0:00:34 > 0:00:38Hello, I'm Andy and I work here at Pickles' Animal Park.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40It's my job to look after all the animals,

0:00:40 > 0:00:43even these leaf-cutter ants.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46Have a look at the size of the leaves that they're carrying!

0:00:46 > 0:00:51They're even bigger than the ants themselves! Isn't that right, Laura?

0:00:51 > 0:00:56# I'm so strong, can't you see? I like leaves and leaves like me. #

0:00:56 > 0:00:59But they're not the only animals that can carry heavy loads

0:00:59 > 0:01:00on their backs.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03The next animal I'm going to visit is also a weight-lifter.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Come on, I'll show you.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11Now, you've probably seen snails in your garden, or out and about.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15But have you ever seen a snail this big?

0:01:15 > 0:01:19It's a giant African land snail and his name is Sylvester

0:01:19 > 0:01:22Just like normal snails, he eats plants and leaves,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24don't you, Sylvester?

0:01:24 > 0:01:29Well to be honest, Andy, I'll eat anything!

0:01:29 > 0:01:31This shell is Sylvester's house

0:01:31 > 0:01:34and he has to carry it around with him all day long,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36so he needs plenty of food to give him energy.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39# Food glorious food! #

0:01:39 > 0:01:41I'm tired now.

0:01:41 > 0:01:42Imagine that!

0:01:42 > 0:01:44Carrying your house on your back.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46That's why he eats plenty of leaves to give him energy.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50Come on, Sylvester, let's go and get some more leaves for you.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53- RADIO:- 'Come in, Andy. Over.'

0:01:53 > 0:01:58Oh, that'll be the boss. Hello, Mr Pickles. Andy here.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Receiving loud and clear. Over.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03'Andy, I just passed the warthogs

0:02:03 > 0:02:06'and noticed they've run of water for their mud baths.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08'Do you think you could get some? Over.'

0:02:08 > 0:02:12No problem, Sir. I'll go on my tea break and I'll bring them over.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14Over.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18'Oh, good man! Pickles out!'

0:02:27 > 0:02:31- Hi, Kip.- Hi, Andy.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34What's that you've got here? Another brilliant invention?

0:02:34 > 0:02:38This is my clever cat climbing rope.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40I just throw it over a branch and hey presto!

0:02:40 > 0:02:44I can climb up any tree in the garden with getting my claws dirty!

0:02:44 > 0:02:47A very useful invention indeed, Kip.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49I still have to test it.

0:02:49 > 0:02:50Anyway, what have you been up to?

0:02:50 > 0:02:53Well, I've been feeding the giant African land snail.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57Does it have to carry its house on its back like other snails.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59Of course, Kip, all snails do that.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01Oh, I'm glad I'm not a snail, then.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04I wouldn't like to be carrying something on my back all the time.

0:03:04 > 0:03:08Well, snails aren't the only animals to carry things on their backs.

0:03:08 > 0:03:13Some animals carry their babies on their back. Like monkeys, or frogs.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16In fact, there's even one type brightly-coloured frog

0:03:16 > 0:03:19that lives in Central America in the rainforest,

0:03:19 > 0:03:23and even though it's the size of my fingernail,

0:03:23 > 0:03:27it carries its young high up into the trees to look for a safe pond.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29Ponds in the trees?

0:03:29 > 0:03:32I don't think I've ever heard of one of those before.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35Well, you know what this sounds like, don't you, Kip?

0:03:35 > 0:03:37BOTH: Time to go on a wild adventure!

0:03:37 > 0:03:40We'll see frogs take their tadpoles high up into the trees!

0:03:40 > 0:03:43And we can test my clever cat climbing rope!

0:03:43 > 0:03:46Come on, let's go!

0:03:47 > 0:03:51- One - Gadgetpack!- Check.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55- Two - gizmo!- Check.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57Three - my clever cat climbing rope!

0:03:57 > 0:03:58Check.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01Just in case we need it.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03And last but not least -

0:04:03 > 0:04:05The Kipmobile!

0:04:05 > 0:04:07Seatbelts on.

0:04:08 > 0:04:10Hit it, Kip!

0:04:44 > 0:04:46Lift off!

