0:00:02 > 0:00:05How many of your neighbours do you really know?
0:00:05 > 0:00:08Many of us live in streets where we barely know who lives three
0:00:08 > 0:00:10or four doors down.
0:00:10 > 0:00:13We live such busy lives and we keep ourselves to ourselves.
0:00:13 > 0:00:17Well, today, in this street, all that's about to change.
0:00:17 > 0:00:20It's an ordinary street but it's also home to one
0:00:20 > 0:00:23extraordinarily kind woman named Sue.
0:00:23 > 0:00:26She's an amazing woman, I don't know how she does it.
0:00:26 > 0:00:28Like the rest of us,
0:00:28 > 0:00:31Sue has her own problems but she's always there for others.
0:00:31 > 0:00:34Maybe you could do a red cupcake?
0:00:34 > 0:00:38She's the loving daughter that I never had.
0:00:38 > 0:00:41And we think it's time her kindness is recognised.
0:00:41 > 0:00:45She's got the heart... You know, the most enormous heart in the world.
0:00:45 > 0:00:48So we're going to raise money for her by holding
0:00:48 > 0:00:52a street auction with items donated by her neighbours.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54Come on, Ruby, come on, Archie, keep up.
0:00:55 > 0:00:57Oh, thank you.
0:00:57 > 0:01:00Getting people to part with their treasures might not be easy.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02- Is she worth anything?- Let me in!
0:01:02 > 0:01:05And keeping it secret from Sue will be a big challenge.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08Sold for £15.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10But it will all be worth it when her idol,
0:01:10 > 0:01:14and that's not me, gives her the surprise of her life...
0:01:14 > 0:01:16- Hi, Sue, how are you? You mysterious girl, you.- Waaah!
0:01:21 > 0:01:24Today we're in Abergavenny, known as the Gateway to Wales.
0:01:24 > 0:01:29It's a medieval market town that's home to 10,000 people.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31We think one of them is very special.
0:01:34 > 0:01:38Sue Jones runs a group called Crafty Women which aims to combat
0:01:38 > 0:01:39loneliness and isolation.
0:01:41 > 0:01:44They're issues that affect millions of people at one time or another
0:01:44 > 0:01:47as Sue knows all too well.
0:01:47 > 0:01:51I'd fallen on desperate times in life myself.
0:01:51 > 0:01:55Not having a great deal of support around.
0:01:56 > 0:01:58Sue's mum knows her life has been tough.
0:02:00 > 0:02:03I think we've all been through it. My parents were split.
0:02:03 > 0:02:07My mum and dad split. My sister was the same.
0:02:07 > 0:02:11So we've had a lot of family things that we've had to cope with.
0:02:11 > 0:02:15After a painful few years, Sue found her refuge in Crafty Women, a group
0:02:15 > 0:02:20that brings local women together and teaches them handcraft skills.
0:02:20 > 0:02:24Finding that support network for myself, it's really good because...
0:02:24 > 0:02:28if it's helped me, then it's going to benefit a lot of other people.
0:02:28 > 0:02:32So it's really nice to be in a group of like-minded people.
0:02:32 > 0:02:36Sue became increasingly involved with the group and three years ago
0:02:36 > 0:02:38she took over the running of it and now it
0:02:38 > 0:02:41has gone from strength to strength.
0:02:41 > 0:02:44There aren't many people out there who are prepared to use
0:02:44 > 0:02:48so much of their time and who are juggling as many things as Sue is
0:02:48 > 0:02:51juggling to support other members of the community.
0:02:51 > 0:02:53That's a person that's one in one million.
0:02:53 > 0:02:55Of course I'm proud of her.
0:02:55 > 0:02:57Who wouldn't be?
0:02:57 > 0:03:03Sue does so much for others that they and we think it's payback time.
0:03:03 > 0:03:08We want to send her on a mini break for her great work and buy her
0:03:08 > 0:03:11a much-needed new snazzy laptop.
0:03:11 > 0:03:15600 quid should do it. Now we just have to raise it.
0:03:15 > 0:03:18So we're knocking on everybody's door asking if they've
0:03:18 > 0:03:21any unwanted or unloved items that
0:03:21 > 0:03:25we can sell in our pop-up auction right here on this green in a month.
0:03:25 > 0:03:27But the big challenge is we've got to keep this
0:03:27 > 0:03:30a secret from Sue until after the big day.
0:03:32 > 0:03:35It's a tough task but luckily I'm not facing it alone.
