:00:25. > :00:32.Hello, friends. Welcome to a suitably festive show. Tonight we

:00:32. > :00:36.have a treat for you. Well, for me, actually. Yes, like a lot of ladies,

:00:36. > :00:44.Alex is very excited about tonight's guest. Like a lot of

:00:44. > :00:49.blokes on tonight's show, I'm a tiny bit intimidated! You insult my

:00:49. > :00:54.queen. You threaten my people with slavery and death. I have chosen my

:00:54. > :01:01.words carefully. Perhaps you should have done the same. The East is

:01:01. > :01:11.blasphemy! This is madness! It is the start of 300 and Ps I love you,

:01:11. > :01:12.

:01:12. > :01:16.That gets better every time. tweeted the fact you were going to

:01:16. > :01:22.be on the show and straightaway we got the questions about that film,

:01:22. > :01:28.300. Do you get sick of being asked to do all of the shouts from 300 on

:01:28. > :01:33.shows like this? Yes. But what is funny is when I did it, we did it

:01:33. > :01:38.but various different ways. The first couple of times it was...

:01:38. > :01:48.Madness, this is barter. Then the finished and I said, let me try it

:01:48. > :01:50.

:01:50. > :01:55.one more. Just for the hell of it. Magners, this is barter!!!. I know,

:01:55. > :02:03.but I turned around and all the rest of the crew were like this.

:02:03. > :02:09.The director had said, that was ridiculous. It became quite a

:02:09. > :02:18.famous line. I have to apologise for our fluffy seeds. They are

:02:18. > :02:22.wrecking his trousers. Another tweeter was asking why you stopped

:02:22. > :02:29.supporting St Mirren. I didn't know you support them, have you stopped,

:02:29. > :02:33.did you ever? I did support them. Why it has happened? I wasn't very

:02:33. > :02:40.well as a child. My brother was a St Mirren supporter, they were my

:02:40. > :02:44.local team. But there was just something about Celtic. A powerful

:02:44. > :02:48.sway. Then one day I thought, I want to be different from my

:02:48. > :02:57.brother. I jumped over. Plus, my cousin used to go to all of the

:02:57. > :03:01.Games. You're in Rod Stewart's gang and with Billy Connolly and you sit

:03:01. > :03:08.together having a good time. No, I didn't know any of them at that

:03:08. > :03:13.point of road. I was eight years old! I'd say, hello, abroad. He'd

:03:13. > :03:17.say, Peter, who are you? We found a lovely picture of you and Beckham

:03:17. > :03:21.from a few weeks ago. It's the first time we've seen Beckham look

:03:21. > :03:29.more excited to be in the photo than the other person. Did he ask

:03:29. > :03:33.you for an autograph? He did. I run into him a lot and he asks me for

:03:33. > :03:42.an autograph every time. It's getting embarrassing. I saw him

:03:42. > :03:46.last night. What, where? I'm not telling you. I went to the game and

:03:46. > :03:53.thought, hey, I was here, you might have won, but I turned up, give me

:03:53. > :03:57.a hold of that. I want to bask in your glory. It's funny because he

:03:57. > :04:01.won that tournament and you thought it was just mass celebrations. I

:04:01. > :04:06.went into the back room and he's been standing there foot two hours.

:04:06. > :04:10.He's taking photos with everybody and their mother. He was kind of

:04:10. > :04:18.standing there and said, come on in. That's why people love him because

:04:18. > :04:25.he does that sort of stuff. He is a sweetheart. We like him even more

:04:25. > :04:28.now. Gerard grew up in Paisley, near Glasgow. Glasgow is one of the

:04:28. > :04:37.hottest look patients to shoot a movie in right now. The even when

:04:37. > :04:42.She's been around the block but still knows how to blitz it up.

:04:42. > :04:46.It's possible she may have had some work done, and she's also

:04:47. > :04:52.Hollywood's latest star. OK, so why not actually talking about a hot

:04:52. > :04:55.shot actress, but the City of Glasgow. Because over the past year

:04:56. > :05:01.or so, some of the world's biggest movie stars have been coming here

:05:01. > :05:08.to film multi-million-dollar films. So what is it about Glasgow that is

:05:08. > :05:10.attracting the cream of Hollywood? Taxi! Brad Pitt, Halle Barry and

:05:10. > :05:18.Scarlett Johansson are just some of the stars who've been filming here

:05:18. > :05:22.in recent days. One of the big draws for recent Hollywood films is

:05:22. > :05:26.Glasgow's grid structure, which is similar to many American cities.

