0:00:16 > 0:00:21Hello and welcome to the One Show with Matt Baker...
0:00:21 > 0:00:24And there's no sofa reshuffle for us - Michelle remains in post
0:00:24 > 0:00:26for the rest of the week.
0:00:26 > 0:00:30With Alex away in New Zealand. Congratulations on that!
0:00:30 > 0:00:31I'm not going anywhere!
0:00:31 > 0:00:34And as panto season draws to a close, we've managed to secure
0:00:34 > 0:00:37one of the country's best loved dames.
0:00:37 > 0:00:40Lets have a very warm welcome for...
0:00:40 > 0:00:42Dame Darcey Bussell!
0:00:42 > 0:00:48CHEERING AND APPLAUSE . Dane Darcey Bussell, how does that
0:00:48 > 0:00:55sound? This is probably the first time you've been introduced as Dame
0:00:55 > 0:01:01Darcey Bussell? At work I have a couple of mates who have called me
0:01:01 > 0:01:05Dame for a long time. They were a bit shocked when they said, my God,
0:01:05 > 0:01:11now it's official!You've been a regular on the Honours list for some
0:01:11 > 0:01:16time now. Congratulations on the CBE and OBE!The older version as it
0:01:16 > 0:01:25goes along!Your friends will have two start calling you baroness now!
0:01:25 > 0:01:31You are not the first Strictly judged to be, Dame. Craig is a Dame.
0:01:31 > 0:01:41Look at him there!He's been many Dames.Quite beautiful, great
0:01:41 > 0:01:46contouring and the cheekbones? Lovely. You see that even on the
0:01:46 > 0:01:51show on Strictly, contouring!Craig is not famous for his smiley face
0:01:51 > 0:01:55but this cheered us up when we saw it in the papers today. Above the
0:01:55 > 0:01:59skies of Cambridge. If you are the mysterious high-flyer responsible or
0:01:59 > 0:02:04think you know who the pilot is, please do get in touch and let us
0:02:04 > 0:02:08know!Definitely. Thanks for the hundreds who got in touch about the
0:02:08 > 0:02:11NHS yesterday. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we may have more
0:02:11 > 0:02:13news on that soon.
0:02:13 > 0:02:16Over the past few weeks the British weather has done its worst...
0:02:16 > 0:02:17If it's not been freezing temperatures, it's been
0:02:17 > 0:02:18storms Dylan and Eleanor.
0:02:18 > 0:02:21Joe's been looking at how our battered coastline is putting
0:02:21 > 0:02:25itself back in shape.
0:02:25 > 0:02:30Welcome to the new coastline of Cornwall, where last week there were
0:02:30 > 0:02:38sand dunes, now... There are sand cliffs.I've lived here nearly 50
0:02:38 > 0:02:42years, I've never seen anything like this in the whole of my life.
0:02:42 > 0:02:46The transformation of some of Cornwall's most beautiful beaches is
0:02:46 > 0:02:51down to the battering of Storm Eleanor last week. This professor
0:02:51 > 0:02:56has been studying these beaches for over a decade.I think the big
0:02:56 > 0:03:01difference between last week's storm and most storms was it was
0:03:01 > 0:03:06exceptionally large tide and waves, coincided exactly. Before the
0:03:06 > 0:03:10storms, the slope would have been quite steep but not vertical. As the
0:03:10 > 0:03:14tide rises and the waves get big, it starts wetting the bottom of the
0:03:14 > 0:03:18slopes and then it starts to fail, starts to collapse because of the
0:03:18 > 0:03:25weight of the sand on top.Somewhere else on to its owner found Cliff is
0:03:25 > 0:03:29Perranporth. Last year the programme came live from this beach. Today the
0:03:29 > 0:03:33manager is trying to rebuild it. Tom, you came back here, first day
0:03:33 > 0:03:38back after Christmas, what was this place like?A Brett Goode Rabat the
0:03:38 > 0:03:44front of the building about 20 foot down. Those bridges were out. We had
0:03:44 > 0:03:47about 70 boards down as we're doing a load of building at the moment,
0:03:47 > 0:03:50they weigh half a tonne each and we are still missing 12. There are some
0:03:50 > 0:03:57in the car park. All the way over there?Yes.What are you doing now,
0:03:57 > 0:04:01there are diggers around, what will you do to this cliff edge?Reinforce
0:04:01 > 0:04:10the sand, get the tractor up and then just gradually pull it out.
