0:00:29 > 0:00:33Together, we will be helping kids all over the UK transform their old
0:00:33 > 0:00:34family bangers...
0:00:34 > 0:00:36Look at the state of that.
0:00:36 > 0:00:39You're hit by... not the best of smells.
0:00:39 > 0:00:41..into wow-factor wagons...
0:00:43 > 0:00:46- Love it.- ..by fixing up problems under the bonnet...
0:00:46 > 0:00:49This is the most intense thing in the world.
0:00:49 > 0:00:53- Excellent.- ..funking up the inside with gadgets and gizmos...
0:00:53 > 0:00:54How's that, Mohammed?
0:00:55 > 0:01:00..and giving the outside of the car a spectacular new look.
0:01:00 > 0:01:01It's absolutely awesome.
0:01:01 > 0:01:05And the best part - their parents don't have a clue what it will look
0:01:05 > 0:01:06like until it's too late.
0:01:06 > 0:01:08I'm freaking out a little bit.
0:01:08 > 0:01:09I am not having that.
0:01:09 > 0:01:12- What could go wrong? - Three, two, one...
0:01:12 > 0:01:15Open the door!
0:01:16 > 0:01:19- Oh!- Look at it!
0:01:19 > 0:01:24Hold on tight, this is Superchargers.
0:01:31 > 0:01:36Hello and welcome to the show that puts you in charge of transforming
0:01:36 > 0:01:39your family wagon, both inside and out.
0:01:39 > 0:01:41You might know me as a gamer
0:01:41 > 0:01:43but I'm also car crazy.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45So me and my team, mechanic Rebecca
0:01:45 > 0:01:47and cool car nerd Sideways Sid,
0:01:47 > 0:01:53are on a mission to supercharge family vehicles all across the UK.
0:01:53 > 0:01:55And today we're helping a family in...
0:01:55 > 0:01:59Cheshire, with an old banger they're relying on
0:01:59 > 0:02:00for a very special reason.
0:02:03 > 0:02:07Hi, I'm Joe and I'm ten years old and I love aeroplanes.
0:02:07 > 0:02:14My favourite aeroplane is the Boeing 777X-8.
0:02:14 > 0:02:17This is my...
0:02:17 > 0:02:20- mum.- Hi.- She's bunny crazy.
0:02:20 > 0:02:26- Hi.- This is Dad and he's a bell-ringer at our local church.
0:02:26 > 0:02:30This is my bunny, Hugo, and he loves eating banana.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32I also see my nan a lot.
0:02:32 > 0:02:34- Say hi, Nan.- Hello.
0:02:34 > 0:02:38Another important part of our family is our car, Freddie.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41We've had him since I was two.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43Poor old Freddie's looking really tired.
0:02:43 > 0:02:45He's got loads of bumps
0:02:45 > 0:02:46and scratches.
0:02:46 > 0:02:50This headlight doesn't come on and we have to give it a few whacks
0:02:50 > 0:02:51for it to get going.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54And then this seat here...
0:02:54 > 0:02:59I may have when I was little kicked it through.
0:02:59 > 0:03:02This is my grandpa and he's ill at the moment,
0:03:02 > 0:03:06so we need our car, Freddie, to pay him lots of visits.
0:03:06 > 0:03:08What would happen if Freddie broke down on us?
0:03:08 > 0:03:11We'd be really stuck, wouldn't we? I wouldn't be to get work, you
0:03:11 > 0:03:14wouldn't be able to get to school, it'd be an absolute nightmare.
0:03:14 > 0:03:16What would be the worst thing I could do to Freddie?
0:03:16 > 0:03:20Anything really loud, go-faster stripes, big spoilers.
0:03:20 > 0:03:25Ali-A, please help me to supercharge our Freddie so we can keep him on
0:03:25 > 0:03:26the road for years to come.
0:03:26 > 0:03:31I've got loads of great ideas for how we can make him look fantastic.
0:03:31 > 0:03:32But Mum and Dad don't have a clue
0:03:32 > 0:03:33what I'm thinking about.
