0:00:07 > 0:00:10I don't even know where to begin. The shoot was amazing.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13Well, I kind of knew coming into a job with three other guys,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15I thought, "It's going to be a ball.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17"It's going to be fun." And it was exactly that.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21Since day one, I think we all clicked. It's just been...

0:00:21 > 0:00:22It's been so much fun.

0:00:22 > 0:00:26They all bring something so different to the group.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28A lot of fun to work with. Sometimes too much fun.

0:00:30 > 0:00:34Jake, Sam, you will orienteer a seven kilometre walk

0:00:34 > 0:00:35with Andy and Felix.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38Brains and brawn. Excellent choice, sir.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42- There's a shortcut.- Maybe it's not such a good idea to leave the path.

0:00:42 > 0:00:43Let's go.

0:00:46 > 0:00:47HE BIRD CALLS

0:00:49 > 0:00:52The show is about four boys who get lost in a forest,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55and when they come back to their own world,

0:00:55 > 0:00:58'they've come to an alternate reality where they were never born.

0:00:58 > 0:01:03'So the idea is what would happen if you didn't exist anymore?

0:01:03 > 0:01:04'What would the world be like with out you,

0:01:04 > 0:01:07'and how would your family have changed,

0:01:07 > 0:01:11'how would your relationships have changed if you hadn't been there?'

0:01:16 > 0:01:17Run! Run!

0:01:22 > 0:01:26My name is Joel Lok. I play Andy. Andy Lau.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28My name's Rahart Sadiqzai and I play Sam.

0:01:28 > 0:01:32My name's Matt Testro. I play Jake Riles.

0:01:32 > 0:01:37Dougie Baldwin. I play Felix Ferne, who's the Goth.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41He begins the start of the series as the stereotypical nerd.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44'Then you come to realise as the series progresses that,

0:01:44 > 0:01:48'you know, he's actually got a lot of qualities of a leader,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51'in a sense. His family have always been really protective

0:01:51 > 0:01:56'and haven't really given him the opportunity to go and explore

0:01:56 > 0:01:58'and be independent, and do all those things'

0:01:58 > 0:02:00that he's always aspired to do.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03'Sam's journey is a big one.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06'He goes from being the one that everybody loves,

0:02:06 > 0:02:10'everyone wants to be with, everybody wants to be him,

0:02:10 > 0:02:14'to being the outcast.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18'He finally gets to see what it's like to be the other'

0:02:18 > 0:02:21person on the other side of popularity.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Jake is very grounded.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29He is very mature, but to some he comes off as the bully at school.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32He's the sporty jock, he's the footy captain.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35'He's insecure about his home life, it's broken.

0:02:35 > 0:02:40'He doesn't seem to have anything that he's proud of at home.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43'When they get lost, at first he's the man of the group

0:02:43 > 0:02:45'and he makes sure that they survive.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47'He's very practical and logical.'

0:02:47 > 0:02:53'He's cynical. He's had the bad side of life.'

0:02:53 > 0:02:55He's only had people ridiculing him.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58He's had people constantly disputing everything he does.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00'He realises what everyone else is going through,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03'that he's not the only one that might have problems.'

0:03:03 > 0:03:07'Some things that are really similar between Sam the character

0:03:07 > 0:03:11'and me, myself, Rahart, is a love for food.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14'I...

0:03:14 > 0:03:20'I love food. There's no two ways about it. That's a big part of Sam.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24'In the series it's always on his mind, he's always hungry.'

0:03:24 > 0:03:28Jake's probably a lot more grounded than I am.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31'I'm quite an outgoing type.'

0:03:36 > 0:03:40The shoot was 13 weeks, I believe.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42'I remember at the start of the shoot,

0:03:42 > 0:03:45'I used to be able to go to work with like three hours' sleep.

0:03:45 > 0:03:50'Then, towards the end of it, eight hours wasn't even enough.'

0:03:50 > 0:03:52I got here at 5.22am.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55- I'm going to get some breakfast. - Deep breath.

0:03:55 > 0:04:00This is Matt and my pre-scene workout.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04- Helps us get into character. - It's like acting as a muscle.

