:00:00. > 3:59:59Cardiff ahead of second round of Six Nations matches. That is on sports

:00:00. > :00:38.day. Now time for the Film Review. We have Deadpool, an anti-superhero

:00:39. > :00:44.romp. We have A Bigger Splash. Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes and a

:00:45. > :00:54.debut from Steven Fingleton. Deadpool. Marvel comics. Yes

:00:55. > :00:58.self-ref rential. Ryan Reynolds is the avenger character who is good

:00:59. > :01:05.looking, but lost his good looks through a mutation that made him

:01:06. > :01:12.indestructible. The film exists on the fringes of the X-Men universe

:01:13. > :01:16.and it is breaking the fourth wall and making jokes about where it

:01:17. > :01:25.comes from. It is a 15-rated film. It is not a film for clips. Not a

:01:26. > :01:34.film for kids. Here is one clip we can show.

:01:35. > :01:52.Go get some. Wait for it. Superhero landing. That is hard on your knees.

:01:53. > :02:00.Impractical. You're a lovely lady, but I'm saving mooims for Francis. I

:02:01. > :02:08.prefer not to hit a woman... I mean... That is why I brought her?

:02:09. > :02:22.Oh no, finish your tweet. Give us a second. Hashtag it. Go get her,

:02:23. > :02:27.tiger. Twit we are superheroes. I laughed all the way through and

:02:28. > :02:36.there is a lot of dialogue, I speak as somebody who still likes Viz

:02:37. > :02:45.comic and a lot is like Roger Melee man on the telly talk. It is not a

:02:46. > :02:49.patch on Kick Ass. But it is more consistently funny in a guilty

:02:50. > :02:57.pleasure way than many of the alleged comedies. I laughed all the

:02:58. > :03:03.way through, that is more that can be said of Zoolander Two. People who

:03:04. > :03:07.don't like it really don't like it. They think it has a smugness to it.

:03:08. > :03:11.But it has the strength of its convictions and has in the central

:03:12. > :03:20.character, somebody who is good at doing that motor mouth potty mouthed

:03:21. > :03:24.sweary comic book violence, with an offhand panache and also oddly it

:03:25. > :03:29.does not run out. You would expect after half an hour of hearing this

:03:30. > :03:36.guy constantly doing the baerpt it would be enough. But I laughed all

:03:37. > :03:42.the way through. -- banter. I can think of few comedies where that is

:03:43. > :03:48.the case. I'm a big fan of juvenile humour. It is not kid-friendly

:03:49. > :03:54.and... Juvenile but not kid-friendly. Exactly. A Bigger

:03:55. > :04:01.Splash, a David Hockney painting some will think. Yes and the title

:04:02. > :04:09.nods to that. It is a remake of la Piscine. Tilda Swinton is a rock

:04:10. > :04:15.diva who has lost her voice and he is on this Italian island and into

:04:16. > :04:19.the island comes Ralph Fiennes as her old flame who, talks constantly

:04:20. > :04:23.and brings with him a young woman who may or may not be his recently

:04:24. > :04:29.discovered daughter. He is a force of nature. He wants to get back with

:04:30. > :04:35.Tilda Swinton's character and you get this drama of four people with

:04:36. > :04:40.broiling interpersonal tension in which all the characters are in

:04:41. > :04:44.various ways hellish and annoying and the director takes cruel fun in

:04:45. > :04:53.watching them tear each other apart. I think the performances are

:04:54. > :04:57.terrific. Ralph Fiennes lip sinking and dancing to the rolling stones is

:04:58. > :05:02.something you won't forget. It takes a lot of patience to spend a lot of

:05:03. > :05:06.time in the company of these people. If they were at a party, you would

:05:07. > :05:13.leave. With Ralph Fiennes it is difficult to believe, he is one of

:05:14. > :05:18.genius actors. Well he is playing a character that does not stop

:05:19. > :05:24.talking. And after a while, it becomes grating. It is meant to be

:05:25. > :05:30.grating as the tensions broil up. There is a Brian Jones story going

:05:31. > :05:37.on and the way the intrigues play out. It is a well made film. But it

:05:38. > :05:45.is about people who are hard to share a confined space with. The

:05:46. > :05:55.director's other film I thought at the end was tedious. The

:05:56. > :06:01.Survivalalist. -- The Survivalist. It is set in a nonspecific future

:06:02. > :06:06.where mankind has declined and we are now basically what we think of

:06:07. > :06:12.as civilised society has fallen apart, although nature has

:06:13. > :06:19.flourished. It is not where everything is burnt out. We meet a

:06:20. > :06:27.lone figure. Into his world come two woman. A mother and daughter. And

:06:28. > :06:32.they form an uneasy alliance in which they distrust each other and

:06:33. > :06:37.at any moment their actions may turn to violence. You're never sure how

:06:38. > :06:41.much any of them can be trusted. Made on a small budgets and one of

:06:42. > :06:50.the most exciting bits of film making I have seen for long time.

