:43So, we've got plumpification,

0:15:43 > 0:15:46followed by some slap-ifying of colour and pattern.

0:15:46 > 0:15:50This will be a challenge of gargantuan proportions.

0:15:50 > 0:15:54Reupholstering this seat will test Sarah's skills to the max.

0:15:56 > 0:15:58The sofa's webbing is slack.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00Webbing should be uniformly taut

0:16:00 > 0:16:03to provide a little bounce for comfort.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06No-one likes a saggy seat.

0:16:06 > 0:16:08Well, the webbing is still fit for purpose but it really needs

0:16:08 > 0:16:11tightening up, so I'm just going to use my electric staple gun

0:16:11 > 0:16:14to make it really taut. Then it should be good as new.

0:16:16 > 0:16:20Sarah will be padding out and upholstering the backrest,

0:16:20 > 0:16:24but before doing that, she wants to modify the seat's outline.

0:16:24 > 0:16:26I'm going to cut these bits off the top.

0:16:26 > 0:16:30A bit of cosmetic surgery to make the shape a little sleeker.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32I hope it doesn't affect the joints, though.

0:16:35 > 0:16:37I hate power tools.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40Come on, now, Sarah, what's to worry about?

0:16:40 > 0:16:44You accidentally saw through a joint and the whole thing falls apart?

0:16:44 > 0:16:46It could be worse!

0:16:46 > 0:16:48Maybe not.

0:16:48 > 0:16:49No going back now, then.

0:16:51 > 0:16:54Do you know, I found this genuinely frightening.

0:16:54 > 0:16:57The key to a smooth cut with a jigsaw

0:16:57 > 0:17:00is maintaining a firm grip with a steady pace.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04With the knobbly bits cut off,

0:17:04 > 0:17:08are we on the road to a sleek and stylish new look?

0:17:08 > 0:17:09I hope my design works,

0:17:09 > 0:17:12cos I've completely ruined it now if it doesn't.

0:17:12 > 0:17:14Oh, Sarah, don't be so down.

0:17:14 > 0:17:15Perk yourself up!

0:17:15 > 0:17:17This looks like fun, doesn't it?

0:17:17 > 0:17:19That's more like it.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22Sarah's preparing to add the foam cushioning to the backrest.

0:17:24 > 0:17:26This project is a nightmare, do you know that?

0:17:26 > 0:17:28It's a nightmare. Oh, dear.

0:17:28 > 0:17:31Oh, I see - that's smiling on the outside,

0:17:31 > 0:17:35crying tears of upcycling despair on the inside.

0:17:35 > 0:17:38Sarah has spent £89 on materials.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41For her, that's a hefty outlay.

0:17:41 > 0:17:43Here's hoping it's money well spent.

0:17:48 > 0:17:54It's a lovely day for a paddle in the Sussex village of Hellingly,

0:17:54 > 0:17:59home to Norman Wilkinson, master craftsman for all things wood.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02Just the fella, then, for the rusty old metal wheel.

0:18:06 > 0:18:11Norman has 25 years of experience handcrafting one-of-a-kind furniture

0:18:11 > 0:18:14pieces that will last a lifetime.

0:18:15 > 0:18:16I'm self-taught.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18Never been to college, never took woodwork at school.

0:18:18 > 0:18:20So over the years, I've just taught myself.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23I started making a few pieces and it just took off,

0:18:23 > 0:18:25so it's the best thing I ever did.

0:18:25 > 0:18:27So, yeah, happy-pappy person.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32You're not looking so happy now, Norman.

0:18:32 > 0:18:35Sarah's on the phone to discuss ideas.

0:18:35 > 0:18:39I thought we could make it into a table using the wheel as the top and

0:18:39 > 0:18:41maybe some reclaimed wood for the surface?

0:18:41 > 0:18:45Norman likes the table idea, but has a suggestion of his own for the

0:18:45 > 0:18:48surface - glass.

0:18:48 > 0:18:52We would have to have a glass one made, a glass one cut with a hole,

0:18:52 > 0:18:55and toughened, but it will look super-cool cos then you could

0:18:55 > 0:18:57look down at the wheel and the column.

0:18:57 > 0:19:00Sounds great, but getting glass made to order is expensive.

0:19:00 > 0:19:02Yeah, well... No. Yes and no.

0:19:02 > 0:19:05The whole project, all singing and dancing,

0:19:05 > 0:19:08I reckon it's going to cost you about 575.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11Well, all right, then. For that price, it's a deal.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14Be good and I'll speak to you soon, yeah?

0:19:14 > 0:19:18So, they've agreed on a cartwheel table with a glass top.

0:19:18 > 0:19:22This is either going to go swimmingly well or we're going to

0:19:22 > 0:19:24have serious problems with it.

0:19:24 > 0:19:27Fingers crossed it works out all right.