0:03:35 > 0:03:38I've called in young auctioneer Tim Weeks.
0:03:40 > 0:03:42- Morning, Tim.- Morning, Paul.
0:03:42 > 0:03:45Now we're going to raid all of these houses here and in the
0:03:45 > 0:03:46adjacent streets.
0:03:46 > 0:03:49Not just the houses, the garages, the cellars, the attics, gardens,
0:03:49 > 0:03:52because anything we can get our hands on,
0:03:52 > 0:03:54- we'll stick in that van and we can sell it at the auction.- Perfect.
0:03:54 > 0:03:57- Which is going to happen right here. - Right here?- Look at that backdrop.
0:03:57 > 0:04:01- It doesn't get better than that, does it?- It's beautiful, I love it.
0:04:01 > 0:04:04- We need a pile of kit as high as that.- OK, you're on. Let's go.
0:04:04 > 0:04:07But which of us will come back with the most donations?
0:04:07 > 0:04:10Come on, Abergavenny, what have you got for us?
0:04:17 > 0:04:21Well, it's Sunday morning, maybe they are at church.
0:04:21 > 0:04:23Maybe they're out with the kids.
0:04:25 > 0:04:27There's someone over there.
0:04:27 > 0:04:28'OK, here's someone who is at home.
0:04:28 > 0:04:31'It's a local resident called Howard.
0:04:31 > 0:04:34'What has he got stashed at the back of the garage?'
0:04:34 > 0:04:35Oh! Fantastic.
0:04:35 > 0:04:38- Are those golf clubs? - Yes.- You're joking?!
0:04:38 > 0:04:40Some of these haven't been used.
0:04:40 > 0:04:43There's a pair of shoes with them as well.
0:04:43 > 0:04:46'A full set of new golf clubs could set you back hundreds,
0:04:46 > 0:04:47'and, with the shoes thrown in,
0:04:47 > 0:04:50'I reckon this lot could easily make £30-£40.'
0:04:50 > 0:04:54- Look at those. Were they yours?- No.
0:04:54 > 0:04:58- My son's.- Your son's. And he doesn't want to play golf any more?- No.
0:04:58 > 0:05:00- I've never played in my life. - Neither have I.
0:05:00 > 0:05:02It's a waste of a good walk.
0:05:02 > 0:05:04'But that's not all Howard has got for me.
0:05:04 > 0:05:07'There's a 1970s picnic set, practical and kitsch,
0:05:07 > 0:05:11'and always popular despite the great British weather.'
0:05:11 > 0:05:16It's all ready to go. It's all so clean. Lovely.
0:05:16 > 0:05:20- I mean, this is just amazing. Cuddly toy.- No, this is a doorstop.
0:05:20 > 0:05:24- Lift it.- Oh, yes, it's weighted.
0:05:24 > 0:05:28- Yes.- Look at that. Wa-wa-wa-wa-wa.
0:05:28 > 0:05:32'Howard is also letting me take this
0:05:32 > 0:05:34'treasure trove which includes goblets and a rose bowl.
0:05:34 > 0:05:36'They're silver-plated so they've
0:05:36 > 0:05:40'no date mark but they're classic 20th-century designs and if
0:05:40 > 0:05:45'each piece makes just £2, the whole lot could bring in £40.'
0:05:45 > 0:05:47- Thank you very much. Give us a hug. Come here.- I will.
0:05:47 > 0:05:50You've had a really good sort out.
0:05:50 > 0:05:52I'm really, really pleased.
0:05:52 > 0:05:53What a great couple.
0:05:53 > 0:05:56I hope they turn up on the day because this is what it's all about.
0:05:56 > 0:05:59Now I'm feeling really good.
0:05:59 > 0:06:03Motivated too, which is how it should be when you're trying to
0:06:03 > 0:06:05raise cash for a good cause.
0:06:05 > 0:06:09Meanwhile, auctioneer and toy and sports memorabilia expert Tim
0:06:09 > 0:06:11is also well up for the challenge
0:06:11 > 0:06:14and getting results over at Monica's.
0:06:14 > 0:06:17Whatever I don't want, you can have.
0:06:17 > 0:06:19- So is this up for grabs?- Yes.
0:06:19 > 0:06:23Wonderful. What a star you are. Thank you so much.
0:06:23 > 0:06:27'This Victorian style hatstand is a great example of bentwood,
0:06:27 > 0:06:31'a production technique invented in Austria in the 19th century.'
0:06:31 > 0:06:34This is a nice piece. It's not particularly old,
0:06:34 > 0:06:38it's not particularly valuable, but it's solid, it's in nice shape.
