:00:34. > :00:43.Hello and welcome to the One Show. Tonight, we are live from a very

:00:43. > :00:50.chilly Reading. Very shortly, Matt and Team Rickshaw will be arriving.

:00:50. > :00:55.It is day seven of the challenge, and they have cycled 372.57 miles,

:00:55. > :01:00.incredibly. Tomorrow is the last day, so hopefully in 24 hours they

:01:00. > :01:05.will be crossing the finishing line. Brilliant! Even though Lauren has

:01:05. > :01:10.to cycle the last leg of the journey this evening, Pudsey

:01:10. > :01:16.arrived in style. He came down the river on a boat earlier and was

:01:17. > :01:21.greeted by the Reading Sea cadets, which was very nice. Of course, we

:01:21. > :01:26.are pleased to have Pudsey here. But I have a sneaky feeling he has

:01:26. > :01:30.only turned up to get a kiss from our lovely guest. Is that right? I

:01:30. > :01:40.thought so. Shall we welcome her, the very beautiful Katherine

:01:40. > :01:42.

:01:42. > :01:48.Jenkins. Hello. Lovely to see you. How are you? I am good. How are

:01:48. > :01:54.you? Good. Will you blow him a kiss? It is the only reason he has

:01:54. > :02:00.come. He has a happy boy. Earlier in the week, Monday or Tuesday, the

:02:00. > :02:04.rickshaw went past your home town, Neath. My mum told me. She was

:02:04. > :02:10.aware it was coming through. should have come out and put money

:02:10. > :02:15.in the bucket. They are inspirational, these teenagers.

:02:15. > :02:18.They are absolutely amazing. I have been so inspired by them, pushing

:02:18. > :02:22.themselves in such an incredible way, with everything they have

:02:22. > :02:27.already been through. Having to have all of the physio on top of

:02:27. > :02:31.all of this as well, it is amazing. I have been watching with a tear in

:02:31. > :02:35.my eye. We know what Team Rickshaw are doing but there are thousands

:02:35. > :02:40.of you all across the country doing your bit for Children In Need,

:02:40. > :02:43.whether it be sitting in a bath of baked beans, or a cake stall, lots

:02:44. > :02:48.of different stuff. We have a very special girl here tonight,

:02:48. > :02:54.Philomena. What strikes you about her is the beautiful flowing locks.

:02:54. > :03:03.Tonight, she is going to shave them all off in aid of Children In Need.

:03:03. > :03:11.Are you sure? Definitely. Yes. Michael Douglas is going to do the

:03:11. > :03:16.deed. Michael, go for it. The first step. I can't watch! The first step

:03:16. > :03:22.is with some scissors. I will just cut across. It is thicker than you

:03:22. > :03:30.think. It is such a shame. She has thick hair. It will grow back.

:03:30. > :03:38.Don't worry about it. There you go, Philomena. Say goodbye. Goodbye,

:03:38. > :03:43.hair. How do you feel? I feel all right. You look lovely light that,

:03:43. > :03:52.if it is any consolation. We will see the finished result later. Here

:03:52. > :03:55.is how day seven went for our Team Rickshaw. Day seven saw the riders

:03:55. > :04:02.leave Salisbury in the hope of travelling 51 miles to Reading.

:04:02. > :04:05.Jamila took the early morning shift. Everybody is excited that London is

:04:05. > :04:10.well within sight. The thing years, you don't want to take your eye off

:04:10. > :04:14.the ball because this is where things could go wrong. Only one

:04:14. > :04:19.hour in, and we were in trouble. A week of cycling had we can to the

:04:19. > :04:27.legs, and Jamila needed help. This is bordering on cruelty, but it is

:04:27. > :04:37.a good technique for Jamila. Come on, come on. Do me a favour? Can

:04:37. > :04:40.

:04:40. > :04:46.you read that sign. London, three miles. London is within reach. That

:04:46. > :04:53.was three miles to the motorway. How long have you been in that

:04:53. > :04:56.traffic jam? 45 minutes. And she gave a donation. Thank you. We have

:04:56. > :05:00.another one here. As the day unfolded, we got more

:05:00. > :05:10.donations on route, and we were given a warm welcome to reach town

:05:10. > :05:12.

