0:00:17 > 0:00:19Hello and welcome to The One Show with Matt Baker.
0:00:19 > 0:00:20And Alex Jones.
0:00:20 > 0:00:23And tonight we're joined by the high-octane, full-throttle
0:00:23 > 0:00:26presenters of the nation's favourite car show.
0:00:26 > 0:00:28Self-confessed petrolheads who spend their days
0:00:28 > 0:00:31pushing the flashiest cars to the very limit.
0:00:31 > 0:00:37Honestly, boys and their toys.
0:00:41 > 0:00:51Who says we don't do serious car reviews?How good is that?Doing the
0:00:51 > 0:01:01dance in the car? A little bit!
0:01:02 > 0:01:08That, my friend... Is an ash!
0:01:08 > 0:01:09Please welcome Matt LeBlanc and Chris Harris!
0:01:09 > 0:01:17APPLAUSE.
0:01:20 > 0:01:31Good to see you. Chris, how are you? I am good.Somebody is missing?
0:01:31 > 0:01:36Somebody had to stay behind, he is shooting extra gear.He is the one
0:01:36 > 0:01:45who works harder? He does the heavy lifting. We know where Stig is. He
0:01:45 > 0:01:52is catwalk modelling for the Queen at Fashion Week! Only joking, he is
0:01:52 > 0:01:56with us and we will let him in a little bit earlier but not just at
0:01:56 > 0:02:01the moment, keeping a close eye on things. We can see you driving these
0:02:01 > 0:02:05lavish, exciting cars but in real life, when you're off, what do you
0:02:05 > 0:02:14drive? Matt?On your ranch? On the ranch I usually drive some kind of
0:02:14 > 0:02:22tractor but were kindred spirits. In real life, I have a Mercedes SUV. Or
0:02:22 > 0:02:28a Porsche.
0:02:28 > 0:02:35a Porsche.This could go on for some time!What about Chris? I have a
0:02:35 > 0:02:40Mercedes coupe with a big engine which is very comfortable and I feel
0:02:40 > 0:02:45like I have not driven.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49like I have not driven.This man is downplaying his car collection.He
0:02:49 > 0:02:55has got everything! I have a side issue in that I cannot stop buying
0:02:55 > 0:03:01cars! I have a lot of rubbish that depreciates rapidly! Plenty of
0:03:01 > 0:03:06choice. I like my old French cars. We have seen you in your Citroen two
0:03:06 > 0:03:13CV. When cars are you they have this lovely smell but people tend to let
0:03:13 > 0:03:23them get messy.Like you, with your? My old Land Rover is a farm vehicle,
0:03:23 > 0:03:29this is this morning, some sheep feed and jump leads. You bought that
0:03:29 > 0:03:35from working? It has its working clothes on, I like to say. There is
0:03:35 > 0:03:38a lot of sandwiches. I didn't take a picture of the back because it is
0:03:38 > 0:03:40horrific!
0:03:40 > 0:03:43Well, on that, we'd like to hear from you tonight.
0:03:43 > 0:03:45Because as a nation we're notorious for being house proud -
0:03:45 > 0:03:48but do you treat your cars with the same TLC?
0:03:48 > 0:03:50Yes, we want to see Britain's messiest motor tonight.
0:03:50 > 0:03:54Take a quick photo and send it our way and make sure you tell us
0:03:54 > 0:03:57who's responsible for all the filth!
0:03:57 > 0:03:59Name and shame!
0:03:59 > 0:04:01Lots more to come tonight, including the mums who'll be
0:04:01 > 0:04:03joining me to take on not one but five gruelling
0:04:03 > 0:04:06challenges for Sport Relief.
0:04:06 > 0:04:10I will give you a round of applause already!
0:04:10 > 0:04:13APPLAUSE.
0:04:13 > 0:04:16We're calling it The Mother Of All Challenges and you can see
0:04:16 > 0:04:18what's in store for us all a little later.
0:04:18 > 0:04:21And we've the perfect music to gee you all along on your challenge.
0:04:21 > 0:04:23Performing Running to the Future from the new movie
0:04:23 > 0:04:25Finding Your Feet, Elkie Brooks performs live at
0:04:25 > 0:04:26the end of the show.
0:04:26 > 0:04:32APPLAUSE.
0:04:32 > 0:04:34You might be one of the 135,000 who have already
0:04:34 > 0:04:36bought an electric car.
0:04:36 > 0:04:38But there's another environmentally-friendly alternative
0:04:38 > 0:04:40coming just around the corner.
0:04:40 > 0:04:44One manufacturer is flying the flag for the UK in where else but Wales.
0:04:44 > 0:04:51And Lucy's been to see their brand new green machine.
0:04:55 > 0:04:59The British car industry is famous all over the world. Around a quarter
0:04:59 > 0:05:04of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions are from transport. So the industry
0:05:04 > 0:05:09is under pressure to change, like never before. We have already got
0:05:09 > 0:05:13electric cars and hybrid cars as alternatives to petrol and diesel
0:05:13 > 0:05:21but we are also starting to see some cars powered by hydrogen.I am in
0:05:21 > 0:05:24Llandrindod Wells two small company with big ambitions to take on the
0:05:24 > 0:05:32motoring giants with their revolutionary hydrogen powered car.
0:05:32 > 0:05:37Backed by funding from the EU, the Welsh Government and a crowdfunding
0:05:37 > 0:05:41campaign, this is the Rasa, a two seater car for those short local
0:05:41 > 0:05:47journeys. The company founder is Hugo Spowers. What are you doing the
0:05:47 > 0:05:53Giants are not?We have made the car lighter, carbon fibre, made to last
0:05:53 > 0:05:59longer and we have no gearbox and an electric motor in each wheel. Is
0:05:59 > 0:06:03this exorbitantly expensive? We hope we will never sell a car. I would
0:06:03 > 0:06:08not only that? You would buy a service contract like a mobile phone
0:06:08 > 0:06:13and you pay a monthly direct debit that covers everything. The customer
0:06:13 > 0:06:19fills this with hydrogen but the bill comes to us, you're talking
0:06:19 > 0:06:24about £370 per month and 18p every mile. There are about 15 filling
0:06:24 > 0:06:27stations in the country at the moment so building and intercity
0:06:27 > 0:06:32capable motorway car needs a few hundred filling stations but if the
0:06:32 > 0:06:37car is for local use you can create a market with one filling station.
