0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hi, I'm George Lewis and welcome to Extra Gear, the show that gets under
0:00:05 > 0:00:07the Top Gear bonnet to find you more cars,
0:00:07 > 0:00:11more unseen footage and a brand-new dipstick.
0:00:11 > 0:00:12That's me.
0:00:12 > 0:00:14Tonight, we talk to Chris about
0:00:14 > 0:00:17having the FXX K in Daytona to himself.
0:00:17 > 0:00:19We find out what all that dead goat tossing was all about
0:00:19 > 0:00:22in Kazakhstan and a true Extra Gear exclusive,
0:00:22 > 0:00:26we show you the very first victims of the new reasonably fast car
0:00:26 > 0:00:30and Chris proves that Volvos aren't just about reliability.
0:00:30 > 0:00:34He takes this V60 Polestar around another airfield,
0:00:34 > 0:00:36but this time, with the bonnet down.
0:00:36 > 0:00:41That's right, we're back, better than ever, this is Extra Gear!
0:01:03 > 0:01:05CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
0:01:06 > 0:01:10What an epic start to the new series of Top Gear.
0:01:10 > 0:01:12Cars that have driven to the Moon and back,
0:01:12 > 0:01:14quarry-racing and goat-grabbing.
0:01:14 > 0:01:17Anyway, here's a little reminder of what else went on during
0:01:17 > 0:01:19their Kazakhstan adventure.
0:01:21 > 0:01:24So...Kazakhstan.
0:01:25 > 0:01:28"There's a rocket launch in two days, be there."
0:01:30 > 0:01:33He's made contact!
0:01:33 > 0:01:35HE LAUGHS
0:01:37 > 0:01:43It's just acres and acres of nothing, it's like...Stoke.
0:01:47 > 0:01:52I've got to say, this is right up there with some of the, erm...
0:01:52 > 0:01:54grossest shit I've ever seen.
0:01:56 > 0:01:59Come on, Harris. Get them, get them, get them, get them!
0:02:01 > 0:02:05- Did they really invent apples in Kazakhstan?- Yeah, apparently.
0:02:07 > 0:02:10BLEEP!
0:02:10 > 0:02:12No!
0:02:12 > 0:02:16I just think if they invented the apple, then we should try an actual Kazakhstani apple.
0:02:16 > 0:02:18I'd love to have an apple.
0:02:19 > 0:02:23- High-banking at Daytona!- Come on, baby. Let's do this one for London.
0:02:26 > 0:02:28We'll get there. We'll get the old girl to Baikonur.
0:02:28 > 0:02:29I want to feel rocket go off.
0:02:33 > 0:02:34Wow!
0:02:49 > 0:02:52APPLAUSE
0:02:52 > 0:02:53Wow!
0:02:55 > 0:02:58Now, fully recovered and core body temperatures back up,
0:02:58 > 0:03:00let's bring on the boys.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03Come on, you didn't think I was going to do this on my own, did you?
0:03:03 > 0:03:04Rory? Chris?
0:03:08 > 0:03:10- George.- Good to see you.
0:03:10 > 0:03:14- Welcome to the big time, George. - Thank you!- That's the big chair.
0:03:14 > 0:03:16First of all, great show. Is it good to be back?
0:03:16 > 0:03:18Oh, man, it's...it's...it's great.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21We've got a brand-new set, we've done some amazing films, I think.
0:03:21 > 0:03:23It's just...I'm just happy to be here, man.
0:03:23 > 0:03:26It's like the first day of term. Certain amount of trepidation,
0:03:26 > 0:03:28but ultimately great to see your old mates, get back in the flow,
0:03:28 > 0:03:32so, yeah, wonderful, some great VTs. It's been fantastic.
0:03:32 > 0:03:36Now, Kazakhstan, that looked insane.
0:03:36 > 0:03:38There must have been a moment early on in this, Rory,
0:03:38 > 0:03:42you were in your cab, the heating had broken and you had the whole
0:03:42 > 0:03:44- of Kazakhstan to drive across.- Yep.
0:03:44 > 0:03:46You must have thought, "What am I doing?"
