:00:41. > :00:42.The honour is mine - delighted to be asked to present
:00:43. > :00:46.on such an auspicious week - I will try my best to not muck it
:00:47. > :00:48.up, although I did have cold feet earlier today.
:00:49. > :00:57.And if that wasn't the most blatant clue to a guest we've had
:00:58. > :01:01.Please welcome, star of Cold Feet, Fay Ripley.
:01:02. > :01:08.It's a bit of an anniversary year for you too
:01:09. > :01:10.Fay - twenty years since you auditioned for the role
:01:11. > :01:13.of Jenny in Cold Feet - but you originally thought you were
:01:14. > :01:19.I thought that I was going in for the role of Rachel. I thought that I
:01:20. > :01:21.would be the pretty one that everyone falls in love with, but
:01:22. > :01:24.then I get John Thompson as my husband, could not have gone better,
:01:25. > :01:34.I'm delighted with that now! Helen Baxendale was written out. The
:01:35. > :01:40.character has been written out, she is as lovely as ever, really. They
:01:41. > :01:47.needed somebody to dive. The show was over, to be fair. We are
:01:48. > :01:54.celebrating something here, aren't we? Cold feet, not six feet under.
:01:55. > :01:59.-- they needed somebody to die. Tonight we'll be digging up some
:02:00. > :02:02.more classic clips of One Shows past when when we play
:02:03. > :02:05.The Great One Show Anniversary quiz with the help of some more
:02:06. > :02:08.of our ten-year team. Nadiya Hussain, Carrie Grant
:02:09. > :02:19.and Michael Douglas. APPLAUSE
:02:20. > :02:25.To get us all in the mood, here's an question for you.
:02:26. > :02:28.What was Gyles' favourite ever moment on the show,
:02:29. > :02:38.I thought you meant when he was Debbie Reynolds... Don't believe
:02:39. > :02:46.everything you read in the newspapers. Was it when he met
:02:47. > :02:51.Debbie Reynolds, or was it when he met... Debbie Reynolds? LAUGHTER
:02:52. > :02:58.Do you know, I think it may have been when he met Debbie Reynolds. I
:02:59. > :03:05.have got a cider, overhear! Shelby Rogers a together? LAUGHTER
:03:06. > :03:14.-- I have got a cider, over here. Shall we run along together!
:03:15. > :03:19.LAUGHTER When I was a tiny boy, singing in
:03:20. > :03:24.the rain was the first musical I ever saw, and I are absolutely fell
:03:25. > :03:27.in love with Debbie Reynolds. -- Singin' In The Rain. She was as
:03:28. > :03:29.lovely as ever, and doing a duet with her, on The One Show, all might
:03:30. > :03:34.dreams have come true. Now we've all made some big
:03:35. > :03:37.decisions in our time. But not many can say those decisions
:03:38. > :03:40.have come with a multi-million Wendy Robbins has been back to learn
:03:41. > :04:01.the true value, and the cost, VOICEOVER: Six years ago on The One
:04:02. > :04:04.Show, we met self-made is this man and millionaire Brian, he had made a
:04:05. > :04:08.big decision to sell his mansion, possessions and ten acre estate in
:04:09. > :04:14.Northumbria, and ploughed the proceeds into a new charity for
:04:15. > :04:19.cancer patients. What I want to do is develop and organise a transport
:04:20. > :04:25.service which picks people up from home, travels them to hospital,
:04:26. > :04:26.stays with them, and once they have undergone chemotherapy or
:04:27. > :04:31.radiotherapy, take them home again. That is coming from the proceeds of
:04:32. > :04:35.the sale. He had been able to help his wife, Shirley, through her
:04:36. > :04:40.treatment for cancer, he saw that others struggle. Surely was not so
:04:41. > :04:44.keen on the planned to give absolutely everything away! There
:04:45. > :04:50.you go, your new home for the next six months. You go in first, you had
:04:51. > :04:55.better show me around. She was not happy with downsizing so
:04:56. > :04:59.drastically. What more do you want? There is twice as much room as we
:05:00. > :05:06.need! Something three times the size! That room is far too small.