:05:12. > :05:18.That is a lovely sound. After a day of rest, Kieran was back on the

:05:18. > :05:23.rickshaw. You look a lot brighter this morning. I am feeling a lot

:05:23. > :05:33.better. It was soon clear that we were all very happy to see him

:05:33. > :05:34.

:05:34. > :05:44.return to the saddle. You need to complete what you're trying to

:05:44. > :05:49.

:05:49. > :05:55.achieve. How do you keep the tears away? It has given me some more

:05:55. > :06:01.energy to continue. It is always really difficult in my mind, to

:06:01. > :06:06.know how hard to push him. Fatigue is setting in, door of the riders

:06:06. > :06:11.have their own physical ability. And to see their grit and

:06:11. > :06:15.determination, and to see them apply it to the pedals, and to this

:06:15. > :06:19.distance, it is incredibly inspiring. I am just delighted with

:06:19. > :06:24.how well they have got on with each other. For example, Lauren, she has

:06:24. > :06:28.really surprised me. You think, why shouldn't she be able to get on to

:06:28. > :06:32.bike and turn her legs and apply that determination from her

:06:32. > :06:36.everyday life to this. For Jack, this has reaffirmed his

:06:36. > :06:41.determination. He has learned the formula of him putting in an

:06:41. > :06:46.enormous amount of effort, and it being incredibly worthwhile. Every

:06:46. > :06:50.day, I can't wait for Kieran. I am incredibly surprised by what he has

:06:50. > :06:54.done physically. -- Ciaran. When he had his day off, he could not wait

:06:54. > :07:04.to come up to me and tell me how sorry he was that he felt he had

:07:04. > :07:06.

:07:06. > :07:11.not done his thing on that day. You watch him, and he is kind of... I

:07:11. > :07:19.think it is harder when you have got his dad alongside. You can only

:07:19. > :07:24.make comparisons as a father and think how proud he must be. And you

:07:24. > :07:30.think, for him, how much harder this is. His Co ordination, his

:07:30. > :07:35.tiredness. And yet he is battling against that. He is like, I am

:07:35. > :07:45.going to get on and do it. He never says, can I get off? He only says,

:07:45. > :07:46.

:07:46. > :07:50.can I do more miles? Lovely Matt. It has been hard for him because he

:07:50. > :07:54.has spent so much time with the youngsters. We were glad to get

:07:54. > :08:00.Ciaran back. I am joined by Lauren's mum. You have been with us

:08:00. > :08:04.for the whole thing. How has it been from your perspective? It has

:08:04. > :08:08.been great. I have witnessed first hand how the team has gelled

:08:08. > :08:14.together, got to know one another, and the friendship has grown over

:08:14. > :08:18.the last week. Has Lauren exceeded all of your expectations? You

:08:18. > :08:23.probably knew she would be able to do some of it, but she has done

:08:23. > :08:28.incredibly well. We were expecting maybe a couple of miles that she

:08:28. > :08:33.would manage out of the week. To do 2.5 on the first day, and 13.5 on

:08:33. > :08:38.Saturday, and about eight or nine on most days thereafter, it has

:08:38. > :08:42.been mind-blowing. She is loving every minute. How would you feel

:08:42. > :08:47.when you see her riding into Reading this evening? Holding back

:08:47. > :08:51.the tears. I have some tissues in my pocket. You will not have to

:08:51. > :09:01.wait long because Matt and Lauren are due around the corner any

:09:01. > :09:05.

:09:05. > :09:15.minute. Here they come. There you go. Stay there. Put the

:09:15. > :09:33.

:09:33. > :09:40.Ready? Are you UN clipped? 1, two, three. And off she comes. Brilliant.

:09:40. > :09:45.Argue OK? I am very well, thank you. You know the hospital where you

:09:45. > :09:51.were treated? In that ward, they have a television showing this

:09:51. > :10:01.programme tonight. No way. Do you have a message for all of the

:10:01. > :10:03.

:10:03. > :10:13.People award watching? -- all of the people on the ward. Hello, Ward

:10:13. > :10:18.