0:03:46 > 0:03:49- No. Well, yeah.- He was too busy whingeing about his heating, wasn't he?
0:03:49 > 0:03:51Get the violin out. Heating.
0:03:51 > 0:03:54I've never been so cold in my life, it was like -15 degrees.
0:03:54 > 0:03:57- What you've got to remember is... - -12 in the film.
0:03:57 > 0:03:59Has it got colder since then?
0:03:59 > 0:04:01I'm trying to get a bit of sympathy here, all right? Work with me.
0:04:01 > 0:04:04And, quite early on as well, there was something quite...
0:04:04 > 0:04:07quite serious happened. It looked like a pretty big shunt.
0:04:07 > 0:04:09I mean, shall we watch it one more time?
0:04:09 > 0:04:11- Yeah.- No.- Yeah, let's play it. - Here it is.
0:04:14 > 0:04:16- What the- BLEEP?
0:04:16 > 0:04:17Look at his face!
0:04:17 > 0:04:20OK. LAUGHTER
0:04:20 > 0:04:22That is the moment... That is the moment...
0:04:22 > 0:04:24Two things you need to know, first of all,
0:04:24 > 0:04:28that face is the face of a man who thinks, "I've just killed Joey."
0:04:28 > 0:04:32Not a good place to be in terms of everything from your sort of
0:04:32 > 0:04:34social conscience to insurance. Don't want to be there.
0:04:34 > 0:04:37Second of all, he just moves right and just leaves me
0:04:37 > 0:04:40hung out to dry with a great big German taxi in front of me.
0:04:40 > 0:04:41That is what you call driving skill, OK?
0:04:41 > 0:04:45He was behind me, I had a slow car, that's, like, that's technicalities.
0:04:45 > 0:04:47What you do is you go right, you block the path,
0:04:47 > 0:04:50you let them go left, collision, win the race.
0:04:50 > 0:04:51Is Rory teaching you a few things here?
0:04:51 > 0:04:55There's no racing rule book for being in a Kazakhstani quarry.
0:04:55 > 0:04:59There must have been a moment when you thought the Volvo was done for.
0:04:59 > 0:05:01That thing is a tank. I couldn't believe it survived.
0:05:01 > 0:05:03I rolled over the line, I genuinely thought, "Right,
0:05:03 > 0:05:06"this is the first thing we're doing on this shoot,
0:05:06 > 0:05:08"I've wrecked it, we're all going home, I'm fired,"
0:05:08 > 0:05:09because it wasn't supposed to happen.
0:05:09 > 0:05:12It really wasn't supposed to happen. It was a massive impact.
0:05:12 > 0:05:15A quarter of the car was missing, but it still worked.
0:05:15 > 0:05:17I mean, it required a certain amount of legwork.
0:05:17 > 0:05:21It was repaired, but, boy, did it take a big hit.
0:05:21 > 0:05:24That whole left front chassis leg was just peeled back,
0:05:24 > 0:05:27but it shows the car was built to take those impacts, because
0:05:27 > 0:05:31everything that was important was back towards the bulkhead, so, yeah,
0:05:31 > 0:05:34if you want to have a crash, genuinely, have a shunt in the V70.
0:05:34 > 0:05:38Rory, something else happened on that trip which was actually
0:05:38 > 0:05:40quite worrying for a lot of people.
0:05:40 > 0:05:43I don't know if you can sort of explain what is happening here.
0:05:43 > 0:05:45What's this?
0:05:45 > 0:05:49- Oh, right, yeah.- Wow!
0:05:49 > 0:05:51- Yeah.- I've never seen anything like that before.- Not very gracious.
0:05:51 > 0:05:53That's what you call a victory dance.
0:05:53 > 0:05:56You've got to remember, man, like, you know, two amazing drivers.
0:05:56 > 0:05:59I had a car that did 0-60 in 21 seconds and I still...
0:05:59 > 0:06:02- What tyres did you have on your car, Rory?- I had some decent tyres.
0:06:02 > 0:06:05- You did.- Just let me bask in the glory for a minute, OK?
0:06:05 > 0:06:06He's been basking for a while, hasn't he?