0:04:04 > 0:04:05Like any other muscle you would use.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08Sorry, Christine, but we're doing Behind The Scenes.

0:04:08 > 0:04:10I might just have to move you over somewhere else.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13We're going to have to move. Come with us, come with us.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16This is one of our walks.

0:04:16 > 0:04:17We do certain...

0:04:18 > 0:04:21- Like this.- You have to stretch the muscle. Work it.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23Every single muscle of the body.

0:04:23 > 0:04:24I'm ready.

0:04:28 > 0:04:30As you can see, I voluntarily get in.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34I stay here during lunch and I sleep here overnight.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36- That's right. Ready for tomorrow.- Yeah.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38You are all about saving time.

0:04:38 > 0:04:39How do I stay warm?

0:04:41 > 0:04:44I've got this top, this top, this jacket, this jacket,

0:04:44 > 0:04:46and a hot water bottle.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49Then, if I want to, I can get a hot chocolate.

0:04:49 > 0:04:51Yeah!

0:04:52 > 0:04:53Lunch time, look at it.

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Spaghetti chicken pasta.

0:05:01 > 0:05:05Yeah, so people think that we don't go to school because we're on set.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07- They go to school. - This is school.

0:05:07 > 0:05:08I've been doing Year 12.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10I'm in my final year this year,

0:05:10 > 0:05:14so I've been balancing my Year 12 studies

0:05:14 > 0:05:17with my onscreen work and my work lifestyle.

0:05:17 > 0:05:21Every ten minutes that I get free on set will be time spend doing

0:05:21 > 0:05:25essays and time spent researching.

0:05:25 > 0:05:26This is the tutoring room.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29It was a green room, but it's been transformed into a tutoring room.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32Joel doesn't spend any time here cos he doesn't go to school.

0:05:32 > 0:05:33No time. No time at all.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35I spend a lot of time in here.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38I usually have the green room all to myself.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41- Where he sleeps and listens to music.- Sleeps, eats.

0:05:42 > 0:05:47Everyone knows me as the one that sleeps all the time.

0:05:47 > 0:05:51'On shoot, you can definitely see me sleeping in deck chairs

0:05:51 > 0:05:52'at every opportunity.'

0:05:52 > 0:05:56Today on set we are introducing the tea trolley.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58This is where we keep assorted biscuits.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00Assorted biscuits for the day.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29By the time everything was done in the day onset,

0:06:29 > 0:06:33'it would probably be about six o'clock,

0:06:33 > 0:06:35'by the time everything was done.

0:06:35 > 0:06:39'Then I'd get home an rehearse for the next day.

0:06:39 > 0:06:44'By the time that was done, I'd probably get to bed by 10-10.30.'

0:06:44 > 0:06:46Then be up at four the next morning.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02I feel like I am the most masculine.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04Are we just going to keep throwing balls?

0:07:09 > 0:07:11There was just basically myself, Joel and Dougie

0:07:11 > 0:07:15running around a gym, beating each other up, getting videoed.

0:07:15 > 0:07:16So that was fun.

0:07:36 > 0:07:41- Day four of shooting.- Yeah.- It's been crazy.- We just TP-ed an entire gym.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43It was awesome.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45- We had lacrosse. - We got really sweaty.

0:07:45 > 0:07:47I was just sitting there watching.

0:07:47 > 0:07:48I didn't get to do it.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50Aw!

0:07:50 > 0:07:53THEY SHOUT

0:08:06 > 0:08:08- BOTH:- There's a demon.

0:08:08 > 0:08:13There's a demon chasing us, and Dougie and I...

0:08:13 > 0:08:16There's a demon chasing us, and Dougie and I can't get in.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18Then these two are at the door trying to help us.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21When we finally get the door open...

0:08:21 > 0:08:25When we finally get the door open, the demon comes out and haunts us.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28He's trying to get in and trying to haunt us.

0:08:28 > 0:08:29- He, she?- He, she...

0:08:29 > 0:08:32"Cloaked figure" is what the script says.

0:08:33 > 0:08:37Yeah, and we're just pretty much really, really scared.

0:08:37 > 0:08:38Action.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42FAN WHIRS

0:08:42 > 0:08:43It shouts.

