0:06:37 > 0:06:39on the back, neck or feet.
0:06:41 > 0:06:45This one's not an antique, but it'll make us £5 or so.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51I found these. If they're any good.

0:07:29 > 0:07:30It might be a lovely little upcycle job.
0:07:30 > 0:07:33We might rub that down and give it a lick of paint.
0:07:33 > 0:07:35One lot for me to put under the hammer,
0:07:35 > 0:07:37and a lovely little upcycling project.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59- No, that's brilliant.- I have also got some men's weights
0:07:59 > 0:08:01- down in the workshop. - Perfect. Thank you very, very much.
0:08:01 > 0:08:03It is a good little lot of bric-a-brac
0:08:03 > 0:08:05that'll make us £10 or £15,
0:08:05 > 0:08:07and it puts Izzie back in the running.
0:08:07 > 0:08:09If everyone plays nicely, that is.
0:08:09 > 0:08:11Danny, what are you doing here?
0:08:11 > 0:08:14Hello. We're just...
0:08:14 > 0:08:16Somebody said that you've got a lot of stuff
0:08:16 > 0:08:17to take out from here, so...
0:08:17 > 0:08:19But, Danny, this is my house,
0:08:19 > 0:08:21so you can't go stealing any of these things.
0:08:21 > 0:08:23- Are you sure?- Certainly.
0:08:23 > 0:08:25I reckon between us we'll manage...

0:08:27 > 0:08:30- You'll be all right?- Yes. - OK, I'll...- Buzz off, Danny.
0:08:30 > 0:08:33Right, I've been told. Au revoir.

0:08:35 > 0:08:36Thank you.
0:08:39 > 0:08:41Doing my weights for the day.
0:08:41 > 0:08:44True to her word, Cherry does have weights to donate...
0:08:44 > 0:08:47That's fine, I can put some more on. Pile me up.
0:08:47 > 0:08:50..and there was more than a couple of dusty dumbbells.
0:08:50 > 0:08:53They'll give our fundraising some muscle.
0:08:53 > 0:08:54Good job done.
0:08:55 > 0:08:57Cherry has been so generous.
0:08:57 > 0:08:59She's given us her entire weights collection,
0:08:59 > 0:09:01and there are loads of them.
0:09:01 > 0:09:05They must have cost her an absolute fortune.
0:09:05 > 0:09:08Yep, pumping this much iron doesn't come cheap.
0:09:08 > 0:09:13Brand-new dumbbells go for anything from £10 to £40.
0:09:13 > 0:09:16But what's really taken my fancy is this artist's easel.
0:09:16 > 0:09:19It's got a little bit of age to it. I mean, I would have thought it
0:09:19 > 0:09:21sort of within the last half of the century.
0:09:21 > 0:09:23It's got the paint on it, so it's had some use.
0:09:23 > 0:09:26What's nice as well is it's still all intact.
0:09:26 > 0:09:28Functional and decorative, this ticks all the boxes,
0:09:28 > 0:09:31and it's not just artists that'll be drawn to it.
0:09:31 > 0:09:34These days, plenty of people are using easels
0:09:34 > 0:09:36to display paintings at home.
0:09:36 > 0:09:38This could be for the saleroom.
0:09:38 > 0:09:40Oh, it's nice and cool in here.
0:09:40 > 0:09:42And it looks like Danny's in luck too.
0:09:42 > 0:09:45He's popped in on Vinette's friend, Joan.
0:09:45 > 0:09:48- Is that all right? - Oh, that's a lovely bit of glass.
0:09:48 > 0:09:52This is a beautiful bit of studio glass.
0:09:52 > 0:09:54Very decorative. A lot of depth.
0:09:54 > 0:09:56There's nice colours - there's blues, there's greens,
0:09:56 > 0:09:58there's greys. Very expensive.
0:09:58 > 0:10:01- Is it?- Yeah. I would imagine so, yes. It looks like...
0:10:01 > 0:10:06Can I change my mind, then? You can have something else.
0:10:06 > 0:10:07I'll give something else.
0:10:07 > 0:10:09Keep it for auction day, Danny.
0:10:09 > 0:10:11It's lovely, that is.
0:10:11 > 0:10:12This may not be Tiffany or Galle,
0:10:12 > 0:10:17but good-looking studio glass like this is always a crowd pleaser.
0:10:17 > 0:10:20Just goes to show that Vinette's friends
0:10:20 > 0:10:22are ready to dig deep for her.
0:10:22 > 0:10:25Well, I've known Vinette since she was 15 years old.
0:10:25 > 0:10:28Her heart lies within helping people,
0:10:28 > 0:10:32and she'll go out of her way to help anybody.
0:10:32 > 0:10:35Why do you think she does so much? Why does she do these...?
0:10:35 > 0:10:37Sometimes I say to her, you know, I said,
0:10:37 > 0:10:40"Come on, Vinette, you have got to, you have got to..."