0:19:28 > 0:19:31Hm. He didn't mention any of that on the phone to Sarah.

0:19:36 > 0:19:38Norman is using reclaimed ceiling joists

0:19:38 > 0:19:40to make the base of the table.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45He's ensured that all the old nails are removed,

0:19:45 > 0:19:49as they damage the spinning teeth of his table saw.

0:19:49 > 0:19:51And, wise man that he is,

0:19:51 > 0:19:55Norman is wearing safety glasses to protect his eyes.

0:19:57 > 0:20:00To support the iron wheel and glass table top,

0:20:00 > 0:20:03Norman needs wider timber for his base.

0:20:03 > 0:20:07So he's gluing the cut joists together to form a larger piece.

0:20:10 > 0:20:12When we glue it up, if there's bumps and ridges in it,

0:20:12 > 0:20:15it doesn't matter because we will be sanding it,

0:20:15 > 0:20:17and sanding it nice and flat.

0:20:17 > 0:20:21When the glue has dried, the bond will be as strong as fresh timber,

0:20:21 > 0:20:25and Norman can then cut this large piece down to size.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30It's better to have too much than not enough.

0:20:30 > 0:20:32I think the same about biscuits.

0:20:33 > 0:20:35Excellent. That's that one done.

0:20:35 > 0:20:39It's time to get to work on this wagon wheel.

0:20:39 > 0:20:43Norman wants to keep the well-worn and aged look of the iron

0:20:43 > 0:20:46and the faded blues and reds of its paintwork,

0:20:46 > 0:20:51so he's using a fine sandpaper to remove any loose flakes of rust.

0:20:51 > 0:20:52That is looking beautiful.

0:20:52 > 0:20:55I'm just going to put some wax on it and see...

0:20:55 > 0:20:56..see how it looks, and then see...

0:20:56 > 0:20:59If we're happy with it, then we can do the rest of the wheel.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02Norman's using a clear wood wax to bring up the lustre

0:21:02 > 0:21:04and add a little shine.

0:21:05 > 0:21:08Look at that lovely red and the ageing,

0:21:08 > 0:21:10where the wheel has obviously run on the rim.

0:21:10 > 0:21:12Absolutely sensational.

0:21:12 > 0:21:16It's all looking good at the moment, but there's a long road ahead for

0:21:16 > 0:21:17this wheel.

0:21:18 > 0:21:22Norman's still got a hefty chunk of change to spend on toughened glass

0:21:22 > 0:21:26within his budget of £575.

0:21:32 > 0:21:36It's a radical revamping extravaganza for Sarah and Norman.

0:21:39 > 0:21:42Now we are in Jay's stomping ground, Wolverhampton.

0:21:44 > 0:21:48The man himself is taking the kid's sandpit to his workshop.

0:21:51 > 0:21:55I've got this sandpit - I know, minus the sand -

0:21:55 > 0:21:58from Cassidy and basically what I'm intending to make with this is a

0:21:58 > 0:22:02mirror - mirror with storage and place where you can hang

0:22:02 > 0:22:04all your bits and bobs.

0:22:04 > 0:22:07Not just one mirror with storage for bits and bobs -

0:22:07 > 0:22:11Jay's measured up the sandpit and he thinks there's enough timber

0:22:11 > 0:22:13to make three.

0:22:13 > 0:22:17He's already had three pieces of mirrored glass cut to his exact

0:22:17 > 0:22:21- measurements. - I'll just have to have a look,

0:22:21 > 0:22:24cos I don't think I've got enough timber, actually.

0:22:24 > 0:22:27Oops. Perhaps those measurements weren't so exact after all.

0:22:29 > 0:22:31So, Jay, what's the best thing to do?

0:22:31 > 0:22:33The best thing to do is take it all apart

0:22:33 > 0:22:35and then see if I've got enough.

0:22:36 > 0:22:39Jay wants to give his mirror a stylish new colour scheme

0:22:39 > 0:22:41with a distressed finish.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45Simply painting over the top is a no-no.

0:22:45 > 0:22:49The key to a long-lasting professional paint job is prep.

0:22:50 > 0:22:54Jay is sanding the timber to remove the current colours,

0:22:54 > 0:22:56which will open up the grain,

0:22:56 > 0:23:00allowing his colour choice to seep deep into the timber,

0:23:00 > 0:23:01giving a vivid finish.

0:23:02 > 0:23:06Even though the wood's been outside, it's not in bad condition, actually,

0:23:06 > 0:23:08so I'm quite happy about that.

0:23:08 > 0:23:10We're happy about that,

0:23:10 > 0:23:15but are we happy we've got enough wood for the three frames, Jay?

0:23:15 > 0:23:18Jay? Oh, he's doing his sums.

0:23:18 > 0:23:24I can see the cogs are turning slowly - very slowly.

0:23:24 > 0:23:26Don't worry. I'm just working it out.