:05:07. > :05:11.Brian's daughter, Fiona, was more resigned. Did you expecting to give
:05:12. > :05:16.away everything? I would have taken a bit, ?20,000, put some central
:05:17. > :05:24.heating in our house, we have always known it would go to charity. That
:05:25. > :05:28.was in 2010, so I have come back to find out how Brian and his charity
:05:29. > :05:32.are getting on. He now has a fleet of ambulances operating across the
:05:33. > :05:39.north-east, all adopted and named by local primary schools. You have done
:05:40. > :05:46.it, this is amazing. 20 ambulances, 300 volunteers, 20,000 patients. We
:05:47. > :05:53.are just scratching the surface. It is amazing how the patient will tell
:05:54. > :05:56.you, if they did not have Daft As A Brush, they would have given up
:05:57. > :06:07.their treatment. Brian still works all hours to support the charity,
:06:08. > :06:14.but it has come at a cost, neither is divorced from his wife, and he
:06:15. > :06:18.now lives in an apartment. I do not have a motor car, a mobile phone, I
:06:19. > :06:25.do not have a house, but I am a millionaire. In a different way. I
:06:26. > :06:28.certainly don't cook with that of. 100,000 patients every year, we only
:06:29. > :06:37.have 20,000, a long way to go. He spent his life amassing a fortune,
:06:38. > :06:41.only to give it all away. It brings back a lot of memories. What do you
:06:42. > :06:45.miss most, if anything, about living in luxury. Nothing... When you
:06:46. > :06:50.watch, you remember the good days of living in a multi-million pound
:06:51. > :06:53.stately home, but it was all worthwhile. You could not pay for
:06:54. > :06:57.the pleasure that I have had, with those patients, hearing what they
:06:58. > :07:00.say about what we are doing for them. Do you mind me asking what
:07:01. > :07:11.happened with you and Shirley? We grew apart. Possibly, this is my new
:07:12. > :07:16.marriage, working with the charity. I still keep close to my daughters
:07:17. > :07:19.and my son. I do not resent my father giving away the money,
:07:20. > :07:25.although I will probably always bear a grudge that we all had to take out
:07:26. > :07:29.a student loan... I have got a house, with central heating, now!
:07:30. > :07:36.Even if I had twice as much money, I would not choose to live in a bigger
:07:37. > :07:44.house. I think you just need one that fits yourself. I think what he
:07:45. > :07:49.has achieved has been incredible. At 72. It is quite impressive. I think
:07:50. > :07:56.it is a shame that he does it all on his own, that he does not have my
:07:57. > :08:02.mother there to help and support him, but that is just how it has
:08:03. > :08:07.turned out. Are you still determined to die penniless? Yes, I have
:08:08. > :08:10.donated all of my wealth to the charity, but what you leave behind
:08:11. > :08:20.is far more important. And believe you me, we are going to leave behind
:08:21. > :08:25.something truly remarkable. I wish I had started earlier. If I had
:08:26. > :08:29.started it 20 years ago, the charity may have been as, we may have been
:08:30. > :08:36.able to provide the service to everyone in Great Britain... At
:08:37. > :08:37.Jordan, and Brian and some of his volunteers are here in the studio
:08:38. > :08:48.tonight. -- extraordinary. One of the most moving films we have
:08:49. > :08:53.had in the last ten years. Cold Feet is back on our screens
:08:54. > :09:01.again after a 13 year break. I did not see the first series but I
:09:02. > :09:06.felt completely up-to-date, it is one of those, it does not matter, if
:09:07. > :09:11.you saw it. That was one of the big fear is, it was a high-risk strategy
:09:12. > :09:16.will stop what has happened to the carriages over the years? Same as
:09:17. > :09:19.everybody else, bit older, bit wiser, bit more tired and a bit more
:09:20. > :09:25.fat! LAUGHTER Does that sum it up? That is why I
:09:26. > :09:30.thought it was so good, I watched it then and now, I love it now, the
:09:31. > :09:33.problems of people who are a little bit more mature... They are more
:09:34. > :09:37.complicated and interesting and I think it is a deeply show, it is as
:09:38. > :09:46.funny and sentimental and gripping as before, but it is richer.
:09:47. > :09:50.Hopefully, we are showing what does happen. It is not a got
:09:51. > :09:54.commensurate, by any means, but hopefully it reflects where we are.
