0:00:02 > 0:00:06Many of us live on estates like this one all over the United Kingdom.

0:00:06 > 0:00:07And although we live close to one another,

0:00:07 > 0:00:10we never really get to know our neighbour.

0:00:10 > 0:00:11Well, today, for this street,

0:00:11 > 0:00:14all of that is going to change because the whole community

0:00:14 > 0:00:18is coming together for one massive fundraising street party.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21And it's all for an incredible local couple

0:00:21 > 0:00:22that do so much for others.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24Without people like Chris and Steve,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27we just wouldn't be able to fundraise. They're amazing.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30They do things that keep it going for the rest of us.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32It's their way of giving back.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34If you've got a positive mind, you can do anything.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37They carry on helping despite their own struggles.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40First, pioneering heart transplant.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42It was a do or die situation.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44So poorly, weren't you?

0:00:44 > 0:00:47You can never be anything but forever grateful to the donor.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50And now, there's more devastating news.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51Steve needs a new kidney

0:00:51 > 0:00:54and this time the donor is a lot closer to home.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57Most of the family were tested but Mum is a match.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00She's given him the ultimate gift, hasn't she?

0:01:00 > 0:01:02She's a bit of a hero, really.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04We'll be relying on the generosity of their neighbours

0:01:04 > 0:01:09to raise the £900 we need to buy them a unique present.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12That is brilliant, are you giving us that?

0:01:12 > 0:01:14You collect die-cast vehicles!

0:01:14 > 0:01:17This street party is for them.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20And the great thing is they have not got a clue.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23And how will they react when they find out it's all for them?

0:01:23 > 0:01:26All of this is for you. This is your party.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35Today we're in Hucclecote,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37a village that grew up on the Roman road

0:01:37 > 0:01:39between Cirencester and Gloucester.

0:01:39 > 0:01:43These days, many of its 10,000 residents work in the city

0:01:43 > 0:01:47a few miles away, but it's also home to a number of retirees,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49like Chris and Steve Sire.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51They know that we're in the neighbourhood raising money

0:01:51 > 0:01:54to say a big thank you to a local unsung hero.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58But they're completely unaware that all of this is for them.

0:01:58 > 0:02:02Chris and Steve met when they began working in their first jobs.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05And now they've been married for more than 52 years.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09She was the young lady that kept walking up and down the corridor.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11- And caught my eye. - HE LAUGHS

0:02:11 > 0:02:15- Once we met up, we clicked, didn't we?- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17Dad's very soft and very gentle.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20I think Mum's, she's the one that drives them forwards.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24They're just...perfect, I've got perfect parents.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28Son Tim and daughter Claire were born just 18 months apart,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31a few years into the marriage.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33And the family enjoyed a happy life together

0:02:33 > 0:02:37right up until the start of the New Year of 1984.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41I came home, I said to Chris, "I don't feel too good,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43"I reckon I've got the flu coming or something."

0:02:43 > 0:02:47But it soon became apparent this is not just the flu.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50There was something seriously wrong with Steve's heart.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53And we went to see the consultant in the hospital.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56And he said, "Well, Mrs Sire,

0:02:56 > 0:03:00"you do realise that the probability of you taking

0:03:00 > 0:03:03"your husband out of this hospital in anything other than

0:03:03 > 0:03:06"a black bag is unlikely."

0:03:06 > 0:03:09It was a do or die situation, so they had to do it,

0:03:09 > 0:03:10he had no other option.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14And there he was. You were so poorly, weren't you?

0:03:14 > 0:03:18After six weeks of Steve's life hanging in the balance,

0:03:18 > 0:03:19a decision was made.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22He was to become only the 87th person in the UK

0:03:22 > 0:03:25to have a heart transplant.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28You can never be anything but forever grateful to the donor.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32I think you feel like that for evermore.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37For Steve, it was a second chance at life.

0:03:37 > 0:03:42We decided that we'd try and do something to put something back

0:03:42 > 0:03:43into the system.

0:03:43 > 0:03:48As soon as he became fit, he started running, he started biking.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50It's their way of giving back.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53The couple threw themselves into raising money and awareness

0:03:53 > 0:03:55for the work of the British Heart Foundation.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59The Cheltenham branch has probably raised something like

0:03:59 > 0:04:02£1.7 million over the 30 years.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05It's all in your mind, if you've got a positive mind,

0:04:05 > 0:04:06you can do anything.

0:04:06 > 0:04:10Steve's heart has now been beating longer than almost all other

0:04:10 > 0:04:12heart transplant patients in the country.

0:04:12 > 0:04:16But he's now facing more surgery, he needs a new kidney.

0:04:16 > 0:04:20Dad would never have got a kidney through normal kidney donation,

0:04:20 > 0:04:23through an unknown donor,

0:04:23 > 0:04:26because of his age and all those sort of underlying factors.

0:04:26 > 0:04:30So most of the family were tested but Mum is a match.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33She's a bit of a hero, isn't she?

0:04:33 > 0:04:36One of the nurses said to me, in Southmead, she said,

0:04:36 > 0:04:38"How can you say thank you to her?"

0:04:38 > 0:04:42I said, "Well, I shall have to go on loving her for evermore, won't I?"

0:04:45 > 0:04:48Chris and Steve's operation is happening just 10 days before

0:04:48 > 0:04:51our street auction so we don't actually know if they'll be

0:04:51 > 0:04:53well enough to join in.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55But we're hoping they will be there because we've arranged

0:04:55 > 0:04:59a unique and very personal gift to mark the occasion.

0:04:59 > 0:05:01A sculpture commissioned just for them.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03We've arranged another treat for them too,

0:05:03 > 0:05:07a meal in a fancy local restaurant for when they're fully recovered.

0:05:07 > 0:05:11But to raise the £900 we need, we're going to have to work hard.

0:05:11 > 0:05:13We're asking everybody in this neighbourhood to donate

0:05:13 > 0:05:17unwanted and unloved items so we can sell them at our street party

0:05:17 > 0:05:20on the bric-a-brac stalls and on the pop-up rostrum.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22And if we find anything really special,

0:05:22 > 0:05:26we'll send it off to an auction house to try for the big bucks.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28It's a good job I'm not alone doing this.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31I've asked toy expert and auctioneer Tim Weeks to give me a hand.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35- Good morning, Tim.- How you doing? - I'm very well, thank you.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38- We've got our work cut out today. - I'm pumped up, ready to go.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40We're going to knock on all these doors in this neighbourhood.

