:00:17. > :00:19.Hello and welcome to the One Show with Alex Jones.

:00:20. > :00:21.And my co-driver for the night, the very funny, self-proclaimed

:00:22. > :00:23.'mouth of the south' - Rob Beckett!

:00:24. > :00:34.Happy Friday. Happy Friday, Rob. Good to have you here. Your I

:00:35. > :00:42.dressed smart debut. For. It Looking lovely. Matt always looks nice,

:00:43. > :00:44.doesn't he? He does. I couldn't go for the full cream rowers. I would

:00:45. > :00:54.look like Rupert the Bear. Well, I'm glad you're in the driving

:00:55. > :00:57.seat with me because tonight We've got a lot to get

:00:58. > :01:01.through before we reach the finishing line including

:01:02. > :01:03.music from The Vamps! So buckle up, and enjoy the ride

:01:04. > :01:06.because joining us now is the star of the latest Disney Pixar

:01:07. > :01:08.blockbuster, Cars 3. Please welcome Lightning McQueen

:01:09. > :01:26.himself - it's only Owen Wilson! Hello, nice to see you. Come and

:01:27. > :01:30.have a seat. Good to have you with us. Thanks for having me. No

:01:31. > :01:38.problem. We will talk all about Cars 3 later on. The audience is excited,

:01:39. > :01:41.I'm sure everyone is at home too. We will start with car themed

:01:42. > :01:49.questions. Fire away. We picked a theme and gone for it. Yes. We heard

:01:50. > :01:55.you sat your driving theory test with a Country star. Legend. How and

:01:56. > :02:01.who? Willie Nelson. We took our... We had to get our driver's licence

:02:02. > :02:08.renewed. We both had Texan driver's licence, we had to have Calfornian

:02:09. > :02:12.ones. His wife set it up to go together and take a written test. I

:02:13. > :02:20.don't want to say that we got some help, but we got some help! In

:02:21. > :02:26.exchange - Is that you will a right For taking pictures. I think so. I

:02:27. > :02:30.have to disagree. It was a teacher I ran into in school. No, no. You

:02:31. > :02:35.don't drive over here, you use a bike to get around? Yeah. I would be

:02:36. > :02:40.nervous driving here you guys drive - That is because you failed your

:02:41. > :02:44.theory test! If you'd done it properly you would feel confident. I

:02:45. > :02:49.get around on a bicycle. That's a great way to get around London with

:02:50. > :02:54.the traffic and everything. You guys have those great, the fold up bikes.

:02:55. > :02:59.Yes. They are hard work. Aren't they ano-oning They are great. Everyone

:03:00. > :03:03.looks stressed when I see them on the train with one. I don't bring

:03:04. > :03:09.them on the train. I just ride them. You make it sound a lot cooler. Yes.

:03:10. > :03:12.Now, later on in the show we'll be handing you over to be interviewed

:03:13. > :03:15.by one of the country's biggest Lightning McQueen fans.

:03:16. > :03:19.He's been a huge fan for over half his life,

:03:20. > :03:27.There's his Lightning McQueen birthday cake.

:03:28. > :03:30.There he is talking a nap in his Lightning McQueen duvet cover

:03:31. > :03:33.And there he with his collection of Lightning McQueen cars.

:03:34. > :03:36.Yes, it's fair to say, he eat, sleeps and breathes

:03:37. > :03:46.Abi, how are you? Good, thank you. It will be a huge surprise for Aaron

:03:47. > :03:52.later on. Where is he now? He's gone up to bed. Just as normal. He's

:03:53. > :04:01.brushing his teeth with his Lightning McQueen tooth brush and

:04:02. > :04:05.PJs like he does he every night. How obsessed is he, how many times have

:04:06. > :04:10.you had to watch? We know he's obsessed. Cleaning his teeth with

:04:11. > :04:19.one of your projects. Have you had to keep him awake He's been Carrs

:04:20. > :04:26.mad since before he was two years old. We have won the film 100 times.

:04:27. > :04:31.His two goldfish are called Lightning and McQueen. We get it.

:04:32. > :04:34.His reaction will be good. We will speak to you later.

:04:35. > :04:37.Now Owen, we know you're from Texas, so we've handpicked a couple films

:04:38. > :04:39.Texas style barbeques coming up later.