0:06:38 > 0:06:43Edward hat stands were a fixture in Victorian and Edwardian hallways,
0:06:43 > 0:06:48the perfect place for a gentleman to hang his hat, coat and umbrella.
0:06:48 > 0:06:53This modern example could easily make anything between £10 and £20.
0:06:53 > 0:06:54Right, we may be off to a flyer
0:06:54 > 0:06:58but keeping up the pace is proving difficult.
0:06:58 > 0:07:01Not today, thank you. I'm watching the football.
0:07:01 > 0:07:03Keep moving, keep moving, keep the pace up.
0:07:03 > 0:07:06- Let me in!- That's a shame.
0:07:08 > 0:07:10I was feeling positive, then.
0:07:10 > 0:07:15- Any chance I could have a look? What do you think?- Not really.- No?
0:07:15 > 0:07:16Good morning.
0:07:16 > 0:07:20We're asking everybody in the neighbourhood if they can
0:07:20 > 0:07:24donate anything for our pop-up auction which is happening on
0:07:24 > 0:07:27your green in a month's time.
0:07:27 > 0:07:31- So we're looking for anything like, well...- Is she worth anything?
0:07:31 > 0:07:33Do you know what? The older you get,
0:07:33 > 0:07:38- the more you are worth. You're priceless.- Thank you.
0:07:38 > 0:07:41'This lovely couple are Adrian and Joyce.
0:07:41 > 0:07:45'They were on their way out for the day, but I've persuaded them to
0:07:45 > 0:07:46'invite me in for a rummage.'
0:07:48 > 0:07:50I love sheds. Absolutely love sheds.
0:07:51 > 0:07:53That is full of ornaments.
0:07:55 > 0:07:58Aw, it's a nodding dog!
0:07:58 > 0:08:01- My sister-in-law bought me that years ago.- Aw!
0:08:03 > 0:08:06'Nodding dogs were popular in the 1970s, often found in the
0:08:06 > 0:08:09'back windows of cars, but what else have they got here?'
0:08:09 > 0:08:13- Crystal, that is.- Yeah, that's cut glass.- 18th century.
0:08:13 > 0:08:14- No, it's not 18th.- It is.
0:08:14 > 0:08:17- What do you know about it? - THEY LAUGH
0:08:17 > 0:08:19There's a miner's lamp!
0:08:19 > 0:08:23'Miner safety lamps were invented by Sir Humphry Davy,
0:08:23 > 0:08:25'hence their alternative name - Davy lamps.
0:08:25 > 0:08:27'This one could make £10.'
0:08:30 > 0:08:33While I'm sorting through Adrian and Joyce's boxes,
0:08:33 > 0:08:37Tim is knocking on more doors and finally his efforts are paying off.
0:08:37 > 0:08:39This 1980s coffee table has a glass top
0:08:39 > 0:08:42with a mosaic paint effect border.
0:08:42 > 0:08:45The Roman theme has been carried through to its wrought iron legs,
0:08:45 > 0:08:49which have a classical lion head detail.
0:08:49 > 0:08:52It would look great in a conservatory and I think
0:08:52 > 0:08:54someone might pay £20 for it.
0:08:54 > 0:08:57Meanwhile, I'm being beckoned from above.
0:08:57 > 0:09:01- Hello, I've got something to show you.- Oh!- Some posters.
0:09:01 > 0:09:04'Posters, eh? Sounds promising.'
0:09:04 > 0:09:07- They're my husbands. - Sit down and let's have a look.
0:09:07 > 0:09:08They're all folded up.
0:09:08 > 0:09:12- These are yours?- Yes. They fold out like big film posters.
0:09:12 > 0:09:15'Film posters are highly collectable.
0:09:15 > 0:09:19'Rare ones can make tens of thousands so what have they got here?'
0:09:19 > 0:09:22"The Return Of The Seven". Mary has also picked out some
0:09:22 > 0:09:25ornaments to donate, but do you know what?
0:09:25 > 0:09:28I can't take my eyes off Jonty's poster collection.
0:09:28 > 0:09:30- Can we have one? - Yes, I'll give you one.
0:09:30 > 0:09:32Which one can we have?
0:09:32 > 0:09:36'The poster from the silent film Metropolis once made over
0:09:36 > 0:09:41'£140,000 at auction so this donation could really help our cause.'
0:09:41 > 0:09:46- It's sci-fi posters and horror posters that sell. - That sell, yeah.