0:23:26 > 0:23:27I've not lost the plot.

0:23:27 > 0:23:30I'm not sure you had it to begin with, to be honest, Jay.

0:23:30 > 0:23:32I don't think I've got enough.

0:23:32 > 0:23:36When unsure, it's best to remember the age-old adage of the master

0:23:36 > 0:23:40craftsman - measure twice, cut once.

0:23:40 > 0:23:43Or we could just carry on regardless and hope for the best.

0:23:48 > 0:23:52Jay's cutting the timber down to what he thinks is the right size for

0:23:52 > 0:23:57three frames, and if it's not, then, well, I don't know.

0:23:58 > 0:24:01I've got more cut now, and I was correct.

0:24:01 > 0:24:03I don't have enough for three.

0:24:03 > 0:24:04I only have enough for two,

0:24:04 > 0:24:08but two is better than one, and one is better than none.

0:24:08 > 0:24:11Yeah, great. Wait, how many are we making?

0:24:11 > 0:24:14He's bamboozled me with his positive attitude.

0:24:14 > 0:24:18Ugh. Jay has spent £19 on his mirrors.

0:24:18 > 0:24:22I can't wait to see them, no matter how many we're getting.

0:24:25 > 0:24:29Margate, the day-trippers' kiss-me-quick Mecca,

0:24:29 > 0:24:32is now the retro hotspot for all things vintage.

0:24:33 > 0:24:37It's home to upcycler extraordinaire Rupert Blanchard,

0:24:37 > 0:24:41one of the most imaginative artisans working in Britain today,

0:24:41 > 0:24:46which is why Jay has chosen him to work on his worn-out wheelbarrow.

0:24:49 > 0:24:52Rupert's got skills to pay the bills.

0:24:52 > 0:24:56He's a master of his craft with a flair for the unexpected,

0:24:56 > 0:24:59but his designs are no flights of fancy.

0:24:59 > 0:25:02They are functional and in high demand.

0:25:03 > 0:25:06I try to develop my own style so my personality comes through

0:25:06 > 0:25:08in my work.

0:25:08 > 0:25:12I'm most proud of a piece when I've got a piece of furniture back in

0:25:12 > 0:25:16someone's home that they wouldn't even give space in their shed for.

0:25:16 > 0:25:20I just... Yeah, I want to make the unloved loved again.

0:25:21 > 0:25:25I'm super excited to hear Rupert's ideas for this.

0:25:25 > 0:25:27I just... I just don't know what to do with it.

0:25:29 > 0:25:31Uh, Rupert, that's not helpful.

0:25:33 > 0:25:35Don't worry, Rupert, my old mate.

0:25:35 > 0:25:37Jay'll have an idea, I'm sure. PHONE RINGS

0:25:37 > 0:25:40- Hello, Jay.- All right, Rupert, how are you doing, mate?

0:25:40 > 0:25:42- Are you all right? - No, Jay, he's not. He's flummoxed.

0:25:45 > 0:25:48The idea that I had was basically put some water in it

0:25:48 > 0:25:51- and turn it into a pond. - A garden pond?

0:25:51 > 0:25:52But I know you've got a better idea.

0:25:52 > 0:25:56- He doesn't.- The light bulb moment hasn't just happened, so...

0:25:56 > 0:25:59You're the only brain that I believe in Britain that will

0:25:59 > 0:26:01be able to handle such an item.

0:26:01 > 0:26:03Oh, blimey, Jay...

0:26:03 > 0:26:07I'll try to make you a couple of really great sculptural items,

0:26:07 > 0:26:13but something with function, and I reckon if you just trust me,

0:26:13 > 0:26:17you leave me with £200, I will return you things to be proud of.

0:26:18 > 0:26:21Jay's agreed to Rupert's suggestion,

0:26:21 > 0:26:26but the pressure's on to have that light bulb moment he mentioned.

0:26:26 > 0:26:29I've really got to...got to think hard about this one,

0:26:29 > 0:26:32pull something out of the bag and turn this from essentially

0:26:32 > 0:26:34scrap metal to something that Jay...

0:26:34 > 0:26:38Jay can sell, Jay can find a new home for.

0:26:38 > 0:26:39This is the oddest one yet.

0:26:39 > 0:26:42Rupert may not have an upcycling idea,

0:26:42 > 0:26:45but he does have a plan of attack...

0:26:46 > 0:26:50..which is to attack the wheelbarrow with his angle grinder.

0:26:51 > 0:26:55I find when I'm not quite sure what to do with an item that I've been

0:26:55 > 0:26:59given, I like to learn how it was put together,

0:26:59 > 0:27:02and the only way you do that is by taking it apart.

0:27:02 > 0:27:06Hopefully, by then, I would have had that light bulb moment and hopefully

0:27:06 > 0:27:08that's going to happen this time.

0:27:08 > 0:27:10Why did I agree to do this?