:05:26. > :05:32.George Square was transformed into Philadelphia for this film, which

:05:32. > :05:39.was shot here last year. And Glasgow act as a double for San

:05:39. > :05:44.Francisco in Cloud Atlas. The I spoke to the location manager on

:05:44. > :05:49.some of those films. Describe what Glasgow has to offer. It's a huge

:05:49. > :05:53.range of locations, and all very accessible. You have a fantastic

:05:53. > :05:58.city with beautiful architecture, ranging from the modern to the old.

:05:58. > :06:03.But you also have countryside very close by. And you have parts of the

:06:03. > :06:08.city that can double up as other places. This was the biggest

:06:08. > :06:16.production to ever come to the city, involving 700 extras and 300 crew.

:06:16. > :06:20.This is where the action took place. It is indeed. This was shut down

:06:20. > :06:25.for how long? Most of the square was closed for about 10 days.

:06:25. > :06:31.That's quite a while. It is. interested to know what incentive

:06:32. > :06:35.is there are for the City and the council. Do they get paid? If you

:06:36. > :06:39.want to film on a particular street, East Street doesn't cost you

:06:39. > :06:43.anything. But what you need to put into place to be able to film in

:06:44. > :06:47.that street will cost you money. There has been the odd grumble that

:06:47. > :06:52.the city that used to be famous for making things is now becoming more

:06:53. > :06:56.well known for dressing up in other city's clothes. But there's no

:06:56. > :07:06.doubt it's big business for the local council. Filming in Glasgow

:07:06. > :07:11.

:07:11. > :07:17.has brought in more than 200 Sunshine on Leith, a musical based

:07:17. > :07:21.on the songs of the Proclaimers and named after their song about the

:07:21. > :07:27.Edinburgh port area, is currently being filmed in... You've guessed

:07:27. > :07:34.it - Glasgow! The film is set in Scotland. Sunshine on Leith, the

:07:34. > :07:38.clue is in the title. But that is Edinburgh. It is. There are certain

:07:38. > :07:43.logistical requirements. Sometimes decisions are made purely on the

:07:43. > :07:49.fact of, OK, wears the most cost- effective and efficient place of

:07:49. > :07:55.shooting something? And that's Glasgow? It kind of his. What is

:07:55. > :07:59.the best thing about filming in Glasgow? The energy and enthusiasm.

:07:59. > :08:06.There's a lot of great people here who work really hard and a top-

:08:06. > :08:09.class professionals. We get to be a part of that. It's great that so

:08:09. > :08:14.many productions are coming to Glasgow. It does make you see the

:08:14. > :08:24.city in a different light. And you can almost imagine that you're on

:08:24. > :08:25.

:08:25. > :08:30.your own movie set. Drive on. bother. Very clever, that. 200

:08:30. > :08:36.million for Glasgow, that's good news. You know about Leith, you

:08:36. > :08:40.used to live there. Yes, I trained as a lawyer in Edinburgh. I lived

:08:40. > :08:45.down there, it was a down and dirty area with great pubs. Which is why

:08:45. > :08:50.I never made it as a lawyer. heard the story about the fact it

:08:50. > :08:56.took a lot of Mondays off. Yes, because of Sunday night in the pubs.

:08:56. > :09:02.It didn't serve me well, that place. As you talked about it used live

:09:02. > :09:07.down. You don't drink at all any more, do you? I don't.

:09:07. > :09:13.Coincidentally, I've never been back! Are you going to Scotland for

:09:14. > :09:20.Christmas? I am. Watching that, I worked with that director, Mark

:09:20. > :09:24.Forrester... How many zombies do they need? If you want a bunch of

:09:24. > :09:31.zombies and you don't want to spend a lot of money on make-up, you go

:09:31. > :09:41.to Glasgow! Glasgow and Leith, you are very welcome to the show, as

:09:41. > :09:45.