0:04:10 > 0:04:15Ten miles down the coast, part of this Sea Wall was also destroyed.
0:04:15 > 0:04:19The CE has undermined the foundation of the wall and then the wind blew
0:04:19 > 0:04:22it over because the wind was so strong and literally blew the wall
0:04:22 > 0:04:25over.My reaction was complete horror. The weather was more
0:04:25 > 0:04:29ferocious than you could have ever imagined.
0:04:29 > 0:04:34While some of these sand cliffs are a few feet high and a bit of fun,
0:04:34 > 0:04:39others cut deep into what were sand dunes, leaving the RNLI station in a
0:04:39 > 0:04:43precarious position. They used to be a sound ramps that
0:04:43 > 0:04:48came out to roughly just behind where I'm standing, and that ramp
0:04:48 > 0:04:52was the access for the lifeguards to be able to get up and down with
0:04:52 > 0:04:56emergency vehicles. There is no sand dunes left and it has affected the
0:04:56 > 0:04:59whole of the foundations of the decking and surveillance are. At the
0:04:59 > 0:05:04moment, as you can see, it's quite dangerous. The sand from the dunes
0:05:04 > 0:05:08were swept down the beach and into the sea. In the summer it will
0:05:08 > 0:05:11slowly be pushed back up. What we need to do, should we be building
0:05:11 > 0:05:19defences here?We should avoid building. We should let the
0:05:19 > 0:05:23coastline be dynamic and do its own thing, and we can do that if we
0:05:23 > 0:05:29don't interfere.Ultimately you just too close to the beach? It's lovely
0:05:29 > 0:05:32when people can have a drink here in the summer but it's effectively
0:05:32 > 0:05:36built on the sand. Is this mother nature calling time at the bar and
0:05:36 > 0:05:42serving you notice? We are in a battle with mother nature which is
0:05:42 > 0:05:46probably one of the stupidest fights to pick.
0:05:46 > 0:05:49What a battle to be having.
0:05:49 > 0:05:59The next storm starts with F, any ideas?I want a flamenco! It comes
0:05:59 > 0:06:09from Sevilla.Disappointingly it is Ffion, followed by Georgina. That is
0:06:09 > 0:06:15my knowledge done! It's this time of year with the bad weather, we really
0:06:15 > 0:06:20miss Strictly. Such a feel-good show. Sitting in cosy, warm, the
0:06:20 > 0:06:26glitz and glamour. They are starting up again soon, the tour. The tour
0:06:26 > 0:06:33coming up?Next week, the 19th of January in Birmingham.Have you had
0:06:33 > 0:06:36a bit of a Strictly detox quest might do you need to shower off all
0:06:36 > 0:06:44of the glitter?I do miss wearing sequins. You become a magpie
0:06:44 > 0:06:47automatically. Then you want to be a magpie for the rest of the year. You
0:06:47 > 0:06:52want to be covered in glitter all the time! I miss it horribly.Do
0:06:52 > 0:06:58you?Not wearing sparkly things all the time. This is your first tour?
0:06:58 > 0:07:04I've been on tour all my life as a dancer, over 20 years I've done
0:07:04 > 0:07:09touring. I was really young then. It's a bit odd going back... But I'm
0:07:09 > 0:07:13really excited, actually. It's more about the professional dancers.