0:08:44 > 0:08:45Run into the forest.

0:08:48 > 0:08:52- Let's ask you where this place is. Where are we?- Where are we, huh?

0:08:52 > 0:08:54That's right, the hideout.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00WHIRRING

0:09:05 > 0:09:07SHOUTING

0:09:19 > 0:09:20- How does that feel?- Yeah, good.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26COUGHING

0:09:28 > 0:09:29Oh, that was so fun!

0:09:29 > 0:09:31- Whoo!- That was fun.

0:09:31 > 0:09:34- That was intense.- A lot of yelling. - One of my favourite scenes.

0:09:34 > 0:09:38- Crazy.- Especially... Difficult.- With that fan.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41It made it easy cos it was blowing the thing in your face.

0:09:41 > 0:09:42It was great.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45There was a lot of dust. I've got a lot of dust in my mouth still.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47In my nose, in my mouth.

0:09:47 > 0:09:50- My eyes, my ears.- Yeah, there's still a bit of grass in your hair.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53Let me. Let me get that for you.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55Got it? Have you got it?

0:09:55 > 0:09:56I've got it, I've got it.

0:09:56 > 0:09:57Have you got it?

0:09:57 > 0:09:58No, I haven't got it.

0:10:02 > 0:10:04This is Billy, my stunt double.

0:10:04 > 0:10:07- Hello.- We look alike, don't we?

0:10:07 > 0:10:13Yeah. But, no, when the helmet's on, we look exactly the same.

0:10:13 > 0:10:16Pretty much whenever I have to do any skating, he's here right with me.

0:10:16 > 0:10:17And action.

0:10:26 > 0:10:29In the scene we had to do today, Billy had to do some...

0:10:29 > 0:10:33Or Sam had to do some aerial tricks.

0:10:33 > 0:10:34- Did you do a kick flip today?- Yeah.

0:10:34 > 0:10:39Couple of kick flips and whatnot. We did some fake skating as well.

0:10:39 > 0:10:43A bit of these. Pretending without a skateboard.

0:10:43 > 0:10:46I think it was for sound.

0:10:46 > 0:10:48Yeah, cos the skating echoed.

0:10:48 > 0:10:50Yeah, the sound of the skateboard echoing.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52This is the part where he saves my life.

0:10:52 > 0:10:54This is the part where he actually does the trick.

0:10:54 > 0:10:55Am I nervous for him?

0:10:57 > 0:10:58Heh... Hell yeah.

0:11:12 > 0:11:13CHEERING

0:11:18 > 0:11:19He did well.

0:11:19 > 0:11:22I was hoping they'd give me a shot.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25'There was the mat there and everything for the first time.

0:11:25 > 0:11:28'I was like, "Yeah, I could do this," but then, he made it look easy.'

0:11:32 > 0:11:36Hi, I'm Darci McDonald and I play Ellen.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38I'm Tamala Shelton, and I play Mia.

0:11:38 > 0:11:40This is... What's your last name?

0:11:40 > 0:11:44- Eh... - Jesse Jesse.- Is it Jesse Williams?

0:11:44 > 0:11:46- Jesse Williams.- This is Jesse... Is it actually?

0:11:46 > 0:11:50- Yeah, it is.- OK. This is Jesse Williams, and he plays Sammy.

0:11:50 > 0:11:53They're constantly giving us putdowns. Yeah...

0:11:53 > 0:11:55They're just jealous, really.

0:11:55 > 0:11:59Joel is always sleeping. Just never stops.

0:11:59 > 0:12:04The best part was when I got to do awesome stunts with Joel.

0:12:04 > 0:12:09- I saved her life.- He saved me from a bus. That was pretty fun.

0:12:09 > 0:12:12What else did...? I don't know, I've just enjoyed everything, really.

0:12:12 > 0:12:16This is the lovely Michala Banas, who plays Phoebe in the show.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18She's our creepy auntie. MICHALA LAUGHS

0:12:18 > 0:12:21I thought that coming on to a show with four teenage boys

0:12:21 > 0:12:23was going to be hard work.

0:12:23 > 0:12:25Cos sometimes teenage boys are hard work.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28No! You know what, they've been great.