:09:45. > :09:50.always. No zombies in the new film. It is a comedy drama. I made it

:09:50. > :09:57.with Jessica Biel and Uma Thurman and Catherine Zeta Jones and Dennis

:09:57. > :10:05.Quaid. I basically play it down on his luck former pro football player,

:10:05. > :10:10.whose kind of lost it all. Soccer. I played for Celtic, my choice.

:10:10. > :10:13.Liverpool. And now I kind of don't have much going on. I've gone back

:10:13. > :10:20.to the town where my ex-wife lives to try and patch things up with my

:10:20. > :10:24.boy. Who you are still in love with? I am. I end up coaching the

:10:24. > :10:29.kids' soccer team, which I really don't want to do. I saw through

:10:29. > :10:39.that straight away. You did? What does that mean? It's all to get the

:10:39. > :10:48.

:10:48. > :10:58.Who's the new coach? Stacy's X. were a great player. This is your

:10:58. > :10:59.

:10:59. > :11:08.Do you ever think what it might have been like if I hadn't have

:11:08. > :11:16.screwed it all up? At the time I wondered. Do you reckon you can

:11:16. > :11:24.handle this thing? Are you serious? Awesome! Let's not tell your mum

:11:24. > :11:30.A proper big movie as usual from the man there. Lots of great

:11:30. > :11:35.actresses in it. I've never been so covered in crap in all of my life.

:11:35. > :11:42.It's very noticeable on HT. There are some great actresses in the

:11:42. > :11:47.film and you do get it on with most of them. I try! I do. That's where

:11:47. > :11:51.a lot of the humour comes in. This is a guy who's actually trying for

:11:51. > :11:56.wants to be a father, a good man, to turn up on time for his son, to

:11:56. > :12:01.coach the team, to be there for his ex-wife. Meanwhile, everywhere he

:12:01. > :12:11.goes he is being hunted down by a board... It's a nightmare! Single

:12:11. > :12:12.

:12:12. > :12:16.mums, horny housewives. This is awkward. She's not normally like

:12:16. > :12:24.this, she normally doesn't care about how handsome they are.

:12:24. > :12:29.going to have to go to the toilet or something in a minute! Come on!

:12:29. > :12:33.Do you know you have this effect on women? It's boring because they

:12:33. > :12:39.always end up going off to the toilet. I'm just left here on my

:12:39. > :12:44.own. Where would you like to go now? I don't know, whatever is

:12:44. > :12:49.happening next. Another one, an important woman in your life. Your

:12:49. > :12:53.mum. She goes everywhere with you, is that her choice for your toys?

:12:53. > :13:00.She does come around a lot. She's my best buddy. I love hanging out

:13:00. > :13:04.with her. You only have your mum around for so long. She always

:13:04. > :13:10.comes on set to visit. Although I had my premiere here and she was,

:13:10. > :13:14.like, I'm too busy. She was off in Poland, she was visiting hours - at

:13:14. > :13:21.Auschwitz. A very nice thing do, depressing, instead of coming to

:13:21. > :13:26.your son's premier. She missed that. She's a great mum. Is she watching

:13:26. > :13:33.now? I don't know if you see this show in Poland. Is she living in

:13:33. > :13:42.Poland? No, she's visiting. could have got all that flop.

:13:42. > :13:47.why would you moved to Poland? can see that film from New Year's

:13:47. > :13:52.Day. We're going to Jay Rayner next, because we like a man who can plan

:13:52. > :13:57.ahead. He is already looking towards Boxing Day. Do you plan

:13:57. > :14:01.ahead? Not really. Yes, I asked the viewers to send me their turkey

:14:01. > :14:09.left over recipes. I'm warning, there will be an outbreak of turkey

:14:09. > :14:12.curry. Christmas dinner, turkey with all the trimmings. You've

:14:12. > :14:16.worked hard to get it done and you think it's all over... But come

:14:16. > :14:21.Boxing Day they are crying out for more. So when the main event is

:14:21. > :14:25.done and dusted, just what do you do with a half eaten turkey and

:14:26. > :14:30.some sad, old vegetables? We asked viewers to come up with the UK's