:10:19. > :10:28.seven. I hope everybody is doing all right. Please keep donating.

:10:28. > :10:35.And get well soon, everyone. Very good. Matt, how is the feeling in

:10:35. > :10:39.Team Rickshaw? There are some sore legs. Jamila, you did a mammoth job

:10:39. > :10:43.one Somerville's this morning but Lauren brought the team home

:10:43. > :10:52.beautifully. She has just powered on through the whole time on the

:10:52. > :10:58.bike. Can you believe we started this thing last Friday. This is the

:10:58. > :11:02.last night. It is a bit of mixed emotions. We have worked so hard

:11:02. > :11:06.throughout the week. But it is going to be ashamed to not see

:11:06. > :11:12.everyone again. Listen up, because it is the last day we do not want

:11:12. > :11:18.to be late, so we have two alarm clocks for the first possible two.

:11:18. > :11:22.James, you are one of them. And you, Jack. Always competitive. The

:11:22. > :11:32.question is, who will be starting? We will have a game of paper,

:11:32. > :11:33.

:11:33. > :11:39.scissors, stone. This is for the first rider tomorrow. There you go.

:11:39. > :11:42.Here we go, then. Let's get it done. And the thing is, Darren has had

:11:42. > :11:51.his bail compers gated because everybody thought it was making too

:11:51. > :11:56.much noise. -- he had his bell confiscated. So here you go. To

:11:56. > :12:03.show your support, you don't have to get on a bike. You only have to

:12:03. > :12:09.follow these instructions. Can you still talk? Let's tell everybody

:12:09. > :12:19.how they can give us their money. If you would like to donate 5, all

:12:19. > :12:38.

:12:38. > :12:43.you have to do his text the word He loves that bell. It is all we

:12:43. > :12:51.have heard all day. When I first got it for him, he put it on his

:12:51. > :12:56.white cane and he was ringing at the whole time. We will get a total

:12:56. > :13:01.later on. Katherine, you are very much getting into the spirit of

:13:02. > :13:08.Christmas with your new album, This Is Christmas. I have actually been

:13:08. > :13:11.making it since June. It has been Christmas all year for me. I was

:13:11. > :13:17.reading you on Twitter and you said you were in Malta recording your

:13:17. > :13:22.Christmas album. Did you make the studio look like Christmas? I had

:13:22. > :13:26.to. It was intensely hot. When you are a classical singer, you like to

:13:26. > :13:32.sing later in the day. So I would do a bit of sunbathing in the

:13:32. > :13:36.morning. The life of Katherine Jenkins! And then I would go to

:13:36. > :13:42.Santa's grotto. I had a Christmas tree, fairy lights, candles, the

:13:42. > :13:48.whole lot. How else would I get into the spirit? Did you have a

:13:48. > :13:56.glass of sherry before you started? I did not. This is you, looking and

:13:56. > :14:06.sounding as if you are in the North Pole.

:14:06. > :14:10.

:14:10. > :14:20.# Away in a manger no crib for a bed. #

:14:20. > :14:34.

:14:34. > :14:39.You are taking that on tour leading up to Christmas. Next week, I go to

:14:39. > :14:42.America to go on tour. And I am finishing the year with a big UK

:14:42. > :14:49.tour, and I'm looking forward to that because I have been away so

:14:49. > :14:58.much. It is lovely to be home and finish the year back. Christmas in

:14:58. > :15:02.Neath? Absolutely. We have a date in Las Vegas, so I am looking

:15:02. > :15:09.forward to that. But I will be back in London at the Royal Albert Hall,

:15:09. > :15:15.in Belfast, Dublin and across the UK. It is going to be lovely.

:15:15. > :15:19.of Team Rickshaw, Jamila, who is over there, she is an aspiring

:15:19. > :15:25.singer-songwriter. She loves to dance and act. We thought it would

:15:25. > :15:33.be nice if you could have a chat, because you are actually in panto.

:15:33. > :15:37.Man in Jack and the Beanstalk. you enjoying it? Years. Just

:15:37. > :15:41.remember that everybody in the audience wants you to do well.