0:06:06 > 0:06:09I'll bask all day, mate. I'll take that.
0:06:09 > 0:06:11Many, many weeks of basking.
0:06:11 > 0:06:14So, I mean, you didn't just go to watch goat sports.
0:06:14 > 0:06:16The cars as well, they were... they were pretty amazing.
0:06:16 > 0:06:21So the taxi had done 483,000 miles,
0:06:21 > 0:06:27the Merc had done 497,000 and the Volvo 570,000 miles.
0:06:27 > 0:06:29Now, people don't usually keep cars long enough
0:06:29 > 0:06:32to get that kind of mileage out of them, do they?
0:06:32 > 0:06:34Yeah, I mean, that's what we discovered really.
0:06:34 > 0:06:36We kind of spoke at length while we were over there
0:06:36 > 0:06:38about how disposable cars have become.
0:06:38 > 0:06:41It was quite fitting to do it in Kazakhstan as well,
0:06:41 > 0:06:43because it's not a rich country,
0:06:43 > 0:06:45they don't have any resources, well, they have good
0:06:45 > 0:06:48natural resources, but there's not much money and they have
0:06:48 > 0:06:50to make things last, so they're so resourceful.
0:06:50 > 0:06:54- Every Lada you see has done seven million miles.- Yeah.
0:06:54 > 0:06:57They will re-use stuff that we throw away, that's a bit terrifying.
0:06:57 > 0:07:01So, do you think we should be keeping our cars longer,
0:07:01 > 0:07:03- using them more?- No.- No. LAUGHTER
0:07:03 > 0:07:06OK. I worked out the other day, actually my Megane's probably about
0:07:06 > 0:07:08- halfway to the Moon at the moment. - Not your Megane.
0:07:08 > 0:07:10We can't go into your Megane. We agreed when you got the job,
0:07:10 > 0:07:12- we left your Megane at the door. - OK, that's fair.
0:07:12 > 0:07:16And your car actually probably influenced the car you're
0:07:16 > 0:07:19- going to use for your lap this week, which was the Volvo.- Yeah.
0:07:19 > 0:07:23Yeah, that V70, miles better than your taxi, you know that.
0:07:23 > 0:07:26Look, I know choosing a Volvo for a reliability challenge would
0:07:26 > 0:07:30seem like a pretty safe bet, well, the safest of all bets,
0:07:30 > 0:07:32but that's not the reason I've chosen it this time.
0:07:32 > 0:07:34For most, estate cars conjure up images of school runs,
0:07:34 > 0:07:36muddy dogs and screaming children,
0:07:36 > 0:07:38but there are some pretty hot estates out there, too,
0:07:38 > 0:07:41like this Volvo V60 Polestar.
0:07:41 > 0:07:45I thought it only fair that I take this Viking Labrador carrier
0:07:45 > 0:07:47around our airfield.
0:07:47 > 0:07:49Take a look.
0:07:49 > 0:07:51Here's a strange thing. Launch control in a Volvo.
0:07:54 > 0:07:58Wow. Not that exciting, but then, the V60 Polestar
0:07:58 > 0:08:01isn't supposed to be the most exciting car on the planet,
0:08:01 > 0:08:05but what it is, it's a very, very fast, very discreet machine.
0:08:05 > 0:08:08Have a look at it from the outside. Could it look more ordinary?
0:08:08 > 0:08:10It looks like an Uber, doesn't it?
0:08:10 > 0:08:14But underneath that slightly grim, funereal exterior is
0:08:14 > 0:08:18a four-cylinder, supercharged and turbo-charged engine
0:08:18 > 0:08:21with 362 horsepower and 347 ft-lb of torque.
0:08:21 > 0:08:25It weighs just under 1,800kg, which seems an
0:08:25 > 0:08:30awful lot to me for something that is kind of just about Mondeo-sized.
0:08:30 > 0:08:32Nudge this lever left and you get sport mode,
0:08:32 > 0:08:34that means I get to change gear manually,
0:08:34 > 0:08:36a bit faster and with a little pop from the exhaust.