:14:30. > :14:35.best turkey leftovers dish. Now it's down to three finalists. Gilda,

:14:35. > :14:40.from Southend on Sea, Carroll, from Barrington, near Preston, and Chris,

:14:40. > :14:44.from West Sussex. They need to impress me and fellow judge, chef

:14:44. > :14:48.Angela grave. What are we looking for today? Something that

:14:48. > :14:51.invigorates the taste buds. We've been over indulged with the turkey

:14:51. > :14:57.and all the traditional bits, so perhaps something that takes us

:14:57. > :15:01.away from that. First, Gilday is a sin and has performed in Las Vegas

:15:01. > :15:05.and the West End. She just loves Christmas. It Chitty Chitty Bang

:15:05. > :15:10.Bang comes on the television then I will sing the entire way through

:15:10. > :15:16.the movie. She is making a Christmas pie. Everything gets

:15:16. > :15:20.thrown in. There are roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, sprouts, peas,

:15:20. > :15:25.turkey and stuffing. And home-made cranberry sauce. There is a secret

:15:25. > :15:30.with that. Yes, I made it with bobcat and orange juice. After this

:15:30. > :15:36.we put a pastry lid on it and chuck it in the oven? No, it will have a

:15:36. > :15:40.bottom on it as well. Even the great egos in. She fills her pastry

:15:40. > :15:47.to the brim with the festive mixture, then it is laid on and the

:15:47. > :15:52.pie goes into the oven for 45 Carol is giving her leftovers a

:15:52. > :15:58.Caribbean twist, spicing her turkey with Jamaican curry powder and

:15:58. > :16:05.adding coconut milk. The smells are pretty full on. Jamaican turkey

:16:05. > :16:10.curry. This is going into a Jamaican Pattie, similar to a pasty.

:16:10. > :16:16.How many at your house at Christmas? Last year it was over 20.

:16:16. > :16:20.We have a nice mixture of Jamaican food and British food. The pastry

:16:20. > :16:24.is yellow thanks to a teaspoon of turmeric. Once sealed, they go in

:16:24. > :16:34.the oven for half an hour and they will be served with a pepper pickle

:16:34. > :16:37.

:16:37. > :16:44.Timeshare salesman Chris lived in Spain for 25 years and his digit is

:16:44. > :16:50.inspired by his lover of all things Spanish. -- his dish. Explain what

:16:50. > :16:56.this is. Most people would think it is a potato, but it is a bechamel

:16:56. > :17:01.sauce with Spanish ham and leftover turkey. Chris waits for the mixture

:17:01. > :17:05.to cool and then the bite-size nibbles a dip in aid and rolled in

:17:05. > :17:10.breadcrumbs. What would your Spanish friends may give you doing

:17:10. > :17:15.it with Turkey? They would say it is very foreign, very UN

:17:15. > :17:25.traditional. They are deep fried for two minutes until they are

:17:25. > :17:30.

:17:30. > :17:36.Time is up on a One Show turkey leftovers Challenge Cup. Time to

:17:36. > :17:41.start a tasting. This is the most classic leftovers idea of the lot.

:17:41. > :17:46.It is Christmas lunch in a pie. is a bit too much of what has been

:17:46. > :17:50.the day before. All of the tastes of the same. It hasn't moved on.

:17:50. > :17:55.She made a big thing about putting vodka in the cranberries, but I

:17:55. > :18:01.can't taste it. I can't, either. Her let's move on to the Jamaican

:18:01. > :18:05.Turkey Patti. She has used a lot of dark meat. That is good. Something

:18:05. > :18:12.really different apart from just carry. We make jokes about Turkey

:18:12. > :18:19.Curry, but this is something more than that. And now Chris. Quite

:18:19. > :18:23.salty. Really nice coating. Super crunchy and gorgeous. He has

:18:23. > :18:30.flavoured it really well. Boxing Day party, a plate of these. They

:18:30. > :18:34.are good. It is time to reveal the winner. We asked you to help solve

:18:34. > :18:40.the nation's greatest Christmas culinary problem, which is what to

:18:41. > :18:50.do with turkey leftovers. The winner of the One Show turkey

:18:51. > :18:54.