0:07:13 > 0:07:19Tempted to get on the dance floor? Always, always! They don't want to
0:07:19 > 0:07:25seek an old ballerina on the dance floor! What? Come on guys!Thank
0:07:25 > 0:07:34you... Maybe Ore, is hosting it, we had a giggle and thought maybe we
0:07:34 > 0:07:38will have a dance or something just open. There will be so much going
0:07:38 > 0:07:43on, they don't need me, they really don't. I will be behind the desk
0:07:43 > 0:07:47doing my bit.You say you are an old ballet dancer but you go back to the
0:07:47 > 0:07:51Royal Ballet School and coach occasionally?I coach in the Ballet
0:07:51 > 0:07:55School and the company as well, the Royal Ballet Company, which I love
0:07:55 > 0:08:01to do. I think it is something you can never lose, it's part of your
0:08:01 > 0:08:06skin, it's everything about my life and I love giving back and all the
0:08:06 > 0:08:12experience I've learned from being a professional myself. You know, gosh,
0:08:12 > 0:08:17when I was a professional and I was doing all those shows, you wanted
0:08:17 > 0:08:20somebody to constantly be that support, to tell you you're doing
0:08:20 > 0:08:23the right thing when you are doing the wrong thing or how it could be
0:08:23 > 0:08:27improved.And the health benefits as well, which we will move on to talk
0:08:27 > 0:08:30about, especially the younger generation, is something you really
0:08:30 > 0:08:34focused on. You have come up with these dance routines, almost like
0:08:34 > 0:08:40fitness DVD?It is a fitness. I love dance and I want everyone to
0:08:40 > 0:08:45experience it. I think if it has to be there for everybody, for any
0:08:45 > 0:08:51ability and any age, but especially for kids, young. This is the DVD.
0:08:51 > 0:08:55Your daughters were heavily involved as well?I had to try everything out
0:08:55 > 0:09:00on them. For me, I get so bored really quickly of fitness. I needed
0:09:00 > 0:09:03something that would really stimulate me and keep my mind
0:09:03 > 0:09:08working as well, not just going into... On a jogging machine or a
0:09:08 > 0:09:12bicycle or standing in the gym. I needed something that stimulates my
0:09:12 > 0:09:16nerves and muscles and is a full body work-out. But you are so
0:09:16 > 0:09:19distracted because it so much fun, I'm just smiling all the way
0:09:19 > 0:09:26through.That's what you need for keeping fit!I can't... I hate
0:09:26 > 0:09:30getting fit. It was great when it was of my job but now I know have I
0:09:30 > 0:09:33have to keep my body moving, it's important to keep the body moving,
0:09:33 > 0:09:37supple and strong. I wanted to devise something that had masses of
0:09:37 > 0:09:42variety. That's why we kind of go round the world. How does it work as
0:09:42 > 0:09:47much each routine is like a couple of minutes long.Yes, like Sprints,
0:09:47 > 0:09:51the best way to get fit. Not an extreme at all. It's about keeping
0:09:51 > 0:09:55it entertaining. We do go around the world, so we have flamenco and
0:09:55 > 0:10:04African. This is only 14 genres, we have about 42.Interesting.You can
0:10:04 > 0:10:07never get bored and there is something for everyone, which is
0:10:07 > 0:10:11incredibly important as well. With kids, I love to see them. There's
0:10:11 > 0:10:14all these styles they've never even tried. They've seen all the pop
0:10:14 > 0:10:17videos and have all the popular music but when you suddenly throw
0:10:17 > 0:10:20something in the mix they have never tried before, they just light up.
0:10:20 > 0:10:25They don't even realise they are exercising.Chances are if you do it
0:10:25 > 0:10:31at home, they can do it longer! LAUGHTER
0:10:31 > 0:10:35We forget the endorphins. You want to get kids active, feel those great
0:10:35 > 0:10:39endorphins and you do that by being physical and also by having a laugh.
0:10:39 > 0:10:43It is great to do it together, it really is.
0:10:43 > 0:10:45Most people will end up breaking their New Year's
0:10:45 > 0:10:49resolutions to become more active because of a lack of willpower
0:10:49 > 0:10:52or maybe the lure of a warm sofa.
