0:01:58 > 0:02:00But back when they were 12,

0:02:00 > 0:02:04Misha B, Union J and Amelia Lily weren't always little stars.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06I was quite mischievous.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09I loved doing what I wanted to do.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13This boost of energy just came out of me

0:02:13 > 0:02:17and I just knew that I wanted to be on a stage all the time.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22My hobbies - I guess I loved eating. That was a hobby.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25They're all living in the limelight today,

0:02:25 > 0:02:26but it wasn't always that way,

0:02:26 > 0:02:30so let's rewind and find out what they were like when they were 12.

0:02:32 > 0:02:39When I was 12, I was very bubbly. They used to call me Motormouth.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Motormouth Misha, because I talked so much.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46I was quite outgoing. I was really talkative as well.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49I'd literally talk to anyone about anything.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52I think I got on people's nerves sometimes, I talked so much.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54I can remember being really shy,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57but all of a sudden I'd get hyper spells where I'd just go crazy

0:02:57 > 0:02:59and jump around and get told off.

0:02:59 > 0:03:00- Not much has changed, then!- No.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04My personality was a little bit cheeky.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07I liked to laugh, so I always used to crack the jokes.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13I was kind of like a quiet kid, but I always loved to have fun

0:03:13 > 0:03:15and wanted to go out and enjoy myself.

0:03:15 > 0:03:20Ah, happy days. And when they were 12, were they fashionistas,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22or more fashion faux-pas?

0:03:22 > 0:03:24I discovered gel for the first time when I was 12.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26Do you remember gelling your hair for the first time?

0:03:26 > 0:03:29And there used to be that old Michael Owen quiff, the huge

0:03:29 > 0:03:32gelled-up...and then nothing here, so this was like a fluff ball,

0:03:32 > 0:03:36and then just a greasy quiff!

0:03:36 > 0:03:37I was quite small.

0:03:37 > 0:03:41I've grown quite quick in a short space of time.

0:03:41 > 0:03:46- I also think I was quite cute. - You can't say that about yourself!

0:03:46 > 0:03:49I can say that, because I'm not cute any more.

0:03:49 > 0:03:51You know what I mean, I'm living in the past.

0:03:53 > 0:03:54I was a bit of a tomboy.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57When it came to my image and stuff,

0:03:57 > 0:04:02I used to like wearing baggy clothes, like dungarees. Surprise, surprise!

0:04:05 > 0:04:07Bullying was a big thing for me at school.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10I was the only kid in the school with dreads.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13I was sitting on the bus and somebody actually tied my dreads

0:04:13 > 0:04:17to the seat of the bus, where the bell was, and I had no idea.

0:04:17 > 0:04:22So I got up to get off at my stop and then got pulled

0:04:22 > 0:04:24back down again by my own dreads!

0:04:24 > 0:04:28But I went through it. And look at me now.

0:04:30 > 0:04:34Fashion for me when I was about 12 was all over the place.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37My Nana was a bit of a country music fan,

0:04:37 > 0:04:41so she got me into it and I started wearing cowboy boots and cowboy hats,

0:04:41 > 0:04:43thinking I was from Tennessee.

0:04:43 > 0:04:48But I think it's great, going through all those fashion disasters

0:04:48 > 0:04:52or whatever you want to call them, to figure out who you are as a person.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Yee ha! Take that, Amelia,

0:04:54 > 0:04:56there's nothing wrong with a bit of individuality.

0:04:56 > 0:05:00And what fun stuff did our talent show stars get involved in

0:05:00 > 0:05:02when they were kids?

0:05:02 > 0:05:05When I was 12, I actually did a swimathon for charity.

0:05:05 > 0:05:10I did 3.5 miles, and literally, I did breaststroke

0:05:10 > 0:05:13the whole way, and my hands were stuck like that when I came out.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15Stuck.

0:05:15 > 0:05:16I was 11 when I got Pudsey.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23I cried then. I cry a lot. I am an emotional person.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26You've got tears in your eyes!

0:05:26 > 0:05:29I've trained dogs my whole life,

0:05:29 > 0:05:31so we started training straightaway,

0:05:31 > 0:05:34doing the basics first of all, but nothing like he knows now.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36You look after him properly.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40I always wanted to be a jockey,

0:05:40 > 0:05:44so if I wasn't playing with my friends, I was with the ponies.