0:09:46 > 0:09:48Turn it round the other way.
0:09:48 > 0:09:50So this is called "The Oblong Box".
0:09:50 > 0:09:54Yeah. Vincent Price and Christopher Lee. "The Living Dead", that's an
0:09:54 > 0:09:57- early thing.- Brilliant. Can we have that?- Of course you can.
0:09:57 > 0:10:00- I'm ever so pleased. - That's OK. It's a pleasure.
0:10:00 > 0:10:03I'm going to put this into a proper auction.
0:10:03 > 0:10:05Right, oh, wonderful.
0:10:08 > 0:10:12So some great results up to now but there's still a long way to go.
0:10:14 > 0:10:16Good morning. Hello. Oh, hello!
0:10:16 > 0:10:19HE LAUGHS
0:10:21 > 0:10:25I tell you what - you've got to stop eating those pies!
0:10:25 > 0:10:27Can we come in?
0:10:27 > 0:10:28Of course you can.
0:10:28 > 0:10:31'Barbara's got enough stuff in her house to open a shop.
0:10:31 > 0:10:34'Fingers crossed there's something here for me.
0:10:34 > 0:10:37'This swan looks like it could date back to the '50s.'
0:10:37 > 0:10:41- How long have you had that then? - I've had it a couple of years.
0:10:41 > 0:10:45- And you're happy to donate that? - Yes. If it's clean, it will be lovely.
0:10:45 > 0:10:49That will look nice on the windowsill in anybody's front room.
0:10:49 > 0:10:53'It needs some TLC but it's brass, and mix of copper and zinc, which
0:10:53 > 0:10:55'polishes up beautifully.
0:10:55 > 0:11:01'It could add £20-£30 towards our target for today's unsuspecting local hero.'
0:11:01 > 0:11:04That's lovely. Well done, Karen.
0:11:04 > 0:11:10Sue, remember, runs a support group for women with personal and emotional problems.
0:11:11 > 0:11:16It provides advice, companionship and a chance to learn new skills.
0:11:16 > 0:11:22Pam came here after receiving a life-changing cancer diagnosis.
0:11:22 > 0:11:27I needed the support of other women and when I came here that's what I got.
0:11:27 > 0:11:30We can all recognise in each other that you've been lost
0:11:30 > 0:11:33at some point and you've been gathered in now.
0:11:33 > 0:11:37Without her, we wouldn't have a group, I don't think.
0:11:37 > 0:11:39She's marvellous.
0:11:39 > 0:11:40She's the ace, really.
0:11:43 > 0:11:48She's now using the knowledge of what she went through and
0:11:48 > 0:11:50looking into other people's eyes and saying,
0:11:50 > 0:11:55"I can see what happened to me has happened to you and I know
0:11:55 > 0:11:58"how to handle it because I've been there.
0:11:58 > 0:12:00"I can see that you've got a red face -
0:12:00 > 0:12:02"you've been slapped by somebody.
0:12:02 > 0:12:05"I can see the emotional scars in the back of your eyes when you
0:12:05 > 0:12:08"come in and say, 'No, there's nothing wrong, I'm fine.'"
0:12:08 > 0:12:13But she can see and her past has brought this into her work.
0:12:13 > 0:12:17The relationships that she builds and the security that she
0:12:17 > 0:12:20develops with these ladies is just phenomenal.
0:12:20 > 0:12:23There you go. Pick a pincushion
0:12:23 > 0:12:26and then you can pin your template to your bag.
0:12:26 > 0:12:30Such a rewarding thing to do, to work with people and share
0:12:30 > 0:12:34your skills, share your stories. So it's really, really nice.
0:12:37 > 0:12:41No wonder so many of Sue's friends and neighbours are keen to help.
0:12:41 > 0:12:45Local businesses are getting in on the act too.
0:12:45 > 0:12:48- Could you donate something?- Yes.
0:12:48 > 0:12:52- How much worth of ice cream? - 50?- 50 quid?- Yes.- Brilliant.
0:12:52 > 0:12:55- Thank you very much. Let me have your card.- There you go.
0:12:55 > 0:12:57- No problem.- I look forward to it. 50 quid's worth of ice cream.
0:12:57 > 0:12:59Free ice cream! That's a winner.
0:13:01 > 0:13:04Can't beat the sweet taste of success.
0:13:04 > 0:13:06I just hope Tim can share it.
0:13:06 > 0:13:08Well, we've got some stuff right here.
0:13:08 > 0:13:12- You got some stuff ready. Fantastic.- Yes.- Well done.