0:10:52 > 0:10:55It is quite warm in here!
0:10:55 > 0:10:57Others are quite capable of sticking to their fitness resolutions but,
0:10:57 > 0:10:59says Tanni Grey Thompson, may end up breaking them
0:10:59 > 0:11:02through absolutely no fault of their own.
0:11:05 > 0:11:10Sport is meant to be for all of us, for the naturally sporty like me or
0:11:10 > 0:11:14for those who just want to be healthy. The 2012 Olympics and
0:11:14 > 0:11:17Paralympics were supposed to inspire us all to get out and get moving but
0:11:17 > 0:11:21five years later, a survey has revealed three out of five disabled
0:11:21 > 0:11:25people rarely or never take part in sport or a physical activity. Which
0:11:25 > 0:11:30just isn't good enough. 29 you wrote Katie has down syndrome. She wanted
0:11:30 > 0:11:33to get fit but struggled to get to grips with the gym without any
0:11:33 > 0:11:43support.A couple of years ago she hurt her back, so she stopped going.
0:11:43 > 0:11:49She just used to sit and watch TV, and couldn't get her out of the
0:11:49 > 0:11:53house.Everything changed the Katie when she met 24 year rolled gym
0:11:53 > 0:12:00instructor Ben. The unique NHS funded pilot scream aiming to make
0:12:00 > 0:12:03the leisure industry much more inclusive for disabled people. What
0:12:03 > 0:12:08sort of barriers did you see around disabled people stopping them
0:12:08 > 0:12:14getting fit and active? Some wariness about attending an
0:12:14 > 0:12:16activity, if the light wasn't right, if there were things on the floor
0:12:16 > 0:12:21they couldn't say, if people would be able to communicate with them if
0:12:21 > 0:12:26they had a learning difficulty.Then worked on upping Katie's cardio
0:12:26 > 0:12:30fitness and now she attends weekly dance class. Have you seen a real
0:12:30 > 0:12:36change in Katie since she came to the gym?Yes, her lung capacity
0:12:36 > 0:12:40improved and she was making friends. You were more engaged, weren't you?
0:12:40 > 0:12:45Got a lot out of it rather than just health outcomes. Now she says, will
0:12:45 > 0:12:55do this one, do that one.Pictures, drawing a circle.Do you like
0:12:55 > 0:13:03colouring as well? Lap yet. Then has a new client who is autistic, and
0:13:03 > 0:13:06has learning difficulties. Today Ben is showing Sammy how to use machines
0:13:06 > 0:13:10he hasn't tried before. Before you met Ben, how hard was it to go to
0:13:10 > 0:13:18the gym?I struggled a little bit to move the equipment.I think he just
0:13:18 > 0:13:21needed someone to support him, give it a go, this is how we use the
0:13:21 > 0:13:25equipment.What do you like about coming to the gym, how does it make
0:13:25 > 0:13:31you feel?Feels better, more confident.Sammy and Katie are
0:13:31 > 0:13:34getting the gym support they need in Salford but the rest of the country
0:13:34 > 0:13:39needs to catch up. I hear from disabled people who have being
0:13:39 > 0:13:43denied access and people turned away from sports clubs, is not
0:13:43 > 0:13:46acceptable. I have come to talk to Mike from sport England to ask him
0:13:46 > 0:13:50why. There are still some examples of disabled people who have been
0:13:50 > 0:13:55turned away, do you think that is acceptable? No, it's not acceptable.
0:13:55 > 0:14:01Really sad to hear that. What I think we can do at sport England is
0:14:01 > 0:14:04help sports clubs providing practical advice and training on how
0:14:04 > 0:14:07you can include people with disabilities, really simple things
0:14:07 > 0:14:11which can be done to include people and it's our job to help them do
0:14:11 > 0:14:16that. And how healthy is a 12 week
0:14:16 > 0:14:18intervention kick-starting disabled people's relationship with sport and
0:14:18 > 0:14:24the benefits are far reaching. Disabled people are much more likely
0:14:24 > 0:14:28to develop obesity, hypertension, anxiety and depression. I think by
0:14:28 > 0:14:33creating more inclusive opportunities for disabled people to
0:14:33 > 0:14:36exercise and remain physically active, the more we can improve the
0:14:36 > 0:14:40health outcomes for disabled people. How was the training session? It was
0:14:40 > 0:14:47fantastic!You're the best. He's the best? Does he make you work hard?