0:05:40 > 0:05:43Because we're helping out a great couple, Stephen and Chris,

0:05:43 > 0:05:46and Stephen has gone through so much in his life.

0:05:46 > 0:05:48He had a heart transplant in the '80s,

0:05:48 > 0:05:52- very successful but now he needs a kidney transplant.- Oh, no.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55- And guess who's going to give him the kidney transplant?- Go on.

0:05:55 > 0:05:58- His wife, Chris.- Really? His wife? - Yeah, I know.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00- Whoa.- That's love.- Yeah!

0:06:00 > 0:06:03So we've got to help them because despite all of that, they carry on

0:06:03 > 0:06:06doing so much work around here in this community helping others.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09- That's why we're here. - Shall we go this way and that way?

0:06:09 > 0:06:11'So, there's no time to lose.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14'The people of Hucclecote, what have you got for us?'

0:06:16 > 0:06:20- It's certainly peaceful around here. - I love the signs they've got.

0:06:22 > 0:06:26So quiet, isn't it? You notice anything that moves in the street.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29In fact, the only noise I can hear is us!

0:06:32 > 0:06:35'But hang on, I think there's signs of life up ahead.'

0:06:35 > 0:06:39- Good morning. - Good morning to you.- Hello, there.

0:06:39 > 0:06:43- Are you, you're not looking for antiques, are you?- Well, anything.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46I'm looking for anything right now. Anything that makes money.

0:06:46 > 0:06:50- My other half in here, you can have her, she's antique.- Is she?

0:06:50 > 0:06:53At least the locals have a cracking sense of humour.

0:06:53 > 0:06:56Alan's delightful wife Sue has found something for me.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58- It is an old picture. - It's massive, isn't it?

0:06:58 > 0:07:00- Somebody like might like it.- Yeah.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02- That's what we call a furnishing picture.- Yeah.

0:07:02 > 0:07:05- Because it fills a big wall. - It does.- It does, doesn't it?

0:07:05 > 0:07:07Well, thank you very much.

0:07:07 > 0:07:11Well, that's the first item of the day, a big, bold floral print.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14That's sure to make us a few pounds on the bric-a-brac stall.

0:07:14 > 0:07:16And Sue's going to try and find something

0:07:16 > 0:07:18for our street auction too.

0:07:18 > 0:07:22Talking of streets, it looks like Tim's stopping cars now.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24- She lives up the road. - OK, I'll meet you at the shops.

0:07:24 > 0:07:26- OK.- Let's go!

0:07:26 > 0:07:28Yes!

0:07:28 > 0:07:31They're up for it, I can tell, this is going to be great.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33So let's go see what they can find.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36That sounds promising from friends Sophie and Sophie.

0:07:38 > 0:07:40Shame they didn't give you a lift, though, Tim!

0:07:42 > 0:07:45I'm taking a more leisurely walk down to John's tool shed.

0:07:45 > 0:07:48I can open these drawers, there is... It's awful.

0:07:48 > 0:07:52- Do you want me to give you a hand? - Which one... This one...- Gosh!

0:07:52 > 0:07:53THEY LAUGH

0:07:56 > 0:07:59Does it take this long with all your customers?

0:07:59 > 0:08:01God, he's a genius, this lad.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04- Thanks, John!- There we are. - There they are.

0:08:04 > 0:08:06There's a few there, look.

0:08:06 > 0:08:08'These beechwood moulding planes were made to create

0:08:08 > 0:08:12'the decorative profiles found in furniture and picture frames.

0:08:12 > 0:08:16'They may be old tech but they're still used by cabinet makers

0:08:16 > 0:08:18'and furniture restorers today.'

0:08:18 > 0:08:20We'll have the mice droppings!

0:08:20 > 0:08:25'I think John's planes could make us £10-£15 on the bric-a-brac stall.'

0:08:25 > 0:08:27- The boss is back. - Oh, the boss is here!

0:08:27 > 0:08:31Just going to wash my hands, get the mouse droppings off.

0:08:33 > 0:08:35We're knocking on doors asking people to donate

0:08:35 > 0:08:37unwanted and unloved items.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39Oh, the one you'll do with Paul Martin?

0:08:39 > 0:08:42- That's right.- This is him. - This is me!

0:08:42 > 0:08:43- Oh, you are Paul!- Yeah!

0:08:43 > 0:08:45I didn't recognise you.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47He's more handsome, I think, really.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49He's a handsome man, isn't he?

0:08:49 > 0:08:51THEY LAUGH

0:08:53 > 0:08:54'Right, moving on!

0:08:54 > 0:08:58'It looks like Tim's finally caught up with Sophie and Sophie.'

0:08:58 > 0:09:01So, I know you mentioned a flat tyre, I can see that at the front,

0:09:01 > 0:09:03but overall, that is in pretty good nick.

0:09:03 > 0:09:07- You've hardly got on this at all, have you?- No.- How old is it?

0:09:07 > 0:09:11- It's not that old at all, over a year old, I think.- Well done.

0:09:11 > 0:09:13- Thank you so much.- And it's going to a good cause.- Absolutely.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15It all works.

0:09:15 > 0:09:17Now, I'm really cheeky, so that's really generous of you.

0:09:17 > 0:09:19But what else have you got?

0:09:19 > 0:09:22Well, you've got to give Tim credit,

0:09:22 > 0:09:24he's working hard for these donations.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Something that could be interesting here.

0:09:26 > 0:09:27- Yes!- Can you believe that?

0:09:27 > 0:09:30- It lights up, it looks fab. - I want that.

0:09:30 > 0:09:31- You can have that.- Can I?

0:09:31 > 0:09:34- Yes, you can have that.- Fantastic. How does the song go?

0:09:34 > 0:09:37# We're walking in the air... #

0:09:37 > 0:09:39Perfect! There we go.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42And that's music to my ears, much like this.

0:09:42 > 0:09:46- My name's Joy. - Joy, pleased to meet you, Joy.

0:09:46 > 0:09:49That's a great name because you're bringing me happiness and joy.

0:09:49 > 0:09:53- I've got this very old sewing machine.- Oh, is it a Singer?