0:10:40 > 0:10:42- Slow down.- "..slow down, because at the end of the day, you know,
0:10:42 > 0:10:44"you've only got one body and one life.
0:10:44 > 0:10:46"You have got to slow down."
0:10:46 > 0:10:49She's gone off and helped somebody, doing something for somebody else.
0:10:49 > 0:10:51Sounds like she's one of a kind.
0:10:52 > 0:10:56I think, when Vinette was born, they broke the mould.
0:10:56 > 0:10:58THEY LAUGH
0:10:58 > 0:11:00Everyone who knows Vinette loves her,
0:11:00 > 0:11:04and when you discover just how much she does for people around here,
0:11:04 > 0:11:06it's not hard to see why.
0:11:06 > 0:11:08After nine years of marriage,
0:11:08 > 0:11:11no-one appreciates her more than her husband
0:11:11 > 0:11:13and fellow care worker, Hugo.
0:11:13 > 0:11:17Part of her nature, she genuinely gets a buzz and pleasure
0:11:17 > 0:11:22from helping other people. She is always going the extra mile.
0:11:22 > 0:11:25Vinette's constantly on hand to help anyone with needs,
0:11:25 > 0:11:27in whatever way she can.
0:11:27 > 0:11:29But she's always had a particular interest
0:11:29 > 0:11:31in looking after older people.
0:11:31 > 0:11:36I grew up being around a lot of elderly people,
0:11:36 > 0:11:38and people in the community.
0:11:38 > 0:11:41Some of them were family, some of them were like family.
0:11:42 > 0:11:45And she would always be helping them.
0:11:45 > 0:11:47And as Vinette's friend, Blanche, explains,
0:11:47 > 0:11:50Vinette's still providing that help through her job.
0:11:50 > 0:11:54She's always in people's homes, helping other people. Yeah.
0:11:54 > 0:11:56Especially those over 50.
0:11:56 > 0:11:58Sometimes she spends hours with them,
0:11:58 > 0:12:00especially if they're on their own.
0:12:00 > 0:12:02She'll sit and chat, she'll cook, she'll wash,
0:12:02 > 0:12:04she'll take them different places, yes.
0:12:04 > 0:12:06But her urge to care for others
0:12:06 > 0:12:08doesn't switch off when she leaves the office.
0:12:08 > 0:12:11She's always on the phone as well, phoning people up,
0:12:11 > 0:12:14so she gives a lot of support that way.
0:12:14 > 0:12:16Probably in the evening,
0:12:16 > 0:12:19she sometimes makes two or three or more phone calls,
0:12:19 > 0:12:22people she knows, just seeing how they are.
0:12:22 > 0:12:26So that kind of thing is important, especially to more elderly people.
0:12:26 > 0:12:29Everyone in her neighbourhood benefits from her great kindness,
0:12:29 > 0:12:31and she's carved a particular niche
0:12:31 > 0:12:36as the go-to person for members of the Afro-Caribbean community.
0:12:36 > 0:12:40I mean, in the community, we have a lot of people who are on their own.
0:12:40 > 0:12:42So she does take that responsibility,
0:12:42 > 0:12:45especially those who may need statutory benefits,
0:12:45 > 0:12:47and is not aware of it.
0:12:47 > 0:12:51Vinette will go in and give the information, because she's well...
0:12:51 > 0:12:54She has a good understanding of what's going on.
0:12:54 > 0:12:56Another cause close to her heart
0:12:56 > 0:12:59is that of black and ethnic minority carers.
0:12:59 > 0:13:03She's part of Ebony Carers, which is a community group
0:13:03 > 0:13:07that kind of provides respite care for carers,
0:13:07 > 0:13:12helping someone when they needed a bath or something, a shower,
0:13:12 > 0:13:15they'd much rather someone from their cultural background,
0:13:15 > 0:13:19because they'll understand their cultural needs more.
0:13:19 > 0:13:22Vinette's tireless devotion to helping anyone who needs it
0:13:22 > 0:13:24would be impressive enough in itself,
0:13:24 > 0:13:27but what makes her particularly heroic
0:13:27 > 0:13:31is that she does all of this whilst suffering almost constant pain
0:13:31 > 0:13:33caused by fibromyalgia.
0:13:33 > 0:13:36Somebody can just nudge me, you know, playfully,
0:13:36 > 0:13:37and it's like, "Ouch!"
0:13:37 > 0:13:39I'll feel it, not just for days,
0:13:39 > 0:13:42maybe a week I'll feel that pain, still.
0:13:42 > 0:13:44They do say, you know,
0:13:44 > 0:13:48people with fibromyalgia can have a certain level of depression.
0:13:48 > 0:13:51It definitely, yeah, gets her down.
0:13:51 > 0:13:53But she just soldiers on.