0:13:12 > 0:13:14Something's just caught his eye.
0:13:14 > 0:13:18What I like here is this teapot.
0:13:18 > 0:13:22Teapots are popular items to collect whatever their shapes and sizes.
0:13:22 > 0:13:25This one is pretty standard but we could get
0:13:25 > 0:13:28a few pounds for it and every bit helps.
0:13:28 > 0:13:32This is lovely, lovely things for us to take. Thank you so much.
0:13:32 > 0:13:36- It's very kind of you. - You're welcome.- Guys, are you going to be there on the day?- Yes.
0:13:36 > 0:13:38- Yeah? Put it there.- Yay!- And you.
0:13:38 > 0:13:40Well done. I'll see you on the day.
0:13:40 > 0:13:44We don't turn down any help, no matter how small.
0:13:44 > 0:13:46Come on, Ruby. Come on, Archie. Keep up.
0:13:46 > 0:13:51- I've been loading that van all morning.- Is that for me? Thank you very much.
0:13:54 > 0:13:55Oh, thank you.
0:13:57 > 0:14:01'While Tim and the kids are loading the van I'm off to meet Sue's
0:14:01 > 0:14:04'stepdad, Glen, to see if he has any gems.'
0:14:06 > 0:14:09This is all about Sue. We've got to keep this a secret.
0:14:12 > 0:14:16And we've got to get a lot of things to fill that van so we can sell them.
0:14:16 > 0:14:19Is there anything you can give us towards this cause?
0:14:19 > 0:14:23- Nothing you don't want? - Fish tank?
0:14:23 > 0:14:24THEY LAUGH

0:15:04 > 0:15:06Especially on subjects like aviation.
0:15:06 > 0:15:09These should fetch around £2 each.
0:15:09 > 0:15:12These are really, really good subjects for collectors,
0:15:12 > 0:15:14so, on the day, this is going to make good money
0:15:14 > 0:15:15and there's a lot of books here.

0:15:44 > 0:15:47That's nice, isn't it? A little bit of studio pottery.

0:15:54 > 0:15:56Love it, love it, love it. Thank you.
0:15:56 > 0:15:58'Olive wood has a beautiful grain and
0:15:58 > 0:16:02'so makes great decorative pieces. £20 for this one, I reckon.'
0:16:02 > 0:16:06So what we have here is a flavour of the Mediterranean in South Wales.

0:16:18 > 0:16:19That's a sweet little thing.
0:16:19 > 0:16:22Collectable miniatures are often limited editions, making them
0:16:22 > 0:16:27more valuable. Someone will give us a few pounds for this one, I'm sure.
0:16:28 > 0:16:31- My wife is into owls, but she's never liked this one.- OK.
0:16:31 > 0:16:33Isn't that nice?
0:16:33 > 0:16:38That's very sweet. It's not going to be a hugely valuable item, this.
0:16:38 > 0:16:41We can see there's a barcode at the bottom so it's pretty modern.
0:16:41 > 0:16:43There's no maker or markers.
0:16:43 > 0:16:47So we'll pop that on our bric-a-brac stall and it's got to turn
0:16:47 > 0:16:49some heads just like this guy would have
0:16:49 > 0:16:51and hopefully we can get some money.
0:16:52 > 0:16:56What can you not do? Don't say anything.

0:17:39 > 0:17:42- You've got it out already. - Yeah, we've got a goal for you and a little bike.
0:17:42 > 0:17:43Thank you so much.
0:17:43 > 0:17:45'But the surprises don't end there.'
0:17:47 > 0:17:52- I did a ceramics degree when I was younger, but I'm an art teacher now. But...- This is your work?
0:17:52 > 0:17:57- Yeah, that's three I've done. This stuff here...- Really nice. You're very... Oh, let me have a look.
0:17:57 > 0:17:59You're very skilful.
0:17:59 > 0:18:02'Studio ceramics is the term for unique items of pottery.
0:18:03 > 0:18:07'Works by famous names like Bernard Leach can potentially fetch thousands.
0:18:08 > 0:18:12- You're welcome to...- Can we take those?- You can take those.- Have you heard of the Crafty Women's Group?
0:18:12 > 0:18:16- I have heard of them.- You have. It's run by a lady called Sue Jones,
0:18:16 > 0:18:20who went there really to sort of pick herself up.
0:18:20 > 0:18:22It's like a self-help group and you get taught craft skills and
0:18:22 > 0:18:24- you make things and you can sell things.- Great.
