0:00:40 > 0:00:42Today at the park we're really excited!

0:00:42 > 0:00:46This beautiful mummy marmoset monkey has just had her babies.

0:00:46 > 0:00:50And, look, they're clinging on to her

0:00:50 > 0:00:54because they've just come outside for the very first time!

0:00:54 > 0:00:58Oh, look at them! They're so brave!

0:00:58 > 0:01:02In about two month's time, they get to explore the outside on their own,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04but for now, they're clinging on to mum.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06You all right there, guys?

0:01:06 > 0:01:11- We're very brave! - My brother's asleep.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15OK, now I'm going to show you another animal

0:01:15 > 0:01:18who's also doing something for the very first time.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20See you, guys!

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Meet Rebecca the rhino.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35She's just arrived here at Pickles' Animal Park.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37So this is her very first mud bath.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41She's being very brave because she doesn't really know me yet.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44So she has to learn to trust me.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47It's OK. That's it. You enjoying your mud bath?

0:01:47 > 0:01:50All the nerves have gone. More mud please!

0:01:50 > 0:01:53It's good to give a rhino a mud bath

0:01:53 > 0:01:56because it's great for their skin and it keeps them cool.

0:01:56 > 0:01:57Doesn't it?

0:01:57 > 0:02:01Oh, it certainly does, Andy. I feel ten years younger.

0:02:01 > 0:02:05Right, I think you're just about done. Better go and get cleaned up.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08- See you later, Rebecca! - Well, I feel pampered! Bye!

0:02:20 > 0:02:22HE WHISTLES

0:02:22 > 0:02:25'Come in, Andy! Andy, come in! Over.'

0:02:25 > 0:02:28Oh, that'll be the boss. Hello, Mr Pickles. Andy here.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31Receiving loud and clear. Over.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35'Andy, I've noticed that the snails have been eating all the leaves

0:02:35 > 0:02:39'and the tarantulas don't have much to hide under at the moment.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43'Could you bring some more leaves when you come over? Over.'

0:02:43 > 0:02:46No problem, sir. I'm in the workshop now, on my break,

0:02:46 > 0:02:49but I'll bring them to you straight afterwards.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52'Oh, thanks, Andy. Pickles out.'

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Ah! Hello, Kip!

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Oh, hello, Andy!

0:02:56 > 0:03:00What's this you're making? A balloon?

0:03:00 > 0:03:04Oh, I certainly am, but not just any old balloon.

0:03:04 > 0:03:12This is my latest invention. A super-special self-blowing balloon.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Hang on a minute. A super-special self-blowing balloon?

0:03:15 > 0:03:19That's right. You know how I love my balloons?

0:03:19 > 0:03:22- And how hard it can be to blow them up?- Yes.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Well, with this one, you press the button on your gizmo

0:03:25 > 0:03:28and if all was according to plan,

0:03:28 > 0:03:32it should suck in all the air that it needs to fill it right up.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35Wow! That's brilliant! Come on, let's try it out.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38We just have to wait for the paint to dry.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40And then we can test it out all we like.

0:03:40 > 0:03:44Oh! Well, ha-ha, I can't wait!

0:03:45 > 0:03:47So what have you been up to?

0:03:47 > 0:03:50This morning I've been to see the marmoset monkeys

0:03:50 > 0:03:53because one of the mums has just had tiny twins,

0:03:53 > 0:03:57and they've come outside today for the very first time.

0:03:57 > 0:03:58Were they scared?

0:03:58 > 0:04:02They were a bit nervous at first, Kip, but once they came outside

0:04:02 > 0:04:05and they cuddled up to their mum, they were fine.

0:04:05 > 0:04:10I remember the first time I climbed a tree right up to the top. Heh!

0:04:10 > 0:04:12I got scared and had to climb back down.

0:04:12 > 0:04:17Doing things for the first time can be quite scary, Kip.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20In fact, there's a type of duck called a mandarin duck

0:04:20 > 0:04:24that nests high up in the trees to get away from any hungry animals.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27But in the springtime, when the ducklings are born,

0:04:27 > 0:04:31they have to get down from the tree but they don't know how to fly.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33- So what do they do?- They jump!