0:13:54 > 0:13:56And back in Vinette's neighbourhood,
0:13:56 > 0:13:59it's clear the community love her for it.
0:13:59 > 0:14:02- Thank you. Bye-bye.- Bye-bye.
0:14:02 > 0:14:04Donations are still coming our way.
0:14:04 > 0:14:07Perfect to just pop on the bric-a-brac stall.
0:14:07 > 0:14:08Every little helps.
0:14:08 > 0:14:10Well, mostly Izzie's way, actually.
0:14:10 > 0:14:13We've got loads of really good bits here.
0:14:13 > 0:14:17We've got some toys, which always go down well with the kids.
0:14:17 > 0:14:21We've also got here... very nice Royal Doulton,
0:14:21 > 0:14:24almost like a rose bowl or a potpourri bowl, really.
0:14:24 > 0:14:26It's cut glass crystal,
0:14:26 > 0:14:29which is a much more highly skilled way of cutting your glass,
0:14:29 > 0:14:31and the edges are much sharper, it's much cleaner,
0:14:31 > 0:14:34it's just much better quality all-round.
0:14:34 > 0:14:37Royal Doulton may be more famous for porcelain,
0:14:37 > 0:14:39but its glassware is a perennial favourite.
0:14:39 > 0:14:41This is obviously modern,
0:14:41 > 0:14:43but I still think it could spark enough interest
0:14:43 > 0:14:48to pull in £20 on the pop-up rostrum. Nice find, Izzie.
0:14:48 > 0:14:51No interesting collectables in Danny's sights at the moment,
0:14:51 > 0:14:54but he has bumped into someone special...
0:14:54 > 0:14:55Do you want a hand?
0:14:55 > 0:14:57You look like your hands are full.
0:14:57 > 0:15:00..the person this is all for.
0:15:00 > 0:15:02My name's Danny. What's your name?
0:15:02 > 0:15:03- Vinette.- Vinette.
0:15:03 > 0:15:06- What do you do? - I do lots of things.
0:15:06 > 0:15:08- I work for the Independence Trust. - What's the Independence Trust?
0:15:08 > 0:15:11- Supporting...- Yeah, yeah, yeah. - ..people with mental health issues.
0:15:11 > 0:15:15And then in the afternoon, I was a community agent,
0:15:15 > 0:15:18community and village agent for Gloucester Rural Community Council.
0:15:18 > 0:15:21Do you help people, if somebody's, like, can't walk or something,
0:15:21 > 0:15:23you push the wheelchair or...?
0:15:23 > 0:15:25We do that as well. If needs be.
0:15:25 > 0:15:28That's under my voluntary cap,
0:15:28 > 0:15:30which is another cap again.
0:15:31 > 0:15:34Sounds like you're getting 28 hours out of 24.
0:15:34 > 0:15:37Yeah, everybody says that to me. "How do you fit it all in?"
0:15:37 > 0:15:39She's an incredible woman,
0:15:39 > 0:15:42and we'll need to work at least as hard as she does
0:15:42 > 0:15:47if we're going to make the £500 we need to send her on holiday.
0:15:47 > 0:15:48- Ay up! - DOGS BARK
0:15:48 > 0:15:51Their bark really is worse than their bite.
0:15:51 > 0:15:52- How are you?- I'm all right.
0:15:52 > 0:15:54I have got four nice bar stools.
0:15:54 > 0:15:57Oh, let's have a look. Get them out.
0:15:57 > 0:15:58Let's have a look.
0:15:59 > 0:16:00That's one.
0:16:00 > 0:16:02There's easily £20 here, I think,
0:16:02 > 0:16:05because this kind of retro look is really popular.
0:16:05 > 0:16:08- Now, that's a good start.- Yeah.
0:16:11 > 0:16:13Oh, that's nice. Oh, they look like...
0:16:13 > 0:16:17- something to do with testing your eyes, probably.- Yeah, yeah.
0:16:18 > 0:16:21Now, there's a sight for sore eyes.
0:16:21 > 0:16:23- These are quite interesting, aren't they?- Yeah, yeah.
0:16:23 > 0:16:27Whether that's... for, like, salt and pepper...
0:16:27 > 0:16:28That's a little spoon.
0:16:28 > 0:16:31I just adore the intricate Rococo decoration
0:16:31 > 0:16:34on this lovely little condiment set. Quite a find.
0:16:36 > 0:16:39These two plates look very oriental.
0:16:39 > 0:16:42When I rub my fingers along the top of the plate,
0:16:42 > 0:16:45the paint's raised above the actual ceramic -
0:16:45 > 0:16:49tells me straight away these are hand-painted.
0:16:49 > 0:16:52Very nice. Anything oriental is on fire.
0:16:52 > 0:16:54Beautiful. And in good nick.
0:16:54 > 0:16:57I could certainly see this pair setting the auction alight.