0:06:37 > 0:06:41Riversimple's mission is to eliminate the environmental costs of
0:06:41 > 0:06:45personal transport. The Rasa is a result of 15 years of research by a
0:06:45 > 0:06:49team including ex-Formula one and aerospace engineers. Andre Bird is
0:06:49 > 0:06:53head of research and development at the workshop. This is a hydrogen
0:06:53 > 0:07:01fuel cell.It is tiny. It produces 8.5 kilowatts of power, from zero to
0:07:01 > 0:07:0760 mph in 9.6 seconds and this is capped at 60 mph. Will that put
0:07:07 > 0:07:13people off? The car is designed as a two seater Robert Allen use and I
0:07:13 > 0:07:18hate to think of anybody getting to 60 mph in the town. Before it can be
0:07:18 > 0:07:24released, 20 will be trialled by 100 volunteers around the time of
0:07:24 > 0:07:31Abergavenny. Feedback will influence the final design. We have invited
0:07:31 > 0:07:35one of the test drivers here for a driving lesson in the prototype.
0:07:35 > 0:07:38Karen Harris, a retired head teacher, is about to become the
0:07:38 > 0:07:44first member of the public to drive it. This is the only Rasa in the
0:07:44 > 0:07:47world.How do you feel about the responsibility? Somewhat
0:07:47 > 0:07:55apprehensive.Shelby get going? Don't worry, Andre will be with you
0:07:55 > 0:08:04every step of the way.Off we go! Once Andre has found a quiet road
0:08:04 > 0:08:09for a current practice on, it is time to swap over.Select forward.
0:08:09 > 0:08:20Handbrake off.Their OBR. My gosh! Fantastic. Smooth! This is a nice
0:08:20 > 0:08:25driving position.Being low to the ground is great fun and it is very
0:08:25 > 0:08:32agile.Going around the corners, you feel quite safe. The lightweight
0:08:32 > 0:08:37Rasa weighs roughly half as much as a Volkswagen golf and does the
0:08:37 > 0:08:42equivalent of 250 miles to the gallon.But the foot down a little
0:08:42 > 0:08:50bit harder.The exhilaration, my gosh, is really good. --
0:08:50 > 0:09:00acceleration.Here they come.How was that? Absolutely fantastic.
0:09:00 > 0:09:04Brilliant to drive.And so nippy. You looked genuinely thrilled? I
0:09:04 > 0:09:11cannot wait to have one to drive again. It has to be the way to go.
0:09:11 > 0:09:17So the Rasa gets the thumbs up. It is a huge idea from a tiny company,
0:09:17 > 0:09:25will it be a success? The One Show will find out what happens.
0:09:25 > 0:09:30Any film that will get the boys talking. You are in opposition with
0:09:30 > 0:09:38hydrogen and electric, who wants to go first?I can see this being a
0:09:38 > 0:09:41part of the future, especially hydrogen, it is a wonderful resource
0:09:41 > 0:09:46but you need a lot of geothermal energy to produce it in liquid form
0:09:46 > 0:09:50and fitness storage so electricity and hydrogen, it is not about
0:09:50 > 0:09:56whether it works, it does, but we need new infrastructure so somebody
0:09:56 > 0:10:02has to build the tanks, who pays for it? The car-makers? Government?
0:10:02 > 0:10:08Probably not. It looks difficult but I love the idea of clean...That has
0:10:08 > 0:10:13to be where it is going? It is still a combustion engine and the
0:10:13 > 0:10:21by-product is water. You cannot run down the 7-11 and get some hydrogen.
0:10:21 > 0:10:29And storage, that is basically like an explosive in the car that stores
0:10:29 > 0:10:34hydrogen. They have been trying to jump-start hydrogen cars for a while
0:10:34 > 0:10:40but storing, at the place where you go to buy it, that is a very big
0:10:40 > 0:10:49tank, so that is a very big bomb. I think the future is electric.
0:10:49 > 0:10:53Battery technology will get there and maybe solar panels on the roof.
0:10:53 > 0:10:58But you have to make electricity and in this country... That is oil
0:10:58 > 0:11:08fired.If the car has got solar, the entire body, it can make its only --
0:11:08 > 0:11:15its own energy.You know about the weather over here?So it's not quite
0:11:15 > 0:11:24as pure as at my house!Don't fall out! We were just about to ask about
0:11:24 > 0:11:29your chemistry!
0:11:29 > 0:11:32your chemistry! Sunday sees the start of the current line-up and
0:11:32 > 0:11:36there was a lot of fuss, will they get on? In terms of friendship. We
0:11:36 > 0:11:43had that when we started, and you don't know each other. But by now,
0:11:43 > 0:11:48have you settled into a groove together? Is a relationship forming,
0:11:48 > 0:11:56do you go for beers?Do you want to hold hands for this next part?!
0:11:56 > 0:12:02Maggie said, in the beginning, will we get along? We didn't know either.
0:12:02 > 0:12:06You want to get along because it is better for the show. But it turns
0:12:06 > 0:12:10out we get along really well. We have a lot of laughs, half the stuff
0:12:10 > 0:12:14we come up with we cannot say on television so we're getting along
0:12:14 > 0:12:19great.Absolutely and Top Gear, if you are not enjoying making it there
0:12:19 > 0:12:24is no joy in the end product so we have to have fun making it. It is
0:12:24 > 0:12:28very strange. As a child of the 90s, watching him on television, I did
0:12:28 > 0:12:35not think I would become Friends with Joey!Whenever you go, on your
0:12:35 > 0:12:40travels, you are celebrating those countries.We're having a good time.
0:12:40 > 0:12:47The culture. Cars are everywhere. Transportation, even. We did a film
0:12:47 > 0:12:53in Sri Lanka driving Doctors the whole time and we had a blast. And
0:12:53 > 0:13:03they are huge part of the culture. -- tuk-tuks. Does it feel British or
0:13:03 > 0:13:09global? Top Gear goes all over the world from your perspective? It
0:13:09 > 0:13:15depends on which part of the show were working on, making the films,
0:13:15 > 0:13:18it feels global. When we get back into the studio to do the voice-over
0:13:18 > 0:13:24parts and stuff, and we go back and forth with the producer on Ranj
0:13:24 > 0:13:34Singh aluminium. -- on pronouncing aluminium.A lot of the humour comes
0:13:34 > 0:13:41from that, the divide between the UK and America? One thing you do not
0:13:41 > 0:13:47disagree on, well, you do, is Bigfoot. You take Chris into the
0:13:47 > 0:13:52sticks and you are like, it is a thing?I first realised it was a
0:13:52 > 0:13:57problem like this when I was at his ranch in the summer and I saw a
0:13:57 > 0:14:01little face sticking out of a planned part and it was a little
0:14:01 > 0:14:07Bigfoot. Clearly the Bigfoot thing is an issue.Yes, I get a kick out
0:14:07 > 0:14:13of him!You went out into the sticks...We have a photograph.
0:14:13 > 0:14:22Northern California, to try to find him. That looks fun!
