:00:28. > :01:01.And it's a truth universally acknowledged that Jane Austen's

:01:02. > :01:07.Pride and Prejudice does not feature Zombies.

:01:08. > :01:10.Plus Will Smith knocks heads together in medical drama

:01:11. > :01:16.And we're also joined by critic Rhianna Dhillon.

:01:17. > :01:24.15 years ago, the world was introduced to Derek Zoolander -

:01:25. > :01:30.Now the creator of poses such as Magnum and Blue Steel

:01:31. > :01:49.He was once the world's most famous male model. But that was a long,

:01:50. > :01:57.long time ago. Derek Zoolander! It has been a long time. Yes. Not long

:01:58. > :02:03.enough. Derek and Hansel have been out of the limelight for 15 years. I

:02:04. > :02:09.am with Interpol and we need your help. She is hot and I trust. Were

:02:10. > :02:14.called back by Penelope Cruz to help solve this sinister plot where the

:02:15. > :02:21.superstars of the world are being gunned down. Six pop stars have died

:02:22. > :02:28.in the last year, all with that look... Peace out, world. There is

:02:29. > :02:34.only one criminal mastermind who could be behind this. I am bad to

:02:35. > :02:42.the core! Meanwhile, Mugatu has been locked up in the fashion prison.

:02:43. > :02:48.Where is my coffee? And he is full of hatred. And he wants to seek out

:02:49. > :03:00.the engines. Not only on Derek but the entire fashion world, which we

:03:01. > :03:08.meet... My character! Alexandria, she is the one who tells everybody

:03:09. > :03:13.what is trendy. You two are amazing. The character was supposed to

:03:14. > :03:18.mispronounce words due to all of the plastic surgery. Her mouth does not

:03:19. > :03:30.move much. So we just went with that. Kind of Russian, somewhere

:03:31. > :03:35.along the line. I'm sorry, I cannot understand one word you are saying!

:03:36. > :03:44.Toss me the knife! You've got it! Oh! We thought it would be fun to do

:03:45. > :03:55.a sequel to the first movie that nobody wanted, because they did not

:03:56. > :03:58.go to see the movie. Old? We can honestly say that nobody saw the

:03:59. > :04:05.first movie and then it was one of these things work DVD-R and cable

:04:06. > :04:11.television, it built up this cult following, which was too strong to

:04:12. > :04:18.ignore. I guess fashion has changed. Argue like a male model or female?

:04:19. > :04:25.All is all. Do you have a hot dog or a long? A lot has changed in fashion

:04:26. > :04:31.and technology, the rise of social media but one thing these guys find

:04:32. > :04:37.has not changed is it still helps to be ridiculously good-looking. He

:04:38. > :04:44.seems like a nice guy. You seem like an idiot. What do you think? If you

:04:45. > :04:49.are old enough to know Derek Zoolander from 2001 you will be old

:04:50. > :04:53.enough to be scared by modern life, just like Derek 's a lot of the

:04:54. > :05:00.jokes about him coming to terms with this terrifying world of Netflix and

:05:01. > :05:04.Uber. I cannot say all of them because of product placement! It is

:05:05. > :05:08.strange because the first film, there was no audience waiting for it

:05:09. > :05:13.so it felt free and joyful and you would meet people at parties and you

:05:14. > :05:20.would do lose deal and you had a friend for life! Like the Masons!

:05:21. > :05:27.You would not have gotten in -- Blue Steel. This time there is this huge

:05:28. > :05:31.marketing budget and the designers and models are in on it and it is

:05:32. > :05:36.funny stuff but it also feels a little self-conscious, like a movie

:05:37. > :05:43.taking a selfie of itself and it feels stiff, like a forehead with

:05:44. > :05:48.Botox! I am aware that the clip makes it look like funniest film of

:05:49. > :05:52.all time. There are some very funny moments and though the lead

:05:53. > :05:57.characters are fantastic, I fell in love with Penelope Cruz yet again.