0:12:28 > 0:12:32'They've been like mates.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35'They've formed a really nice bond together, the four of them,

0:12:35 > 0:12:37'and then as someone who comes in and out of the show,

0:12:37 > 0:12:39'I just felt really comfortable.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44'They're all really good, decent guys.'

0:12:45 > 0:12:48Michala, as professional as she is, she laughed out of place one time

0:12:48 > 0:12:51because she heard a motorbike and she thought it sounded like a fart.

0:12:51 > 0:12:53- I remember that. - It totally did though!

0:12:53 > 0:12:55It was in the hideout back there.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58- It totally... It sounded like a fart.- It did.

0:12:58 > 0:12:59This is Damien.

0:13:00 > 0:13:03- He's just awesome.- Thanks.

0:13:04 > 0:13:05Cut that, then.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08We're done here, I think.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10Damien? Well, he's just been fantastic.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12He's absolutely hilarious off set.

0:13:14 > 0:13:18'Just such a great actor to work with on set.

0:13:18 > 0:13:21'To have him opposite you just helps so much.'

0:13:21 > 0:13:24I think it boosts the performance in the scene in general.

0:13:24 > 0:13:26Being possessed. Well, the demented chicken,

0:13:26 > 0:13:28as they've been calling it. Yeah, I've heard about that.

0:13:28 > 0:13:31I'm not sure they had any control in that

0:13:31 > 0:13:33or are even meant to do that to be a chicken.

0:13:34 > 0:13:40'I just saw Nick, who's playing the school teacher, being possessed.

0:13:40 > 0:13:42'I thought it was fantastic.'

0:13:42 > 0:13:43I thought he did a really good job of it.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45So I tried to do my version of him,

0:13:45 > 0:13:48but apparently it looks more like a chicken.

0:13:49 > 0:13:52At one point, Dam-o hissed.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55I did. Well, the take had been going on for a while.

0:13:55 > 0:13:57We'd been rolling for quite a while, so I thought,

0:13:57 > 0:13:59"The editors have got enough here to cut in,

0:13:59 > 0:14:01"so why don't I give them a hiss?" Chuck in a...

0:14:01 > 0:14:03HE HISSES

0:14:23 > 0:14:25That dog looks like a Pokemon.

0:14:25 > 0:14:27Like Pikachu.

0:14:27 > 0:14:31- I'm Sarah from Film Livestock. This is Caroline.- Hi.

0:14:32 > 0:14:35We've got these fine gentlemen chasing us.

0:14:35 > 0:14:36They're pretty placid right now.

0:14:36 > 0:14:40But when you see them, they do have...

0:14:40 > 0:14:43Their inner demons come out.

0:14:43 > 0:14:45SHOUTING

0:14:45 > 0:14:47Fred, Deacon, Taya, go!

0:14:47 > 0:14:49DOGS BARK

0:14:55 > 0:14:58- We've got Fred over here. - Stay. Yeah.

0:14:58 > 0:15:02So Fred's actually mine in the TV show.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05This is Taya. Her real name's Taya.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08You've got Duffy over here. She's 12 weeks old.

0:15:09 > 0:15:11This is Deacon. Is it Deacon?

0:15:11 > 0:15:13Deacon.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15How do you get them to attack us?

0:15:15 > 0:15:18SARAH: We've had about three weeks of prep on these dogs,

0:15:18 > 0:15:20so it's a process.

0:15:20 > 0:15:22Luckily we've had some volunteers at home who have played you

0:15:22 > 0:15:25guys for us over the time that we've been training,

0:15:25 > 0:15:28so we've just taught the dogs to run after the people.

0:15:28 > 0:15:35They've also been trained to show aggression behaviours.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37Whatever you do, don't look him in the eye.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39How do you do that?

0:15:39 > 0:15:41It's a lot of positive reinforcement,

0:15:41 > 0:15:44'so what we do is we shape the behaviour of the dogs,

0:15:44 > 0:15:46'so they'll offer us maybe just a little bit

0:15:46 > 0:15:49'of something that we like - maybe just a lip lift -

0:15:49 > 0:15:51'and we reward that,

0:15:51 > 0:15:52'and we build on it.'