0:09:53 > 0:09:56It's a Frister Rossmann. It's very old, almost antique.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59'Well, it's not quite 100 years old but it's definitely getting there.

0:09:59 > 0:10:01'This model could be pre-1920s,

0:10:01 > 0:10:03'and is made by the European rival

0:10:03 > 0:10:06'to the American sewing machine giant Singer.'

0:10:06 > 0:10:10And it actually does work. I think if I pull this out, sorry.

0:10:10 > 0:10:15- It actually does work. It's very antiquey.- Oh, brilliant.

0:10:15 > 0:10:19I like the fact that the case, look, has been made by craftsmen as well.

0:10:19 > 0:10:23Its box. You can see that, it's got a quarter veneer walnut on the top.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26- But look at all this, this inlay. - What do they call that?

0:10:26 > 0:10:28- It's like a Tunbridge. - It's not marquetry?

0:10:28 > 0:10:30It is marquetry, yes, you're right.

0:10:30 > 0:10:33But because it's geometric, you could also call it parquetry.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36It might be worth getting the experts at the sale room

0:10:36 > 0:10:37to take a look at this.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40Rare sewing machines are collectable.

0:10:42 > 0:10:45Now, it looks like Tim's stumbled on a garden clear out.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47He's bagged a full patio set there.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50New, this would cost at least £100.

0:10:50 > 0:10:54And it looks like Nigel is wanting his garage cleared too.

0:10:54 > 0:10:56So, what's the deal, before I look and get too excited,

0:10:56 > 0:10:59- anything and everything is up for grabs?- Take anything you like.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02I can have a good old rummage through. Can I get stuck in?

0:11:02 > 0:11:05- Yes.- OK. Let's see what we've got. - Can I go back to where I was?

0:11:05 > 0:11:07- You just want to leave me? And I can take whatever I want?- Yes.

0:11:07 > 0:11:11- And I'm not going to get in trouble if this is empty?- No, no.

0:11:11 > 0:11:15- I want it empty.- Thank you so much. What a star.- I'll be around.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18Thank you. All the best. Cheers, sir.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21That's great, it's my dream come true, free rein,

0:11:21 > 0:11:23get what I want, I'm on a winner here.

0:11:23 > 0:11:25Tim's certainly getting quantity,

0:11:25 > 0:11:29but it looks like he may have found some quality in there.

0:11:29 > 0:11:31So, for me, it's in the style of an Ercol,

0:11:31 > 0:11:34which is so in vogue at the moment. Everybody wants a bit of Ercol.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37Which is something you might not be able to sell five years ago

0:11:37 > 0:11:39but now everybody's looking for it.

0:11:39 > 0:11:41It's a good time to sell Ercol so hopefully we'll find that as well,

0:11:41 > 0:11:46people will see the style that this has got. It's a lovely size.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48Really, really sweet chair.

0:11:48 > 0:11:49These are definitely in vogue,

0:11:49 > 0:11:53retro Scandinavian furniture is very much in demand.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56A genuine Ercol stick back chair in good condition

0:11:56 > 0:11:57would easily fetch £50,

0:11:57 > 0:12:00but this one's not Ercol and it's got damage.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03So I think this is destined for our bric-a-brac stall.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05It might still get us a few pounds, though.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08I'm absolutely filthy but I absolutely don't care because

0:12:08 > 0:12:09I've hit the jackpot.

0:12:12 > 0:12:14Tim's sitting pretty after that haul.

0:12:14 > 0:12:16'But there's no time for me to sit down,

0:12:16 > 0:12:18'I'm on my way to Chris and Steve's door.'

0:12:18 > 0:12:21I don't want to blow this, I've got to get in there,

0:12:21 > 0:12:23have a rummage in their house

0:12:23 > 0:12:26and find out as much as I can about them as possible.

0:12:26 > 0:12:31Basically, be nosy, but don't get caught out. So wish me luck.

0:12:31 > 0:12:32MACHINERY WHIRRING

0:12:32 > 0:12:36'It doesn't look like Steve's taking it easy today!'

0:12:36 > 0:12:39- Good morning.- Oh, good morning, it's Paul Martin from the BBC.

0:12:39 > 0:12:40- Oh, hello!- Hello there!

0:12:40 > 0:12:43- Did you get a flyer through your door?- We did, yeah.

0:12:47 > 0:12:50Steve, thank you very much for helping out if you can.

0:12:50 > 0:12:54We've got a 1964 kitchen table. Formica topped.

0:12:54 > 0:12:561964, how about that?

0:12:56 > 0:12:59Is that because you know it's 1964? You bought it in 1964?

0:12:59 > 0:13:02- It was a wedding present. - That was the year we got married.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05Was it a wedding present? I'd love that, because that's really retro and in vogue.

0:13:05 > 0:13:08- Are you sure we can have your wedding present?- Yes, yes!

0:13:08 > 0:13:10- Who bought you that, then? - Steve's grandparents.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13'Well, they're certainly generous.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16'Giving away a wedding present after 52 years.'

0:13:16 > 0:13:17Comes complete with legs.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20'A beechwood kitchen table with a Formica top.

0:13:20 > 0:13:23'I'm going to pop this one onto my auction.

0:13:23 > 0:13:26'I think I could get £30-£40 for this,

0:13:26 > 0:13:28'maybe more if the right buyer is out there.'

0:13:28 > 0:13:32- So, what do you do in your retirement?- Fundraise.- Oh, do you?

0:13:32 > 0:13:37- For the local charity.- James Hopkins Trust.- I've not heard of that.

0:13:37 > 0:13:42Oh, they give respite care to children under five that have got

0:13:42 > 0:13:44- terminally ill, life-threatening... - Oh, really?

0:13:44 > 0:13:46..problems, health problems.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49- So what do you do for them? - Oh, anything.

0:13:49 > 0:13:51- Make things?- Fetes, those sort of things.- Oh, right, I see.

0:13:51 > 0:13:55- So you collect and stuff and do fundraising for them?- Yeah, yeah.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58- How long have you been doing that? - On and off for 28 years.- Blimey.

0:13:58 > 0:14:01- Do you want another story? - Go on, then.

0:14:01 > 0:14:05- It's 32 years since I had a heart transplant.- Really?- Yeah.