0:03:40 > 0:03:43So, guys, welcome to Superchargers.
0:03:43 > 0:03:46Now, Mum and Dad, this is going to be a big makeover
0:03:46 > 0:03:48and you've given all the power to Joe.
0:03:48 > 0:03:51- Are you scared?- Nervous.- Yeah. And excited at the same time.
0:03:51 > 0:03:54Fair enough. Let me just grab, I've got my vlogging camera here,
0:03:54 > 0:03:57and we are going to do a little bit of a car tour.
0:03:57 > 0:04:00OK, Joe. What is there on this car that you'd like to get changed here
0:04:00 > 0:04:01- at Superchargers?- Well,
0:04:01 > 0:04:05the CD player always jumps when you're going over a bump.
0:04:05 > 0:04:08That's not good at all. What have we got going on here?
0:04:09 > 0:04:13Mum and my grandma have had a few altercations when this has come down
0:04:13 > 0:04:15- on their head. - Ooh! So this is a bit of a hazard.
0:04:15 > 0:04:17Yeah.
0:04:17 > 0:04:19So, Joe, you've pointed out many things we can work on on this car
0:04:19 > 0:04:22already, but obviously we're going to make sure it's road-safe and in
0:04:22 > 0:04:25working condition. I'm going to put the vlogging camera down for
0:04:25 > 0:04:28a second and, Joe, we've got this awesome Superchargers app here.
0:04:28 > 0:04:30You and I are going to do a little bit of design brainstorming.
0:04:32 > 0:04:34What do you reckon to that?
0:04:34 > 0:04:36Oh, yes! No, not feeling it?
0:04:36 > 0:04:39The jellybean one I thought was just silly.
0:04:39 > 0:04:41Just got absolutely no idea what
0:04:41 > 0:04:43they were looking at, some of his faces were quite shocked
0:04:43 > 0:04:47and surprised, so I'm just kind of wondering what was on there.
0:04:47 > 0:04:49What do you reckon Mum would think about that one?
0:04:49 > 0:04:52I think Mum would absolutely love it, Dad would absolutely hate it.
0:04:52 > 0:04:53OK, interesting!
0:04:53 > 0:04:59The worst thing Joe could do to the car is turn him pink and fluffy.
0:04:59 > 0:05:02What are we feeling about this little design here?
0:05:02 > 0:05:03I like that a lot.
0:05:03 > 0:05:05You like this one a lot, OK.
0:05:05 > 0:05:08Worst he could do, anything really garish, my worst nightmare.
0:05:08 > 0:05:11My favourite one was definitely the aeroplane one, without a doubt.
0:05:11 > 0:05:13Imagine we're in a plane, OK,
0:05:13 > 0:05:16you know you've got the strip LEDs on either side on the walkway.
0:05:16 > 0:05:18- Yeah.- I was thinking maybe we can incorporate that into the car.
0:05:18 > 0:05:20Yeah, that'd be a brilliant idea.
0:05:20 > 0:05:21And if we use your mood lighting,
0:05:21 > 0:05:24- it can change colours at the same time.- Yeah.
0:05:25 > 0:05:28Well, you guys have actually got the keys. Come on, hand them over.
0:05:28 > 0:05:30OK, bam, Freddie is in our hands, Joe.
0:05:30 > 0:05:34Time for Mum and Dad to say goodbye to Freddie as they know him.
0:05:34 > 0:05:37Feel a little bit nervous, actually, about, you know, what's in store
0:05:37 > 0:05:39for the car, what Joe's got planned.
0:05:39 > 0:05:42From now on, his new look is totally under wraps.
0:05:48 > 0:05:50I brought in my mate Sideways Sid...
0:05:50 > 0:05:54- Hello, folks.- ..a car vlogger and encyclopaedia of motors
0:05:54 > 0:05:57to help Joe bring his aeroplane-themed car to life.
0:05:57 > 0:06:00- Look, there's an aeroplane taking off.- I know. I know.
