0:01:02 > 0:01:07They're called sacred ibis and they're from North Africa.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09In the wild, they build their nests

0:01:09 > 0:01:12really high up to keep their eggs safe.

0:01:12 > 0:01:17As you can see, I've helped them by building a platform for them.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20They've got really long beaks that they use

0:01:20 > 0:01:22to search in the mud for their favourite food -

0:01:22 > 0:01:26juicy worms. Everything all right up there, ladies?

0:01:26 > 0:01:30My Harry could build a nest with his eyes closed. Yes, we're fine, Andy.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Oh, this isn't any old rope ladder,

0:02:23 > 0:02:27this is my latest brilliant invention -

0:02:27 > 0:02:30a really rapid reversing rope ladder.

0:02:30 > 0:02:35Wow, a really rapid reversing rope ladder! That sounds brilliant.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37What does it do, then?

0:02:37 > 0:02:42- So, you know how most rope ladders roll downwards?- Right.

0:02:42 > 0:02:47- Well, my rope ladder rolls upwards. - How cool is that?!

0:02:47 > 0:02:51Now I can climb trees without getting my paws dirty.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55- Brilliant, Kip, you're a genius. - Thanks, Andy.

0:02:55 > 0:03:01Now, all I have to do is test it. So what have you been doing, Andy?

0:03:01 > 0:03:05I've been to the sacred ibis to check the nests are OK.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08Oh, is it only birds that make nests, Andy?

0:03:08 > 0:03:13No, Kip, all sorts of animals make nests.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16You've got bees, spiders, squirrels...

0:03:16 > 0:03:22In fact, there's one nest builder that's even bigger than me.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24- Bigger than you?- Yep,

0:03:24 > 0:03:28high up in the beautiful green hills of Uganda in East Africa

0:03:28 > 0:03:31there are some amazing mountain gorillas.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33The babies have to climb up

0:03:33 > 0:03:36to the tops of the trees to build their big, leafy nests.

0:03:36 > 0:03:38It's like sleeping on the top bunk

0:03:38 > 0:03:42and being able to look up at the sky all at the same time.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44Sounds like those mountain gorillas

0:03:44 > 0:03:49- could use my rapid reversing rope ladder!- Know what this sounds like?

0:03:49 > 0:03:51BOTH: Time to go on a wild adventure!

0:03:51 > 0:03:54We can watch mountain gorillas make nests.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58And we get to test out my reversing rope ladder!

0:03:58 > 0:03:59BOTH: Let's do it!

0:04:01 > 0:04:04- One - gadget pack.- Check.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07- Two - gizmo.- Check.

0:05:22 > 0:05:25That's where the mountain gorillas live,

0:05:25 > 0:05:28right in the heart of Africa. Let's go there.

0:05:28 > 0:05:34- Then Uganda here we come! Go, Cat Nav, go! Yeah!- Whoa!

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Whoaaaaaaaa-ohhhh!

0:05:43 > 0:05:45KIP LAUGHS

0:05:45 > 0:05:48Wow, here we are, Andy.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50The mountains of Uganda.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53Oh, and what's more, Kip,

0:05:53 > 0:05:56I've spotted some mountain gorillas right below us!

0:05:56 > 0:05:58Come on, let's land.

0:06:04 > 0:06:10- Oh, look, Kip, aren't they amazing? - Oh, yeah.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13They're amazing all right, and they're also very big.

0:06:13 > 0:06:15What on earth do they eat?

0:06:15 > 0:06:19Leaves, mainly. That's why they're headed to the forest.

0:06:19 > 0:06:20Come on, let's follow them

0:06:20 > 0:06:25- and maybe we'll get to see them build their nests.- Um...actually,

0:06:25 > 0:06:29I think I might just stay here and look after the Kipmobile.

0:06:29 > 0:06:33It's not that I'm afraid or anything but, well, er...

0:06:33 > 0:06:38it looks like it might rain and I forgot to bring my raincoat.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40Uh, Kip? Clear blue skies.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44Yes, but it looks like rain to me and we cats hate rain.

0:06:44 > 0:06:48- All right, well, I'll see you later, then. Bye.- OK.

0:06:48 > 0:06:52- But, Andy...?- Yes?- Be careful.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54Thanks, Kip.

0:06:54 > 0:06:58Where have they gone?

