:00:35. > :00:40.review on BBC news. We will go through this week's cinema releases.

:00:40. > :00:50.What is on this week? We have Robert Downey Jnr getting back into

:00:50. > :00:51.

:00:51. > :00:59.the iron suit for film'. We have a Jack Black Comedy studying check

:00:59. > :01:06.back in 'Bernie'. We have 'The Look Of Love', Steve Coogan plays the

:01:06. > :01:14.former king of Soho. Let's start with 'Ironman 3'. Have you seen

:01:15. > :01:22.either of the other one's? At the beginning of iron man did you see

:01:22. > :01:26.the Avengers assembled. At the end of the Avengers assemble, he saves

:01:27. > :01:32.the world. A vortex goes through into another dimension. This has

:01:32. > :01:37.now left to him with their dreams. This is not surprising. He is now

:01:37. > :01:43.attempting to settle down with Gwyneth Paltrow, who was originally

:01:43. > :01:47.the Secretary, she is his love interest. Out there in the world

:01:47. > :01:57.there is an evil man who is threatening the world played by Ben

:01:57. > :01:58.

:01:58. > :02:04.Kingsley to whom he offers an ultimatum. His -- here is a holiday

:02:04. > :02:09.greeting I wanted to send to the Mandarin. My name is Tony and I am

:02:09. > :02:15.not afraid of you. I know you are a coward I have decided that you just

:02:15. > :02:21.died. I will come and get the body. There is no politics, just good

:02:21. > :02:29.old-fashioned revenge. There is no Pentagon, just you and me. Here is

:02:29. > :02:39.my home address. 10880 Malibu point. I will leave the door unlocked.

:02:39. > :02:44.

:02:44. > :02:49.That is what you want? surprisingly, having issued the

:02:49. > :02:54.ultimatum, they come looking for him. They find his house and he is

:02:54. > :02:59.trying to hide and rebuild himself meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow is safe

:02:59. > :03:03.but not really. And there is a search for the Mandarin. It is

:03:03. > :03:13.directed by Shane Black who previously worked with Robert

:03:13. > :03:14.

:03:14. > :03:20.as a screenwriter. He had a line in very quotable often very rude one-

:03:20. > :03:27.liners. He is a very sharp screenwriter. The thing with the

:03:27. > :03:34.series is the central character is known for doing these very sharp

:03:34. > :03:37.self- aggrandising one-liners. That is a marriage made in heaven. All

:03:37. > :03:44.this stuff is to do with Robert Downey playing the character in

:03:44. > :03:49.that way. You also have to have lot of special effects. The suit now

:03:49. > :03:53.works under his command. Bits of the suit flying on to him as he

:03:53. > :03:58.commands of. He has a range of other suits which work without

:03:58. > :04:02.people inside them. As the drama progresses, we move towards a

:04:02. > :04:09.Transformers type showdown which is the least interesting part of the

:04:09. > :04:15.film. It also has a good villain in the part of Ben Kingsley. He shows

:04:15. > :04:22.a very great sense of humour about his own reputation. It is one of

:04:22. > :04:31.those films when you think you see him, what is that voice he is

:04:31. > :04:36.doing? As far as to be a hero movies are concerned, it was one of

:04:36. > :04:40.the better. It is messy and scrappy and too long, and for the finale

:04:41. > :04:45.when it is robots hitting each other there is a lack of interest.

:04:45. > :04:51.But the Ironman series has proven to be more interesting than any of

:04:51. > :04:56.us expected. It is well directed and has a good script. And Robert

:04:56. > :05:02.Downey Jnr it is good at doing that self-confident and sassy one liner

:05:02. > :05:06.stop. This works well with this particular directive. Moving on to

:05:06. > :05:12.'Bernie'. I am intrigued by the jack Black Thing. There is

:05:12. > :05:17.something about him? In the case of Jack Black when he is properly

:05:17. > :05:21.directed he is a very good actor. You have a story about a mortician

:05:21. > :05:26.who befriends a lady played by Shirley Maclean who is not popular

:05:26. > :05:34.with the community. They have become very close, almost unusually

:05:34. > :05:39.close. Then his thoughts turn to murder. The interesting thing is,

:05:39. > :05:44.when you watch a week Jack black movie you expect this some kind of

:05:44. > :05:48.comedic turn. Jack Black during a larger than life, loud and

:05:48. > :05:54.aggressive comedy. With this you get something different which is

:05:54. > :05:58.home raining everything an playing a strangely up tight and precise

:05:58. > :06:06.character and behind his smile, has an unexpected darkness lurking.