0:16:57 > 0:17:01In fact, all in all, Danny's man with the van has done us proud.
0:17:01 > 0:17:03I tell you what, I fell on my feet here.
0:17:03 > 0:17:06- Ay up.- Hello, hello.- Get away, you. Get away.- What you got here?
0:17:06 > 0:17:08In fact, it's a good job you've come over.
0:17:08 > 0:17:10Come and have a look. What you think of them?
0:17:10 > 0:17:13- Is it silver?- It's not, it's not hallmarked, is it?
0:17:13 > 0:17:16- White metal's very broad, though, isn't it?- I can't see any markings.
0:17:16 > 0:17:17So it's probably a low grade of silver, like,
0:17:17 > 0:17:19I wouldn't have thought any more than 800.
0:17:19 > 0:17:22- What is the Sterling grade? 925?- Mm.
0:17:22 > 0:17:24I was thinking it was continental.
0:17:24 > 0:17:28Yeah. But they're the same. Continental's 800 as well,
0:17:28 > 0:17:32- as a general rule.- Right. You're educating me here.
0:17:32 > 0:17:33No way! Am I, Danny?
0:17:33 > 0:17:35Just a little bit, just a little bit.
0:17:35 > 0:17:37Never too old to learn new tricks, eh, Danny?
0:17:40 > 0:17:41Hello.
0:17:41 > 0:17:44But now, with just minutes to go before they throw in the towel
0:17:44 > 0:17:45on their rummage day...
0:17:45 > 0:17:47That's what we like.
0:17:47 > 0:17:50..Danny and Izzie need to get busy.
0:17:50 > 0:17:52Oh! Lovely handbag.
0:17:52 > 0:17:54Hello, you.
0:17:54 > 0:17:56Is there somebody home?
0:17:57 > 0:18:00That's quite nice. German pottery.
0:18:00 > 0:18:04Very, very in vogue between the 1950s to the 1970s.
0:18:04 > 0:18:07It's all coming to now, and it's all adding up.
0:18:07 > 0:18:10I don't really know where to start. There's so much in here.
0:18:10 > 0:18:13- Thanks very much.- Bye.- Bye-bye.
0:18:13 > 0:18:16On the front here, there is some lovely Swarovski crystals.
0:18:16 > 0:18:19They're really going to take the fancy of somebody.
0:18:19 > 0:18:21We have a mantle clock here.
0:18:21 > 0:18:24Although it doesn't look it, it is a battery-powered clock.
0:18:24 > 0:18:28And it is raised on four scroll feet here,
0:18:28 > 0:18:30emulating an older style.
0:18:31 > 0:18:32Time's up.
0:18:32 > 0:18:34What a great way to end the day.
0:18:36 > 0:18:38All that's left to do is unload the van,
0:18:38 > 0:18:40see who's collected the most,
0:18:40 > 0:18:43and find some items to send over to the saleroom.
0:18:44 > 0:18:46Danny, Danny, Danny. How's your day been?
0:18:46 > 0:18:49Oh, brilliant. Well, you can see. It really has been brilliant.
0:18:49 > 0:18:51But you've not done so bad yourself.
0:18:51 > 0:18:53What's your favourite piece here?
0:18:53 > 0:18:56- Oh, that's a difficult one. - Is that a clock?
0:18:56 > 0:18:58Yes, but it is only battery, battery clock.
0:18:58 > 0:19:00Oh, but it looks old, doesn't it?
0:19:00 > 0:19:03Yes, I think it's in an old style. I think it has got some age,
0:19:03 > 0:19:06but I don't think it's as old as it's purporting to be.
0:19:06 > 0:19:08Is this some Doulton you've got going on down here?
0:19:08 > 0:19:10The vase, the potpourri vase is Royal Doulton,
0:19:10 > 0:19:13- Royal Doulton Crystal.- Oh, is it? - And it comes in its box as well.
0:19:13 > 0:19:17It seems to me like I might have a bit of trouble keeping up with you.
0:19:17 > 0:19:18- No.- You might have, um...
0:19:18 > 0:19:20Don't get my hopes up, Danny.
0:19:20 > 0:19:23Well, don't get them fully up, but...
0:19:23 > 0:19:25Look at them dolls. All these porcelain dolls.
0:19:25 > 0:19:26- Yeah.- I've got loads of them.
0:19:26 > 0:19:30We'd be able to make a stall with all porcelain dolls.
0:19:30 > 0:19:32Then, of course, Izzie, there's a bit of quality here, you know.
0:19:32 > 0:19:34- Look at them four chairs. - You know, I like those.
0:19:34 > 0:19:37- I do like those. - I should think you do.
0:19:37 > 0:19:40I should think you do. I think I've done quite well, but...
0:19:40 > 0:19:43- You have got some nice pieces. Yes.- I have, haven't I?