:04:40. > :04:42.There's two things I know about Texas - there's lots of oil

:04:43. > :04:48.So here's a film about a massive oil rig.

:04:49. > :04:58.Just off the north-east coast lies some of the biggest structures in

:04:59. > :05:01.the United Kingdom. Engineering marvels that have supplied us with

:05:02. > :05:09.oil and gas for the past four decades. This is the Brent Delta

:05:10. > :05:14.Platform. At its peak in 1982 it pumped 500 million barrels of oil a

:05:15. > :05:16.day. With production declining, this and hundreds of others will be

:05:17. > :05:22.decommissioned over the next 40 years. The plan is to bring them

:05:23. > :05:27.here, to Hartlepool Docks to be broken down and recycled. It's

:05:28. > :05:31.anything but simple. Bringing these giants of steel and concrete ashore

:05:32. > :05:37.is an extraordinary feat of engineering. First the we wills were

:05:38. > :05:42.capped. The enormous top side, weighing 24,000 tonnes and reaching

:05:43. > :05:46.130 meters into the sky was sliced clean from its giant legs using die

:05:47. > :05:51.manned cutters. It was then lifted aboard the biggest ship on earth in

:05:52. > :05:55.the world's heaviest ever marine lift and sailed 400 miles inland

:05:56. > :06:05.where it was transferred to another sea monster, a giant barge called

:06:06. > :06:10.the Iron Lady. It's finally here. It's been at sea for 40 years and

:06:11. > :06:16.the challenge for the team now is to get it ashore. How long will it

:06:17. > :06:19.take? For the project leader Alistair Hope it's the culmination

:06:20. > :06:24.of five years hard work. We know from the one other single lifted

:06:25. > :06:29.platform that was done last year in Norway that this operation can go

:06:30. > :06:33.badly wrong. In that case, the quay started to collapse. There was

:06:34. > :06:38.nearly a catastrophe. We spent a lot of time designing and building this

:06:39. > :06:41.quay. Underneath are 1200 pianist that give the strength to take

:06:42. > :06:46.24,000 tonnes. Moving this monster will be done by a process called

:06:47. > :06:53.skidding. With just the click of a button, it begins. Sitting on three

:06:54. > :06:59.giant stools the rig is lifted on to tracks laid from the barge to the

:07:00. > :07:05.quayside. 64 push pull units will move the rig into place. You have to

:07:06. > :07:09.balance the barge as the heavy platform transfers from the

:07:10. > :07:12.Vesselsel to the dock crossing precariously over a five meter

:07:13. > :07:18.bridge. If you imagine stepping off a little boat on to a quayside that

:07:19. > :07:21.you might do on a pond in the park. The tendency will be to push away

:07:22. > :07:26.from the quayside. We have to balance the barge as the weight

:07:27. > :07:31.transfers. It's not just the weight that puts it at risk of toppling

:07:32. > :07:37.over. Does the weather have an impact it's getting blowy? 131

:07:38. > :07:41.meters in tall in total. It's a giant sail. The wind is affecting

:07:42. > :07:45.the rate of progress. As the Delta passes this critical phase, a crowd

:07:46. > :07:49.of engineers gathers to watch. It clears the bridge without a pitch

:07:50. > :07:55.and now it's fully ashore I can get a closer look. The entire structure

:07:56. > :07:59.is now off the barge and on to the quayside. That means we can get

:08:00. > :08:03.around the back and look, these are the hydraulic rams that are doing

:08:04. > :08:07.the work. They are not very big. It's quite astonishing. With all

:08:08. > :08:12.this weight comes friction and the rams can't combat that alone. The

:08:13. > :08:20.skidding tracks have been fitted with low friction pads and are being

:08:21. > :08:23.constantly greased using a surprising concoction, household

:08:24. > :08:28.Luke bra cant and low calorie oil olive oil. Finding a way to reuse

:08:29. > :08:33.and repurpose thing things is what this project is about. The man in

:08:34. > :08:38.charge is Peter Stephenson. We are trying to take reusable equip am

:08:39. > :08:44.first, take out wood, mattresses and carpet and we prepare for the steel

:08:45. > :08:49.found Russ. That is melted down. That might be part of your car. It

:08:50. > :09:02.comes back as metal in your household goods. How much will get

:09:03. > :09:10.recycled? 98. 4%. Recycle and reused. After seven long hours, the

:09:11. > :09:16.Brent Delta has reached its fine al ever resting place. Who know what is

:09:17. > :09:20.it could turn into next. Just like that oil rig, Lightning McQueen is

:09:21. > :09:24.getting old. Is he head aring for the scrap heap.