0:04:51 > 0:04:53Ha-ha!

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Woo-hoo-hoo! We're in space!

0:04:56 > 0:04:58So, where to, Andy?

0:04:58 > 0:05:00A place called Costa Rica, Kip.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03Right in the middle of Central America.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06That's where our fantastic climbing frogs live.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08Then Costa Rica, it is!

0:05:08 > 0:05:10Go Cat-Nav, go!

0:05:10 > 0:05:14Costa Rica, here we com-m-m-e!

0:05:19 > 0:05:23Wow! It sure is green down there.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26That's because it's a rainforest Kip.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28And they get so much rain that they're full of plants,

0:05:28 > 0:05:30and lots and lots of animals too.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35Just like those parrots down there!

0:05:35 > 0:05:38Oh, wow! What amazing colours!

0:05:38 > 0:05:41If you think they're amazing, you wait until we see the frogs.

0:05:41 > 0:05:44They're even brighter!

0:05:48 > 0:05:51Perfect landing, Kip.

0:05:51 > 0:05:52Thanks.

0:05:52 > 0:05:57- CHIRRUPING - Hey, did you hear that?

0:05:57 > 0:06:00- What?- That chirruping sound?

0:06:00 > 0:06:02Oh, yes. What is it?

0:06:02 > 0:06:06That, my friend, is the very big sound of the very little frog

0:06:06 > 0:06:10- that we've come so far to see. - Hooray!

0:06:10 > 0:06:13The wonderfully-named Strawberry Poison Dart Frog.

0:06:13 > 0:06:17Oh, did you just say poison?

0:06:17 > 0:06:20Yeah. To stop other animals from eating them,

0:06:20 > 0:06:23they're covered in this really poisonous slime.

0:06:23 > 0:06:25You know what?

0:06:25 > 0:06:30I think I might just stay here with the Kipmobile for a while.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33Just to make sure that... that... the frogs don't get in it!

0:06:33 > 0:06:36We don't want to accidentally take any poisonous frogs

0:06:36 > 0:06:39back to Pickles' Animal Park, do we?

0:06:39 > 0:06:42No, that's true. We certainly don't want to do that.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44No. So I'd better stay here and keep a look.

0:06:44 > 0:06:46Well, if you're sure.

0:06:59 > 0:07:05Oh, look! I've found it! A strawberry poison dart frog!

0:07:05 > 0:07:09Just what we've travelled all this way to come and see.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11Look. Do you see what I mean about the colours?

0:07:11 > 0:07:13They're really, really bright, aren't they?

0:07:13 > 0:07:16That tells the other animals

0:07:16 > 0:07:20in the forest that they're poisonous and not good for eating.

0:07:20 > 0:07:22Ooo! He's off! I'm going to follow him.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30Hey, Andy how's it going? Are you all right?

0:07:30 > 0:07:32Aww. Everything's great, Kip.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35I've followed a frog all the way back to its tiny eggs

0:07:35 > 0:07:38that it's laid here on this wet leaf.

0:07:38 > 0:07:40Look.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42Wow, they're so tiny, aren't they?

0:07:42 > 0:07:44Yes, they really are.

0:07:44 > 0:07:48Some of the eggs have already turned into tadpoles.

0:07:48 > 0:07:52The only problem is that tadpoles need to live in water

0:07:52 > 0:07:56and this hot sun is drying this pool of water on this leaf here.

0:07:56 > 0:07:58So what does the mum do?

0:07:58 > 0:08:00She gives the little one a piggy back!

0:08:02 > 0:08:06All the way up to the swimming pool in the sky!

0:08:14 > 0:08:17But to see it the way a frog sees it, I need to be much smaller.

0:08:17 > 0:08:19So...

0:08:19 > 0:08:23Size of a strawberry poison dart frog!

0:08:32 > 0:08:35Now, that frog may be a heroic hopper

0:08:35 > 0:08:39but I've got my own way of climbing up the tree.

0:08:41 > 0:08:45Kip's clever-cat climbing rope! This should work!

0:08:45 > 0:08:47OK, here goes.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50Yee-hah!

0:08:53 > 0:08:54Yes! That's much better!