0:06:00 > 0:06:04He's only gone and got him an access all areas pass to an
0:06:04 > 0:06:07airport! Nice one, Sid.
0:06:09 > 0:06:12Only I think Joe knows more about this place than he does.
0:06:12 > 0:06:16So, Joe, how does it feel being on the actual runway?
0:06:16 > 0:06:17We're not actually on the runway yet, are we?
0:06:17 > 0:06:19- Oh, is it not yet?- No, not yet.
0:06:19 > 0:06:21My apologies.
0:06:21 > 0:06:23So, Joe, how does it feel being on the runway now?
0:06:23 > 0:06:24Absolutely incredible.
0:06:28 > 0:06:31So there's something coming in to land, do you reckon you can spot it?
0:06:31 > 0:06:34- It's definitely a 737.- OK.
0:06:35 > 0:06:36- Woohoo!- Wow!
0:06:39 > 0:06:43The one main thing that I've got a lot more certain about having today
0:06:43 > 0:06:45is having a logo.
0:06:45 > 0:06:46Was that cool or what?
0:06:46 > 0:06:47Yeah.
0:06:58 > 0:07:02I've arranged for Joe to see inside a plane to look for some features he
0:07:02 > 0:07:04could transfer into Freddie.
0:07:04 > 0:07:07I do like the look of the seats in here, I really do.
0:07:09 > 0:07:12Gives you a lot more legroom. Is this something you'd like to have in
0:07:12 > 0:07:14- Freddie?- Yeah, definitely.
0:07:14 > 0:07:18Also, I've noticed that this has a little net.
0:07:18 > 0:07:20I think it'd be a very good idea
0:07:20 > 0:07:22because it would help a lot with storage.
0:07:24 > 0:07:26And because we have VIP access,
0:07:26 > 0:07:30as a final treat, Joe's getting a tour of the cockpit.
0:07:30 > 0:07:32There's the flaps, Joe, for landing and take-off.
0:07:32 > 0:07:35Throttles, there's your two fuels levers there, for number one
0:07:35 > 0:07:38- and number two engine.- So I've got a question for you, Paul.
0:07:38 > 0:07:42If you had the chance to actually make an aeroplane-themed car,
0:07:42 > 0:07:45- what would it look like?- You'd have to have like aircraft seats,
0:07:45 > 0:07:49controls resembling aircraft controls.
0:07:49 > 0:07:50Yeah!
0:07:54 > 0:07:56Joe's been bombarded with great ideas,
0:07:56 > 0:07:58but how many can he cram into Freddie
0:07:58 > 0:08:01and is he brave enough to take them all the way?
0:08:01 > 0:08:04At the moment, I'm freaking out a little bit about...
0:08:04 > 0:08:06unveiling it to my parents.
0:08:10 > 0:08:14At home, Joe's mum and dad are still in the dark about the bold theme he
0:08:14 > 0:08:16is planning for their car, Freddie.
0:08:16 > 0:08:19Joe is now in charge of doing the car up.
0:08:20 > 0:08:23What he's going to do it, we've no idea.
0:08:23 > 0:08:24Hello, Hugo.
0:08:24 > 0:08:26Really starting to miss Freddie.
0:08:26 > 0:08:29Just feels really strange not to see him out there on the driveway where
0:08:29 > 0:08:31he usually is.
0:08:31 > 0:08:34I can't wait to see what Mum thinks.
0:08:34 > 0:08:36Wait, what if she doesn't like it?
0:08:37 > 0:08:39Actually...I'm quite nervous.
0:08:48 > 0:08:51Before Joe gets started on the secret transformation,
0:08:51 > 0:08:54he needs to make family car Freddie safe to drive again.
0:08:54 > 0:08:57Time to head down to the Superchargers workshop.
0:09:04 > 0:09:07I've brought in my mechanic, Rebecca,
0:09:07 > 0:09:09a car-mad racing driver
0:09:09 > 0:09:12who loves to get her hands dirty fixing up motors.