0:18:24 > 0:18:28All the proceeds of this pop-up auction and bric-a-brac sale
0:18:28 > 0:18:31are going to go towards a surprise gift to her.
0:18:31 > 0:18:33- She doesn't know it till after the auction.- Lovely.

0:18:41 > 0:18:45There you are. Look at this. Back of the net. Ha-hey!
0:18:45 > 0:18:48And do you know what? This could be a double celebration.
0:18:48 > 0:18:52I've an idea for those goalposts that could raise even more cash.
0:18:52 > 0:18:54And I'll tell you about that later.
0:18:55 > 0:18:58Right, it's time to empty the van and line up everything
0:18:58 > 0:19:01Tim and I have collected.
0:19:01 > 0:19:04If we spot anything of great value we can send it to the
0:19:04 > 0:19:06saleroom auction.
0:19:06 > 0:19:08Selling then at £30.
0:19:08 > 0:19:12But which of us has triumphed in the rummage?
0:19:12 > 0:19:15- Who's got the longest line? - Yeah, all right, all right.
0:19:15 > 0:19:18I don't know. You might have quality. I haven't had a look yet.
0:19:18 > 0:19:22The goalposts, great. Good fun and we'll have fun on the day. Kid's bike. I like that.

0:19:30 > 0:19:32- That is Tiger Woods. - Yeah, I like it.
0:19:32 > 0:19:35There are three golf courses in Abergavenny so these will fly.
0:19:35 > 0:19:38And it's not the only item with local appeal.
0:19:38 > 0:19:43I bet this Welsh sheepdog doorstop will find a new home.
0:19:43 > 0:19:46Studio ceramics, look. That's nice.
0:19:46 > 0:19:49'Well, my line may be the longest but I'm not complacent
0:19:49 > 0:19:53'cos I reckon Tim's picked up some real winners here today.'
0:19:53 > 0:19:57There's things we can sell, I think. I think this will find a buyer.
0:19:57 > 0:20:00I like the hatstand. Do you know what? It's come in useful.
0:20:00 > 0:20:04It's not raining right now, is it? I don't like that in brown.
0:20:04 > 0:20:07I'll tell you what. If we repaint that a bright red,
0:20:07 > 0:20:10like post-box red, we can upcycle that.
0:20:10 > 0:20:11It'll be funky.
0:20:11 > 0:20:16But have we found anything to send to the saleroom auction?
0:20:16 > 0:20:20I think one of my finds is a no-brainer.
0:20:20 > 0:20:21'The vintage film poster.'
0:20:23 > 0:20:27- We'll put that into auction.- Yes. - OK. That'll go online.
0:20:27 > 0:20:31We'll get the film buffs bidding on that. Anything else?
0:20:31 > 0:20:34Well, while we were unpacking, I spotted this bit
0:20:34 > 0:20:39of 1966 England World Cup memorabilia.
0:20:39 > 0:20:43- I thought maybe that should go to auction.- I love that.
0:20:43 > 0:20:48- That little World Cup Watney's glass.- Yeah. World Cup Willie. - 30 quid?- Easy.
0:20:48 > 0:20:50Yeah, so that can go to auction.
0:20:50 > 0:20:53So, we've got two items to send to the saleroom.
0:20:53 > 0:20:56Everything else will be split between the pop-up auction and
0:20:56 > 0:20:59our bric-a-brac stalls. Here's hoping for a great result.
0:20:59 > 0:21:02- Well done.- Put it there. Well done, boss.
0:21:07 > 0:21:09The day of our street auction has arrived
0:21:09 > 0:21:13but there's still loads to do.
0:21:13 > 0:21:15Tables need to go up,
0:21:15 > 0:21:17bunting has to be hung,
0:21:17 > 0:21:20and all this bric-a-brac unloaded.
0:21:20 > 0:21:23Now, we have to turn all of this into money.
0:21:23 > 0:21:25We've got to ask everybody to dig deep,
0:21:25 > 0:21:27and this whole community to pull together.
0:21:28 > 0:21:30We're still getting last-minute donations,
0:21:30 > 0:21:32like this set of dining chairs.
0:21:32 > 0:21:36They've got that great '70s look of a name like Ercol or Gplan that is
0:21:36 > 0:21:38bang on trend.
0:21:38 > 0:21:41Sue's friends and neighbours have turned out in force
0:21:41 > 0:21:43to help us reach our target.
0:21:43 > 0:21:47Her mum, Maureen, has volunteered for the toy stall.