:18:54. > :18:58.leftovers cook-off is... Carol. Congratulations. Can I crown you?

:18:58. > :19:08.There we go. Her combination of Jamaican turkey curry and golden

:19:08. > :19:14.pastry made her recipe a Christmas We are surrounded by the smell of

:19:14. > :19:18.curry. Please tell us why she is better than the rest. Car I wanted

:19:18. > :19:22.to give you something of enormous value, but it is the BBC's say you

:19:22. > :19:28.have something cheap. Congratulations on winning. You get

:19:28. > :19:32.the platers well. Christmas Day, you eat yourself to death and you

:19:32. > :19:40.slip into the sofa. You need something to wake yourself up.

:19:40. > :19:46.These are waking up. They are bright and fresh. K let's dive in.

:19:47. > :19:56.The you keep that. There is some curry sauce. Pickled onion

:19:56. > :20:02.peppers... I'm allergic to carry. don't believe you! We did endless

:20:02. > :20:07.research into you. There was a deal breaker when we booked to. Tell us

:20:07. > :20:12.about Christmas Day in your house. I bet it is fun. A lot of fun. I

:20:12. > :20:17.come from quite a large family and my dad is Jamaican, my mum is

:20:17. > :20:24.English. We have both types of food. Jamaican and English. Your dad

:20:24. > :20:32.cooks as well? Yes. If we are having goad, I tell him to make it.

:20:32. > :20:39.-- goat. What do you make of that? It is not that good! No, it is

:20:39. > :20:47.delicious. She doesn't think much of your films! Who does? No, it is

:20:47. > :20:56.really good. It is really nice. What are you doing on Christmas

:20:56. > :21:04.Day? Always asking a question when someone has food in their mouth!

:21:04. > :21:11.will be doing a bunch of this. Cramming as much food as I can in.

:21:11. > :21:15.Round of applause for Carol. APPLAUSE.

:21:15. > :21:22.Time for a film where Gyles Brandreth chat up a Welsh folk

:21:22. > :21:27.singer and get some funny looks of her husband.

:21:27. > :21:30.Museum deck the halls with boughs of holly. With its blazing Yule log

:21:31. > :21:37.and Meade fuelled Mary making, DEC for Hall is one of our jolliest

:21:37. > :21:42.carols. But while the characters sing Away, very few of them realise

:21:42. > :21:50.that what they are singing is an ancient Welsh tune in disguise. And

:21:50. > :22:00.one that had nothing to do with Christmas. I've can't to a National

:22:00. > :22:08.

:22:08. > :22:17.History Museum in Wales where they This is not something you see every

:22:17. > :22:23.day. A wonderful sight, performing. It means New Year's Eve. A what

:22:23. > :22:28.happens? They have to be very quick-witted. One starts and throws

:22:28. > :22:32.did you know that to the next. It is very competitive and it is good

:22:32. > :22:38.fun. If you can't think of the verse, you've got to drop out of

:22:38. > :22:48.the game. It is like musical chairs. In a way. You have to think on your

:22:48. > :22:52.

:22:52. > :22:59.feet. It gets harder to do as the It sounded quite wonderful. What

:22:59. > :23:02.was happening? What was the song about? We were singing how cold and

:23:02. > :23:09.managers who can't love the mountains of Wales. As well as the

:23:09. > :23:14.beautiful women. I thought there were some cheeky moment! I wasn't

:23:15. > :23:24.around when it started. This is 1,000 years ago. I will give it a

:23:25. > :23:26.

:23:26. > :23:36.# It is the time for Christmas parties.

:23:36. > :23:38.

:23:38. > :23:48.# Forget the yoga and Deloitte says. # Here I am, give me a smacker.

:23:48. > :23:54.

:23:54. > :24:04.# Your my idea of a Christmas It sounds a bit better in Welsh!

:24:04. > :24:10.

:24:10. > :24:14.The transition from boarding party game to Victorian carol is hazy. It

:24:14. > :24:19.is not clear who wrote the English lyrics, but in keeping with its

:24:19. > :24:29.Welsh origins, it is still more about winter festivities than the

:24:29. > :24:50.

:24:51. > :24:59.# It is the season to be jolly. Her # See the blazing you'll before