0:15:52 > 0:15:53Can you get one of them to growl now?

0:15:53 > 0:15:54SHE HISSES

0:15:57 > 0:15:58SHE HISSES

0:16:03 > 0:16:04Yes, good girl.

0:16:12 > 0:16:13Are you guys OK?

0:16:13 > 0:16:16Dude, come on. We've got to get out of here.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34This is Sean and he's being Dougie for today,

0:16:34 > 0:16:36because Dougie's pre-occupied.

0:16:36 > 0:16:37I'm Dougie.

0:16:37 > 0:16:41And I'm Matt, and we're filming the climax of the series.

0:16:41 > 0:16:46So if you haven't seen all the episodes yet, spoiler alert.

0:16:46 > 0:16:47MACHINE WHIRS

0:16:50 > 0:16:51Here it goes again.

0:16:51 > 0:16:54They're doing another take cos Joel just can't get it right, can he?

0:16:54 > 0:16:56- Look at him.- That's classic Joel.

0:16:57 > 0:16:58MACHINE WHIRS

0:17:02 > 0:17:05I was kidding, by the way. We love Joel. Joel's fantastic.

0:17:05 > 0:17:09This is Russell. He teaches us how to do all our stunts.

0:17:09 > 0:17:11Ah, you're too strong, man.

0:17:11 > 0:17:13That's hilarious.

0:17:13 > 0:17:15From the last time you threw me into a tree.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17Me and Russell had the same weights programme.

0:17:17 > 0:17:22- As you can tell. - I'm actually Matty's double.

0:17:23 > 0:17:27I'm the only one that has the same sort of physique as Russell.

0:17:29 > 0:17:30You know?

0:17:30 > 0:17:33This here is Mark. He is one of our stuntmen.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35Mark will be fitting me wit this jerk harness here,

0:17:35 > 0:17:41which will throw me back into that tree.

0:17:41 > 0:17:46So that's going to be terrifying, but Mark's a very safe guy

0:17:46 > 0:17:49and he's going to take care of me.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51We're going to be all right, aren't we?

0:17:51 > 0:17:53We are going to look after the tree.

0:17:53 > 0:17:56This stuff is called skydeck.

0:17:56 > 0:17:58It was insulation on space ships first, wasn't it?

0:17:58 > 0:18:01- Has been. Also in the US Military. - There you go.

0:18:01 > 0:18:04It's great for holding eggs, as you can see.

0:18:04 > 0:18:08You can fit one, two... You can fit a lot of eggs in here.

0:18:08 > 0:18:11I'm going to put it on the tree and I'm going to launch back into it.

0:18:11 > 0:18:15It's kind of hard, but, you know, I'm tough, so we'll be all right.

0:18:29 > 0:18:32I do a stunt where I'll be getting sucked up into the tornado

0:18:32 > 0:18:34up in the sky. I have to hold on to that rope.

0:18:34 > 0:18:37I'm going to go upside down, with a woman's harness

0:18:37 > 0:18:39because I'm too small for a man's one.

0:18:42 > 0:18:43RAHART LAUGHS

0:18:46 > 0:18:47Doing his own stunts.

0:19:08 > 0:19:10You're at Millipede.

0:19:10 > 0:19:12I'm Will.

0:19:12 > 0:19:15I'm the founder of the studio and the creative director on this project.

0:19:16 > 0:19:18I'm Jason.

0:19:18 > 0:19:22I guess the technical leader, or lead programmer for Nowhere Boys.

0:19:22 > 0:19:29So we've developed a story that runs completely parallel to the TV series,

0:19:29 > 0:19:34so basically augments the adventure of what's going on.

0:19:34 > 0:19:38It's focused on a boy who's lost in this...

0:19:38 > 0:19:42..in between dimensions, called negative space.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47Pretty much trying to find a way home.

0:19:47 > 0:19:48Along the way,

0:19:48 > 0:19:52he's realised that the boys in the TV series are in the same predicament,

0:19:52 > 0:19:55and they're actually working to help each other.

0:19:55 > 0:19:57So they actually do things that influence each other

0:19:57 > 0:19:59and aid each other's quests.