0:21:47 > 0:21:49Taking charge of bric-a-brac are Sam and Rhian.
0:21:50 > 0:21:53And Nathan's running cakes and refreshments.
0:21:54 > 0:21:56Team Sash, ready to go.
0:21:56 > 0:21:58Thank you so much for turning up today,
0:21:58 > 0:22:00because, without all of you,
0:22:00 > 0:22:02this would not work.
0:22:02 > 0:22:05We need to raise £600 here today.
0:22:05 > 0:22:07It's a jolly big ask,
0:22:07 > 0:22:12when you look on the lawn and you see what we've got to sell, OK?!
0:22:12 > 0:22:13LAUGHTER
0:22:13 > 0:22:15But obviously we're going to be relying on teas, coffees,
0:22:15 > 0:22:17cakes, refreshments...
0:22:17 > 0:22:18People will want to buy into this,
0:22:18 > 0:22:22because it's for someone very special here in your community, OK?
0:22:22 > 0:22:23They want to be part of this.
0:22:24 > 0:22:25In true Sue style,
0:22:25 > 0:22:28she's turned up with her group to help.
0:22:28 > 0:22:32She thinks the money we're raising is for general good causes,
0:22:32 > 0:22:35she has no idea it's all for her.
0:22:35 > 0:22:37I think I like that.
0:22:37 > 0:22:39It's so inspiring to see how the community
0:22:39 > 0:22:42has looked for great items to donate.
0:22:43 > 0:22:45The '70s dining chairs are a set,
0:22:45 > 0:22:47complete with two carvers... The ones with arms.
0:22:47 > 0:22:49..which should tempt the buyers.
0:22:50 > 0:22:51Presentation's key, really,
0:22:51 > 0:22:54we've got to make sure that people look at these chairs and go,
0:22:54 > 0:22:56"Actually, you know, it's a half decent set of six."
0:22:56 > 0:22:58It's not four, you know, crammed together.
0:22:58 > 0:23:00Give them some space...
0:23:00 > 0:23:03And then you kind of move down here and then there's another two,
0:23:03 > 0:23:04so it is a set of six.
0:23:04 > 0:23:06And remember Tim's dull hat stand?
0:23:06 > 0:23:07It was in good nick,
0:23:07 > 0:23:10so we painted it with pillar box red gloss paint.
0:23:10 > 0:23:12Just look at it now.
0:23:12 > 0:23:14Look at how vibrant it is, now.
0:23:14 > 0:23:15Really exciting,
0:23:15 > 0:23:18and in my opinion you'd find that in a very fashionable high-street shop,
0:23:18 > 0:23:20retailing for about £40, £50.
0:23:20 > 0:23:21It's going to the street auction today.
0:23:21 > 0:23:24Now, I hope that we can make somewhere towards that figure.
0:23:24 > 0:23:27'A whole new look for just a couple of pounds.
0:23:27 > 0:23:31'Now, I want to speak to Sue's friends without her knowing.
0:23:31 > 0:23:33'Time to send in secret agent Tim.'
0:23:34 > 0:23:37Now, I need to put this up. You're the closest.
0:23:37 > 0:23:39Could you give me a hand putting it up by the gazebo, for me?
0:23:39 > 0:23:41- Yeah, sure.- Is that OK? - LAUGHTER
0:23:41 > 0:23:44- Yeah, that's fine, that's fine. - You follow me. I'm Tim. You're Sue?
0:23:44 > 0:23:47- Sue, yeah.- Nice to meet you, Sue. - Nice to meet you.- We're going to...
0:23:47 > 0:23:49I'm going to take you for a long walk, actually, I'm afraid.
0:23:49 > 0:23:52Mission accomplished. Now I can move in.
0:23:53 > 0:23:56It's looking good, girls, it's looking good.
0:23:56 > 0:24:01- Andrea... Can't see your badge? - Gloria.- Gloria. Pam. Queenie.
0:24:01 > 0:24:04- Thank you for helping us out.- That's very... You're very welcome.- OK.
0:24:04 > 0:24:09- Has it been hard keeping this a secret?- Yes.- Yes.- Yeah?- Very.
0:24:09 > 0:24:10What's Sue been saying?
0:24:11 > 0:24:12What's she been saying?
0:24:12 > 0:24:13Nothing, because she's...
0:24:13 > 0:24:18She's absolutely in the dark. She has no idea whatsoever.
0:24:18 > 0:24:20So, I'm seeing a lot of Crafty Women T-shirts,
0:24:20 > 0:24:23there's a lot of Crafty Women here. What is Crafty Women?