0:05:44 > 0:05:47- Can you please call them horses? - No, because they were ponies.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49- Ponies are smaller ones. - Oh, I didn't know that.

0:05:49 > 0:05:53- I thought pony was a breed of horse. - No, you get ponies and then horses.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Aren't ponies girl horses?

0:05:55 > 0:05:59- No, ponies, they're fillies, that's called a filly.- A who?

0:05:59 > 0:06:01- A filly?- A filly.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04- Yeah, they're young horses. - No, that's called a foal.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07Will everybody stop horsing about?!

0:06:10 > 0:06:14I want to know what our celebs' ambitions were when they were kids.

0:06:14 > 0:06:16I knew that when I was 12 I wanted

0:06:16 > 0:06:22to pursue a career in something to do with music.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25I just didn't know how or when.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28I started writing poems when I was about nine

0:06:28 > 0:06:31and I started taking it seriously when I was about 12.

0:06:31 > 0:06:35Then I kind of led onto the rapping and then the music.

0:06:35 > 0:06:39I used to try and get in school plays and stuff,

0:06:39 > 0:06:42but I used to get the role of the cucumber at the back.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44"You can be the cucumber."

0:06:44 > 0:06:46"Why? I want to be the lead singer."

0:06:46 > 0:06:48But they'd always put me at the back.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51I wanted to be a singer and a dancer, so I did drama classes

0:06:51 > 0:06:57and was in the choir. I just spent a lot of time

0:06:57 > 0:06:59working on this career now.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02I think that's what's helped me get to where I am now,

0:07:02 > 0:07:04it's working hard from a young age.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10I wanted to be a chef in school.

0:07:10 > 0:07:11We had food technology,

0:07:11 > 0:07:14and I would get excited about food technology,

0:07:14 > 0:07:18because I wanted to prove to my teacher that not only

0:07:18 > 0:07:21can I do what you can do, but I can do it better.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24Everyone else's pasta bake looked the same, but mine was different.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27I had breadcrumbs on the top, a bit of parsley in the middle.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30People were like, "That looks nice!"

0:07:30 > 0:07:35I'm like, "Yeah! This is my dish! I made this!"

0:07:35 > 0:07:38I always had one ambition, to be on a stage,

0:07:38 > 0:07:41so one day I picked up a guitar and said to my brother,

0:07:41 > 0:07:42can you teach me four chords?

0:07:42 > 0:07:45And he did and I wrote my first song.

0:07:45 > 0:07:47I'm so grateful, and the fact I had this ambition

0:07:47 > 0:07:50starting from nine years of age,

0:07:50 > 0:07:55as cheesy as it sounds, dreams can come true.

0:07:55 > 0:07:59Amelia, you're such an inspiration. I'm off to get dreaming.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02But before that, let's find out what chart-topping tracks

0:08:02 > 0:08:04our stars were listening to when they were kids.

0:08:04 > 0:08:09My favourite tune of all time is Black Eyed Peas, Where Is The Love?

0:08:09 > 0:08:11# What's wrong with the world, mama?

0:08:11 > 0:08:14# People living like they ain't got no mamas... #

0:08:14 > 0:08:17I'd bang that on and it brings me back to chilling with my mates

0:08:17 > 0:08:19and listening to the Black Eyed Peas.

0:08:20 > 0:08:24Back in 2003, the Black Eyed Peas featured none other than

0:08:24 > 0:08:28The Voice's cooler than cool talent judge, Mr will.i.am.

0:08:28 > 0:08:30Their smash hit, Where Is The Love,

0:08:30 > 0:08:32questions some of the big problems in the world,

0:08:32 > 0:08:35like racism, terrorism and greed.

0:08:35 > 0:08:36# It only generates hate,

0:08:36 > 0:08:39# And when you hate you're bound to get irate. #

0:08:39 > 0:08:43The video to that, it has a little question mark,

0:08:43 > 0:08:45and I used to stamp it everywhere, like where is the love?

0:08:45 > 0:08:49- And I used to write that everywhere. - He did it with a Biro.

0:08:49 > 0:08:53Like that - exclamation mark, question mark,

0:08:53 > 0:08:57- exclamation mark, question mark. - Yeah. It looked awful.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00- That is genius. - # And you turn the other cheek

0:09:00 > 0:09:06# Father, father, father, help us Need some guidance from above

0:09:06 > 0:09:09# People got me, got me questioning

0:09:09 > 0:09:11# Where is the love?