:09:25. > :09:27.Here to tell us more is the director of Cars 3, Brian Fee.

:09:28. > :09:43.Excited to have you here. Before we go further. We don't come from Pixar

:09:44. > :09:51.empty-handed. We like to Carfy our movies. We would like to present

:09:52. > :09:57.you... Wow. This This in the Cars world. You you have drawn me as a

:09:58. > :10:07.car. You focused on one feature. Thank you. Alex th is you in the

:10:08. > :10:12.Cars world. That is really kind of you. Thank you very much. You are

:10:13. > :10:16.welcome. Some people bring us gifts, they are never this good. Thank you

:10:17. > :10:22.very much. Would you be offended if it went on eBay? I wouldn't be. It

:10:23. > :10:28.was drawn by Scott Moore. Brilliant. Thank you very much Brian. Very nice

:10:29. > :10:32.present to get. Yeah. You directed Cars 3 it was Pixar legend John

:10:33. > :10:37.Lasseter that directed 1 and 2. Was it pressure taking over? You know,

:10:38. > :10:40.it's a lot of pressure directing a movie when you have never done it

:10:41. > :10:45.before. John never Putney pressure on me. I only had - Is it the first

:10:46. > :10:50.one you ever directed that's a big gig? Do you know how to direct a

:10:51. > :10:55.movie No idea. I didn't either. You are a hero. I got a lot of support

:10:56. > :11:00.from the studio. I got all the other directors together as fast as

:11:01. > :11:04.possible and said - tell me what you wish you knew. I had to learn really

:11:05. > :11:11.quickly. With we followed Lightning McQueen's journey. In Cars 1 he was

:11:12. > :11:14.the young thing on the block, new to racing. This new movie he is looking

:11:15. > :11:21.at the new generation coming through isn't he? I know. I accepted that

:11:22. > :11:24.now sometimes I play a dad in movie. I don't maybe play the roles I used

:11:25. > :11:33.to. I thought Lightning McQueen was immune to the ageing process. He

:11:34. > :11:40.gets the ravages of time hitting him. It makes for sort of a full

:11:41. > :11:43.circle with the story, the way now Paul Newman was a mentor to

:11:44. > :11:46.Lightning in the beginninged and now Lightning McQueen has that

:11:47. > :11:53.opportunity to sort of do the same thing in this one. Let us take a

:11:54. > :11:57.look at the moment when Lightning McQueen meets the new kid in town,

:11:58. > :12:01.Jackson Storm, for the very first time. I appreciate it, thank you

:12:02. > :12:07.very much. Thank you. Hey, Jackson Storm, right? Great race today. Wow,

:12:08. > :12:13.thank you Mr McQueen. You have no idea what a pleasure it is to

:12:14. > :12:21.finally beat you. Thanks. Hang on did you say "meet or beat"? I think

:12:22. > :12:25.you heard me. Oh, what? Can we get Picker Tuesday. Get a tonne of

:12:26. > :12:30.pictures. Champ has been a role model of mine for years now. I mean

:12:31. > :12:37.a lot of years! Right, I love this guy. I think I touched a nerve!

:12:38. > :12:46.APPLAUS Great film. I saw a screening of it

:12:47. > :12:50.yesterday, I loved it. The new cars look incredible. I do a little bit

:12:51. > :12:54.of voice over stuff. It's voiced by you. People have the perception that

:12:55. > :12:58.it take as couple of hours and they do the film is it a much longer

:12:59. > :13:03.process than people realise? No, it's a little bit what you say. Roll

:13:04. > :13:07.in, a a could of hours, then, yeah, call it a day. We do it a lot of

:13:08. > :13:12.times. Yeah. It's not just That is true once. . Do you feel you have

:13:13. > :13:16.nailed it first time and Brian goes, come on... I think I've nailed. It

:13:17. > :13:21.you like to have options. We like options. Sometimes you discover a

:13:22. > :13:25.new way to do it. I like to experiment after we get what is

:13:26. > :13:29.written onto the page. With Owen, kind of coming from a writer

:13:30. > :13:35.background you kind of steer us around sometimes. We get things we

:13:36. > :13:42.didn't expect to get. Do you get writing credit - awkward! Wow. OK. I

:13:43. > :13:50.can feel the tension, could you! You could. You say Owen you never go

:13:51. > :13:55.to premiers. Actually you manage to sit through this one? Yeah. It's a

:13:56. > :14:00.little awkward. I find it awkward seeing yourself or hearing your

:14:01. > :14:06.voice. I can imagine. You can imagine that's awkward for me? Yeah!