0:19:59 > 0:20:01Yeah, it's an interesting premise.

0:20:01 > 0:20:05'An episode will play, and that will trigger a game chapter to unlock.

0:20:05 > 0:20:08'So hopefully at the end of the episode,

0:20:08 > 0:20:10'there's a call to action to encourage people to go on

0:20:10 > 0:20:12'and continue the story online.'

0:20:12 > 0:20:15They can go on, the game will be ready to play.

0:20:17 > 0:20:19Yeah, they'll see a lot of familiar things

0:20:19 > 0:20:21that they've just witnessed in the TV series

0:20:21 > 0:20:24actually creep through into the game, then do some tasks.

0:20:24 > 0:20:28They'll see the results actually occur in the next episode

0:20:28 > 0:20:29when that airs.

0:20:30 > 0:20:32What I really want, I think

0:20:32 > 0:20:34what we all really wanted from the start,

0:20:34 > 0:20:39is to create something that was unique to what's out there now,

0:20:39 > 0:20:42and also something that can really get

0:20:42 > 0:20:47the player into the mythology, to the big world of the Nowhere Boys.

0:20:52 > 0:20:54What we wanted to do was take an idea,

0:20:54 > 0:20:57take the concept of magic,

0:20:57 > 0:20:58and make it very real.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01I've got Felix's Book of Shadows.

0:21:04 > 0:21:06It's where he puts all his spells.

0:21:06 > 0:21:08Show him the research that he's done on us.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10So this page is Andy.

0:21:10 > 0:21:15Oh, oh, that's just his personal diary. He just likes us a lot.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18Pretty much Felix has written down elements

0:21:18 > 0:21:23of the of the individual that can relate to the magic somehow.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27I'm water, water. Andy's water because he's a logical thinker.

0:21:27 > 0:21:31I'm earth because I'm grounded and that's sort of thing.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33- Stubborn.- Yeah.

0:21:33 > 0:21:36Sam's air, because he's an airhead, which gets mentioned in the script.

0:21:36 > 0:21:40- He's quite flowing, just kind of flows around life.- Yep.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43I think I'm fire because I'm just angry at life.

0:21:43 > 0:21:45Because you're hot.

0:21:45 > 0:21:47I'm kind of just angry at how my life has turned out.

0:21:47 > 0:21:49Angry at everyone around it.

0:21:49 > 0:21:51Here it's got a zodiac sign.

0:21:52 > 0:21:57- Apparently I'm a Libra.- I'm a Leo.

0:21:57 > 0:22:02So the magic's loosely based on zodiac signs and runes.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04Elements.

0:22:04 > 0:22:05TONY: 'The whole idea of the series was

0:22:05 > 0:22:08'that we were going to slowly build this sense of threat

0:22:08 > 0:22:09'throughout the series.'

0:22:09 > 0:22:13There's this kind of dark magical force which is trying to

0:22:13 > 0:22:16eliminate the boys from the alternate reality that they've entered.

0:22:16 > 0:22:18'At one point, one of the characters says,

0:22:18 > 0:22:23'"Well, maybe magic is just science that you don't understand.'

0:22:23 > 0:22:27"Science that you haven't discovered."

0:22:27 > 0:22:30'I think that was the central idea that we're playing with -

0:22:30 > 0:22:33''that there are all of these really interesting theories

0:22:33 > 0:22:35'about the multiverse, about alternate universes,

0:22:35 > 0:22:38'about the ripple effect, a butterfly effect.

0:22:38 > 0:22:39'We're playing with that'

0:22:39 > 0:22:43and playing with the idea that a magical event can trigger that.

0:22:52 > 0:22:53Run. Run!

0:22:55 > 0:22:59The big thing that we had was a big tornado that chases the boys.

0:23:01 > 0:23:04The tricky thing about that is, again, we've got

0:23:04 > 0:23:08a limited time to do it and we're in the forest...

0:23:09 > 0:23:13..which is not green-screen-able, really,

0:23:13 > 0:23:14in the time.

0:23:16 > 0:23:18That was quite a challenge of how to cover that

0:23:18 > 0:23:22'in such a way that we didn't have to erect green screens.'