0:14:22 > 0:14:24him.That looks fun!We have a picture of you dressed up as
0:14:24 > 0:14:36Bigfoot.Can we see that?There you are! That is camouflage.What has
0:14:36 > 0:14:42happened, we have the quickfire round of things. Most competitive?
0:14:42 > 0:14:54Rory. Probably Rory.Definitely. The most likely to be caught
0:14:54 > 0:15:04speeding...?Rory.Caught speeding? I am most likely to get away with
0:15:04 > 0:15:11it! He is most likely to be caught! Most likely distil under pressure?
0:15:11 > 0:15:19That would be Rory.-- to stall. Which has the best taste in cars.It
0:15:19 > 0:15:27is not Rory.We have quite similar tastes. There is a particular
0:15:27 > 0:15:32manufacturer in Stuttgart that makes a car with an engine in the back and
0:15:32 > 0:15:38we like them. Ultimately, I own a 1957 Citroen two CV so that trumps
0:15:38 > 0:15:48anyone!I have a big forward delete, but the two seater in the back. The
0:15:48 > 0:15:51unbelievable thing happens in the series with the massive crate of
0:15:51 > 0:15:56eggs. I cannot believe you did this with a car that you love so much.
0:15:56 > 0:16:04Have a look.
0:16:04 > 0:16:11What is happening?Whose idea was this?
0:16:11 > 0:16:14this?So, when Andre Citroen design... I can still smell that
0:16:14 > 0:16:21now. When he designed the car, he had some very strict design criteria
0:16:21 > 0:16:25and one was it had to be driven at around 40 miles an hour over a
0:16:25 > 0:16:30likely ploughed field with a basket of eggs on the lap of the passenger
0:16:30 > 0:16:36in the car, so the suspension was soft and subtle enough. There are
0:16:36 > 0:16:41three or four other bizarre claims, involving livestock and things. So
0:16:41 > 0:16:46they tested the design criteria in the car.On all actual parts of the
0:16:46 > 0:16:53design brief of the car, they were written in there. That was one of
0:16:53 > 0:16:57them. They were supposed to have 12 eggs. He had 400 anti-tipped them
0:16:57 > 0:17:03all on me.But the car handled the bumpy field with a basket of eggs
0:17:03 > 0:17:10and none of them were breaking. So I thought it would be fun...This
0:17:10 > 0:17:20would be good television! That was the best laugh ever on camera. It
0:17:20 > 0:17:27was funny, but the poor car. The egg got into the rails and it went rank.
0:17:27 > 0:17:33When I took it out of the garage three weeks later, it was horrible.
0:17:33 > 0:17:39And Stig has been round Adam's farm in Countryfile, and he has been
0:17:39 > 0:17:45trying attractive. You can see that on March the 25th. There he is just
0:17:45 > 0:17:55reminiscing. Good day down on the farm. With all the miles you do, you
0:17:55 > 0:17:59probably fancy a drive through now and then. If it is fried chicken,
0:17:59 > 0:18:05you may have to put more miles on the clock.
0:18:05 > 0:18:08A delivery mix-up has disappointed hundreds of hungry fried
0:18:08 > 0:18:09chicken fans this week, and the hysteria has
0:18:09 > 0:18:11left us wondering - can the country cope
0:18:11 > 0:18:12without the colonel?
0:18:12 > 0:18:14Here's Iwan.
0:18:14 > 0:18:21It was devastating. It was like the apocalypse.I was shocked because it
0:18:21 > 0:18:28was closed.I was suffering a bad hangover and I chose Subway over KFC
0:18:28 > 0:18:34and it was serious.
0:18:34 > 0:18:37and it was serious.Over 600, have run out of chicken. That is no
0:18:37 > 0:18:41finger licking good. It is the biggest problem KFC have ever had.
0:18:41 > 0:18:46They have been a high-street stable since 1965 when they opened their
0:18:46 > 0:18:50first store in Preston. Problems began last Wednesday when they
0:18:50 > 0:19:00switched the distributor. KFC changed its applied to DFL.There
0:19:00 > 0:19:03were not a lot of lorries and drivers, so there was a lot of
0:19:03 > 0:19:10chicken stuck in the warehouse. And as the chicken ran dry, stories
0:19:10 > 0:19:15began to close and people took to social media with the hash tag KFC
0:19:15 > 0:19:21crisis. Disgruntled customers were calling the police who asked them to
0:19:21 > 0:19:26stop. We have come to my lender to see what the public make of this.
0:19:26 > 0:19:32What do you know about the KFC crisis? I eat it as well. Will you
0:19:32 > 0:19:39get through it?Yes, I will. Does the chicken situation bother you?It
0:19:39 > 0:19:44might be healthier for people.May be it is a good thing to get people
0:19:44 > 0:19:52off fast food.Is cooking an option? Yes, it is. For the competitors this
0:19:52 > 0:20:01is good news.It is good news for Burger King and all the small chain
0:20:01 > 0:20:06shops.They are getting a lot of customers. Will we look back on this
0:20:06 > 0:20:12and say, 2018, the great chicken shortage?Forget Brexit, this was
0:20:12 > 0:20:21the crisis.Delivery time and KFC and chicken. But, thankfully, my
0:20:21 > 0:20:27lender is now one of the stores off the closed list. I am satisfied I
0:20:27 > 0:20:31finally got what I have been craving.I got my hot wings, so it
0:20:31 > 0:20:36is all good.Bless them.
0:20:36 > 0:20:37Bless them.
0:20:37 > 0:20:40Right, welcome to The One Show car lot, guys, because it's time
0:20:40 > 0:20:43to put your motoring knowledge to the test in a little
0:20:43 > 0:20:45game we like to call Who Do You Think You Car?
0:20:45 > 0:20:50The idea is as simple as they come.
0:20:50 > 0:20:55All you need to do is match the owner to the vehicle they drive.
0:20:55 > 0:20:58And these are the first three cars you've got to play with.
0:20:58 > 0:21:02Car one is a 1908 steam-powered Stanley.
0:21:02 > 0:21:05Car two is a true original - affectionately known as Cosmotron.
0:21:05 > 0:21:13And car three is a Fiat 500 revamped to look like an Abarth 695.
0:21:15 > 0:21:24It's called Freddie I think.But who owns these cars?
0:21:24 > 0:21:24Alan from Hertfordshire.
0:21:24 > 0:21:25Basil from Norwich.
0:21:25 > 0:21:33Kathy from south-east London.
0:21:33 > 0:21:36All you have to do is match the cars to the owners.
0:21:36 > 0:21:42All you have to do is match the cars to the owners.
0:21:42 > 0:21:52I always think it is good to look at footwear. The Oxford brogue. How do
0:21:52 > 0:21:57you feel about yellow?
