0:00:29 > 0:00:31Hello! Welcome to my secret hideout.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34I'm just looking for a matching pair of socks,

0:00:34 > 0:00:37for my adventure tomorrow. All I can find are odd socks.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40It would be really handy if I could change the colour

0:00:40 > 0:00:43of one of them. Now, I know it sounds like magic,

0:00:43 > 0:00:47but there are lots of animals that can change colour. No, really.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51Some animals are so good at changing colour that they can use it

0:00:51 > 0:00:55for camouflage, so we could have an animal right here in the hideout,

0:00:55 > 0:01:00trying to camouflage itself, and we'd never know. Hey, look!

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Do you know what this is? It's a Yemen chameleon.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06These guys are masters at changing colour.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09They don't just try and camouflage themselves,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12they change colour to communicate with each other.

0:01:12 > 0:01:18And chameleons aren't the only ones. Let's take a look in my bucket.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25This strange animal is called a cuttlefish.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28They can change colour AND they can make funny patterns.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31They do this to warn other cuttlefish away,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33or even find a mate.

0:01:34 > 0:01:39"Hey, get out of here, man! No, not you. You can stay, man."

0:01:43 > 0:01:47Another master of the underwater world is the mimic octopus.

0:01:47 > 0:01:51Not only can it change colour, but it can also change shape.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53Come on, let's take a look.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58Here it is, pretending to be a flatfish swimming across the sand.

0:01:58 > 0:02:02"I can't be an octopus, I'm all flat. See?"

0:02:03 > 0:02:07And now it's pretending to look like a sea snake.

0:02:07 > 0:02:13"Nothing to see here, I'm just a sea snake, going about its business.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17"Definitely not an octopus. I'm a sea snake. You see? Snake."

0:02:20 > 0:02:23That's better! Now, where was I?
