:00:20. > :00:26.Hello and welcome to the One Show with Matt Baker and Alex Jones. Our

:00:27. > :00:33.guests are truly out of this world, not one but two Hollywood

:00:34. > :00:36.superstars. Hang about! I think that is them landing now. It is the stars

:00:37. > :00:40.of the new Guardians of the Galaxy film, it is Chris Pratt and Kurt

:00:41. > :00:54.Russell. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE.

:00:55. > :01:08.Welcome, welcome. Welcome. Lovely to see you. Welcome. Thank you guys.

:01:09. > :01:11.That was some introduction. There has been much excitement here today

:01:12. > :01:16.behind-the-scenes. Lovely to have you both on the sofa. And we heard

:01:17. > :01:19.you were pretty excited, Kurt, getting this role and we have a

:01:20. > :01:24.picture that depicts this beautifully. Here you are on the

:01:25. > :01:28.set. Look at the excitement their pulsing through your veins. That is

:01:29. > :01:33.my favourite thing to do on a movie set! When you see the wide shot, you

:01:34. > :01:39.are on your phone and everyone is on their phones, did that happen a lot?

:01:40. > :01:45.Generational differences. They are busy. This is my version of resting.

:01:46. > :01:51.It is fair to say, Chris, this was not the first time that you had met

:01:52. > :01:59.when you rewind back time. Well, I don't know if it is fair to say that

:02:00. > :02:07.but it is true. I did a movie called Bride Wars. It starred Kate Hudson.

:02:08. > :02:11.Kate, obviously, and Kurt have a pretty good relationship. It was

:02:12. > :02:14.Kate's 30th birthday, we were at a sushi restaurant and Kurt and Goldie

:02:15. > :02:20.were there and I was so starstruck and I had a story that I knew I

:02:21. > :02:27.would be able to bond over with Kurt Russell if I just had the nerve to

:02:28. > :02:34.talk to him. I will make this quick. I went fishing with this guide and

:02:35. > :02:37.this guide took me down these channels to catch freshwater sea

:02:38. > :02:41.bass and all he could talk about was the time he took Kurt Russell and

:02:42. > :02:47.building on fishing and he talked about Kurt Russell, he is a real

:02:48. > :02:54.fisherman and I never forget, he said Goldie, she is a babe! So I

:02:55. > :02:57.listen to this guy talk about Kurt Russell and Goldie and the whole

:02:58. > :03:01.fishing trip we had a great time and I thought that is my end, I am ready

:03:02. > :03:05.to talk to Kurt Russell about the guy who went fishing with him and

:03:06. > :03:09.Goldie. At the end of the dinner, I approach Kurt outside and said, and

:03:10. > :03:16.I didn't even do that thing where I introduced myself, I just locked up

:03:17. > :03:22.and I said, we have a common bond, I fished with their guide that take

:03:23. > :03:31.you fishing in Kawai. I do not remember this. He said, I've never

:03:32. > :03:36.been to Kawai. See you later! And I was like, I'm going to track this

:03:37. > :03:42.dude down! I could not believe it. It was so specific about the story.

:03:43. > :03:46.I cannot believe he lied to me. He was telling the truth, I'm sure I

:03:47. > :03:50.forgot about that. We will talk about the film and everything else

:03:51. > :03:54.you got up to onset. You both spent plenty of time around spaceships

:03:55. > :03:58.winemaking Guardians of the Galaxy but back in 1977, a group of

:03:59. > :04:03.schoolchildren claimed to see a real-life UFO. Ruth has been to find

:04:04. > :04:08.out whether all can be explained 40 years on. Today one group of

:04:09. > :04:14.children showed me the spot where they saw what they think was some

:04:15. > :04:19.kind of spaceship. The spaceship, it looked a cigar shaped with a dome on

:04:20. > :04:24.it. Suddenly the silver cigar shaped object seem to pop up from behind

:04:25. > :04:31.the bushes and tried to take off. Or you frightened at the time? Yes. On

:04:32. > :04:35.the 4th of February, 1977, a small coastal town in South West Wales

:04:36. > :04:40.became the centre of a global media storm, sparked by sightings of

:04:41. > :04:46.unidentified flying objects and strange, silver suited figures. The

:04:47. > :04:51.strange events earned the area the nickname of the Broadhaven Triangle.