0:08:54 > 0:08:57Now I can follow the frog as it climbs up the tree!

0:09:01 > 0:09:02Oop, he's off again.

0:09:04 > 0:09:05Wait for me!

0:09:09 > 0:09:11Hang on a minute.

0:09:11 > 0:09:15What the mum's trying to do is to get to one of these plants

0:09:15 > 0:09:18which grow high up in the branches of these trees.

0:09:18 > 0:09:21And the reason she likes them so much

0:09:21 > 0:09:24is because when they fill up with rain water...

0:09:27 > 0:09:32..they make perfect little ponds to leave her tiddly tiny tadpole in.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36Almost there.

0:09:41 > 0:09:46Whoo! Now that's one tadpole that's safe and sound.

0:09:46 > 0:09:49Ah, I'd love to get in there with it!

0:09:49 > 0:09:51Well, actually...why not?.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53Time for a dip!

0:09:57 > 0:10:02I need to be much smaller, so... size of a tadpole!

0:10:15 > 0:10:20Oh, Mum's off, here's my chance for a swim.

0:10:20 > 0:10:22OK, tadpole!

0:10:25 > 0:10:27Here I come! Whee!

0:10:43 > 0:10:49Wow! That was incredible! I actually got to swim with a tadpole.

0:10:49 > 0:10:52Now, as you can see, tadpoles don't have arms and legs,

0:10:52 > 0:10:55but they do have a tail to help them swim.

0:10:57 > 0:11:01Now, all this little guy needs is some food and luckily,

0:11:01 > 0:11:04his mum has prepared something earlier.

0:11:06 > 0:11:10It's another egg, but this one is very special.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12It's not made to turn into a tadpole.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15It's actually made to use as food for this little fella.

0:11:15 > 0:11:19Aww, there we go! Looks like he was hungry.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25This has been an incredible adventure!

0:11:25 > 0:11:27We got to see exactly what we wanted to see.

0:11:27 > 0:11:30A frog take its tadpole on its back,

0:11:30 > 0:11:34all the way to this safe pond high up in the trees.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37It's been brilliant. Now it's time to get back down!

0:11:39 > 0:11:42Oh, hang on a minute.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44How do I get of here?

0:11:44 > 0:11:48Oh, no! I haven't got sticky fingers like frogs.

0:11:48 > 0:11:52I'm going to need some help. Kip!

0:11:53 > 0:11:55Andy?

0:11:55 > 0:11:57Andy?!

0:11:57 > 0:12:01Kip?! Kip, are you there? I'm going to need some help.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04- Kip?!- 'Here I am, Andy.'

0:12:04 > 0:12:07Ah, nice one, Kip! I can always count on you!

0:12:07 > 0:12:10Andy upload!

0:12:10 > 0:12:13See you later, froggies!

0:12:15 > 0:12:18Andy? Andy?

0:12:18 > 0:12:20- Kip?!- Andy?

0:12:20 > 0:12:22Here I am, Kip!

0:12:22 > 0:12:28There you are! Oh, you made me jump!

0:12:28 > 0:12:31What, like a Strawberry Poison Dart Frog?

0:12:33 > 0:12:36Hey! I'm still the size of a tadpole!

0:12:36 > 0:12:39Don't worry, we'll sort you on the way home.

0:12:39 > 0:12:41Aw, thanks Kip!

0:13:08 > 0:13:11- RADIO:- 'Andy, are you receiving? Over.'

0:13:11 > 0:13:13Uh-oh. It's Mr Pickles, the boss.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16'Andy, can you hear me?'

0:13:16 > 0:13:20Hello, Mr Pickles. Andy here. Over.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22'Where have you been, Andy?

0:13:22 > 0:13:25'I've been trying to get hold of you. Over.'

0:13:25 > 0:13:28Erm... Well, Mr Pickles, I've just been... um...

0:13:28 > 0:13:30I was just, um...

0:13:30 > 0:13:35- I've just been collecting some water for the warthogs.- Over

0:13:35 > 0:13:39'Oh, well done, I knew I could rely on you, Andy.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41'Pickles out!'

0:13:41 > 0:13:42Ha-ha. That was lucky!

0:13:42 > 0:13:44See you next time. Come on, Kip!