0:09:14 > 0:09:17Mechanics are a little bit like doctors for cars.
0:09:17 > 0:09:21We have to thoroughly examine them to identify any problems that need
0:09:21 > 0:09:22fixing. Are you up for that?
0:09:22 > 0:09:24Yeah.
0:09:27 > 0:09:30There's a few things I found wrong with Freddie today
0:09:30 > 0:09:33and the first one we're going to fix is his boot, because it won't stay
0:09:33 > 0:09:36open, and this is something you know all too well.
0:09:36 > 0:09:41Whoa! Freddie's struts are worn out from being used over and over again,
0:09:41 > 0:09:45so that's what we're going to replace today.
0:09:45 > 0:09:49A car boot has two struts that are filled with a pressurised gas called
0:09:49 > 0:09:54nitrogen. Lifting the boot forces the gas into the struts, which stops
0:09:54 > 0:09:58it from falling down and bonking you on the head -
0:09:58 > 0:10:00ouch - again.
0:10:01 > 0:10:05To do the job, we've got two brand-new struts and a screwdriver.
0:10:05 > 0:10:07That's all we need.
0:10:07 > 0:10:11We need to remove this strut with the screwdriver.
0:10:11 > 0:10:13Some things that go wrong on a car can be fixed easily,
0:10:13 > 0:10:15but never try it on your own.
0:10:15 > 0:10:17Rebecca is an expert.
0:10:18 > 0:10:20- Yes.- There we go.- OK.
0:10:20 > 0:10:23Here's the new one. Now, which way up does it go?
0:10:23 > 0:10:25- This way.- Yeah.
0:10:25 > 0:10:29Helping Rebecca fix the boot was really good fun.
0:10:29 > 0:10:31- SHE LAUGHS - Get your muscle in it!
0:10:32 > 0:10:34You can do it. Yeah!
0:10:34 > 0:10:38Now I know how a boot works, I feel quite happy because I can help
0:10:38 > 0:10:41Grandpa if anything breaks again.
0:10:41 > 0:10:42Put it there.
0:10:45 > 0:10:47That's not the end of Freddie's problems, though.
0:10:47 > 0:10:51Check out these wonky windscreen washers, they're missing by miles.
0:10:51 > 0:10:53- SHE LAUGHS - Look at that,
0:10:53 > 0:10:55they're all over the place!
0:10:55 > 0:10:58And if you can't wash that screen, you can't see where you're going,
0:10:58 > 0:11:00so that's dangerous.
0:11:00 > 0:11:04Luckily, it's a very easy fix and all we need is one of these.
0:11:06 > 0:11:09Who knew that using a simple safety pin to move the jets would do the
0:11:09 > 0:11:11- trick?- This way or that way?
0:11:11 > 0:11:13A little bit towards me.
0:11:13 > 0:11:15Clever!
0:11:15 > 0:11:17Let's see what they're like.
0:11:17 > 0:11:19Yeah, that's much better.
0:11:19 > 0:11:22The easiest thing about today
0:11:22 > 0:11:27was making the jet point in the right direction.
0:11:38 > 0:11:40I'm really looking forward to the next stage
0:11:40 > 0:11:42of the supercharging process.
0:11:42 > 0:11:44Mum, Grandma,
0:11:44 > 0:11:50Grandpa and Dad have been mithering about answers for Freddie's design,
0:11:50 > 0:11:52but I'm not telling them anything!
0:11:58 > 0:12:01So, Freddie is now completely roadworthy
0:12:01 > 0:12:05and it's time for Joe to finalise his car's new look and work out the
0:12:05 > 0:12:08exact details he wants on the inside.
0:12:08 > 0:12:10I can't wait to see what his parents say
0:12:10 > 0:12:12when he unveils the finished car.
0:12:12 > 0:12:14Here's a sneak peek at what's coming up.
0:12:16 > 0:12:18Sid blows Joe's mind.
0:12:18 > 0:12:22- What do you think?- That is amazing.