0:09:11 > 0:09:16# Where is the love? Where is the love?

0:09:16 > 0:09:22# Where is the love? Where is the love, the love, the love? #

0:09:22 > 0:09:23A lot of loves.

0:09:23 > 0:09:25A lot of love indeed, Jay,

0:09:25 > 0:09:28and what was making 12-year-old Amelia Lily feel the love

0:09:28 > 0:09:30back in 2007?

0:09:30 > 0:09:33One of the big hits for me when I was 12 was Taylor Swift's Our Song.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36# I was riding shotgun with my hair undone

0:09:36 > 0:09:39# In the front seat of his car... #

0:09:39 > 0:09:41That, for me, was the song of the year.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45# The other on my heart... #

0:09:45 > 0:09:50She kind of reminded me of myself. She had long, blonde hair - I did.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53She was in these pretty little dresses

0:09:53 > 0:09:55and I always liked to wear pretty dresses.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57# And he said...

0:09:57 > 0:09:59# Our song is a slam of screen doors

0:09:59 > 0:10:02# Sneaking out late tapping on his window

0:10:02 > 0:10:05# When we're on the phone and you talk real slow

0:10:05 > 0:10:08# Cos it's late and your mama don't know. #

0:10:08 > 0:10:12Ooooh. Lovely. Now, although Our Song never charted in the UK,

0:10:12 > 0:10:15it was ma-hoo-sive in the US of A

0:10:15 > 0:10:20and handed 18-year-old Taylor Swift the record of youngest ever artist

0:10:20 > 0:10:24to write and record a number-one hit in the US Country Charts.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27I really took an inspiring message from her

0:10:27 > 0:10:32and I really felt like I connected with her music, when I was 12.

0:10:32 > 0:10:36'She really opened my eyes about how amazing country music is as well'

0:10:36 > 0:10:39and I don't think it's appreciated that much in this country.

0:10:39 > 0:10:43But in America, obviously, it's a massive deal over there.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45But she's brought it over here.

0:10:45 > 0:10:49She's done her work, so, go on, Taylor.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51# Our song... #

0:10:53 > 0:10:55There are songs that I listen to

0:10:55 > 0:10:58that a lot of people wouldn't expect me to listen to at the age of 12.

0:10:58 > 0:11:01But I did not care.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04Right now, you're going to find out secrets.

0:11:04 > 0:11:08I loved, and up to now, I still love it,

0:11:08 > 0:11:11Lighthouse Family, Ocean Drive.

0:11:11 > 0:11:15# Say it's true, pink and blue... #

0:11:15 > 0:11:18If you want to know a bit about '90s middle-of-the-road pop

0:11:18 > 0:11:21then look no further than The Lighthouse Family.

0:11:21 > 0:11:23And Tunde Baiyewu's distinctive vocals

0:11:23 > 0:11:28took young Turbo on a laidback ride down Ocean Drive.

0:11:28 > 0:11:30'To be honest, when I was young, I didn't know what he was saying.'

0:11:30 > 0:11:34HE MIMICS TUNDE'S SINGING

0:11:34 > 0:11:38All that. Huh? I don't know. Was he singing, I don't know?

0:11:38 > 0:11:42# When the clouds arrive, we'll live on... #

0:11:42 > 0:11:48# Ocean Drive... # Like, that bit... happy.

0:11:48 > 0:11:50I'm happy that you're happy.

0:11:52 > 0:11:56back when she was 12.

0:11:56 > 0:11:59One particular song that I really, really liked when I was 12

0:11:59 > 0:12:02was Mika's Grace Kelly.

0:12:04 > 0:12:07# I could be violet sky, I could be anything,

0:12:07 > 0:12:10# I could be anything you like... #

0:12:12 > 0:12:15Mika was a professionally-trained opera singer

0:12:15 > 0:12:21before he rocketed to fame with four Top Ten hits in 2007.

0:12:25 > 0:12:29- He was just really refreshing. - Kerching!

0:12:29 > 0:12:31Well, now we know what Ashleigh liked,

0:12:31 > 0:12:34it'd be rude not to ask what music floats Pudsey's boat?

0:12:34 > 0:12:37Pudsey absolutely loves upbeat songs.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39He loved Gangnam Style.