0:19:43 > 0:19:45But you haven't got as much as me.
0:19:45 > 0:19:47No, you... Well, you've got some nice pieces,
0:19:47 > 0:19:52- and you have also got...- Quantity. - ..quantity to go alongside with it.
0:19:52 > 0:19:53Have you got a star item?
0:19:53 > 0:19:56- I do.- Let's have a look. - Shall I walk you to it?
0:19:56 > 0:19:58Well, I don't know, where... Oh, here!
0:19:58 > 0:19:59# Ta-da! #
0:19:59 > 0:20:02OK, so, it's actually the easel.
0:20:02 > 0:20:04Oh, I was going to say, I didn't think it was going to be
0:20:04 > 0:20:07- that bit of art. - Don't be rude about my art!
0:20:07 > 0:20:10Oh, it's a nice one. It's an old vintage one, isn't it?
0:20:10 > 0:20:11Yes, so I didn't think there was...
0:20:11 > 0:20:13I mean, I think there's some age to it,
0:20:13 > 0:20:15but I didn't think it was, like, 100 years old.
0:20:15 > 0:20:17- No, it's...- But it's nice. - Yeah, and it's practical.
0:20:17 > 0:20:20- Exactly.- Wait till you see my bit of cream.
0:20:20 > 0:20:21Voila.
0:20:22 > 0:20:24Danny, that is really nice!
0:20:24 > 0:20:25Isn't it just?
0:20:25 > 0:20:28I think it's quite a modern piece of just studio art, isn't it?
0:20:28 > 0:20:31- Yes.- Glass, really. - I would agree. I don't know this...
0:20:31 > 0:20:34- Maker's mark.- No. No issue. - Doesn't have a label.- No.
0:20:34 > 0:20:35I mean, normally with studio glass,
0:20:35 > 0:20:38you are looking for the signature on the bottom.
0:20:38 > 0:20:40Which... But it's nice, I like it. It's got the look, certainly.
0:20:40 > 0:20:44I've got a feeling that that might do exceptionally well
0:20:44 > 0:20:47- on Paul's pop-up auction. - Well, I like it and you like it.
0:20:47 > 0:20:50So no doubt, so will a lot more people.
0:20:50 > 0:20:52Great work, Team Rummage.
0:20:52 > 0:20:54So what's going to the saleroom?
0:20:54 > 0:20:57I think, from my side of things, the easel,
0:20:57 > 0:20:59- I'd like to send the easel to the saleroom.- Good shout.
0:20:59 > 0:21:02And I would like to send the oriental plates
0:21:02 > 0:21:04- and also the continental silver. - Definitely.
0:21:04 > 0:21:08Nice one. And I spot a couple of pieces ripe for upcycling.
0:21:08 > 0:21:10I was thinking the white corner unit.
0:21:10 > 0:21:13And I would like to send the display unit.
0:21:13 > 0:21:15I like it, but it is quite tired.
0:21:15 > 0:21:18Well, that's the whole reason we're going to be upcycling it, Izzie.
0:21:20 > 0:21:21Well done, you two.
0:21:21 > 0:21:23But who's today's winner?
0:21:23 > 0:21:27So, tell me, Izzie, where do you value the whole lot at, then?
0:21:27 > 0:21:30I'm going to say, I think about 200 minimum.
0:21:30 > 0:21:33Well, do you know what, Izzie? I'm going to put my hand there
0:21:33 > 0:21:35- and I'm going to say, you've won this one.- I..
0:21:35 > 0:21:37- Danny!- You've won this one.
0:21:37 > 0:21:40Well, I've come out on top today, Danny, with more stuff,
0:21:40 > 0:21:42but it's down to you and Paul at the street party.
0:21:42 > 0:21:46You can rest assured, come rain or shine, we're going to do our best,
0:21:46 > 0:21:50and I'm sure on the day, our best is going to be good enough.
0:21:50 > 0:21:52Danny and Izzie have done well,
0:21:52 > 0:21:56but is it enough to push us towards our £500 target?
0:21:56 > 0:21:58Hard to say.
0:21:58 > 0:22:01Now it's all down to our auction day.
0:22:06 > 0:22:09Getting this up and running is a massive task,
0:22:09 > 0:22:11and I couldn't possibly do it all by myself.
0:22:12 > 0:22:14Good. Let's get on with it.
0:22:14 > 0:22:18So Danny and Izzie are taking turns to help out on our auction day,
0:22:18 > 0:22:20and today Danny's come onboard.
0:22:20 > 0:22:22Thanks very much for coming. Put that one on.
0:22:22 > 0:22:24That one's ready-made.
0:22:24 > 0:22:25And he's not the only one -
0:22:25 > 0:22:27an impressive number of volunteers
0:22:27 > 0:22:30have made the effort to come out and help too.
0:22:32 > 0:22:34Morning, everyone.