0:12:22 > 0:12:26And how will Mum and Dad react when he reveals his design?
0:12:26 > 0:12:28Open the door!
0:12:28 > 0:12:30Oh... Love it!
0:12:30 > 0:12:32And if you're loving Ali-A Superchargers,
0:12:32 > 0:12:35why not head over to the CBBC website and get involved
0:12:35 > 0:12:37with some of this...
0:12:37 > 0:12:38- Ooh.- Woo!
0:12:38 > 0:12:41Bam! ..pit your wits against this
0:12:41 > 0:12:45and try to beat Rebecca and Sid to the answer in our musical quiz
0:12:45 > 0:12:47Honk A Song? Let's get playing.
0:12:47 > 0:12:51BEEP HONKS TUNE
0:12:51 > 0:12:54- Oh...- Erm...yes.
0:12:54 > 0:12:56Sid thinks... It's right there.
0:12:56 > 0:12:58Oh! Oh, it's...
0:12:58 > 0:13:00It's... Yeah, I'm only human...
0:13:00 > 0:13:02- Rag'n'Bone Man.- Yes.
0:13:02 > 0:13:04# I'm only human... #
0:13:04 > 0:13:06- I got it.- That's the thing, are you going to give it to Rebecca?
0:13:06 > 0:13:10- Yeah, I'll give it to Rebecca.- OK, Rebecca gets the point there.- Woo!
0:13:10 > 0:13:13And there is more hilarious song-honking action over
0:13:13 > 0:13:16on the CBBC website so go and check it out!
0:13:19 > 0:13:23With only a matter of hours until his makeover meeting with Sid,
0:13:23 > 0:13:25Joe's getting his final ideas together for Freddie.
0:13:27 > 0:13:29Since my trip to the airport with Sid,
0:13:29 > 0:13:34I've been looking more and more at aeroplane designs, especially logos.
0:13:35 > 0:13:39How could I get these amazing designs into my car?
0:13:40 > 0:13:44That's something Sid's going to have to help me with next time I see him.
0:13:44 > 0:13:45I hope he knows how.
0:13:53 > 0:13:56The idea of an aeroplane-themed car is something very unique,
0:13:56 > 0:13:58so I've sent Joe to my design team
0:13:58 > 0:14:00to come up with something outstanding.
0:14:00 > 0:14:02What do we think to this sort of thing?
0:14:02 > 0:14:03Yeah, that looks really good.
0:14:03 > 0:14:06Yeah, yeah. And what about some, like, rivets?
0:14:06 > 0:14:09Oh, yeah, that would look really like an aeroplane, yeah.
0:14:09 > 0:14:12So you want Freddie Airways written on the aeroplane in the logo,
0:14:12 > 0:14:14- is that correct?- Yeah.- Yeah.
0:14:14 > 0:14:16That's looking amazing.
0:14:16 > 0:14:17OK, well, let's get it printed.
0:14:18 > 0:14:22Mum said she didn't want anything too outrageous for Freddie's design.
0:14:22 > 0:14:24Joe, you're a brave boy!
0:14:24 > 0:14:28The longer he's away, the more I start thinking about what Joe's got
0:14:28 > 0:14:31in store for him. Wondering what he's going to come up with.
0:14:32 > 0:14:34What do you think of the design?
0:14:34 > 0:14:37- I really like it.- Is it everything that you expected it to be?
0:14:37 > 0:14:41- And more.- Inside, Joe's imagination's gone into overdrive,
0:14:41 > 0:14:45with Freddie's new seats inspired by his airport trip
0:14:45 > 0:14:48and a logo he's been thinking so hard about.
0:14:48 > 0:14:52So, Joe, why have you gone for black leather seats at the front
0:14:52 > 0:14:54and red leather seats at the back?
0:14:54 > 0:14:57At the back I want it to be like in the passenger cabin
0:14:57 > 0:15:01and then at the front I want it to be like in the flight deck.
0:15:01 > 0:15:04- It's a lot more comfy than the aeroplane seats.- Definitely.