0:14:47 > 0:14:51Yes. It is important schemes like this and more are rolled out across
0:14:51 > 0:14:55the country. It is a matter of ordinary disabled people being
0:14:55 > 0:14:59visible in sport and gyms, not just an elite athletes. If they can see
0:14:59 > 0:15:01it, they can be it.
0:15:01 > 0:15:12Thank you. Someone who lives by that sentiment is high-flying 14-year-old
0:15:12 > 0:15:17Izzy Weall with her dad. APPLAUSE
0:15:17 > 0:15:19Izzy, you recently won the Young Achiever prize
0:15:19 > 0:15:21at the Pride of Sport Awards.
0:15:21 > 0:15:24So tell us how that came about?
0:15:24 > 0:15:28They contacted my mamma whilst I was on the school holidays and she was
0:15:28 > 0:15:32writing the notes.I was reading what she was writing and I got
0:15:32 > 0:15:34confused. She got off the phone and explain the whole thing to me. We
0:15:34 > 0:15:37were both in shock for the next couple of hours, couldn't believe
0:15:37 > 0:15:41what had happened. Then it happened about a month later and it wasn't
0:15:41 > 0:15:46until I turned up that I realised how big an event it was. There was
0:15:46 > 0:15:50like a red carpet and there were so many celebrities and sporting people
0:15:50 > 0:15:56that I recognised. They got that point where was overwhelmed.Izzy,
0:15:56 > 0:16:02how did you find trampolining?Year seven at my secondary school,
0:16:02 > 0:16:08started that at a club. All my friends were going to it. By
0:16:08 > 0:16:12December, I started competing and I won. From there, I've kind of taking
0:16:12 > 0:16:17it a bit more seriously.And exhausting, trampolining! It is
0:16:17 > 0:16:24really tiring!Olly, as Izzy's father, did you think Izzy could
0:16:24 > 0:16:29achieve this?
0:16:29 > 0:16:32We didn't, after she got ill we tried lots of different things and
0:16:32 > 0:16:35sports and trying to find one that clicked for her that she was able to
0:16:35 > 0:16:40do, that she enjoyed doing. Lots of people said she's got blades, she
0:16:40 > 0:16:45can go running at its nice and easy but that didn't work for her. But
0:16:45 > 0:16:48trampolining was it and it just clicked and she loves it and enjoys
0:16:48 > 0:16:53it, that's the main thing.How old were you when you got meningitis?I
0:16:53 > 0:16:58was seven.You haven't stopped trampolining because you have so
0:16:58 > 0:17:02much ambition. This is unbelievable, the next sport you are going to try
0:17:02 > 0:17:10is motor racing.What?You are fearless!They saw some of the
0:17:10 > 0:17:16videos I had posted on YouTube. Yeah. They liked my attitude and
0:17:16 > 0:17:21they thought it might be a challenge I wanted to do next, so they
0:17:21 > 0:17:26contacted my dad and my dad told me and I said, of course I want to do
0:17:26 > 0:17:29that, so we've started doing stuff with them, visiting them, and
0:17:29 > 0:17:33working out how we are going to adapt the car. What is the feeling
0:17:33 > 0:17:41on the household on this?It is a bit mixed. Mum's seen the video of
0:17:41 > 0:17:46the racing and said, my God, I don't want you going that fast. I am a bit
0:17:46 > 0:17:49of a petrol head so I'm supportive and on her side there. Obviously
0:17:49 > 0:17:58going to see some of this is good for me as well.Good on you, girl.