0:24:23 > 0:24:26- We meet up every week and just craft and have fun and have a laugh.- Yeah.
0:24:26 > 0:24:28- And celebrate being a woman! - Yeah, no, absolutely. Good for you.
0:24:28 > 0:24:29Oh, I love it.
0:24:29 > 0:24:32Tell me a bit about Sue. What sort of person is she?
0:24:32 > 0:24:37She doesn't realise how much support she gives everybody else,
0:24:37 > 0:24:40and she doesn't realise what she means to us.
0:24:40 > 0:24:42And I think this, hopefully,
0:24:42 > 0:24:46will go some way towards showing what an amazingly special person
0:24:46 > 0:24:48she really is.
0:24:48 > 0:24:50There we go. Is it...
0:24:50 > 0:24:51Are we going to get it to stretch?
0:24:51 > 0:24:53If not, I can always tie it.
0:24:53 > 0:24:55Luckily, you guys made us two.
0:24:55 > 0:24:57Big question.
0:24:57 > 0:24:58She's still up there, just.
0:24:58 > 0:25:02How will she react to this? At the end of the day?
0:25:02 > 0:25:03- Tears?- Oh, definitely. Yeah.
0:25:05 > 0:25:08She will be stunned for all of about 30 seconds,
0:25:08 > 0:25:11- and then it'll be, "Oh, my God!"- Yeah.- Aww...
0:25:11 > 0:25:13And then, "You, you didn't tell me you were in it!"
0:25:13 > 0:25:15Oh, well, that's quite nice, isn't it?
0:25:15 > 0:25:18'Now, I've heard something about Sue that I want to check out.
0:25:18 > 0:25:21'If anyone knows the answer, it's this lot.'
0:25:22 > 0:25:24Hey, look, there's something I've got to ask you
0:25:24 > 0:25:25before Sue comes back, OK?,
0:25:25 > 0:25:26I'm keeping my eye on her,
0:25:26 > 0:25:29she's still out there putting bunting up with Tim.
0:25:30 > 0:25:32Tell me about Peter Andre.
0:25:32 > 0:25:34- Oh... - LAUGHTER
0:25:34 > 0:25:36Yeah, she absolutely adores Peter Andre.
0:25:36 > 0:25:38She was quite ill at the beginning of the year,
0:25:38 > 0:25:41and she'd been given tickets to see him in concert for Christmas
0:25:41 > 0:25:44in Cardiff, but, even though she was so ill,
0:25:44 > 0:25:48she still managed to drag herself up and, oh, off she went,
0:25:48 > 0:25:50and she had... Oh, she just had a great time.
0:25:50 > 0:25:54She's got CDs, posters, and calendars of him.
0:25:54 > 0:25:56I think he genuinely is a really nice guy.
0:25:56 > 0:25:59Good luck! I'll see you at the end of the day. I'll come check...
0:25:59 > 0:26:01'Well, that's given me an idea.
0:26:01 > 0:26:02'And I'm going to work on it.'
0:26:05 > 0:26:09As for the earlier idea about making extra money from the goalposts,
0:26:09 > 0:26:13I'll let Tim do the hard work while I go off to meet a familiar face.
0:26:16 > 0:26:18I remember, at the rummaging day,
0:26:18 > 0:26:20I saw this chap driving down the street,
0:26:20 > 0:26:22and started chasing after him, saying "Help!"
0:26:22 > 0:26:24"Can you help? Can you help?"
0:26:24 > 0:26:26And here he is! Good to see you.
0:26:26 > 0:26:29- Hi, Paul, how you doing?- Thank you so much for not letting us down.
0:26:29 > 0:26:31- That's no problem at all. - You're a real champion.
0:26:31 > 0:26:36Now, we're having a bit of a penalty shootout competition, here.
0:26:36 > 0:26:39Tim, who's been helping me out through this whole campaign,
0:26:39 > 0:26:40is going in goal,
0:26:40 > 0:26:42and everyone's got to try and score a goal against him,
0:26:42 > 0:26:44get the ball in the back of the net,
0:26:44 > 0:26:46and if they do that, they get an ice cream.
0:26:46 > 0:26:47But they've got to pay a pound to do it.
0:26:47 > 0:26:49So thank you, so much.
0:26:50 > 0:26:53Everyone's working flat out to get the stalls ready.
0:26:54 > 0:26:56Ten minutes before we cut the ribbon and open the party officially.