:09:55. > :10:01.-- it is not a documentary, by any means. It is nice, clearly, you were
:10:02. > :10:06.too young to watch it... That was one of the worries, we have got
:10:07. > :10:10.amazing young people in it but it is good to know that people can dip
:10:11. > :10:14.into it. Straight in, bang up-to-date. What is it like to
:10:15. > :10:17.getting back together, we were talking about the horror of School
:10:18. > :10:22.unions, seeing these people again after all these years, working with
:10:23. > :10:26.the same team after 13 years... Worst day of my life(!) LAUGHTER
:10:27. > :10:33.No, it is not a light, the initial date, in the cab, I began to pray,
:10:34. > :10:37.to God, that I would be involved in an accident, where somebody was
:10:38. > :10:42.hurt, but not killed, so I would not have to go to the reading! Fay!
:10:43. > :10:49.LAUGHTER Just a maiming, not a death, just a
:10:50. > :10:53.maiming... I didn't want to go!... Minute I walked in, as soon as we
:10:54. > :10:57.got together, it was like a bunch of old mates, it felt like a family
:10:58. > :11:01.barbecue, to be perfectly honest, then we did not look back, and it
:11:02. > :11:05.was brilliant, but initially, really stressful.
:11:06. > :11:09.Your character Jenny has a new career as an Events Organiser.
:11:10. > :11:17.She's not that keen on her job. Do you not enjoy your job? I do not do
:11:18. > :11:24.it for the love of it. Help yourself to a mini bag. One H! I saw that!
:11:25. > :11:28.LAUGHTER Drinks in the bar at six, help
:11:29. > :11:39.yourself to a goody bag. I I get to meet new people, they tend
:11:40. > :11:43.to be sales wraps, it is a pity, they are all a bit dull, mind you,
:11:44. > :11:47.they'd probably say the same about me. Could you not pretend to be
:11:48. > :11:55.interesting? You know, they don't have to know the truth. APPLAUSE
:11:56. > :12:01.Fine wine, you have all aged quite well, who has aged best and who has
:12:02. > :12:05.aged worst? When I look at myself, I think that I look like my own
:12:06. > :12:08.father, in a dress, it is a disaster! LAUGHTER
:12:09. > :12:15.Can I say, I really fancy your father in a dress... ! LAUGHTER
:12:16. > :12:28.Good-looking man, but he is a man. I cannot judge it... John looks
:12:29. > :12:33.better, I think he looks better now! To a certain extent, everybody has
:12:34. > :12:42.relaxed a bit. And I like the joke about the hair, at the beginning. I
:12:43. > :12:43.am saying nothing! Those who have watched will know what we are
:12:44. > :12:48.talking about. the friends from Cold Feet reunited
:12:49. > :12:52.and we've reunited a few friends here on The One Show over the last
:12:53. > :12:57.10 years too. The four other girls were my family.
:12:58. > :13:00.I like to think they are my sisters because I have never had any.
:13:01. > :13:05.VOICEOVER: We reunited five girls and maybe neither is children's home
:13:06. > :13:09.who travelled across the world to revisit the very house they grew up
:13:10. > :13:17.in. What is it like to see your names, 50 years on? It brings you
:13:18. > :13:24.back to that time.... In 2013, a newly discovered recording brought
:13:25. > :13:25.best friends and fans of the Beatles Linda and Barbara together after 40
:13:26. > :13:36.years apart. And this year, we reunited UK's
:13:37. > :13:42.first all-female motorcycle stunt team, they had not seen each other
:13:43. > :13:50.since the 1970s. We really believe that nothing was going to happen. It
:13:51. > :13:53.has been so lovely this week, seeing so many fantastic moments. Now it is
:13:54. > :13:57.time to put our knowledge to the test. Time to play the great one
:13:58. > :14:10.show anniversary quiz! We have two teams, and they will be
:14:11. > :14:18.playing for this glorious no expense spared trophy...
:14:19. > :14:28.They will be revealing some special guests... Here we go...
:14:29. > :14:31.When Will Smith and his family appeared on the show in 2010
:14:32. > :14:33.he threw a blueberry at Matt Allwright
:14:34. > :14:40.Down the front of Louise Minchin's dress?