0:17:58 > 0:18:03Spread the word and make it happen. We are getting the system to work
0:18:03 > 0:18:06with the team, they have adapted cars that they use for their
0:18:06 > 0:18:12disabled racing team they have already, they have got to use their
0:18:12 > 0:18:16hand controls to be legged controls with Izzy and we are putting this on
0:18:16 > 0:18:21to a simulator they will try out.We know you are a big fan of Strictly,
0:18:21 > 0:18:25and lots of people have heard about this venture into the world of motor
0:18:25 > 0:18:30racing, including this bloke, you might recognise him.Hey, Izzy, it's
0:18:30 > 0:18:35Jonnie Peacock. I wanted to say a personal good luck for you and team
0:18:35 > 0:18:38Brit trying to get around the race track, it's incredible. What you've
0:18:38 > 0:18:41done over the last few years has been amazing, and well done on the
0:18:41 > 0:18:50international trampolining champion. APPLAUSE
0:18:50 > 0:18:56Is he going to be on the tour?Yes, he's on the tour, Jonnie Peacock,
0:18:56 > 0:19:00all of the Strictly finalists, and we have an invitation for any show
0:19:00 > 0:19:03you'd like to go to on the tour because it starts on the 19th of
0:19:03 > 0:19:07January, so if you'd like to come along with your family with love to
0:19:07 > 0:19:11show you backstage and introduce you to everybody, tip Jonnie. What about
0:19:11 > 0:19:14that? APPLAUSE
0:19:14 > 0:19:17.
0:19:17 > 0:19:22Not everybody is a fan of selfies. I'm sure Darcey is asked for
0:19:22 > 0:19:25hundreds and hundreds of them but nobody is more sick of them than our
0:19:25 > 0:19:32Michael Douglas. 2018, how with the old and in with the new, so much has
0:19:32 > 0:19:37changed in the world since this time last year. We had an election. And I
0:19:37 > 0:19:42will now form a government. President Trump took office.And I
0:19:42 > 0:19:47will never ever let you down.We even got a new Strictly judge.You
0:19:47 > 0:19:52did great.But how much have I changed? Do I look any different?
0:19:52 > 0:19:58That's what I want to find out, so for the last 365 days I've taken a
0:19:58 > 0:20:02selfie at the same time every day, no matter where I was in the world,
0:20:02 > 0:20:11and no matter what I was doing. Up to the present-day. Here I am
0:20:11 > 0:20:15amongst all of the selfies I took in the last year. Crikey, it's a little
0:20:15 > 0:20:21to be honest. This is me on the morning after my birthday looking a
0:20:21 > 0:20:25little bit rough there. This, however, is the first one I took on
0:20:25 > 0:20:31the 1st of January, and this here is the last one I took yesterday. So,
0:20:31 > 0:20:39can you see the difference? I mean, have I aged? I'm going to need an
0:20:39 > 0:20:46expert eye, so I've come to Newcastle University to meet a
0:20:46 > 0:20:50dermatologist to analyse me, my selfies and I. As you know, I've
0:20:50 > 0:20:55been taking selfies of myself for a year. So this is the first one. I'm
0:20:55 > 0:21:02smiling because I'm happy and a bit tipsy. This is my last. So, could
0:21:02 > 0:21:07you say that I have aged in a year? I think you have, clearly you have
0:21:07 > 0:21:13more damage on your nose than at the beginning of the year. There is a
0:21:13 > 0:21:15lot of dehydration taking place here compared to the beginning of the
0:21:15 > 0:21:20year, so I think that's pretty clear.OK. But could the Professor
0:21:20 > 0:21:24pinpoint the start of my decline? I've pulled out this picture here
0:21:24 > 0:21:27and you've got some nice early visible signs of ageing here.