:05:58. > :06:02.Incredible chest! I thought that Kristen Wiig was fantastic. She was

:06:03. > :06:06.channelling Versace and I thought that was inspired and she will have

:06:07. > :06:13.improvised every single line, and brilliant. I am over Will Ferrell as

:06:14. > :06:21.Mugatu, I was never a project eagerly with him, I get quite bored

:06:22. > :06:26.with his thing, he just talks very fast and hopes that something will

:06:27. > :06:33.stick. That is what I do! Welcome to our world! I think you are both

:06:34. > :06:39.being unfair, I thought the cameos, is that the most... I am not

:06:40. > :06:48.obsessed with fashion but there is one scene and you go, it really is

:06:49. > :06:56.Wang and Kate Moss! Some of it pinpoints this, Christian Wade, and

:06:57. > :07:02.it does get to be 90s, that pastiche of the 90s, that advertisement for a

:07:03. > :07:08.one emotion with Derek and Naomi Campbell, the essence of 90s in

:07:09. > :07:13.those 30 seconds. I just kept thinking that I know that Ben

:07:14. > :07:16.Stiller does not really want to be doing this, he wants to be a

:07:17. > :07:24.director and he has been making great films for 20 years. I

:07:25. > :07:27.disagree! I think you wanted to... There is the cameo of the dirty DJ,

:07:28. > :07:34.I thought this was better than Zoolander. But I got more of the

:07:35. > :07:41.references in this one than what I did in 2001, when I was 12. Why say

:07:42. > :07:50.that! There is this wonderful Tiger Arbeit hipsters, films being so

:07:51. > :07:54.massive, yes... Kiefer Sutherland. Acting against type, they get the

:07:55. > :08:01.cameos right and Kiefer Sutherland pretending to be pregnant, that was

:08:02. > :08:09.excellent. It does not work when the cameos are self-aware, perhaps.

:08:10. > :08:11.There is some funny stuff. I loved it!

:08:12. > :08:13.Next, Ryan Reynolds is foul-mouthed, Marvel anti-hero Deadpool.

:08:14. > :08:15.Stuck in development hell for almost a decade,

:08:16. > :08:17.this superhero movie is not your usual man

:08:18. > :08:35.I love you. We can fight this. You are right. Cancer only affects my

:08:36. > :08:42.prostate and brain, things I can live without. We can make it better.

:08:43. > :08:48.You are a fighter. We can give you abilities most men only dream of.

:08:49. > :09:01.Make you a Subito. Promise you will do right by me. Please do not make

:09:02. > :09:07.the soup green or animated. Posh spice. Come on, you will leave me

:09:08. > :09:34.alone with less angry Rosie O'Donnell is Mike!

:09:35. > :09:43.Wait! You might be wondering why the red suit but that is so that the bad

:09:44. > :09:47.guys cannot see me bleeding. This man has got the right idea, he wore

:09:48. > :09:48.guys cannot see me bleeding. This the brown pants. Daddy needs to

:09:49. > :09:54.express some rage! --

:09:55. > :10:27.the old lady pants and here. It What did you think? This made me

:10:28. > :10:37.laugh more than I expected, What did you think? This made me

:10:38. > :10:39.has some moody girl, some hot What did you think? This made me

:10:40. > :10:43.instead of their actual names, everything is an in joke and very

:10:44. > :10:51.sure of itself and I thought that was brilliant.

:10:52. > :10:53.sure of itself and I thought that Deadpool breaks the fourth wall and

:10:54. > :10:57.makes a joke about breaking the fourth wall. Normally I would hate

:10:58. > :11:02.that when actors talk to me, I despise that but here, he made it

:11:03. > :11:10.work although perhaps he could have maybe done at several times less?

:11:11. > :11:14.You are not keen? It is so pleased with itself that even if I like it,

:11:15. > :11:20.it is like going on a date with somebody who keeps looking anywhere!

:11:21. > :11:24.You are pleasant, you have done something good but... They are

:11:25. > :11:28.loving themselves. You take a deep breath before you talk about a film

:11:29. > :11:33.like Deadpool because there is an army of fans of the comic who are

:11:34. > :11:37.convinced this is the greatest film ever, and if you get on the wrong

:11:38. > :11:42.side of that, they can say nasty things on message boards! The relief

:11:43. > :11:46.is I think it is very good, it takes a lot of risks and they pay off. The

:11:47. > :11:52.expression on your face! It is crude... Some parts are very funny.