0:08:36 > 0:08:40In fact, an exhaust valve opens to give us a bit more parpiness.
0:08:40 > 0:08:42We like parpiness on Extra Gear.
0:08:42 > 0:08:45And it really is strolling along a bit here, I'm going quite quick.
0:08:45 > 0:08:48Oh, just concentrate for a minute. Blimey! There you go.
0:08:48 > 0:08:55It's not an M3 rival, but Polestar is Volvo's emerging go faster brand.
0:08:55 > 0:08:59It's going to be their RS or their AMG or their BMW M, I suppose,
0:08:59 > 0:09:02and I think they've done quite a good job
0:09:02 > 0:09:04and I quite like the discreet looks.
0:09:04 > 0:09:07It rather appeals to my inner old man and as I get older,
0:09:07 > 0:09:10my inner old man becomes more important to me.
0:09:10 > 0:09:13So well done, Volvo, on being fast and discreet.
0:09:14 > 0:09:17- APPLAUSE Good car.- Yeah.
0:09:17 > 0:09:20What a terrifying way to take your kids to school.
0:09:20 > 0:09:23Nothing terrifying about it. The performance is well contained.
0:09:23 > 0:09:25It's a really, really impressive package.
0:09:25 > 0:09:27No, he's talking about with Chris Harris at the wheel.
0:09:27 > 0:09:29I'd be scared if my kids were in the back.
0:09:29 > 0:09:32Look, why are we standing looking at this when there is this piece
0:09:32 > 0:09:36- of white splendour behind us? Come on.- This is true.- Look at this.
0:09:36 > 0:09:43950 brake horsepower, 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and over one million quid,
0:09:43 > 0:09:46but Ferrari didn't stop there.
0:09:46 > 0:09:51They made the FXX K, which is what you got to drive around Daytona.
0:09:51 > 0:09:54I mean, come on, Rory, that's not fair, is it?
0:09:54 > 0:09:55He's a lucky boy and I'm calling him out, man.
0:09:55 > 0:09:58You kind of stumbled in there as an interloper.
0:09:58 > 0:10:00You weren't deserving of that position.
0:10:00 > 0:10:02Look, I know I'm fraudulent.
0:10:02 > 0:10:04I was invited to drive the car, but not as a customer.
0:10:04 > 0:10:06Yeah, I shouldn't have been there,
0:10:06 > 0:10:09that's why I took everything I could, I got all the little soaps,
0:10:09 > 0:10:11you know, I went for everything - bath robe, you know?
0:10:11 > 0:10:14It was like a night in a hotel I shouldn't have been at, it really is.
0:10:14 > 0:10:19But, joking aside, this was a really special day for you, right?
0:10:19 > 0:10:21It looked like, you know, you probably didn't expect you were
0:10:21 > 0:10:23- ever going to be able to do this. - No, no, no. I'm a lucky boy,
0:10:23 > 0:10:26but that was up there with the best things I've ever done in a car.
0:10:26 > 0:10:30Well, I mean, shall we just take one more look and remind ourselves of that day.
0:10:30 > 0:10:32- If we have to.- As long as you make Rory watch it.- If we have to.
0:10:32 > 0:10:35Come watch it with me, brother.
0:10:37 > 0:10:40Drink it up. Drink it up. It's the last lap.
0:10:49 > 0:10:53Unbelievable. I'll never get to do that again.
0:10:53 > 0:10:56I'm staggered I've had a chance to do it in the first place.
0:11:01 > 0:11:04When the world's electric...
0:11:04 > 0:11:08I think I'll remember this day more than every other.
0:11:12 > 0:11:15APPLAUSE
0:11:19 > 0:11:24And, I mean, you say that you'll remember that day more than any other,
0:11:24 > 0:11:26er, don't you have kids?
0:11:26 > 0:11:31Yeah, but kids are one thing, FXX K, that's a whole different thing.
0:11:31 > 0:11:33I think you might be in trouble.
0:11:33 > 0:11:37Now, from Daytona, back to Dunsfold. For the first time tonight,
0:11:37 > 0:11:40Top Gear put a celebrity into a reasonably fast car.
