:00:00. > :00:00.this weekend. That is all coming up on sports day.

:00:00. > :00:22.Hello and welcome to The Film Review on BBC News.

:00:23. > :00:25.To take us through this week's cinema releases is James King.

:00:26. > :00:44.There has been murdered in the East End in the Limehouse Golem. A New

:00:45. > :00:49.Jersey girl thing she is the unlikely saviour of hip-hop in Patti

:00:50. > :00:57.Cakes. And he said I'll be back and now he is. Big Arnie returns in the

:00:58. > :01:04.3D rerelease of Terminator 2. He did warn us, didn't he? We will save the

:01:05. > :01:11.best for last. Bill Nighy yours a big draw. What did you make of it?

:01:12. > :01:16.Yelling at a big fan. This is set in Victorian era London. A big fan. A

:01:17. > :01:20.thriller about a murderer on the loose. A police detective who is

:01:21. > :01:27.charged with tracking down the serial killer, the Limehouse Golem.

:01:28. > :01:31.Here he is in action. At Ratcliffe Highway

:01:32. > :01:56.who slaughtered a household. The previous week

:01:57. > :01:57.a prostitute, Alice Stanton. Laid upon the open pages

:01:58. > :02:36.of a book on Jewish I found it very gripping. It was

:02:37. > :02:44.gory in parts. It has a thriller rather than a horror film. For me it

:02:45. > :02:47.was all about the past. To be honest, I would watch any of those

:02:48. > :02:54.reactors in anything anyway. Three of my favourite actors. Olivia Cook

:02:55. > :02:58.is good as is Douglas Booth. What is going on in this film is an

:02:59. > :03:03.undercurrent to the murder story, that thriller. Really it is a film

:03:04. > :03:08.about performance. It is about how performance was so important at this

:03:09. > :03:10.time in the musicals but also just people in their everyday lives.

:03:11. > :03:17.There are people in this movie you are putting on a mask every day and

:03:18. > :03:22.playing roles. Then there is the Golem himself, the serial killer the

:03:23. > :03:27.warped performer who wants recognition. When you have that

:03:28. > :03:31.undercurrent running through the movie, it gives the cast something

:03:32. > :03:39.very juicy to sink their teeth into. It is a very seductive world. Very

:03:40. > :03:45.rich, very seductive. That is a great thing to watch at the movies

:03:46. > :03:50.as well. Jane Goldman adapted the book originally. She has done a very

:03:51. > :03:56.good job. There is a lot of plot going on in there. She has done a

:03:57. > :03:59.great job of streamlining it, drip feeding information. The penny

:04:00. > :04:12.dropped just the right moment. I was big fan. Patti Cakes, didn't it have

:04:13. > :04:16.a lot of praise at Sundance? Sometimes you get films which cross

:04:17. > :04:22.over. Fox would love this to be a big crossover. It is about a girl

:04:23. > :04:29.from New Jersey who leads a very downbeat life. Dreams of making it

:04:30. > :04:37.big in the rap world, in hip-hop. Danielle MacDonald, an Australian

:04:38. > :04:41.actress actually. It is very funny and charming but it does not quite

:04:42. > :04:47.know what it wants to be. Sometimes it is very kitsch and camp. Reminded

:04:48. > :04:52.me a bit of hairspray. That is a great film, great fun. Sometimes

:04:53. > :04:59.this film then gets serious and wants to make a ul and social points

:05:00. > :05:05.and goes eight miles and Eminem, the opposite route. The problem is it is

:05:06. > :05:10.six of one and half a dozen of the other. The music is great. I like

:05:11. > :05:17.that it is quite subversive, but in this overweight white girl in the

:05:18. > :05:23.world of hip-hop. Shaking things up quite a lot. I'm not sure whether it

:05:24. > :05:28.quite knows whether it is long, deep or serious. It is an unsettled mix

:05:29. > :05:34.of the two. It does not quite know what it wants to be that she is one

:05:35. > :05:40.to watch? Very charismatic. Look out for her. I said we were to save the

:05:41. > :05:47.best till last. Terminator 2, so good they have brought it back

:05:48. > :05:51.decades later. 26 years later, in 3D. Someone would say

:05:52. > :05:56.Schwarzenegger's acting was barely into dealer to learn 3D. James