0:22:34 > 0:22:37Our volunteers, thank you so much for turning up.
0:22:37 > 0:22:38Have you all got nametags yet?
0:22:38 > 0:22:41I see you've met Danny. He's been busy already.
0:22:41 > 0:22:43Look, thank you so much, this is so important to us,
0:22:43 > 0:22:45because we cannot do this by ourselves,
0:22:45 > 0:22:49and our target today is to raise as much money as possible.
0:22:49 > 0:22:51Would you like to do teas, coffees and cakes?
0:22:51 > 0:22:54- Yeah.- Could you do that? Anybody else want to be on teas,
0:22:54 > 0:22:56- coffees and cakes?- Yeah.- Brilliant. What's your name?- Matt.
0:22:56 > 0:22:59Matt, thank you for helping out. You've got your work cut out.
0:22:59 > 0:23:03Riley and Kayleigh, can you go on some bric-a-brac and sell that?
0:23:03 > 0:23:05- Yeah.- Lots of money is going to be changing hands.
0:23:05 > 0:23:06Are you good with sums?
0:23:06 > 0:23:08- Yes.- Yeah, OK.
0:23:08 > 0:23:11So three... Take away, let's say, three from 11.
0:23:11 > 0:23:13- Nine.- Nine. It's not quite, is it?
0:23:15 > 0:23:16- What is it?- Eight.
0:23:16 > 0:23:17Three from 11 is...
0:23:17 > 0:23:19- Eight.- Eight, well done. High-five.
0:23:19 > 0:23:21There we are. So, can we do this?
0:23:21 > 0:23:23- ALL:- Yeah! - So give us a high-five.
0:23:23 > 0:23:25- ALL:- Yes!
0:23:25 > 0:23:27Stations, everyone, and good luck.
0:23:29 > 0:23:32While our little army of volunteers get everything shipshape,
0:23:32 > 0:23:37I want to get a closer look at Danny and Izzie's rummage day spoils.
0:23:37 > 0:23:40There's lots of things here. Something for everybody.
0:23:40 > 0:23:43Lots of art. Plenty of art. Lots of bric-a-brac.
0:23:43 > 0:23:45I think we've got one or two prize pieces.
0:23:45 > 0:23:48- Did Izzie find these?- I found these. - You found those?
0:23:48 > 0:23:53If we get 20- £30 for that lot, that is a fantastic result.
0:23:53 > 0:23:55- I think you're right. - That's a good find.
0:23:55 > 0:23:59Ooh, look at that. You obviously visited an optometrist's house.
0:23:59 > 0:24:01Is that what they call them?
0:24:01 > 0:24:03Someone that measures eyesight, checks your eyesight.
0:24:03 > 0:24:06- How about that? - They don't look bad.- Who said that?
0:24:08 > 0:24:09We might get a fiver for those.
0:24:11 > 0:24:12Interesting stuff there.
0:24:12 > 0:24:15I'm looking forward to the pop-up auction already.
0:24:17 > 0:24:18Quick, quick!
0:24:19 > 0:24:21I'll just drop that on there.

0:24:40 > 0:24:42CHEERING
0:24:52 > 0:24:54Grab and pay. Grab and pay.

0:25:41 > 0:25:44There's Danny, look! 25p.
0:25:44 > 0:25:46Now we know where the smart money's at.
0:25:47 > 0:25:52To be honest, the only face I want to see at the moment is Vinette's.
0:25:52 > 0:25:54Worryingly, there's no sign of her.
0:25:54 > 0:25:57But her daughter, Charlotte, and her granddaughter, Jasmine,
0:25:57 > 0:25:59have just arrived.
0:25:59 > 0:26:03So what sort of person is your mum? Tell me a bit about her.

0:26:06 > 0:26:08and loves to help everyone.
0:26:08 > 0:26:10Even if she's only just met you,
0:26:10 > 0:26:14she would love to see what she can do to help you out.
0:26:14 > 0:26:17You know, even if that means putting herself to last,
0:26:17 > 0:26:19and that's what she does quite often.
0:26:19 > 0:26:23I know, you know, she was so busy helping someone else out
0:26:23 > 0:26:26this morning, so I'm very excited today.

0:26:31 > 0:26:34When did all this start, all this volunteering and helping people out?
0:26:34 > 0:26:36- How many years ago? - It started when I was very young.
0:26:36 > 0:26:40You know, sometimes someone might just want someone to speak to,
0:26:40 > 0:26:43the elderly, and she'd make them a cup of tea.
0:26:43 > 0:26:46Sometimes she's helping people to paint, decorate,
0:26:46 > 0:26:50teaching older people computer skills...
0:26:50 > 0:26:51- She's brilliant, isn't she?- Yeah.
0:26:51 > 0:26:53She literally does everything.