0:04:33 > 0:04:34- Oh! They don't!- They do.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38They follow their mum and with some encouragement

0:04:38 > 0:04:42they leap out of the nest and they land on a big bed of leaves below.

0:04:42 > 0:04:46- Oh, I'd love to see that.- You know what this sounds like, don't you?

0:04:46 > 0:04:48BOTH: It's time to go on a wild adventure!

0:04:48 > 0:04:50We get to see brave ducklings

0:04:50 > 0:04:53jumping out of their nests for the first time.

0:04:53 > 0:04:58Maybe we can test out my super-special self-blowing balloon.

0:04:58 > 0:05:01- What are we waiting for? Come on, let's do it!- Andy!

0:05:01 > 0:05:05- Yeah?- You've got paint on your face.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07Oh, thanks, Kip.

0:05:09 > 0:05:13- One, gadget pack.- Check!

0:05:13 > 0:05:17- Two, gizmo.- Check!

0:05:17 > 0:05:21- Three, my super-special self-blowing balloon.- Check.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24Just in case we need it.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27And last but not least, the Kipmobile!

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Seatbelts on.

0:05:31 > 0:05:32Hit it, Kip!

0:06:06 > 0:06:08Lift off!

0:06:13 > 0:06:18- Ah-ha-ha-ha!- Woo-hoo-hoo! We're in space!

0:06:18 > 0:06:20So where to, Andy?

0:06:20 > 0:06:24We're going to the biggest country in the world, Kip. Russia.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27That's where we'll find our mandarin ducks,

0:06:27 > 0:06:29in the eastern forest.

0:06:29 > 0:06:33Oh! Ha-ha! Then Russia it is. Go, cat nav, go!

0:06:33 > 0:06:36Whoaaaa!

0:06:49 > 0:06:53- Ha-ha!- Right, come on then, Kip. Let's go and find some water.- Ah!

0:06:53 > 0:06:57Mandarin ducks like to nest near water.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00And I can't wait to see their incredible high diving act.

0:07:00 > 0:07:05Water. Um...actually, you know what?

0:07:05 > 0:07:07I'm feeling a little tired.

0:07:07 > 0:07:08HE YAWNS

0:07:08 > 0:07:11Um, so I think I might just stay in the Kipmobile

0:07:11 > 0:07:15and have a quick cat-nap while you look for the mandarin ducks.

0:07:15 > 0:07:21- Oh, OK. Well, if you're sure. - Absolutely. But you go and have fun.

0:07:21 > 0:07:23OK. I'll see you soon.

0:07:23 > 0:07:28- Be careful!- I will!- Ha! Good, he's gone. Ha-ha.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32Which means I can make the most of my time while I'm here.

0:07:32 > 0:07:36Now, what shall I do? Ah! I know! Ahhhhhh.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39HE SNORES

0:07:42 > 0:07:46Oh, isn't this great?

0:07:46 > 0:07:50There's nothing like a forest in the springtime.

0:07:51 > 0:07:55Well, I've found the lake.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57And what's more,

0:07:57 > 0:08:00I can see some mandarin ducks on that branch over there.

0:08:00 > 0:08:05They're not only on the branches, there are some in the water too.

0:08:05 > 0:08:07Aren't they the most incredible colours?

0:08:07 > 0:08:10That's how you can tell they're the daddy ducks,

0:08:10 > 0:08:13or drakes as they're called because, as with most birds,

0:08:13 > 0:08:16it's only the dads that are really colourful.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18The mums have much better camouflage,

0:08:18 > 0:08:22which means it might be difficult finding one.

0:08:22 > 0:08:24But she won't be too far from water.

0:08:26 > 0:08:28Come on!

0:08:31 > 0:08:34I've just spotted a hole in that tree up there.

0:08:34 > 0:08:38It's the perfect place for a mandarin duck to make her nest.