:05:57. > :06:00.Cameron, the director who had success with Titanic has the same

:06:01. > :06:02.team to do the same thing with Terminator 2. Let's have look at a

:06:03. > :06:08.classic scene. You've got to listen

:06:09. > :06:18.to the way people talk. If someone comes up

:06:19. > :06:27.to you with an attitude, And if you want to shine them on,

:06:28. > :06:33.it's hasta la vista, baby. Or if someone gets upset,

:06:34. > :06:56.you say chill out. I had almost forgotten that phrase

:06:57. > :07:01.but now it is back to haunt us all. Is there a point to this question he

:07:02. > :07:08.has reworked it for the bid is all in 3D. Do we need to see it? I saw

:07:09. > :07:13.it when it came out on the big screen. I waited a long time that

:07:14. > :07:21.just seeing it on the big screen, forget that the reedy element. It is

:07:22. > :07:31.amazing. It is this movie of awesome sentences. -- the 3D element. It is

:07:32. > :07:36.great to see one of the great action heroes of all time on the screen.

:07:37. > :07:41.Maybe you have never seen it on the big screen for that this is why it

:07:42. > :07:45.is a great opportunity to catch up with Terminator 2. Some of the

:07:46. > :07:50.special effects do look a little bit creepy now. James Cameron has

:07:51. > :07:54.admitted that. The movie has such power, it is so gutsy, so full of

:07:55. > :08:04.bravado that it does still pack a punch. He may be very young and not

:08:05. > :08:06.even born when it was first released. Maybe there is a whole new

:08:07. > :08:10.audience for that. Will they look and think it is all dated will stop

:08:11. > :08:14.in 1991 this was the most expensive film of all time for the even know

:08:15. > :08:17.it is old now it still holds up because they put so much into it

:08:18. > :08:22.when it first came out. Worth having a look at if you have never seen it

:08:23. > :08:30.before. You forget how expensive it was. Best out? Detroit. A tough

:08:31. > :08:35.movie to watch. Based on true events in Detroit 50 years ago actually.

:08:36. > :08:40.Fatal events of one night in the city. It is doing OK business in the

:08:41. > :08:46.UK at the moment. Like to see it do better. Perhaps we have had our fill

:08:47. > :08:51.of intensity with Dunkirk. People just can't handle another tough,

:08:52. > :08:59.intense true story at the cinema. Is worth seeing. Look out for will

:09:00. > :09:03.Poulter who is fantastic. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow. He was married

:09:04. > :09:09.to James Cameron when he did Terminator 2. I hope it does better

:09:10. > :09:15.at the cinema. It deserves to. Absolutely. DVD... Something to lift

:09:16. > :09:21.us. If you don't want all the dark and bleak. Something very funny and

:09:22. > :09:28.silly to lift us all. This is a comedy about an out of work actor he

:09:29. > :09:33.was big in a TV detective show in the 80s. Then he gets a call from

:09:34. > :09:37.the police saying there is a criminal on the loose who is

:09:38. > :09:41.obsessed with the old TV show, Mindhorn. We needed to get back into

:09:42. > :09:47.gather and help us solve the crime. Some very funny gags in this about

:09:48. > :09:53.acting and TV detectives. Lots of references to John nettles. Lots of

:09:54. > :10:02.references about Bergerac. Done with affection. Steve Coogan is involved

:10:03. > :10:06.in it. A producer and co-star. Elements of Alan Partridge. He was

:10:07. > :10:11.another minor celebrity who was down on his luck. Even though you are

:10:12. > :10:16.laughing, it is done with respect for the genres it is taking the make

:10:17. > :10:20.out. That is the key. Some people felt it was almost like a series of

:10:21. > :10:27.TV sketches sewn together to make a film. The" it are an absolute Joy. I

:10:28. > :10:34.did not know that bit. That is a good tip. That will lift us all.

:10:35. > :10:37.Thank you. Lovely to see you. Thank you very much, James King, with all

:10:38. > :10:40.your pointers as to what you might like to see this week.

:10:41. > :10:47.Enjoy whatever you might see over the next few days.

:10:48. > :11:05.Plenty of sunny spell is out there today. Some of us have had

:11:06. > :11:07.threatening skies. This picture from North Yorkshire. Stretching down

:11:08. > :11:08.into East