0:11:40 > 0:11:42This one, in fact.
0:11:42 > 0:11:45James McAvoy was the first man up and he fully committed,
0:11:45 > 0:11:48but unfortunately conditions were against him.
0:11:48 > 0:11:52Before James came five brave souls who joined Chris and Rory at
0:11:52 > 0:11:55Dunsfold to set the first lap times.
0:11:55 > 0:11:59Today, we have a quintet of celebrities at the Top Gear test track.
0:11:59 > 0:12:05The original Top Gear test track, the one made of tarmac and nothing
0:12:05 > 0:12:09else and they're all aiming to get to the top of our brand-new,
0:12:09 > 0:12:13spotless, unsullied, empty celeb leaderboard.
0:12:13 > 0:12:17Now, health and safety being very important to us on Top Gear, we've
0:12:17 > 0:12:21laid on a little bit of extra help. A master, a coach, a sensei.
0:12:21 > 0:12:26Think of him as Mr Miyagi minus the chopsticks and with
0:12:26 > 0:12:28a lot more unresolved anger issues.
0:12:28 > 0:12:31It's Drill Sergeant Harris.
0:12:31 > 0:12:33Driving licence condition and convictions,
0:12:33 > 0:12:35previous and present, please.
0:12:35 > 0:12:40- Lost my licence once.- For what? - Just going a bit too fast.- Right.
0:12:40 > 0:12:42So you're a criminal. OK.
0:12:42 > 0:12:45- This here is a gear lever, those are some pedals.- Where's the reins?
0:12:45 > 0:12:47- FRANKIE LAUGHS - That's a good start.
0:12:47 > 0:12:49- Just go.- Let's go.
0:12:49 > 0:12:51TYRES SCREECH
0:12:51 > 0:12:55- That's an average start.- Right. There goes Frankie Dettori.
0:12:55 > 0:12:58A man who once won seven races in one day.
0:12:58 > 0:13:01He's owned several Ferraris and I think it's fair to say
0:13:01 > 0:13:05- he's a bit of a risk-taker, this gentleman.- Braking now!
0:13:05 > 0:13:06Through here to the right.
0:13:08 > 0:13:12- Oh, that felt... Oh, oh, oh! Oh, that was a bit- BLEEP.
0:13:12 > 0:13:15Listen to me - my mouth, not your head! Round to the left,
0:13:15 > 0:13:18round to the left, round to the left! Left, left, left!
0:13:18 > 0:13:22God, when I say left, will you turn left? Third gear.
0:13:22 > 0:13:24- That's fifth gear. Third gear. - FRANKIE GROANS
0:13:24 > 0:13:26Third gear. Third gear.
0:13:26 > 0:13:29That's it, now you're OK. Flat out, flat out, flat out!
0:13:29 > 0:13:31Come on! Come On!
0:13:31 > 0:13:34Do you know what? I really like the idea of you driving on your own.
0:13:34 > 0:13:36Don't be like that!
0:13:36 > 0:13:40It was time for Frankie to go up against the clock on his hot lap.
0:13:41 > 0:13:42Frankie's off!
0:13:46 > 0:13:49Heading into Chicago with unbridled enthusiasm.
0:13:52 > 0:13:56- "Unbridled", because it's a horse. - That's rubbish. That's really rubbish.
0:13:56 > 0:13:59Come on, power, power, power, power, power. Come on, little baby.
0:13:59 > 0:14:02Frankie is a quite confident chap, but I think after this lap,
0:14:02 > 0:14:04he'll have to get off his high horse.

0:16:01 > 0:16:05- met to lap a circuit in a car. - Do you want a hug?- Yeah.
0:16:08 > 0:16:11The moment of truth. Could Shazia complete a timed lap on her own?

0:16:17 > 0:16:19- Yeah.- She's still in first.
0:16:22 > 0:16:24You know when you see... You're in a supermarket and you see a kid being

0:17:12 > 0:17:15Yeah. She's gone again. She's started another lap.