:06:51. > :07:01.Here is a clip. She likes you. Do you like her? Would you like to keep

:07:02. > :07:11.seeing her? It is small for a reason. But we still found it. We

:07:12. > :07:22.could clear more land. More hands to manage it. I have managed so far.

:07:23. > :07:31.You have been lucky. It wasn't luck. The film has been nom named for a --

:07:32. > :07:38.nominated for a BAFTA. It is between The Stalker and The Beguiled. I

:07:39. > :07:45.think what impresses me is it creates a world, without recourse to

:07:46. > :07:51.special effects and so much dialogue. A lot of what you know

:07:52. > :07:55.about the people is to do with their physicality and the actions. There

:07:56. > :08:03.are few moments where people explain the plot and there is a terrific

:08:04. > :08:08.look. Demonstrates if a director has a clear vision, it is possible to

:08:09. > :08:12.tell a story that is complicated with very sort of simple resources.

:08:13. > :08:17.A terrific performances from all three of the main players and also a

:08:18. > :08:23.film which I have to say it is not for everyone, its is very harsh and

:08:24. > :08:27.it has a brutal view existence. Everybody who has survived long

:08:28. > :08:30.enough to be in this drama has blood on their hands. The only people who

:08:31. > :08:36.are around are people who have blood on their hands. I thought it was

:08:37. > :08:40.very impress and very gripping. You are a fan of Northern Ireland in

:08:41. > :08:48.general and Northern Ireland culturally is hot now in all kinds

:08:49. > :08:52.of ways. Yes, a Derry-born film maker who has done just a great job.

:08:53. > :08:59.It is part of location work is good and there is a lot of talent. This

:09:00. > :09:03.is the kind of film, the sort of film making when somebody has a

:09:04. > :09:15.great idea of what they want to do and set themselves strict pe ram --

:09:16. > :09:23.pe ram terse. -- parameters. But it is unforgiving. It is a bleak movie.

:09:24. > :09:32.I have seen The Road. The Road is a laugh riot in comparison! Now, your

:09:33. > :09:36.Icelandic knitwear product placement The Rams is your film of week. We

:09:37. > :09:46.reviewed this last week and I wants you to see it. It is a trajy comedy

:09:47. > :09:52.that is about two brothers in Iceland raising sheep and they're

:09:53. > :09:57.threatened by an outbreak of scrapie and can they pull together. I

:09:58. > :10:03.thought it was really impressive. I went in knowing nothing about it.

:10:04. > :10:09.Terrific performances. Utterly dead pan, things where you don't know

:10:10. > :10:14.where to laugh or cry. A lovely sound track and well worth seeing on

:10:15. > :10:23.the big screen. The only reason I do this is we get to cover Deadpool and

:10:24. > :10:34.an Icelandic movie about sheep. I hope people seek out Rams. Crimson

:10:35. > :10:40.Peak is your DVD choice. This is open to lukewarm response, but I

:10:41. > :10:45.think is great and a full blooded gothic fantasy and wonderfully

:10:46. > :10:49.designed and the story relates to Poe and the first time I watched it

:10:50. > :10:57.I thought it was really ripe and enjoy yavenlt I have seen --

:10:58. > :11:05.enjoyable. I thought the poster looks terrible. It is not The Adams

:11:06. > :11:13.family. That is right. Given the films are hard to sell, because

:11:14. > :11:18.they're difficult and how you design a movie like Pan's labyrinth. That

:11:19. > :11:30.image you're seeing, it is not that film, it is a much better film. And

:11:31. > :11:33.you will finds more news and reviewses online. That is foirt this

:11:34. > :11:35.week. Thank I -- that is fit for this week thank you watching and

:11:36. > :11:38.goodbye.