0:15:04 > 0:15:06I've even got more legroom as well, too!
0:15:06 > 0:15:09It's all we talk about, what Freddie's going to look like,
0:15:09 > 0:15:12and as the time gets closer, just getting more and more nervous,
0:15:12 > 0:15:15wondering what we're going to be faced with.
0:15:15 > 0:15:18Joe wanted to go with my idea of in-flight footwell lighting
0:15:18 > 0:15:21so we've taken it to the next level.
0:15:21 > 0:15:23- Whoa!- You've got a mood lighting system,
0:15:23 > 0:15:25you've got this little remote here,
0:15:25 > 0:15:27and you can pre-set any colour you'd like.
0:15:27 > 0:15:31And you can even have disco-themed lights, too. What do you think?
0:15:34 > 0:15:36That is amazing.
0:15:36 > 0:15:41- Yeah?- My favourite part now has got to be the mood lighting.
0:15:41 > 0:15:44It is incredible.
0:15:44 > 0:15:46And your in-flight features keep on coming.
0:15:46 > 0:15:48Check out those seat belt covers!
0:15:50 > 0:15:53And who's that handsome chap on the passenger safety card?
0:15:54 > 0:15:56Awesome. He's ready to fly.
0:15:57 > 0:15:59He looks amazing.
0:15:59 > 0:16:01But I'm not sure Mum will like it.
0:16:01 > 0:16:04- Any regrets?- No, not one.
0:16:04 > 0:16:06I wanted to go full-out on the aeroplane theme
0:16:06 > 0:16:08and that's exactly what I've done.
0:16:08 > 0:16:12Joe had this idea and he stuck by it, so, respect to him.
0:16:12 > 0:16:16Dad, I'm not so worried, but Mum, I am really freaking out
0:16:16 > 0:16:18if she's going to like it or not.
0:16:25 > 0:16:28Welcome back, everyone, to the Superchargers headquarters,
0:16:28 > 0:16:31where today we're going to be taking a look at a supercharged
0:16:31 > 0:16:34Freddiemobile. But first of all, Joe, I've got a certificate for you.
0:16:34 > 0:16:35This is the Superchargers MOT,
0:16:35 > 0:16:37so it's safe to drive, which is great news.
0:16:37 > 0:16:39But let's remind ourselves, Joe,
0:16:39 > 0:16:42what did Freddie look like originally when you brought him into
0:16:42 > 0:16:43the Superchargers headquarters?
0:16:43 > 0:16:48He was dark blue and there was a load of scratches on him.
0:16:48 > 0:16:51How do you think Mum and Dad are going to react to your supercharged
0:16:51 > 0:16:55- Freddie?- I have absolutely no idea whatsoever.
0:16:55 > 0:16:57Mum and Dad, what about you guys? Are you unsure as well?

0:17:13 > 0:17:15- Don't believe it.- Oh!
0:17:15 > 0:17:17- Doesn't look like Freddie. - Joe's car, Freddie,
0:17:17 > 0:17:21has been turned from tired old motor to a first-class stunner,
0:17:21 > 0:17:24who would look more at home on a runway than a road.
0:17:24 > 0:17:26I've spotted an aeroplane on the bonnet.
0:17:26 > 0:17:29Nice! What about you, Dad, what are you thinking at the moment?

0:17:41 > 0:17:43He's looks amazing, just looks nothing like Freddie at all.
0:17:43 > 0:17:45- Yeah.- Nice, Joe's loving that.
0:17:45 > 0:17:48Dad, what do you reckon? You were a little bit speechless outside.
0:17:48 > 0:17:51It's now definitely a Joemobile.
0:17:51 > 0:17:54Up front, there's plenty for Freddie's pilot to enjoy,
0:17:54 > 0:17:58including a new entertainment system to replace that dodgy CD player
0:17:58 > 0:18:00and Joe's favourite feature.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15features including a fantastic folding tray table.
0:18:15 > 0:18:18That should stop him kicking the back of his brand-new seats.