0:27:12 > 0:27:16Oh, Rupert, fret not a single strand of your lustrous hair.

0:27:20 > 0:27:22I've had a bit of an idea now.

0:27:22 > 0:27:24- Brilliant.- It's a bit unusual.

0:27:24 > 0:27:26It's a bit abstract.

0:27:26 > 0:27:28Sounds interesting.

0:27:30 > 0:27:32I'm... I'm going to...

0:27:32 > 0:27:35I'm going to see you in a bit. I'm going to go.

0:27:35 > 0:27:37Here you are.

0:27:37 > 0:27:39Hold on a second, where are you off to, my friend?

0:27:42 > 0:27:45Now, that I do not like the look of.

0:27:51 > 0:27:53Rupert, I've changed my mind -

0:27:53 > 0:27:57I would start fretting your whole head of hair when Jay sees this.

0:28:04 > 0:28:07Rupert, you'd better have a plan, and it'd better be a good one.

0:28:09 > 0:28:15Rupert agreed to a fee of £200 for two items that Jay would be proud to

0:28:15 > 0:28:17sell on.

0:28:17 > 0:28:20I think he'd be embarrassed to take that to the skip at the moment.

0:28:23 > 0:28:25Last we saw of Sarah,

0:28:25 > 0:28:29her skills were being tested to the max with her redesign

0:28:29 > 0:28:32of the Victorian-style sofa.

0:28:32 > 0:28:35Well, I'm nearly done, and it has been a labour of love.

0:28:35 > 0:28:37I'm really pleased with it.

0:28:39 > 0:28:42I think it would be fair to say there'd be nobody fighting

0:28:42 > 0:28:45over this in a battle for the comfy seat.

0:28:49 > 0:28:52But Sarah's plumpified it to perfection.

0:28:53 > 0:28:58The austere-looking old sofa now has a super-soft seat

0:28:58 > 0:29:02with a vintage floral fabric, giving it an inviting, homely look.

0:29:05 > 0:29:09Sarah painted the remaining woodwork in a soft shade of green to

0:29:09 > 0:29:12complement the botanical design of the material.

0:29:15 > 0:29:20This transformation tested Sarah's skills in woodwork and upholstery to

0:29:20 > 0:29:23the limit. But I think she's done an amazing job.

0:29:25 > 0:29:27In the beginning, it wasn't loved.

0:29:27 > 0:29:29It just didn't have commercial appeal.

0:29:29 > 0:29:33Now I'm hoping it's soft, it's generous and it's beautiful.

0:29:33 > 0:29:35So I'm going to take some pictures of it, share it around,

0:29:35 > 0:29:38and hopefully find it a lovely new home.

0:29:45 > 0:29:50In Sussex, Sarah is on her way to see Norman's cartwheel table,

0:29:50 > 0:29:52and he's cock-a-hoop with it.

0:29:52 > 0:29:57Beautiful. With what we were given, I think it's turned out really well,

0:29:57 > 0:29:59and, yeah, I am really pleased with it, and I hope Sarah will be

0:29:59 > 0:30:03as well, but, yeah, it's one of my favourites so, yeah, happy days.

0:30:03 > 0:30:07Will Sarah be turning cartwheels when she sees what's happened to her

0:30:07 > 0:30:08cartwheel?

0:30:12 > 0:30:15Yee-haw! HE COUGHS

0:30:15 > 0:30:17Sorry about that. I was overcome

0:30:17 > 0:30:20with the magnificent country stylings of this table.

0:30:24 > 0:30:28Norman had toughened safety glass cut to size for the table top.

0:30:28 > 0:30:33He added a rubber trim to allow it to sit perfectly on the wheel.

0:30:33 > 0:30:36The glass and wheel are a hefty weight,

0:30:36 > 0:30:39but Norman has constructed a secure and steady base,

0:30:39 > 0:30:43which he has given a distressed finish to match the wear and tear

0:30:43 > 0:30:45of the cartwheel,

0:30:45 > 0:30:49and he's bolted it all together with this chunky piece of

0:30:49 > 0:30:53ironmongery. Norman's tickled pink with his handiwork,

0:30:53 > 0:30:55but what about the boss?

0:30:56 > 0:30:58Oh, look at that!

0:31:00 > 0:31:01Hey, how are you?

0:31:01 > 0:31:04- Hiya. Yeah, great. And you? - You've nailed it.

0:31:04 > 0:31:06- Well done.- Do you like it? - It's really good.

0:31:06 > 0:31:09I really didn't know what I was going to be picking up,

0:31:09 > 0:31:11cos it was very heavy to use.

0:31:11 > 0:31:13Once we... Obviously, once we got the wheel,

0:31:13 > 0:31:16we had to start thinking about the weight, the weight of the glass,

0:31:16 > 0:31:18and we had to get it supported so it wouldn't topple or anything,

0:31:18 > 0:31:20so we've tested it all.