0:21:59 > 0:22:03you feel about yellow?OK, so if you stand by your actual cars, that
0:22:03 > 0:22:10would be fantastic. Let's see how right the boys are.Completely and
0:22:10 > 0:22:20utterly wrong!That could have gone anywhere.Let's go and speak to
0:22:20 > 0:22:39Basel. What is the story? This is and 1908 Stanley steam car.
0:22:39 > 0:22:44and 1908 Stanley steam car. It is equivalent to 1800 horsepower. There
0:22:44 > 0:22:50is a boiler under the bonnet, or the hood as you call it. The fire boils
0:22:50 > 0:22:55the water and generates the steam. Steam and then goes towards the
0:22:55 > 0:23:05engine, but via the fire. That super heats the steam. We are going to
0:23:05 > 0:23:11have trouble shutting you up.Yes, we are. The engine is coupled to the
0:23:11 > 0:23:18axle and there are no gears and no clutch.Does it see the road much?
0:23:18 > 0:23:23Do you drive it?It is clean as a whistle. We did 1000 miles in
0:23:23 > 0:23:31America last year.Basil, you can keep chatting if you want.Let's go
0:23:31 > 0:23:37to Alex. It is so lovely that you have brought these cars end. Cosmo
0:23:37 > 0:23:50looks like Penelope pit stop's car. Is it a hurry? It is him its
0:23:50 > 0:23:59omission Mark it is handbuilt in the UK by a guy called Paul Bacon. Is
0:23:59 > 0:24:05that the real V8? It is a fake top. How do people react when you pull up
0:24:05 > 0:24:11at the supermarket?I have not got to the supermarket, but at the
0:24:11 > 0:24:19petrol station they do.How can you see over that? You just look past
0:24:19 > 0:24:27it. He is beautiful.Alan cannot believe that the Stig is in his car.
0:24:27 > 0:24:33What is the story with this? How did you end up with it?I have always
0:24:33 > 0:24:39been a fan of Fiat 500 and we got married in 1973 and I bought one to
0:24:39 > 0:24:45teach my wife had to drive. She changes gear better than me. We got
0:24:45 > 0:24:50one after the other until we had three up until 1984. I was building
0:24:50 > 0:24:58a house and I paid somebody to take it away. It was crazy. All
0:24:58 > 0:25:06originals?Yes, all originals. This one we got a few years ago from a
0:25:06 > 0:25:09chap who had completely restored it. That was 20 years ago and it still
0:25:09 > 0:25:18looks fresh. The good news is we are going to have another round of this.
0:25:18 > 0:25:22Stay tuned for the second part.
0:25:22 > 0:25:25It isn't just fast cars and crazy vehicles that we're celebrating
0:25:25 > 0:25:26on the show tonight.
0:25:26 > 0:25:28It's time to introduce you to an impressive bit
0:25:28 > 0:25:30of microscopic engineering that's helping to revolutionise
0:25:30 > 0:25:38the treatment of heart failure.
0:25:39 > 0:25:4353-year-old Jeff Wales has spent most of his adult life working on
0:25:43 > 0:25:48the railways in Kent.16 years as a train conductor, endless trips to
0:25:48 > 0:25:55London, how many thousands of miles have I travel?Who knows? Good days.
0:25:55 > 0:25:59Jeff and his wife Lynne have been together for 20 years and with a
0:25:59 > 0:26:02grown-up family they were looking forward to enjoying the future
0:26:02 > 0:26:07together. But last year their life took a different turn.He had time
0:26:07 > 0:26:12booked off from work for the weekend and we thought of going to Wales to
0:26:12 > 0:26:17see some family.On the second day I had chest pains. Being a man I
0:26:17 > 0:26:22decided to wait until I came home two days later before I said to my
0:26:22 > 0:26:29wife, I have some pain.That was the first I knew of it.Jeff was
0:26:29 > 0:26:33suffering from heart failure. That happens when the heart is unable to
0:26:33 > 0:26:37pump blood around the body and it leads to tiredness, shortness of
0:26:37 > 0:26:43breath and swelling of the ankles and if untreated it can be fatal. If
0:26:43 > 0:26:52I had not gone, I would be dead. This is Jeff's consultant. He has
0:26:52 > 0:26:57what we call cardiomyopathy and the muscle does not pump enough around
0:26:57 > 0:27:03the body. They believe a virus caused this failure. He was fitted
0:27:03 > 0:27:07with a pacemaker soon after diagnosis but his condition means it
0:27:07 > 0:27:12is only able to pump one side of his heart and it began to be out of
0:27:12 > 0:27:19sync. It all looks pretty random, the movement of the left ventricle.
0:27:19 > 0:27:23This is the inherent problem when one part is contracting and the
0:27:23 > 0:27:27other part can be moving out, so it leads to a very inefficient pumping
0:27:27 > 0:27:31function. It is likely it could get worse over time and that would
0:27:31 > 0:27:37reduce his life span. The damage to Jeff's heart is so great, all
0:27:37 > 0:27:42conventional treatments have been exhausted. Time is running out and
0:27:42 > 0:27:46everyday becomes bigger struggle. Just walking up a couple of flights
0:27:46 > 0:27:52of stairs and any exertion causes problems.A year ago our life was
0:27:52 > 0:27:58very different. I feel we are living the lifestyle of my parents now.It
0:27:58 > 0:28:03has been hard for Jeff and limb to accept, especially as Jeff's dad has
0:28:03 > 0:28:10to do the jobs Jeff no longer can.I don't ask often because it is a bit
0:28:10 > 0:28:26of a burden on him.You have got to do it, he is my son. Yeah.I don't
0:28:26 > 0:28:31care about who does the gardening and the decorating, I just worry if
0:28:31 > 0:28:34he will still be there.Now this ground-breaking device is offering
0:28:34 > 0:28:40help. It is a stimulating system which doctors help will
0:28:40 > 0:28:45resynchronise his heart. It is the size of a grain of rice, so small
0:28:45 > 0:28:50that it can be placed inside the heart. We put the device into the
0:28:50 > 0:28:54muscle. There is a little needle and some barbs and an ultrasound
0:28:54 > 0:29:00transmitter activates the device to electrically stimulate the heart.
0:29:00 > 0:29:06Today, Jeff is back in hospital for the device to be fitted. He is the
0:29:06 > 0:29:10first person to have the latest generation of transmitter. If it
0:29:10 > 0:29:15works, it could transform his life, but it is not without risk.In
0:29:15 > 0:29:19theory the device could fly off into the heart or another part of the
0:29:19 > 0:29:25circulation. That is why we take a lot of time to make sure it is
0:29:25 > 0:29:29correctly deployed and the chance of that happening is very small. We
0:29:29 > 0:29:32have not experienced that complication.Jeff is very young for
0:29:32 > 0:29:36this procedure. The fact he's young and apart from his heart problem,
0:29:36 > 0:29:41the rest of him is in pretty good nick and we are hopeful that if we
0:29:41 > 0:29:46resynchronise the heart, that Jeff will do very well.I think about the
0:29:46 > 0:29:51risk, Jeff does not, but the benefits far outweigh the risk. We
0:29:51 > 0:29:57have got so many things we want to do.It is worth a chance. The device
0:29:57 > 0:30:03has only become available recently. A year ago, two years ago it was not
0:30:03 > 0:30:08an option. We are very fortunate.