:04:52. > :04:56.It all started here at Broadhaven primary school when a group of

:04:57. > :04:59.pupils saw what they thought was a spaceship in a neighbouring field

:05:00. > :05:04.and a mysterious figure standing next to it. There are teachers were

:05:05. > :05:08.sceptical until the headmaster decided to test the children under

:05:09. > :05:15.exam conditions. They were each asked to draw what they had seen.

:05:16. > :05:18.Dave Davies was one of those pupils and 40 years on, One Show has

:05:19. > :05:23.tracked him down. I was looking at the bushes, at the top of the tree,

:05:24. > :05:26.then it disappeared again. When he read the descriptions, when he saw

:05:27. > :05:29.the pictures, it suddenly dawned on him that we had in fact seen

:05:30. > :05:37.something that was out of the ordinary. I leave the pictures that

:05:38. > :05:42.you all drew? Yes they are. All of them have the same basic

:05:43. > :05:48.consideration. Silver finish that you could not quite focus on. About

:05:49. > :05:53.45 feet long, with a red pulsating, not flashing light on top of the

:05:54. > :05:57.actual dome. The site in itself only lasted for a matter of seconds, met

:05:58. > :06:00.maybe ten seconds, certainly long enough for it to imprint of my

:06:01. > :06:06.memory. I saw something that could not be explained by any rational

:06:07. > :06:09.means, from behind the tree line, a large silver cigar shaped object

:06:10. > :06:13.popped up. I found myself running away as if my life depended on it,

:06:14. > :06:19.almost as if the suggestion had been put in my head to flee the area.

:06:20. > :06:27.After 40 years, I am still just able to say I saw a UFO and that is it.

:06:28. > :06:31.These incredible drawings are not the only account of strange

:06:32. > :06:35.sightings in Broadhaven. They -- there followed a flurry of UFO

:06:36. > :06:40.sightings with locals reporting strange lights and faceless

:06:41. > :06:44.humanoids leaving in unidentified craft throughout the area. Some even

:06:45. > :06:50.contacted the authorities. Although some incidents were shown to be

:06:51. > :06:55.hoaxes, others defied explanation. Sceptics have suggested that the

:06:56. > :07:00.spaceship were little more than Harrier jump jets out an exercise

:07:01. > :07:03.from the nearby RAF base. It is something you would think the

:07:04. > :07:07.Ministry of Defence would know about, but whilst researching his

:07:08. > :07:12.novel the watchers, Neal Spring came across a document in which the MoD

:07:13. > :07:17.itself called for an enquiry. We have here a document that was sent

:07:18. > :07:19.from the Ministry of Defence to the military police asking them whether

:07:20. > :07:23.they thought, in this particular case, there was a need for a more

:07:24. > :07:28.serious specialist enquiry and even more interesting than that, they

:07:29. > :07:31.don't even involve the minister or Parliament. Nor the public either.

:07:32. > :07:35.They stayed in the memo, we have not even told the minister that we are

:07:36. > :07:41.consulting you. They are interested, but we have not got a clue what they

:07:42. > :07:45.found. The reply to this memo has not been declassified, something was

:07:46. > :07:48.seen in that field by those kids, something was flying around the bay

:07:49. > :07:52.that many people were saying and I don't know what it was, I don't know

:07:53. > :07:58.if our MoD know what it was, but I note that they tried to find out. I

:07:59. > :08:05.am still no closer to the truth than I was on the 4th of February, 1977.

:08:06. > :08:13.Until that MoD memo is declassified, the tale of the Broadhaven Triangle

:08:14. > :08:21.will remain a mystery. Well, who knows? What do you think, Chris?

:08:22. > :08:32.Alien life? Does it exist? I, I think no. I think it doesn't. Star

:08:33. > :08:40.Lord! What? We have a whole item coming up on this. Ask me again!

:08:41. > :08:45.Yes, of course it exist six we will get your thoughts in a moment, but

:08:46. > :08:51.first Gyles is here armed with our One Show case files. We have been

:08:52. > :08:56.doing a lot of homework on this. In my top-secret file, I came across

:08:57. > :09:02.Kurt in 1982 when you starred in a movie called The Thing and we had

:09:03. > :09:07.the Thing 17 years earlier in 1965 in Wiltshire, the -- The Warminster

:09:08. > :09:11.Thing. It was much closer to home number you are. It was an

:09:12. > :09:15.extraordinary phenomenon over a series of nights, amazing

:09:16. > :09:20.unidentified flying object seen in the sky. UFOs that led cars to

:09:21. > :09:27.stall, stop and even momentarily explode. On August 17, a destination

:09:28. > :09:32.noise house before a monstrous blame was seen in the sky. A few days

:09:33. > :09:35.later, a couple on a motorbike felt it stalled as to white spheres of

:09:36. > :09:40.light hovered overhead changing colour. One month later, a woman

:09:41. > :09:46.felt her car lose power after she saw bright orange light in the sky.