0:31:20 > 0:31:22But we've got a whopping great big nut and bolt that goes all the way

0:31:22 > 0:31:25through, so it clamps it and holds it all together.

0:31:25 > 0:31:26And then we came up with the base.

0:31:26 > 0:31:29But we came up with the base with the angles going up

0:31:29 > 0:31:31cos it obviously supports it, but...

0:31:31 > 0:31:33And we did it in a nice cream colour cos I think it

0:31:33 > 0:31:37complements the blue and the red, so it all, sort of, ties in.

0:31:37 > 0:31:39So a fair bit of work in that, then, wasn't there?

0:31:39 > 0:31:41- Yeah, but once we... - Are you pleased with it?

0:31:41 > 0:31:43I think it's fantastic, to be honest.

0:31:43 > 0:31:45I just... It's... It's one of my favourites.

0:31:45 > 0:31:48I think this bit here that you've done to expose that

0:31:48 > 0:31:51and make that stick out, you've honoured that wheel,

0:31:51 > 0:31:53- because you can see it all.- Yeah.

0:31:53 > 0:31:55And there are a lot of things that could have been done with it,

0:31:55 > 0:31:58like cutting it up, but that is looking good.

0:31:58 > 0:32:04Norman's done a bang-on job, bang-on his budget of £575.

0:32:04 > 0:32:05Great stuff.

0:32:07 > 0:32:09Happy days all the way round.

0:32:09 > 0:32:11Great project to do, loved doing it, fantastic.

0:32:13 > 0:32:18Norman thinks it's fantastic, and in complete agreement is Maria,

0:32:18 > 0:32:22owner of a furniture shop in Kent.

0:32:22 > 0:32:25There is something really lovely about aged metal

0:32:25 > 0:32:28that has a really nice contemporary feel to it.

0:32:28 > 0:32:33Now Sarah's in Essex to show Louie what became of his junk,

0:32:33 > 0:32:37and she's got a pocket full of profit for his chosen charity.

0:32:37 > 0:32:40I'm really looking forward to seeing what Sarah's done with the junk that

0:32:40 > 0:32:43I gave her, really. It was things that I didn't use,

0:32:43 > 0:32:47so I want to see what her creative mind has come up with, along with

0:32:47 > 0:32:49her fabulous friends.

0:32:49 > 0:32:51- Hi, Sarah.- Hiya. How are you doing? - Good. How are you?

0:32:51 > 0:32:53- Mmm.- Mwah.- Very well.- Mwah.

0:32:53 > 0:32:55I said I'd be back. I've got things to show you.

0:32:55 > 0:32:57Oh, fantastic. I'm really excited.

0:32:59 > 0:33:00Well, it's looking fantastic in here.

0:33:00 > 0:33:02It looks like you've changed stuff again.

0:33:02 > 0:33:04Oh, it's just a bit more colour and a few new cushions.

0:33:04 > 0:33:05You know me, I can't help myself.

0:33:05 > 0:33:08But I'm very excited to see what you've been doing, so...

0:33:08 > 0:33:10The first thing is that cartwheel.

0:33:10 > 0:33:12I actually took it to somebody called Norman

0:33:12 > 0:33:14who normally specialises in woodwork,

0:33:14 > 0:33:16but he will turn his hand to anything,

0:33:16 > 0:33:19and this is what he's done with it.

0:33:19 > 0:33:21- Here it is.- Oh, wow.

0:33:21 > 0:33:23It's amazing!

0:33:23 > 0:33:25I love it. Oh, that is stunning.

0:33:25 > 0:33:27He's put a glass top on it.

0:33:27 > 0:33:28It is absolutely beautiful.

0:33:28 > 0:33:30- So, do you like it?- Absolutely.

0:33:30 > 0:33:31Well, it's actually sold to a shop.

0:33:31 > 0:33:33- Oh, right, OK. - And after all our costs,

0:33:33 > 0:33:35I managed to make £120 on it.

0:33:35 > 0:33:36- Well, that's good. - Yeah, so there's...

0:33:36 > 0:33:38There's some profit from that.

0:33:38 > 0:33:40And then that left the little two-seater bench...

0:33:40 > 0:33:41- Yeah.- So I worked on that...

0:33:41 > 0:33:46- OK.- And did some upholstery on it, so your bench now looks like...

0:33:46 > 0:33:48Oh, it's beautiful.

0:33:48 > 0:33:52So I padded all of the seats, so it's comfortable...

0:33:52 > 0:33:54That would look beautiful back in my hallway.

0:33:54 > 0:33:57Can I have it back, please, as it is now?

0:33:57 > 0:34:00Unfortunately, you can't. I put it on to social media,

0:34:00 > 0:34:03put some pictures up, and I've sold it at a profit, so,

0:34:03 > 0:34:09with the money from the cartwheel and a £486 profit from the bench...