:15:41. > :15:45.Enjoy the opportunity and remember it is supposed to be good fun as

:15:45. > :15:49.well. Don't let the nerds get the better of you. Go out and enjoy it

:15:49. > :15:56.and you will shine your best. But do not let nerves get the better of

:15:56. > :16:04.you. Give us some idea of what code seven years, how it works and how

:16:04. > :16:07.it has helped you. It is an organisation for young people who

:16:07. > :16:11.are interested in music and media. They can go and explore their

:16:11. > :16:19.talents and it keeps them off the streets. That is somewhere they can

:16:19. > :16:25.feel safe but the creative. long have you been involved.

:16:25. > :16:35.started when I was 15. Cycling for now and then back to panto. I have

:16:35. > :16:40.been trying to get you to sing but There we are.

:16:40. > :16:43.We are moving on. Katherine's album, this This Is

:16:44. > :16:51.Christmas, is out on the 25th of December.

:16:51. > :16:57.The tour starts on the 9th. Jam I willa, when does your panto start?

:16:57. > :17:06.It starts on the 11th of December. Now, the families now what it is

:17:06. > :17:10.like to have fair dogs around them 24 /7. Now Jon Culshaw is

:17:10. > :17:13.encouraging people to take their pets to work, all in aid of

:17:13. > :17:17.Children In Need. This is one of the many call

:17:17. > :17:21.centres taking calls and donations from the public for Children In

:17:21. > :17:29.Need tomorrow night, but for one day only, there are a few extra

:17:29. > :17:34.members of staff. This Take Your Dog To Work day is

:17:34. > :17:41.in aid of Children In Need, dogs in a call centre. What could possibly

:17:41. > :17:44.go wrong? # Who let the dogs out. # The staff

:17:44. > :17:48.are rehearsing for the big night. Thank you very much for the

:17:48. > :17:52.donation. As if they don't have enough to

:17:52. > :17:58.distract them, I will test out the telephone technique.

:17:58. > :18:03.Well, they seem at home in there, we thought we would would give them

:18:03. > :18:10.a little surprise. Me and my best friend, Sam here. They have no idea,

:18:10. > :18:18.but before I make my presence known, time for a few phone calls. I'm

:18:18. > :18:25.calling from the Aintree Racecourse, I understand it is the national

:18:25. > :18:34.Bring Your Dog to Work day today? Yes it is.

:18:34. > :18:41.Over on the half side, he is gone! It is busy here.

:18:41. > :18:47.Oh, Jon has taken the bone off me. Who would have thought that me,

:18:47. > :18:52.John Birb op would be coming here to congratulate you for taking the

:18:52. > :18:58.calls. That is why it is nice to see you, to see you, nice. You are

:18:58. > :19:04.still my favourite! So on the big Children In Need night, how do you

:19:04. > :19:10.describe the buzz? Electric. Absolutely electric. The staff here

:19:10. > :19:14.come in, and everybody goes away saying it is the best night they

:19:14. > :19:18.have ever had. Not content with handling all of

:19:18. > :19:24.the calls on Children In Need, the staff are off to do some phrasing

:19:24. > :19:28.on their own. Now it is time to take the dogs for a trip into Derry,

:19:28. > :19:37.to see if they can inspire the locals with a bit of money all for

:19:37. > :19:41.Children In Need. Here we go! Puds si has even turned up and so have -

:19:41. > :19:45.- Pudsey has turned up, so have lots of local kids to show their

:19:45. > :19:51.support. The bucket is getting heavy. This is what we like. By the

:19:51. > :19:59.end of that we raised about 150, all for Children In Need! What a

:19:59. > :20:03.great idea! It is. Now, earlier on we met the very

:20:03. > :20:08.brave Philomena Dineen, who I think is absolutely nuts. You are about

:20:08. > :20:12.to shave all your hair off in aid of a very good cause, which is

:20:12. > :20:17.Children In Need, of course. You have a great bob, you could leave

:20:17. > :20:20.it there, but are we going to persist and go for it? I think we

:20:20. > :20:26.should go on. It is not the perfect weather for

:20:26. > :20:33.it? I am freezing. It will shock me. Let's go ahead.