:09:47. > :09:51.A ball of light, Sparks, extraordinary stuff and reported to

:09:52. > :09:56.our Ministry of Defence which then had a UFO sighting unit. No one knew

:09:57. > :09:58.what was going on, public meetings, mystery, unresolved for 50 years

:09:59. > :10:36.until in 2006 when the MoD said what they thought

:10:37. > :10:38.was the explanation, strange occurrences caused by meteors, not

:10:39. > :10:40.fully burning up in the Earth's atmosphere, case resolved. Not

:10:41. > :10:43.always obey result. Let me give you the case of the disappearing diamond

:10:44. > :10:45.and this is intriguing. 1990, two hikers in Scotland saw a huge

:10:46. > :10:48.diamond shaped object hovering in the sky. They took photographs and

:10:49. > :10:50.they were sent to the MoD UFO unit. We spoke to someone who used to work

:10:51. > :10:52.there and he said those photographs have since disappeared. Where are

:10:53. > :10:55.the mystery photographs? Eventually be MoD produced one rather feeble

:10:56. > :10:57.picture, this one of the diamond shaped, it looks like a drawing. The

:10:58. > :11:00.man think something sinister was going on. Unresolved. Jazz, way, I

:11:01. > :11:05.have to say something. I don't care as much about this stuff, but when

:11:06. > :11:12.you -- but when I die, will you do my eulogy? It would be a privilege.

:11:13. > :11:21.I will do a special family rates as well. This will intrigue you. You

:11:22. > :11:26.may be able to help me. This is an international story, I looked into

:11:27. > :11:30.the international fires, not covered by our Ministry of Defence but maybe

:11:31. > :11:37.yours, this took place in Arizona. An unidentified pilot flying near an

:11:38. > :11:42.airport in Arizona with his son, when he spotted six lights in the

:11:43. > :11:46.night sky. He called to air traffic control to say I am seen these

:11:47. > :11:52.lights here, I was not expecting any other planes, can you tell me what

:11:53. > :11:57.is going on? They said there are no other planes. He said, I am seeing

:11:58. > :12:14.six bright lights coming towards me. Mystery unresolved. The tail number

:12:15. > :12:21.for that was and I was the pilot. It does not say that in the briefing. I

:12:22. > :12:26.should have read to the end. I was flying him to go and see his

:12:27. > :12:32.girlfriend. We were on the approach, and I saw six lights over the

:12:33. > :12:37.airport, absolute uniform, in a the shape, and Oliver said to me, I was

:12:38. > :12:41.looking at it, we were about half a mile out and Oliver said, what are

:12:42. > :12:47.those lights? I came out of my reverie and I said, I don't know. He

:12:48. > :12:52.said we are OK and I said, I'm going to call and reported it. And they

:12:53. > :13:03.said, we are not showing anything. I said, OK, I am going to declare it

:13:04. > :13:07.unidentified. We landed. I taxied, dropped him off, took off and went

:13:08. > :13:12.back to LA. Never said a word, he never said a word, I never thought

:13:13. > :13:18.of it, two years later, Goldie is watching a television show when I

:13:19. > :13:22.came home. And the show is on UFOs. I came home, asked her she was

:13:23. > :13:29.going, I heard the TV and I stopped and I started watching Anna Lo was

:13:30. > :13:39.on that event. That was the most viewed UFO event, over 20,000 people

:13:40. > :13:43.saw that. I am feeling like Richard Dreyfus En Close Encounters. Why do

:13:44. > :13:52.I know there's? It is not clear to me. Finally I said, then they said

:13:53. > :13:57.the pilot reported it on landing. I had never thought of it sends them

:13:58. > :14:03.and I said, that was me! That was me! And I said, wait a minute, I

:14:04. > :14:06.will go to my log books. So I went to my logbooks and there was the

:14:07. > :14:12.flight, at that time and I didn't mention anything about the UFO. The

:14:13. > :14:16.fascinating part of that is that it just went literally out of my head.