:14:41. > :14:44.Stuck to a camera lens where it stayed
:14:45. > :15:06.Stuck to a camera lens... CHEERING There you go! There you go!
:15:07. > :15:08.Unfortunately, it went down Louise's dress, and Will Smith... No, no he
:15:09. > :15:15.didn't go down her dress! LAUGHTER Carrie and Michael,
:15:16. > :15:17.this is called the Blast What what was he dressed
:15:18. > :15:36.as when he fainted in Was it a banana, a Womble or a
:15:37. > :15:41.Cyberman? The strange thing is, it is the One Show, it could have been
:15:42. > :15:47.any of them. I'm going to go for the Cyberman. I've never seen a Cyberman
:15:48. > :15:53.on the One Show. They always plugging Doctor Who. They've had a
:15:54. > :16:01.few bananas. Go with Cyberman. Is it Cyberman? I carried the Paralympic
:16:02. > :16:10.torch relay last year so I... One of the Cyberman has painted. He is
:16:11. > :16:18.fine. -- he has fainted. Luckily Sir Bruce Keogh is here and he is
:16:19. > :16:26.treating him in the corridor. Easy, easy. If he could faint again that
:16:27. > :16:30.would be awesome. Going back to Gyles and Nadiya. Staying with
:16:31. > :16:34.Doctor Who, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan came on in 2010 and we made
:16:35. > :16:42.up a concoction of cornflour batter. What did they do with it? Did they
:16:43. > :16:46.fry a large pizza in it and eat it all in 60 seconds, make a painting
:16:47. > :16:51.of the Tardis out of it or did they run across a tank of batter without
:16:52. > :17:00.falling in? I know that. I have no idea. Follow your instinct. Running
:17:01. > :17:07.across, that's what they did. A pizza, did they keep fry it? Go with
:17:08. > :17:22.mine. Running across. I must hurry you. Did they run across it? Come
:17:23. > :17:29.on, Karen. I can't do it! APPLAUSE
:17:30. > :17:33.I remember that. The first show with Chris Evans. The last question to
:17:34. > :17:41.you, from one of our viewers. This is Lady Gaga from New York. Hello, I
:17:42. > :17:46.am Lady Gaga. Congratulations on ten years of the One Show. My question
:17:47. > :17:53.is, what was the name of the One Show Christmas single released in
:17:54. > :18:00.2008? What was the name of the Christmas single released in 2008?
:18:01. > :18:06.Let's Build A One Show Snowman, Green Sofa Sleigh Ride, Or Lets Not
:18:07. > :18:11.Fight This Christmas. Before my time! I think it is the snowman. OK,
:18:12. > :18:25.go for it. Let's see. # Let's not fight this Christmas.
:18:26. > :18:35.# Let's not fight this year. # Let's not fight this Christmas.
:18:36. > :18:47.Not very catchy. That reached 128 places in the charts! These scores
:18:48. > :18:53.are? 1-1. Ooh. Still all to play for. Thanks to Lady Gaga, her single
:18:54. > :19:01.is out today. It may go higher than 128. Continuing the alphabetical
:19:02. > :19:03.food tour of the UK and he has reached the D. Nadiya, we think you
:19:04. > :19:14.will like this one. Mile by mile and letter by letter, I
:19:15. > :19:19.am on an alphabetical odyssey to seek out the best dishes in the. My
:19:20. > :19:28.search for Britain's best food is being guided by you. -- in the. It
:19:29. > :19:33.is my age to Z of UK food. -- in the land. You sent me a lot of
:19:34. > :19:39.suggestions for the D. One suggestion of bread from Donna D,
:19:40. > :19:46.and I was also nominated for Devon cake. But I'm on my way to a City
:19:47. > :19:54.that is Scotland's sunniest. Today I'm in Dundee, to make cake, and
:19:55. > :19:58.marmalade. So why the double delight? This City has brought us
:19:59. > :20:05.Dundee cake and Dundee marmalade, believed to be invented by the same
:20:06. > :20:13.local family. So I am putting in some miles today with two factories,
:20:14. > :20:17.two producers and two hairnets. First, Fisher and Donaldson, by
:20:18. > :20:22.Royal appointment, no less. They have three shops in Dundee although
:20:23. > :20:25.the bakery is 13 miles away. My family have been baking for nearly
:20:26. > :20:31.100 years, I am the fifth generation. My uncle and my dad and
:20:32. > :20:36.myself are in the business, my sister Jade also. With so much
:20:37. > :20:41.experience, what makes the definitive Dundee cake? It is
:20:42. > :20:47.Seville orange marmalade, Peel, with concentric rings of Ahmanson. We
:20:48. > :20:53.have a team who placed the Allman is on to the top of the cake, giving
:20:54. > :20:57.the distinctive look. It is so distinctive it may yet get protected
:20:58. > :21:06.geographical indicator status from the EU. A proposal to restrict the
:21:07. > :21:10.boundary to the postcodes DD1-DD7 may be bad news for Benn although he
:21:11. > :21:15.says that he will move if he has two. A few miles down the road, the
:21:16. > :21:21.only place that is still making it the old-fashioned way. We use the
:21:22. > :21:27.copper bottom boiling method. Made in a way that we would make it at
:21:28. > :21:30.home, just on a bigger scale? Absolutely, pretty much identical.
