:00:00. > :00:00.could be crowned champion were Lewis Hamilton to slip up. That is all to

:00:00. > :00:23.come on sports day at 630. Now it is time for the film review.

:00:24. > :00:31.Hello and welcome to the film review on BBC News, here to look through it

:00:32. > :00:36.with me at Hammersmith. Layla we have got Doctor strange, the new

:00:37. > :00:43.Marvel film, Benedict, church pays Doctor strange. Then we are going to

:00:44. > :00:47.Britain for a road trip comedy starring Laura Carmichael from

:00:48. > :00:52.Darlington Abbey, it is called Burn, burn, burn. Then finally we are off

:00:53. > :01:00.to South Korea for an Halloween horror, zombies on a train. There is

:01:01. > :01:06.a change of pace for Benedict Cumberbatch and Dominic strange.

:01:07. > :01:10.Yes, it is something common with the characters we have said before, he

:01:11. > :01:14.is an arrogant neurosurgeon, knows better than everybody else, he

:01:15. > :01:18.perhaps doesn't have so many airs and graces, reminds you of Sherlock

:01:19. > :01:24.and Allen during. He likes fast cars and he has an amazing array of fast

:01:25. > :01:28.watches, and he comes a cropper, when he has a car accident from

:01:29. > :01:33.driving too fast and he goes to seek new age help from the ancient one

:01:34. > :01:36.played by Tilda Swinton when he runs out of option by conventional

:01:37. > :01:44.medicine and there he finds a whole new world. I spent my last dollar

:01:45. > :01:49.getting here, one-way ticket and you are talking to me about healing

:01:50. > :01:53.through belief. You are a man looking at the world through a

:01:54. > :01:57.keyhole, you have tried your whole life to through the keyhole and now

:01:58. > :02:03.on hearing that it can be widened in ways you can't imagine, you reject

:02:04. > :02:06.the possibility. I because I do not believe in fairy tales about chakras

:02:07. > :02:13.or chakras or energy or the power of belief. There is no such thing. We

:02:14. > :02:19.are made of matter and nothing more. Just another tiny moment respect

:02:20. > :02:22.within an indifferent universe. You think too little of yourself stop

:02:23. > :02:40.you think you see through me but I see through you.

:02:41. > :02:54.What did you just do to me? I push all astral form out of your physical

:02:55. > :02:59.form. War is in the tea? Just T. How does it work, you can see Mr nasty

:03:00. > :03:02.character but I suppose if he did not believe that your astral thing

:03:03. > :03:08.could not be thrown out of your physical body he wouldn't go to that

:03:09. > :03:16.Doctor in the first place? It is a fantasy film but it is nice to see

:03:17. > :03:22.his arrogant character happen. You have two suspended, but that was a

:03:23. > :03:26.time and 1960s when psychedelia was invoked, that is a time when 3-D

:03:27. > :03:30.comes into its own. I'm not ready a fan of 3-D but we see some amazing

:03:31. > :03:35.other worlds and fractals and it gets trippy, the visual effects are

:03:36. > :03:38.second to none. Some people have compared it to, in the special

:03:39. > :03:43.effects to inception and the way that things get rolled up, that for

:03:44. > :03:46.me was the best bit of inception, just extraordinary? It is the best

:03:47. > :04:05.bit to be honest, watching these buildings folding

:04:06. > :04:07.into each other, pulled into a kaleidoscopic fashion, things have

:04:08. > :04:09.moved on, so it really is visually splendid. A little bit too much

:04:10. > :04:12.mumbo jumbo and waffle, there are some really long monologues and then

:04:13. > :04:15.they wake you up with a quip at the end. There was a bit of that, in

:04:16. > :04:18.inception to I seem to remember. Burn, burn, burn seems terrific.

:04:19. > :04:21.Yes, it is a UK road trip, I really like one of these charming films

:04:22. > :04:26.that took me by surprise, the debut director does a tremendous job,

:04:27. > :04:30.along with the writer. Laura Carmichael and Chloe Perry star as

:04:31. > :04:34.two women on their 20s, who go on a road trip around the UK, their

:04:35. > :04:37.friend has passed away and he has left his ashes to them on the

:04:38. > :04:50.understanding that they will take his ashes

:04:51. > :04:53.around the UK and stop that significant points, and play a

:04:54. > :04:56.little video of him, talking about why this is significant. He is quite

:04:57. > :04:58.a humorous character. Not only does humour come from that but also

:04:59. > :05:00.interactions, classic road trip style. And Laura Carmichael from

:05:01. > :05:03.downtown happy turns out to be funny, and somebody else from green

:05:04. > :05:07.Wing is in this. This is hilarious. He is a wise old hippie who seems

:05:08. > :05:14.wonderful after a few ciders but terrible with a hangover. There is a