0:17:15 > 0:17:21After finally crossing the line, Shazia's time was a 2.07.9,
0:17:21 > 0:17:23leaving her in second place,
0:17:23 > 0:17:27but this was most definitely a technicality.

0:17:51 > 0:17:53Third. Stop, stop. And second and second.
0:17:53 > 0:17:55- That was cheeky, don't cheat. - Was I over the line?- Yes.

0:18:21 > 0:18:26- be a dental records job. Best of luck.- Thank you.
0:18:30 > 0:18:34- Then George turned up to help with the timekeeping.- He can drive.
0:18:34 > 0:18:36- He's clearly co-ordinated. - Oh, here we go.

0:19:03 > 0:19:04No, he's on.
0:19:09 > 0:19:12That was quick with a capital Q.
0:19:14 > 0:19:17Thankfully no dental records were required

0:19:37 > 0:19:40- That way?- No, right!- That way. - Right, man!
0:19:40 > 0:19:44Like all impersonators, artistes, you're too busy being a show pony!
0:19:44 > 0:19:48Too much jazz hat, not enough nitty-gritty. Left here, left here.
0:19:48 > 0:19:50- Right-hand side of the line? - Right-hand side of the...
0:19:50 > 0:19:52Do you know your left from your right?
0:19:52 > 0:19:56No, you don't, do you? Don't brake, don't brake! Go flat out, flat out!
0:19:56 > 0:20:00- Yes! And then we've got this one last corner to get through.- Yeah.
0:20:00 > 0:20:03One last impression to get through. Go on, over the line, flat out.
0:20:03 > 0:20:07- IMPERSONATES ALAN BENNETT: - It's times like this you think, "What would Alan Bennett do?"
0:20:07 > 0:20:09"He were a lovely man."
0:20:09 > 0:20:12If he can channel his inner Alan Bennett, think how good he'll be round the track.
0:20:12 > 0:20:15Do you reckon he could channel his inner Lewis Hamilton?
0:20:16 > 0:20:18I believe in you, Culshaw.
0:20:21 > 0:20:25It's very exhilarating when you get used to it.
0:20:33 > 0:20:36A 1.53.0 dead for Jon.
0:20:36 > 0:20:39Not quite Lewis Hamilton, but at least not bottom of the leaderboard.
0:20:40 > 0:20:42Remind me, how many cars have you written off?
0:20:42 > 0:20:45- Two out of four.- Good. Let's go. - This is the fifth.
0:20:49 > 0:20:53There goes Ore Oduba, champion of Strictly Come Dancing, no less.
0:20:53 > 0:20:56This is a man who doesn't own a car currently, because every car
0:20:56 > 0:20:59he's ever owned he's written off and yet we felt it necessary
0:20:59 > 0:21:02to let him loose in ours.
0:21:02 > 0:21:05- That might come back to bite us on the backside.- Left here, left here.
0:21:05 > 0:21:08- Slow down, slow down. Left, left, left.- Oh, we're going there.
0:21:08 > 0:21:12- We're going down there.- Great. OK. - Second gear. Slow down. Stop, stop.
0:21:12 > 0:21:14- That's an amazing start. - That went well.
0:21:14 > 0:21:16I'm looking at these twinkle toes.
0:21:16 > 0:21:19- I'm told you dance on the pedals. - I'm dancing on the pedals.
0:21:19 > 0:21:23- Right-hand side, right-hand side. This is getting good now.- Oh! - This is getting good.
0:21:24 > 0:21:26Whoa! That was a new one.
0:21:26 > 0:21:28Whoa, that's fast. Left, left, left.
0:21:31 > 0:21:33Brake! Brake! And brake and brake.
0:21:35 > 0:21:38- Whoa! Whoa! I'm alive! - It's worth it, isn't it?
0:21:38 > 0:21:40I'm alive, Harris. I'm alive.
0:21:40 > 0:21:43- Do you like it?- I do. I feel a little bit sick.
0:21:43 > 0:21:45Before his timed lap, Ore did a couple of
0:21:45 > 0:21:49solo practice laps to get more of a feel for the circuit.
0:21:49 > 0:21:50I am loving this.
0:21:54 > 0:21:57- That seemed like a bad idea. - Look at that.