:06:06. > :06:12.This film is based on a real-life case. It takes a lot of risk to

:06:12. > :06:16.tell their story which is a more that black comedy about death. This

:06:16. > :06:22.story is fictionalised but broad and comedic. That works and it

:06:22. > :06:27.works because the director can get the best out of Jack Black. We have

:06:27. > :06:33.seen too many Jack black films where he is the annoying Jack Black.

:06:33. > :06:39.This is a strange and creepy can't quite get the measure of Jack Black.

:06:39. > :06:44.That is a small movie but it works because of his performance. 'The

:06:44. > :06:51.Look Of Love' has had a lot of publicity during the past weeks. It

:06:51. > :06:57.is a biopic. It is not a standard biopic. That is the story of Paul

:06:58. > :07:03.II was the king of Soho. He was the richest man in Britain and a huge

:07:03. > :07:13.property magnate. He made his money with sexy shows and then became a

:07:13. > :07:14.

:07:14. > :07:21.property magnate. Would you like a seat at the table? 12,000 for you.

:07:21. > :07:25.I tried to do a magazine in the 60s. We will persuade readers that by

:07:25. > :07:29.buying the magazine they are buying into your world, the world of

:07:29. > :07:34.cigars and exotic holidays and luxury cars. This will take the

:07:34. > :07:43.world of Paul Raymond out to the nation. They will be lots of Gill's

:07:43. > :07:50.beautifully photographed. We have as the face of the magazine, a hot

:07:50. > :07:55.female car tester and she road tests the men of Europe. When

:07:55. > :08:02.people were first talking about this, you thought Steve Coogan is

:08:02. > :08:08.very clever, casting him as Paul Raymond is very clever. Because

:08:08. > :08:16.there is a touch of Alan Partridge about him. That is a very

:08:16. > :08:21.affectionate portrait. There is a tragic story of his daughter. One

:08:21. > :08:26.of the problems of the film, and there is much to enjoy, Steve

:08:27. > :08:32.Coogan's performance is very funny. It is clearly made with enthusiasm.

:08:32. > :08:38.But it never gets below the skin of the central character. It seems to

:08:38. > :08:43.be scared to delve into the seedier and dark side. If you have that

:08:44. > :08:48.kind of tragic narrative arc as the central backbone, you do end up

:08:48. > :08:54.wondering why the rest of the film was based on the surface. That is

:08:54. > :09:02.not to say the surface is not good. There is a lot of wig wearing and

:09:02. > :09:05.stick-on moustache wearing and fun period detail. I wanted more

:09:06. > :09:11.investigation of the characters and more investigation of the livestock.

:09:11. > :09:18.I interviewed Paul Raymond and he was not as funny as the Steve

:09:18. > :09:24.Coogan character. But this plays more is a broad comedy. You said

:09:24. > :09:30.biopic. It is not really a biopic that is like a cabaret act based on

:09:30. > :09:35.the life of Paul Raymond, which is OK but sits slightly oddly with the

:09:35. > :09:39.tragic story and the fact that it is such a controversial area,

:09:39. > :09:43.nudity and the obscene Publications Act, you want more depth. You get a

:09:44. > :09:51.lot of weeks and have moustaches and very broad Alan Partridge

:09:51. > :09:56.humour but not much else. Is that not film of the week? The film I

:09:56. > :10:05.really like at the moment is 'Love Is All you Need'. It is a Pierce

:10:05. > :10:12.Brosnan movie. It has been described as mum and me without

:10:12. > :10:18.songs as done by his then trooper who brought us films like anti-

:10:18. > :10:23.Christ. This is a romantic comedy made with real people. If you took

:10:23. > :10:29.the romantic, the structure and said this is fine, what if this is

:10:29. > :10:35.real people with real problems. went in been very cynical having

:10:35. > :10:40.seen the post and thought really? Became a out a convert to Pierce

:10:40. > :10:46.Brosnan and thought it was my money without songs and it works really

:10:46. > :10:54.well. You have sold it to me. If I do not want to go out, what about

:10:54. > :10:59.DVDs? There is pitch perfect. This is a really funny snappy teen

:10:59. > :11:03.comedy about the world of competitive aka palace singing. It

:11:03. > :11:09.does not sound like the easiest sell, really funny and smart and a

:11:09. > :11:17.good cast. Lots of bits and mean kill stop humour. Done with real