0:06:58 > 0:07:00GRUNTING

0:07:00 > 0:07:03- Did you hear that? - GRUNTING

0:07:03 > 0:07:06I think there must be some gorillas ahead.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08Hang on.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11- MIMICS GORILLA - Hoo-hoo! Hoo!

0:07:11 > 0:07:15It's good gorilla manners to grunt when you're close

0:07:15 > 0:07:18to let them know that you're coming.

0:07:18 > 0:07:22Come on. Hoo. Hoo hoo-hoo! Hoo hoo-hoo.

0:07:22 > 0:07:27Wow! Here they are! (I'll whisper so that I don't startle them.)

0:07:33 > 0:07:36Gorillas love being with other gorillas.

0:07:36 > 0:07:40And one way of showing that love is by doing this -

0:07:40 > 0:07:43getting rid of the bugs in their fur.

0:07:43 > 0:07:48That's right. Take it easy there, big fella. Just relax.

0:07:48 > 0:07:51Gorillas are really playful too.

0:07:51 > 0:07:55The young ones like nothing more than to wrestle each other.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03Oh, look! It's a baby!

0:08:03 > 0:08:08And by the looks of it, it's only a few days old.

0:08:08 > 0:08:13I could spend all day with these gorillas but I'll show you

0:08:13 > 0:08:16how they make nests. Come on. See ya!

0:08:21 > 0:08:24The forest can be so full of plants

0:08:24 > 0:08:28that it can be really difficult for us to walk through.

0:08:28 > 0:08:32But the more plants there are, the happier they are,

0:08:32 > 0:08:38because plants are what they eat - especially bamboo.

0:08:38 > 0:08:42Isn't that right, big guy? Cheers!

0:08:45 > 0:08:47Ooh, don't mind me.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Hmm...

0:08:53 > 0:08:54Andy was right.

0:08:54 > 0:08:59There's no sign of rain but there are plenty of gorillas.

0:08:59 > 0:09:03No leaves here, gorillas. Go that way.

0:09:03 > 0:09:08No leaves. The trees are there. Yeah. Ha-ha! Over there. Ha!

0:09:10 > 0:09:12Bye!

0:09:15 > 0:09:19Adult gorillas are too big to climb small trees

0:09:19 > 0:09:24but it doesn't mean that they can't teach the young ones to do it.

0:09:26 > 0:09:27GORILLA GRUNTS

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Look at that one over there.

0:09:32 > 0:09:37Aw, he doesn't have his dad to help him so he's practising on his own.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41Go on, buddy! You can do t!

0:09:41 > 0:09:44Oops! Oh... Are you all right?

0:09:44 > 0:09:50That's it! Don't give up! And try not to get too dizzy there either.

0:09:50 > 0:09:55Ooof! Gorillas climb trees to get the freshest,

0:09:55 > 0:10:00most delicious leaves that they can, all the way up at the top.

0:10:00 > 0:10:05But they also climb trees to build nests. Oh...

0:10:07 > 0:10:12And I think I can see one in the distance.

0:10:12 > 0:10:13Come on, let's go.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20- Oh... - HE SIGHS

0:10:20 > 0:10:22Finally, I've made it!

0:10:33 > 0:10:35Hi, Kip. Everything is great.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38I've finally found what I was looking for -

0:10:38 > 0:10:42a gorilla climbing to the top of a tree to build a nest.

0:10:42 > 0:10:47Take a look. The only problem is,

0:10:47 > 0:10:49how will I get up there?

0:10:49 > 0:10:54Oh, I know! Use my really rapid reversing rope ladder! Ha!

0:10:54 > 0:10:59Good idea, Kip. That's exactly what I'll do. Nice one.

0:11:04 > 0:11:07Perfect!

0:11:08 > 0:11:12CLUNKING AND FIZZING

0:11:21 > 0:11:26Phew! Oh... Wow!

0:11:26 > 0:11:29This is amazing!

0:11:29 > 0:11:33This little guy builds a new nest every night,

0:11:33 > 0:11:38making sure that he has plenty of room so that he doesn't roll out.

0:11:38 > 0:11:45Each young gorilla makes its own nest. Look how many there are.

0:11:45 > 0:11:49It's like sleeping in a bed made of your favourite food!

0:11:49 > 0:11:51Look!

0:11:51 > 0:11:56He just looks up at the stars, relaxes and falls to sleep.