0:14:05 > 0:14:09- So that was right in the early days? - 1984.

0:14:09 > 0:14:12- Not one of the first, were you? - No, no, I was about...

0:14:15 > 0:14:17- Number 87!- Something like that.

0:14:17 > 0:14:22And on 2nd August, I get a new kidney from my dear wife.

0:14:22 > 0:14:26- You've got kidney problems as well? - Yeah.- And you're donating a kidney?

0:14:26 > 0:14:29- Yeah.- Wow!

0:14:29 > 0:14:32- On the 14th, when you're having... - Having a street party.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34We will have just come home from hospital,

0:14:34 > 0:14:37that will be about our first, we will be out there with you.

0:14:37 > 0:14:40Oh, thank you! Well, look, don't push it! I mean, crikey!

0:14:40 > 0:14:42It gives us something to look forward to.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45We're not allowed to hang around in bed, we've got to get up and walk!

0:14:45 > 0:14:47Look, I'm going to have to leave you,

0:14:47 > 0:14:48I've got lots of doors to knock on.

0:14:48 > 0:14:51- I know you're really busy. - That's OK.

0:14:51 > 0:14:53Good luck with the operation. Good luck.

0:14:53 > 0:14:56And if I do see you there, it'll be a lovely surprise for me.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58Don't worry.

0:14:58 > 0:15:02If we're home and we're well enough, we'll be out there, don't you worry.

0:15:08 > 0:15:10Wow! Wow, what a happy guy!

0:15:10 > 0:15:13And what a lovely couple, so in love with each other.

0:15:13 > 0:15:18That's how every, every family should be, have parents like that.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20Wow. Reminds me of my mum and dad,

0:15:20 > 0:15:23but they didn't go through anything like that.

0:15:23 > 0:15:24Looks well on it, doesn't he?

0:15:24 > 0:15:28I didn't know what to expect when I knocked on the door. But...

0:15:28 > 0:15:31Yeah, we've got to do this, we've got to do this for them.

0:15:31 > 0:15:35And I know, I know, I just know we're going to get away with it

0:15:35 > 0:15:38because they have no idea this is about them.

0:15:38 > 0:15:41Now, while I'm in the neighbourhood, I'm going to pop round and visit

0:15:41 > 0:15:44the local charity that Chris and Steve do so much for.

0:15:46 > 0:15:49The James Hopkins Trust cares for children with life-shortening

0:15:49 > 0:15:53or terminal illness, and they're reliant on volunteers.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58Steve and Chris do things that keep it going for the rest of us,

0:15:58 > 0:16:01and the families wouldn't be able to use it without people like them

0:16:01 > 0:16:03putting their time and effort in.

0:16:03 > 0:16:05It's an absolutely amazing organisation,

0:16:05 > 0:16:08I didn't know anything about it till I had him.

0:16:08 > 0:16:11But it's really been a great help and support for us.

0:16:11 > 0:16:13He loves it here. It's amazing what they do.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16As soon as we walk through the door, his legs start going,

0:16:16 > 0:16:19he knows he's coming. Don't you?

0:16:19 > 0:16:23Rhea, the volunteer coordinator, knows the couple well.

0:16:23 > 0:16:26They help out with all of the events that we do.

0:16:26 > 0:16:30They organise all of the donations that come in.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32So, what do you know about Stephen's health?

0:16:32 > 0:16:36I know that he needs a kidney transplant

0:16:36 > 0:16:38- and I know that... - Chris is the donor.

0:16:38 > 0:16:42..Chris is donating that and I think that is just remarkable.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44- Brilliant, isn't it? - It's remarkable,

0:16:44 > 0:16:47but they carry on regardless of this hell.

0:16:47 > 0:16:49But they are dedicated couple, they really are.

0:16:49 > 0:16:53The work that Chris, Steve and the other volunteers do here

0:16:53 > 0:16:56is helping more than 90 local children and their families.

0:16:56 > 0:17:00It's good to help people that are less fortunate.

0:17:00 > 0:17:03There were times when he used to say,

0:17:03 > 0:17:05"I'm so glad I've only had a heart transplant!"

0:17:06 > 0:17:10But now the couple are facing another life-changing operation,

0:17:10 > 0:17:12and that's happening just before our street auction

0:17:12 > 0:17:17in a few weeks' time. So right now, we need to get busy.

0:17:17 > 0:17:18Back on the street,

0:17:18 > 0:17:21and it looks like Tim's got big ideas for a Mini motor.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24Tell me about this, then, this is yours, obviously?

0:17:24 > 0:17:26- This is my baby, my pride and joy.- I can tell.

0:17:26 > 0:17:28So, the reason I'm here today is we're trying to raise funds

0:17:28 > 0:17:30for some very important people within this community

0:17:30 > 0:17:32who live just around the corner.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35What are the chances of you bringing this baby on the day?

0:17:35 > 0:17:39From belonging to a part of the Gloucester Mini Owners Club...

0:17:39 > 0:17:41- Really?- We could have 10 there. - Can you get 10?

0:17:41 > 0:17:44- Well, I'll try my best. - That would be amazing. Thank you.

0:17:44 > 0:17:47So hopefully, there's going to be some vintage Minis

0:17:47 > 0:17:50turning up on the day, that's going to be really, really cool.

0:17:50 > 0:17:53Good job, Tim! Hopefully that'll get the crowds motoring in.

0:17:53 > 0:17:58- Oh, are you an artist?- Well... - Oh, a dabbler.

0:17:58 > 0:18:00I'm a dabbler, like so many people.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03That is brilliant. Are you giving us that?

0:18:03 > 0:18:06Well, actually, my husband bought it for me and I never...

0:18:06 > 0:18:10I said, he has visions of me going out in the country.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12You know what they call that, don't you?

0:18:12 > 0:18:16- En plein air.- Well... - Painting en plein air.

0:18:16 > 0:18:20- Right.- Like Turner.- All in my mind.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23So pretty well it's brand-new, apart from the cobwebs.

0:18:23 > 0:18:26Do you know what, it's in mint condition, isn't it?

0:18:26 > 0:18:28- You're welcome to it. - It's a collapsible easel.

0:18:28 > 0:18:31- I know you like a bit of wood. - I do and I love my easels as well

0:18:31 > 0:18:33and I can see that's quality throughout.