0:30:08 > 0:30:09We are very fortunate.
0:30:09 > 0:30:12And you can see how Jeff got on with his operation
0:30:12 > 0:30:14a little later in the show.
0:30:14 > 0:30:17Right it's the moment that Alex has been dreading,
0:30:17 > 0:30:21because once I finish reading this, there really is no going back!
0:30:21 > 0:30:23In March, Alex will lead a team of mums in a challenge
0:30:23 > 0:30:26for Sport Relief, but it isn't any old challenge,
0:30:26 > 0:30:29it's The Mother Of All Challenges!
0:30:29 > 0:30:37Before she has time to back out, let's see what's in store.
0:30:40 > 0:30:48I feel sick. To be honest.
0:30:48 > 0:30:53So many of us mums are struggling and it is all right to get help,
0:30:53 > 0:30:57that will bring us together.I wanted to do something to make me
0:30:57 > 0:31:02feel like myself again.Don't let other people tell you cannot do
0:31:02 > 0:31:06something, you can.I don't want just to prove that I am not that
0:31:06 > 0:31:11person any more.I don't know, I am more worried about this and any
0:31:11 > 0:31:20other Sport Relief challenge.
0:31:23 > 0:31:29The Mother Of All Challenges is a serious challenge, I cannot think of
0:31:29 > 0:31:36anyone who would like to be in their shoes and this is properly tough.
0:31:54 > 0:31:59The challenge feels like this enormous mountain and I hope that
0:31:59 > 0:32:05the girls and myself will bond and do it together.I don't think I have
0:32:05 > 0:32:10fully taken on board but I am going to be doing. We're going to be
0:32:10 > 0:32:20absolutely nuts!It is on!Here they are...
0:32:20 > 0:32:22First up, it's Amal from London!
0:32:22 > 0:32:24APPLAUSE.
0:32:24 > 0:32:27Mum to 11-month-old Rafii, Amal works as a doctor,
0:32:27 > 0:32:34specialising in Sports Medicine.
0:32:34 > 0:32:36Lovely.
0:32:36 > 0:32:41Next up, Debbie from Bristol!
0:32:41 > 0:32:43By day, Debbie is a support worker for adults with
0:32:43 > 0:32:44learning difficulties.
0:32:44 > 0:32:46But her spare time is devoted to her four daughters -
0:32:46 > 0:32:48Mum three is Jodi from Bristol!
0:32:48 > 0:32:52APPLAUSE.
0:32:52 > 0:32:55Mum to Taylan and Farren, Jodi has overcome severe post-natal
0:32:55 > 0:32:59depression and now wants to support other mums facing the same ordeal.
0:32:59 > 0:33:05And finally, it's Leigh from Glasgow!
0:33:05 > 0:33:07Mum to Ross and twins Ethan and Freya, Leigh
0:33:07 > 0:33:09loves the gym and works for a construction company.
0:33:09 > 0:33:17So we know who'll be doing the heavy lifting!
0:33:18 > 0:33:24There is no backing out! We have given birth, we can do this! That is
0:33:24 > 0:33:29the bottom line, it is so nice to have a team of ladies doing it with
0:33:29 > 0:33:34me. I am so grateful that you have signed up. Thank you in advance,
0:33:34 > 0:33:42before we get into at!How will this work?Every day there is a different
0:33:42 > 0:33:47challenge, and we saw your face! Matt was giving me tips about the
0:33:47 > 0:33:56wet suit and what we should do to warm it up! One challenge every day,
0:33:56 > 0:34:00swimming, biking, hiking, caving and the marathon and we will play on
0:34:00 > 0:34:04each other's strengths. If somebody is good at running they can take the
0:34:04 > 0:34:10lead and we will finish together, team effort. Nobody left behind.
0:34:10 > 0:34:13Leigh, you describe yourself as Mrs Average.
0:34:13 > 0:34:20What made you want to get involved in the challenge?
0:34:20 > 0:34:28Mrs average, we are just mothers, I always watch the celebrities on
0:34:28 > 0:34:33Sport Relief and when Alex asked my mum to come along, why not? So I
0:34:33 > 0:34:40applied and here I am.The reason we are asking for mums is this year is
0:34:40 > 0:34:46all about raising awareness of paternity issues and pregnancy
0:34:46 > 0:34:50issues. Jodi, you had a real time of it with postnatal depression and you
0:34:50 > 0:34:54thought that you would want to do something to help others in the same
0:34:54 > 0:35:00position?Give us some background. I suffered badly after my first son
0:35:00 > 0:35:07and it was a really lonely time and it was a really dark place, not a
0:35:07 > 0:35:12great place to be and this is about trying to normalise that episode so
0:35:12 > 0:35:17that women feel they can talk about it and we can say, OK, we're
0:35:17 > 0:35:20actually not feeling great but that is all right and get that
0:35:20 > 0:35:25conversation going. In general, but your perspective change in life when
0:35:25 > 0:35:34he became mothers? More fearful? Or more out there?More fearful! It is
0:35:34 > 0:35:40both. I am more fearful for the children but as I get older I am
0:35:40 > 0:35:47getting more gung ho!
0:35:47 > 0:35:54getting more gung ho!Debbie is a dark horse.
0:35:54 > 0:36:02dark horse. Shelley Winters? In the Poseidon adventure? That is Debbie!
0:36:02 > 0:36:07Really good in the water.
0:36:08 > 0:36:11Really good in the water. And Amal, you are the Doctor. How can we feel
0:36:11 > 0:36:18better? What is your reason for getting behind this? When you put
0:36:18 > 0:36:25out the advert I was not in a good place, similar to Jodi, I was six
0:36:25 > 0:36:28months postpartum and I used to be very fit and active and during my
0:36:28 > 0:36:31pregnancy and after I had the baby I did not have the capacity to
0:36:31 > 0:36:36exercise that I guessed it. It used to be such a massive part of my
0:36:36 > 0:36:40identity and at that time I didn't have the energy or the strength or
0:36:40 > 0:36:44do anything and I looked to that challenge to be something that I
0:36:44 > 0:36:48could aim for and get motivated for. And that transition from being
0:36:48 > 0:36:53really fit and healthy to becoming a mum and your body going through the
0:36:53 > 0:36:57mill and is trying to get back to the same place is a big challenge, I
0:36:57 > 0:37:01find it really hard so this is a reason to get back on the bike!It
0:37:01 > 0:37:08is achieving something, some of us felt that we had failed as a mother
0:37:08 > 0:37:13for a while, and we didn't but that is how we felt and I think this is
0:37:13 > 0:37:19our chance to achieve something. Absolutely. No doubt your families
0:37:19 > 0:37:22and your children think you are the best thing in the world ever!