0:34:09 > 0:34:11- No way.- I've got 6...

0:34:11 > 0:34:14£486 profit from the bench?

0:34:14 > 0:34:16I've got £606 here for your charity.

0:34:16 > 0:34:18That's incredible! Oh, thank you very much.

0:34:18 > 0:34:20The charity's going to really love this.

0:34:20 > 0:34:22- Fantastic.- Right, you're going to have to leave now,

0:34:22 > 0:34:25cos people are going to be worried about me having women in my house.

0:34:25 > 0:34:26- OK.- Right, thanks for coming, Sarah.

0:34:26 > 0:34:29I've got to get rid of Sarah out of my house now,

0:34:29 > 0:34:33cos people are starting to talk in the village.

0:34:33 > 0:34:36I've got women visiting and giving me money - not a good look.

0:34:37 > 0:34:41The amount of money, I mean, you know, that's fantastic.

0:34:41 > 0:34:43It's going to Crohn's and Colitis,

0:34:43 > 0:34:45so the charity which this will be going to,

0:34:45 > 0:34:48I'm sure they will be very pleased with it, to help with their research

0:34:48 > 0:34:49or whatever else they want to do with it,

0:34:49 > 0:34:52so thank you very much for whoever bought it,

0:34:52 > 0:34:54and thanks very much for Sarah.

0:34:54 > 0:34:58Sarah sold the table for £695.

0:34:58 > 0:35:01Minus Norman's costs, Sarah was left

0:35:01 > 0:35:03with a profit of £120.

0:35:03 > 0:35:05Sarah sold the sofa

0:35:05 > 0:35:09to a private buyer for 575 quid.

0:35:09 > 0:35:11Take away her spend, that gave her

0:35:11 > 0:35:14a profit of £486.

0:35:14 > 0:35:18Added together, Louie has £606 to

0:35:18 > 0:35:21donate to Crohn's and Colitis UK.

0:35:24 > 0:35:26In his Wolverhampton workshop,

0:35:26 > 0:35:29Jay is doing what Jay loves best -

0:35:29 > 0:35:31looking at himself in the mirror.

0:35:32 > 0:35:35Man, that's good. I do like that.

0:35:35 > 0:35:39Just to be clear, he's talking about the mirror. Possibly.

0:35:39 > 0:35:43This sandpit was heading for the scrapheap.

0:35:44 > 0:35:50Now Jay has given it a new lease of life as a pair of stylish-looking

0:35:50 > 0:35:55mirrors. He chose a neutral white finish with a distressed look to add

0:35:55 > 0:35:57character.

0:35:57 > 0:36:01And no Jay makeover is complete without a little pop of colour,

0:36:01 > 0:36:03so he's gone for a pink wall mount.

0:36:05 > 0:36:06They're looking good.

0:36:08 > 0:36:10Now, I do love these.

0:36:10 > 0:36:12The simple ideas are normally the ones that work the best

0:36:12 > 0:36:15and they look the most striking, and on this,

0:36:15 > 0:36:17you couldn't have gone more basic than this.

0:36:17 > 0:36:21You've just got a frame with some string and they look beautiful.

0:36:21 > 0:36:25And what better place for them than a beauty salon?

0:36:25 > 0:36:27NAF in Glasgow.

0:36:27 > 0:36:30Tammy is a big fan of Jay's work.

0:36:30 > 0:36:32I absolutely love this.

0:36:32 > 0:36:35We are always looking for something unique and different

0:36:35 > 0:36:36to put on the walls in the salon,

0:36:36 > 0:36:39and it just fits in so perfectly with everything we've got.

0:36:39 > 0:36:43Oh, look, I've got the same sign up in my living room.

0:36:46 > 0:36:50In Margate, it's the moment of truth for Rupert.

0:36:50 > 0:36:52What on earth has he made for Jay?

0:36:54 > 0:36:56I'm really happy with the outcome of this one.

0:36:56 > 0:36:59I'm not sure Jay will be, cos I know he likes really bright stuff,

0:36:59 > 0:37:00and they're not bright

0:37:00 > 0:37:04and they're fairly unusual, so, yeah, I don't know.

0:37:05 > 0:37:08This wheelbarrow had Rupert flummoxed.

0:37:08 > 0:37:12He was in need of what he called a light bulb moment.

0:37:15 > 0:37:17Well, he got one.

0:37:17 > 0:37:19In fact, he got two.

0:37:21 > 0:37:25Rupert has created lamps from that rusty hunk of junk.

0:37:25 > 0:37:29Rather than try to hide the rust, he's brought it to the fore,

0:37:29 > 0:37:33glazing the scrunched and crunched metal to bring out the dark browns

0:37:33 > 0:37:35and oranges.

0:37:35 > 0:37:39It's got what I'm calling scrap yard chic to it.