0:18:33 > 0:18:36You open that up, it extends, it's got a tripod base.

0:18:36 > 0:18:37It's got space inside.

0:18:37 > 0:18:41It's got space inside for all your brushes and watercolours.

0:18:41 > 0:18:44Any budding artists would love to get their hands on that.

0:18:44 > 0:18:47New, that would cost between £100 and £150.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50A really generous donation, and that's not all.

0:18:50 > 0:18:53Betty's also giving this print of 18th-century Gloucester.

0:18:53 > 0:18:57It's local history, isn't it? So, you know, we need to sell it here.

0:18:57 > 0:19:00- Right.- Look, you've been really generous.- No, that's fine.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03- This, for me, today, is our star item.- Right.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05- Thank you.- It's all down to you.

0:19:05 > 0:19:07Well, that's some real quality for my line-up.

0:19:07 > 0:19:11If Tim wants to catch up, he's going to need to get his skates on.

0:19:11 > 0:19:13We'll have a proper look at this one.

0:19:13 > 0:19:17I think Tim is gearing up for another garage clear out.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19- OK. - Well, the mountain board is good,

0:19:19 > 0:19:22that'll retail at around £150 new.

0:19:22 > 0:19:25But the jacket probably could've stayed on for that one, Tim!

0:19:25 > 0:19:27Well, I've come to the right door here.

0:19:27 > 0:19:30Michael's already found me two pieces of furniture.

0:19:30 > 0:19:34A smoking cabinet and an Edwardian occasional table.

0:19:34 > 0:19:37If you don't want these, we will take them from you.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39'And he's got a stool in the shed I can take too.

0:19:41 > 0:19:44'These three have got upcycling written all over them.'

0:19:44 > 0:19:45Wow.

0:19:45 > 0:19:48We can give this oak stool a new lease of life,

0:19:48 > 0:19:50we can upcycle that, paint it a bright colour.

0:19:50 > 0:19:53That just needs got gloss black, ebonising.

0:19:53 > 0:19:56And then gilding on the top and rubbing back

0:19:56 > 0:20:01so all of that impression, all of that cutaway comes out gold.

0:20:01 > 0:20:02That will look great, and then varnish it.

0:20:02 > 0:20:05And I think this in a kid's bedroom,

0:20:05 > 0:20:07with this little rack here used as a book rack,

0:20:07 > 0:20:09a nice shelf for kids' sized books,

0:20:09 > 0:20:14and paint it a bright colour but then paint lots of flowers,

0:20:14 > 0:20:15lots of big petals on it,

0:20:15 > 0:20:18ladybirds and bumblebees and butterflies,

0:20:18 > 0:20:20make it like a nature cabinet.

0:20:20 > 0:20:22It will look brilliant.

0:20:22 > 0:20:26Well, Tim's primed and ready again in front of a garage.

0:20:26 > 0:20:29I've been going all over the area today, and I honestly,

0:20:29 > 0:20:31I'm struggling to fit it into the van what people have donated,

0:20:31 > 0:20:36they've been so generous. I'm missing an item of quality.

0:20:36 > 0:20:40So I'm looking at you as the day is drawing to a close.

0:20:40 > 0:20:42- Let's see. - You can't have what's here.

0:20:42 > 0:20:43OK, so I can't have this.

0:20:43 > 0:20:47Is it a treasure chest? Oh, wow! Crikey.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49No, Tim's not interested in motorbikes.

0:20:49 > 0:20:51What Tim's really interested in is...

0:20:51 > 0:20:56- HE GASPS - You collect die-cast vehicles!

0:20:56 > 0:20:57Yeah, I do.

0:20:57 > 0:20:59Wow.

0:20:59 > 0:21:01And do you have them out on display?

0:21:01 > 0:21:05- Or are they all in there? - No. They're in the house.- Really?

0:21:05 > 0:21:08This is the end of the day that Tim dreamt of.

0:21:08 > 0:21:12And you're seriously willing to let me choose whichever one I want?

0:21:12 > 0:21:15- Yeah.- Really? What do you think I want?

0:21:15 > 0:21:16Look right!

0:21:16 > 0:21:19- What, the Wimpey?- Yeah.

0:21:19 > 0:21:24- Do you know what, that's too high. - No, no, no, you can have the Wimpey.

0:21:24 > 0:21:25- Are you sure?- Yeah.

0:21:25 > 0:21:27This is from Corgi's Building Britain series,

0:21:27 > 0:21:30produced from the mid-1990s.

0:21:30 > 0:21:32I think this truck is around ten years old.

0:21:32 > 0:21:35It's limited edition and sought-after by collectors.

0:21:35 > 0:21:38- Right, shall we go and grab the box? - Yeah, sure thing.- Lovely.

0:21:38 > 0:21:42As with all collectables, packaging is a must.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45And Tom's kept the boxes and the certificate for his collection.

0:21:45 > 0:21:49What have you got? You've kept the corgi!

0:21:50 > 0:21:53Another tick on the Corgi collectors' checklist,

0:21:53 > 0:21:56this easy-to-lose figurine of the dog from the manufacturer's logo.

0:21:56 > 0:21:59Thank you, Tom, and seriously, thank you so much.

0:22:00 > 0:22:03That's a great find, right at the end of the day.

0:22:03 > 0:22:07Time to add it to our other donations and see how we both fared.

0:22:10 > 0:22:14Well, Tim, it's the end of the day, the van's been unpacked.

0:22:14 > 0:22:18Your line is looking very healthy. A lot of quantity.

0:22:20 > 0:22:24- You look at that line.- I prefer your line to my line.- A bit more quality.

0:22:24 > 0:22:28Didn't do as well as you but I think monetary wise,

0:22:28 > 0:22:29I think there's some potential here.

0:22:29 > 0:22:33First on the list, a trio ripe for upcycling.

0:22:33 > 0:22:37I've got a stool, a little tiny lamp table,

0:22:37 > 0:22:39cum-jardiniere sort of holder,

0:22:39 > 0:22:41and a little tiny cabinet.

0:22:41 > 0:22:43They're all circa 1920, they're beechwood,

0:22:43 > 0:22:45they've been stained black, ebonised,

0:22:45 > 0:22:47but I think give them a pretty coat of paint,

0:22:47 > 0:22:51and maybe feature a bit of detail, a bit of something interesting.