:05:15. > :05:19.theme to these films, tea and cider. It is a gentle English Thelma and

:05:20. > :05:28.Louise? Thelma and Louise although with the generation now. It is ready

:05:29. > :05:33.sharp and funny. And this one? This is a really big hit in South Korea,

:05:34. > :05:38.it is a zombie horror movie, zombies on a train, simple as that, I liked

:05:39. > :05:41.it because it is nearly all from the point of view of two central

:05:42. > :05:44.characters, you have a work colleague Father who is getting

:05:45. > :05:49.divorced and his young daughter is very unhappy, she wants to see her

:05:50. > :05:54.mother, on her birthday so he says OK I will take you on the birthday

:05:55. > :05:56.to another town, and this will be a birthday not to forget because a

:05:57. > :06:46.zombie outbreak comes along. (ATMOSPHERIC NOISES) (SCREAMING)

:06:47. > :07:07.(SCREAMING) (SCREAMING) (ATMOSPHERIC NOISES) (SCREAMING) (SCREAMING) Wow,

:07:08. > :07:12.I liked the idea of people being trapped on the train. I have been on

:07:13. > :07:16.some rough train journeys but... There is a lot of attention, you

:07:17. > :07:20.have the disaster movie format where a certain group of people in an

:07:21. > :07:24.enclosed space, they come together as they had to deal with an

:07:25. > :07:28.emergency. It focuses more on the human reactions than the zombies

:07:29. > :07:33.themselves, it is about how people focus on a crisis and how selfish

:07:34. > :07:36.this probably isn't the way to go and it is promoting kindness and

:07:37. > :07:41.group activities and understanding, that, there are things which are a

:07:42. > :07:46.bit over the top. The selfish guy, you never how that will end up.

:07:47. > :07:50.There is a pregnant woman, and there is the cute kid and the baseball

:07:51. > :07:56.team. But do you know what, it is re-well done and suspenseful. And

:07:57. > :08:00.you can also just see, the way it is done, because South Korea is quite

:08:01. > :08:06.clinical and clean and so on, it is a very different media from the

:08:07. > :08:11.horror films which have the Gothic thing. Guess it is quite a light and

:08:12. > :08:15.bright rush-hour horror but no less gripping. The best Korean film that

:08:16. > :08:21.you would see all week? I would think so. The hunt for the world of

:08:22. > :08:26.people, is your favourite. Great Kiwi comedy drama, action thrown in,

:08:27. > :08:31.Sam Neill stars as the grumpy foster uncle, he ends up in the wilderness

:08:32. > :08:34.with his young charge. Odd couple in the wilderness, and these two are

:08:35. > :08:39.very different, they learn how to get along, but it is so funny, the

:08:40. > :08:43.director does a terrific job and he has summoned some of the humour.

:08:44. > :08:48.From the flight of the Concordes. Rather quirky. I think the thing

:08:49. > :08:54.that is very, very funny about this is the child protection services

:08:55. > :08:57.lady who is this complete monster throughout the whole film? She has

:08:58. > :09:04.got a slightly more surreal edge, they have this thing about her being

:09:05. > :09:10.the terminator. She appears everywhere going no child left

:09:11. > :09:18.behind. But the relationship, is terrific. He is the sort of slightly

:09:19. > :09:22.podgy, very un-fit city kid who likes hip-hop music and he ends up

:09:23. > :09:31.in the middle of a field, it is the bush. But it is a very, very clever

:09:32. > :09:35.relationship with a clever script. I loved it, it is still going, it is a

:09:36. > :09:42.good group movie, a nice want to see with the crowd. It won the audience

:09:43. > :09:49.award in Edinburgh. And your DVD of the week is the commune? This is set

:09:50. > :09:54.in 1970s Copenhagen. This is slightly lighter than some of his

:09:55. > :09:58.other work body starts two fantastic actors, who play a couple who have

:09:59. > :10:02.decided to open up the home to make a commune and it is about the group

:10:03. > :10:07.dynamic and the consequences of living as a group. It is not as much

:10:08. > :10:10.bed-hopping as you might imagine but it start as quite light and fun,

:10:11. > :10:25.with a jaunty soundtrack and it becomes more

:10:26. > :10:27.poignant and interesting as the cracks begin to show. The cracks

:10:28. > :10:29.begin to show and people assert their personalities. Yes and the

:10:30. > :10:31.permissiveness that it ushers in has consequences on the marriages. And

:10:32. > :10:33.another interested footnote is that Denmark was voted the happiest

:10:34. > :10:37.country on earth with Britain coming in in 23rd, I'm not sure where the

:10:38. > :10:42.commune comes in. Thank you very much. A quick reminder, you will

:10:43. > :10:50.find more film reviews and news including all of our previous shows.

:10:51. > :11:02.That is it for this week, thanks for watching, enjoy the news. Goodbye.