0:21:27 > 0:21:34Really?When was this? This was April on a skiing holiday in the
0:21:34 > 0:21:38French Alps. You've got damage to your nose, lots of uneven skin tone
0:21:38 > 0:21:43and dryness and everything else, which you can see starting to break
0:21:43 > 0:21:49out into more visible wrinkles. Yeah.A skiing village at 5000 feet,
0:21:49 > 0:21:53you've got somewhere like 40% less filtering of UV at that height,
0:21:53 > 0:21:57which is why you get more sunburnt more quickly on a mountaintop.Venue
0:21:57 > 0:22:02would do on a beach.This year you've moved yourself into the fast
0:22:02 > 0:22:07lane of ageing. Now you have a choice to move into the slow lane.
0:22:07 > 0:22:11It's the slow lane for me, I'm
0:22:11 > 0:22:12afraid. So, according to the professor a bit
0:22:12 > 0:22:17of sun damage I got around my nose in April is the most likely area
0:22:17 > 0:22:20where future wrinkles will develop. If only there was some way of
0:22:20 > 0:22:27looking into that future. Well, there is. Time for selfie number
0:22:27 > 0:22:31366. I'm getting my picture taken with a revolutionary camera. I'm
0:22:31 > 0:22:35excited. It predicts what I will look like in five years' time based
0:22:35 > 0:22:40on my current skin profile and this cosmetic surgeon can explain the
0:22:40 > 0:22:47results.These are the pictures we were talking about. If you look very
0:22:47 > 0:22:53carefully, spots, wrinkles, texture, pores,, they are the ones that are
0:22:53 > 0:22:56visible and then we have the invisible ones, the UV spots. Is
0:22:56 > 0:23:03that bad? That looks bad.It is a scary picture, you were skiing and
0:23:03 > 0:23:06that damage shows on your face, and this damage within reason is
0:23:06 > 0:23:11permanent, because it damages the DNA of yourselves.Well, the camera
0:23:11 > 0:23:15never lies, but now for the moment of truth, what will my skin looked
0:23:15 > 0:23:23like five years from now? -- cells. Slightly younger or slightly older?
0:23:23 > 0:23:32This is younger. -- older, these lines are becoming more numerous. It
0:23:32 > 0:23:36is those pesky skiing wrinkles. After taking a selfie every day for
0:23:36 > 0:23:40the last year I've managed to capture the ageing process in
0:23:40 > 0:23:43action, but I've also had a little glimpse into the future, which to be
0:23:43 > 0:23:47honest is not very nice. One good thing has come off today, I no
0:23:47 > 0:23:53longer have to take any more of these selfies. Delete!
0:23:53 > 0:23:57Michael, I think he still looks good and he has a great head of hair,
0:23:57 > 0:24:01doesn't he? He might be worrying about the signs of ageing, but
0:24:01 > 0:24:04Darcey, you look fantastic, I'm sure that's not what you worry about when
0:24:04 > 0:24:10looking in the mirror.Never!Get the DVD on and do a bit of dancing,
0:24:10 > 0:24:12no need to worry.
0:24:12 > 0:24:15Time to catch up with Mike on day two of his deep sea adventure.
0:24:23 > 0:24:27I'm on a three-week expedition to try and filmed some of Britain's
0:24:27 > 0:24:33biggest and most elusive marine animals. Filming aboard the Celtic
0:24:33 > 0:24:37Explorer, a high-tech research vessel, The One Show wildlife team
0:24:37 > 0:24:43and I have joined a 5000 nautical mile Fischer of a being conducted by
0:24:43 > 0:24:47the marine Institute of Ireland, and we were only a few hours into the
0:24:47 > 0:24:50expedition when we were treated to a close encounter with a huge pod of
0:24:50 > 0:24:58common dolphins. On the starboard bow I'm watching common dolphins
0:24:58 > 0:25:02just by the side of the boat. I'd say there are 20 or 30 just down
0:25:02 > 0:25:15this side here. We are now more than 100 miles from shore leaving is
0:25:15 > 0:25:17exposed to hostile weather conditions, and less than a week
0:25:17 > 0:25:24into our journey, things have taken a turn for the worse. Wind speed has
0:25:24 > 0:25:35reached 39 knots, meaning we are sailing through a force eight storm.