0:22:51 > 0:22:54- It's what they need.- Yes.- That's going to be the one, isn't it?

0:22:54 > 0:22:56- You've got a feeling for that. - I have.

0:22:56 > 0:23:00I think that's the easy one to sell but I think that one makes the most money.

0:23:00 > 0:23:02Now, my star find has to be this easel.

0:23:02 > 0:23:04It is new, it's brand-new.

0:23:04 > 0:23:07But to buy something like that from an art stationery shop,

0:23:07 > 0:23:09- you're looking at £100. - Yeah, yeah.

0:23:09 > 0:23:13And now Chris and Steve's kitchen table. A classic bit of retro.

0:23:13 > 0:23:181964, I can date that to 1964, not because I'm an expert!

0:23:18 > 0:23:21Because Stephen and Chris got that as a wedding gift.

0:23:21 > 0:23:23That's awesome, that's from them?

0:23:23 > 0:23:25Now... Item to go off to the sale room.

0:23:25 > 0:23:27I like it already.

0:23:27 > 0:23:31It's not a Singer, but look at the top, it's inlaid, great cabinetry.

0:23:31 > 0:23:32Just for the case.

0:23:32 > 0:23:34And I think we put that into auction, let the auctioneer

0:23:34 > 0:23:39do the work on that one and hopefully get in between 30 and £40.

0:23:39 > 0:23:42- That's what I'm hoping. It is a collectable.- Yeah, absolutely.

0:23:42 > 0:23:44Talking of collectables, I've got something but I left it

0:23:44 > 0:23:47- in the van because the rain's started.- For the auction room?

0:23:47 > 0:23:48Oh, it's got to be quite special

0:23:48 > 0:23:51if it's hidden in the van out of the rain.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54- This is a surprise.- Are you ready? - Is it big?- It's quite big.

0:23:54 > 0:23:58- Collectable's about that, isn't it? - You've got it right, that would fit.

0:23:58 > 0:24:01- How about that?- Oh, well, you're the toy man!- I know, I was so excited.

0:24:01 > 0:24:05- I was shaking.- And lorries make top money in toys.- Spot-on.

0:24:05 > 0:24:07It's the number one subject to get for die-cast.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10I'm going to guide it 30 to 40.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13- And let's see where that one can go. - Who knows?

0:24:13 > 0:24:15It could do 80 quid on a good day, if two people want it.

0:24:15 > 0:24:19- That's it, you got it.- Well done. Get it back in the van, keep it dry.

0:24:20 > 0:24:23See? Got the right man for the job!

0:24:23 > 0:24:27But I think, at the end of the day, looking at the lines,

0:24:27 > 0:24:30I've got some quality there, you've got some quantity there.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33- We call it a draw because you've worked just as hard as I have.- You're right.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36Come the day, come the hour,

0:24:36 > 0:24:41when this community come together and we have more items to sell.

0:24:41 > 0:24:42I think we are going to do it, you know,

0:24:42 > 0:24:47everybody loves what this cause is all about. And you know what?

0:24:47 > 0:24:50We've got to make this work because that couple are just fantastic

0:24:50 > 0:24:52and I just hope they turn up.

0:24:52 > 0:24:55I hope that operation is a success, nothing goes wrong,

0:24:55 > 0:24:59and they turn up because they will have the surprise of a lifetime.

0:24:59 > 0:25:03But will today's haul be enough to get us to our target?

0:25:04 > 0:25:06Well, the waiting is over,

0:25:06 > 0:25:09it's the morning of the auction and everyone's getting stuck in.

0:25:09 > 0:25:12- Catch!- Thank you.

0:25:12 > 0:25:15Steve and Chris's neighbours are here to help too.

0:25:15 > 0:25:17Everyone's playing their part.

0:25:17 > 0:25:19It's OK, shall I just stand here for the day?

0:25:19 > 0:25:23June's organising the bric-a-brac. Remember Joy?

0:25:23 > 0:25:24She's at the cake stall.

0:25:24 > 0:25:27Everywhere is looking fabulous.

0:25:27 > 0:25:31But the best news is that Chris and Steve are safely back from hospital

0:25:31 > 0:25:33and recuperating at home.

0:25:33 > 0:25:36But will they be well enough to join us for their big surprise?

0:25:38 > 0:25:40Good morning, everyone. Our volunteers.

0:25:40 > 0:25:43This would not work without you.

0:25:43 > 0:25:45Tim and I and the team can't do this by ourselves.

0:25:45 > 0:25:49We're relying on you to have big smiles on your faces.

0:25:49 > 0:25:51So who's doing teas, coffees and cakes? Grace?

0:25:54 > 0:25:56LAUGHTER

0:25:56 > 0:25:58She does, doesn't she? Who else, who have you got helping you?

0:26:02 > 0:26:03Sarah, bric-a-brac.

0:26:03 > 0:26:06OK, we don't want to be left with anything at the end of the day.

0:26:06 > 0:26:09We don't want to go home with this bric-a-brac. Everything is pounds.

0:26:09 > 0:26:13We have to keep it really quiet because they only live just there.

0:26:13 > 0:26:17But we're hoping to raise £900 here today. That is a big ask.

0:26:17 > 0:26:21But the community pulling together will make this work. £900.

0:26:21 > 0:26:24- So, can we do this? ALL:- Yes!

0:26:24 > 0:26:26That's the spirit!

0:26:26 > 0:26:28Chris and Steve's neighbours are all pulling together.

0:26:28 > 0:26:32Providing everyone digs deep, maybe we can get there.

0:26:32 > 0:26:33Tell you the truth,

0:26:33 > 0:26:35I've got an appointment with a friend of mine

0:26:46 > 0:26:49This is my chance to see how Chris and Steve are doing.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52But I've got to tread carefully, can't blow this now.

0:26:52 > 0:26:58- You look familiar.- I'm the lady who...you took the table off of.

0:26:58 > 0:26:59Oh, yes!

0:26:59 > 0:27:02The 1950s table, the Formica one. Was that yours?

0:27:02 > 0:27:04- It's over there.- That's it.

0:27:04 > 0:27:08I remember now. I remember. I remember.

0:27:08 > 0:27:09Are you helping us out today?

0:27:09 > 0:27:11- You said you were going into... - That's right.