0:23:22 > 0:23:25Of course, technology has advanced so much

0:23:25 > 0:23:28that you have options to do that, it's just time consuming.

0:23:28 > 0:23:33'So it was about finding a part of the forest that was open enough

0:23:33 > 0:23:39'to give us space for a tornado, and removing the boys to one side

0:23:39 > 0:23:41'so the tornado gets its part of the frame

0:23:41 > 0:23:44'and the boys get their part of the frame.'

0:23:44 > 0:23:45The tornado gets its own shot.

0:23:47 > 0:23:48Faster. Faster.

0:23:49 > 0:23:51This way.

0:23:51 > 0:23:52TORNADO SCREECHES

0:23:54 > 0:23:56TONY: 'The visual effects' bees are really cool.

0:23:56 > 0:23:57'The crows are great.

0:23:59 > 0:24:01'Then the visual effects helps enhance the dog threat

0:24:01 > 0:24:03'that we're trying to create.

0:24:03 > 0:24:07'So all of that is terribly exciting.'

0:24:07 > 0:24:09Within the boundaries of the world that we're in,

0:24:09 > 0:24:13it gives it another element.

0:24:13 > 0:24:15It really makes the magic come to life.

0:24:18 > 0:24:19CROW CAWS

0:24:24 > 0:24:25CROWS CAW

0:24:34 > 0:24:38Yesterday consisted of very mixed emotions.

0:24:38 > 0:24:41I was excited, like, "No more 3.45 starts!"

0:24:43 > 0:24:49But also I knew I was going to miss everyone like crazy.

0:24:49 > 0:24:51'I don't think it'll hit me till Monday morning when I wake up

0:24:51 > 0:24:53'and I'm like, "I don't have any lines to learn.'

0:24:53 > 0:24:57"I'm not going to work. What am I going to do?"

0:24:57 > 0:24:59I just finished my last scene.

0:24:59 > 0:25:03- It's weird.- Oh, yeah. How did that feel?- I don't know. It's always...

0:25:03 > 0:25:06You have so much fun and forget that it's going to end.

0:25:06 > 0:25:08Then it ends and you're like, "Aw."

0:25:08 > 0:25:11- Kind of bittersweet. Throw your hat in the air, accomplished.- Yeah.

0:25:11 > 0:25:12But it's sad.

0:25:12 > 0:25:14'Everyone's probably really tired.

0:25:14 > 0:25:18'Especially the crew, they work all day, every day. It was relentless.

0:25:18 > 0:25:20'You guys have been studying.

0:25:20 > 0:25:22'When I get time off, I get to go and have a little quiet read

0:25:22 > 0:25:26'and chill out, they're going straight into tutoring.

0:25:26 > 0:25:28'But we've had a ball.'

0:25:28 > 0:25:31- DARCI:- 'I'm really sad and I'll probably cry.

0:25:31 > 0:25:33'I've just had such a blast.'

0:25:33 > 0:25:35Rahart is such a gentleman.

0:25:35 > 0:25:36- Aw.- I'm a gentleman too.

0:25:37 > 0:25:39'What am I going to miss the most?

0:25:40 > 0:25:44'Probably doing what I do, the scenes, and the four boys.

0:25:46 > 0:25:48'Except I'll see them, so I won't miss them.

0:25:48 > 0:25:50'It's like... I explain it as just a really,'

0:25:50 > 0:25:53really awesome school excursion every day.

0:25:53 > 0:25:56- Those ones at school to the zoo or something?- You go, "Whoo!"

0:25:56 > 0:25:58'Yeah, and you just have the best time.

0:25:58 > 0:26:02'It has to end, but it doesn't. Well, it does. Cos it's ending now.

0:26:02 > 0:26:05'Yeah, today's ending is kind of like when your mum comes over

0:26:05 > 0:26:08'to your friends house and is like, "All right, honey, we have to go."'

0:26:08 > 0:26:09- It's like, "Mum, can I just stay?" - Yeah.

0:26:09 > 0:26:11We'll definitely keep in contact.

0:26:11 > 0:26:13We can't not, we've spent so much time together,

0:26:13 > 0:26:16we're all brothers now. It's good.