0:25:35 > 0:25:41It's fairly brutal out here right now. The wind's pelting my face. One
0:25:41 > 0:25:49minute it's all sea, the next minute it's all sky. It's like being on a
0:25:49 > 0:25:52roller-coaster.
0:25:52 > 0:25:58After a broken night's sleep, the storm has passed and the vital task
0:25:58 > 0:26:04of catching fish for the scientists to study can begin again. The ship's
0:26:04 > 0:26:08crew is made up of many experienced fishermen, Frank Kenney has been
0:26:08 > 0:26:13fishing these waters for most of his life.I started fishing on the east
0:26:13 > 0:26:17coast of Ireland when I was 16 and as the fishing vessels got bigger
0:26:17 > 0:26:26over the years, we went further afield, went into the North Sea, as
0:26:26 > 0:26:30far-away as Ireland.It's a dangerous job. When I was an
0:26:30 > 0:26:34apprentice, the seamanship teacher, the first day there were 21 of us,
0:26:34 > 0:26:39he said to us, I'm looking down at ute 21 lads.I guarantee one of you
0:26:39 > 0:26:43will be drowned if you will take up the fishing career. And lo and
0:26:43 > 0:26:48behold, sadly he was right. After about three years one of the lads
0:26:48 > 0:26:53was drowned, fell off a fishing vessel. So it can be dangerous and
0:26:53 > 0:26:57you definitely always have to be on your guard.Frank's words are put
0:26:57 > 0:27:01into sharp perspective by a ceremony of remembrance for the crew of a
0:27:01 > 0:27:03rescue helicopter who died in the line of duty just six months
0:27:03 > 0:27:13previously.We gather here on the stern of the Celtic Explorer to lay
0:27:13 > 0:27:16this wreath in memory of those who lost their lives at sea in the last
0:27:16 > 0:27:2312 months. We remember in particular the crew of rescue 166, may God
0:27:23 > 0:27:27bring some comfort to their families and make the souls of all those who
0:27:27 > 0:27:31were lost at sea rest in peace.
0:27:44 > 0:27:48As I returned to my mission, the sea's true elemental nature as a
0:27:48 > 0:27:56source of both wonder and fear stays with me. And true to form what I see
0:27:56 > 0:27:57next blows me away.
0:27:59 > 0:28:07I'm looking at dolphins, about twice the size of the common dolphins,
0:28:07 > 0:28:12four metres in length. Back out in the deep water, 100 miles from the
0:28:12 > 0:28:15coast of Scotland we are finally deep enough to be in their hunting
0:28:15 > 0:28:24grounds. There is the head popping out of the Risso's dolphin., much
0:28:24 > 0:28:28paler great, that's because of the scarring from fighting, they can
0:28:28 > 0:28:32look white in certain lights. As they age the whole body can turn
0:28:32 > 0:28:41white with healed bite wounds from other Risso's and oceanic squid.
0:28:41 > 0:28:46This part of the North Atlantic is coming up with the goods. After
0:28:46 > 0:28:49incredible views of Risso's dolphins I can't wait to see what we discover
0:28:49 > 0:28:53next. We have not long to wait because
0:28:53 > 0:29:01he's back tomorrow. From our seas to our skies earlier we sought this
0:29:01 > 0:29:03picture of Cambridgeshire, that lovely smiley face. We have no
0:29:03 > 0:29:09confirmation of who the pilot is but we have had four e-mails Hussein
0:29:09 > 0:29:13Mark Jeffries, so, Mark, if it's you we know you are a stunt pilot and it
0:29:13 > 0:29:18cheered us up.Darcey, thank you for joining us tonight, good luck with
0:29:18 > 0:29:23the tour and your dance fitness programme.Thank you.
0:29:23 > 0:29:26We're back tomorrow with Death in Paradise stars Ardal O'Hanlon
0:29:26 > 0:29:30and Josephine Jorbert, along with Lorraine Kelly.