0:27:11 > 0:27:14- Did you go to hospital?- I did. - What did you have done?

0:27:22 > 0:27:25- He's up and about already?- He'll come out later.- You're looking good.

0:27:25 > 0:27:29- I feel absolutely fine. It's amazing, isn't it?- Well, look.

0:27:29 > 0:27:32- It's not even two weeks yet. - Not even two weeks?

0:27:32 > 0:27:35- Well, enjoy the day, won't you? - Let's hope it's a success.

0:27:35 > 0:27:38- Looks good, doesn't it?- Well, it's starting to look all right.

0:27:38 > 0:27:41But I do think we need more items.

0:27:41 > 0:27:43Oh, I'll go and have a look.

0:27:43 > 0:27:46- Go and have a look.- I'll find you some stock.- Oh, thank you.

0:27:46 > 0:27:49- I think we got away with that. We got away with that?- We did.

0:27:49 > 0:27:52She's gone to look for more stuff.

0:27:52 > 0:27:53And she's not alone.

0:27:53 > 0:27:57The community are rallying round. Even more donations are coming in.

0:27:57 > 0:27:59These ash and oak frame clocks

0:27:59 > 0:28:01have been donated by someone on the street.

0:28:01 > 0:28:05I hope they make £30-£40 on my pop-up auction.

0:28:05 > 0:28:08'And neighbour Julia has outdone herself.'

0:28:08 > 0:28:09Oh, wow!

0:28:10 > 0:28:12Oh, that is fantastic.

0:28:12 > 0:28:13Can I auction this off?

0:28:13 > 0:28:16I'm going to stick this on the rostrum and I want to get

0:28:16 > 0:28:21- between 20 and £30.- Whatever you can get for it.- Thank you so much.

0:28:21 > 0:28:22I'm ever so excited now.

0:28:22 > 0:28:24So, that'll join the other lots on my pop-up auction,

0:28:24 > 0:28:26including these, our upcycling.

0:28:26 > 0:28:30- Tim, I like this.- I love it.

0:28:30 > 0:28:31That's worked out well.

0:28:31 > 0:28:34That's our little natural history cabinet

0:28:34 > 0:28:38- for the bedroom for the youngster. - It is.- And our oak stool.

0:28:38 > 0:28:42- With that lovely bleached top.- Top looks much better, doesn't it?- Yes.

0:28:42 > 0:28:44I got all three of these pieces from Michael

0:28:44 > 0:28:45and Irina has done a great job.

0:28:47 > 0:28:51Well, £10, £10, £15. Hopefully.

0:28:51 > 0:28:54So there you go, look, we've taken some furniture which was,

0:28:54 > 0:28:57let's face it, not worth a lot of money, nobody wanted.

0:28:57 > 0:28:59With a bit of TLC, we've rescued them.

0:28:59 > 0:29:02Well, the auction lot table is looking fairly healthy,

0:29:02 > 0:29:05but what we're really missing from this street auction is people!

0:29:05 > 0:29:07Bidders! Remember Tim?

0:29:07 > 0:29:09Talking to Dan from the local Mini club?

0:29:09 > 0:29:12Well, they've brought their wheels and they've given me an idea.

0:29:12 > 0:29:18We should make use of all of these Minis. I'm thinking about a convoy.

0:29:20 > 0:29:21We want to see you!

0:29:21 > 0:29:25Huge street auction and street party just around the corner.

0:29:25 > 0:29:27We want to see all of you there. Come and join us!

0:29:30 > 0:29:34Well, this estate's certainly not quiet with us around today.

0:29:34 > 0:29:36But I think this is doing the trick.

0:29:38 > 0:29:41We're like the Pied Pipers of Hucclecote.

0:29:43 > 0:29:45And just look how many people have turned up!

0:29:45 > 0:29:48It's time to get this party started.

0:29:48 > 0:29:50- ALL:- Five, four, three...

0:29:50 > 0:29:52Tim! Good luck, it's now or never.

0:29:52 > 0:29:54CHEERING Let's go.

0:29:56 > 0:29:58This street is perfect for a party,

0:29:58 > 0:30:01and everyone looks like they're in the mood for dancing.

0:30:05 > 0:30:09But best of all, the good folk of Hucclecote are spending their money.

0:30:09 > 0:30:12£10, sir. Thank you very much. That's great.

0:30:12 > 0:30:14I hope you enjoy that, but be safe.

0:30:14 > 0:30:17Ten seconds into the street party opening, so what a great start.

0:30:17 > 0:30:22Ten seconds, £10 down. We're on it today. I've got a good feeling.

0:30:22 > 0:30:26That is a great start but we've still a long way to go today.

0:30:26 > 0:30:28But look - John's been true to his word.

0:30:28 > 0:30:30He's back and he's brought us his old golf clubs.

0:30:30 > 0:30:32- That's for us, is it, John?- Yeah.

0:30:32 > 0:30:35- You're not giving up, though, are you?- No, I've got another set.

0:30:35 > 0:30:36You've got another set.

0:30:36 > 0:30:38It's all about teamwork, this.

0:30:38 > 0:30:42I'm getting new stock in and Tim's busy selling.

0:30:42 > 0:30:43- Has he paid yet?- No.

0:30:43 > 0:30:45Right, right. Stand back, stand back!

0:30:45 > 0:30:46That'll be £10 then, please, sir.

0:30:46 > 0:30:49- £10. Look, I got it. Thank you very much.- Thank you.

0:30:49 > 0:30:51That's really good of you. Enjoy that and enjoy the day.

0:30:51 > 0:30:54That's another tenner closer to the target,

0:30:54 > 0:30:55thanks to Betty's print of Gloucester.

0:30:56 > 0:30:59And here's another person I met on the rummage day - Sue.

0:30:59 > 0:31:03She's bought one of her own creations for us to sell.

0:31:03 > 0:31:05It puts a smile on your face.

0:31:05 > 0:31:07It really does put a smile on your face and that's what art should do.

0:31:07 > 0:31:10'Sue's painted this charming Cornish seaside in watercolour.'

0:31:10 > 0:31:12And I think...

0:31:12 > 0:31:14- I think we could get £10 for that. - Oh, that would be lovely.

0:31:14 > 0:31:18Perhaps a little bit more on... You know, if everyone's keen to bid.