0:37:40 > 0:37:44The bases and light rods were made from salvaged steel and brass,

0:37:44 > 0:37:47and welded to the chunks of wheelbarrow.

0:37:47 > 0:37:51Rupert was aiming to create a sculptural piece of work.

0:37:51 > 0:37:55It's a little bit arty, a little bit industrial,

0:37:55 > 0:37:56but what will Jay make of it?

0:37:59 > 0:38:01Rupert. Oh, wow, look at that.

0:38:01 > 0:38:04- That's good, man. I like that. - Thank you, Jay. You're welcome.

0:38:04 > 0:38:05That's my wheelbarrow, isn't it?

0:38:05 > 0:38:07Yeah, it is.

0:38:07 > 0:38:09It was. I mean, as you can see, in the end,

0:38:09 > 0:38:11I made a pair of lamps with it.

0:38:11 > 0:38:15- Yeah.- I wasn't sure what I was going to do for you, but there you go.

0:38:15 > 0:38:18So, how did you do... You're not that strong, are you?

0:38:18 > 0:38:19You didn't crush it with your bare hands?

0:38:19 > 0:38:24I did have some help from an incredibly powerful

0:38:24 > 0:38:26scrap-crushing machine,

0:38:26 > 0:38:27and, yeah, it was a fun process.

0:38:27 > 0:38:29Hold on, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down a minute.

0:38:29 > 0:38:32You took this, you know, where they crush the cars?

0:38:32 > 0:38:34- Is that what you're saying? - Yeah, exactly.

0:38:34 > 0:38:37- You took it to one of those? - Yeah. Yeah, it was a lot of fun.

0:38:37 > 0:38:38Oh, what? I like them.

0:38:38 > 0:38:40I like them both a lot.

0:38:40 > 0:38:43And now I like them even more, because I know you've crushed them.

0:38:43 > 0:38:45No, that's... That's brilliant.

0:38:45 > 0:38:47- Yeah.- So the next thing I want to ask is budget.

0:38:47 > 0:38:49I've gone slightly over budget.

0:38:49 > 0:38:51I know you left me with 200.

0:38:51 > 0:38:53Yeah, you've gone a fiver over budget?

0:38:53 > 0:38:56- Yeah?- I've gone a little more over budget.

0:38:56 > 0:38:58- I've gone to 260.- 260?

0:38:58 > 0:39:01- All right.- Which, in the end, things just added up and, yeah.

0:39:01 > 0:39:03So it's 260 for both of them?

0:39:03 > 0:39:04- For the pair.- I can manage that.

0:39:04 > 0:39:06- No, that's cool.- OK. - 260, so that's 130 each.

0:39:06 > 0:39:08Cool. I'm happy with that.

0:39:08 > 0:39:10And I get the lampshades? They're mine, yeah?

0:39:10 > 0:39:11Yeah, that's part of the deal.

0:39:11 > 0:39:14- You've got a deal, then, sir. - Excellent, thank you.

0:39:14 > 0:39:16- Thank you. Cheers for that, Rupert. - All right.- Take care.

0:39:18 > 0:39:20Oh, that was... That was pretty good.

0:39:20 > 0:39:23I think Jay was happy with that. So if Jay's happy, I'm happy.

0:39:23 > 0:39:27And another happy chappie is Tom.

0:39:27 > 0:39:29Jay sold him both lamps.

0:39:29 > 0:39:32He's giving them pride of place in his bar -

0:39:32 > 0:39:35the Hermitage Road in Hertfordshire.

0:39:35 > 0:39:38They are very cool, very original, very different.

0:39:38 > 0:39:40That's what we're about here, so, yeah, great pieces.

0:39:42 > 0:39:46Now Jay's on his way to Cassidy's home to tell him what became of his

0:39:46 > 0:39:47hunks of junk.

0:39:49 > 0:39:53Jay and I really hit it off, so I look forward to having a little bit more banter with him,

0:39:53 > 0:39:56and actually I kind of look forward to seeing what he's managed to do

0:39:56 > 0:40:00with the junk that he's taken from my back yard.

0:40:01 > 0:40:03Hey.

0:40:03 > 0:40:05- Hey, bud.- How are we doing? Are you all right?- I'm great, man.

0:40:05 > 0:40:08- Come in. Welcome back.- Thank you. - Come on in.

0:40:08 > 0:40:11OK, I'm not going to keep you in suspense any longer.

0:40:11 > 0:40:16- Good.- I took on the sandpit, and this is what I turned it into.

0:40:16 > 0:40:19- It's a sandpit...- Oh, wow, that's actually really nice!

0:40:19 > 0:40:21- I don't mean to sound so surprised. - You do sound a bit surprised.

0:40:21 > 0:40:24Well, wait, you did take a sandpit out of my back yard, right?

0:40:24 > 0:40:27It's... That would actually go really well in my bathroom.