0:26:53 > 0:26:56You've got some big footsteps to follow, haven't you?
0:26:56 > 0:26:59Yeah! How do you think Granny's going to react to this?

0:27:02 > 0:27:05- Yeah.- She's going to look very shocked.
0:27:05 > 0:27:07She might even cry.

0:27:09 > 0:27:11- I bet you will. Yeah.- Yeah.
0:27:11 > 0:27:14Oh, there's no doubt that Vinette's a really special person.
0:27:14 > 0:27:16I just hope she shows up.
0:27:16 > 0:27:18Look at the condition of that record.
0:27:18 > 0:27:20How much are the records?

0:27:28 > 0:27:30We do seem to be pulling in the cash here today,
0:27:30 > 0:27:33but it's impossible to tell whether it'll be enough.
0:27:33 > 0:27:34I tell you what, it's hard work.
0:27:34 > 0:27:38But we're getting there, slowly but surely. We're getting there.

0:30:32 > 0:30:36I actually go round, anything in terms of adult social care...
0:30:36 > 0:30:38- Yeah.- ..I'm the first point of contact,
0:30:38 > 0:30:40but sometimes people are just lonely.
0:30:40 > 0:30:46- Yeah.- But I am not just that, you know, I'm...a volunteer and...
0:30:46 > 0:30:47Cake maker.

0:30:57 > 0:31:00- Gosh, you don't stop, then? - No, I don't.- Constantly on the go.
0:31:00 > 0:31:01Thursday, I went to Stroud,
0:31:01 > 0:31:06cos a lady phoned me, "Vinette, Vinette, I need help."
0:31:06 > 0:31:08So she had a lot of rubbish outside her house
0:31:08 > 0:31:11and she was supposed to pay 250 quid for this rubbish.
0:31:11 > 0:31:14I said, "You're not paying that. You're not paying that."
0:31:14 > 0:31:15- She was being ripped off, was she? - Yeah.
0:31:15 > 0:31:18These are older people, vulnerable, on their own.
0:31:18 > 0:31:20I said, "Hang on there, I'm coming."
0:31:20 > 0:31:22I grab all my bits from the shed...
0:31:22 > 0:31:24So you are constantly on the go. Are you shooting off?
0:31:24 > 0:31:26I know you're really, really busy.
0:31:26 > 0:31:27Are you here for the rest of the day?
0:31:27 > 0:31:29- I am here for the rest of the day. - Oh, thank goodness for that.
0:31:29 > 0:31:32- I'm staying now.- Brilliant. I'll catch up with you later.
0:31:32 > 0:31:33What a lovely woman.
0:31:33 > 0:31:38Friendly, funny, but most of all, very, very kind and caring.
0:31:38 > 0:31:41I just cant wait to spring our surprise on her.
0:31:41 > 0:31:44I tell you what, I definitely think we got away with that.
0:31:44 > 0:31:47She hasn't got a clue all of this is for her.
0:31:49 > 0:31:53But if we don't make the money we need for Vinette and Hugo's break,
0:31:53 > 0:31:55there will be no surprise to spring.
0:31:55 > 0:31:57Cheers. Thank you.
0:31:57 > 0:32:01So I'm really hoping our upcycled furniture can pump up our profits,
0:32:01 > 0:32:06starting with Izzie's bashed-about corner unit.
0:32:06 > 0:32:07It was quite grubby, to be honest.
0:32:07 > 0:32:10And we've cleaned it up and we've jazzed it up
0:32:10 > 0:32:11with some stickers and...
0:32:11 > 0:32:13I think it would be quite nice in a kid's bedroom.
0:32:13 > 0:32:15- Like a little corner shelving unit? - Exactly.
0:32:15 > 0:32:18I don't know about you, but I think £3 to £5 for that.
0:32:18 > 0:32:20- I think it's fair. - Yeah, that will be fair.
0:32:20 > 0:32:22- I mean, if it gets more than that, it's brilliant.- Yes.
0:32:22 > 0:32:24OK, but that's a good sort of starting point.
0:32:24 > 0:32:26Danny spotted the upcycle potential
0:32:26 > 0:32:29in the sturdy but old-fashioned cabinet.
0:32:29 > 0:32:33- It was real dark, you know.- Yeah. - Your traditional brown furniture.
0:32:33 > 0:32:35Whereas now it's got a nice eggshell blue on it.
0:32:35 > 0:32:39It's been painted. We've got some nice wallpaper inside.
0:32:39 > 0:32:41Stripy wallpaper, stripy shirt.
0:32:41 > 0:32:42Was this your choice?
0:32:44 > 0:32:46I like this.
0:32:46 > 0:32:49But because the glass is cracked, it may deter people.
0:32:49 > 0:32:51£8 to £12 on that.
0:32:51 > 0:32:53- Fair price. - Yeah, it's a fair price.