0:37:22 > 0:37:28APPLAUSE. Look at the support! It is so
0:37:28 > 0:37:33lovely. Such a great feeling of absolute support. There we go. And
0:37:33 > 0:37:38everybody has been helping you with training? Yes!What are we dreading
0:37:38 > 0:37:50the most?Caving.Running.Caving. You really do hate the running?That
0:37:50 > 0:37:55is it, basically damp and tight spaces. There must be elements...
0:37:55 > 0:37:59You must be looking forward to something? I cannot wait to get
0:37:59 > 0:38:03started and with everyone together to just go for it, what else can we
0:38:03 > 0:38:10do? We just have to go for it and it is going to happen. It is the
0:38:10 > 0:38:17swimming. I am not as strong swimmer and it is so cold water.Speaking of
0:38:17 > 0:38:22the cold water, have we time for this? This is the actual temperature
0:38:22 > 0:38:31of Loch Ness. At the moment, just come over here, take off your shoes!
0:38:31 > 0:38:41Very quickly. It is 5 degrees, to be exact. There you have it. You will
0:38:41 > 0:38:49be absolutely fine! That is absolutely... Well, it is full of
0:38:49 > 0:38:53ice cubes! We wish you all the very best.
0:38:53 > 0:39:02APPLAUSE. We will get to know this team a lot
0:39:02 > 0:39:07better before then.
0:39:07 > 0:39:09But in the meantime, there's lots more information
0:39:09 > 0:39:11about the Mother Of All Challenges on our website.
0:39:11 > 0:39:13And we're looking forward to having Elkie Brooks perform
0:39:13 > 0:39:14for us later in the show.
0:39:14 > 0:39:17That will be good for motivation.
0:39:17 > 0:39:19As we saw earlier, one of the locations we'll get
0:39:19 > 0:39:22to enjoy on our challenge, if that's the right word,
0:39:22 > 0:39:24is the Lake District - the stunning setting
0:39:24 > 0:39:25of our next film.
0:39:25 > 0:39:32Not that we'll have time for fishing.
0:39:32 > 0:39:36The bends in rivers are vital for wildlife. A slow the flow of the
0:39:36 > 0:39:41water and allow sediment to build up, creating habitats for insects
0:39:41 > 0:39:47and fish and the creatures that feed on them. This valley in the Lake
0:39:47 > 0:39:51District suffered a drop in wildlife when the Victorians straightened the
0:39:51 > 0:39:56river to make way for more farmland. At the time the project was heralded
0:39:56 > 0:39:59a great success and what they did not realise was that by changing the
0:39:59 > 0:40:04course of this once meandering river, they had destroyed once rich
0:40:04 > 0:40:10wetland habitat full of wildlife. John Gorse from the local utilities
0:40:10 > 0:40:14company spotted an opportunity to bring the ecosystem back to life by
0:40:14 > 0:40:20reinstating the bends. They are not only good for wildlife but good for
0:40:20 > 0:40:25water quality survey I live the finer material in the water column
0:40:25 > 0:40:28to drop out into the catchment rather than going to the water
0:40:28 > 0:40:35intake. This sort of injury. In the old straightened channel Weather
0:40:35 > 0:40:40Watcher running quickly, all of that material was highly mobile and would
0:40:40 > 0:40:47be taken into the water intake so there is extra cost.By stopping the
0:40:47 > 0:40:52flow, sediment deposits on the bends, creating vital habitats for
0:40:52 > 0:40:58wildlife. Digging an entirely new watercourse complete with 15 new
0:40:58 > 0:41:02bends was a monumental task but the effect on wildlife was almost
0:41:02 > 0:41:08immediate, as Leigh Scofield from the RSPB explains. The gravel is
0:41:08 > 0:41:12such a key feature of this restoration so it is supporting this
0:41:12 > 0:41:17new food chain, the gravel bars have lots of different niche is so
0:41:17 > 0:41:20different invertebrates can be supported and that supports the fish
0:41:20 > 0:41:24and the birds and the predators, the arteries and the kingfishers and the
0:41:24 > 0:41:30exciting thing for us was upstream we could see several salmon spawning
0:41:30 > 0:41:34in here, only three months after the machines left. All that has done
0:41:34 > 0:41:39that is putting in the bends and the water has engineered these smaller
0:41:39 > 0:41:43features into the landscape.Salmon spawning is an indicator of a
0:41:43 > 0:41:46healthy river, showing this project has been a great success. But
0:41:46 > 0:41:50getting there is just the end of a perilous journey they have made from
0:41:50 > 0:41:55the sea. In autumn, our river systems are motor ways for salmon
0:41:55 > 0:41:58looking for spawning grounds and they. At nothing that gets under
0:41:58 > 0:42:03way. Every now and again they will come across water falls like this
0:42:03 > 0:42:06and it is only with a strong flow of water that allows them to leap up
0:42:06 > 0:42:10and get over the top of them and I am hoping that I have come to the
0:42:10 > 0:42:15right place at the right time and salmon is going to leap in front of
0:42:15 > 0:42:27me. Despite several hours, my luck is not in. Undeterred, I am back.
0:42:27 > 0:42:31This time I'm headed south to stretch of water full of obstacles
0:42:31 > 0:42:36and hopefully, salmon. It is completely hit and miss when it
0:42:36 > 0:42:42comes to filming salmon leaping and I have this ten metre wide waterfall
0:42:42 > 0:42:45in front of me and I don't know which bet they are going to try to
0:42:45 > 0:42:53jump up and I do not know when.
0:42:57 > 0:43:08That is a whopper! That salmon is huge. Absolutely fascinating to
0:43:08 > 0:43:17watch.
0:43:19 > 0:43:21With the U:K.'s salmon population feared to be at its lowest ever,
0:43:21 > 0:43:26projects like this one at Swindell back are critical to give this fish
0:43:26 > 0:43:32the best possible chance of survival.
0:43:32 > 0:43:36In honour of our Top Gear guests tonight, we've invited some One Show
0:43:36 > 0:43:39viewers and their unusual vehicles onto the show tonight for a quick
0:43:39 > 0:43:40game of Who Do You Think You Car?