0:21:57 > 0:21:59I can see the coaching coming out in him now.
0:21:59 > 0:22:02That's why it's in second gear! Argh!
0:22:02 > 0:22:04Watch this new line through here. Watch this now. Watch this!
0:22:08 > 0:22:11Oh, yeah, you've really taught him well, mate(!)
0:22:11 > 0:22:13Is it even possible to spin a car there?
0:22:13 > 0:22:16Is that the new wider line you were talking about?
0:22:16 > 0:22:18And after that spectacular off,
0:22:18 > 0:22:21it was anyone's guess how the actual lap would go.
0:22:23 > 0:22:27Ah! That's a poor start.
0:22:27 > 0:22:29I think he's lost about three seconds with that start alone.
0:22:29 > 0:22:33- Have you...have you removed George from the stopwatch duties?- I have.
0:22:33 > 0:22:37- I mean, he wasn't cutting it. - Just don't spin the car.
0:22:40 > 0:22:42Oh, no, look, he's round there beautifully.
0:22:42 > 0:22:46Don't spin it out, don't spin it out.
0:22:46 > 0:22:49Come on! COME ON!
0:22:49 > 0:22:53- Yes! And the time is? - That's possibly good.
0:22:53 > 0:22:55After getting back on the proverbial horse,
0:22:55 > 0:23:00Ore set a 1.45.7 and stole second place from Frankie.
0:23:01 > 0:23:06And as the day ended at Dunsfold, Max Whitlock bagged another gold.
0:23:06 > 0:23:09No doubt the most important of his career.
0:23:09 > 0:23:10How long can he stay at the top?
0:23:10 > 0:23:12Well, that's anyone's guess.
0:23:14 > 0:23:18Yeah, no fatalities! A mixed bag though, were they?
0:23:18 > 0:23:22Yeah, lots of different skill levels and different levels of bravery
0:23:22 > 0:23:23is what I'd say, yeah.
0:23:23 > 0:23:26Rory, we've got a completely different car this year,
0:23:26 > 0:23:28more powerful than anything we've had before.
0:23:28 > 0:23:30- What does that mean for the future? - Definitely.
0:23:30 > 0:23:33200 horsepower, but the key thing about the GT86 is the tyres.
0:23:33 > 0:23:36It's got the same rubber that they use on a Toyota Prius,
0:23:36 > 0:23:38so it's really slippery, it's not about grip,
0:23:38 > 0:23:42it's about getting the car to slide, so they have to balance that
0:23:42 > 0:23:44and fight against the slipperiness of the car, and the power
0:23:44 > 0:23:46doesn't necessarily mean they're always going to go quicker.
0:23:46 > 0:23:49Some people might actually go slower in a rear wheel drive car.
0:23:49 > 0:23:52Yeah, for once I agree with him. He's talking sense. Are you feeling OK?
0:23:52 > 0:23:54So, maybe this is a future career as a driving instructor for you?
0:23:54 > 0:23:56Absolutely not.
0:23:56 > 0:23:59It's terrifying, frankly, because you've got no control.
0:23:59 > 0:24:03The amount of times I play air brake pedal and go, "Whoa! Whoa! Slow down!"
0:24:03 > 0:24:06We saw. It's quite an emotional journey for you.
0:24:06 > 0:24:09I think we've got a few clips of you in the car.
0:24:09 > 0:24:11CHRIS GROANS
0:24:11 > 0:24:13Ho-ho-ho! Smash it!
0:24:13 > 0:24:16Go, brake, brake! Power, power, power!
0:24:16 > 0:24:18Argh!
0:24:18 > 0:24:20- LAUGHTER - Yeah.
0:24:20 > 0:24:24- Relaxing, was it?- Look, it's quite full-on, so fair play to them.
0:24:24 > 0:24:28Anyone that undertakes the challenge, in my book, fair play.
0:24:28 > 0:24:32A very special thank you to Frankie Dettori, Shazia Mirza, Max Whitlock,
0:24:32 > 0:24:36Jon Culshaw and Ore Oduba. That's all we have time for tonight,