:14:07. > :14:11.It is. With this one I had my six-year-old and three-year-old they

:14:12. > :14:17.were both going. So I went with them and it was a fun experience to have

:14:18. > :14:20.at Disneyland to see how Reeved up they got. Waiting, I knew Lightning

:14:21. > :14:24.McQueen has a crash in the beginning. I was watching my

:14:25. > :14:27.three-year-old. He was just like, gets his world blown when he sees

:14:28. > :14:34.Lightning McQueen crash. He is like, "are you going to be OK?" Oh! When I

:14:35. > :14:37.did sit through the whole thing, it was great. Great job. It's a great

:14:38. > :14:46.film we will talk more in a bit. Yes, there's a new kid in town

:14:47. > :14:48.called Isla who's been nominated, alongside the likes of Frankie Boyle

:14:49. > :14:51.and Doon Mackichan, for a Scottish comedy award for her online videos

:14:52. > :14:54.that she makes on an iPhone And the annoying thing is she's

:14:55. > :15:00.only three years old! Well, with the summer

:15:01. > :15:02.holiday's coming up, here's Isla and Mark with a video

:15:03. > :15:17.they've made especially for us. Start getting ready for nursery.

:15:18. > :15:25.It's the summer holidays. How long do they last? Ten days? Seven weeks.

:15:26. > :15:36.What do you find to do for seven weeks? Don't worry, today, soft

:15:37. > :15:43.play. Not soft play. What's wrong with soft play? 'S boring. Tomorrow,

:15:44. > :15:51.riding a bike, baking cakes. And the rest of the week we can go to a

:15:52. > :15:57.theme park and a toy shop. I'm not made of money. You can't put a price

:15:58. > :16:05.on fun, dad. I think we should do some local, cheaper things. Like

:16:06. > :16:11.what? Go to the museum. Museums for old people, dad. What about the farm

:16:12. > :16:19.down road, that's like a zoo? It a few cows in an angry goat. What

:16:20. > :16:25.about the beach? We could paddle, sunbathe. Sunbathe, we live in

:16:26. > :16:31.Scotland. We had our summer, it was a Tuesday afternoon. How are we

:16:32. > :16:33.going to fill seven weeks? We could just sit on the couch and eat pizza

:16:34. > :16:48.and watch a DVD. Yes, great idea! So good. If you want to see more,

:16:49. > :16:52.they have made a selection of funny films which can be found on BBC

:16:53. > :17:01.Scotland's Short Stuff website. Watch yourself. She is too good. Did

:17:02. > :17:07.you enjoy that? She has a lot of charisma. Funny. Did you pick up on

:17:08. > :17:15.the different accents? Well, the one main one! Yes. Very well spoken.

:17:16. > :17:25.Earlier in the meeting we watched the trailer to your new film with

:17:26. > :17:30.Julia Roberts called Wonder. I was on the floor, crying my eyes out.

:17:31. > :17:38.Severe hay fever in both eyes. Pollen, nightmare. Tell us about it.

:17:39. > :17:52.It is with Julia Roberts and it is based on a book. We have a child

:17:53. > :17:58.that is born with... Facial disfigurement. The parents are

:17:59. > :18:03.worried about him going to school. I know that with Marley and me, it was

:18:04. > :18:11.a tear-jerker. I am bracing myself for people complaining I made them

:18:12. > :18:16.cry. It is heart-wrenching. That is your first time acting with Julia

:18:17. > :18:25.Roberts. Ben Stiller, you have worked with him 13 times. Is it only

:18:26. > :18:32.13? It feels like 100. How did that happen? How did it happen? He cast

:18:33. > :18:36.me, the first movie I auditioned and got, in the cable Guy, the only

:18:37. > :18:40.movie I ever got from an audition. He cast me in that, although later

:18:41. > :18:50.he told me he did not want to cast me but someone else did, the writer.