:11:53. > :12:00.People were howling with laughter but I think also there are moments

:12:01. > :12:05.when you go, just stop! There is a whiff of smug. Another Ryan Reynolds

:12:06. > :12:11.makes a joke about being Ryan Reynolds? Those things are

:12:12. > :12:18.condiments in this context, this scatter-gun, taking aim at

:12:19. > :12:23.everything, the later recordings of Wham!, X-Men movies. And the acting

:12:24. > :12:28.talent of Ryan Reynolds. I think that works a charm. Ryan Reynolds

:12:29. > :12:33.had something of Jim Kerry about him. In the beginning, talking from

:12:34. > :12:38.behind with his hands up. That kind of set piece and like, I can see

:12:39. > :12:43.that appealing to a massive fan base. Normally with superhero films,

:12:44. > :12:47.there is a cosmic absence of a sense of humour and you can see the

:12:48. > :12:53.executives, the budgets are very high, you can almost save set, so

:12:54. > :12:57.the executives being very nervous about how this will pay off and this

:12:58. > :13:01.film seems like it has the feel of something which was made without

:13:02. > :13:05.that interference and they keep making one of the many in jokes

:13:06. > :13:12.about the lack of any budget! But the lack of a budget, you can see

:13:13. > :13:13.that, is the blessing. And this thing is marvel with a twist of

:13:14. > :13:28.South Park. And they did the independent film

:13:29. > :13:33.thing with and man. It is nice they have taken a step back. And there

:13:34. > :13:37.are bit in it but were very funny, but when you talk about being

:13:38. > :13:42.self-conscious, because you said zoo lander was self-conscious, and I

:13:43. > :13:47.felt that it wasn't. They have made this to make us laugh, and that is

:13:48. > :13:53.all they want to do, but this is so self-conscious. I sit completely

:13:54. > :13:58.opposite, and isn't it refreshing to have a superhero who is interested

:13:59. > :14:03.in women, so you are not Christian Bale, silently brooding your tomb of

:14:04. > :14:12.torment and despair, you are engaging with the opposite sex! Yes,

:14:13. > :14:17.although they did have to make her a stripper! To me it felt like a film

:14:18. > :14:21.which was dating a couple of steps forward. But at least the plot was

:14:22. > :14:24.quite simple and I could follow it, unlike Avenges 2, I couldn't follow

:14:25. > :14:27.that. Will Smith stars as a doctor

:14:28. > :14:30.determined to expose the truth about the hidden dangers

:14:31. > :14:45.of American football, Hearts in Pittsburgh are broken over

:14:46. > :14:49.the loss of Michael Webster who suffered from mental illness. Why

:14:50. > :15:03.does an apparently healthy famous son of the city die in disgrace that

:15:04. > :15:09.50? Concussion is about Bennet Omalu, who was one of the first to

:15:10. > :15:16.discover this type of Concussion which many American footballers were

:15:17. > :15:20.suffering from. Repetitive head trauma chokes the brain. I think I

:15:21. > :15:28.have found a disease that no one has ever seen before. He sections Mike

:15:29. > :15:37.Webster's brain, and find out about CTE, but Wright is all the way. If

:15:38. > :15:43.you don't speak for the dead, who will? The film has that David and

:15:44. > :15:50.Goliath quality way he inadvertently takes on the big corporation.

:15:51. > :15:57.Football is the beating heart of America. You are going to war with a

:15:58. > :16:01.corporation that owns the day of the week that the church used to own. It

:16:02. > :16:07.is that big corporate machine that doesn't want its will disrupt did,

:16:08. > :16:12.and this man stands up to it, it is inspiring. If just 10% of the

:16:13. > :16:16.mothers in America decide that football is too dangerous for their

:16:17. > :16:26.sons to play, that is the end. If you continue to deny my work, the

:16:27. > :16:34.world will deny my work. But men, your men, continue to die, their

:16:35. > :16:46.families left in ruins. Tell the truth. Tell the truth!

