0:00:26 > 0:00:29Hello, and welcome to my Secret Hideout.
0:00:29 > 0:00:32I don't know what's going on today, but there are
0:00:32 > 0:00:35loads of spiders in my hideout, like this spider.
0:00:35 > 0:00:36His name's Goldie.
0:00:36 > 0:00:38He's a golden orb.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40He's a beauty, isn't he?
0:00:40 > 0:00:44Some people get the heebie-jeebies when it come to spiders,
0:00:44 > 0:00:49mainly because of their spooky webs, and hairy legs, and their many eyes.
0:00:49 > 0:00:51But I love spiders!
0:00:51 > 0:00:53Spiders are often very small,
0:00:53 > 0:00:56but they have to catch prey that are a lot larger than they are,
0:00:56 > 0:00:59and get away from animals trying to eat them up,
0:00:59 > 0:01:02so they need lots of tricks up those eight sleeves.
0:01:02 > 0:01:04Some have big fangs,
0:01:04 > 0:01:07some have really sticky webs,
0:01:07 > 0:01:11and some kick spiky hairs off their body to keep animals away.
0:01:11 > 0:01:16There's another spider that definitely belongs in my hideout,
0:01:16 > 0:01:19because it loves to hide, especially in tunnels.
0:01:19 > 0:01:23It'll stay in the tunnel and then it'll jump out in a surprise attack.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25The question is,
0:01:25 > 0:01:27are you brave enough to meet it?
0:01:27 > 0:01:32Trap-door spiders hide in little tunnels, behind trap doors,
0:01:32 > 0:01:35and if they feel anything small walking past,
0:01:35 > 0:01:36like a beetle,
0:01:36 > 0:01:38they jump out to grab it.
0:01:38 > 0:01:43And did you know that there's a spider that's just like a cowboy?
0:01:43 > 0:01:44Yee-haw!
0:01:44 > 0:01:47I'm a cowboy spider! Yee-haw!
0:01:49 > 0:01:51It's called a bolas spider,
0:01:51 > 0:01:54and while it stays pretty hidden during the day,
0:01:54 > 0:01:59at night it dangles a long line of sticky web and swings it around
0:01:59 > 0:02:02to lasso and catch passing moths.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05Isn't that amazing?
0:02:05 > 0:02:08Now we're going to do something really cool. Ready?
0:02:08 > 0:02:12This is one of my all-time favourite spiders.