0:31:18 > 0:31:20Look, I'm going to put that on the rostrum and thank you very much.

0:31:20 > 0:31:24I'm going to say, "It's painted by a resident in this street and she's here so don't let us down."

0:31:24 > 0:31:26OK? Thanks, Sue.

0:31:27 > 0:31:30Tim's met a volunteer that truly appreciates the work

0:31:30 > 0:31:33that Chris and Steve do - Sarah from the British Heart Foundation.

0:31:33 > 0:31:35They're just incredible. So the stories...

0:31:35 > 0:31:37You know, Steve's background,

0:31:37 > 0:31:40what happened to Steve and the heart transplant, but also the fact

0:31:40 > 0:31:43that as soon as that happened, they started fundraising for us.

0:31:43 > 0:31:45Without people like Chris and Steve,

0:31:45 > 0:31:48we just wouldn't be able to fundraise and fund the research

0:31:48 > 0:31:50that we desperately need to do, so they're amazing.

0:31:50 > 0:31:52We think they're amazing, too,

0:31:52 > 0:31:56and that's why we need to hit our target. Time for a tally-up.

0:31:56 > 0:32:00So, there's around £110 in there. That's brilliant. Right, thank you.

0:32:00 > 0:32:04Keep up the good work. We've done about £35, £40.

0:32:04 > 0:32:07- June?- It's a sale of £50 for the table and chairs.

0:32:07 > 0:32:10- You didn't, did you? Have you just bought them?- Yeah.

0:32:10 > 0:32:12£50? Shake my hand!

0:32:12 > 0:32:15- Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you so much.- Thank you.

0:32:15 > 0:32:1790. OK, there's £100 in there.

0:32:17 > 0:32:20Minus 30 for the float, that's 70.

0:32:20 > 0:32:26So far, we're just shy of our halfway mark for that £900 target.

0:32:26 > 0:32:30But not only that - Chris seems to have disappeared

0:32:30 > 0:32:32and there's no sign of Steve.

0:32:32 > 0:32:34I'm going to call their daughter, Claire.

0:32:34 > 0:32:36- Hi, Claire, it's Paul. We're outside.- 'Oh, hi!'

0:32:36 > 0:32:39Hello! I just wondered, how's it going in there?

0:32:39 > 0:32:41- How's Mum and Dad?- 'They're fine.'

0:32:41 > 0:32:43- They're fine?- 'Absolutely fine. No problem.'

0:32:43 > 0:32:46That's good news, cos it means the operation was really successful.

0:32:46 > 0:32:48'There is a couple of people out there

0:32:48 > 0:32:52'that nearly dropped you in it in terms of the surprise, so, er...'

0:32:52 > 0:32:54Thanks for that.

0:32:54 > 0:32:56- 'OK, thank you very much.' - Bye-bye.- 'Cheers. Bye'.

0:32:56 > 0:32:58Nearly got dropped in it!

0:33:00 > 0:33:05We are close to the edge on this one. Really close to the edge.

0:33:05 > 0:33:07We're not quite halfway there to get our total -

0:33:07 > 0:33:10that's a little bit worrying.

0:33:10 > 0:33:13And also, we may get rumbled!

0:33:14 > 0:33:15Oh, dear! Oh, dear!

0:33:15 > 0:33:18Well, we've no choice but to carry on.

0:33:18 > 0:33:22It's time to pull out all the stops. It's time to shake...

0:33:23 > 0:33:24..the bucket.

0:33:25 > 0:33:27Any loose coppers?

0:33:27 > 0:33:30Aw! Yay! Thank you so much.

0:33:32 > 0:33:35- I'm collecting all the copper. - Is it only copper?

0:33:35 > 0:33:39- No, silver or pound coins! - Oh, bless you. Thank you so much.

0:33:39 > 0:33:41And while I'm collecting the last few pennies,

0:33:41 > 0:33:45Tim's getting the last few pounds. He's just sold Paul's chair.

0:33:45 > 0:33:48- A fiver'd be nice.- What about... OK, six - meet in the middle.

0:33:48 > 0:33:50- Six?- Done.- Done? Brilliant!

0:33:50 > 0:33:52Right, who's got the money?

0:33:52 > 0:33:54It's time to count up the money from today's party and see

0:33:54 > 0:33:58how close we are to reaching that target.

0:33:58 > 0:34:00But to get a head start, we already sent two of our favourite

0:34:00 > 0:34:05items from the rummage day to Tom Keane's saleroom in Tetsworth.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07First up is Tim's favourite Corgi truck.

0:34:07 > 0:34:09We really liked the look of this

0:34:09 > 0:34:12but Tom's but an estimate of just £10 to £20.

0:34:12 > 0:34:14Hopefully, we'll get more than the estimate.

0:34:14 > 0:34:15Is that worth £20 for it?

0:34:15 > 0:34:18£10 for it? Ten bid. At ten, give me 12.

0:34:18 > 0:34:20At £10 so far. Give me 12.

0:34:20 > 0:34:2212 in, at 12. 15?

0:34:24 > 0:34:2620 bid. 22?

0:34:26 > 0:34:28At £22 and going, a cheap lot.

0:34:28 > 0:34:30£22, 888.

0:34:30 > 0:34:34Well, it's beaten the estimate but it's still a disappointing start.

0:34:34 > 0:34:37Let's hope Joy's Frister & Rossmann sewing machine will do better

0:34:37 > 0:34:40for us. Its estimate is £20 to £30.

0:34:40 > 0:34:42£20 for it? £20 for it?

0:34:42 > 0:34:4420 bid. At £20, bid 22.

0:34:44 > 0:34:46At £20, 22.

0:34:46 > 0:34:4822. 25? 25.

0:35:00 > 0:35:02I really hoped for more from our two lots today.

0:35:05 > 0:35:09So we've added £47 on today's total.

0:35:09 > 0:35:12Yes, of £546.

0:35:12 > 0:35:17- So I need to do £300 on the pop-up rostrum?- Yes, please.- OK.

0:35:17 > 0:35:20'It's a lot to ask but if ever I needed a good luck charm to help,

0:35:20 > 0:35:23'look who's made it out - just in the nick of time.'

0:35:23 > 0:35:27OK, let's start with lot number one. We have the easel, showing here.