:16:47. > :16:52.His journey was like my grandfather's journey out of the

:16:53. > :16:59.Ukraine, someone who wanted to better themselves who saw the United

:17:00. > :17:02.States as a step. When I was a boy growing up in Nigeria, heaven was

:17:03. > :17:11.here. And America was here. And his desire

:17:12. > :17:15.was merely to be a citizen, tell the truth, do the job well, contribute

:17:16. > :17:20.to society, and these were very simple, very American concepts. If

:17:21. > :17:25.he walked away and kept his mother shot, I don't think many people

:17:26. > :17:28.would have blamed him. What is happening now, what you think they

:17:29. > :17:39.are doing to you, it is nothing. They will be doing your autopsy. It

:17:40. > :17:42.all looks very rousing, but Concussion is a nervous film,

:17:43. > :17:47.because it ran the risk of getting on the wrong side of the NFL, they

:17:48. > :17:50.are the people in America that God doesn't want to get on the wrong

:17:51. > :17:56.side of, so the script feels like it has come with huge chunks of it

:17:57. > :17:59.redacted. If you are going to stand there as Will Smith and demand that

:18:00. > :18:02.people tell the truth, you need to tell the truth yourself a little

:18:03. > :18:08.more often and possibly a bit louder than this film. Do you think it was

:18:09. > :18:15.edited? By the NFL? There have been a lot of rumours, and a lot of stuff

:18:16. > :18:21.came out in the Sony about the studio's enthusiasm for re-insuring

:18:22. > :18:26.-- reassuring the anxieties of the NFL, to say. I just thought it was

:18:27. > :18:30.incredibly boring. I don't understand how a film like this is

:18:31. > :18:33.based on a lack of common sense, as if people don't know that smashing

:18:34. > :18:38.your heads together doesn't cause some sort of mental illness, even if

:18:39. > :18:41.we don't know what exactly that is. And that rarely frustratingly,

:18:42. > :18:47.although I know it isn't the film's fault. It just made Americans or NFL

:18:48. > :18:53.fans looking credibly stupid, as if it was some big revelation.

:18:54. > :18:59.Interesting. I thought that it was a brilliant story. I think he is

:19:00. > :19:02.Interesting. I thought that it was a fascinating, the real-life doctor,

:19:03. > :19:06.and the work he did, and there is a brilliant scene where he was talking

:19:07. > :19:12.about woodpeckers and brilliant scene where he was talking

:19:13. > :19:19.looking after the brain, and I don't understand why that isn't the film I

:19:20. > :19:20.saw. Yes, and that story about how America's national game reduces

:19:21. > :19:24.these heroes to shambling America's national game reduces

:19:25. > :19:27.but what the movie really wants to America's national game reduces

:19:28. > :19:34.be is a vehicle for Will Smith, it America's national game reduces

:19:35. > :19:35.introduced, but instead of finding out about the fascinating

:19:36. > :19:37.introduced, but instead of finding who is the perfect doctor you want

:19:38. > :19:53.not just when you are alive of somebody doing an impression of

:19:54. > :19:57.Will Smith Ness, it of somebody doing an impression of

:19:58. > :20:01.moment. And of somebody doing an impression of

:20:02. > :20:06.Oscar which hasn't played out. And I think it was offensive towards the

:20:07. > :20:06.actions of mental illness in this, they were so completely

:20:07. > :20:10.actions of mental illness in this, and not realistic. If they

:20:11. > :20:20.actions of mental illness in this, could have believed it more. They

:20:21. > :20:30.were trying to Hollywood are mental illness, which you can't do. Is

:20:31. > :20:41.there any saving grace? Yes, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, I groaned when she came

:20:42. > :20:43.on, but I loved her in Belle, but she's far too good for

:20:44. > :20:48.on, but I loved her in Belle, but and for Will Smith. She is

:20:49. > :20:50.tremendous. Her part here, she comes in as the lodger, essentially. She

:20:51. > :21:00.gets on the wrong in as the lodger, essentially. She

:21:01. > :21:03.for watching the television. And then you see a ring on her finger

:21:04. > :21:05.and she is pregnant, which is quite the precis of married life, it was a

:21:06. > :21:10.little brisk! It certainly does. Next the genteel world

:21:11. > :21:13.of Jane Austen is turned on its head Lily James and Sam Riley star

:21:14. > :21:17.in a kick-ass tale of bonnets, balls and sword-wielding

:21:18. > :21:35.zombie slaying. To succeed in polite society, a

:21:36. > :21:43.young woman must be many things. Kind, well read and accomplished.