:20:33. > :20:41.Now it will grow back at 0 .3 5 millimetres a month! Straight down

:20:41. > :20:45.the middle! Shall I stop? Katherine?! I'm so amazed by your

:20:45. > :20:51.bravery, but she has such a beautiful face, you will carry it

:20:51. > :20:56.off. You will look gorgeous. That is lovely, leave that on the

:20:56. > :21:00.side. Just to leave it like that? It

:21:00. > :21:04.looks good! Have you ever had this done before? No! I would never do

:21:04. > :21:09.this, ever. Your best friend Georgia is here

:21:09. > :21:15.tonight. She has beautiful hair as well. What was your reaction when

:21:15. > :21:20.fill Meena said she would do this? We were all so shocked but we knew

:21:20. > :21:26.that Philomena Dineen was the best to do it. She is very brave.

:21:26. > :21:32.You do look lovely. You do! George, I think you are

:21:32. > :21:42.going to be brushing your hair in front of her! That is looking great.

:21:42. > :21:48.Shall we look at the before and after... What do you think? Wow!

:21:48. > :21:55.like it! Listen, I honestly think you should show that off it looks

:21:55. > :21:59.great, but if you get cold, love, I have had this hat on for the last

:21:59. > :22:04.two nights, here you go. You are very brave to do it, but

:22:04. > :22:11.how much money have you raised as a result of tonight? I was looking

:22:11. > :22:16.for about 200, but I have raised about 150 when I last looked.

:22:16. > :22:23.And your hair is going to a special cause? It is going to a charity

:22:23. > :22:26.called the Little Princess' Trust. It will be made for a wig for a

:22:26. > :22:31.little girl who has lost their hair through cancer.

:22:31. > :22:36.That is lovely. In the past seven days we have gotten to now Team GB

:22:36. > :22:43.tem so well. -- Team Rickshaw so well. Before

:22:43. > :22:51.they push into London, let's remind ourselves of their families.

:22:51. > :22:56.This is me, darn, with my sister, mum and dad and not to forget my

:22:56. > :23:03.dog. I have an eye condition.

:23:03. > :23:06.My mum has eye problems as well. We are living with people with worse

:23:06. > :23:12.sight, so I need to be their eyes as well.

:23:12. > :23:18.I went up the hill. I got back on my bike after I got up the hill as

:23:18. > :23:25.I was so tired. Hi, I'm Lauren. This picture is

:23:25. > :23:33.called Alone. It is an emotion I was feeling because I had no

:23:33. > :23:40.friends. Everybody distanced themselves after my accident.

:23:40. > :23:43.From not having friends to people shouting my name! It really does

:23:44. > :23:53.something to you. You don't have words to describe

:23:54. > :23:54.

:23:54. > :24:00.how much it means. Hi, I'm jam I willa, welcome to my

:24:00. > :24:07.house. -- jam Ilya, welcome to my house. When I go to pie house I

:24:07. > :24:13.feel self-conscious. You see a gang and you don't want to be near there,

:24:13. > :24:17.or near them. It wants you to stay at home and you feel isolated and

:24:17. > :24:23.alone. I'm Jack, I am 16 years old. I live

:24:23. > :24:29.in Romford with my dad and sister. When I was born I was diagnosed

:24:29. > :24:35.with a genetic syndrome. At 18 months old both kidneys were

:24:36. > :24:39.removed. I then had a kidney transplant. My om pigs was to

:24:39. > :24:46.become a firefighter. Having a donated organ does not make a

:24:46. > :24:56.difference to what you can do. name is James. Since I was four,

:24:56. > :25:01.five, I became a carer. I help my sister who is autistic and my mum

:25:01. > :25:08.has a mental illness. I want to promote young carers. I

:25:08. > :25:15.think it would be a good achievement to complete this.

:25:15. > :25:24.My name is Ciaran Fitzgerald. Just because I have cerebral palsy

:25:24. > :25:30.doesn't mean that I can't push myself as hard as someone who is

:25:30. > :25:40.able-bodied. I feel really proud of myself. So