:14:17. > :14:20.Oliver never mentioned it. Had I not seen that show, I would never have

:14:21. > :14:29.thought of it again. Up to me was the weird part. Believer now Chris?

:14:30. > :14:36.Yes. It is unidentified, it is lying, it is an object. Moving

:14:37. > :14:44.toward you. We need to move on. Awesome story. See you at the

:14:45. > :14:51.funeral, Perth. Good funeral! Sometime you have to talk to Goldie

:14:52. > :15:00.about her experience. The wait is over for fans of Guardians of the

:15:01. > :15:03.Galaxy occurs Volume 2 will be had in cinemas on Friday. Here is where

:15:04. > :15:07.your character is where your characters meet for the first time.

:15:08. > :15:14.After all these years, I have found you. Who the hell are you? I figured

:15:15. > :15:22.my rugged good looks would make that obvious. My name is Ego. And I'm

:15:23. > :15:28.your dad, Peter. APPLAUSE.

:15:29. > :15:36.I saw the movie this morning, it has everything that Marvel fans want,

:15:37. > :15:44.but where do you want to start with this? We do not want to give much

:15:45. > :15:47.away. Volume two starts, if you have seen the first movie, it is a couple

:15:48. > :15:53.of months after the events of the first volume. My character has

:15:54. > :15:56.become the leader of the Guardians Of The Galaxy and he is doing his

:15:57. > :16:01.best to keep them out of trouble with mixed results. They are using

:16:02. > :16:08.their new-found fame to do mercenary work. They are protecting these

:16:09. > :16:12.batteries for this race of people, and I don't want to give away too

:16:13. > :16:22.much, but essentially my character after crashing our ship, runs into

:16:23. > :16:28.his character, Ego, based on a real character from the Marvel universe

:16:29. > :16:32.and he asks us to follow him to his planet so that I can explore the

:16:33. > :16:39.nature of my very strange and amazing heritage. And we explored

:16:40. > :16:44.the relationship between a father and son, an absent father and son,

:16:45. > :16:48.and I don't want to say too much because there are so many

:16:49. > :17:01.magnificent things I want audiences to experience in the theatre. When

:17:02. > :17:08.you thought of who your father would be, you thought, Kurt? And the next

:17:09. > :17:15.thing he thought, that he would be so lucky. But you jumped at the

:17:16. > :17:27.chance? My instinct, first, I had not seen the movie, and I was

:17:28. > :17:34.touring they Hateful Eight -- the Hateful Eight. And they would saying

:17:35. > :17:39.to me, are you going to be Peter Quill's father? I didn't know what

:17:40. > :17:43.they were talking about. But then I heard they were serious about that

:17:44. > :17:47.and I needed to see the movie and read the script. Seven minutes into

:17:48. > :17:57.the movie I thought, I'm having a good time, and then Chris comes into

:17:58. > :18:00.it, and he is a kind of weird scary situation, with these rats coming at

:18:01. > :18:05.him, and then he grabs a microphone, and I thought, I love this guy, he

:18:06. > :18:12.is right up the alley and the movie started to grow. I was jazzed up

:18:13. > :18:18.about it. But you don't want to be the guy who comes in and does the

:18:19. > :18:21.lousy sequel, and so I was under pressure that I had never felt

:18:22. > :18:27.before and I was just happy to get the opportunity to join these guys

:18:28. > :18:31.and we had a ball. There is a bit of comedy in all of the Marvel films,

:18:32. > :18:37.but even more in this one. That is what appeals to me and I know the

:18:38. > :18:43.Marvel world a little bit but I'm not a fanatic. But this has its own

:18:44. > :18:46.vibe and I'm really glad I got the opportunity to be a part of this

:18:47. > :18:52.because I really enjoy that particular kind of vibe. Did you

:18:53. > :18:57.think you would have to do this for the role? It was a character that

:18:58. > :19:06.you could do anyway. I didn't really think about it. Right at the

:19:07. > :19:15.beginning, Chris, they said because of your a spirits as a young lad,

:19:16. > :19:22.they -- of your experience as a young lad, you wanted to be a

:19:23. > :19:28.severer? Yes, I collected superheroes. -- you wanted to be a

:19:29. > :19:38.Sabine Row. My my brother and sister we had pencils

:19:39. > :19:49.and we drew on our wall. We had a modelling contract with my father