0:08:38 > 0:08:41It's high enough off the ground to stay safe from predators.

0:08:41 > 0:08:45And if there is a mother duck inside, and there is,

0:08:45 > 0:08:48chances are we'll get to see some ducklings.

0:08:48 > 0:08:52This is exciting! They'll land on the ground next to me.

0:08:52 > 0:08:53I don't want to scare them

0:08:53 > 0:08:56so I'm going to shrink down to their size.

0:08:56 > 0:09:00Size of a mandarin duckling. Here goes!

0:09:06 > 0:09:07Perfect.

0:09:07 > 0:09:11Now I can get really close to them without making them feel nervous.

0:09:11 > 0:09:14Oh, look! It's the mother duck.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17She looks like she's about to... jump!

0:09:20 > 0:09:23Whoa!

0:09:23 > 0:09:25Are you all right? Oh-ho-ho!

0:09:25 > 0:09:30It's all right, she's OK, but she can fly.

0:09:30 > 0:09:35The ones that can't fly are up there. Her ducklings.

0:09:35 > 0:09:37There can be as many as 12 of them in one nest.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39Now don't worry.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42It's a long way down but the ground is covered with leaves,

0:09:42 > 0:09:44making their landing super soft.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47They've just got to pluck up the courage

0:09:47 > 0:09:49and take their very first step.

0:09:49 > 0:09:51And here he goes! Good luck! Whoa!

0:09:51 > 0:09:52Oh-ho-ho! Oooh!

0:09:52 > 0:09:55You all right there, little fella?

0:09:55 > 0:09:57I'd get out the way if I was you.

0:09:57 > 0:10:02Because here come his brothers and sisters.

0:10:03 > 0:10:06This is exactly what I wanted to show you.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09Mandarin ducklings leaving their nest

0:10:09 > 0:10:11and bravely jumping to the ground.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13Aw, well done,

0:10:13 > 0:10:15you brave little ducklings!

0:10:15 > 0:10:18This is just what I wanted to see!

0:10:18 > 0:10:23Oh, hang on! There's still one up there.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26Aw, it might be too scared of falling.

0:10:26 > 0:10:32Maybe it needs a helping hand, in which case, activate rocket pack!

0:10:36 > 0:10:39OK, here I go!

0:10:41 > 0:10:44Stay where you are, little fella. I'm on my way.

0:10:48 > 0:10:52Right. Hello! Anyone home?

0:10:52 > 0:10:56Oh, here you are. Oh! Oh! Aw! Look, don't worry about it.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58I know you're scared and I know

0:10:58 > 0:11:00it's a long way down but don't worry.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02There are lots of leaves down there

0:11:02 > 0:11:04so it'll be a soft landing.

0:11:04 > 0:11:07Your brothers and sisters did it. Come on.

0:11:07 > 0:11:09Do it with me. After three.

0:11:09 > 0:11:15One, two, three, whoaaaaaa!

0:11:15 > 0:11:17Whoa-ho-ho-ho-ho!

0:11:17 > 0:11:19Activate rocket pack!

0:11:19 > 0:11:22Oh, no! It's not working. I know.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24Kip's super-special

0:11:24 > 0:11:26self-blowing balloon.

0:11:31 > 0:11:36Oh, well done, Kip. Now I can glide down just like the ducklings.

0:11:36 > 0:11:37Hee-hee!

0:11:41 > 0:11:44Hang on a minute. Why am I going up?

0:11:44 > 0:11:45HISSING

0:11:45 > 0:11:49Oh, no! Kip's balloon's getting even bigger.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52And bigger. Whoa!

0:11:53 > 0:11:55Oh, no. How am I going to get down?

0:11:55 > 0:11:58The balloon's getting even bigger now.

0:11:58 > 0:12:02Oh, I know. Kip, can you come and get me please? Kip!

0:12:02 > 0:12:04Uh-oh! Kip!

0:12:04 > 0:12:08It's all right, Andy. I'm coming!

0:12:08 > 0:12:09Ha-ha! Ha!