0:43:40 > 0:43:47Three more lovely contenders. Match the car with the order. Great game,
0:43:47 > 0:43:55Who Do You Think You Car? This beautiful tractor, 1917, this
0:43:55 > 0:43:59Samsung tractor, absolute beauty. Feast your eyes on that. Look at
0:43:59 > 0:44:05this 1970 Dodge Charger, half of the engines sticking out and finally,
0:44:05 > 0:44:11number three, this is a customised jet powered Volkswagen van known as
0:44:11 > 0:44:19the Oklahoma Willy.Let us be the owners. We have got Sam from
0:44:19 > 0:44:24Portsmouth, Perry from Dorset...
0:44:24 > 0:44:27Gordon from Norfolk.
0:44:27 > 0:44:33Good evening. We have the pictures of the cards, match the pictures to
0:44:33 > 0:44:40the owners.Matthew, I was rubbish last time.You have the roughest
0:44:40 > 0:44:47hands so I would imagine that is you. The muscle car?I think you
0:44:47 > 0:44:53have got the jet.
0:44:53 > 0:44:57have got the jet.Ansan, the Dodge. Last time you got it completely
0:44:57 > 0:45:04wrong. It cannot get any worse. Please stand by your cars, that
0:45:04 > 0:45:11would be fantastic.Hang about!
0:45:11 > 0:45:13would be fantastic.Hang about! It is absolutely right! You have nailed
0:45:13 > 0:45:26it! The tractor, you will love this, this Samsung, six - 12.Six
0:45:26 > 0:45:33horsepower and 12 horsepower at the bully. Powered by?Single cylinder.
0:45:33 > 0:45:43Wow! What year?1917.That is gorgeous.You have got quite a few
0:45:43 > 0:45:47of them? We have a passion for vintage tractors, the older, steel
0:45:47 > 0:45:55wheels once. You don't suffer from punters!Takes more loading and
0:45:55 > 0:46:04unloading. It will be a slow ride home!
0:46:04 > 0:46:12Sam, you are the owner of the Dodge. That's it, all muscle. The Stig is
0:46:12 > 0:46:18in there, is it all right? It has made my day.How did you get your
0:46:18 > 0:46:24hands on this car?Growing up it always appealed to me to have this
0:46:24 > 0:46:29car. It looks the part, it has all the power, but it is all a facade.
0:46:29 > 0:46:3515 years later I finally got it. Me and my dad went to America four
0:46:35 > 0:46:38years ago and built our business buying and selling American cars and
0:46:38 > 0:46:47it has taken this long to put it all together. How much is it?If you
0:46:47 > 0:46:56can't afford it, don't buy it. Is it him or it? It is it.And you are the
0:46:56 > 0:47:03owner of this phenomenal machine. It did not come as a rocket.I imported
0:47:03 > 0:47:08the car from Oklahoma, it was 1958, spent its entire life on a farm and
0:47:08 > 0:47:15it was wrecked when I got it. I spent three years restoring it. And
0:47:15 > 0:47:19then we bought the jet engine to put on the back. It is 5000 horsepower
0:47:19 > 0:47:26is fighter jets engine.Have a look at this in action. Talk us through
0:47:26 > 0:47:33the speed. This is me going on the drag strip pulling away and burning
0:47:33 > 0:47:3831 gallons of fuel in ten seconds covering a quarter of a mile at 150
0:47:38 > 0:47:45miles an hour when I crossed the line at the top. It is good fun, the
0:47:45 > 0:47:51world's most inefficient hybrid vehicle.Thank you one and all for
0:47:51 > 0:47:56bringing in your cars. We simply asked to this is what we got.
0:47:56 > 0:47:59Oklahoma Willie is lovely.Good fun.
0:47:59 > 0:48:01Good fun.
0:48:01 > 0:48:03Earlier we introduced you to train conductor Jeff
0:48:03 > 0:48:05who was about to undergo a revolutionary new treatment
0:48:05 > 0:48:06for heart failure.
0:48:06 > 0:48:09It's success hinges on a tiny wireless device and the steady hands
0:48:09 > 0:48:11of one of the country's top heart surgeons.
0:48:11 > 0:48:19So let's see how things go.
0:48:20 > 0:48:24Last year, 53-year-old Jeff Wales was diagnosed with heart failure.I
0:48:24 > 0:48:28was horrified when we found that the diagnosis. Then you start to think
0:48:28 > 0:48:34what is going to happen to the future? He has been fitted with a
0:48:34 > 0:48:37pacemaker but his health is deteriorating and there was little
0:48:37 > 0:48:42else doctors could do until now. Today we are at Saint Thomas's
0:48:42 > 0:48:46Hospital in London and the professor is preparing to insert a
0:48:46 > 0:48:51revolutionary wireless device into Jeff's heart to help beat normally.
0:48:51 > 0:48:56The device is a wireless stimulate and is the size of a grain of rice
0:48:56 > 0:49:01and uses ultrasound to work with Jeff's pacemaker, making both sides
0:49:01 > 0:49:06of his heart beat together. After a year of life limiting illness, this
0:49:06 > 0:49:11could mean a normal future.I have got the promise of a better life. If
0:49:11 > 0:49:19it all goes well, I hope it happens. I will be a wreck whilst it is going
0:49:19 > 0:49:25on. I want the Jeff of 18 months ago, that is all.It is not only
0:49:25 > 0:49:29Geoff and Lynne who might be feeling nervous this morning. It is the
0:49:29 > 0:49:34first time they have used this new generation device. Jeff will be
0:49:34 > 0:49:37awake for the procedure but heavily sedated as the device will be
0:49:37 > 0:49:46inserted through an artery. A guide catheter goes on first to find the
0:49:46 > 0:49:51direct location of the heart. It goes inside the left ventricle and
0:49:51 > 0:50:01we are putting the device from there and deploy it into the heart. Just
0:50:01 > 0:50:07make sure that is straight down there, guys. You can see it coming
0:50:07 > 0:50:12up there. The next stage is crucial. The professor has to find a healthy
0:50:12 > 0:50:18section of tissue. We are testing the device to see whether or not it
0:50:18 > 0:50:27captures the heart electrically. Hold on one second. Check that.
0:50:28 > 0:50:33Hold on one second. Check that. Are you sure your connections are OK?It
0:50:33 > 0:50:37is not good news. The first attempt has failed. We have to reposition
0:50:37 > 0:50:46that.OK, more testing, please. Jeff's heart is even more damaged
0:50:46 > 0:50:50than expected. The professor has discovered extensive scarring, so
0:50:50 > 0:50:55they cannot find a site where it will work.It is even worse in this
0:50:55 > 0:51:04position. Let's try going up very high on the wall. Otherwise we are
0:51:04 > 0:51:09running out of targets really. They have now tried a dozen positions and
0:51:09 > 0:51:13nothing is working. Jeff's last hope for a better quality of life is
0:51:13 > 0:51:22slipping away.We have tried the whole of the lateral wall.But
0:51:22 > 0:51:30Professor Rinaldi is not giving up and tries one more time.Try that.