:19:50. > :19:54.and we started drawing copies of the comic book and I loved the

:19:55. > :19:57.anaesthetic and I knew that was really important, the way that these

:19:58. > :20:02.characters looked. They were part of my childhood and I wanted to

:20:03. > :20:10.accomplish that if I could. One of the things we have is this big

:20:11. > :20:14.flashy bones skin meet box that gave us and I wanted to manipulate it to

:20:15. > :20:18.look like that. You did it well. Well done. LAUGHTER

:20:19. > :20:20.Todays marks what would have been the 100th Birthday

:20:21. > :20:30.Here's Laura Mvula's tribute to her music icon.

:20:31. > :20:36.On April 11, 1974 in the small London nightclub one of the greatest

:20:37. > :20:42.jazz singers of all time picked up the microphone and brought the house

:20:43. > :20:49.down. That singer was Ella Fitzgerald, the Queen of jazz. The

:20:50. > :20:52.club was the legendary Ronnie Scotts, the iconic jazz club in

:20:53. > :20:57.Soho, and it was a performance that would go down in music history. And

:20:58. > :21:02.the result was the first and only record she ever produced in the UK.

:21:03. > :21:07.Ella Fitzgerald was known as the first Lady of song, raw talent and

:21:08. > :21:11.tenacity made her a global superstar who could outswing anyone. She has

:21:12. > :21:21.had a huge influence on my own career. The first time I listened to

:21:22. > :21:25.her, I must have been about 15, and I was captivated and it is amazing

:21:26. > :21:31.to think that here she is at 57 and she is leading the band. They were

:21:32. > :21:35.hanging on for dear life. The concert was filmed by the BBC and

:21:36. > :21:44.organised by the club's director at the time. When I was introduced to

:21:45. > :21:58.her, I said people call me water, or Wally, but she said people call me

:21:59. > :22:04.and -- Ella and I loved her. She did not have any airs and graces? Not

:22:05. > :22:10.really. However, we did make this toilet for her. What was it like to

:22:11. > :22:17.witness her gift at one Scotts? You could hear a pin drop when she was

:22:18. > :22:27.singing. She had the audience in the palm of her hand and they loved her.

:22:28. > :22:34.-- Ronnie Scotts. It was her reading -- willingness to take risks that

:22:35. > :22:38.made her. I was not entirely sure just how much voice she had left but

:22:39. > :22:42.in the event I had nothing to Murray about because the essential

:22:43. > :22:46.components that made her great were still present and correct -- I had

:22:47. > :22:54.nothing to worry about. Especially her ability to scat singing. She was

:22:55. > :22:58.still doing that at 67? Yes. She was one of the first to bring scat

:22:59. > :23:02.singing to a wider audience, a vocal improvisation that is difficult to

:23:03. > :23:09.master. The thing that fascinates me is the absence of words but she is

:23:10. > :23:14.telling a clear story, and I cannot imagine being able to let go so much

:23:15. > :23:18.in a song. I can understand that, because you have never tried, but no

:23:19. > :23:27.time like the present. Let's have a go.

:23:28. > :23:46.Thanks. My first ever scat sing. And hopefully not your last. In a career

:23:47. > :23:49.spanning six decades she was the first black woman to win a Grammy

:23:50. > :23:57.award and sold over 40 million albums. As Bing Crosby said, man

:23:58. > :24:03.woman or child, Ella Fitzgerald was the greatest of them all, and I

:24:04. > :24:09.would like to pay tribute on the very same stage on what would have

:24:10. > :24:16.been her 100th birthday. # Someday you will come along

:24:17. > :24:23.# The man I love # And when he comes along I will do

:29:12. > :29:13.Phil, the directors, they are extraordinary storytellers, and I've

:29:14. > :29:20.been a fan of theirs for a long time. I have got to see their

:29:21. > :29:27.process and how they work will stop when they gave me that role, it was

:29:28. > :29:30.before I was cast in a Guardians Of The Galaxy and it was really kind of

:29:31. > :29:34.neat, I was buying this character who was this average regular Joe who

:30:10. > :30:11.2 is out on Friday. Tomorrow, Michelle and I will be

:30:12. > :30:19.joined by Orlando Bloom. It's time to clock in...