0:40:27 > 0:40:29That's exactly what I made it for.

0:40:29 > 0:40:31Yeah, it's gorgeous. And it's got a shabby-chic look to it.

0:40:31 > 0:40:33- That's it.- Yeah, it's gorgeous.

0:40:33 > 0:40:35Well, you'll be pleased to know that I've sold this as well.

0:40:35 > 0:40:38- Oh, you've already sold it? - This one's already sold,

0:40:38 > 0:40:40and I make £36 profit on this.

0:40:40 > 0:40:43- That's excellent. - After all my costs and everything,

0:40:43 > 0:40:44paying for the mirrors and what have you.

0:40:44 > 0:40:48- Well, that's brilliant. - And then for your wheelbarrow,

0:40:48 > 0:40:50I took it to a guy called Rupert,

0:40:50 > 0:40:52and what he does with stuff is quite amazing,

0:40:52 > 0:40:56and he turned your wheelbarrow into two lamps.

0:40:59 > 0:41:02That doesn't... That doesn't count.

0:41:02 > 0:41:05That doesn't count. It looks like he's just put it in a car crusher

0:41:05 > 0:41:08and it just went... I mean, it's gorgeous. It's creative.

0:41:08 > 0:41:11Very gorgeous. I just... To be honest, I'm surprised.

0:41:11 > 0:41:14- Yeah?- I'm surprised because if you were to tell me that he was going to

0:41:14 > 0:41:16make a lamp out of a wheelbarrow, I would say, "OK, he'd take that bit

0:41:16 > 0:41:19"and that bit and cut that, put a bulb on that, a shade on there."

0:41:19 > 0:41:22I wouldn't expect him to bend the entire wheelbarrow into

0:41:22 > 0:41:24- the shape of a square. - I entirely agree with you.

0:41:24 > 0:41:25And we've sold this as well.

0:41:25 > 0:41:28- Yeah, so?- I've got an £85 profit we've made on that.

0:41:28 > 0:41:33- That's great.- So, in total, I have for you £121...

0:41:35 > 0:41:39- ..for your charity.- That's amazing! - Yeah, cool?- That is awesome.

0:41:39 > 0:41:42So, who is it going to? What charity is that going to?

0:41:42 > 0:41:44I've chosen the Royal British Legion.

0:41:44 > 0:41:46I chose them because they...

0:41:46 > 0:41:50Since coming out of my coma, and since really kind of

0:41:50 > 0:41:54starting to get a grip...to grips with what my body is capable and not

0:41:54 > 0:41:56capable of doing, they've kind of been with me

0:41:56 > 0:41:57the whole step of the way.

0:41:57 > 0:41:59You know, that right there, they'll be grateful for that,

0:41:59 > 0:42:01so this is good. You've done a good thing.

0:42:01 > 0:42:05- No, you've done a good thing, sir. - They'll be happy about this. - No, thank you.- Yeah, dude.

0:42:05 > 0:42:07- Any time. Come on over.- OK. - Come and take my junk any day.

0:42:07 > 0:42:09- I will do!- Do.

0:42:09 > 0:42:13The stuff Jay did with the old sandbox, that stuff's gorgeous.

0:42:13 > 0:42:15I mean, that's... That's the kind of stuff you could...

0:42:15 > 0:42:18You could go into any modern furniture shop to buy that,

0:42:18 > 0:42:20and so I'm a little impressed by that.

0:42:20 > 0:42:21And a little bit, erm...

0:42:21 > 0:42:24A little envious, cos if I'd known I could have done that myself,

0:42:24 > 0:42:26then we'd have two lovely shelves with mirrors hanging

0:42:26 > 0:42:28in our living room or bathroom right now.

0:42:30 > 0:42:33Jay sold the mirrors for £55.

0:42:33 > 0:42:38Minus his costs, he was left with a profit of 36 quid.

0:42:38 > 0:42:41The lamps sold for £345.

0:42:41 > 0:42:43Take away Rupert's spend,

0:42:43 > 0:42:46that gave Jay a profit of £85.

0:42:46 > 0:42:50Added together, Cassidy has £121 to

0:42:50 > 0:42:52donate to the Royal British Legion.

0:42:55 > 0:43:00Sarah and Jay have rejuvenated four pieces of celebrity junk.

0:43:02 > 0:43:06Once-cherished items that were ready to be chucked have been given a new

0:43:06 > 0:43:07lease of life.

0:43:08 > 0:43:11Hidden gems have been discovered and transformed,

0:43:11 > 0:43:14to take pride of place in new homes.

0:43:16 > 0:43:19Well, with the help of the brilliant Norman and Rupert...

0:43:19 > 0:43:20We've crushed a profit

0:43:20 > 0:43:22out of four items that were destined for the tip.

0:43:22 > 0:43:25And handed over some Money For Nothing

0:43:25 > 0:43:26to two great charities.