:18:51. > :18:57.Ever since, we have worked on... Such a good pairing. We could talk

:18:58. > :18:59.to you all days but we need you to get into character as Lightning

:19:00. > :19:04.McQueen because we have someone special waiting to speak to you. He

:19:05. > :19:09.does not want to talk to Owen Wilson, but Lightning McQueen. Can

:19:10. > :19:20.you channel Lightning? Can we speak to Abbey? Hello. Hello. Good news,

:19:21. > :19:32.we have got Lightning McQueen standing by. Is Aaron ready? Yes, he

:19:33. > :19:39.is. We can hear you. Hello, Aaron, it's Lightning McQueen! We are here

:19:40. > :19:49.at radiator Springs, wondering what you are doing. We miss you. He has

:19:50. > :19:53.gone shy! Aaron, you have got three questions for Lightning McQueen.

:19:54. > :20:02.What is your first question? Do you like pizza vesture Mark of course.

:20:03. > :20:16.How could I not love pizza. These are hard-hitting questions. White

:20:17. > :20:20.macro -- next one? How do you go so fast? It helps having a name like

:20:21. > :20:28.Lightning. You have to go fast with that name. It was just the way that

:20:29. > :20:41.they drew me. One more question, Aaron. Are you friends with Jackson?

:20:42. > :20:50.Not so much. But he's not a bad guy. We did, in doing this, he is very

:20:51. > :20:56.arrogant. But maybe that is just sour grapes on my part. Making

:20:57. > :21:05.dreams happen. How was that? Was it OK? We will take that as a yes.

:21:06. > :21:09.Lightning has to go and race now what we will send you something

:21:10. > :21:14.special in the post. Enjoy the film tomorrow. Good night. See you later,

:21:15. > :21:15.Aaron. We're about to zoom outside

:21:16. > :21:18.for The Vamps but first, we know the Americans are great

:21:19. > :21:21.when it comes to animation Well, we're about to find out

:21:22. > :21:38.because Ricky has hosted a BBQ It's summer, and for British food

:21:39. > :21:47.that means one thing. It's barbecue season, time to break out the tongs,

:21:48. > :21:52.firelighters and the sun hat. This is the Grill stop festival in

:21:53. > :22:02.Bristol, a celebration of barbecues, but with a distinctive American

:22:03. > :22:06.flavour. US- style barbecue joints are popping up all over the country.

:22:07. > :22:13.What is it that makes the US barbecue so special? American chef

:22:14. > :22:18.Ray lamp is better known as Doctor barbecue. He should know. Americans

:22:19. > :22:25.made it about the flavour and the source. The sources are unique in

:22:26. > :22:29.different parts of the country. We match the Carolina sauce with fatty

:22:30. > :22:35.pork. In Texas they make a beef gravy barbecue sauce. What do you

:22:36. > :22:40.think about the British barbecue? When I first came here all that

:22:41. > :22:43.people talked about was burning sausages in disposable grills. That

:22:44. > :22:50.is just drunken backyard activity that I am not familiar with. I am

:22:51. > :22:55.not having that. Time to defend the honour of great British barbecue in.

:22:56. > :23:02.So welcome to our very own transatlantic barbecue grudge match.

:23:03. > :23:07.For the stars Stripes, Ray has recruited two US legends of the

:23:08. > :23:15.competitive barbecue scene. John, and DJ barbecue, Christian. And for

:23:16. > :23:21.the UK, Somerset's expert master, Simon, and former grand champion,

:23:22. > :23:29.Steve, also known as Priscilla, Queen of the fire pit. We've got

:23:30. > :23:32.this in the bag. Look at what Ricardo has brought. Each team has

:23:33. > :23:37.three hours to make a barbecue feast. First, the burgers and I am

:23:38. > :23:43.going the whole hog. The pig is the king as far as I'm concerned, so I

:23:44. > :23:48.am doing a pork burger, with pork belly, smoked bacon and paprika.

:23:49. > :23:54.What could be better? DJ barbecue is relying on a special ingredient for

:23:55. > :23:59.his burgers. I have added some bone marrow to supercharge it. Steve is
