0:01:28 > 0:01:31I'm working on a display about an enormous sea creature.

0:01:31 > 0:01:35I've got a few more things to put in place then I'm finished.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43- Hi, Andy.- Hi, Jen.

0:01:43 > 0:01:47- I think I've worked out what this new display is.- Go on.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49It's the tail fluke of a whale.

0:01:49 > 0:01:50Yes, how did you know?

0:01:50 > 0:01:54Easy, I calculated the dimensions

0:01:54 > 0:01:58then cross referenced the results with the museum's online index.

0:01:58 > 0:02:03- Right. And that means...?- I looked it up on the internet.- Oh. Ha-ha!

0:02:03 > 0:02:06But, Andy, why a whale display in the prehistoric gallery?

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Aren't whales are still around today?

0:02:09 > 0:02:12Yes, but this is the tail of a prehistoric whale

0:02:12 > 0:02:13called a Basilosaurus.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17Oh, I see. So, why have you got these bumps on it?

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Well, these bumps are called barnacle shells -

0:02:20 > 0:02:24tiny marine creatures that live on the skin of whales.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27- Mrs Pickles gave me these. - Oh, fascinating.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Maybe not like that though.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42They communicate by singing.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Their songs are one of the loudest in the animal kingdom.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48- Would you like to hear one? - Yes, please.

0:03:03 > 0:03:08Too loud. Ah, look, it's shaken off the barnacle shells.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Be careful. We don't want to break them.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14These are the only ones we have. We can just stick them back on.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17- I need stronger glue though. - Don't worry.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19There's some glue in the store cupboard.