:21:31. > :21:37.Martin gets the flavour he once by heating the marmalade for 18
:21:38. > :21:41.minutes, six times longer than most. What makes Dundee marmalade so
:21:42. > :21:47.special? Like all great foodstuffs, it is great quality ingredients and
:21:48. > :21:53.we have better Seville oranges. We keep it set and that is it. It is
:21:54. > :21:58.cool down and put into jars, ready to be sold around the world. As it
:21:59. > :22:04.is the key ingredient for Dundee cake I might just... Great! Now I
:22:05. > :22:10.have the perfect recipe for Dundee cake and the perfect marmalade, only
:22:11. > :22:15.one thing to do, make my own. Waiting for professionals, Ben,
:22:16. > :22:20.Sandy and Jade, as well as the marmalade master, Martin, I want to
:22:21. > :22:26.do a good job. Maybe my nuts could be a bit neater. After a couple of
:22:27. > :22:33.hours in the oven it is time for the taste test. So, we are on the Dundee
:22:34. > :22:41.quayside with your perfect cake recipe and your perfect marmalade.
:22:42. > :22:48.What do you reckon, Sandy? I think that the flavour of the almonds
:22:49. > :22:54.really sets off the marmalade, it is superb. It is fruity and butter
:22:55. > :23:02.Riyad Mahrez, it takes the boxes. It is delicious. -- and it is buttery.
:23:03. > :23:10.Would you do the honours of putting the cake and marmalade on the map?
:23:11. > :23:19.Absolutely. As I leave Dundee, that is A-D complete. Where shall I go
:23:20. > :23:25.next? That depends entirely on you. If you have a favourite British dish
:23:26. > :23:32.beginning with the letter E, let us know. So round two. This is the
:23:33. > :23:37.great One Show anniversary quiz. Right, the first question, which
:23:38. > :23:47.celebrity dog caused chaos on the show back in 2008? Jonathan Ross's
:23:48. > :23:55.pug, Paul O'Grady's Pekinese or Graham Norton's Labradoodle.
:23:56. > :24:00.Jonathan Grady. Jonathan Grady? Neither are correct. I can do
:24:01. > :24:20.something else. BARKING. We got it wrong. It was a
:24:21. > :24:26.Labradoodle love in. The characters in which sitcom watched the One Show
:24:27. > :24:34.through a caravan window? The Royle Family, The Vicar of Dibley or Mrs
:24:35. > :24:45.Brown 's boys? The Royle Family. Ooh it's the One Show.
:24:46. > :24:54.SING ONE SHOW THEME. Well done. We are going over to Fay now. What have
:24:55. > :25:01.you got? This is Russ Swift and what did he do in front of Sir Michael
:25:02. > :25:08.Caine in October 2010? Did he have his haircut? Oh, the options! Did he
:25:09. > :25:15.run through the studio shouting, not a lot of people know that.
:25:16. > :25:18.Spectacularly did he parked a mini in an impossibly small gap or did he
:25:19. > :25:24.dressed as Batman and climbing outside of the studio? He drove a