0:32:53 > 0:32:57It's also three to four times more than we could have hoped to make
0:32:57 > 0:33:00if we'd left them in their original state.
0:33:00 > 0:33:01Nice work, Danny.
0:33:01 > 0:33:03But with little or no time left
0:33:03 > 0:33:06before our stalls shut shop for the day,
0:33:06 > 0:33:08we've got to sell, sell, sell.
0:33:08 > 0:33:11Come on, don't be shy. Anything you want now 50p.
0:33:11 > 0:33:13Be quick, now. Be quick.
0:33:13 > 0:33:16Oh, look at this. People are throwing money at us.
0:33:18 > 0:33:21Thank you. Keep spending, spending, spending.
0:33:21 > 0:33:24Let's clear up these last few plants before they're all gone.
0:33:24 > 0:33:28That's what we like. Look - all the dolls are flying out now. 50p.
0:33:28 > 0:33:31I'm going to have my cabinet back, you painted it white.
0:33:31 > 0:33:32- Do you like it? - I'm pleased with that.
0:33:32 > 0:33:34I'll get my trolley and go and pick it up now.
0:33:34 > 0:33:36- Oh...- Pick it back up.
0:33:36 > 0:33:41Ladies and gentlemen, the stalls are now officially closed.
0:33:41 > 0:33:43The team are totting up the pounds and pence...
0:33:46 > 0:33:49..the entertainers are keeping the crowd happy,
0:33:49 > 0:33:52and I think our secret's still safe.
0:33:52 > 0:33:53But I'm feeling nervous.
0:33:53 > 0:33:57I want to grab a last-minute chat with Vinette's husband, Hugo.
0:33:57 > 0:33:59I've heard lots of wonderful stories about her.
0:33:59 > 0:34:01She is possibly the kindest person in the world.
0:34:01 > 0:34:03Yeah, yeah. In my book, she is,
0:34:03 > 0:34:06but in other people's books, definitely, yeah.
0:34:06 > 0:34:09How do you think she's going to react today,
0:34:09 > 0:34:12when she finds out all of this is for her?
0:34:13 > 0:34:17She'll probably get quite emotional.
0:34:17 > 0:34:19I think it'll be a lovely surprise for her,
0:34:19 > 0:34:22cos it's not about, you know, the awards or accolades.
0:34:22 > 0:34:26- No.- It's nice for her to get some recognition.
0:34:26 > 0:34:28Oh, well, you know, we know,
0:34:28 > 0:34:33after listening to so many stories from people here in this community,
0:34:33 > 0:34:37that we're doing it for the right reasons and the right person.
0:34:37 > 0:34:39But if we haven't made good money today,
0:34:39 > 0:34:43our plans to send Vinette off on holiday will go up in smoke.
0:34:43 > 0:34:45And now it's the nerve-racking moment of truth.
0:34:46 > 0:34:51So we've got a final tally of what was taken at the stalls today.
0:34:51 > 0:34:52What is it, Danny?
0:34:52 > 0:34:54£357.
0:34:54 > 0:34:56- Not bad.- I don't think that's bad.
0:34:56 > 0:34:58- Not bad at all, really.- Yes.
0:34:58 > 0:35:00Don't forget, we sent some things off to auction.
0:35:00 > 0:35:04- Oh, yes.- And we made a grand total of £62.- Oh, very well done.
0:35:04 > 0:35:07Add that on, that's £419.
0:35:07 > 0:35:09- It's close.- It's very close.
0:35:09 > 0:35:10- It is close. - And it's been hard work.
0:35:10 > 0:35:12But I think it's still doable.
0:35:12 > 0:35:15OK, put it there. Let's do it.
0:35:15 > 0:35:17To reach our £500 goal,
0:35:17 > 0:35:21I've got to rattle up at least £81 with the gavel.
0:35:21 > 0:35:23I think I can do it. I hope I can.
0:35:25 > 0:35:29Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for digging deep.
0:35:29 > 0:35:32We have a target to raise, and we haven't reached it yet,
0:35:32 > 0:35:36so I'm now relying on you to get your hand in your pocket once more.
0:35:36 > 0:35:39If they don't, we're in all kinds of trouble.
0:35:39 > 0:35:42Here goes with Danny's star find, the beautiful studio glass.
0:35:42 > 0:35:43What's it worth, Danny?
0:35:43 > 0:35:46It has got to be worth £20, £25 of anybody's money.
0:35:46 > 0:35:47Right, you've heard it from the man.

0:36:03 > 0:36:05Well done. Very well done.
0:36:05 > 0:36:06It's an encouraging start.
0:36:06 > 0:36:09I'm hoping Izzie's Royal Doulton bowl can match it.
0:36:09 > 0:36:12Surely it's worth five. Thank you. I'm looking for six now.
0:36:12 > 0:36:15Six anywhere? Six, and I'm selling at five.