0:51:30 > 0:51:35Finally success. They have found a healthy piece of heart.I think we
0:51:35 > 0:51:41should deploy it here. OK? You can see now we have pushed the device
0:51:41 > 0:51:47forward and the tip has gone into the heart. The device is now
0:51:47 > 0:51:53anchored into the beating heart muscle.
0:51:53 > 0:51:58muscle. OK, we are done. Jeff's heart is at last being paced by the
0:51:58 > 0:52:03new device. That was a very difficult case. We had to move may
0:52:03 > 0:52:10be ten times within the heart. Now it looks like a good position to us.
0:52:10 > 0:52:17It has all gone well. Less than an hour after his future was hanging in
0:52:17 > 0:52:21the balance, Jeff is back on the ward and feeling better.I didn't
0:52:21 > 0:52:30realise how bad it was before. I have not felt like that for years.I
0:52:30 > 0:52:35am pleased. It is an astonishing change and Jeff should continue to
0:52:35 > 0:52:42improve, but he has already got a result he hardly dared hope for.It
0:52:42 > 0:52:49feels good. It feels good.We have had some lovely news since we filmed
0:52:49 > 0:52:53that and Jeff has had his treatment in October and he is now back at
0:52:53 > 0:52:58work and feeling better than ever. Long may that continue. Jeff, I am
0:52:58 > 0:53:03sure that is weird watching your surgery on television. Chris, you
0:53:03 > 0:53:09found that weird.I do not like people messing about in that area of
0:53:09 > 0:53:15my body. That is understandable. And a new series of Episodes is starting
0:53:15 > 0:53:22in March. What can we expect? My guide, me, gets in the most trouble
0:53:22 > 0:53:27he has ever been in, so some pretty outrageous things. I don't want to
0:53:27 > 0:53:32spoil too much, but it is bigger, broader, crazier and stranger than
0:53:32 > 0:53:36ever.We have got a little clip. This is you in full name-dropping
0:53:36 > 0:53:44mode.I just got tickets for Madonna, do you want to come?
0:53:44 > 0:53:51Really? In her seat, said they will be good. Madonna's suits? She called
0:53:51 > 0:53:56me.You know Madonna? Why can't I know Madonna? Since she was a
0:53:56 > 0:54:05virgin. At the Andy Warhol factory? Why can't I know Andy Warhol? You
0:54:05 > 0:54:12guys are the least interesting people I know.We have got to know
0:54:12 > 0:54:15which other a little bit over the years, but, Chris, is that the true
0:54:15 > 0:54:21likeness of him in general? It is surprisingly accurate in many ways,
0:54:21 > 0:54:27but it is inaccurate in others because he is actually nice. In
0:54:27 > 0:54:32Episodes he is not that pleasant.I think the man is nice. What part are
0:54:32 > 0:54:36you talking about? There is an meanness to him. He seems quite
0:54:36 > 0:54:46self-centred.Be nice.Thank you. You did mention he invited you to
0:54:46 > 0:54:52his ranch. Did you get stacking? You have no option, it is a fantastic
0:54:52 > 0:54:57way of living. It is all about dirt bikes and it is amazing and cool.He
0:54:57 > 0:55:01is one of us, he likes getting his hands dirty. How are things animal
0:55:01 > 0:55:08wise?Good, everything is good on the ranch. It is cattle season and
0:55:08 > 0:55:13babies are being born. When will you be going back?Probably the weekend
0:55:13 > 0:55:20after next.We have to say thank you to everybody who have been sending
0:55:20 > 0:55:26in pictures of their cars that are really dirty. Just pick one. That is
0:55:26 > 0:55:34a good one. This is my's friend Ria and she has a very messy car and she
0:55:34 > 0:55:42loves smoothies. This is horrible. JP wants to embarrass his friend by
0:55:42 > 0:55:47showing us the state of his car. His friend is anonymous, but he is from
0:55:47 > 0:55:56Kilmarnock. That is terrible.Matt works in a body shop in Blackpool
0:55:56 > 0:56:02and this is his course. That is incredible. That is almost it for
0:56:02 > 0:56:06tonight. A very big thank you to our guests.
0:56:06 > 0:56:09The new series of Top Gear starts on Sunday night at 8 on BBC2.
0:56:09 > 0:56:12Angellica's here tomorrow and we'll be joined by Christopher Eccleston.
0:56:12 > 0:56:20But now it's over to Alex who's back outside braving the cold.
0:56:20 > 0:56:25We are acclimatising out here. It is tropical. I want to say thank you
0:56:25 > 0:56:29before we start. It will be great. We will be all right, we will
0:56:29 > 0:56:32support each other.
0:56:32 > 0:56:35Well, playing us out tonight with a song that can't fail to put
0:56:35 > 0:56:37a spring in your step it's Elkie Brooks and
0:56:37 > 0:56:44Running To The Future.
0:56:44 > 0:56:49# I'm the things that I've been put through
0:56:49 > 0:56:56# And everything I've done
0:56:56 > 0:57:04# The battles that I've lost and won.
0:57:06 > 0:57:12# Though there's no changing what is in the past
0:57:12 > 0:57:19# The rest is mine to live at last
0:57:19 > 0:57:25# So I'll take this chance on you.
0:57:25 > 0:57:28# So I'm running to the future
0:57:28 > 0:57:31# And if this dream survives
0:57:31 > 0:57:34# I'm running along beside you
0:57:34 > 0:57:37# Through the best years of our lives
0:57:37 > 0:57:40# And it's calling me
0:57:40 > 0:57:48# Yes, it's calling me to you.
0:57:50 > 0:57:53# So I'm running to the future
0:57:53 > 0:57:56# I hope we will be strong
0:57:56 > 0:57:59# I'm running along beside you
0:57:59 > 0:58:07# 'Cause I know that's where I belong.
0:58:13 > 0:58:19# I was tired and I was hurting
0:58:19 > 0:58:26# But you helped me to my feet
0:58:26 > 0:58:34# And made my broken heart complete
0:58:34 > 0:58:40# I know there will be hills for us to climb
0:58:40 > 0:58:48# So come and put your hand in mine
0:58:48 > 0:58:55# And let me walk this line with you
0:58:55 > 0:58:57# So I'm running to the future
0:58:57 > 0:58:59# And if this dream survives
0:58:59 > 0:59:03# I'm running along beside you
0:59:03 > 0:59:06# Through the best years of our lives
0:59:06 > 0:59:09# And it's calling me
0:59:09 > 0:59:17# Yes, it's calling me
0:59:21 > 0:59:24# And it's calling me...
0:59:24 > 0:59:31# Yes it's calling me to you.
0:59:31 > 0:59:31APPLAUSE