:21:44. > :21:46.But to survive in the world as we know it, she will need other

:21:47. > :22:01.qualities. It is pride and prejudice as we know

:22:02. > :22:09.and love it, but how will that story change? How will the characters

:22:10. > :22:16.differ if there is a zombie apocalypse? It began with the black

:22:17. > :22:26.plague. Within weeks, the dead began to rise. This cannot be. The Pride

:22:27. > :22:33.and Prejudice story stays intact, but it is heightened in this zombie

:22:34. > :22:48.world. It is basically Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

:22:49. > :22:56.Jane Austin has a great sense of humour, and it is girl power. I

:22:57. > :23:04.think she would fully approve. I shall never really wish my sword for

:23:05. > :23:13.a ring. It is great to see five women get up and kick the zombies'

:23:14. > :23:19.as. You don't feel like you have sacrificed Austin the zombies, you

:23:20. > :23:25.feel like it has come together perfectly, and you think maybe we

:23:26. > :23:36.could do this more. My daughter is in training for battle. But that

:23:37. > :23:37.again is Jane Austin, it says her voice was that strong that it still

:23:38. > :23:59.resonates. That person certainly finished. What

:24:00. > :24:04.you think? There were elements I loved, because I am a Jane Austin

:24:05. > :24:08.puritan, so when the sexual tension normally in adaptations is expressed

:24:09. > :24:13.through dancing, it was a treat to see it done through fighting, that

:24:14. > :24:16.fantastic proposal scene between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy, and Sam

:24:17. > :24:22.Riley as Mr Darcy, although I wish he was so gravelly, I still kind of

:24:23. > :24:28.wood. I love the way they fought out this huge argument, and I think her

:24:29. > :24:33.breast nearly pops out at one point, and I think it is very hot and sexy.

:24:34. > :24:39.If Jane Austin is missing anything, it is raunchy dress. If they are

:24:40. > :24:44.going to make this, put it in, but who is this for? I don't know who

:24:45. > :24:49.will actively wants to go out and see this. Young boys for the

:24:50. > :24:53.zombies? It is not scary enough. And the Jane Austin lovers... Danny

:24:54. > :24:59.doesn't look like he will be first in line. Look at that face. I think

:25:00. > :25:03.it is far and easier, because they are the only people who will keep

:25:04. > :25:09.coming back to the central gag which is, as they kept saying, even in a

:25:10. > :25:15.two-minute clip, Pride and Prejudice but with zombies! You see that joke

:25:16. > :25:24.hammered home time and time again, and it is explained very eloquently

:25:25. > :25:27.in the credit sequence, and then 90 seconds, the film peaks, and you

:25:28. > :25:31.could pop off at that point. Don't you find all very beautiful to look

:25:32. > :25:37.at? There were certain scenes, normally in Jane Austin, they go off

:25:38. > :25:45.to a lovely dance, but instead they have guns and Daggers. Again, I am a

:25:46. > :25:51.middle-aged bloke, but is that girl power? The men appearing up their

:25:52. > :25:56.skirts! It makes it a different kind of watch. I love the fight scenes.

:25:57. > :26:03.Girl on girl fight scenes are so rare to see not sexualised. Sexy

:26:04. > :26:07.fighting! Yes they are sisters, so they can't make it sexualised, it is

:26:08. > :26:11.an territory, and I think that worked nicely, and I was just a big

:26:12. > :26:15.fan of the fight scenes, not so much of the rest of the acting, though. I

:26:16. > :26:20.thought it was weak. But talk about Matt Smith, because he is the best

:26:21. > :26:27.thing in this film by a distance. He was in Ryan Gosling's Lost River. I

:26:28. > :26:38.think only me and Ryan Gosling like that. I liked it! He plays the

:26:39. > :26:42.parson, and... He is absolutely the Comic Relief, and it is much needed

:26:43. > :26:52.in this. Needs to be a bit lighter if anything. He has the spirit of

:26:53. > :27:03.carry -- Carry On. Film of the week? Deadpool. Zoolander 2.

:27:04. > :27:08.Playing us out tonight is a new look at High Rise, JG Ballard's dystopian

:27:09. > :27:19.For all its inconveniences, he was satisfied with life in the
